In this world, Magic is Everything. All people, all races, are granted with the power to perform mystical and magical feats via grimories, mystical tomes granted to each and every child on their 15th birthday. Those blessed by the mana can have their names written down in legend.

Snowflakes dripped down from the sky above to add themselves to the practically endless white carpet that covered the landscape. The cold stung at any ounce of exposed skin, though what was open to the elements was not much. Some might not be able to handle the cold. But when you were raised in the countryside you got used to it. Didn’t mean you couldn’t just not prepare for it though. Even city folk knew to dress themselves up appropriately. All bundled up and dressed in their warm little outfits. But instead of winter cheer there was apprehension and worry in the air. Things weren’t going so well for the town.
It started with kids who went into the forest to play coming back scared. Apparently talking about weird animals. Then they started to get hurt. Small things at first. Couple cuts and bruises. But that could have been chalked up to them just playing rough. When the adults finally started taking the accounts seriously and went to investigate the goings on as well they came back injured, finally able to explain with some better detail just what was going on. Reindeer. The local wildlife had turned feral. But why were normally peaceful, grazing, herbivores suddenly attacking people? Why were they suddenly so much larger than they normally were. Why were they attacking the townsfolk? So many questions that wound up requiring the assistance of the Magic Knights.
Exhaling caused a white cloud to dart out of his nose. Black bangs stretched over his forehead and green eyes as he stared ahead at the forest tree line. The sound of a wagons wheel and the chitter chatter of the townsfolk filled his right ear. Lifting the nutritional bar in his hand to his mouth and taking a bite, the young man sat on the previously snow covered wooden box as he snacked and waited. Roman chewed on the food in his mouth as he watched the treeline from the relative safety of the town. The mantle of the Golden Dawn hung over his shoulders.
Wearing a rather thick coat, as well as a furry hat, Roman sat waiting for the others to show up. He wasn’t sure if he had gotten to the meeting spot first or if he was just really, really, early but… well he was gonna find out one way or another. He was sure he’d get an earful from someone about something. But that wasn’t where his focus was. It was on the forest. What’s going on over there? he wondered to himself as his green eyes narrowed a little and he finally swallowed what was in his mouth. Looking down at the grimoire holster strapped to his leg he took a deep breath, wondering to himself for a moment if he was actually ready for a mission. Well, there was only way to find out.
Sitting back on the crate he was sitting on he let out a sigh through his nose. A lot of people didn’t like the cold. He could understand why. But he never minded it. He preferred the cold over the heat. The heat was invasive and oppressive. But the cold? You could beat the cold. Layer up. Eat something warm. But you couldn’t beat the heat. Roman’s green eyes rested on the field of snow as he thought back to his past and trying to get through the winters with his family. The hunting trips he went on with his dad. Hmm. He should focus on the mission. He turned his head at the sound of snow crunching footsteps. ”Ah, you’re here. You’re not too cold, are you?” he asked the first to arrive, getting to his feet as he did so and resting his hands in his coats pockets.
the cold was certainly something new and interesting to run into. The Witch was pleased with the sensation of such bitter cold, and though it was a bit uncomfortable she couldn't help but enjoy such a novel sensation. As she approached the meeting place she raised her brows when she noticed that she was one of the first one to arrive. And not only that but she recognized the person who was here as well. "Ah you..... I remember you...." She noted softly as she stopped a short distance from the man. She recognized him as the man from that ball from ahwile ago wasn't he? She couldn't help but smile wide at the familiar face and promptly offer an energetic wave. "A pleasure to see you again! You're here about the wildlife as well?" She ventured, taking a moment to look around before she let out a soft noise of concern. She turned to look around before she looked in the direction of the woods where supposedly they would be delving to investigate.
She took a moment to open her palm, a soft, small glass bell forming above her palm as she took that moment to relax as a soft, gentle peal coursed out and rang throughout the area, and a moment later the glassy surface of the bell refracted light, forming a holographic display just below it. A map of the area, showing a three dimensional display of the terrain as well as the mana signatures within it's range, a full 58 meters into the forest from where they were. She eyed the display for a moment, her brows furrowing as she gently spread her fingers open, expanding the size of the display. It seemed whatever was in there was further in. All the same.... at the very least she'd be able to keep tabs on their surroundings. If the wildlife was acting up, she'd spot them before they closed in completely. she DID however, notice other signatures on the map, and she shot Roman a bright smile. "Ah! It seems like the others are on their way!" She noted cheerfully.

He wasn’t fond of trudging through the cold of the winter and the cumbersome hindrance that was snow but Johann had begun to get accustomed to it. Born of nobility he’d never really had much reason to learn to do… just about anything beneficial or practical to his current lifestyle. Though he had bitched and moaned against the quiet of the forest he had still gone on to do it, his stubbornness outweighing his noble given inclination to push unpleasant things to his lessers. Still, for it to be reindeers they were up against made it all the more difficult to take it seriously. Having arrived at the location that he was fairly sure to be their meeting point a quick look around followed by a sigh of relief given his poor sense of direction he was pleased to see others in the vicinity and as such immediately made his way over to them.
Dressed in a long fur coat and hat any hunter with an itchy trigger finger might've mistakenly shot at him as the elf pushed the prickly branch of a fir tree aside to allow himself passage as he trudged past. "Roman!" he'd exclaimed when he saw the familiar face, a simple polite nod having to do for the woman who to him was yet a stranger. "I seem to find you whichever path I take in this winterscape" He remarked as he exited the woodlands and met up with the two, brushing off some snow that had fell on his shoulder back when he went through the fir. "I heard we're taking a look on some rabid reindeer, either of you got a look of them as of yet?" he asked, quite eager to get down to business and out of the cold.
