[attr="class","luthorscroll"] With Taiyo and Sumire together heading off to another event of the fete, it was going to be based on food. While they could do the eating competition, that could make them sluggish and halt them from enjoying other events. As a result, it was more logical to cook first then head over to the eating contest. Who knew, maybe the winner of the cooking contest’s meal is the meal that the eating contest’s contestants had to eat. Maybe it was things that were already ready and prepared. Regardless, he wanted them both to do both events if she chose to accompany him for the next few events. [break][break] Taiyo led them to the cooking contest area to get them signed up. He never thought he’d join a cooking contest before since his meals are usually made for him by servants. That was fine though as he did know how to prepare meat and fish. For the rest, how hard could it be? Well, that was about to be known. It would appear that there were others there who were also signing up so there was a bit of a line. ”Good luck to you, Sumire. Who knows, you may even win. I don’t think I can but you never know.” What would be the odds that he actually won? [break][break] Once he was signed up, he moved away to the preparation area to let Sumire and others sign up. He was presented tons of ingredients to choose from for his meal. Selecting venison as his meat of choice, he looked at the options that would be best to go with it. He saw some carrots which he had a plan for so he took those up. He also saw zucchini and mushrooms which he also took. As he moved around he saw cauliflower and took some of that and cheese. He grabbed beans last and then moved to prepare his meal. [break][break] He watched the other contestants get into position. This was his time to try his hand. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. You got this. How hard could it be, right?

Sumire followed after taiyo, ignoring the glances and whispers. She knew of what the people of this kingdom thought. They were childern compared to the world back in the east. There was nothing any of them could do, Nor was there going to be anything they can say that was going to change her mind. She was going to attempt to enjoy this event regardless and possibly find more cliental for the shop. She was curious of whatever this fete had to offer and it seemed as though Taiyo choose a cooking competition. "It truly sounds like fun." She spoke with a smile as she looked towards him before scanning the area, following him in to a designated station as she looked at the given ingredients.
"Good luck lord vermillion "She spoke awaiting for the announcement as she took out a large ribbon from within her obi, tying her sleeves back behind her before looking at the various utensils. She grabbed the needed items before looking at the selections of meats deciding a dish she knew was simple and easy to eat. She choose a fillet and as much as she would have liked or preferred fish. She had venison to work with so she had just had to make do with what she had. She went to quick work curing and cooking the fillet while working on the sauce in the meantime/

[attr="class","luthorscroll"] When Taiyo made his suggestions, Sumire said that she didn’t mind doing the cooking contest then the eating contest and after they could possibly do other ones. She also mentioned that she wasn’t the best cook but she enjoyed cooking for her three younger siblings. It was quite noble of her considering she enjoyed that. She was surely a girl of many talents. She could sing, she could cook (hopefully), she could make clothes… she was gorgeous. Whoever she ended up with would be getting quite the package. For this evening however, she was hanging out with him. He had extended a hand to her and she took it, allowing him to escort her around the fete. [break][break] Taiyo guided her to the cooking contest area. As they walked together, there were many whispers and glances. It was the same way when he visited her shop to get his fitting. Back then she had apologized to him for the people but this time they were getting on his nerves. Couldn’t he just exist in peace? Well, no. He was in the spotlight. That’s what it meant to be a main noble. What was worse was the fact that he was a disgraced noble. Well, disgraced in the fact that he had his heirship stripped away and it was given to another person. Just how much of this was he going to have to deal with before action was necessary? The laughter and chatter seemed to get louder to him but it was all in his head. Adding to that was a sinister cackle in the area but when he looked, there was nothing there. He let out a sigh and put on a smile. ”I’m sorry. I seem to be the talk of the town yet again. Well, let’s do our best to simply enjoy the event.” [break][break] Taiyo changed the subject to something more appropriate. He wanted to lighten the mood. ”A competition for the best cooking around, sounds like fun, huh?” He said before she said it truly sounded like fun. He guided her to the sign up area and they got signed up. [break][break] She wished him luck, calling him Lord Vermillion. Taiyo chuckled and nodded. ”Good luck to you as well.” Even though his ex called him that out of spite, that wasn’t something he needed to tell her. No girl wanted to hear about a guy’s ex. ”Also, with me, you don’t need to be so formal, Sumire. We’re friends.” [break][break] As the contest started, Taiyo started preparing the meal. He started off with the meat as that needed to be put on first at the perfect temperature. As the meat was on, he then focused on the sides he planned on putting together. He started with the carrots. He peeled them and seasoned them with parsley and a small amount of clove before he chopped them up. He had heard of that recipe from which he had actually tasted before. Next up was using the zucchini and mushrooms. He placed them in a pan that was well prepared and sauteed them, adding in small herbs. With the cauliflower and cheese, he prepared a casserole. Lastly was the beans which he placed on the side of the dish. He made sure that the right seasonings were added to the venison as it was under the heat. [break][break] Once it was all done, Taiyo had it plated and made sure everything looked well proportioned on the plate, simply awaiting the tasting and then their judging. He smiled proudly as he completed his dish and he didn’t even burn anything. The meat was well done. He placed his tray down with his presentation of food. He looked over to see what the others were doing or had done. He also looked over to Sumire. ”What did you make over there? Is it something from the East or is it from Clover?” He looked over at her and flashed his signature smile. He was always a competitive person and he was enjoying this. Even if he didn’t win this one, he was sure betting that he was going to win the eating contest since he didn’t think anyone in the kingdom could eat more than he could faster than he could.

Sumire continued her dish working on the sauce and finishing touches while grabbing the venison that had finished cooking as she allowed it to rest. She smiled at her work taking the extra time and patience ensuring each small piece of food was in its proper place. She carefully sat the venison on the plate as she adjusted it to where she imagined it to be place " I am doing a rendition of sorts. I would have preferred fish, but venison is what i have to do stuff with so I will make do. "She said "this is something my grandmother use to make for me. She use to use squid cut into tiny fillets and made into an image." She said "So I am adapting the take on it."She said with a smile wiping off the excess sauce and placings of items that were not where she wanted them. She backed up when placing her platting where it was to be as she was happy with her dish adapting it to where it was.
She watched the judges observe and taste each of their dishes as she wiped her hands on the cloth, letting down her sleeves as she heard of the winner " I have decided the winner" announce the head judge after deciding their dishes " The winner is Sumire Honoka. While Taiyo's food was prepared excellently and elegantly of a noble. the subtle flavors and tastes of Sumire's Meal has really upped her game. "Spoke the Judge
"Thankyou, you are too kind. I quiet enjoyed working with venison." She spoke with a smile before turning to leave her cooking area. She stopped when meeting with another kimonoed servant leaning forward as she listened to the whisper from the woman " Oh really...Alright, if that is what is needed I will tend to it."She Spoke gently before turning to everyone before bowing in respect " Thankyou all for allowing me this opportunity to cook for you, I truly enjoyed the experience of it all. I must take my leave as there is business matters that require my time and dedication. I do hope you all have a very blessed day and may the sun never set on your bright futures. "She Spoke with a smile straightening herself up as she headed off to the next adventure of the fete awaiting her as this one was to be of business, Her father wished it and she was going to tend to it as he wished. The family and coin comes before one's own heart in her world.
[attr="class","luthorscroll"] Taiyo cooked up his meal while talking to his friend Sumire. They had both signed up to cook a meal in the cooking competition. The ingredients presented were based around Venison. He had asked Sumire what she was preparing and if she was going to do something from the East. She spoke of how she would have preferred to use fish but she was going to make do with what she had. She was going to use a technique her grandmother would do when preparing squid cuts. She was going to try to use that method with her Venison, making it into fillets. [break][break] After they both prepared their meals, the judges tasted them and decided on who was going to be the winner. Sumire won but Taiyo also got praise for how his meal was prepared. Taiyo turned to her with his signature grin and folded his arms. ”Congratulations. The food is just as beautiful as you. I hope someday I can taste it too.” As she moved to leave the cooking area, she was approached by someone who gave her a message. She probably needed to go somewhere important and deal with family business or something. She bid them farewell and he waved at her. ”Be seeing you around.” [break][break] With her gone, he cleaned up and set out to the eating contest area. He was sure he could handle this as well. He was very confident in his abilities. Who would be able to out eat him? That was a good question. He walked over to the sign up area and signed up, seeing others sign up as well. Maybe, one of the others signing up would surprise him but he would have to wait and see. [break][break] Taiyo moved to the eating area with the other contestants and sat down. He took a few breaths in preparation. He looked over to the others who were participating and they all looked like they were extremely hungry. There was a look in one of their eyes that showed a fire. She seemed like she would be able to contend well however that was if Taiyo wasn’t in the running. He naturally ate plenty and this was the perfect time to show off that skill. They had to eat all they could in 10 minutes without overexerting themselves. He smirked as he looked over at the other five contestants. He hoped they were all prepared for the battle ahead. He had a really high metabolism so this was going to be a breeze for him. The only thing that worried him was getting distracted by whatever seemed to be haunting him. [break][break] It came time to get started. The first bowls were placed in front of the contestants. This one was filled with noodles. “Begin!” Taiyo started eating, the same as the other contestants. What was different between them was how much food was being put inside their mouths as well as how quickly it took them to chew and swallow. In no time, Taiyo had finished his bowl while most of the other contestants were now reaching the midway point of their bowls. Taiyo smirked as the second dish was placed before him. 5 Kebabs were not going to stop the cosmic magic user. One after the other, he cleaned the stick and waited for the next meal. The other contestants were now finishing up their bowl of noodles. [break][break] The third dish was presented to Taiyo as the Kebabs were given to the other contestants. The third dish was pot potatoes. He ate those quickly, feeling his mouth dry up from the experience but it wasn’t going to stop him at all. The 4th dish was served and it was rice balls. He looked over to the far right and saw one of the contestants also getting rice balls. Looks like he was going to have competition after all. He quickly ate the rice balls, the other contestant doing the same as he was. The difference was he was accustomed to taking in this much quickly and that gave him a slight advantage. The other contestant started coughing before throwing up. He was out of the competition. The girl that Taiyo had seen the fire in her eyes was on his trail though and she didn’t look phased at all. [break][break] With the girl catching up, Taiyo grinned from excitement. He was given his next dish which was sushi. He wasn’t a huge fan of sushi but he ate it like it was nothing. After a few more dishes, he and her were at the same dish with seconds on the clock. He wasn’t psyched out one bit. With the time counting down, he put as much as he could in his mouth before putting the bowl right to his head, finishing the contents right before time was up. As time was up, he stood up and wiped his lips. “Looks like we have us a winner, Taiyo Vermillion.” He smiled and waved. ”Thanks.” He turned to the girl who gave him the most competition. ”Thanks for making this as exciting as it could be.” She smiled and wiped her mouth. “Likewise. Congratulations on your win.” He nodded before walking off.

[attr="class","luthorscroll"] Now that Taiyo had finished his tasks, he felt like he simply wanted to relax and enjoy the rest of the festival. He didn’t see himself doing much more than what he had done. He wasn’t planning on doing all the tasks so the few that he did were pretty good. He had painted eggs and saw his ‘friend’ Amaya and her new boyfriend, Sol. It was not weird or awkward for him. Whether it was for her was her problem. After that, he arranged flowers with a few people before escorting Sumire to the cooking competition. She did great and won before she had to head off to handle things that didn’t concern him. And lastly, he won the eating competition. What a day of competition. It was a good escape and one that he didn’t mind having. [break][break] Now it was time to walk around and admire the things that were done. He made his way to the tree decorating area and looked at the trees that had been decorated. He had to admit, they looked well decorated. He continued looking at the tree, wondering about the future and what was to come. Come what may, he would have to face it.
