So here it was, just another boring day in this very bland world. Yemir before opening her eyes listened to the area around her, making sure no one had broken into the little home she had. It wasn’t much and it didn’t hold anything of value but that wouldn’t stop the greedy from thinking there was. She had been at that point not to long ago taking whatever she could get from whoever she could get it from. Now she would still do those things but it wasn’t often and only when she needed too now she was much more stable and able to make it day to day without much issue. Yemir stretched and got ready for the day, putting on her clothes and putting her hair in a ponytail. She begun her trip to the local tavern, this was the place where all the lower end of the “do you have money” spectrum hung out. This was also where you could get jobs for the other side of the law, they would be requests for a murder, theft, blackmail really anything was available here though some of them you had to prove yourself quite a bit before you would be given a shot at the task.
Yemir approached the barkeep and with a certain purchase was given a slip of paper with a task on it, “Debt Collection” It was something she had dealt with in the past due to her parent’s and wasn’t generally the best person to be one to go rough up anyone due to her size though that didn’t stop her from willing agreeing to the task. The barkeep nodded and directed her to the back of the shop where she was told she needed to wait for one other person to join her since it would help the task to have someone else go with her. Yemir wasn’t the happiest by being doubted or judged because of her size but she wasn’t going to be vocal to the person giving her jobs and money. So she grabbed a seat in the back of the tavern and got comfortable since she didn’t know how long it would take for her “comrade” to show up.

Jorah woke up on a small bed, the room of a small inn in some unnamed village in the common realm. He paid handsomely for privacy and made sure to tell his network of informants about where he was in case one needed to tip him off or send him job opportunities. The man was out and on the hunt for one Jonathan Misenheimer...a man that was currently polluting the blood of the good common people by giving them psychoactive drugs from the nation of Spade. This was not in any service to any singular person or entity, but he knew that if he could make the streets safer...other vices besides that of drugs could be found. A knock on his door alerted him as he finished splashing some cool water on his face, hair, and neck...the cool touch of the water was refreshing and he felt the muscles in his face tighten before loosening up as he ran his fingers through his hair one last time before answering the door. A young lady was there with a piece of paper, and she honestly looked at Jorah for a good moment before her cheeks flushed red, the rogue had not buttoned his shirt and stood there with his chest bare...the scars that adorned his toned and maintained body only added to the character as he took the note and thanked the young lady before she was brought back to reality. She nodded once and then disappeared down the hall, back to her regular duties. Shutting the door, Jorah took the note and then gave it a quick once over, the message was from one of his associates, Julius, and he simply relayed that there was a job in nearby Hage village and the gathering place was at “Hog’s Head” a bar off the side of the road...With a sigh Jorah summoned an imitation of flame and burned the note before finishing his morning routine and setting out, making sure to tell the young woman from earlier that he would be back later that evening and they were to hold the room once again.
The Hog’s Head
Jorah walked in and walked directly to the barkeep, he had no intention of looking for his “partner” in all of this...there was no need in doing so...the place was a fucking pig stye...no pun intended. The barkeep asked him first ”What’ll it be?” He said, his voice was rough, and he honestly looked like he had seen some things in his lifetime, but still Jorah was a man of professionalism and also a man of taste. ”Drink...I am here to meet about a job, I am not here for some secret handshake or password. Show me where the other one is waiting so we can get this job over and done with. Also I assume we come back to you for payment?” The barkeep did not look phased by this and just sighed before pointing to the back. ”Come back with proof of the payment and I’ll see you paid” The barkeep retorted as Jorah just tapped the wooden counter twice and left. A single yul was left where he was and he stepped into the back and outside the door where he was met with the sight of his “partner” , the ever so “pleasant” little wildcard...Yemir. ”Hello again Yemir…” Jorah spoke with little tone to his voice, he was not always thrilled with his grouping, but he at least knew Yemir would get stuff done.
“Hello again Yemir.” Came the greeting from Jorah. Yemir had met the fellow rogue at a recruitment gathering for the Eclipsed Ravens not to long ago and while she wouldn’t consider them close they at least understood each other’s work ethic. After all most Rogues knew of those who had decided to become “Known” in the public eye and Jorah was one of these such Rogues. Yemir wasn’t sure if she would ever become known like him but it was certainly a possibility for down the road, after all there were some good benefits in becoming “Known” and they at times outweighed the negatives of staying under the radar but that would be something to think about later on and not right now when they were about to get their briefing for the task ahead.
“Jorah, so you are the unlucky one this time.” Yemir replied with a smile on her face. The task giver came out shortly and explained this was a typical debt collection request. The loanee hadn’t been making their payments and it was time for someone to go collect the yul that was owed one way or another, if that meant they needed to kill the man then so be it they didn’t really care. Yemir always was annoyed by having to go collect debts just because it was such a stupid thing to get into trouble for. “Its always the idiots who borrow to much money that they can’t pay back.” She said out loud as she looked over the small bit of information they were given. The man’s name was Yasuff and he apparently lived in some shit house out by the Nomotato Farm which if Yemir remembered correctly was just outside of Hage. It would be a quick trip but she was sure that Yasuff would be looking out for anyone coming for him, these debtors tended to be paranoid of everyone and everything around collection time.
“Well how about we go and introduce ourselves to our new friend and see what he has going for him?” Yemir said to Jorah as she began to make the trip towards Yasuff’s house. Beyond having to deal with this small issue this would be one of the first times she would be able to see Jorah in action and maybe even see what his magic was all about. The rumors were that he had some magic that allowed him to take others and make it his own, though these were just the rumors from him being known and unless you had been there or seen it yourself there wasn’t much substance to the rumors so Yemir was quite curious about that topic. “How has the Rogue life been for Mister “Known”?” Yemir asked casually as they neared the area that Yasuff’s house was suppose to be in.

”Unlucky, why I have never been so...well...lucky.” He said with a chuckle as their contact came to give them the details of the job, and Jorah of course listened intently as Yemir quipped about the idiots that never have money are always the ones borrowing the most. To which Jorah remembered his time living as a living piece of garbage. ”Oftentimes it is the idiots that need to be worried about...with loan sharks it is all the same anyway. Predate on the weak, cash in whether or not they pay, wash, rinse, repeat. It is all yul anyway...who cares if it is earned through a day’s slave labor or through earnest hustling…” Jorah was always quick to chime in, he was still respectable and held himself as a noble even though he was nowhere near what a noble was...at least in standing. The criminal finished giving them their job and when Jorah went to intervene again, as he usually did to ensure payment the man reached behind him and stabbed a knife into a barrel and looked at Jorah with those beady, short tempered eyes that only a man of ill repute could do. Jorah knew when to talk and when to listen so he turned after getting the details and walked off towards the house. Yemir was already quick to say that they should go introduce themselves, which as a notion of goodwill...would have been nice probably, but Jorah was...not nice and he often did not come with goodwill attached. ”I’ll be sure to bring the cookies.” He said with a smirk as they got out of the area and onto the road.
When he was asked how it was being known Jorah honestly thought about the question for a time before answering, it might come off as if he was ignoring the young rogue beside him, but he wasn’t. In fact the known rogue had been up to a lot since the Eclipse Raven meeting; He had killed two serial murderers, using their own spells against them no less...and he had given his money all to the orphanage that was now being run by an “associate” of his. Making sure that the Magic Knights did not swoop in on the children was his first priority. ” Not as glitz and glam as you would think honestly, who knows...any more of this and I might have to turn myself in and find a new occupation...perhaps the church?” The Von Shurke man deflected the question but did not leave it unanswered. It is also to note that he did not answer in a standoffish manner as to allude to him not wanting to talk, he was still processing the information
“Honestly we are all idiots just living day to day wondering when someone is gonna try and knock on our own doors.” Yemir mentioned after listening to Jorah’s explanation about loan sharks and lenders. Overall it was just a never ending circle of idiots who borrow to much money they know they won’t be able to pay back and idiots that think they will get that money back. Though on one side of that idiot interaction they are happy as long as they can hold power over the other. It was usually the more preferable side of said interaction. After all as far as Yemir knew no one wanted to be weak and taken advantage of though she mused to herself that there was probably some weirdos out there that enjoyed it.
“Man I could go for some cookies at this moment to be honest.” Yemir said as she pictured having a nice hot plate of chocolate chip cookies with a glass of cold milk, she didn’t really care if anyone thought she was a child for her desires or size because she also didn’t care if she put them in the morgue afterwards. It was all about the give and take of conversations and social interaction, insult Yemir and Yemir injures you at some point whether in the present or the very near future. She was young and had surprisingly a lot of time on her hands so she was more than willing to let the line out a little on the fish she caught.
“Psh you turn yourself in? You should let me do it so I can get the Yul from it. Make me look like some model citizen.” Yemir teased at the mention of Jorah turning himself into the authorities and was kind of shocked at the mention of becoming a member of the church. “Well everyone eventually finds religion according to the oldies of the trade. At least you didn’t say you would join the Green Mantis.” Yemir laughed, it was surprisingly common for criminals that wanted to go straight to join that Magic Knight squad as it was really one of the few that accepted the “evil” of society into their folds though apparently if you quite the interest of the Captain of the Black Bulls they would take you in.
They were quickly approach the “client’s” home, it was a dilapidated one story building that looked like it had maybe two rooms in the whole thing and that was being generous. “Oh come on,” Yemir said outloud as she looked at the place. “Wanna bet they spent the money on gambling?” Yemir tossed out the idea to Jorah as they walked up to the door.

Hearing Yemir speak about everyone being idiots was rather...interesting, but he could agree with the philosophy of the young rogue. The meeting went off without much more trouble as Yemir stated that she wanted cookies, and Jorah in all honesty wanted to facepalm himself after hearing this...yet at the same time that damnable thought entered his head like a damn worm...he wanted cookies too…
As they walked and made small talk, the topic of Jorah turning a new page was quite comical as the rogue stated that Jorah should at least let him make the turn in so that he could make the Yul, of course commenting that at least he did not say he was joining the Green Mantis magic knight squad, to which Jorah laughed. ”To be completely honest, if I went anywhere with the magic knights...it would be so I could gain power and eventually kill everyone from the inside out. Hell, I was able to con two mages from Black Bulls AND the Golden Dawn into doing as I wished and I got some loot out of the deal. Screwing with the heads of those naive fools is almost...appetizing to the mind. You won’t be finding me in a magic knight anytime soon though Yemir, when my time comes and it is either kill or be killed...I will go out with a bang. Anyway, it does in fact look like we have…” He was about to finish when Yemir decided to state the obvious before Jorah gave a chuckle. ” Follow my lead on this and we will hopefully get the Yul without the trouble of having to make this man eat through a straw for a few months.” Jorah said as he walked onto the “deck” of the front of the house...the squalid place had definitely seen better days right? He sighed before putting on his usual airs and knocking on the door.
After a few moments, the door opened a crack and a lithe man looked out at Jorah, the rogue motioned behind his back to Yemir to keep an eye behind the house. ” Ah yes good evening,” Jorah said as he let himself in, the inside was just as...well it was better left to the imagination as to what he was viewing currently. ”I’ll make this quick so we can both get on with our lives. I have come to collect the money owed to my associate...Mister Anderson. There is not a negotiation or excuse this time, I am just here for the amount borrowed, I won’t even collect the interest. Then I leave...pretty simple right?” Jorah said this without mentioning violence as he knew that if he did, the lithe man would take off for the back door...it was a clear shot for the place anyway, not much in the damn way. The man caught his eye and began to back up towards the door already, he really was going to be a coward...
From all the information that had been gathered about the client they had to get the money from the little tidbit that they would try and dash if possible was what really stuck out to her. While she hoped that the individual wouldn’t bother with such a foolish attempt it was something that she stuck into the back of her mind as they grew closer to the house. Jorah recounted his tales of dealing with some golden dawn mages and black bulls too, it was interesting to hear about people taking on the authorities and actually winning. Like hearing that someone could actually beat up your dad, it just made Yemir want to get stronger so she could also do the same as the other rogues apparently could do.
Jorah took the lead on approaching the home and told Yemir to follow his plan, though that sounded great and normally Yemir would have simply just stood there and acted like a menacing goblin in the background since she wasn’t the most big and strong muscle that people expect but this time that little nugget of information about how they like to take off if possible made her nod to Jorah and while he walked up there and started talking to the very clearly skittish man. Yemir started to walk towards the back of the house making sure she wasn’t spotted by the man, it helped that said man was focused more on Jorah then her and she waited by the only other exit of the house. She heard a door slam from the front and the pitter patter of a scared mouse come towards her she waited just as the door was flung open to snatch the back of the collar of the fleeing man taking him fully by surprise and swinging him around using his momentum to slam his face into the side of the building stunning him.
“Oh dear, that looked like it stung a bit.” Yemir said with a pouting face, “Here my little mouse let me help you.” She continued as she turned the dazed man towards her and socked him in the face, causing blood to run from his nose and his lip to become busted open. “Now be a nice little rat and tell me where the money is or I’ll just keep cleaning you up.” Yemir said with a smile as she started to pull back for another strike long before the man could even decide to answer.
“Its under my bed third board from the wall. I promise I’m sorry please don’t hit me.” The man blubbered like a spooked child, he had no desire to try anything else since he had been so readily caught and hated any kind of pain.
“Now was that so hard if only you had done this from the start with my companion out front you wouldn’t have had such an accident with the wall and my fist.” Yemir said like a scolding parent, as she turned away the man looked relieved thankful that it was done but that was the moment Yemir swung back around and clocked the man again across the jaw knocking him out cold. “That’s so you don’t make the same mistake next time, you fool.” She said as she entered the house calling for Jorah. “Oi muscles I got the money. Lets head back.” Lifting the sack of yul from its hiding place she walked by Jorah and started the trek back to the task giver and would exchange pleasantries with Jorah as needed and say her goodbyes as they successfully completed their task.

Her ran...of course he ran...what fucking sane persons would stay at the door when someone shows up and demands yul for a loan that was not repaid...he was the bad guy here after all. Honestly as the man ran for the door and Jorah just walked into the house with his hands inside of his pockets he heard the back door open then the sound of a body hitting wood. ”Little troublemaker...I assume you are still with us and not the person that hit the porch?” Jorah continued walking straight back but was then interrupted as Yemir said that she had what they had come to the house for. Jorah nodded and chuckled as he walked out and kicked at the man’s body slightly just to ensure he was still breathing. ”Well, that went easier than expected...I think…” He looked down at the poor schmuck that Yemir had dealt with and he sighed. Pulling out a few Yul and tucking it into the man’s pocket. It was his own hard-earned yul and he was not just...giving it away, but he knew that in order to break a cycle...there had to be a little kindness. ”Little tip...people will always do stupid things when left to their own devices and with no direction...however a little kindness every now and then does not hurt our image...merely throws people off. There is always power with being a wildcard.” He would say before leaping off the porch and back onto the solid ground.
It did not take them long to reach the town again and to collect a payment, he told Yemir where to send word if there ever came a time that she needed his assistance. The known rogue that swept through the Rogues Refuge like a wildfire and single-handedly took out an entire crime syndicate was oftly friendly...was this a deflection to his true demeanor or was he really just that lost in his own madness that he did not see anything wrong with his way of life. Not staying too long after the ordeal was over Jorah was quick to exit back into the unknown countryside as word of the rumored known rogue would begin to make their way across town. The protagonist of his own story, the rogue...the antagonist of many others...Yet to some he was a myth or even a man that would be considered a boogeyman.
