Three days after they had gone on their hunt, and had their rather... intense, emotional meeting. Bengal and June had finally set out for their next job, ironically at the same town that they'd been in prior. The call for aid had been an emergency one, and as such Bengal had fallen back on old habits. Scooping June up and enhancing himself with magic, traveling at his top speed from where they'd been staying within his Clan's lands, to the town of Nairn. The time had eased the tension and fatigue a bit, both of them had managed to find that central ground they had both needed so badly from one another.
Understanding.
They didn't need to agree on everything. But that one word was more important than anything else. The guilt, and pain hadn't disappeared. But it had become a bit more manageable. It was something that they could help one another learn properly. Now, they flickered through the forest at a high speed. Bengal was properly equipped, as he had no idea what an emergency truly meant for the town. The blade crafted from the spinal column of Krampus slung across his back, the molten ring pulsed on his finger from the Lava Palace dungeon heart.
Magically enhanced greater than normal, Bengal continued his rapid movements as mana flowed through his body. Shifting his gaze from them toward June as he frowned slightly.
"Almost there. I'm sorry, Flower." They had been forced up and going earlier than either of them had wanted, and he knew she was likely sore still. Turbulent emotions and fights eventually led to intense feelings and love when one awoke from the pain, it turned out. Both of them were already passionate. He kissed one of the marks gently as his clawed feet dug into the bark of a large tree branch, before launching forward once more.
They only knew there was a general threat to the town itself, mana beasts again likely. Beyond that, they had little context. But it was perturbing considering the information he'd managed to acquired with her help about the deer corpses after the last mission.
"Our usual for a basis, I suppose?" he murmured to her, the question on their tactics. Their basic was to enhance one another to their limits and then push through it all even further. Brute force was usually a decent weapon for them with their speed and magic energy. Junes defense, and Bengal offense with both of them enhancing and healing was a deadly combination.

June was less than excited about being dragged out of bed and rushed out the door without so much as a hot bath or time for coffee. However, she'd been tired enough to doze off while Bengal carried her towards the location of their mission. The noblewoman could only be so cross after a nap cradled in her fiancé's arms. His apologies roused her slightly. June blinked slowly and squinted, grumbling something unintelligible in response.
They'd fought hard and made up even harder. Something that left June quite tired and sore. For now, she would bear with it. Afterwards, though, she would demand a good long soak in a hot bath. Maybe even con Bengal into massaging her. Pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind, June began to gather her wits once the giant man set her down.
"Yes, let's start with our usual. I would like to put an end to whatever disturbed us and this town with prejudice."
Her displeasure was clear, a frown marring her soft features, silver brows knitting together. She drew her sword, The Bastard, with her right hand and settled her left over her grimoire, which was strapped to her hip. Her lips pressed together firmly in concentration while the noblewoman summoned water to their defense.
Countless, thin rivulets of water snaked their way across June and Bengal's bodies, forming a tight overlapping weave of high pressure streams. The water was cool and moved rapidly from the pressure forcing it to take shape. The end result resembled a semi-translucent chain mail. Poseidon's Armor.
"Can you sense them?" she asked Bengal, glancing around the forest for any signs of danger. Her temper was barely suppressed, like a kettle about to boil over.
She had been enjoying the make up process with Bengal quite thoroughly. Being made to leave that behind in favor of a mission soured her mood greatly. It wasn't the same overwhelming guilt and grief from before. This was something far more quotidian. Simpler.
Bengal had agreed to teach her to sense Ki, but training had yet to begin. They'd still been enjoying one another's presence when this interruption occurred. Once she developed an awareness of life energy, June would be able to hunt down her prey with more efficiency. For now, she would do things the "old fashioned" way.
"I think I know which direction they went," June called out, crouching to examine a large and unusually shaped footprint near the tree line.
It didn't resemble the tracks of any animal known to roam this forest naturally. Not only was it too big to be one of the many woodland critters with smaller feet, it was the wrong shape to be bear tracks.
"I don't know what yeti feet look like, but I don't know of any other creature that would leave behind prints like this," June commented before straightening up.

Bengal grunted softly as his lover commented that she wanted to end this quickly, a rumble of agreement filling his chest. He understood that desire all too well. They'd been enjoying their time. Flickering through the woods, Bengal's energy reached out, sensing the ki from life around him. Squirrels, small birds nesting, the occasional mouse buried under the snow in hibernation or rabbit. But he didn't detect any large creatures around him, nothing that fit the brief summaries of what had been given to them.
Some kind of white beast, akin to the Yeti that they had dealt with to a degree within the Dungeon the year prior, with Krampus. Humming in his chest Bengal gently set June down from his arms as she began to crouch and examine the things around him. He wished they'd had more time to start dabbling in ki like she'd desired, but training generally came second to raw life experience anyway. Though he did admire her crouching down, his gaze shifted fairly quickly to focus on the job at hand.
As she commented on claws that decorated the trees, leading toward a large footprint. Bengal hummed in his chest once more. It was larger than his own and shaped in an ape-like design. Altered a bit. Unnatural, it certainly fit the prints he vaguely recalled from the dungeon. "Looks bout right. They're not in my range for ki, though." He scratched his chin briefly before static electricity snaped into being between his hands. Crackling, before spreading out and washing over both of them.
Their speed and power enhanced, their ability to shrug off debilitating effects expanding greatly. Combined with his natural armaments from the shirt of woven mana beast silk, and the powerful poisidon armor that now draped over his form in rippling water meant they both be near impenetrable.
"Let's walk at a decent pace but go slowly. One of ki's biggest flaws is its lack of range for things like this. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled." A drawback of ki, and his clan. He relied on ki far too much, so his base magical senses and normal tracking lacked a bit. He was a decent hunter. But without ki he was forced to rely on normal, physical methods which were just as effective, but far more time-consuming. His love wasn't very patient right now.

Despite her impatience, June knew better than to insist on rushing in. They had no way of knowing the overall strength of these creatures yet, just reports from the villagers that they looked like yetis. If they were anything like the monsters she and Bengal had faced in Krampus' dungeon, then they could be dealt with. If they were stronger than that, however, it could pose a problem.
It was best to get the drop on these creatures if possible.
Their traipse through the forest followed increasingly obvious tracks left behind by the creatures in question: odd scratch marks on trees, large ape-like footprints, and the occasional strong odor that suggested the creatures marked their territory. June wrinkled her nose at the acrid scent.
"It smells like a stable that hasn't been cleaned for a week," she complained before pulling out a handkerchief and using it to shield her nose. The noblewoman could still smell the stink, but it didn't burn her nose quite as badly.
Other than that, the soft crunch of their feet on the snow's surface was the only sound audible for most of the trek.
After a certain distance, several kilometers into the forest, June noticed something. A distinct lack of bird calls or chattering squirrels. A few tufts of white fur caught on branches of low hanging foliage. Further along, the pair of mages found a deer carcass. The animal had been ripped apart at the joints and picked mostly clean, leaving behind sections of its skeleton with piles of fur and skin.
A quick examination of the gruesome scene revealed that the remains hadn't started to freeze yet. The incident was recent.
Quietly, June pulled Bengal close so she could murmur in his ear in a voice barely above a whisper. "Even if they didn't stick around, the trail leading to them should be pretty clear. Let's use River Step so they won't hear our approach."
With Bengal's agreement, the Magic Knight summoned a transport construct. Snow on the ground melted and pooled until it formed a wide stream with enough space for June and Bengal to stand comfortably on top of it. At the same methodical and slow pace they had walked earlier, River Step carried the pair over the ground soundlessly.
The traces of blood in the snow lead them towards a set of fresh tracks. Unlike the partially filled in footprints of before, these were deeper and even had the occasional hair left on top or nearby.
June could feel the anticipation build as they grew closer to their target. She held The Bastard at the ready, prepared to pounce at a moment's notice.

Bengal followed along the path carefully, before shifting his gaze briefly down toward June as she murmured her agreement to his plan. Slowly and carefully they moved through the various plants, until his gaze settled on the large claw marks that decorated the tree. His hand lifting up and tracing them with his own fingers. They were larger than him, but plenty were. He'd mark the hand about as big as his fathers, so they were the same size as the normal Yeti that had been in Krampus. Not the enlarged ones on the fourth and lower floors.
Still, that didn't mean that they weren't the same. Lifting a hand up, his hand grasped the hilt of the blade at his hip. The polished bone handle crafted from the fused vertebrae of some sizeable humanoid creature. The sound of steel slowly being drawn filling the air, as the sheath crafted from the other section of the same spinal column filled the air. Black, inky miasma began to slowly leak through the air. With it, came the faint scent of coal.
Bengal flicked the blade once, and the pitch-black blade caught what limited light there was. As if it was a weapon crafted from solid coal, or obsidian, and yet it shown like steel. The spinal column from Krampus on their last run through the dungeon, when Bengal had ripped the boss's spine from his back to kill him. Now forged into a powerful blade, Bengal kept the long katana at his side as he followed alongside his love.
Her comments in regards to the smell caused a low rumble of amusement to fill his chest. Of course she'd react in such a way. Even with their trip she'd always been annoyed by the unpleasant scents of the world. Her noble-refined pallet and nose had been difficult to train. Even now it was clearly too much for her even as Bengal sniffed the air more akin to a beast than man, using the scent as a way to track down their prey. "Consider it an advantage that they're so... potent, Flower." He stated with an amused smile. She really was cute.
When June suddenly paused, Bengal's own eyes settled on the large corpse of the deer. A low grunt filling his chest as he idly shifted the blade between his fingers. They were still out of his range, but the life signatures of other creatures were few and far between. The forest was far quieter, though not silent, in this area. Her plan caused him to nod once in agreement, feeling the water swell and wrap around their feet. His gaze settled on the treeline around them.
No sign of them didn't mean that they weren't near. Ki didn't have the most distant range after all, as potent as it was. He'd never be ambushed. But actually tracking down his prey from a long distance was a bit different. Watching she lift the blade up, Bengal glanced at her before grinning down at her as he tilted his own blade across his shoulder. The fact they both favored blades still amused him.
Even if his own was far more... macabre, by the definition of Clover. His gaze shifted forward, when he finally felt the distant ping of a heavy life force. His eyes narrowed, lifting a hand up once. A silent signal for June to pause the water as he examined the direction the sensation came from. His fingers lifted, showing 'two' before pointing in the location he sensed the ki.
Through the deep forest, toward a hill. Perhaps a cave? It was through the thick foliage, he had no way to tell. Aiming the blade to the side, Bengal prepared for what was to come. Though, considering June's eagerness, he had a feeling he wouldn't be needed for this little bout just like the last.

River Step continued to flow through the forest, carrying them a few scant centimeters above the ground. Their noiseless travel let the few sounds they did make, mostly breathing, blend into the quiet background of ambient forest noise. The tracks led them towards a cave, where the sets of overlapping prints and acrid scent of ammonia made it clear that this was likely where the creatures had set up shop. An outcrop covered in snow created an overhang above the entrance. A few broken icicles hung from that protrusion, their pointed ends long gone.
Dark stains in the snow, packed down from being trampled time and time again, hinted at bloodshed. The stink of rotting hung heavy in the cold air, softening the crispness of the air the way mold softens toast. It was quiet, too quiet. Where before the sounds of forest life had been sparse, this space was the complete absence of it. If the ambient noise profile of this place were a color it would have been white --a complete lack. It magnified the sounds of each breath the duo took until it felt uncomfortably loud in comparison to their dead quiet surroundings.
June tightened her grip on The Bastard. It was a simple weapon, nothing like the blade Bengal had crafted from Krampus' spine, but it was enough for her purposes. The blade was something she'd purchased during their journey back to the Kingdom of Clover, for situations when her magic wasn't hard hitting enough.
The crack of snow compressing beneath a large, lumbering creature ripped June's attention towards it. Her breath caught in her throat and her chest tightened, knuckles paling as her grip on The Bastard strengthened.
They were here.
The words were never uttered aloud. If June knew, then Bengal knew. He'd likely sensed the creatures just before she heard them.
The first of the creatures grunted, allowing June to pinpoint its position as somewhere within that dark cavern. The hairs on the back of her neck stood at attention. A bead of sweat formed at her hairline and dripped down the side of her face. Despite the cold, the noblewoman was tense enough and exerting enough energy to feel rather hot.
Without noticing, June stopped breathing as she heard the monster approaching. Her lungs started to burn, forcing her to suck in a sharp breath.
The creature must have heard a noise because it let out a loud cry, signaling to the other monster that intruders had arrived.

Bengal moved quietly alongside his lover, before the electrical energy sparked across their bodies in reaction to the sound of the beasts snarling, a loud bellowing call that alerted the ally of the first creature. It didn't reply. It didn't need to, the creature was trudging up from behind them as Bengal idly shifted the blade within his hand, gazing briefly to the side as he felt the creatures ki quickly traveling along the side of them. It was surprisingly swift for something of such great size.
Despite this, Bengal wasn't so impressed that he felt the need to warn June of the threat. Instead he released the electrical discharge down her limbs, empowering her with magic. Instead of worrying about enhancing her strength now that she had the blade, he focused on her speed and allowed her to rely on her own movements. His mana pulsing through her body causing tuffs of blue fur to form along the backs of her forearms, hands and shins. Claws elongating from her fingertips, small fangs forming from her lips as her hair would grow longer and wilder.
Blue fur forming at the tips of her ears that become more elongated and pointed. Augmenting her magical power and physical speed, allowing her to drop her river walk and rely entirely on her own body and blade. Bengal mirrored the same spell though his own fur was brilliant white and silver, pale yellow eyes remaining calm as he watched the first beast barrel toward them. Scooping a hand down and slamming it upward. Causing a massive wall of snow to compress, forming a magic barrier to protect the beast, theoretically.
Bengal grunted. A bit more intellect than a simple mana beast, then. But the magic was basic. Simple and utilizing raw power with little refined control. He doubted the creature could maintain it for too long, and it was easily dealt with with the correct magical spells. Bengals hand clenched a few times as he grasped the blade, before his heels dug into the ground, waiting.
"That ones all yours, Flower," he stated simply to June as the bright yellow eyes flitted to the side. The second beast was lumbering silently through the forestry, using its magic to hide its presence. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly a strong enough illusion for his ki to not detect it through the flowing snow and mist. It was looping around, swinging wide. Using its ally as a distraction to try and sneak attack them.
So this was strategy one. He had to wonder what the other would do when June eviscerated its partner. Or if it managed to get to him faster than June did it's partner, what it would do when Bengal cut this one in half. His grip on the blade tightened slightly, muscles flexing as his head tilted to the side. The Yeti was slowing. Suspicious that he wasn't moving as he waited for the so-called ambush to begin.

June allowed the water beneath her feet to fall and freeze over. With the crackling electric energy dancing across her Poseidon's Armor, she didn't need it to keep up with their opponents. With his electric magic pulsing across her water armor, the noblewoman was faster without it. She touched down on the ground and took a few steps forward to help herself readjust to the added speed and power.
The Magic Knight was still adjusting to the magical enhancements when the first yeti emerged from the cave. It growled at the two intruders, the air vibrating with the force of its voice. The stink wafting off of the creature was powerful, a mixture of old blood, rot, and that acrid scent they'd found near the trees further back in the forest.
June put away her handkerchief, nose crinkling at the Yeti's smell. Carefully she positioned her feet in preparation to launch herself at the beast.
Sensing her intentions, the beast ripped up a large icicle from the ground and launched it towards the smaller of the two intruders like a spear.
With a grunt, the Magic Knight swung her blade with both hands, slicing through the icicle. The impact sent shards of ice everywhere. June lifted an arm to shield her face from the debris. By the time she lowered her arm, the monster had summoned a snow fort to shield itself from attack.
The petite noblewoman ran towards the barrier and jumped, spinning to gain more momentum, before slamming one leg into the side of the fort. Snow crumbled, falling off of the structure, but it didn't break. June stabbed forward with The Bastard, continuing the assault with slashing and stabbing motions until the whole thing crumbled.
An icicle slammed directly into her torso, throwing the small woman backwards. Growling, the young woman stood up and shook the snow and ice from the fur that had sprouted across her body. The noblewoman looked like a right terror, lightning crackling across Poseidon's Armor thanks to Bengal's magic adding to her defenses. The scent of ozone and humidity began to settle in the air oppressively.
A soft hiss made its way past her lips before she flashed forward faster than the yeti could respond.
Panicked, the monster launched a large chunk of snow at her, but June burst through it, causing the projectile to explode into a fine powdery mist. The Magic Knight continued forward, plunging her sword into the Yeti's center of mass. She was moving with enough speed and force that she and the yeti went skidding across the snow. With a grunt, she yanked the sword out of the yeti's body before plunging it in again, teeth gritting at the creature's screams.
"Ugh."
June stood, planting one of her boots on the corpse's chest and yanking it out. She flicked the sword to the side, blood splattering across the snow.
More of the red liquid crawled down the magical armor coating her body, dripping to form a puddle at the noblewoman's feet. She kicked the body a few times to ensure that the creature was truly dead. Spitting to the side of the monster in distaste, she turned just in time to see more spikes sailing from within the trees, aimed at herself and Bengal.
June managed to throw herself out of the way in time, diving headfirst into a snowbank in the process. With a groan, she picked herself up and readjusted her grip on The Bastard, looking to see if the yeti still lived.

His love was a ferocious little blue cat when she wanted to be. If Emily was a lioness, and Eve was a panther, then June was something more akin to a Lynx. A small cat that many underestimated until they saw one take down a deep four times its size with a single bite. Throwing its entire body weight into the blow and ripping out its throat, breaking its neck in the process. Brutal, effective, and a bit prissy all at the same time as it drug the corpse away daintily through the snow.
June was so similar to that, or a spoiled housecat at will that he couldn't help chuckling. Watching her tumble through the snow and repeatedly stab the Yeti through the chest was... far more arousing than it should have been. She was bloody, as the water from her armor washed it away around her. Violent. Stabbing, kicking, cursing the creature as her eyes narrowed with bloodlust and killing intent. She was beautiful.
"My flower," he practically purred, before he felt the shift in intent from the Yeti behind him. The blades of ice shot toward him from the perfect ambush spot directly behind him. Flying through the air at surprising speed, and decent accuracy. The power was pretty nasty too. He was starting to understand the state of emergency now. Normal citizens would have issues dealing with these creatures. Especially en-masse. The ability to form tactics, attack from angles like a pack, use one another as bait, and cast multiple forms of spells were formidable issues for most people to deal with.
Bengal wasn't most people. He'd breathed tactics of war, ambush, slaughter and battle since he was a child. The paltry tricks were nothing compared to being hunted by high-speed reptiles across the jungles of his homeland. The blade of bone arced through the air, and the sound of ice shattering filled it. The Yeti blinked, intending to backpedal. Bengal was already there. Standing in front of the beast as the snow exploded around them from the force of his body making contact with the ground.
Then the snow that fell was sliced in twain. With it, the tree, the Yeti's arm, and its body cut in half. Falling in chunks as the shock set in, instantly killing the creature while he flicked the blood across the snow. Grunting softly before sheathing the blade back into its bone holster at his hip opposite the glowing grimoire. Shifting his gaze back toward June, he offered her a smirk.
"Well done, Flower. You've improved tremendously. Physical combat and direct offense aren't even your specialty, after all." Bemused, Bengal would step forward. Walking around the corpses parts that was now gushing blood, leaning down and kissing her hungrily. Fangs briefly meeting fangs before he nipped her bottom lip playfully.
"You're too damn sexy when you get riled up like that." He teased her, smirking.

As expected, Bengal was already upon the yeti and sending it into the after life by the time she regained her footing. Satisfied with the lack of danger, she allowed the water protecting her to fall away, washing away the blood and gore from her in the process. The light red puddle her armor left behind spread and thinned quickly before cooling and freezing. June stepped away from the frozen remains of her defenses and inspected her outfit.
She'd worn light grey pants and a cream colored coat, colors that would be harder to distinguish from the drab winter forest. Fortunately, Poseidon's Armor shielded not just her body from harm but her clothing as well. The lack of bloodstains brought a pleased look to the noblewoman's face. The disgusting creatures that had been harassing the village (and cut her alone time with Bengal short!) were dead and there would be no need to scrub filth from her garments.
Bengal's praise earned him a look that was akin to the cat that got the canary as she smirked in return.
"They are not my specialty, but I've had instruction from a skilled practitioner."
June's own teeth, elongated and sharpened from the effects of Bengal's spell dug into the flesh of his lower lip as he kissed her.
Death and violence didn't excite her the way the did her fiancé but she had become quite desensitized to it from several dungeons and missions with the man. After enough repetitions, it had simply become normal. She did, however, find Bengal's reaction to her engaging in acts of violence quite pleasing.
"All the more reason to hone my skill in physical combat," June replied mirthfully.
With a sigh, she looked down at the chunks of yeti strewn about the snow. "Do you think that's the last of them? Being interrupted once was more than enough for me."
Even though she was trying to shift her focus back to the mission at hand, it was clear that Bengal had started a train of thought that was headed in other directions.
"Though if there were more of these creatures, I would have expected them to arrive by now," June reasoned aloud before sheathing her own sword.
She pulled out her handkerchief and used the cloth to filter out the stench of yeti and blood. It had the secondary effect of warming her nose, which had started to turn a bit red from the cold. Flexing the fingers of her free hand, the noblewoman noted that her hands were starting to get cold as well now that she was calming down.
Nevertheless, the Magic Knight scanned her surroundings for any signs of additional threats. There was nothing that she could detect, just the scattered limbs of the pair they'd already dispatched. June checked to see if perhaps a third had appeared but already been killed, but she only counted enough limbs to account for two yetis.

The rather... intense, kiss was enough. Bengal's nip turned to a proper bite to her throat instead of her lips midway through her question. Hands sliding to her hips to pull her out of the remains and toward an area that was a bit more... sanitary. Claws sinking slightly into soft skin and more bites and kisses decorating his loves throat.
--- Wel afterward, Bengal carefully cradled June's exhausted form in one arm. Carrying her like a princess using his superior size as his eyes slowly examined the surrounding area. The entrails and bodies had thoroughly frozen now, and Bengal grunted softly. Kissing June's marred throat once to get her attention.
"Can you gather them with water, Flower?" He murmured simply, looking over the bodies that now decorated the grounds around them. They still needed to get them back to his Clan. Stink or not, life was life. They would be butchered and--considering the tough meat--slow-cooked into a stew most likely. The hides were thick and fur thicker. They'd make excellent winter coats or rugs. Bones to tools, entrails to compost. The garden would have more visitors today it would seem.
He could haul them manually, but it would be a mess and far less efficient than her water. He would carry her, and she could then carry them with her magic. SIlver wings slowly spread from his shoulders as his grimoire flipped through several pages. Coming to stop on the spell he needed for flight that would keep at the same general speed as her own.

All thoughts about the yetis were temporarily sidelined after Bengal bit her throat. Judging by the look in his eyes, she wouldn't have to wait until they returned to Silva or found an inn to resume enjoying her fiancé's presence. Knowing that the mammoth of a man guiding her to a cleaner patch of snow wouldn't let himself get distracted like this if there was any danger present, the noblewoman relaxed and let him pin her to a nearby tree.
Getting dressed again after their 'fun' had been a bit of a pain. Although the battle itself hadn't been all that stressful, the after party had been quite the work out. June was sore and a bit stiff from the cold. Once she was scooped up into Bengal's arms, the noblewoman made sure to press her frozen fingers against the warm skin of his chest, fumbling a few buttons undone to get his shirt out of the way.
The kiss on her neck made the bruises there throb. The petite woman groaned at being disturbed from her half conscious state.
"Mhmm," June grunted in response to Bengal's question before burrowing into his chest once more.
If not for River Step forming and sweeping up the various yeti parts from the ground, it would have been easy to assume that the noblewoman had ignored her lover and was trying to go to sleep.
While the pair flew through the air, a river carrying the remains of the beasts they'd killed snaked after them along the ground, drawing a few horrified looks from civilians. With a bit more prodding from Bengal, June commanded the construct trailing after them to follow them through the air instead. It took more concentration, causing the woman to grumble a bit.
"I'm not butchering those," she informed Bengal, "they stink."
It was true. These beasts were far more unpleasant smelling than the average animal carcass. June had managed to overcome the offense to her sensibilities enough to help Bengal butcher and process all sorts of creatures, wolves, chickens, turkeys, deer, and the like. The yetis, however, were on another level of disgusting.
"If you can get the smell out of the fur, I'll have something nice made for you," the noblewoman offered in an attempt to compromise. Dealing with the gruesome aftermath of enemies wasn't the only part of making use of the dead in accordance with Ryuutei tradition. Bones, hair, and the like could all be repurposed into useful items.
The yeti's fur, if it could be cleaned, would make nice lining for boots or gloves. Perhaps even a fur coat if enough of the stuff was salvageable. Maybe the beasts' claws could be fashioned into buttons for such a coat. A yawn pushed its way past June's lips while she fought to stay awake.
"Tori, are we there yet?" she asked after a stretch of time, making use of the man's native tongue, even if it was only to complain. "I'm tired."

She was adorable when she was pouting like this. Amused, Bengal pulled her closer so that she could enjoy his warmth more efficiently. While she cuddled into him, Bengal's own wings burst to their full length. A beat of them sent him propelling into the air, his grimoire floating along beside him while bright yellow eyes examined their surroundings quietly. The scent of the Yeti was potent, but not unbearable. Thankfully that scent would fade with time, and they wouldn't need to linger here to wait for that part.
His wings beat once, sending him propelling forward as mana fluctuated along his body, protecting himself and June from the wind as it whipped past him. Then came her small mumble, causing him to glance down at her as she explained she had no intention of touching the corpses. A rumble of laughter filled his chest. So spoiled.
"That's fine, Flower," he murmured simply, kissing the top of her head softly. "I'll get them cleaned up and give you the hides. I'll worry about the rest. As long as the bodies are put to use it doesn't matter who does it." Technically that was true. Many times he and his father had gone out hunting and his sisters had worked the bodies while they did other things. Usually, you handled your own kills, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.
Besides, a new pair of gauntlets sounded nice.
After a bit more time, the tired words in his clan's tongue filled the air. Another soft chuckle and kiss before he nodded his head once, flicking upward as the floating body parts followed on their watery ride. Breaking the canopy to show her that the Ryuutei Compound was on the horizon.
"Not much longer now, Flower. Then we can rest." He promised simply, nuzzling into her before flickering forward once more. Following the movements of his lovers magic and making his way back to the compound. He'd alert the town they were safe shortly after their arrival. For now, they'd take a well-earned rest.

June grumbled, but maintained River Step to keep the yeti corpses afloat until they finally reached the Ryuutei Compound. She had enough patience to bring the body parts to Bengal's house before dropping them in the kitchen. The noblewoman released a sigh of relief as she allowed River Step to fade from existence.
"Bath time," she grumbled before rolling out of his grasp and shuffling towards the bathroom. As always, it was nice to take a soak after a mission.
June stripped off her clothes on the way towards the bath, depositing them in a pile on the floor. They could be gathered and washed later, some time after a good long soak and a nap.
