“Tssk.. ordering me around are we? Fine, I’ll entertain the notion for now, but only because you’re right. Now then, it’s time for you side-characters to back up the MC!”
Jokingly mocking the two other mages while flashing a peace sign and showing a toothy wide grin, Gawain waited for the two of them to begin assaulting the shadow creatures as hard and on as many fronts as they possibly could. Between hand to hand assaults in melee range and cards imbued with lightning magic crashing about, it was quite clear that if there was ever a moment for him to begin his own assault, it would be now. Making the fullest use of the upheaval taking place with the lightning mage and the vermillion, Gawain rushed forward as fast as his feet could take him. While some might consider this kind of bull rush to be full of holes in terms of defense, there was currently no such thing when it came to the way in which he fought. Sure, his own hand to hand combat was crappy at best when going by magically enhanced standards, which was exactly why he wanted to fight the vermillion.
Seeing how it was done here today was a big help towards his own personal growth, as well as adapting to how one might go about incorporating mana into being a more powerful hand to hand combatant, but actually experiencing it in a fight was an entirely different story. Even if he could hold his own in a battle where one weapon would clash against another weapon of equal making, the fact that his muscles were not yet on a level where he would be able to win a fist fight against those with increased physique meant he would sooner or later be required to depend on physical reinforcement magic. The kind of magic that would have been incredibly useful in this particular situation, had he been able to access it. Which clearly he didn’t. Knowing that his own growth had thus far been triggered by thrusting himself into difficult situations where overcoming his past self was the only way to win or survive, fighting mage that seemed to thrive in close quarters was a logical step to take.
But that didn’t matter now. What mattered was that he took out this beast, and he already had just the way to do it, though it was riding entirely on the notion that these two mages would be able to hold their own.
Getting this close to the beast was perhaps a dangerous strategy, though the way he saw it, there was very little it could truly do against the repulsive force of his air pressure magic. If it lunged, he would just abort the attack he had planned and make for a more defensive style attack instead in order to knock the beast prone so his initial plan could be set up as a secondary blow. That way, the first plan would still be executed just as planned. His magic was rather clever like that. Getting in close, the beast performed a rather simple attack, moving one step forward while launching its maw towards the approaching mage with the intent of biting him in half. But without any kind of magical backing and none of the shades there to aid it by coming to its defense or bring about a distraction, it was destined to fail from the start. Performing a barrel roll to the side, the large teeth missed, instead biting a chunk out of the stonework where he had just been a split-second ago.
While his speed had been decreased by using his Ki, as well as by the bone-chilling cold in the room, he still had the upper hand when it came to making a solid prediction as to when and where the attack against him would land. Because of it, Gawain was able to refrain from switching up his original idea for a spell, and now had the completely unprotected side of the wolf to aim for. As he rolled across the floor, he extended his arm and pointed the palm of his hand towards the large wolf. Before he even finished rolling himself to safety and back on his feet, his other hand formed a half ox seal, releasing a powerful blast of concussive force from his person that launched itself against the wolf. Lifting it off of its feet ever so slightly as it got thrown against a stone pillar, the pillar itself cracked as the ceiling shook. Knocking the beast unconscious against the master-crafted stonework, it had effectively been taken out of the running.
While he hadn’t killed the beast, it wouldn’t be able to fight them anymore. And since it did not seem to be an undead creature but rather a gargantuan mana beast of some sort, maybe there was a chance that it might be relocated at some point to be given a new shot at life. Because as it were, anything seemed better than to have to live in these corridors until it died of old age.

Big Wolf knocked out
Name of Spell: Force
Elemental Type: Air Pressure
Rank & Spell Type: Senior | Attack Creation
Range & Speed: 80m | 45 m/s
Mana Cost: 30 | 15
Stats Effected: -
Applicable Perks: Overpowered | Quick Shot
Description: By extending the left hand and pointing an open palm (stop motion) and holding a half-ox sign with the right hand, Gawain's eyes flare up with a wispy green hue as a means of initiating the spell and as a vocal point for the release of mana, a blast of wind is released into the chosen direction roughly nine meters wide and tall. Aiming to envelop the target and blasting them and everything else caught up in the blast back, the spell uses a fairly powerful knockback effect capable of tossing targets back up to thirteen meters + an additional 5 meters for every 10 Power. The attack itself is potentially lethal upon direct hits, capable of breaking bones and can easily tear through non-magical structures, dealing Senior rank damage. To those without at least 30 sensory, this spell will be invisible, appearing as a flat wispy green square to others.
