[attr="class","text"] [attr="class","header"]Jiao [break]Liang A medicine can be a poison in disguise [attr="class","header"]Appearance
Jiao stands at a very average height of five foot two inches tall, she is quite petite and lithe thanks to dancing but her body is subtly toned showing she takes good care of herself. She has long black hair that stops just by her knees that she doesn't tie back unless doing work but even then it is quite loose, when she wears hair ornaments they are simple and usually floral in nature. She has striking jade eyes, however, under certain lights they strangely appear a fierce golden amber. On her left wrist, she wears a jade bracelet that was once her mother's before her passing and so she refuses to remove it. She does wear earrings that vary but usually, they are tassels and match whatever colour hanfu she may be wearing at the time. Her clothing consists of very simple hanfu with a little floral embroidery that are usually pink, lavender, green, blue, white or red in nature or some combination of these colours, although, she has been known to wear others on occasion. [attr="class","header"]Personality Jiao is a dedicated young woman to her profession, she is always looking to better herself, the medicines that she makes and those around her. She is quite a shy young woman and it shows in her mannerisms as she doesn't speak very loudly or even stutters, it isn't uncommon to see her hide behind someone she trusts or even something like a bookshelf due to it. That being said when she does get to know someone she opens up to them and does what she can to help them when they are in trouble, of course, because of this it has also gotten her into some trouble here and there for trusting the wrong person. It is because of her sweet nature she comes off as naive and somewhat gullible so her father got her a guardian who helps keep her protected. She honestly enjoys listening to people singing, playing music and when they tell stories, it makes her feel more connected not only to the past but the people of the here and now. [attr="class","header"]History Jiao isn't from any sort of noble family, however, she did come from an affluent common family with traditional values within her homeland. Her family there are somewhat well-known for being medical practitioners and apothecaries. Though they had wealth they lived modestly refusing to allow their successes to go to their heads. She remembered a story her father told her of one of her ancestors who did such a thing, a prince perished and with it so did that ancestor for failing to deliver on what he said. She had no idea if it was true or just a story that adults used to scare their youth into not getting an ego and stagnating, regardless of the truth it always seemed to work as everyone took the lesson that was being taught to them. It may have been for that reason she was so diligent when it came to caring for the medical plants and the medicine she created. Even though her father was strict, the household was filled with love and joy, she had everything any child could hope for until one day an awful thing happened. Her mother died suddenly, at first her father was believed to have poisoned her as she was healthy but soon enough a note was found showing the demons her mother had been hiding and what had caused her to take the actions she did. It broke the family, and the happy and outgoing Jiao became more introverted and over time became quite timid. four years later when she had turned ten her father once again found love, she didn't like the woman as it wasn't her mother. It didn't help that she was attempting to push a bond with her at first but her father put an end to that as soon as he found out. Over time and many talks with her father, she began to mature and realise that her father deserved to be happy and have love once more in his life. Eventually, she reached out to the woman that her father had now married and attempted to make a bond, she was respectful in saying that she already had one mother which made the woman angry and hit her. She hadn't even finished speaking her sentence, when her father came in to see what had happened after hearing the ruckas his wife spun a story about how she was being disrespectful, her father never even listened to her side of the story and she was forced to apologise. She did without argument but she now wondered why her father hated her so that he wouldn't listen to her, one night she heard the woman speaking to another but this time she had been smart. She kept her guardian near who had heard every word of what this woman's true nature was. It turned out that she didn't love her father and was only with him for the money and wealth. The woman blabbed about how she was planning to get rid of Jiao's father like she did her mother and sell Jiao off to a pleasure district when she was of age so she could keep the wealth of the family. Her guard instructed her to go to bed, that he would be along shortly. She was reluctant but did as she was told, she was frightened about losing her father and then the fate that awaited her. She had no idea why but she drifted off very quickly and when she woke the woman was gone. She asked what had happened but she was told the woman was a con artist and was now on the run. She had no idea if that was indeed the truth but after what had happened to her since she was hit she wasn't going to question it. Her father swore he would never get married again but he did take a bed partner every now and then, she understood he had needs, and eventually, there was one with whom she bonded. It felt natural and her father seemed to like her very much too she could see a bond between them and actually insisted they get married. It took time but it felt like her family was whole once more and this put her at ease. She worked hard on her education and her new mother taught her the duties that any young lady would need to be a mother and wife. She understood that this would be important in time and so listened and tried to get better. Time moved on, and many fathers came in the hopes of betrothing their sons to Jiao but her father politely declined them all. Some were wealthy or had power and he knew it would be an honour and do great good to his own family but it never felt right to him. He wanted his daughter to experience life a little before she had to settle down to be a devoted mother and wife. This was increasingly more important as she was coming of age, she could end up taking part in the imperial selection process. This was something he didn't want. As much as it hurt him and his wife, they came up with a plan. They sent Jiao to Clover under the pretences that she was to learn about medical practices and such there, they informed her that her guard would be going with her as he could not only keep her safe but act as a translator as she didn't understand the language at all. After some tearful arguing things were set in stone and she now started a new chapter of her life in Clover awaiting the day she could return home to settle down and marry. [attr="class","header"]Magic
MAGIC DESCRIPTION: Although timid in nature this isn't always reflected in Jiao's magic, she is a quick offensive mage who tends to keep to single-target spells as she doesn't want to create collateral damage. She uses her attack creation for long-range bursts while creating weapons when she is within melee range allowing her to be versatile and adapt to the situation that she's in. There is an almost hidden aspect to her magic as it seems a lot of the time she won't do damage, instead, she may give that up and instead inflict her opponents with any number of weaknesses if it benefits the situation, she manages to do this due to harnessing hex and curse.
