In this world, Magic is Everything. All people, all races, are granted with the power to perform mystical and magical feats via grimories, mystical tomes granted to each and every child on their 15th birthday. Those blessed by the mana can have their names written down in legend.

In Kiten, there is a man going by the name Vincent Wetherby, though he wishes to simply be called “Wetherby”, who is working on his latest book. Calling it “Wetherby’s Bestiary”, he offers any who are willing to provide him with new information a fitting sum of money, not to mention having their name written into the book for their contributions. For this particular bit of input, you are to travel to the forsaken realm and observe the local wolves in their natural habitat, writing down as many things as you can that might be of any value to the bestiary. Even the smallest, most insignificant of things may end up being invaluable, so write it down.

[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]Taiyo Vermillion, heir to the Vermillion Family and Crimson Lion Magic Knight, was taking a day off from his patrols. He wanted to spend time exploring the Common Region and the place of choice for the day was Kiten. The area was filled with snow and it was very cold. Due to Taiyo’s cosmic magic, he wasn’t as cold as others since he used mana to keep himself warm with solar energy. Once he arrived, he smiled as he saw the snowmen and decorations. Cyra came out of his grimoire and perched herself on her favorite spot, Taiyo’s head. As the Cosmic Spirit, her body generated heat as well. The bird and the magic knight’s bond have been growing slowly. He was just about strong enough to start the process to have a partial spirit dive. All that was left was for him and her to get in sync. That meant that they would have to spend much more time together focusing on training their minds and movements together. That was something Taiyo wanted to do but he knew it was going to take some time. Aside from that, he had all plans to devote that special time but now wasn’t the time. This was the time that Taiyo was going to relax and explore. What do you think of the snow, Cyra? It was a simple question since this would be the first snow that they were traveling together as well as the first snow since she returned as well. “It is quite beautiful and one of the many things that we are also connected to with our Cosmic energy. Who knows, maybe you’ll someday be able to create a frost attack. It would surely be different from the fire and heat that you’re accustomed to.” He thought about it for a moment and then nodded. That would be very interesting.
[break][break]
With a big smile, Taiyo walked him and her into a little small shop and took a seat. The shop had a few wooden tables and chairs. From what it looked like, the shop sold pastries and light treats. With Taiyo being the heir to the Vermillion family, most of the people inside the shop knew who he was. Just what was a noble like him, especially the heir to a main noble family, doing in the Common region, in a little shop. He had access to places of high nobility that commoners and peasants didn’t have access to yet he was here sitting among commoners and peasants. All eyes were on him but not in a bad way. The people were very curious to see what he was going to do next. Taiyo got up from his seat after deciding what pastry he wanted and approached the owner with a smile. Hey there! I would like to have a danish please as well as a cinnamon roll. Surprised by the way he approached, the man nodded. “Yes, Lord Vermillion sir!” He rushed to get the danish and the cinnamon roll for Taiyo which made the young Vermillion teen laugh a bit. No need to treat me any differently to any other customer of yours. I am simply another customer. He accepted the treats from the man and handed the man more yul than what was necessary. Also, keep the changes. You can use it to get extra supplies or even to treat yourself. Thank you for the treat. He took his seat again and started eating the danish first. After finishing the danish, he got started on the cinnamon roll, eating it slowly to savor the taste. That was the thing that Taiyo loved about pastry shops. No matter if the pastries were made by peasants, commoners or nobles, they were always sweet and satisfying. The ambiance was different in the different places but the treats were what made or break the experience.
[break][break]
With everyone looking at Taiyo, there were many whispers. One lady asked her friend about what they thought of such a person. To her, I was much different from what they imagined. They figured as a noble he wouldn’t have the time of day to visit small businesses in the Common Region or even step foot here. It just wasn’t normal for someone with his status to happily walk in a shop owned by a commoner and conduct business. That showed how some people just had thoughts about stuff but that didn’t mean that their perception was always what it was. Another person was smiling while whispering about how cool it would be to be a magic knight. To some, that was a distant dream and to others that was something they hoped they could become. No matter, they all were grateful to the magic knights for being there to keep them safe. They slept better at night knowing the Magic Knights were always there for them. Whether they were vocal about it or not, they were glad for them.
[break][break]
Taiyo sat quietly with his eyes closed. He was trying to figure out where he was going to go when he left the shop. The outdoors were cold and if he didn’t have to be out in the freezing winds yet then he would stay put. After all, he was surrounded by people that were a part of the kingdom he swore to protect. It was perfect. Even if they were whispering about him and his status, he didn’t care. His duty was to them. He was more than a noble. He was a magic Knight of The Crimson Lion Kings squad. Even if he wasn’t a magic knight, he would still feel the same way about his service to them. He was capable and stronger than they were in magic. To him, the strong had a duty to protect the weak. That was who Taiyo Vermillion truly was. The guy who wanted to be there to protect those who wouldn’t be able to protect themselves. Whether they were rich or poor, noble or commoner, they were all important to him.

With no surprise. Being the fact that it is the middle of winter means there's snow and cold temperatures. The only thing that Riku can do to stay warm is to spend time indoors. Outdoors though she stands out, with her maroon hair it makes her stand out with the white snow on the ground. But after travelling from her home town to Kiten to find work was something she was wanting to do as she tries to figure out what she's wanting to do with herself after handling a powerful grimoire that she barely knows how to use.
Following a boy around the same age as her into the town she notice that everyone in the town was giving him a hard stare. And the reason why she knew that it was him and not her was that she was still a good 15 meters from him. With no doubt thought she would decide to follow him to see where he would end up. But with an idea of who the mysterious man was, she would enter the same shop as him sitting at a table behind him.
It wasn't a shock that everyone inside the shop was talking about him as well but what made it clear was when he got up to order. As always Riku wasn't hungry but was tired of the cold so hearing the shop owner mention Lord Vermillion she would pause. Although she doesn't know who this "Lord Vermillion" is she has definitely heard of the name. Watching him come back to his seat and enjoy his pastries, she would overhear most of the people here as she would figure out that he's from a noble family. It was a shock to see them in a place like this but most certainly out here in the Commoner Section of the Kingdom.
With no thought in the world though she would get up and walk over to the young Lord. "H..Hello. I..I'm Riku...." she paused as she fumble for words. "I hear that you're a nobleman. And I would like to accompany you if you would allow me."
She wasn't sure where she was going but in her head, she thought this would be the perfect chance for her to figure out how to be a mage. Someone back home told her to always follow a path to success and staying home with the power she held would be a waste. Finding a noble in the same town as she seem like faith for her to get started on her new journey but the only thing is while she was standing there in front of the nobleman everyone started to question her decisions. It was no doubt embarrassing for her to stand in front of the young Lord and expect him to just accept her in just like that.
[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]While Taiyo sat in the shop, there seemed to be someone else there. She wasn’t noticed by him but that would be because everyone else's eyes and attention on him was distracting. Even so, Taiyo sat, enjoying his treats as the people spoke. What he didn’t notice was this mysterious girl was watching him. Why was she watching him exactly? He had no clue. She wouldn’t stay hidden forever however. She got up and walked up to him, introducing himself and then speaking to him like she doesn’t know of him at all. As she did such, the people there that knew who he was gasped. One of the common people there got up and folded his arms. “How dare you speak to Lord Vermillion with such insolence? He’s not just any noble! He’s the heir to the Vermillion family. They are a main noble family and being rude to them would mean trouble. You should apologize at once!”
[break][break]
Taiyo raised his hand and the room got silent. No need to be so worried. I’m just another guy like everyone else. No need to apologize. My name is Taiyo Vermillion and it’s nice to meet you, Riku. I’d be happy to accompany you for the day. You’d also find it quite warm to stick close to me due to my type of magic. He grinned. Also, word of advice, don’t go up to nobles like that. They would think you’re a bit rude. This goes Triple for the Silva family. They don’t take kindly to insolence. Now then, I was just about to be on my way so if you want to accompany me, feel free to tag along.
[break][break]
Just as Taiyo was about to leave, a man entered the shop. In his hand, he held a book. The book looked like a journal of some sort. With a smile, the man walked in and his eyes landed on Taiyo. “Lord Vermillion, can I interest you in a mission? It won’t be dangerous or too complicated. I just need some assistance getting some information for my research due to the cold weather.” He took a seat and opened the book to show the noble the incomplete pages of the book. “My name is Vincent Weatherby and the book I’m writing is called Weatherby’s Bestiary. My goal is to research a few animals and write a feature on them. I would compensate you greatly for this as well as write your name in the book as a means of crediting people who contributed.” With a nod, Taiyo sat down and listened to Vincent speak. Okay, I’m all ears. The man took a breath before speaking again. “Somewhere in the Forsaken Realm, there is a species of wolves that I wanted to observe. Those wolves are going to be one of the species I write about in the book but I can’t do that at the moment. Not only is this not the best weather for a simple writer like me but the wolves could get dangerous and I am not equipped to protect myself. I would still like to have information about these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. I would also like to put it forward that I am a pacifist and I would prefer these animals remain unharmed. If you must defend yourself, do so but please don’t kill them.” The noble Vermillion boy stood up and smiled. You got it. I’ll help out.
[break][break]
Walking to the door, Taiyo turned and smiled. Are you coming, Rika? You said you wanted to accompany me. I’ll keep you safe. If she chose to follow, he walked outside and smiled at her. We will be traveling by broom. Grabbing his broom, he hopped onto the broom and started flying towards the Forsaken Realm.

It was quite obvious that Rika wasn't sure about the whole noble situation. She's never met one in person and wasn't aware of how to approach them. Instead, she just saw another typical boy that so happen to be born in a powerful family. While hearing him out on to approach a noble she would stay quiet. Holding her tongue until she got to a more quiet area with less tension. The last thing she needs is people assuming she doesn't care about a noble and his title.
After all said and done though the young Lord was about to head out before a man stopped and ask for his help. The mission seems simple enough although she wasn't really prepared to be out in the cold for too long she decided though it was a perfect opportunity to tag along.
Following Taiyo though was even more embarrassing for her as he would summon his broom. The one thing she manages to accomplish only once in her most recent attempts. But luckily enough she manages to do so. Following the young Lord to the place, he was requested to go.
"By the way, I just wanted to say I'm sorry about earlier. To be honest I don't see you being any different than anyone else. You just so happen to be born into a very powerful family of our wonderful Kingdom. As well as you're the first noblemen I've ever met so I wasn't sure how to approach you besides the way I did."
Like he said though she didn't have to apologize in her head she felt like it was a must. But hopefully, while she's accompanying him, he could teach her some proper dedication while approaching other noble families.
"By the way... What are we supposed to be doing with this mission you decided to accept anyway?" She was listening along but researching wild animals doesn't really sound like a mission that would be too difficult as well as worthy enough for a noble to take on. But there again he did say that he's wanting to be like the rest of the people and not spotted as a higher up. Maybe it's just Rika's way of thinking that it doesn't matter what family you were born with, we're all still normal people trying to live our everyday lives. Just some have less to worry about than others.
[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]While Taiyo was in the little shop in the common region, he ate his pastries calmly. He was being watched by everyone. It wasn’t quite common for nobles to be in common region shops let alone buying the merchandise. He sat peacefully while there was someone watching him. Her name was Riku and she walked up to Taiyo, introducing her in the most casual way. This caused an uproar in the establishment by the other commoners. Even so, Taiyo didn’t care about the way she introduced herself. Though it may seem rude to address nobles the way she did, Taiyo wasn’t stuck up. To him, she didn’t do anything bad against him or his family. Heck, she didn’t even know who he was. That was quite fine since not everyone will know who he was. While Taiyo calmed the crowds and spoke to this girl, she wanted to accompany him for the day, which he agreed to. As he was about to leave with Riku, a man gave him a task and a mission to explore and research wolves. Taiyo accepted and left with Riku to explore the forsaken realm.
[break][break]
As they traveled across the skies, Riku apologized for the way she conducted herself earlier. Taiyo was confused as to why she was apologizing but to him it made no difference since he did not feel disrespected. Like I said earlier, no need to apologize. Also, the way you speak to me is fine but please don’t speak to other nobles that way. Some aren’t very forgiving. As they continued flying, she asked about what they were supposed to be doing on the mission. We are going to be observing the animals in their natural habitat. Don’t spook them and we should escape without getting attacked. They continued flying with Taiyo using his mana to keep them both warm.
[break][break]
On arrival, Taiyo landed a little away from the wolves and looked at them. They were playing with each other and rolling around in the snow. And now we watch all 12 of them play and interact with each other.

[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]Having observed the little ones play, Taiyo smiled and kept making his notes. He knew how important it was to respect creatures in their natural habitats. He kept out of their way and let them play amongst themselves. After all, he didn’t want to trouble them or alert their parents into attacking. With the snow so strong around them, he made sure to keep enough distance that he could see the way they interacted with each other as well as their environment. ”This is the way these little ones love it. Community among their own as well as close friendships. Right now, all they will do is eat, play, sleep and protect each other. As they get older, they may become more protective or aggressive and less playful. It’s the natural course of their lives. I think I’ve seen enough, let’s return and give the information up, Riku.”
[break][break]
Having finished the investigation of the wolves, Taiyo hopped on his broom and flew back to Kiten to meet with Mr. Wetherby. When he landed, he walked in and handed up all the research to the man who took it and smiled. “Ah yes! Thank you very much, Lord Vermillion. Your name will be placed in the book as a big contributor to the research.” With a nod, Taiyo smiled but he too had a few words for Mr. Wetherby. ”I am honored by that, however, I wasn’t alone. Make sure that Riku’s name is also listed there. She was there on the mission too so it would be right for her to be recognized.
[break][break]
After Wetherby agreed, Taiyo departed for his home, The Vermillion Estate. It was quite the adventure and he would be sure to tell Cyra of it. She did like his traveling stories. This one would be no different.
