With the crows dead in the field, the rest of that particular night goes by splendidly as you find no signs to indicate that the scarecrows themselves were ever an issue. Once dawns comes, you explain the situation to the farmer, who tells you to either sit out the remainder of the day in a nearby tavern as he is not convinced. When you return at the start of the next night, you notice the amount of scarecrows has seemingly doubled, which is quite odd as the farmer has no knowledge of how they got there, claiming they just appeared. More importantly, as the sky grows darker and darker, you hear the howling of wolves in the distance.

Health Limit: Junior [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Junior [break]Magic Element and Types: - [break]Combat Style: These rugged looking crows are fierce attacks, the speed at which they move around in flight making them fairly tough to hit while their pecking and their sharp talons can cause some painful wounds. [break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these crows being active at night is weird enough as it is as they are not known to be a nocturnal species. Flocking about and seemingly watching those from atop a barn or a fence as they move around the farmland, they bide their time and wait for the right moment to swoop down and attack in large numbers.
Health Limit: Intermediate [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Intermediate [break]Magic Element and Types: - [break]Combat Style: As can be expected of wolves, these beasts attack in ways that benefit one another. As one might make a mock attack to draw attention, another will move in for the kill by going for the throat, an artery or the Achilles heel of any warrior: the Achilles heel. [break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these wolves come in three different colors, which is by itself quite odd. Some of them are brown, some are grey while others are black as soot. Proving that they are more than likely not from the same litter, or even from the same part of the world, there is clearly something odd about them.

[attr="class","temppost"] Having found no signs to indicate that the scarecrows were the cause for concern, Magnus alongside his partner for the mission, a young intelligent magic knight from the Green Mantis, Magnus found that it was safe to go home for the time being. It took a bit of time by carriage, but it provided him with enough time to let his thoughts ruminate. He had already found that things aren't always what they appear to be and the feeling in his gut that he got from the intake of natural mana around him made him yearn for more answers that he knew were possibly just beyond the reach of his thoughts. Something was missing, too many pieces that had yet to come into scope. As he ruminated on his thoughts, he opted to spend the time creating some small paintings. Haven pulled a simple notebook out from his suit jacket's inner breast pocket, he'd use his paintbrush wand to create small portraits of the farm and the scarecrows alongside their placing to remember the landscapes. He figured he'd document them in case anything changed and on the off chance nothing did the paintings themselves would make for light snacks for his mischievous paint Spirit.
As he made it home he was able to get settled in, immediately wash, and rest. He had no time for other pleasantries like food or even his usual skincare routine, his skin and hair were clear of the dirt, and grime of the fields and that would have to be enough for now. After all, he had planned to meet up again once more with Frankie the next day and so that meant he would have very little time in preparing for his journey unless he wanted to be late, and tardiness wasn't an option. As such, when he awoke, he had a big breakfast as intended, dressed in an identical suit to one the day before, and made his way back to carriage and travel. He did, however, have his estate manager Margaret pack a travel case, some overnight supplies, and essentials into the carriage before he left. As such before he made his way to the meet-up spot he had made sure to the night's stay in the nearby tavern that was suggested by the farmer. That was close enough to the farmlands where it would only take him only an hour of travel instead of more than half a day. Just in case the situation came to a close without it really truly being anything nefarious at play Magnus had made sure the tavern was on the same travel path he would take to go home, that way he could grab his things, and simply be good to go in one concise trip.
However, Magnus had a gut feeling that tonight's things would possibly be more interesting. He had even gotten notice that more help could possibly be arriving, although he himself had not sent for such. Come nightfall Magnus had made his way back to the same meet-up location he originally met Frankie was in. Only to look around see that the scarecrows had doubled in size, a small smirk would arch itself at the corner of his lips as he observed the scenic farmland in front of him ripe with the wooden and straw-filled contraptions. "Well, I suppose either a prank is being pulled or something else is going on, perhaps the farmer may have made them?" Magnus suggested though he thought it unlikely the question begged at least checking for formalities sake in his mind.
Upon meeting up with the farmer they would simply be told "I ain't seen nothing, and I don't know nothin', all's I know is I hired you'se all to fix it, and now there's more of the damn things and even more of those crows." The farmer screamed as he shook his fist at them. His face grew red, and when they questioned him he wouldn't meet their eyes. Whenever Magnus or others would try to ask if the man had seen anything else strange or perhaps had heard anything else within the night they would simply be met with silence after having the door angrily slammed in their faces. His broken jargon almost made Magnus want to cringe, but he had heard the farmer's country tang in accents before over his years of travel, however, this man seemed more defensive than what Magnus thought needed to be warranted. As such he made a mental note of the farmer filling him under the category of suspicious, before moving toward the fields again.
As he looked up to the night sky, he noticed that the formally gray cloud had grown increasingly darker in its hue, it was even beginning to blot out the moon. He was sure that at some point tonight the sky could very well end up black as ink. The caw of crows resounded throughout the farmland as Frankie and Magnus would move, it almost seemed as if they were actively watching them, as they'd flock about, staring at them from fences and barns, like they were just waiting for an opening. Magnus had left Fantelo in atop his shoulders this time, and many of the crows seemed to follow and watch upon him at times more than they did Magnus. Yet Magnus had no idea why, maybe it was because he ate the other crows the former night, or perhaps it was because he was a spirit, but Magnus couldn't be sure. What he could but in turn what he did know was that crows weren't nocturnal so it was odd for them to be out as the night proceeded to get darker. "Strange isn't it. All these crows out here still, and even more scarecrows. I feel something wicked may be at play here, Frankie." Magnus stated in a somber tone, and nearly moments after he had finished stating such the howl of a wolf could be heard in the distance.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
As far as Frankie was concerned after leaving the farm the job had only revealed that the scarecrows that were on duty had been poorly made as they were incapable of scaring off any of the crows that seemed to be in the area. The whole affair felt a bit of a bust to the mad mage. He had figured it wouldn't amount to much, but he had been hoping to put the entire thing to bed. He despised leaving things without resolution, it itched at the part of his brain who hated unsolved puzzles. He was certain that the culprit or culprits would end up being mischievous teens having a laugh and using some form of Sensory or Golem magic to move the scarecrows and scare the hapless farmer. The fact that they had found no sign of any of that frustrated Frankie to no end. In fact beyond the crows, that had decided to harass himself and Magnus at the end, there hadn't been a single thing out of the ordinary. No obvious signs that the scarecrows had been tampered with, no evidence that could lead them to where the scarecrows had been made, no tracks or footprints to help show how the scarecrows had moved or where they had come from. It was all terribly annoying, mysteries were meant to be solved!
He supposed it wasn't all terrible though. In fact, Frankie felt he was getting more out of this entire experience then the Yul that had been promised by the farmer if it was all taken care of. After all, not only did he find out that his new partner in this endeavor was talented in Paint magic, but he also seemed to have some sort of Mana Beast or Spirit! Paint magic in itself was a curiosity, it was about as rare as his own Carbon Matter, but it held a versatility that helped distinguish it from Frankie's element. However, the small creature that Magnus had brought with him last time was another matter entirely. Up to this point, Stein, had yet to have any real opportunities to study either. He'd heard of Mana Beasts being used to protect various bases or facilities. He also knew that Spirits although very rare were occasionally attracted to mages and would form bonds with them. However, neither had been something he had gotten a chance to study yet. Although he was pretty sure, based on literature, that asking if he could dissect the cat like creature would be considered rude. He was hoping he might be able to at least study it from afar. That was really his biggest reason for agreeing with Magnus' request to visit the farm the next day and continue their investigation.
Although Hage was not very far from the small village Frankie had opted to pay the absolute minimum Yul to simply stay in the stable of the small inn within the village. No sense paying more than that when some hay would do just fine. Because of that he was still covered in small bits of straw when he finally made his way back to the farm the next night, around the same time the pair had met previously. Because of that he was just in time to catch Magnus remarking on the sudden developments that had seemed to occur overnight on the farm. "If it is a prank then those behind it are very bold. No doubt word would have spread by now that the farmer had hired some help and that one of those was a Magic Knight. Even the most rambunctious of kids would have thought it smart to back off for a little while until the heat had died down as it were. So either someone does not care for consequences or there is something else going on." Frankie was honestly surprised by the increase in scarecrows. As he said, he had figured that whoever was behind all this would have backed off for a little while. It's not like Frankie or Magnus could do look into this for weeks on end. Eventually if nothing came up they'd have to back off and whoever was behind it could resume their antics. To go forward was just reckless if they were being remotely logical about it.
"I thought I could be rude." Was all Frankie had said when they both had confronted the farmer. The mad mage had met his fair share of ornery commoners. People who were bitter about their lot in life and instead of trying to change it seemed to direct that bitterness out into the world. He couldn't blame these sorts of people too much. The system seemed design to keep opportunities limited for folks anywhere, but especially in the Forsaken Region. Still, that didn't mean they couldn't do more if they pushed themselves. Frankie knew that most people in the region would happily take whatever help could be offered and appreciate it, unlike the farmer. Although Frankie had some choice words for the farmer he decided to keep them to himself until all this was over. Besides, the small creature had in fact made a return, clearly visible on Magnus' shoulder, and Frankie did not want to miss his chance by having them be kicked off the property for berating the rude fellow.
Frankie had been prepared for another potentially boring stroll through the field. However, before they could even begin their investigation the mad mage became increasingly aware of the number of crows that had begun to gather. Looking around it didn't seem to be a lot more then the numbers they had seen yesterday, but what was strange was the fact that they were gathering at all. Magnus hadn't failed to notice the odd nature of it as well based on his comment. "Peculiar... Crows are intelligent creatures. They should have noticed that a number of them had died here yesterday and should have avoided this place. Them coming here is very out of their nature given yesterday." Frankie was still trying to figure out the crows when he too heard the wolves. The howl wasn't nearly as far as he would have expected, such animals usually preferring to give villages a wide berth unless driven by starvation. As far as he was aware the season hadn't been unkind for hunting so there shouldn't be such a case for any wolves. "That's too coincidental to be a coincidence. Better to be prepared." A hypothesis was beginning to form and Frankie was not going to be unprepared in case it proved to be correct. The pages of his grimoire opened as he spoke aloud, "Earthen Raptor!" At the command phrase Carbon spilled from his book as drawn from the pages and molded until four large eagles stood ready. If something was about to happen the eagles would heed his word and move.

"I agree, however, my feelings lean more toward the latter. It is that time of year, after all, stranger things have happened and I'm sure will continue too." This after all was information that had been told to him with some previous traveling companions and their whole imp debacle. In fact, from what he knew that man had gotten himself into all kinds of situations similar to this even on the tamest of seasons.
With the duo having been rudely turned away by the farmer Magnus had decided to voice his opinions with Frankie, waiting patiently until they were without earshot of the farmer's house he'd speak in hushed tones, cautious in case there were onlookers, like those stalking crows. "Something more is going on here, and I have a feeling the farmer is withholding information or perhaps involved. It's just a matter of connecting how."
Magnus took note of Frankie's observation about the crows, and as he looked around he noticed that the crow's eyes were stark white, devoid of any pupil or iris, these crows were unnatural, and to him, they seemed almost supernatural in appearance. Magnus had come across his fair show of adventures in his youth, in a world where a man could use magic, it was only natural that the world would, in turn, have its own magic that could cause all matter of phenomenon, from naturally given curses to mana beast mutations, to high mana zones, even the supernatural. His last couple of weeks have shown such to him in spades and had opened his eyes to new wonders. His new dwarven body could feel things from the natural mana around him, it was strange, an overbearing and encroaching feeling felt as if it was slowly sneaking up on him with each passing day that he found himself in the area. In his gut, he could feel that something more here was at play, and such he became dead set on discovering what it was. However, he knew such things would only come in time, and now that he knew that these crows were supernatural in origin, he had no remorse in taking them out less they become a threat.
As they'd come upon the last scarecrow for inspection the full moon was just a day off now, but even so, the sky was cast with shades of dark and gray that all but eclipsed the moon's brilliance. Only on occasion did it peak through the crowds illuminating the eerie farmland around the duo and spirit. Frankie had cast his magic, and to Magnus's delight it turned out to be golem magic. Magnus himself had recently discovered that when alongside Griswold and Conner that he himself had the capacity and talent for such magic. In addition, to such Magnus felt his own mana and magic usage had increased in spades. "I agree, Frankie," Magnus said as he marveled at the man's magic with lingering eyes. He took out his own paintbrush wands, gripping them within the gaps of his fingers, and began to draw, painting on the very air itself using his mana as a canvas of its own. As he did he took a stalk of the crows around him, with the usage of Frankie's magic, the crows seemed to flow into action. Igniting themselves into flight with multiple flaps of their wings, they'd below out a cacophony of "caws" that seemed to further flow into the ear-splitting howls that grew closer in the distance.
5 of the crows would begin the flock around the duo, circling around before diving down toward Magnus. Fantelo's fur rose, and he began to hiss at the crows that deemed to interrupt his rest. Not one to let the Spirit be annoyed any longer than he deemed necessary, Magnus quickly realized these crows were no different in strength or speed than the ones previously destroyed. He adjusted his mana accordingly, feeling like now was a good time to hold back to use his mana in the most efficient way possible, once more he'd paint out a blue rose, just as he had done before, overlapping and interlacing the blue, white, and gray hues of paint. "~Field of Wonder" Magnus muttered while flowing motion into his painting, the blue rose bushels would burst outward in a stream to overtake the crows, as the crows had initially dodged, Magnus would simply trigger the explosive component of his spell via sheer will and mana, with the flick of his paintbrush wand the petal turned sharp painted shards jotted outward impaling the crows dropping them to either side of the mages, coated in blue and gray paint in the dirt clearing around the two of them. The other crows would caw in protest and outrage, the howling wolves, multiple paws treading could be heard now, ever-increasing in volume.
Their sound increased as 6 blurs of brown, gray and black could be seen in the occasional clearings of the corn stalks around the duo of mages. Luckily the two of them would be standing in a clearing just a small ways away from one of the center scarecrows in the field's distance. The night had become chilled now, and rustling came from all sides in small bursts, before coming to a coordinated halt, 6 wolves would slowly begin to peak and weave from in and out of the corn stalks 15 meters around them, stalking the duo of mages. Of the 6 there came in pairs of colors being tawny brown, steel gray, and soot-black. They pranced in and out of the field almost as if they were dancing, if it weren't for their stalk white eyes and snarling, Magnus would've thought they were putting on a show for them, but instead it looked almost as if they were trying to divide the duo's attention. 5 more of the crows would take flight around them, circling once before as the other now-departed crows did.
As Magnus watched the wolves circle and dance, he couldn't help but be amazed, as well as vindicated that something more was indeed going on here, just as Frankie and he had expected. But even more so, Magnus found himself becoming engrossed in their movement, their differentiating colors, it was as if they were all from different regions, these wolves all had characteristics that set them apart as unique besides their matching stalk white eyes, and as he observed them, his facilitation grew for just what caused such a grouping of wolves and crows to become like they are, let alone target the duo. Magnus could feel the intake of natural mana around him now, that same encroaching feeling he had seemed to be centered around the wolves closest to him more than anything. However, this was little more than a gut feeling to Magnus as his talents in sensory magic were practically nonexistent besides what the average mage was capable of.
Magnus, however, soon noticed his arms moving almost as if by instinct, without truly realizing it he had begun sketching these wolves, and as he became more conscious over his moment of inspiration he found himself tracing out a deeper outline of the prancing wolves, generously adding more colors into it, a feeling that at this moment he couldn't help but feel, a familiar sensation that was peaceful and serene even in such a high intense situation. To Magnus, it felt often what most athletic people would refer to as a "zone" of sorts, a state of supreme and concentrated focus. Magnus grimoire would begin to glow, before floating alongside him, the book would open coated and glistening in his paint magic before the pages would begin to shuffle through erratically, he'd paint colors of light greens, hues of blue, rust, and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, in doing so he created a painting in the visage of three wolves, letting his mana breath life into them as he did so.
Magnus felt a brilliant spark of information and before he knew out the knowledge of the spell fluttered into his mind. With a somber tone, he’d voice out the words “~Life Art: Tranquil Lupine”, the painted golems in the visage of wolves would stalk around Magnus and Frankie almost in a defensive nature, as he commanded it to do so through the use of his mana tethered to them. The painted wolves however looked calm, and before Magnus knew it he was already letting more paint flow from the tip of his brush. He had worked with enough Magic Knights by now to know that they at least had proportionate strength to the tasks they took on. “Well, I guess our assumptions are correct. It’s definitely something more than what we initially thought it was.” Magnus mused as he began to twirl his paintbrushes between his fingers, waiting for Frankie and the creatures to make their move.

Summary: Magnus communicates with Frankie, he states that crazy and supernatural things just seem to happen more this time of year, he also states once further away from the farmer's location and out of earshot that he believes the farmer is withholding information. As the night gets darker and they inspect the scarecrows, eventually they find themselves in an opening in a dirt field, surrounded by high stalks all around them. Magnus states that the crows are unnatural given the state of their eyes and behavior. As Frankie uses his spell, 5 of the crows began to attack, and Magnus kills them using his spell "Field of Wonder", in addition, as those crows fall to their deaths around them, 5 more crows began to circle above, and are about to dive down for attack, just like the former. The wolves move in close enough to surround them and begin to weave in and out of the dirt field around them, which is approximately 15 meters from the center as designated by the scarecrow in the middle, the wolves are also unnatural and have whites of their eyes and distinctively different colors.
Players with this perk have the option to charge attack-based spells up for as long as they want to build up that spell's power. That particular spell will be treated as having an additional +5 in power per post that it is charged with a max charge of 3 posts. When charging a player will pay the sustain cost of that spell, on the post that they wish to execute the spell it will cost the spell's full price. Players can only charge up a single spell at a given time!
Description: Magnus begins to draw with his paintbrush flowing mana through the brush and paint as he does so, the paint takes the color of frost blue and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, Magnus creates a field of light grey and frost blue roses. Breathing life into them with his mana these roses burst outward flowing toward the target in a arc, looking to overwhelm the target with them. These roses are made with paint pigments that emulate the look of the freeze element. The roses are 7inch bushels grouped together to equal to 3 meters in size but focusing can be made into one large mass of 10-meter rose bushels. Following the ammo rules, Magnus can create a number of additional roses based on his control stat to launch at a target. When Field of Wonder makes contact with a target, or simply reaches the end of its range, its behavior is determined by Magnus; it can either dissipate then and there, or it can explode into a flurry of sharp petals made from the roses that will cut targets within a 10-meter area. As per ammo rules, Magnus can fire off multiple Field of Wonders. However, if he chooses to make the roses detonate, the area of effect must be reduced proportionately; half as large (5 meters) for two roses, a third as large (3.3 meters) for three, etc. Attempting to cause Junior rank damage, minor cuts and bruises, and minor damage. The force of the bursting roses can knock back targets. Knock Back is calculated by 2m + 5 for every 10 power Magnus has.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
A few minutes ago and Frankie might have blown off all of Magnus' talk about the farmer knowing more than he was letting on or perhaps being involved in some more meaningful way. The notion would have seemed a little say. Perhaps projecting a frustration over the man's rude attitude towards a deeper meaning then there truly was. However, it was hard to argue the point as they found a flock of crows bearing down on them. The eyes of the birds an unnatural pale hue that seemed to reflect the light of the moon above in a most mystical manner. A commoner might not have the full understanding of how magic worked or might be prone to believe superstitions or the like. It was a simple byproduct of their more limited upbringing. They just didn't have access to the same resources or teachers that those in the big cities could have. So, they might not always understand fully what they might run into out in the Forsaken Region, far from protective walls. However, if these crows had been hanging around for some time ignoring the scarecrows there was simply no way that the farmer could have not noticed their unique appearance. Even if he was keeping himself indoors all night, eventually he would have spotted one at some point and should have made a note of it. The fact that he didn't say anything about them was definitely suspicious.
The mad mage might have mused more on why the farmer would have kept silent, but now wasn't exactly the time to be distracted. The crows were practically atop them and five of them had already begun to circle and move towards Magnus. The older looking gentleman had wasted no time and Frankie delighted in being able to see more of the Paint magic up close and personal. It was truly a fascinating element to work with and he wondered if there was any way to make similar applications within his own magic. Alas, Frankie had no talent with Attack Creation so he supposed he would just need to figure out some other way to apply what he was seeing. For now though he had bigger fish to fry. Although five of the crows had opted to attack Magnus and had been similarly destroyed for their folly, that did not count for all of the flying adversaries. Other crows had held back and were now circling around them and even as they did so the howls of wolves grew louder until eventually their sound was accompanied by the actual sighting of six lupine forms.
These wolves too had the strange milky white eyes that could be seen from the crows. Their behavior was clearly hostile and they moved a bit like one would expect of a pack, looking to encircle and flank their prey. However, there was also an unnaturalness to their movements and the pattern of their sizes and fur made it seem like they might have come from different packs, rather than a cohesive unit that had been hunting together for some time. All this strange animal behavior made Frankie wish he could capture one to study, but doubted they would have an opportunity to do so. Still, it made him wonder if there was some sort of Sensory magic at work here? Something that had tricked the senses of the crows and wolves and led them to attack this place and attack people they might have otherwise avoided if they were being allowed to follow their natural instincts. It was a hypothesis he could follow up after they were out of immediate danger.
Seemingly overtaken by something or falling in a trance Frankie could only just take note of whatever passion had overcome Magnus. Perhaps he was coming to his own epiphany? Or perhaps he had unlocked some new page of his grimoire? In any case Frankie watched as the wolves that threatened the pair seemed to inspire Magnus and drive him into creating golem versions of his own through his Paint magic. The wolves moved around the pair in a similar fashion to their flesh counterparts, encircling in such a way as to prevent the very real wolves from gaining any sort of advantage by flanking them. "Yes, once this is all over we will either have to re-question the farmer or see if there might be some way to follow the tracks of the wolves at least to their source. The crows would leave nothing for us to work with, but the wolves must have come somewhere. Even if they were called together at random that too might provide some clue." There was no denying that something metaphysical had to be at work here and the mad mage was very keen to get to the bottom of it and study it thoroughly.
Since everything was poised to move forward on a pin drop Frankie decided he would be the one to pull the trigger. For starters he raised his hands and meshed his fingers speaking aloud, "Slag chainmail!" As he did so chains would flow from his grimoire, made of Carbon and move, his fine Control allowing him to create an additional chain, to protect both he and Magnus. At the interweaving of his fingers the chains would link together forming protective armor that should keep them both safe for at least a little while if any of these animals managed to make it past their golem protectors. No sooner would the chainmail be in place that he would begin to wind his arm three times, flinging his arm forward at the nearest wolves. Upon doing so three ball and chains would launch out, catching the wolves completely by surprise, and causing yelps of distress as they manacled themselves to the wolves. That aggressive action seemed to put everyone in motion and the crows began to descend at the same time the wolves lunged forward. Only, at a telepathic command Frankie's raptors sprung into the air and met the crows full force, their talons and beaks easily rending the much softer flesh of the crows. Their greater strength and size making short work of the living avian. At the same time although all wolves were charging forward, the three that had been struck by his spell found themselves moving considerably slower than the rest of their pack mates. This delay would give Magnus' golems precious moments to dispatch the first group before the others reached them. "I'll take care of our aerial adversaries if you wouldn't mind dealing with the wolves." Frankie said, as he focused on making sure his raptors were given new telepathic commands if the crows tried to do anything funny.

Frankie talks about investigating the matter forward before protecting them both in a defensive spell and restraining the wolves. He sends his golems to attack the crows and asks for Magnus to handle the wolves.

On the third time he will fling his arm forward. A ball and chain will then appear, formed from Carbon produced by his grimoire, and speed out towards the intended target. The weighted ball is roughly 15 inches in diameter while the chain is roughly 15 inches long. On contact with the target the shackle will clasp around whatever part of the target it hits, whether arm, leg, or even chest. Several inches of the chain will wrap around the grimoire, reducing the normal spells cast per turn by 50%. Every round the chain remains on an individual Mana will flare. The flare of Mana is actually a sign of the Mana being forcibly drawn from them through the clasp at -10 Mana per turn. This energy will transfer back to Frankie it will help restore his own reservoir of Mana at +5 Mana per target restrained. The heavy weight of the ball is designed to slow the target and they will find their speed reduced by -5 m/s. Based on Frankie's Control he can create additional shackles when activating the spell per the ammo rules.

Magnus nodded in agreement to Frankie's words, he was excited that the magic knight would take him up on his hunch to speak to the farmer again. Considering Franklin was a man of knowledge, Magnus figured that in some form or fashion the man agreed with him. As Frankie spoke about following the wolves' tracks he'd be met with a bellow of assent from Magnus; "I agree! Although that does mean we'll have to keep the environmental damage to a minimum." Magnus stated, although considering what he saw from his magic and Frankie's own the suggestion was more attuned to himself as opposed to Frankie.
As Magnus spur of inspiration and his new spell seemed to finish taking hold, he couldn't help but notice that the situation they were in while tense, was something that neither he nor Frankie himself seemed too difficult for the other to handle. Frankie himself seemed just as strong and as such Magnus felt that the man was more than capable of taking care of himself. However, he knew that with the two of them this situation was something they could resolve with little to no extensive effort. Magnus watched chains flow from Frankie's grimoire, wrapping themselves around him like armor. The feeling of the magic didn't seem hostile and in fact, caused Magnus to feel sturdy. A smirk could be seen peering from underneath the grays of his thick mustache, the fight with these creatures in his mind had just gotten much easier. With Frankie winding his arms, Magnus in turn would begin to focus his mana on the tip of his paintbrush wand. The paint would take on the color of purple, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give the drawing detail. Magnus would create small thin lines being only 2 millimeters in width, as he swung his paintbrush out in wild sharp strokes the paint would resemble string, wound, and curling into a balled net of thin wires in a 6-meter orb. As he drew one more orb would begin to take hold on appearance.
Magnus noticed that the wolves hit with Frankie's spell were moving slower now, clearly hindered by the weight and power of it. Magnus thought the man's spells were not only interesting but good for helping make the wolves easier targets, however, the wolves didn't back down in their ferocity, instead, it seemed to spur them onto the offensive even more. They charged at the duo bearing their fangs, and only with a command of "Attack" to his golems did they halt their defensive circling of the two mages and instead lunge at the weakened wolves, clearly over twice as fast the wolves. They would maul and claw at three of the white-eyed wolves, biting into their necks with sickening crunches, leaving them coated in the green and blue hues of paint that molded their mouths. As they were busy Magnus would turn his attention to the other charging wolves coming from both sides, two on the left and simply one on the right, that attempted to trap the duo of Mages. Magnus murdered the words: "Wicked Evening", with a flick of his paintbrush wands both spooled balls of painted wire would be propelled outward in the direction of the wolves. Upon making contact with one of the two wolves on the left, the purple paint would burst outward in sharp lines, look spoons of wire exploding, sharp slicing sounds could be heard as the spell sheered through the very air itself, before becoming a slick wet noise as it carved through the wolves, coating them in shades of purple. The other "wicked evening" that had been propelled forward in front of the wolf on the right would be on Magnus detonated early, only a few feet in front of the wolf, but with enough speed that the creature couldn't dodge in time succumbing to the same fate as the other wolves.
The crows that circled above would caw with outrage at the slaughter of the other white-eyed creatures, they flapped their wings in unison before circling, expanding it and contracting its size almost in dance before flying over one another and barreling down in a dive, toward Frankie's own golems, all of the remaining crows had grouped together hoping to overwhelm the spells ferocity with numbers.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Between the new golems that Magnus had created that stood as guardians and the Attack Creation magic he had shown earlier Frankie was not surprised in the slightest when the other man made short work of the wolves. Frankie had been pleased to see that his Restraining magic had done their job, slowing down the other wolves long enough for Magnus' golems to encircle and destroy them before they could reach the duo. For the remaining wolves the mad mage got to witness yet another application of Magnus' Paint magic that he had yet to see. Creating nasty barbed wire explosions out of paint was a particularly ingenious application. Frankie made special note to see if he could adapt his own Carbon magic to do something similar. He wasn't sure if he could inflict damage in the same capacity, but he already did wonders with chains using his magic. Creating wires should be theoretically possible, it was just a matter of whether his grimoire would develop the page for it. Thankfully, neither of the spells had done anything to destroy the area around it, which meant they had not ruined the first real lead they've gotten since yesterday. "Environmental destruction shouldn't be an issue where my magic is concerned. Although I am limited on damage, it does mean I pose less of a threat in collateral." Frankie said matter-of-factly. For now at least his golems were really the only way he could do real harm to others, which at least for now served his purposes just fine.
Speaking of those golems and said purposes the cries of the crows above made it clear that they would wait no longer. Their descent was an obvious attempt to reach the two wizards where they would likely use claw and beak to hurt and possibly maim them both. Frankie decided that he would be having none of that. With a mental command he urged all of his eagles to take off into the air and meet the crows before they could reach either Magnus or Frankie. Black feathers met dark grey Carbon as the group collided with one another. An aerial battle took place with each trying to swoop and catch the others unaware and destroy them. The crows were considerably smaller then the eagles and that gave them a small edge in maneuverability. However, his own golems were simply faster and their greater size meant they did considerably more damage if they made contact. He could watch as a crow might manage to latch onto an eagle, but the contact would last maybe seconds and the more powerful form would only be scratched before they tore apart their flesh counterpart. In the end four crows had fought his eagles and all fell slain.
Only one crow had managed to survive the attack and only because it had simply decided to avoid the whole conflict all together. Rather than fight the eagles it had soared past, using its brethren as sacrificial lambs to ensure it could reach its real target. It nosedived with zeal as it made a straight line right for Frankie. In turn, the mad mage did nothing, simply watched as his attacker came on. The crow clearly thought it would find easy prey and as it did what it could to rake with claws or peck with its beak it would find the chains of Frankie's armor interposing itself to protect Frankie. Defense Creation was something he held some limited talents in and the Durability of his chains simply could not be penetrated by a single weak crow. Ultimately, all of its attack were futile and left not even a scratch on Frankie's defenses. The crow let out one last frustrated and angry cry as one of Frankie's eagles swooped from on high and snatched it from the air in a single claw. With the battle with the other crows ended they were freed up to end the final survivor.
It all took place in just a single moment, but the battle seemed over for now. Frankie strained his ears, but he could not hear any further howls of wolves or cries of crows. If there were any other hostile animals in the area they had either slinked off back to where they came from or were still in hiding. "Well, that was fascinating. Crows might wait to see what carrion a pack of wolves could lead behind, but that's a considerable difference to what they did by openly participating in the conflict. Something must be urging these animals into conflict. Sensory magic perhaps? It could trick their senses into seeing us as something they needed to kill, but to lure them here would likely take something more." Frankie took a moment looking back at the farmer's house to make sure no animals had taken the opportunity to attack the farmer. From the outside it looked completely undisturbed. In fact there were no lights even visible from the windows, perhaps the farmer had seen the conflict and decided to hide as best he could lest he become a target. "I could send my golems to fly and follow the wolf tracks from the sky while we talk to the farmer? If they lead to far they will leave my radius, but at least they could begin to follow the tracks while we interrogate, I mean question, the farmer. Though based on all the commotion and lack of lights he might have retreated to a cellar or something to hide away." Frankie couldn't be certain if the farmer's absence post fight was out of fear for his safety, because he knew something he did not want to share, or if he was just being the selfish man who had rudely greeted them.

Magnus watched as his magic spells landed their mark, having taken out all of the wolves, Fantelo had begun to finally simmer down, his hissing and raised fur became nothing more than a soft purring and prance on Magnus's shoulder as Fantelo eyed the paint covered remains greedily. However, much like Magnus, the painting spirit would watch in awe and with curiosity as Frankie's eagle golems swooped into action. Magnus's still had no idea what the exact element of Frankie's magic was but he did find it sturdy and malleable and considering its effects with the crow's last futile struggles against it, Magnus thought Frankie's magic was extremely reliable. Although he couldn't help but think that Frankie's magic could lend itself to be some extremely potent attack magic potential. However, he knew as well as anyone that sometimes spells didn't come until they were needed, or truly yearned for that they sometimes became available. After all, he was in his 50's and only recently didn't he get spells that were on par with what Frankie was able to output. "Understood. Although I would be remiss if I didn't say that I think one day your magic will have very destructive potential." Magnus said with a smirk, before turning his attention back to the environment around them.
As Frankie spoke more about the crow's unusual behavior, Magnus made sure to take mental notes along the way. From what he knew of the avians Frankie was correct, and considering the whites of the creature's eyes, he was sure it had to be something magical in origin affecting them, but that also didn't explain the differences in the wolves. Magnus thought through all the different magic abilities he had seen thus far and even with sensory magic he had never seen one that brought so many different kinds of creatures together. "That still doesn't explain the wolves, however, even their behavior was strange from their fur down to the way they moved. It's as if something is controlling these creatures, but what made them want to attack us? Are we perhaps getting too close to what's truly going on here?" Magnus questioned aloud.
Magnus nodded to Frankie "I think that would be wise, if we do find any evidence, I think it would be best to keep that information to ourselves for now." Magnus said in regards to Frankie sending his golems to find wolf tracks. However, within that same breathe Magnus would add on a suggestion. "However, instead of talking to the farmer tonight, I think we should head to the inn and rest for a bit. After tonight's surprises, I think it best not to draw any more attention to ourselves than we already might've and I have a feeling that much like today the level of danger will keep increasing. Perhaps it is for the best that the farmer stays in the cellar for the night." He stated as he rubbed his chin. Even though Magnus knew the cellar comment was just an assumption, he felt it best not to go back to the farmer without much evidence as it stood, they had already been yelled at by the man once today, Magnus didn't feel that after being attacked, the man being sketchy, and with all the aforementioned dangers that he'd be able to maintain his level of composure he had earlier in the day when speaking to the man. He was ready to give the farmer a piece of his mind, and he had a gut feeling he'd get the chance to do so eventually, but for now, the night was growing darker, and wandering about it didn't seem wise to him, at least not for now when all their leads much like before ended with the carcasses of the creatures littered about.
"I am, however, open to the alternative if you'd like to do so," Magnus stated, turning to Frankie and expressing a warm smile and calming demeanor. Following his words, Magnus would simply flick his wand, and within moments Fantelo would pounce from his shoulders, devouring the paint covered remains of some of the creatures, whereas the others well, he was sure the other wild animals would come to devour such remains as the night went by and if not then he would simply clean it in the morning.
For now, Magnus had begun walking back toward the inn with Fantelo in hand, presumably alongside Franklin, however, if he were to turn and instead head in the direction of the farmers to speak with him then Magnus would follow suit. After all, Franklin was the more authoritative figure of the two of them considering he was a magic knight. He was of service to the man now in regards to helping him with this mission, so if Frankie wished for him to jump Magnus in turn felt he would only need to know how high.

Summary: Magnus speaks with Frankie some more, Fantelo eats the painted remains of the creatures, the rest of the remains Magnus figures will either be gone by the morning due to them being privy to the laws of nature or simply cleaned by them in the morning. As it gets dark he suggests, leaving telling the farmer the bad news until the next morning. However, if Frankie wishes to then Magnus follows alongside him and relays the information to the farmer as well before heading to the inn.
Rank & Element: Junior | Paint Class & Type: Imbued | Magic Trinket Magic Specializations: Golem Creation Appearance & Lore: Click For Image A Magical Ornate Paint Brush Set that comes with five 4-inch Paint Brushes in total all with different widths and styled bristles. The paintbrushes are ornate in design, with swirls of small patterns and silver in color. They have purple bristles that fade into white at their tips. Nothing is too special about these paintbrushes on their own except they are sturdy and have no need for a palette as they are capable of producing any color of paint on their own with a small infusion of mana. These paintbrushes were a gift to Magnus from his mother when he was younger and as such he cherishes them dearly but also uses them for his magic. However, as they are a magical set, they all share the same durability, thus if his weapon was to break even if it was just one paint brush due to an attack capable of destroying a junior rank weapon all of them would break. Outside of the fact that they can release paint, these weapons are nothing more than blunt objects. As such they cannot be used to stab or pierce without the usage of a spell or its ability. The paint flows to life, taking greater depth and shape from the image, revealing a portrait of a young woman with dark gray to green hair, pink mystical eyes, a gray dress, and glowing pink and yellow flowers blossoming from her. "Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
The battle had made it a little too chaotic to fully process everything Magnus had been saying during the conflict. It was only now after the fact that Frankie could think back on some of what Magnus had spoken about and address any of it. "I concur, I do believe my element could be potent if used to attack others directly. However, I have found no desire for now to do so. If I am busying attacking with my magic then I am too preoccupied to study whatever I may want. For now, I would prefer to leave it to my golems. Let them keep the enemy busy while I avert my attention to things that I would rather focus on. Such as investigating some ruins or analyzing magically enhanced animals to figure out how or what was done to them." The mad mage understood that a lack of Attack Creation magic was limiting his potential in a fight, but he meant what he had said. To participate more would divert his attention from other things. What he failed to mention was one of those things he was looking to pay attention to was Magnus' familiar. Unfortunately, the small being had not participated in the fight, but Frankie had kept one eye on the being throughout the entire affair.
"The wolves behavior is rather strange. It doesn't fit within normal parameters, but as I am not familiar with the local wildlife in this part of the Forsaken Region I didn't want to draw conclusions on them just yet. At least with the crows we had already seen exhibited behavior yesterday to which we could compare to. I'll send my raptors off and follow the tracks, with luck that will lead us somewhere and if not that too will provide evidence to substantiate your suspicions." With a nod and some mental prodding his eagles flew off in the direction where the wolves had likely come from. The mental command had been simple, follow the tracks for as far as they could and to provide simple information back based on their findings. If the tracks were to go outside his range they would simply come back and collect the pair to follow along after the trail. If something else came up that was complicated enough that it couldn't be conveyed through the simplistic means golems could feed information then Frankie would also know to take a closer look.
As they did as they were told Frankie turned back to Magnus and nodded his ahead along with the man's recommendations on how to handle any information they might get and on how to deal with teh farmer. "I have no qualms keep anything we learn to ourselves and leaving the farmer until tomorrow. Based on the behavior he exhibited I don't think it does us any good to bother him tonight and might be best to leave him in the dark. If he truly does know more than he is letting on then our best chance of having him slip up would be to purposely keep how much we might know a secret." Frankie still wasn't a hundred percent certain the farmer was involved in any capacity, but regardless he had been extremely rude to the mad mage and providing him additional information wasn't necessary for completing the job. Keeping the farmer informed might help alleviate any concern the man might have, but that was hardly a responsibility Frankie cared about. As long as the job got done was all that mattered.
They had just reached the topic of alternatives when Frankie's mind was filled with some limited information, courtesy of his golems. Based on their findings it was worth mentioning it to Magnus. "It looks like the mystery deepens. The tracks reach the forest line outside the farm, but curiously they split off in all different directions. This isn't a case of a pack moving into the area, it's more like several wolves just randomly converged together to attack the farm. Either these were lone wolves or wolves from other packs that found themselves 'motivated' by mana most likely to act outside their norm." Frankie couldn't help, but scratch his chin as the information got weirder and weirder. At first he had thought this entire job would be one giant snooze fest. A necessary distraction in order to make additional funds required for his experiments. Now though, it had seriously peeked his interest. "Based on these findings I don't think it would necessarily be worth following the tracks. In all likelihood we would be led on a goose chase to whatever random location the wolves were influenced at. They were likely more a source of convenience in order to deter or kill us rather then something seriously planned. Perhaps we will find something else tomorrow. It has been two nights and two different instances, both would were unsuccessful as far as the culprit is concerned. Might be fair to assume there will continue to be attempts until they succeed, the next may provide valuable data for us." Finding that they had come to a decision, Frankie followed alongside Magnus as they made their way back towards the inn. As excited as he was by the prospect of the deepening mystery his mind had already switched gears on just how he could better study the creature while they were all cooped up in the inn. How lucky was he to have so many things of interest worth studying!

Found the tracks from the wolves meant they weren't all from the same pack. Agreed with Magnus to come back tomorrow and not reveal everything to the farmer for now.
