Yet another beautiful day had come to pass within the Clover Kingdom and our resident Deacon has yet to return to his posting within Nairn. It wasn't as if he hadn't wished to return to his post but more so that he had been more useful while outside of the town. Ever since he had temporary stepped away from his posting within Nairn, the young Wilhelm had been meandering about the Clover Kingdom and solving just about everyone's problems in the name of the Church. That is what it had begun to feel like anyways. Not that he had really minded all that much. After all, knowing that he was doing good in the name of the Church of Clover and the Spirits had left him with such joy in his heart that it was almost beginning to become difficult to contain.
Unsurprisingly, for a good portion of his time away from Nairn, Thaddeus had been spending quite a bit of time within the Forsaken Region. The Deacon had hoped that by helping those within the Forsaken Region, that he could spread the influence that the Church had been able to offer the people. If the influence of the Church of Clover could continue to grow, it would be much easier for them to provide assistance to all those that had been struggling. From what Thaddeus had heard tale of, those within the Forsaken Region had struggled more than most... That is why he had gone out of his way to try and help as many people out here as he could. He would do so by providing protection, food, clothes, and whatever other necessities that he could offer. It was that sense of security that had tended to win people over and if that was what he was going to need to offer to ensure that the good people of the Clover Kingdom had thrived, than that was what he was going to do.
Admittedly, there had been some that had believed him to be a fake of sorts. Many couldn't believe that a member of the Upper Nobility had genuinely wished to help the people. The influence that the Wilhelm family held over the trade of the kingdom had led to many to suspect the Deacon of having only joined the Church for the additional influence that it would provide. This had not been the case though. Thaddeus had truly loved and wished to support all of those that had been struggling within the Clover Kingdom. If it were up to him, he would ensure that the people never had to worry again. That was a rather difficult manner to think of things in though. As such, our Deacon had aspired to rise in the ranks of the Church so that he could find other ways to help.

Having only recently cleared some misgivings of the Church up within a small settlement within the Forsaken Region, Thaddeus had finally begun to make his way back to the town of Nairn. He had been gone for far too long and was worried that if he hadn't made it back relatively soon, that he might end up worrying those within the Church. He refused to allow them to believe anything as absurd of him possibly deserting the church and knew that the only way to ensure that the people hadn't worried was to make a reappearance.
At the moment, Thaddeus had been heading back home on one of the many main roads that had been used for the trace amounts of trade that had occurred within the Forsaken Region. The reason that he had chosen to take this road was due to the fact that rumors of bandits roaming in packs had reached the young Deacons ears. While Thaddeus had been sure of the fact that he could quite possibly take on a decent portion of the bandits, thanks to his sturdy carbon golems, he still hadn't wished to take the unnecessary risk at the moment. If anything dire were to happen to him than he was sure that his cousins or even Eliza would have been quite upset with him. Having been walking along the road on his own of course, it wouldn't have been too surprising if a group of rogues or bandits had chosen to attack him. All that he could hope for at the moment is that no one attempts to start anything on his way back.

Xue yawned as he walked along the trail back into the forsaken region, he had been back in the markets of Hapshass to gain more ingredients both normal and fatal and now that he had finished his business he was on his way back home, as per usual he had his grimoire on him but it was strapped under his tunic near his lower back to the left side so it wasnt in sight and was hard to reach, normally the silver haired man would carry a set of karambits on him as a precaution but since the roads had been fairly clear of issues lately he didnt think it was needed, glancing up at the sky the rogue saw that it was just past noon the roads still seemed rather empty which was a good sign.”now hopefully there arnt any stray bandits near home but given that it can be vicious out here I should stay ready just in case” he muttered to himself
as he finished his musings Xue spotted a man approaching and heading the opposite way then him, he seemed to be dressed in robes fitting of the church and also of a man with decent standing within said organazation, Xue had no issues with religion nor the church of clover the only time he really had any gripe with then was when some pushy zealot wanted to force their views on him, there had been quite a few of his targets that had been like that but as to their fate it was best left unspoken. As he got closer Xues eyes caught sight of two shadows moving a bit a ways away from the man and they didnt seem friendly and while it might be a pain in the neck for him he didnt think it would look good if he let the clergyman become the target of some bandits and given how they were acting it had the rogue suspicious
as the man got closer Xue glanced at him his silver eyes still holding a bored look in them as he nodded his head to him “Father” he said plainly showing that he understood his postion and had a small amount of respect for it as he approached,however once he got close enough he gently held out his hand to stop the man but not in a way that seemed threatening.”you should know father you have two people tailing you and I sense they dont have the best intentions” he explained in a hushed voice as his eyes subtly shifted from one of the hidden bandits to the other.”i would say give it perhaps a few moments and they might pounce and it would be remiss of me to allow a member of the church to be attacked on the road” he said while his expression was still one of apathy his tone showed that he wasnt being decietful or plotting at all.

As the young Deacon had been continuing his trek down the beaten road, he would eventually come to lay his eyes upon a singular individual that had been heading his way. The man had stood at about six foot, well within the height range of Thaddeus' cousins, and had both silver eyes and hair. As the man had drawn closer to Thaddeus, the Deacon would take note of the disinterest in the mans eyes. There was something within that disinterest that had drawn Thaddeus to pay any mind to him. It wasn't the look that many bandits along the road would bring but there had been something behind that gaze.. One that the Deacon couldn't understand no matter how long he had dwelt on it.
Once the silver haired individual had stopped in front of him and placed his hand out to prevent him from going any further, Thaddeus would move to place his thumb over his ring finger. He had been prepared to summon forth his creations if need be but was hoping that things weren't going to come down to that. Thankfully they hadn't as the silver haired man would go on to inform Thaddeus of the fact that he was being followed. From what he could tell, it didn't quite seem as though the newcomer had been here to try and scare him off. The tone of voice that he held had been enough to come off as somewhat genuine, if nothing else.
Rather than respond immediately to the things that this individual had been telling him, Thaddeus would simply nod to the silver haired man. Up to this point, the Deacon hadn't taken note of the fact that anyone had been following him.. If only he had worked towards increasing the sensory capabilities of his magic. It would likely be best for his to purchase some kind of item that would assist him with such a thing in the future. That wasn't all that important at the moment though. No, he was going to need to focus on the two individuals that had supposedly been tailing him this entire time.
"I appreciate your assistance in this matter, friend. I believe that I can take it from here." Even now, Thaddeus hadn't been able to really pinpoint the location of the individuals that had been trailing after him. It was for that reason that Thaddeus would opt to channel mana into his ring of everlasting summons. Upon taking such an act, the outer layer of the ring would crack open and allows for its magic to take effect. Suddenly, the ground just beside Thaddeus and this silver haired individual would begin to twist and shift into three four-meter tall humanoid carbon golems! This action had been both a calculated and reckless plan of action and Thaddeus had known it well. Especially considering the events that would follow his casting of the spell.
Several meters back, the sound of shuffling could be heard from within the nearby bushes. It was clear that these individuals had been momentarily caught off guard by the fact that three carbon golems had just burst into creation from seemingly nowhere. It likely didn't help allay their fears that these creatures had been summoned forth near the lowly Deacon that they had been chasing. For the moment, Thaddeus wouldn't take any drastic actions against these individuals.. but at least they would know, in his mind anyways, that he had been a possible threat that they may want to think twice about taking on. "I'm really hoping that they will simply depart but.. if they choose to attack, I'm sure that the three of us can handle them."

Name of Spell: Oread Spell Element: Carbon Matter Spell Rank: Junior Mana Cost: 10 | 5 Type of Golem: Guardian Applicable Perks: Reinforced Golems Description: Calling upon the powers dwelling within his grimoire, Thaddeus raises his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion and shouts the name of this spell. Upon doing so, the carbon matter from just ahead of him shifts and shapes itself into a 4 meter tall carbon golem that makes use of its massive size and overbearing weight to slam parts of its body into whatever Thaddeus commands them to. While this golem may be the largest of his golems, it also happens to be the slowest.. Not that that will prevent said golem from protecting its master! Xue acted normal but when he saw the member of the church fiddle with his ring he started to wonder if perhaps he had acted in a way that was suspicious and not helpful, however it seemed that after he had warned the man about the two bandits tailing him he calmed and thanked him before saying that he could take it from there to which the silver haired rogue gave a very subtle shake of his head.”no disrespect father but most likely since we have stopped to talk now im a target too and most likely they are going to strike sooner rather then later if their movement is anything to go by” he commented in a hushed tone. Sure enough as he finished speaking one of the bandits came from the right while the other rushed at Thaddeus from the left, Xue caught the sound of their approach and he quickly leaned back to avoid a stab from a dagger before he would reach out and twist the mans hand making him drop the knife.
The silver haired man quickly twisted the mans arm behind his back in such a way that even slight pressure was excruciating and he quickly kicked the mans feet out so he went to his knees. As the mans grimoire glowed a bit Xue suddenly twisted his arm again making him cry out.”stay still or this gets worse it would only take a bit more pressure to break your arm” he threatened though his tone was still rather bored as if the prospect of a broken arm didnt even phase him which made the bandit even more nervous.”Father I have one taken care of need any help with the other one” he asked looked over at Thaddeus to see if everything as ok on his end, at this point the darkness mage didnt intend to cause anymore harm but if the bandit he held tried to use his grimoire he wouldnt hesitate to cause pain to keep from either himself or the church member from getting harmed

Although he had seen this coming, one of the bandits would begin to rush from on out of the bush that they had been laying lay in. A short yet sharp dirk had been held within the bandits hand and it would seem as though he was planning on attempting to run the Spring Deacon through. Contrary to popular belief though, the members of the Church of Clover weren't meek or mild. If nothing else, Thaddeus had been prepared for this. It is for that reason that Thaddeus would stomp his right foot on the ground.
Upon stomping his right foot on the ground, the Spring Deacon's grimoire would begin to flip through several pages before ultimately landing on a particular spell. The magic would than seemingly shoot from out of the grimoire and into the ground surrounding the bandit. Once the magic had taken hold of the carbon matter that had been dwelling within the ground below, a closed off carbon dome that stands at about ten cubic meters both high and wide would burst forth from the ground and swallow the armed bandit within its confines. It wouldn't have been too difficult for one to escape such a thing normally, given that this spell was intended for the purpose of defending and not trapping, but Thaddeus had a bit of a trick up his sleeve. If he so wished, the miniature carbon dome had been fully capable of patching itself together with the carbon matter that had dwelt further within the ground. With the bandit trying to break his way out of the carbon dome, Thaddeus had considered utilizing this particular effect. Instead of worrying himself too much about it though, he would instead mentally instruct two of his carbon golems to stand on opposite ends of the carbon dome with their hands raised high whilst the third had been ordered to approach Xue and the bandit that they had been holding firmly in their grasp. A bit of an intimidation factor never really hurt, right? "As I had said, I can handle this. At least on my end anyways. I appreciate your assistance nonetheless."
Figuring that this was a good as time as any, Thaddeus would begin to close the distance between himself and this newcomer. If he had been allowed to close the distance fully, Thaddeus would perform a short bow for the man whilst speaking in the most appropriate manner that he could. "My name is Thaddeus Wilhelm and I am but a simple Deacon of the Church of Gnome. Might I inquire into the name of my potential savior?"

Upon doing so, a closed off carbon dome that stands at about ten cubic meters both high and wide bursts forth from the very earth itself and wraps itself around the intended targets that are within its 10 meter area of effect range. The surrounding area around the dome shall be mostly left intact as only about two hundred pounds worth of carbon matter is used as the main ingredient behind the spell. The amount of damage required to fully destroy said dome(s) is Junior x2. If the dome has taken damage but is still standing at the end of the post, it will naturally repair itself to full durability. This effect can only be used on a single spell a post and can be used three times per casting of the spell.

Xue blinked as he saw the golems approaching and he would let the man go so that way the golem you restrain him as he would dust his hands off as if dealing with a bandit was no different then dealing with some trash.”it seems so still I was taught not to let a man of the cloth go unaided besides even for the forsaken region for bandits to get this bold is a bit unusual part of me wonders of perhaps there are more or were these two just that foolish or desperate” he mused at the end with a simple shrug showing that it honestly mattered not to the silver haired mage, as the church member approached Xue blinked but his stance remained relaxed since he didnt sense any malicious intent from the man though he was still ready incase something was to happen. Thankfully it didnt come to that as the man bowed and introduced himself as Thaddeus of the church of clover specifically the branch of Gnome.
“a pleasure Thaddeus Im Xingke Liu im from a village near Nairn but my busniess tends to bring me out here to the forsaken region often, but if I can ask a question in return what brings a humble Deacon out here to such a dangerous part of clover?” he asked, it wasnt an unreasonable question given the circumstances since while some priests did travel a good number of them tended to stay in the same area but given the man before him was a deacon it might be easier for him to move around then then say a bishop.while the name he had given the man was a complete lie it would be a hard task to prove it since Xue spoke it with such confidence and surety that it was as easy as breathing for him to lie like that and while he was being friendly that didnt mean that he was willing to trust anyone outside the family that easily if at all.”given that you were just ambushed would you care for some company back to the next settlement Thaddeus?” he asked politely and trying to be courteous

Thaddeus couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow and allow for the corners of his lips to turn upward as the man would speak on how he had resided within a village just outside of Nairn. The fact that the two had been so close to one another had been rather interesting, It is a wonder that they had yet to encounter one another up unto this point. "Oh? Is that so? Well mister Xingke, it is most assuredly a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I must admit that it surprises me that we haven't met one another before this point. Although I am often sent outside of the town to handle matters of the church, I actually reside within the town of Nairn myself. That is where I have been stationed for the portion of my stay while I am a Deacon. Eventually I shall obtain the rank of a Priest and I shall run the church within Nairn, as well as its orphanage."
Although he hadn't really known this Xingke all that well, he was sure that he could at least trust the man to watch his back for the time being. He had chosen to inform him of an impending attack after all. "I don't really see any reason as to why we shouldn't head back together. If anything, I can only see positives in it." It is at this point that the Spring Deacon would drop the carbon dome of his and would allow for his golems to beat down on the bandit until the man had been knocked unconscious. Naturally he would inform them not to be too rough with the bandit though. There was no reason to go beyond that point with these people. Once this much had been done, the golems would pick up each of the bandits and would approach the Spring Deacon and his companion. "Shall we head out now then? We can discuss my reason for being out here along the way." If Xingke were to agree than the Spring Deacon and his golems would begin to head off towards the nearest settlement."

Xue listened intently as Thaddeus would explain that it was rather surprising that they hadnt encountered each other given the little ruse the rogue has said put him rather close to the church members home as it would seem, he would also explain that he was currently a deacon and would hopefully become a priest before running the orphanage and the church there as well, to the dark mage it was a noble thing to do he justed hoped that that the man didnt lose his fighting spirit that he had seen upon their meeting since even if such religions frowned upon fighting one always needed a good defense.”please just Xingke will do theres no need for formalitys, as far as not encountering each other my family while close to Nairn is rather self sufficent so we tend to not go into town to much unless its absolutely needed” he explained since it did make sense that some family enjoyed their privacy and didnt like dealing with others.
“its good that you have such a goal to strive for im sure the children at the orphanage will be glad you have you looking out for them”he said with a slight smile since it was truly something that would be good for the town,while the dark mage didnt show much intrest in it thru his tone he still thought it was a decent and good thing to strive for, when Thaddeus agreed to have him join Xue nodded.”i agree plus given the fact that these two decided to go after you it would help to have an extra pair of eyes since I can only suspect that these two might just be the tip of the iceburg” he said as he glanced at the two bandits being held as they started towards the nearest settlement.”so I can only venture a guess that your reasons for being out here involve the betterment of the forsaken region and the wellfare of its people” Xue guessed since it was the only thing that really came to mind given the man was a member of the clergy and they were not known much for fighting but it was always a possiblity. Still Xue didnt mind having a conversation since it was only the two of them and while he was a rogue he didnt seek to pick fights or cause trouble without a good reason and so far Thaddeus seemed like a good possible source of information.

The Spring Deacon would begin to nod several times as he had pondered over just what had brought him all the way out here. It was true that this was his goal for the most part but not everything always had one reason. There were several factors that would tie into why Thaddeus had found himself out in these particular lands. Some of them did have to do with the Church while other's didn't necessarily have to. "I suppose that you could certainly say that that is one of my motivating factors for being out here. Overall though? I just want to make sure that the common folk are okay. With everything that has been going on over the years, what with the war with the Diamond Kingdom and now all of this business with the Daemons and the like, it is easy for one to find themselves lacking a will to continue on. I strive to ensure that those that lose hope are minimal in number. I understand that it is unrealistic to believe that I can help save everyone but that is why I am simply doing the best that I can for those that I am able."
Continuing along his trek on the way back towards the town, Thaddeus would allow for a small sigh to escape his lips. His fingers had begun to brush gently along the band of his ring as he had continued on and his mind had begun to wander. There were too many major threats to the Clover Kingdom as of late. If he didn't manage to find a way to grow in strength rather rapidly than it was likely that he wasn't going to be of any use to the people of the Clover Kingdom. Granted, it wasn't as though he was a Magic Knight or anything of the sorts, but that didn't mean that he should just sit by and do nothing. As a shield of the Church of Clover, it was his goal to protect anyone and everyone with all of his might. This was exactly what he had intended to do.
"I can assuredly say that I am not up to par with many of the magic knights that run around the kingdom and do their best for the people. Even with that being the case though, I can't just give up on these people. It is my duty as a member of the Church of Clover to keep our people safe. Even if it means placing my life on the line for them, I am going to do all that I can to ensure that my goal comes to fruition. I don't need to be some big fancy hero.. I just want these people to live regular lives. Does that make sense?"

As they walked Xue listened carefully to what the member of the church had to say, he brought up many good points about how this region had been plagued by many issues lately the most recent being the diamond war and now the daemons causing problems and it seemed that Thaddeus just wanted to try and save as many as he could and provide what aid he could. The rogue had to admit it was a noble goal and while he himself could care less about the rest of the world outside of his family he also knew that it didn't do them any good to turn a blind eye all the time.”im sure that having people check in on them is a comfort from what I heard the attacks from the daemons has done quite a number to people normal and magic knight alike. Though I have heard that a good number of the knights meant to be fighting them are showing more and more why they were chosen so there is hope ahead of us I believe” he said referring to the royal knights in general since he didn't know specific details just what one can gather by observing and overhearing.
Which was one of the things that made Xue such a threat he dressed like a commoner and oftentimes could be more of a wallflower then a social person so he tended to listen and remember more then most,it was scary what some people would say when they didnt think people were truly paying attention.but for now Xue would be patient and friendly and see what information this might bring him.” I heard Kikka was one of the worst places hit and that it will be effected for years to come no doubt I can only imagine what the townsfolk went thru encased in the dark for months” he mentioned though he wasnt phased internally about the prospect of such a thing given his magics nature was darkness itself thus the aspect of such a thing was more comforting to him then most would suspect. The deacon then went on to explain that he wasnt that strong compared to many of the knights of the kingdom but at the same time he wouldnt abandon the people of the forsaken region to their fate so he would do what he needed to in order to help them
“everyone grows at different rates and has different talents Thaddeus and how they are nutured will determine how strong they become if you keep working towards getting stronger its bound to pay off and I understand where your coming from, most people dont want to ever approach fighting and just want to live and enjoy their lives people like you and the magic knights want the same thing even if like you said your not aiming to be a big shot hero you just want to help and its something that is to be admired” he explained after the church member had finished speaking though while he admitted the mans desire was a noble one Xue didn't share the sentiment. The Dark mage was a rogue and while he stayed under the radar he knew skills that if the deacon knew would most likely bring him unwanted attention or a fight both of which he had no desire to deal with so he hoped he wouldn't end up having to make someone disappear.

A few curt nods would be offered to the man as Thaddeus had considered the events that had transpired in Kikka. Having found themselves lost to the darkness for several months on end... It must have been one hell of an experience. With the ways that utter darkness tends to impact ones mental health, not to mention their physical health, it was entirely likely that a huge chunk of those individuals had managed to find themselves rather negatively impacted by the events. The very thought of such a thing occurring in Nairn had worried the Spring Deacon. For so many reasons that he honesty couldn't place them all. "Yeah.. It honestly sounds like hell. While I am sure that I could overcome such a thing, with the grace of Gnome, I am not sure if I would ever wish to find myself in such a precarious situation."
Allowing his gaze to turn off towards the surrounding area for a moment, a soft sigh would escape the Spring Deacon's lips. "There is honestly no telling what kinds of events might unfold in the future. With how tenacious this daemons and their kin seem to be, it is entirely likely that we will find ourselves being cast into rather similar situations once again. And honestly? While that thought worries me, I feel as though it also serves to fill my resolve. I downright refuse to allow such a thing to occur within Nairn. Even if it costs me my life, I will do everything within my power to strike down any threat that might bring harm to my home. Those daemons better watch out.. because once I manage to stir up enough power, I'm assuredly coming for them."
For all but a brief moment, a severe glare would be sent forth from the Spring Deacon's visage. It wasn't exactly cast at anyone or anything in particular, at least not in the present moment, but the feeling behind the look was there nonetheless. His thoughts had often turned towards the future at some point or another. There were many aspirations that the Spring Deacon had held and yet most of them had been for the sake of others. He wasn't sure how but someday, somehow, Thaddeus had planned to ensure that this daemonic threat would cease to be. The Church was mighty in its capacity to protect and with Thaddeus behind it? Well he was hoping that it was all the stronger for it. While none of this had been for fame or glory or perhaps even power, there were many things that were going to need to be accomplished if he ever wishes to ensure that he can protect those that he loves. "I'm sure that it'll all work itself out one way or another. Even if I can't accomplish the things that I am setting out for, someone will eventually take up the mantle. We just have to hold out for hope and see how it all goes."

Xue nodded back at Thaddeus's words since he was sure no one would ever willingly subject themselves to the shadows for that long especially demonic ones, “I agree and from what I heard in a few of the other towns that event left an impact on the knights there and yet many of them are still going to be fighting the same fight in the future if the rumors are to be believed, they must have a good deal of resolve and mental strength” he commented knowing that for any of the knights to have volunteered to enter kikka it would have been no place for the faint hearted and yet like he said many had trauma or some nasty impact from the event that to this day had yet to heal but in the rogues mind those dangers came with the territory and any knight would have entered in knowing those risks. As Thaddeus mentioned that while there was no telling what events might unfold he would do what he could and what was within his power to strike down any daemons he came across to protect his home.
“a very noble goal indeed hopefully the fiends wont have any desire to come around this area but then again who is to say what they are even thinking and while you may feel the desire to go after them father I would advise treading cautiously otherwise you may step right into their plans after all daemons dont play fair from what I can gather” Xue explained while walking alongside the deacon, while he was no expert in daemons he knew that many of them were devious and more akin to tricksters then straight up brawlers but that didnt mean there wasnt exceptions to the rules.” the most we can do is have faith that the royal knights will prevail since if they dont it means kikka will have been a prelude to what happens next” he said grimly his eyes scanning ahead as they walked and it was only a few seconds but Xue caught sight of some movement out of the corner of his eye.”fair warning we might have company approaching” he said in a low tone so only the church member would hear him.

While it was true that Thaddeus had wanted to hope that the Royal Knights could handle everything, it was also true that he didn't believe that any one person could take on the world. With how limited the amount of Royal Knights had been, it was quite likely that the world was going to be forced to have others assist them in their battles. To combat a foe as strong as the Demons and Daemons, it would take the combined forces of the Royal Knights, the Magic Knights, the members of the Church of Clover and the everyday civilians to ward off such an evil. If this past war had taught him nothing else... It was that everyone was going to be needed to put an end to such a threat.
Once the man had gone on to tell him that there were others coming upon them, Thaddeus would idly grab ahold of his holy symbol. Combat was the likeliest thing to occur in this moment but one could only hope that it wouldn't really come to such. If it had.. Well Thaddeus was going to end up finding himself in a situation in which he would have to call forth a few friends of his own. "I suppose that we should keep an eye open just incase.. but it's possible that this is only a few civilians passing on by, much like us."
