By following the little scamps across town, you eventually come across a run-down old building into which they disappear, undoubtedly to hide and avoid punishment. As you make your way in, there isn’t a lot that seems to be out of the ordinary at first glance. However, as you make your way up the stairs, you find that there are strange green flames burning in a room that has had its windows boarded up from the inside. Closer inspection shows that these green flames act as passage for more of the imps to come into this world, so they need to be closed.

What NPCs are in this mission? Please fill out the template for any notable NPCs. While those you have to socially interact with during the mission are not required, any enemy that is presented in the mission must be listed here.
[break]Magic Element and Types: Smoke | Supplementary
[break]Combat Style: Due to their small stature and lack of offensive capabilities, they fight much like cornered rats, using their teeth and claws to lash out while trying to find somewhere to run and hide where no one can get them. To this end, they also use their ash magic to disappear into a puff of smoke and reappear somewhere in their line of sight. When given the chance, they will be running straight home.
[break]Additional Information: These furry little humanoids stand at a height no taller than twenty centimeters, making them fairly easy to step on or trip over. Possessing large ears and eyes by which to pick up on potential threats fairly quickly, they also possess large claws and sharp teeth, as well as a set of horns and a tail. Their dark skin and fur colors make them hard to spot in the dark.
If it wasn’t for Mania’s adeptness with the use of Sensory Tokage was sure they would have lost the imps quite awhile ago. They were fast small and seemed to teleport out of your line of sight whenever possible, Tokage likened it to a fleeing rat in nature. They did try to swipe at them at first during the pursuit but it was obvious that they didn’t have the heart to commit and Tokage and Mania seemed able to dodge them quite easily. “This is strange where could they be going and why does it feel like we are being lead.” Tokage said past the gasps for air as they had been running for some time no longer inside the town of Aries Garse but now on the outskirts, the building becoming more run down as they went, looking at their surroundings more to make sure they didn’t get lost Tokage noticed that there was a large house that upon quick look didn’t seem to raise any alarms but there was something about it that formed a knot in Tokage’s stomach. [break][break]
“Mania I think they are taking us to that house, the one with the green exterior and collapsed porch” Tokage explained to his companion as they grew closer pointing out the dilapidated building, it seemed like Tokage’s intuition was correct because he caught sight of the tail end of a imp disappearing into the basement of the building through some small broken windows. Stopping to catch his breath and gain some semblance of composure before beginning Tokage turned to Mania, “Glad you were able to sense where they were going during that chase if it had been left up to me we would still be looking for tracks.” He said with a smirk, the young Shengxiao had no issue pointing out his weaknesses only because he felt if he didn’t it would cause him to have a false sense of confidence that could lead him to overestimate his own ability. [break][break]
“So run down building in the middle of the cruddiest part of town, I’m not saying that this is a cliché situation but come on a bit on the nose don’t you think.” Tokage complained as he looked over the building he was inspecting the outside to see if there was any clues to traps or surprises that he might be able to glean from the outside but he wasn’t able to tell anything but that also let him relax just a tad because there wasn’t any physical signs of entering or exiting the building beyond the very few imp tracks. “How would you like to approach this? We know they are in there, there are signs everywhere.” Tokage started as he cupped his chin in his hand thinking, “We just don’t know if anything else is in there.” [break][break]

TL;DR Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
Exasperated breaths would be exhaled as Mania and Tokage continued their query. At the outskirts of Aries Garse now, the two found themselves in a heavily dilapidated area. It had been long abandoned, left to wither slowly in obscurity. "Yer right, that's where their odd mana signature is strongest." Mana replied as he closely observed the strange building eroded by time and nature. It appeared no different than a typical abandoned house, but their was a peculiar oddness emanating from it. Thick and obtrusive the sensation lingered in the air about, like a haze or smog.
"I try to be useful. It is the month of ghouls and ghosts after all."
Mania coolly stated, half-heartedly laughinig as his gait would come to a steady stop right before the abandoned home. The rogue appreciated the earnest praise from Tokage, he could tell it was genuine. Mania just had a gut feeling about it.
"Dunno. I think we should just go in through the front. Can't say I'm to knowledgeable on these imps so I'm sure whatever is inside will definitely be a surprise."
Whatever lurked inside, Mania and Tokage would just have to investigate. They had come too far to simply turn around and truthfully Mania had taken a keen interest in these creatures. Where did they come from? Why they committed these actions. There were so many thoughts muddling Mania's mind as he pondered the thoughts deeply. Mania would bury his hands into his pockets and walk up towards the house. The old steps squeaked and groaned felt as if they were giving way. He would step through the small space between barricaded door, easily gaining access inside. It was about what the rogue expected, though the house itself was quite large and spacious.
Mania could hear the Imps skulking all throughout, keeping to the shadows and lying in wait.
"There's a strange light coming from the stairway."
Speaking to Tokage, Mania had noticed green glow. The rogue did not want to move recklessly, instead he would approach cautiously and peek up the stairs. The light was fiercely brighter and the otherworldly beacon painted the area upstairs in it's haunting, green image.
"I don't see anything, but feels like those imps are everywhere. We should move carefully, I don't really feel like losing a finger or ear to those things."
Slowly Mania would climb the stairs, leaping over the gaps from the missing steps. At the top the hall way stretched out, splitting into two paths. It was easy to tell that the light was being emitted from the room at the very end so that would be the obvious place to investigate, but Mania would pause, listening to the faint scurrying steps of nearby monsters. They were moving and it seemed that whatever was in that room, they weren't gonna just let the two men do as they please. Mania would channel his mana, the grimoire belted at his hip would float from it's resting place.
It was good to see he wasn’t the only one out of breath from all the running and it seemed that Mania had a good enough sense of humor to quip back when Tokage attempted his hand at some kind of banter. He was thankful that the partner he got for this mission was someone he got along with or else this mission could have easily turned into a very weary experience. “The straight forward approach, definitely not the worst idea.” Tokage mentioned as he followed behind Mania as the fellow mage easily fit through the gaps of the boards on the front door, Tokage had a slight tough time doing the same due to his own size but he was able to make it through without to much noise. Though as soon as they were in the house it was obvious that the imps they had been following knew they were there and were simply staying out of sight as if they were watching to see what the two intruders did.[break][break]
It was like the chase they weren’t exactly friendly but they weren’t overly hostile. It was a strange experience overall Tokage was use to monsters being monsters that simply attacked and were open with their intent he wasn’t sure what to make about these ones. Beyond what he could recall from stories his mother told him he had no clue why there would be imps here. Though it seemed that they might get an answer if they followed the bright green light that came from the second floor up the stairs. Mania proved his nimbleness as he easily cleared gaps in the stairs and made his way through the house without so much as a creak. Tokage just hoped he didn’t fall through the floor and tried his best to follow the same steps as his companion. They were about to reach the top of the stairs when Tokage noticed Mania take out his Grimiore and could sense the influx of mana from the boy. He nodded and prepared himself and his magic as they grew closer to the room where the light seemed to be originating from.[break][break]
Tokage grabbed the handle to the door and nodded at Mania twisting the handle and bursting into the room with his sword drawn and ready to attack the first thing he saw but to his surprise all he was faced with was a large green ring of fire that seemed to shimmer and float in the air. Even with his lack of sensory even he could tell this thing was made of pure magic and wasn’t something they should casually approach. “What the hell is that?” Tokage blurted out as he lowered his weapon, “It looks like a doorway to hell or something.” He muttered out loud. Tokage didn’t have much experience with portals or the like and only barely scratched the surface on those magics in his studies but even he wasn’t sure what it was.[break][break]
For a moment he was to absorbed in the mystery fire hole to notice that the constant sound of scurrying and pitter patter of tiny feet had disappeared. As if all the imps had all collectively stopped at the same time and that caused Tokage to freeze himself. “Why aren’t the beasties moving? That can not be a good sign right?” Tokage asked to Mania, he was scanning the room looking for any sign of the sudden silence and besides the fact they had simply entered the room he had nothing. It wasn’t till a single imp seemingly appeared in the corner of the room staring intently at Tokage, with a slow pace and a clear sign of caution the imp approached the fire circle and just as quickly as he appeared disappeared inside of the circle. [break][break]
“Oh shit, its some kind of portal.” Tokage said as it hit him. “But why is there a portal here and why is it for imps? Is it natural or did someone make it?” The questions flowed out of Tokage as he stared at the portal in awe.[break][break]

It burned hauntingly - fiercely bright in the sable pitch room. The alien green glow was hypnotically mesmerizing, Mania held captive in the fire's seductive arms; like, a moth inexplicably drawn to the flame. The rogue would slowly draw closer to inspect the enigma, his face and amalgam of puzzled fascination and palatable fear. As Mania drew nearer, he could tell almost instinctively that it was a door to somewhere. Absorbed in thought Mania wasn't listening as Tokage spoke - his partner perplexed though unwittingly spot on. One would almost be conjured from the darkness as if summoned by the thought from Mania's partner. Cautiously the imp approached, it's hesitant steps backed by warning eyes Mania looked into. The imp would flee inside the fire, disappearing altogether as if it were a peculiarity of the mind - a magic trick?
"You tell me?"
Mania would finally respond, but his bet would be on a deeply rooted scheme. Buried at the heart of this mystery. Waving his hand through the portal he could feel that it was not hot, but warm to the touch. The young rogue had long dreamed of spatial magic. It was true freedom. Years ago when Mania was a boy, he longed to leave the cold lands of his home country. He would curse his freezing nights, wishing for that very freedom with his scornful tongue. What was really unraveling at the seams? Mania pondered, his hand resting upon his chin. "Can't leave this here, best close the portal right?" Mania stated, he didn't know too much on this type of magic, but he assumed magic was the best bet if any to their problem of removing it. Mania would stand to his feet taking a step back and summon his grimoire. "Might want to take a step back Tokage!" The young rogue would warn Tokage, whilst his grimoire opened to page one and glowed with a silver energy that permeated throughout.
"Mercury Magic: Marrow of the Moon!"
Magic would spurn in the immediate area, from Mania's grimoire a large mass of thick mercury would be birthed. Typically this was a spell Mania used for defense, but the rogue surmised he could maybe cut off the connection to the portal's host. By blocking the magical signature with his own, Mania could interfere with the connection and interrupt it . It was all merely speculation, but worth a shot. The mercury would congeal into a large sphere, fully containing the proverbial gateway. Only the liquid surface of Mania's mercury magic was visible as everything in the roomed melded with shadows. The odd, green light vanishing like the flicker of fire from a candle blown in the night.
"Do you think the imps truly have need for robbing people? I'm of the sneaking disposition that they have no need for Yul. Someone is manipulating all of this to orchestrate chaos and become rich, while everyone is none the wiser. Makes perfect sense if you sit back and think about it."
The simpler the answer, the closer to the truth Mania was. If you looked past the glamor of the crime it would become clear that the one thing odd from the narrative was people losing Yul. It didn't quite fit with the spooky atmospheric aesthetic set. Focusing his magic to contain the portal Mania would keep his magic manifested for a while longer. "I'm not sure if this will work to be honest, cant say I've ever closed a portal. Mania proclaimed through a half chuckle. If his plan failed it would be up to Tokage to think of something.
Name of Spell: Mercury Magic: Marrow of the Moon Elemental Type: Mercury Rank & Spell Type: Junior | Defense Creation Range & Speed: 10 m AOE | 10 m/s Mana Cost: 8 | 4 Stats Effected: -- Applicable Perks: Mana Conservationist, Aegis Description: Mania creates a large pool of mercury magic that he can manipulate into a smooth semi-spherical dome around himself. This mass of mercury maintains its semi-liquid state, only hardening upon impact from an enemy spell. Mania upon casting can also choose to expand this ability, protecting anything inside the 10 m AOE radius. The Magic doesn't completely envelop Mania or friendly allies, instead, the front has a gap for Mania or others to maintain the vision of targets, but can close up if needed to defend. Spell is activated by speaking the spell's name aloud.
Tokage listened to Mania’s speculation about someone controlling the Imps and having them cause all the troubles going on. It was a solid connection since the stories that his mother use to tell him as a child said imps just played harmless pranks and that was about it, causing bodily harm and stealing purely yul wasn’t exactly the same kind of pranks he had imagined. Also with how they were acting towards Mania and Tokage they clearly didn’t want to cause any kind of harm to them and he would even wager that they had purposely lead the two to this very portal with the intent of having it closed for them. [break][break]
“Yeah they do pranks but even these ones are a bit more harmful then what they would typically do from what I have heard” Tokage said as he agreed with Mania. “It looks like whatever you are doing to it now seems to be working so that is a plus.” Tokage mentioned as he studied the magic that Mania was using, it was the first time he had seen the element and he was curious about other’s magic anyways. In the middle of examining the mercury covered portal the extinguished green flame reappeared and while it was kept small it was slowly getting bigger. “Well I guess that didn’t work, though it did have some kind of effect on the magic so that’s a good sign.” It was Tokage’s turn to attempt to get rid of this portal, it was something that had to be taken care of but Tokage wasn’t sure what he could do to it since he didn’t have any spells that could engulf it like Mania. [break][break]
It was then when an idea popped into the mage’s mind, while the flame was small he could have one of his golem’s engulf it maybe that would break the spell. Already he let his mana flow and whistled his low tune which summoned his Mastiff Golem normally he would have summoned it at its full height but due to how small the house was and its condition he had to be closer to his height. “Engulf the flame.” Tokage commanded his golem. [break][break]
The Mastiff looking golem approached the portal that was still small and opened where a mouth would be on a regular creature and “ate” the portal though when they touched each other a smaller black orb seemed to appear and the portal was sucked into the orb completely disappearing with the sound of a small pop. Tokage even with his low ability in sensory was able to tell the portal had been receiving mana but now that sense was gone it was like it had just been taken out of existence. “Well then, I’m not to good at sensory but I can’t sense a thing from where the portal is.” Tokage said as he stared at his golem, who seemed perfectly fine and was just standing there awaiting a command. “Am I the only one who saw the orb forming? Cause that isn’t apart of any abilities I know of my golems.” Tokage looked at Mania in confusion. Never before had his golems made any kind of orbs like that before and it wasn’t something that came to mind when he had learned to use them. The only Golems that he knew that could make things appear like that would be the highest tier golems and Tokage was no where near that level of ability. [break][break]
“Tonight has been strange to say the least hasn’t it Mania?” Tokage said with a sigh, he couldn’t figure out what had happened or what had caused it to happen but he decided it would probably be best to simply push it aside and worry about what was in front of them for now which was trying to figure out where to go from here. It had seemed that with the closing of the Gate that the remaining imps didn’t disappear instead the laughter begun once again and the skittering of claws along the ground intensified as if their actions had excited all the imps in the house though that sound all seemed to start moving in strange direction as if it was flooding out into the town and moving away from the house. Rushing to the closest window Tokage looked out and watched as groups of imps started to dash across the ground moving off into other areas. He even could swear that some of them stopped and looked at him like a dog leading a hunter to its prey. [break][break]
“I think were suppose to follow them some more Mania.” Tokage said as he looked at his companion. “I guess we aren’t done with whatever is going on just yet.” [break][break]

TL;DR Chisana cast Mastiff a JR golem spell summoning 1 JR Guardian Golem, using Dark's ability to Black Hole spells Tokage caused the Portal to be closed by erasing it from existence. [break][break]
Mana used: 10 for Jr spell, regenned 10 due to not being in combat. Mana cost is 0.
Spell Element: Dark Spell Rank: Junior Mana Cost: 10 | 5 Type of Golem: Guardian Applicable Perks: Reinforced Golems Description: Whistling a low note and supplying the necessary mana to his grimoire Tokage summons a 4 meter tall golem that is in the shape and likeness of a mastiff guard dog. It is made of pure darkness. It is able to carry 1 person according to the transportation rules, moves at 1.5m. Tokage is able to summon a maximum of 5 Golems as long as he has the needed Control (10, 20, 30, 40, 50). It can create small black holes to absorb spells, must be +5 in durability to the opposing spells main stat in regards to clashing, to succeed.
Mania had concluded his reasoning was sound, backed behind simple logic, but his attempts to disperse the portal had failed. Releasing his mercury magic as the luminous green glow returned the heavily shadow, shrouded room Mania would thumb his chin. Perplexed, he would turn back to Tokage gesturing for the man to give it his own attempt. "Still, not much good it did huh?" Mania would reply as he stepped back and observed with keen eyes that flashed lucidly in the darkness. The rogue felt the swelling of mana from Tokage as he summoned a golem - its body as black as the ebony twilight night sky. Its appearance was that of a mastiff guard dog and the magic Tokage wielded was different from shadow magic. The rogue for lack of a better word was left speechless as to what kind of magic it was, but if he had to guess he reckoned he was watching the legendary dark magic. A fabled power said to belong to those who were in the realm of mythos and legend.
Tokage had just become even more interesting to the rogue as he watched the golem, enamored by the fascinating dark magic. The dark golem would eat the green, glowing portal, extinguishing the light forevermore as the ebony cloaked room once more was engulfed in shadows - the black golem melding with the darkness that consumed. Sucked into the black void Mania watched as the portal was pickpocketed from the room right before his eyes. Truly it was powerful and unique magic not many had the privilege to witness first. Nobles sure had it great Mania would muse as he took a step forward to inspect the area the portal had been before vanishing. Confirming the magical presence was completely erased by Tokage's dark magic. "Neither can I. That's some impressive magic friend. Can't say I've seen anything of the like before..." Mania would state coolly as he replied to Tokage's inquiry with a shrug of his shoulders.
Mania couldn't honestly say, speechless at what he witnessed. If it had taken Tokage for a loop, Mania was by no means an exception - he too was lost at what transpired. "One of the strangest of my life truth be told." As the rogue replied as he listened to the frantic scratching at the floorboards. The imps seemed to be on the move, sensing the portal was no longer open at their location. Their mad laughter echoed throughout the dilapidated house, reverberating through the old wood. The imps sounded as if they were all in a hurry to leave, Mania following Tokage to the cracked window. From their vantage point, they witnessed the imps evacuating in a hurry, heading back towards town under the veil of darkness. It seemed that whatever was happening that the request was still far from completion - the true mastermind behind this plot was still unknown. Pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
Mania and Tokage would just have to play a tad longer he mused. It was definitely going to be a very long night indeed. As Mania watched the imps scurry across the shadowed fields, he was busy crunching the numbers of this scheme. Attempting to solve it as he delved into the deepest parts of his mind. The rogue was trying to find connections. No matter how small, minute or insignificant things could always be traced back to the roots. Everything in the world in some way or another shared an intrinsic connection, linking them together was the hard part. Who stood to gain the most from these string of robberies veiled by mischief? Mania had been in town for quite a while and even though the young rogue kept his ears to the ground none came immediately to mind. However; that only meant Mania needed to dig deeper to unearth the hidden secret behind the ruse.
"Looks that way to me Tokage, but why does it feel as if the imps are leading us? Well, whatever the reason it seems like we are far from finished."
Mania would close his eyes and feel out the mana in the area, searching for the Imps, particularly unique magic signature. Things could get more dangerous Mania mused to himself as he would make his way back down the crumbling staircase and outside where the cool, autumn air felt refreshing. Mania wasn't an athlete and all this running was definitely getting the young rogue's blood pumping, but he couldn't say he was exactly happy to be chasing the fleet of foot creatures all across the town Aries Garse. Mania would nod towards Tokage as the two once more vanished into the night, chasing the imps as Mania attempted to follow their mana. The two couldn't let them get too far or Mania would lose track of the Imps. As they moved through the night Mania went back to his earlier thoughts. He really wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery.
He had questions for the mastermind, some the rogue figured he would never get a straight answer to as he internally pondered. Mania also made a mental note of the portal's location. If there was one, there was bound to be more. Probably littered throughout Aries Garse, but if there was a connection to be made, Mania would piece it together. Riddles were meant to be solved, no matter how well put together and crafty they were. Mania knew the person behind this was probably intelligent - one had to be to come up with such a scheme, but also it spoke to his abilities not only as a mage but the resources they had available. The more the rogue dived into the matter as they traveled back to town, the more he was left wondering. Lost in endless hypothesis Mania was still no closer to uncovering the truth behind the imps. Behind the mysterious, green portal and behind the ringleader.

This job is approved! I wonder where those imps are off too. Good job closing that portal using defensive mercury magic to disrupt the signal to some degree, and then a darkness golem to "eat it" but I too wonder, just what was that eerie orb? I suppose time will tell. Those sticky fingers of yours help you find some of that stolen coin by the Imps on the way out.
As you continue on your journey you can take this Yul with you. Mania is awarded | 923 Yul Tokage is awarded | 738 Yul
