Adrenna let out a yawn feeling the cart come to a stop at the outskirts of the thriving town of Aries Garse. [break][break] "Alright we will stop here for the horses to rest." Spoke the cartman as Saeka yawned stretching as she got down from the cart shaking her body awake before looking over to the owner of the cart "It is alright, You do not have to wait on all of us if you wish not to. "She spoke sweetly as the others of their group got off as well. She turned towards the group with a smile waving "Alright everyone! it was fun traveling with you all. I won't be back here for at least a few hours as I have business here. I won't be hurt if you all wish to head your own ways, if not I will see you back here ya?" She spoke with glee to the others in their small group. [break][break] Saeka smiled waving goodbye to them as she turned to David "Are you going to go your own way or still accompany me towards the capital?" She asked him with a smile beckoning him to follow. She had plans in the city to restock on some needed supplies on her journey and this was one of the many places she had wanted to travel to. She had read from books and hearing from her companions, this city had quiet the lively night life. She was curious to see what those who call this town home had up their sleeves. Maybe she would find a new interest to sink her innocent teeth into. [break][break] Her baby pink hair was up in it's usual shoulder blade length side ponytail with a black bow. She had two thick strands of her hair down infront of her ears and her bangs pushed to the side allowing her light pink eyes to glow in the dying light of the setting sun. She smiled turning fully to David lacing her fingers behind her back before tucking her cloak into the knapsack, adjusting some of the hidden contents within it before she continued into the city. Sure David was going to join her since it seemed he took her up on the offer of traveling with her and the group of strangers she has gathered. [break][break] Personally she was all for traveling alone and preferred it out of everything. People were annoying and liabilities she didn't care for. However, she was just a fifteen year old girl after all, so many troublesome groups of people she could meet on the road. No for the time being, she needed groups of strangers to be alibies and assist her till she can find her own footings. She had hoped traveling would be a lot more exciting and not as restraining, but it seemed, it was even harder to be herself. I hate the fact Xue was right, this whole hiding is so boring and playing the damn damsel that needs a prince charming to protect her. Not to mention, my itch is growing and its getting harder keeping it contained. She thought to herself with a sweet smile on her face, skipping as she moved into the town, making sure to keep near by David. [break][break]

The caravan arrived at it's destination, coming to a sudden halt, awakening the young swordsman. David stirred slowly from his reverie. While he had been sleeping; in his dreams, the barren expanse of The Shadow Lands stretched out; as if swallowing him whole. It was dragging him back. But after awakening, David realized, the dark insidious feeling was merely inertia, perhaps. Opening his eyes; they drifted to the left and than to the right, assessing their owner's surroundings. After a satisfactory amount of time adjusting to the light, David emerged from his slumber whole-heartedly. He humbled himself as he stepped out of the caravan, upon remembering his words prior sleeping, he listened to the young woman with abysmal enthusiasm. Five mundane knives somewhere hiding on her person. David attempted to relax, listening more intently; she inferred upon his sanctioned agreement to accompany her. He nodded meekly.
As far as Aries Garse's reputation was concerned, David didn't gamble. His time here would be spent wisely, or so he hoped. The Capital of the Kingdom was still distant, but it was getting closer. Personally, he wanted to work as many paying jobs as he could on the way there. The Yul yielded from such a pilgrimage, it would surely be worthwhile, David imagined. The setting sun taunted him, as he reflected on how well-rested he was, David realized that it was going to be a very long night. His vigil was watching over this young woman, and chaperoning her to the capital. He didn't imagine he would be compensated for his efforts to do so, but hands that serve are holier than lips that pray. The streetlamps were being lit, people slowly ebbed and flowed in and out of the buildings. Taking themselves where-ever they deemed their fortune would be found. David's eyes looked for a tavern, or restaurant. Being hungry himself, he felt as though feeding the young woman was paramount to departing for the capital.
Being a man of few words, David gestured towards a nearby building. The pungent smell of food drifted out the door, he rifled through his pockets for his wallet. The concierge's smile gleamed at the sight of David fumbling for Yul that would soon be spent at their establishment. David wasn't certain if the girl was still with him, but the concierge's frown indicated to David that she was probably within an associable distance. Being a smart man; as David was, he knew an impatient man when he saw one. David indicated he would like a table for two. "Table for two, thanks? " The concierge pardoned himself; noticeably remembering less courteous patrons, he proceeded to smile once more and beckoned the both of them; if present, to their seating arrangements. David hoped the food tasted as good as it smelt.

Ryoshi had only recently returned to the forsaken region during his travels due to having lost the trail of his little sister Aelia, while he had decided to take a small break he was by no means done hunting her as he had been given a task by his father and he would keep hunting her down to the ends of the earth if need be but even the mightest hunter needs rest every now and then, as the aura mage entered into Aeris Garse he made sure his swords were secure on his back and his grimoire was hidden under his coat like usual, he normally kept it unbuttoned on the road but while in town he needed to keep his chest covered to avoid drawing too many looks, as he glanced around he decided that a bite to eat was most likely his best option, turning into a nearby restaurant he stepped inside and took a seat at a nearby booth.
After a moment the waitress would ask for his order and the hunter gave a glance at the menu before asking for a tomahawk steak with some mashed potatos on the side, he also asked for a glass of whiskey to go with it to which the server nodded before going to have the order prepared. As his glass was brought out to him Ryoshi took a light sniff to make sure it wasnt tainted with anything but to most it would seem as if he was just enjoying the scent of it before he took a small sip and enjoyed the flavor of the alcohol. The taste of oak and a like hint of smoke with some soft butterscotch notes went across his palate as he let his aqua eyes scan the surroundings subtly, there wasnt much going on just random people talking and a few shady figures here and there talking busniess, the man didnt get much time to think it over as his food arrived.
The food looked good and had been cooked to his specification medium rare and as he cut and took a bite of it he enjoyed the tender feeling and the flavor of the meat as he enjoyed a bit of the potatos as well finding them creamy and fluffy as well, his train of thought shifted though as he saw two more people enter the establishment one being a man who seemed like he had a bit of training and a young girl beside him. The man didnt even register on ryoshis radar as he want to bother with him but the girl there was something about her that made him curious as he stole a glance at her subtly to make sure he wasnt caught or seemed suspicous as he ate.
Saeka stayed near David as she looked around excited at everything and one in amazement. IN truth, she was scanning the area for anyone or one that stood out to her. She kept a close eye on David, ensuring she stayed near by as she looked around the restaurant from beside David. [break][break] She watched him look for his wallet before requesting a table for two. She silently followed him as she skipped keeping her playful smile on her face as she folded her hands behind her, as she scanned the room in awhile before taking a seat, deciding the seat with her back to the wall. She rested her bag beside her as she got adjusted in the chair. "You don't need to worry about the bill. I got it." She spoke with a smile adjusting the straps of her spenders holding up her skirt. [break][break] She reached up messing with her ponytail while looking around the room. She took in every smile detail noting the various customers. Some speaking in their small groups, others laughing and enjoying a meal. She caught a subtle glance of one customer towards them as she moved her eyes back to her ponytail. She turned her head slightly to the side , using her hands and bangs to allow herself to watch the strange patron within their veiled safety. She didn't know what it was about him but something wasn't sitting right with her. Maybe it was just her nerves or her need to let down this act. She turned her attention back to David as she looked at the menu "Uh hm.. I always wanted to try an actual steak.. Medium rare with mash potatoes. I hope they were as good as grandma made them and uh... Some water will be fine to drink." She stated knowing exactly what she wanted as she looked towards David "What you having David?" She asked curiously. [break][break] Once he had ordered she awaited their dinner and decided to have a chat "So tell me, why did you agree to help me on my journey to the capital? Didn't you live in Sosshi?" She asked curiously. That was one thing that didn't set with her. She had plenty of company and companions to follow her to the capital but David decided to stick with her on ensuring she reached the capital. Did he feel the calling to help a girl like herself? the road was dangerous and who knows what monsters lurk in the shadows around clover. [break][break]

The blank expression on his face was clearly permission to pay for the meal. Adrenna referred to steak like it was an unprocured item, a fascination that was contriving to seem odd. David passed his suasions liberally, scanning the menu himself. "I'll order a garlic bread to start. " He wasn't essentially refined enough to make decisions with other people's money, and any such recourse would be a matter far too self-serving than gracious to tackle with a knife and fork. Food wasn't an issue in his household, but that may not be so for the young woman in front of him. She did seem a little thin. Her question was simply taken as curiosity, he leaned back in his seat and spoke with the same integrity one might expect from an honest man."It would be strange to not have chivalry to lean on in these circumstances, " he implied the rhetoric of being virtuous, then proceeded to elaborate his meaning by making it plain. "But, I suppose, it wouldn't be right to let you go all that way by yourself."
The food was brought to them separately, David's garlic bread first and then the woman's steak. The garlic bread was sliced in a way that insisted on it being shared. David had sensed the kiln roaring into life. The smell was gratifying to his senses, it had been a long time since fine dining was on the menu. His hand shook slightly as he lifted it; holding his utensil, focus blatant on his face. He was unsure of how to eat garlic-bread with a fork, but made an honest attempt at doing so. Uncertain of where this night may lead them, he sat patiently. Surveying his surroundings, David relaxed. The other gourmands, busy with their own affairs, went about their business. Courage beheld him when he decided to speak again, he was curious as well, as to her prerogative and initial standing on philosophy. "My common sense tells me, you're the conscientious type. So, why are you going to the capital?" David hoped that his question was not rude, or too nosey. His voice clearly concerned about the predicament about utensils and the garlic bread.

Ryoshi remained where he was enjoying his drink and his meal deciding to take his time and savour the flavor, as he was doing so though he was very lightly sniffing the air and it was light enough that no one would be able to pick up on it since he wasnt making any noise and he wasnt being obvious. In truth the aura mage was detecting and memorizing the scents of the people in the room and making sure to detect subtle differences in each one and while some were rather appalling most were easy to seperate even from the delicious smells of food in the air, it was a using skill to have that he employed often due to his beast aura, as he ate more of his steak and the mashed potatos he listened in on the conversation of the two people that had just walked in and decided to see if they would be any amusement for him since so far he had been rather bored.
It seemed from what he could pick up that the two were headed to the capital of clover and it seemed they were still getting to know each other, the male however seemed a bit dense from what he could tell as his very subtle glance went across them as he took a drink to disguise that he was looking, as he kept eating Ryoshi had to resist the urge to smirk.'hmm depending on how this conversation goes I might just have something to keep me entertained and should I need to I can always hide the pests body afterwards I dont need knights on my tail' he thought to himself knowing that he already had a close shave when he got into eclipse raven and he had no desire to repeat anything like that until he was sure he could kill any who would come after him.right now all Ryoshi could do was wait until they left before he did anything since if he moved before then he would seems suspicious and he had no intention of tipping his hand anytime soon
Saeka kept note of all going on around the restaurant taking in all the subtle movements and conversations. Watching each and every server, walking past them or a customer. Nothing was escaping her sight. Maybe it was her nerves or her need to kill with so many possible targets. She kept her smile on her face "Oh Me? Well it isn't a secret why I am heading to the capital. My parents were separated unfortunately, due to well their own facades of their own actions towards one another. Mother told her lies father had his rage. You know normal parent things or would it be adult things? Hm.. Anyways, Mother feel ill about a year ago. It was just me and her for as long as I can remember." She spoke allowing her eyes to soften as if in a sad thought "I don't remember much of my father. I know his name starts with a R. Mom always was sad, angry and happy speaking of him. I had to bury her last month and well with nothing left where we lived, I am on a journey to travel to the capital. Father was last seen there from mother's notes at the harbor as a dock worker?" She questioned trying to think of the proper terms to use in explanation. Trying to talk like a naïve child was so annoying. She still was very much a child physically but well above her age mentally. She let of of her train of thought, allowing the smells of her steak, fill her noes before her knife skillfully cut into it with one go, taking a small piece of it before examining it closely, blowing on it lightly before taking a bite."It is so good!" She exclaimed lightly to herself enjoying the steak. Sure she had her rice crackers but those got bland and stale quickly. Normally they would be fine to eat for ages but she had company she needed to keep occupied on both fronts.
[break][break] "So lets see. I been traveling for well a few weeks. I made several friends along the way and learned so many things on the road." She added acting excited to spill the beans. "I have learned so much of plants and wild life. Never skinned an animal for its meat but I enjoyed catching fish with one of our companions a day or so ago." As much as she was not one for telling truths, she had to be as convincing as possible plus stuff that anyone on the road would find tendinous. Children would find fun right? She most certainly had fun on each occasion but not in the ways she spoke. "Oh are you going to stay with me when we reach the capital or do you plan to go back home in Sosshi? I still plan to ensure you get paid for your troubles of wanting to ensure my safety." she asked curiously. Adrenna was definitely needing to know David's plans so she can work around or accommodate her own while keeping him in the shadows of her real objective. [break][break]

Nibbling conservatively on his meager rations, he listened and weighed on her words as if they were conceivably hard to comprehend. Adrenna's parent's, estranged as they were, were still her parents. David sympathetically nodded along to the story, acknowledging the awfully considerate amount of exuberant detail. If he had the heart to tell her, it did not show; but he certainly thought it. "There might not be anyone for her in The Capital." She stabbed him in the heart with her insurance that he would be paid, a cold feeling prickled over his skin - like he was suddenly not the stoic construct he portrayed himself to be. David often spoke with eloquence, but at times like these, he couldn't find any philosophical refuge or solace, knowing. He gathered his wits quickly, realizing, he was being questioned. "Depends -" The circumstantial rhetoric was employed to provide time for cognitive function, David proceeded to speak after a small amount of consideration. "Do you think, you'll need my help?" He quickly reiterated, politely making plain what he alluded to, "Finding your father, that is?"

Ryoshi listened as the two kept talking and he finished his mashed potatos as he listened to the girl go on about looking for her father in the capital and while the two would chat and mention payment indicating that the male was most likely a body guard for the young woman the aura mage bit back a snort as he finished off the rest of his steak and his alcohol as he knew that such a little runt most likely wouldnt even be a challenge for him, as he set his glass down after finishing the last bit of it he stood and stretched a bit getting the stiffness out of his limbs before he reached into his coat and would pull out a small bag of yul and tossed it on the table. Turning to the waitress who had served him he gestured over to it with his head.”payments on the table with a nice tip I'll be sure to stop by again” he stated before he turned and would walk out of the building his movements calm and lacked any suspicion as he wasnt moving fast enough to make people curious but not to slow that it seemed like he was stalling.
Once he was outside however the aura mage would turn to the left and back into the streets before he would make one more turn into a darkened alley right next to where the restaurant was and he would channel mana thru his hands causing a set of aura claws to appear on his hands and feet a basic application of his beast aura element, once he stabalized them he would glanced to make sure he wasnt being watched by anyone before he would suddenly would slam the claws into the stone wall and start to climb up using his aura claws to quickly and nimbly scale the wall and since the wall had a fair about of damage to it it wasnt completely out of the ordinary. Ryoshi reached the roof of the restaurant and he would sit near the edge far enough to be out of view but close enough that he could see anyone exiting and the direction they would be going into."and now to wait for the pray to emerge if it relieves my boredom then its worth the wait” he muttered to himself so only he would hear it as he waited for the two to leave so he could start the game.
Saeka continued eating her steak, quickly finishing half of it before pushing the plate away. She look around the restaurant noticing one of the patrons left amongst others. Her eyes narrowed before softening again as she turned to David "Well that depends. I hope he is there but if he isn't then well I guess my travels will continue till I can find a place I can call my own." She spoke with a smile. She knew the one place she belonged but that place was not here nor was it a place he would ever be allowed to see. [break][break] She got down from her chair readjusting her skirt as she turned to her bag digging through it pulling out a small bag of yul handing it to their waitress " That will pay more then enough for our meal and anything else he wishes to get" She said to the waitress sweetly before turning to David. "When you are ready to go David, I will be at the door. I still want to explore more of this city. I also got to restock on some of my own provisions." She said sweetly moving to the exit walking out of the restaurant as she looked around standing next to the entrance as she looked up to the moon allowing a grim to form on her face. " Now your willow's fallen, Now you belong to me."She whispered to herself. She found a unusual excitement, no longer finding herself bored. [break][break] She knew many monsters but none ever sent forth a challenge however being here, she could feel one lurking and waiting within the shadows. How dare it think her shadows were going to keep it safe from her. Maybe this sensation was the acknowledgement that she needed to kill once again or maybe there was one like her near by. She closed her pastel pink eyes recalling the restaurant as the only thing that stood out was someone who had been seated a few tables towards her left. She couldn't recalled them fully down to the smallest detail but she knew one thing. It was going to be a fun hunt within this games of shadows. However she had an obstacle of keeping David safe alive and unknowing. She needed him alive to keep an alibi and keep eyes off her. This would be so much more fun if she had one of her siblings with her. probably one of her older brothers. Oh the things she could learn. [break][break] She crouched down next to her bag digging in it as she brought out her cloak and a small stuff bear looking at it closely before putting it back in her bag "Alright.." She said to herself pulling the cloak over her shoulders. before adjusting the bag on her shoulders waiting on David. She had a busy night ahead of her while they waited to make their departure to continue on their way [break][break]

Wantonly snacking on an egregious amount of garlic bread satisfied David, who was quite content recovering his strength for the time. He nodded, acknowledging that Adrenna would be at the door; knowing it was rude to keep a woman waiting, he finished his meal and thanked the staff. The young man counted three people, including himself leaving the diner. Almost simultaneously or in a uniform sequence, it didn't warrant suspicion as it was only an intrepidly astute observation on his behalf. Being none the wiser, David walked to the door and looked for Adrenna. She had donned her cloak, and David made no observation or assumption past that she was now ready to disembark. David smiled and waved. They had not discussed or planned their route, so he made light conversation, "Where to now?" He spoke sounding satiated. David looked around, hoping to get a bearing on their location.

From his spot on the roof the aura mage kept track of everyone that was moving about on the ground and he made sure to avoid being noticeable which meant that anyone who was as high as he was on the roof would be the only one to spot him and at this time of night that was a very slim to none chance with a emphasis on none, as the girl that had caught his eye emerged he smirked as he leaned backwards to make sure she didnt spot him and he heared her whispering something about willows falling and that something belonged to her and while it was almost impossible for most to pick up he was able to catch it no problem and even smirked. As her companion emerged and asked which way they would be heading the hunter listened and kept a steady eye on them, once he heard them start moving he would move over to the edge and lightly jump off as he formed a claw of aura from his cupped hand and would use it to drag himself down the brick wall without leaving much damage and making little to no noise.
As he reached the bottom he flicked his hands to get rid of the aura around his hand and he smirked to himself.”let the games begin little kitty but rest assured by the time you catch on it will be far to late to stop me” he muttered to himself as he would move out of the alley casually as if it wasnt odd and despite the time of night there were plenty of people so it didnt seem odd as he emerged, he would start following Saeka and David but he was far enough back and there was enough people between them that he wouldnt seem that suspicious and if they were to approach him he could easily throw them off by saying he was simply going in the same direction. Soon enough he would start playing mind games on the girl but for now it was time to see how this played out
Saeka adjusted the cloak over the knapsack over her left shoulder as she smiled "Well I plan on getting some snacks and stuff for the road. You can never be too careful. Plus I wanted to see what this village is all about. I heard of its nightlife from mom so it is something I have wanted to see and experience for myself." She spoke sweetly bouncing on the balls of her feet "So uh lets go a random direction and see what the city has awaiting for us." She stated in glee. She allowed herself to get hyped up and hyper. Not for the thought of how exciting her exploration was going to be. No, she was truly excited to see what her and David was in for. [break][break]
She knew many rogues and criminals have moved through this city over the year of activity. She knew gambling was a stable in this city and those who wish to be shady without truly being shady to the point of being on the radar of the authorities, such as the magic knights, nor were they worthy of a bounty on their heads. [break][break]
Saeka bounced around next to David, seemingly happily "Come come! the night is young and we got a lot to do before morning for the cart ride. We need to get food and snacks along with whatever else we might need on the way to the capital." She commented ensuring she was obnoxious on her speech. She looked around, seemingly excited as she grabbed ahold of David's hand pulling him after her. She kept note of the expressions she could see around them. She needed to keep track for her guts sake. She knew there was someone like her around. call it a sixth sense. maybe call it a predator's intuition. She wasn't sure what it was but she knew it well. a lot of who she grew up around had given this feeling distant or dormant depending on who your dealing with. They were scary but this feeling. she wasn't sure about. it excited her and maybe it was because of the unknown. She knew the monsters back home for the most part, how could she not? This one she didn't know and maybe that was the excitement of it all. [break][break]
She let go of David's hand as she adjusted her cloak heading towards the market area of the town. She was truthful when she said they needed to grab snacks and food for the road, cause after all, you can use such things to hide intent as well as observation without any tells as well as the simple knowledge of how to use your environment to your advantage. Sure Saeka has been trained since the age of three for such things but training with family is much different then going in blind with no assistance other then yourself. She might be out of her element but she was going to enjoy the experience. Or well might enjoy it more without the knowledge of someone with such strong magic, possibly interfering with that fun. [break][break]
"So tell me David, you have traveled before right? what supplies do you think we should get?" she asked curiously hopping up and down a bit attempting to see over or around those taller then her. in truth, she was keeping herself contained and moving, preparing for whatever she needed to. She moved around the crowd looking at stall to stall, finding a food one. "Nice and small." She spoke to herself making a mental note of what she needed to look for. [break][break]

David was being led into the heart of Aries Garse. He knew the location was prevalent with gambling and that Yul was better spent acquiring supplies, so he heeded Adrenna's words. There was a strange feeling enveloping him. In this crowd of people, it would be easy to get lost. David wasn't gifted when it came to sensing mana. Every person seemed to blend in out of habit; David may have noticed a few unique individuals, and although there were a few exceptions, David didn't see any reason to pick anyone out of the crowd. David's four-leaf cover grimoire was not hidden and was at his side as stark as any sword. As David approached the market stall, he thought, "What would travel well?" He looked over what was available and said, "We'll need salt. To preserve what we purchase." Nothing like a pocket full of sand. "And apples. The big ones. ""An apple a day keeps the doctor's away." He poignantly thought. Hefting one to judge its weight, David felt three would suffice. "Bread would be nice. " He pointed at a stale baguette. That was the kind of bread he liked.
Post by Ryoshi Miten on Mar 5, 2023 5:02:41 GMT -5
Ryoshi watched as they would keep moving and he hung back moving thru the crowd a bit away from them but he made it look like he was mearly traveling the same way as them and made sure that any glances he sent at them were subtle and hard to trace, he needed to seperate them but in a city like this it was not that easy and one wrong move would tip his had very quickly, he needed to be clever about this or there would be problems. As he followed them into what appeared to be a market place Ryoshi kept his distance but as they would start to buy things he decided to make a purchase as well seeing as he was in the area, he looked around at the stalls before he found one that interested him, it as a shop selling masks and while most were kiddish and for jokes or festivals there were a few that caught his eye more then the others.
Some of the masks had quite the frightning visage on them and one in particular caught his eyes, it was a terrifying mask of a wolf baring its teeth and the very energy the mask gave off was one of fear and dread something that got the aura mage to smirk,”I think I want to by this one how much?” he asked the shop keep who looked at it then thought before speaking.”hmm 800 Yul its not as cute as the others and if it has any magic in it no one has unlocked it so its a dud for me” he stated as Ryoshi offered a small bag of yul to the man who counted it then smiled as he passed the mask to him. The aura mage would then stash it in his cloar before he moved to pass by where his two targets were purchasing from, he remained far away but as he passed he subtly would grab a marble sized piece of stone from the ground before channeling his beast aura thru his fingers and Flicked it sending it at one of the shop keepers they were talking too at very high speed, Ryoshi was very subtle about the move and aimed low so it would be hard to target but if it struck the target he would no doubt be howling in pain from the wound he got and it would spark some chaos.
