[attr="class","haniascroll"]It had been several months since the ice mage had the mantle as not only the vice-captain of the Crimson Lions but the head of the Ravencrest family. He was still concerned for his sister's well-being and had spent no small amount attempting to find her but as of yet, there had been no word. He knew that Lydia was more than capable of handling herself but given this all happened just before they were meant to fight Asmodeus the timing was a little strange. Then again, she was a member of the Azure Deer and they were the ones that were to scout that gods forsaken area. He had been there first-hand and knew that time-shifted differently, it was far too dangerous a place to go to so even magic knights weren't permitted unless with express permission from the wizard king himself.
Due to his injuries, he was still temporarily relieved of duty, this didn't honestly bother him too much as there was much he could do from within the estate. It had been weeks and healing magic had been used on him but as always it had been less potent than what it should be especially from decently strong healers. He knew he would have to rest and relax until his nanny Winter gave him the all-clear to go active on duty once more. He knew that it was odd that someone such as himself especially at his age with his responsibilities still had a nanny but there was a reason for it. One that wasn't known even to those within his family and that was due to his health and how badly immobilized he could become due to it. Winter was once a front-runner for the Coral Peacock captain but she no longer wished such stress in her life.
So she retired from the knights and instead took the job she has now. First, she was Alyssa Lilygate's nanny but when she outgrew the need for one she no longer had a purpose. That was until she was contacted to help look after her current ward which she had done since he was six years old. She grew from a family of herbologists, plant doctors, gardeners, apothecaries, midwives and doctors. She grew all the plants in a greenhouse only she had access to and made the ice mage's medicine personally. This was so she knew what exactly what he was ingesting and could make sure that they wouldn't affect one another. It still bothered her that while he was meant to be resting and relaxing he was still doing his normal morning routine. He knew it bothered her but he wasn't going to stop and it was something that she had to accept.
After he awoke from his coma he went through the letters that had accumulated during the time he hadn't been in the state or had been incapacitated. Each one he dealt with quickly and efficiently by sending replies with an apology for his tardy response. He was quite sure they would understand given what he had been through not so long ago. The final letter was from the head of another noble family. They wanted to talk business but said that it could wait until the families had formed a friendship. This had caught Hania off-guard as normally people were trying to get close to his family due to their strength and political pull so this was a breath of fresh air. He sent a reply thanking him for his understanding and that he would be willing to sit and discuss when the time was right.
It was then he realized he recognised the last name of the family and the crest. There were rumours about this family but as of yet there had been no real proof to back them up, but, in that same vein there had been no proof that it didn't happen either. Within the letter, he offered to allow one of the family members to stay on the Ravencrest estate and train. The invitation was an open one and he slipped a crest within the letter as he sent it off. Only with that emblem would the guards of the estate allow an unknown person onto the estate as it proved that Hania had agreed for the person to be there.
A simple bracelet made out of reinforced glass with an opalite charm dangling from it almost like a pendulum, that gives off a dull light during the day and a bright light during the night preventing any natural shadow from forming.
There is nothing of major historical importance or deep story into where this item came from. The white-haired heir of the Ravencrest family has suffered from terrible day and night terrors since he was young and still does to this day. When asked what is wrong he brushes it off telling people not to worry it was a condition he had. He will never go into the terrible things he sees, in fact, he personally wishes he could forget he quickly realized that his perfect memory was a double edge sword and at times he truly wished he didn't have it.
His elder sister Lydia was the first to realize that it happened more when he was in an emotional state or surrounded by darkness. She also realized that he refused to sleep unless every light source he could find was active or he would sleep outside under the sun during the day, this wasn't optimal as he was to be trained to take over the family if anything were to happen to Lydia. Still, there wasn't much anyone could think to do to help him as he refused to open up but even if they could that came with a different set of hurdles they had to get over. Hania earlier in his life wouldn't take things from people due to his treatment before being adopted.
It took a while but Lydia finally found a way to help her younger brother, she had a crystal made with light inside and told him to use it when he sleeps. She said it was hers and she just wanted to see if it would help. He was reluctant but she said it only had to be a few days so he accepted. Throughout those few days, he slept somewhat peacefully so it was clear that it helped but not enough, she could only guess that the light wasn't strong enough. She realized this would be fine for a normal child afraid of the dark but it was clear to the pink-haired woman that this wasn't a normal situation.
She personally designed what she believed would help him the most, she chose the materials, their appearance even the opalite that dangles from it. As the bracelet was being made she slowly started to imbue her own element into the glass beads and the opalite as the former was created and the latter was shaped. It took close to a year to complete but Lydia seen it as something that should be done slow and steady, this was to make sure that it was done right the first time and that no matter what it would be near indestructible for whatever he may face in life.
On what is now classed as Hania's eighth birthday after a certain incident happened, she gave him a box, within it laid the bracelet. He was told to keep it with him always as she would be there to keep the darkness at bay and watching over him so he could be at peace while he rested. From that moment he has always kept it with him even if he hasn't always worn it.

Kazuchou awoke to a light knocking at the door to his brother's bedroom. He had slept over in this room instead of his own due to the long period that went between his last visit and this one. Extricating himself carefully from his brother's large bed and stupidly fluffy blankets, he marches straight to the door in his borrowed pair of airy sleepwear with the intent of scolding whoever decided to wake him up. He barely opened the door before he was quickly stepping through the threshold and closing the door behind him. It wouldn't do to wake his still sleeping brother when he lectures the houj.
Just as he's about to open his mouth to begin scolding, the failure before him interrupts with a cheery smile. "Ah, good morning Chouji! Sorry for interrupting your sleep so early. I was wondering if you have seen your brother around. I checked his room, the dining room, and I just came from Lord Vangarde's office, but I have yet to find him. Your help would be greatly appreciated in finding him!" The houj spoke rapidly and was far too familiar for Kazuchou's liking, so he growled.
"Haaah...?" The fool recoiled violently, realizing their mistake. They bowed deeply to the knight he offended. "You really can't tell the difference between my brother and I? Yet you dare to speak in such a friendly manner at him. You really are a failure;" Kazuchou raises his right hand to his shoulder, winding up to backhand the bowing houj, "you should be grovelling at my feet, begging for my forgiveness."
With that, the magic knight strikes at the houj, hitting directly at the servant's right ear and sending the panicked fool to the floor. They're quick to recover though, pulling themself together to curl into a bow at Kazuchou's feet with their face pressed firmly on the floor. "Better. Now tell me why you had to go and ruin such a wonderful morning." The houj sputters at the order, delivering his message, "the Lord is summoning you to his office, sir. At once, sir. Please forgive me, sir!"
"Yet you had to go and waste so much of father's precious time." Kazuchou scoffs, rolling his eyes before turning to reenter his brother's room. "I better not see you again, houj."
Back in the room, the mage glances at the sleeping form of his brother-content to see he remains undisturbed-and down at his attire. As much as he was certain his father would love to see him in such a loose outfit, he has a feeling there is work to be done. So he dons his proper clothing and makes haste to the lord's office. Entering the elegantly decorated room, Kazuchou bows at his lord from a respectful distance, waiting to be addressed to ensure he doesn't interrupt. "Come here." The younger mage raises his head and approaches the front of the desk. Open envelopes stuffed with their letters littered the surface, save for one open correspondence laying closest to the seat with some trinket beside it. Lord Vangarde shifts in his chair, moving to sit at an angle with his legs spread before gesturing at Kazuchou to approach.
The younger Vangarde can't help but to roll his eyes as he rounds the desk to his lord's side dutifully. "I'm not a child anymore, father," he comments while following the older man's direction to sit on the offered leg, his own smaller legs resting between the gap of Alrich's knees. The lord's arm wraps around Kazuchou's back, his large hand resting just above the younger man's knee with his fingers laying gently upon the inner side of the thin thigh. "I know. Just let me hold you for a moment, son. You have only returned from your missions, but I'm afraid we won't get the opportunity to enjoy each other's company for another while yet. Read that letter. It should be all you need to understand your orders."
Kazuchou grabs the open letter on the desk-along with the trinket next to it-and begins to read, ignoring the soft petting of his father's fingers on his knee and the light tugging as the older man plays with a strand of his hair. The letter was a reply, an invitation from the Ravencrest family, and the trinket in his hand was their crest: a ticket into their estate for discussions and training, apparently.
"I understand, father, I'll go at once," Kazuchou declares, moving to remove himself from the older man's lap but remained in place by a firm hand. The other hand that played with his hair hooked under his chin to make the younger face the older. "Be careful with the Ravencrests, son. They are cunning and powerful. I expect you to represent us properly."
"I understand, my lord." Aldrich tuts being addressed so formally but relents his grip, allowing Kazuchou to leave for his new mission. He travelled with a junior mage within the family, their transportation magic was more handy than most, to the Ravencrest estate's gates. There, Kazuchou was approached by a guard who he showed the crest that he was given to be allowed entrance. He waved off the young Vangarde before allowing himself to be escorted to the manor.
[attr="class","haniascroll"]Hania had already finished his normal morning routine, he had received word that his invitation was accepted and that he would be expecting a member of the Vangarde around lunch. He had no idea how long he would have the guest living in his estate but so long he didn't disrupt the harmony of his home he could stay as long as was needed. After having his own breakfast he looked over the rest of what he had planned for that day, it was pretty clear for a change but then he likely cleared the day due to his guest. It was then he looked over any dietary or medical requirements that his guest would have to make sure that they were looked after properly. Optics were a thing and he wouldn't allow his family to be stained even a little because he was an ill-prepared host.
Once this was done he had some of his staff prepare rooms for his guest and any staff that they had with them, these rooms were no less luxurious than the ones his own family used. Even the ones for the staff would be well above what a noble within the Vangarde family had. With this set in motion he had those in the stable prepared for horses in case a carriage was the mode of transportation and that the carriage would also be cleaned and maintained upon arrival as he would expect the same for his own. He left word for each of his cousins about the guest and their staff's arrival and that they were not to do anything that could be seen as shameful. He was expecting problems, of course, he was as nothing ever went smoothly but he had contingencies for such things happening. He just hoped for smooth sailing for a change.
With every possible thing settled for his guest's arrival, he moved to the kitchen to start working on lunch, to his knowledge his cousins were enjoying themselves at the annual flower blossom fete held in Raque by the Blue Roses and so he wouldn't see any of them until the evening. After washing his hands and getting the ingredients he started to cook lunch. Within the kitchen Leone would be laid down with his ducks snoozing. He knew that he would have to prepare something for them too so he set about that at the same time. By the time Kazuchou arrived and was escorted with his entourage to the mansion he had just placed down the food for the mana beast and the ducks and was now moving to wash his hands for the umpteenth time. "Hania..." the servant that was guiding Kazuchou would call out respectfully.
"What is it Lei?" he would ask in return as he moved back to the cooker and brought a spoon with a little meat and vegetables to a sitting servant's mouth. The man ate it without issue savouring the taste and nodding showing that it was good "The guest from house Vangarde has arrived." she said once more as she smiled hearing the ducks "Seems like they really have taken a liking to being here, their habitat is almost complete." she said knowing that she would be the caretaker of the area they called home. "I am glad of it." he said waving for the sitting servant to deal with plating the food as he moved out of the kitchen to see who it was that he would be hosting, he was indeed surprised to see it was one of his own squadmates, but then it did make sense he supposed.
"Good afternoon Kazuchou, if you follow me to the dining hall lunch will be served soon." he said looking to Lei who merely nodded showing she understood some unsaid orders and showed Kazuchou's staff to their rooms first before taking them to where they would have lunch. Entering the dining room he offered a chair to his guest before sitting at the other side so they could converse face to face instead of sitting at the head of the table as he should given his place in the family. "Shi Lian, tea please." he said as a young woman entered the room, she bowed silently and went about her duty. "I hope that your journey wasn't too taxing on you Kazuchou" he said to the other as he poured a glass of water for them both before offering him one./div]

Kazuchou follows the guard towards the entrance of the mansion, taking his time to appreciate the grand estate's landscaping along the way. Chouji would love to explore the Ravencrest's gardens—perhaps if things pan out well during this visit, he'll be able to bring his younger brother along to see... Well, he'd see about sending his brother out this way one day, but he couldn't help the feeling that a certain level of cunning would be required to ensure there wouldn't be a breach in the deal he made with Lord Vangarde. He sighs under his breath at the thought-turned-memory, shaking himself back into the moment as a servant of the estate opens the front doors to welcome him inside the lavish entry. The guard, having completed his duty of escorting the short mage to the building, turns on his heel and leaves to return to his post at the gates.
Having been handed off to a servant within the mansion, Kazuchou took a mental note on his host not formally greeting him within the foyer with a tiny twitch of his eyebrow. He complies silently when the servant bade him to follow them to where the host currently was; the Lord Hania Ravencrest must have been quite busy to not receive his guest directly. Regardless, Kazu observed the environment within the building as he was guided—taking more mental notes on how things are done here to avoid any impolite behavior on his part.
'One thing is for sure,' Kazuchou thought, watching the servant leading him approach a set of doors, 'everything here seems very... relaxed, almost casual.' As if to prove this fact true, the leading servant entered the room—Kazuchou lingered behind, the smell of freshly cooked food wafting over—and addressed the lord of the house by name. No title, not even his last name, his given name. As if they were friends.
Kazuchou inhaled to school his reaction at the servant's action, he could easily imagine how his father would have acted at such a sign of disrespect (from the impact, the sounds, the feeling, he could experience it all vividly in his mind) let alone if it were a servant, a houj, who slighted him. He exhaled those thoughts away as a moment passed and an elegantly dressed figure replaces the servant from the doors and greets Kazuchou kindly. Kazuchou bowed his head slightly at the greeting. His host now stands before him, whom he recognizes as his Vice-Captain, but Kazuchou feels pinned under those icy eyes of his. The sharpness of them paired with the colorless hair were enough to invoke the visage of his father over the lord before him—Kazuchou keeps his face neutral.
"Lord Ravencrest, it's an honor to meet you outside of our duties," Kazuchou greeted Hania back without hesitation—although he was taken aback by the other mage addressing him so simply by name—before following his senior knight seamlessly at the invitation to lunch. He took the proffered chair before noticing his host sat across from him; everything about the Ravencrest seemed so contrary to the family's status. Ah, but this could very well be a test of the Vangarde family's patience, so Kazuchou will remain respectful until his visit concludes.
Kazuchou gratefully took the cup from Hania, taking a sip to brace himself for their small talk. He has to be respectful and keep his appearances. "My trip was hardly worth mentioning, sir. Although, had I known your impressive estate sported such magnificent gardens, I would have arrived earlier in the day to see them in the earlier light." He took another delicate sip from his cup before setting it down. "The gardens were still stunning, regardless of my time of arrival. Truly impressive."
The shorter mage left his turn of conversation at that flattery. He had no intention of undermining Lord Ravencrest's authority and chose instead to follow his family's most pivotal rule for respecting people of higher statuses: Speak when spoken to. That's not to say Kazuchou isn't interested in discussing the visit's plans with his host, he is rather excited to learn what to expect to avoid making a fool of himself but it would be rude to take control of the conversation from the upperclassman.
[attr="class","haniascroll"]Hania had observed Kazuchou from the moment he set his eyes on him, as much as he attempted to remain neutral the ice mage looked at micro-movements, micro-expressions and undertones before looking at what the person was attempting to portray. He had already picked up on the inhale and exhale of his guest, it was clear to the lord of the estate that the other was going to be in for quite the culture shock while he remained within the Ravencrest estate. He understood that every noble household was run differently, and he wasn't about to judge other nobles for that so long as they treated their staff as actual people and not as slaves. "I see you are from a more traditional household Kazuchou, I will instruct my servants to be more formal with you if that is your preference." his tone was completely level as he spoke.
His words weren't meant to shame Kazuchou but to show that he was going to accommodate what he was used to if that was what he wanted. The staff that worked for the Ravencrest could call the family members and any guests what they liked as long as it was respectful and the person in question didn't mind it, all Hania asked in return was that his guests respect his staff in kind and if there were any issues that he be notified so that he could take care of it. He would allow Kazuchou to let him know what he would like as he took his seat in the dining room "I do request that your own servants only call myself and my family members by their first names, we dislike being called by titles or our last name outside of the formal setting of court." he informed the other hoping he would respect his wishes.
"Kazuchou, I dislike being called sir, vice-captain, lord or by my last name please refrain from doing any such thing unless we meet each other in the noble court." He knew that was one of the very few places he couldn't escape such issues. "My name is Hania and this is how I prefer to be addressed." he said pouring himself a glass of water. "I know people like ourselves are blessed to be in positions we find ourselves in, it, however, can be quickly removed from us if we make crucial mistakes..." he said placing the jug down and using his mana to form ice crystals within the water without affecting the glass itself. "Look at the Vermilion." he said with a sigh, he didn't even want to think of the trainwreck that family was and how weak their would-be heir was.
"Those within the service of the Ravencrest are free to call members of the family and even our guests what they like as long as it is not insulting and the person in question does not mind it." he made this clear as he expected himself and his staff to follow the same rules. "I do not eat at the head of the table, I find it rude and insulting to those I am spending a meal with." he said simply realizing that his seating choice might seem off to Kazuchou given he seemed to be traditional. "The reason for this is that I like being able to look at the person directly when conversing, to me it is a sign of respect and would like the same shown to me." he said taking a sip of his water. It would be clear just from these few interactions this was just how the household was run.
He could tell that there was going to be small talk and though he wasn't one for it he realized in situations like these it was unavoidable. "I am sure the gardens at your home are equally as impressive, although, I have never garnered an invitation to visit and so wouldn't know personally." he said taking another sip of his water as Shi Lian came in holding a tray with teacups on saucers, a teapot, sugar, honey, milk and spoons. "Thank you Shi Lian." he said watching as she not only set out the items but silently poured them both a cup of tea starting with Kazuchou. "Of course... um..." she paused for a second making the ice mage look at her "What is it?" he would ask "Winter is concerned about your usual routine." she would say holding the tray in front of her.
"Yes, I can see why that would be concerning. My routine will have to be one hour earlier in the morning and one hour later in the evening, the current one will be changed to when I deal with family matters." he informed her, she bowed "I will inform her." she said leaving without another word. It would be clear to Kazuchou that even with the more relaxed atmosphere there was clearly a hierarchy in place that was adhered to and respected by everyone that called the estate home. "I do apologise, my nanny worries about certain routines I have being disrupted when I am entertaining guests." he said with a soft tone, he wasn't going to go any deeper into it, this was something that only a handful of people were trusted with and none of them were even family members.
"As for viewing the gardens in brighter light, you needn't worry as you will be spending quite some time training on this estate" he continued the conversation as if it hadn't been disrupted. "I also ask that while you respect the structure of my home you speak to me as peers not as a superior, you are my guest after all." he said placing down his glass and picking up the cup to take a sip of his tea. He could already taste the fact it was laced with his medicine. 'It would seem as if Winter is resorting to using an assassin's teapot to make sure I get my medicine at my usual times or at least a smaller dosage of it.' he thought to himself, there was no change in his posture or facial expressions. "I do apologise that I didn't meet you in the foyer, however, I thought I should have lunch prepared for your arrival." he said with a smile "Is there anything you wish to ask Kazuchou"

The guest listened intently to his host, watching him closely but avoidant of direct eye contact as far as he could help it without seeming rude. Kazuchou just couldn’t shake image of his father over Hania’s. Although the scene and lighting were different, it still reminded him of the forcefully intimate dinners they shared.
Kazuchou waved off Hania’s request regarding his servants casually to mask shaking himself from his own mind; it was a minor thing and while they were outside of the Vangarde estate there shouldn’t be an issue if he allowed his servants this small freedom. “I appreciate the exception with your servants and I will see to it that my underlings abide by your rules during our stay here, but I am afraid I cannot follow through myself. I do not mean to be untoward and disrespect your wishes, however I have been instructed to treat you with the utmost respect.”
He paused to sip his water again, this time looking to the decor than bothering to try and hold Hania’s unwavering gaze: he couldn’t read his host’s thoughts or intentions just by looking at him, but his words and ideals say that he was unlikely to harm Kazuchou during his stay. Regardless, he set down his cup and spoke again. “It was rather tragic, what happened to House Vermilion, however I have no intention of letting that befall mine own family—as I am sure you share the same sentiment. Ah, and as of an invitation to our estate…well I could talk with Lord Aldrich about securing you a visit but he is rather protective of our family…I will still put in a good word for you of course, if you desire. Although, our gardens a secondary to your own.”
The two were interrupted when a servant came in to deliver their tea. The shorter mage watched the servant pour him his tea, which he accepted with two spoons of sugar before tasting the tea. It was splendid but didn’t distract from the maid’s discussion with Lord Ravencrest, and Kazuchou couldn’t help but listen in to their discussion about some ‘routine.’ He had no intention of getting in the way, but it seemed the promptness of his visit called for some adjustments in their schedule. He watched her bow and leave after Hania’s word.
“I truly don’t mean to interrupt your houses’ flow, sir,” Kazu said in response to the short moment between his host and the servant, turning his gaze from where the servant exited the room and the decor to the tea set provided. He took his time to appreciate the design on the cups and pot; it was easier when he had a reason to not look at the other man before him. “I would hate to inconvenience you during my stay, so please think nothing of forcing me into your schedule. I would be more than happy touring your estate and maintaining my regimen while I’m here. I understand running a family can be quite taxing, so even if we only get to share meals together it would be enough for me.”
Again, Hania reminded Kazuchou of his wish to be seen as equals, but it wasn’t so simple for the Vangarde mage. It was a habit beaten into him, and something required by his father, in his bid to garner a closer relationship between the two families. There was a way around this though.
“I understand your wishes, sir, but perhaps if we could be friends I would be more inclined to speak casually with you. And you not meeting me at the foyer can be easily looked over, considering you were busy with–” Hania’s reason for missing him at the foyer just registered with Kazuchou and stunned him. He snapped his gaze from appreciating the colors of his cup contrasting with the color of the tea up to meet his host’s gaze, only to be shocked once more at the smile that met him. It was kind, warm, and perhaps genuine, but it reminded him of Chouji. That pure smile that used to be a permanent fixture on his face until the day of their ceremonies; a smile he never seen on his father.
“I-I…” he stammered out and felt a heat growing on his face. So Kazuchou cleared his throat and lower his gaze back to his cup, taking a deep breath in and out to get back on the topic. “You cooked? Surely you have chefs to do the cooking for you. Not that I don’t appreciate it or doubt your cooking skills, of course. It just seems like being the head of the family is busy enough, but to add cooking on top of it?”
[attr="class","haniascroll"]The ice mage noticed the discomfort of the other, he hadn't really met Kazu before now even if he did help deal with reports and assign tasks when their captain was unable to do so himself for whatever reason. I honestly made him wonder if he even wanted to be in his home let alone his presence. He watched as the other came back to his senses as the conversation continued, he took note of the wording used and realized he thought little of those who served him. As much as he may want to ask questions on such practices he knew not all families were like his own when it came to their servants. "I am glad, however, I would ask that you refrain from calling those who serve you 'underlings' in my presence it is demeaning to them and I will not stand for the mistreatment." his voice was calm as he spoke but it still held the air of authority.
He further listened as he himself wouldn't follow through due to his father telling him to show him the utmost respect "Kazuchou, do you not realize the hypocrisy of your words?" he would as taking a sip of his water before placing it down "You have been told to treat me with the utmost respect by your family head, I have told you what I view as respectful for myself and my family and yet you are telling me you are going to disrespect my wishes because you do not view it as respectful." he said his voice never changing in tone from what he had said previously "If I was on your estate I would follow the rules of my host and if I didn't I would fully expect to be told to leave." he made his thoughts known on the matter.
"As such, I do hope you will respect my wishes and not call me Lord, sir or anything other than my name or I will be left with no choice but to ask you to leave." he said showing that it was as simple as that to him. He would follow through too sending a message to the Lord Vangarde as to why such actions had been taken. He would also state that he would decline another guest from his household for a while due to the disrespect shown by his son and not wanting a repeat performance. "They were once a great house but the adults didn't keep control and the children started running the institution." he said his voice remained calm, he already foresaw their fall coming after meeting their would-be heir. "From what I have been told, it was all because Taiyo was being removed from heir and his sister was being given her rightful place. The entitlement." he shook his head a little.
He had no idea if this was at all true but he did know that Taiyo hit every trope of a class clown and would have brought shame eventually. He was an embarrassment and clearly not ready for the burden that was being put on his shoulders, the fact he lashed out when it was removed proved as such. "I just thought he would have ended up disowned but I was proven wrong." it was all politics and for as powerful as the family once was they had no political presence which is never a good thing for a noble house. "My household is very relaxed compared to most as you have likely already ascertained, you have most likely also noticed that there is a structure that everyone abides by and thus we have a strong tranquil household." It really was that simple he treated those in his employ with respect and taught them the rules, they returned the respect and obeyed the rules.
"I can understand being protective of one's estate, very rarely does anyone get on this estate without me looking into them." he confessed, he honestly didn't care who knew about such a trivial matter. "I have my family and staff to protect and their safety is paramount to me." it wasn't that complex, he seemed like a simple man just going through the motions expected of him at the end of the day. He knew this was an odd outlook to many but he understood nobility was nothing without those who serve them, it was a pity many didn't realize the same. "Call me other than my name again Kazuchou and you will be leaving my home right now." his voice was still calm but there was a sharpness to it showing that he would follow through.
"My household isn't disrupted and I am not inconvenienced." he said flicking his hand a little as to tell him not to worry about trivial things. "My schedule often changes when my household is entertaining, that is what it means to host; besides given my profession as a magic knight it's not like it is always stable." he said with a small smile, it was something he understood when he was younger and it so he was prepared for the challenges of having to adapt. "It depends on the family and their dynamic." he said thoughtfully "I do not find it overly daunting to tend to matters of my family nor of state, I was taught and prepared to deal with both." It was just a simple fact that he believed all heirs should have to deal with. It was true he was being more lenient is his cousin but he didn't believe she was yet ready for such responsibilities or worries.
"I would be an inconsiderate host if I only saw guests at meals. No, I properly entertain my guests." he had been taught how to be a good host and he would offer full hospitality while he was there for however long or short that may be. Hania simply stood sighing "Please prepare to leave after your meal, I will not have my wishes disrespected in my home." his tone showed he wasn't attempting to be mean about it but he had had enough. "Friends are gained over time as they learn about each other and respect each other. This is our first time truly meeting and you are rubbing me up the wrong way." it was just how he saw it currently, the young lesser royal wasn't trying to be mean but friendship truly was something he believed needed to be earned.
It was then he heard his words and sighed "I am not looking for nor do I need your forgiveness or for you to 'overlook' me not being in my foyer when you arrived." he said his tone slightly colder "I have staff that meet my guests as I am often busy dealing with things, this is why they are hired and part of their jobs." he shook his head "I have yet to meet any noble who stands waiting for their guests to arrive for two simple reasons. They have other things that require their attention and that their guest could be delayed or even show up earlier than expected." he explained to him "Did you honestly expect me to stand in my foyer from the moment I woke until you turned up like I was your personal servant or pet who had nothing better to do? Because this is the entitled attitude you are portraying and I will be informing your father of such." even though calm it was clear that the ice mage was annoyed due to his wording.
"Yes, I cooked the meal that you will be served. Yes, I do indeed have chefs that are paid very well to cook." he said turning to look out the window "I've learned how to balance things in my life, besides, I don't eat things I haven't cooked personally and on the rare occasion I do, I insist on watching it be made." It was clear he was a cautious man, but it had more to do with his diet than his being a fussy eater. "I tend to cook for myself, my cousin Amaya Leon who was the lion mana beast you saw and the ducks he sees as family." he said "I then cook for my guests as well as I believe it's the right thing to do as a host." He took great care when he was a host to show his guests the same hospitality he himself would expect to receive if he ever visited their home.
