At the request of his mother, Jevi had accepted to look into some kind of rumor surrounding the town of Sosshi. As it so happened, he’d be working together with Hinota once more to investigate what had really happened, because it was his mother who had asked them on account of them having solved another mystery before. The elf had mixed feelings about the day, because on the one hand he was extremely happy to be working together with Hinota, but on the other hand he knew she was not going to be all too comfortable around him still. Ever since their first mission, where he had overstepped his boundaries and confessed how he felt about her, things had been rather confusing for the both of them. Jevi had since learned more of her culture, and while he was by no means an expert he understood better why he had put her so on edge. She wasn’t allowed to choose her partner, and on top of that she obviously was already betrothed to another. Him confessing his feelings to her was something she couldn’t deal with, and Jevi was certainly not going to attempt to make it worse. He was content with having Hinota as a friend and admiring her from a distance. As long as she was happy, he could be happy too. Those feelings should eventually fade…right?
[break][break]
While he was thinking about all of these things, he had already made his way to Sosshi and had put his horse in the stable near the inn. He had shown up quite a bit early, mostly to get out of the house. His father had been eerily calm, and it unnerved him. Ever since Hinota’s visit he had been so quiet and had left Jevi alone for the most part. Almost as if he had given up on controlling Jevi, but of course he knew better than that. There was no way he would give up so quickly, but as much as he tried he couldn’t figure out what his father was scheming. Whatever it was, it couldn’t be good, and he needed to be ready whenever his father enacted his plans. Things with his mother had been great, though, as they were both happy to spend time with each other again. Jevi made sure to drink some tea with her every single day in between his trainings, and he was finally able to enjoy her cooking again as well. That alone made the stress surrounding his father worth it.
[break][break]
As he put his horse away, Jevi stroked its manes and smiled softly. “Now you stay here and be good, alright girl? I’ll be back soon enough.” The horse nudged his head, making Jevi chuckle before he nuzzled her back. “I know, Jasmine, I missed you too. But I promise this time I won’t be gone for so long.” He stroked her snout gently and made sure there was plenty of water and hay for his precious horse. The white mare seemed content with the answer, for as much as it could understand Jevi, but she was happy to have her owner back again and being taken out for rides. “Bye for now~.” He smiled and waved Jasmine goodbye, leaving the stables to wait for Hinota outside the inn of Sosshi. This was the most central part of the city, and from here they’d have to go find the survivor of this supposed monster’s attack. His name was Iaric, a merchant in town. No wonder the merchant his mother spoke to had been so distraught.
[break][break]
Once Hinota arrived at their destination, Jevi would place his right hand over his heart as he usually did and bow to her. “Good morning, Lady Hinota. How was your trip?” While he wished he could be more informal with her, he was still on his best behavior and did not want to make her feel uncomfortable. Yes, he had feelings for the girl, but it’s not like he could or should act on them. He was aware of this, and he was more than capable of keeping his personal feelings away from their professional work. This might be a bit more troublesome when it comes to visiting each other and seeing each other in a more informal settings, but for now he’d manage. If he wanted to maintain a friendly relationship with her, he’d simply have to bare it. “I’ve asked around, but apparently Iaric can be found in his store. I suggest we go there in order to get some details so we know what we’re looking for.” If Hinota had a better idea, or already had information he didn’t have, then he’d gladly follow her lead. She still outranked him, after all, and he was naught but her sword on missions like these so she didn’t have to break her passivistic ways.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] It had been a few days since the meeting at the Suru estate, Jevi's mother had spoken of a rumour that had been heard coming from Sosshi. It had been rather concerning, to say the least, they could have set off the same day but the floral mage wanted Jevi to spend some much-needed time bonding with his mother after his three-year absence. The floral mage on the other hand went to work to find out some research to find out what was going on, the pickings had been slim, but there had been a survivor so she understood that this would need to be their first port of call. Once she had the information she gave the time and date they should meet, she even told him not to worry if he was a little late as she wasn't a slave driver. [break][break] Even though he didn't know her well he would be able to tell the brush strokes of the letter weren't hers. She was afraid of doing something her family disapproved of and then having to go home, it never ended well for her and this time was no different. The news of her captaincy had spread like wildfire, her father and mother were not impressed, to say the least. They demanded that she retire and become a good daughter and become a wife and mother. She refused. She had to, it would only bring eyes to them especially after she just gained her current position. This was not what her father wanted to hear and just as on the day she came home wearing a Golden Dawn mantle she was beaten. She could have protected herself but she didn't, knowing it would just bring his ire towards her further and if that happened she would end up dead. [break][break] By the end of it, she was lying in a glistening crimson puddle on the floor unmoving and barely breathing but her father didn't care as he walked right past her, she heard him say something but it was as if he was speaking through water. She laid like that for what felt like an eternity. Her body screamed at her in pain eventually it caused her to pass out. Once she awoke she was back in her palace and was in her bed. She got up and winced in pain "Wh... what happened?" she would ask trying to make sense of things. "You've been asleep for several days but seems your internal clock is still working as perfectly as ever princess." Luli stated "It's the day you are to meet Lord Suru at Sosshi, Junjie is preparing the carriage but are you sure you will be well enough to do this?" the woman would ask in concern. [break][break] She smiled weakly and nodded "It seems my father had mercy on me and healed me when he calmed, I'm thankful." she said Luli wanted to say something but she respected her brother's wishes and remained quiet on the matter of who healed her. Helping her out of bed Luli helped her wash, bathe, dress, do her hair and makeup before escorting her to her carriage. "Junjie are you escorting me again?" she would ask not sure what was going on "We both are, at least until the wannabe swordsman is with you, then we intend to look around Sosshi as there is a new cake place opening we wish to try." he communicated. Hino sighed, she didn't understand why Junjie wanted to speak so poorly on Jevi but she understood he had his reasons and it wasn't worth getting into a fight with him over it. [break][break] "Just be nice when you see him" she said "I won't promise anything, but my tone will at least be respectful." he said helping her into her carriage before helping his sister in. He moved into the carriage as well before ending in his own spot thinking. Hinota's carriage was more like a bedroom on wheels as it was spacious and everything she needed was there. It had taken a while and where she arrived a little early she moved around the village in the hopes to find Jevi just in case he had arrived before her given how Hania was in regards to time. Soon enough he had arrived and after tending to his horse went to the arranged meeting place. The trio bowed to him "Good morning Lord Suru. This is the head of my maids Luli and you know Junjie." she said with a polite tone. [break][break] "Still using oversized butter knives?" he would ask standing up, Hinota just looked mortified. "Enjoy your day, might you pay a visit to Mister laric and ask him to meet us at the small cafe at the south of the village." she said "Yes your highness." they said in unison while bowing and going to do their task "Please follow me, Mister laric will join us shortly." she said moving to the small cafe and ordering them both some juice to enjoy while they awaited the survivor of the last attack.

Kikka is a town known to be the defensive foot-hold for the Clover Kingdom, it is the town that sits in the grey area of what could be considered the noble region and the common region. It is due to this that there is a diverse range of people and backgrounds that called this place home. [break][break] A young fire mage found himself getting into trouble when he decided to steal some vegetables from a garden of jewellers. The mother of the family was the one that caught him and even told the boy and his mother that they just needed to ask due to them having more than enough. It was the beginning of a new bond between the family and the fire mage. [break][break] Over time the boy grew and where he was wanting to learn the next flashy fire move from the former purple orca. She would tell him that he needed to learn how to walk before he tried to run or those he cared about would get burned by those same flames that treasured so much. Of course, being young he didn't understand what she was getting at. [break][break] The woman's husband attempted to teach the street smart and somewhat rough male his craft. He, of course, got bored real quickly because crafting jewellery was a slow process that often was very detail orientated. Still, the man tried. On the day the fire mage was scheduled to leave Kikka for the exams the man called the young mage into his workshop. [break][break] He was just finishing up a double ring set and told him to put every wish and promise he could into a single flame and release it onto the ring. Somewhat sceptical the fire mage did what he was asked and thought it was for some sort of trinket for the woman that had helped him grow. The man placed the ring into a box and handed it to the budding mage. [break][break] "Valo, we see you as our son and we are proud to see the man you've grown into. You've helped create something that is unique and special, keep it with you and give it to someone that you believe deserves what you put into it." [break][break] The now young man gave bravado with his normal attitude but took the ring. He held onto it for three years until something terrible happened. The family that he had loved so much was taken from him. The one that had seen him at his most vulnerable and had helped him through the grief was a young woman. A woman who themselves couldn't fight due to their beliefs. [break][break] He remembered the ring from all those years ago and offered it to her, telling her if she was ever in danger just to call him and he'd come running.

The letter Hinota had sent him with the date and time of them meeting in Sosshi had been looked over numerous times by Jevi. He had not known her for long, and yet something felt off about the brush strokes used to write the letter. They didn’t feel like Hinota’s. It was a point of interest, but then again she was a princess and she may very well have had someone write it for her as she dictated them what to put in the letter. That wasn’t all too uncommon, so perhaps he was just looking into things too much? It was no use being paranoid about it either way, as that would get him nowhere. Due to Hania, Jevi had learned that being on time meant being late, and he found himself quickly taking to that lesson, so even today he arrived quite a bit earlier than the agreed upon time. It was a good thing too, because as he put away his horse Jasmine the creature wasn’t all too happy about him leaving her alone again. It didn’t take long to soothe her, though, as Jevi knew just how to care for her even after having been gone for three years. Once he was sure Jasmine was comfortable, Jevi went to the front of the inn and waited outside for Hinota to be there.
[break][break]
As expected, Hinota was early too as the carriage rode up. It was a rather large one, but once again he had to remember who he was dealing with here. He bowed to all three of them, greeting them warmly as he was glad to see all of them again. As Hinota introduced the head of her maids as Luli, Jevi gave her a soft smile and another slight bow. “Nice to meet you, Lali.” Though then she mentioned Junjie, and there was fire in his eyes as the last time at his own estate he had insulted his swordmanship, his tutors and most egregiously his swords. And just like that Junjie did it again, not even greeting him as he merely asked if he was still using butter knives. “Lord Junjie, I have decided to take you up on your offer to train me. I cannot let you insult me without showing me exactly what is wrong with my swordmanship, and if there’s a chance of me becoming better than I’ll gladly take it.” While he was insulted, he was mostly fired up to improve and show his worth. If he wanted to become the captain of the Crimson Lions then he needed to improve more, and more, and more. This was a great opportunity to do so. “So whenever you have the time, I’ll be in your care.” Regardless of his pride, Jevi gave Junjie another bow to show his sincerity and gratefulness. Junjie had seen something, and he wanted to find out what it was.
[break][break]
Jevi had been so focused on Junjie, that he had not even noticed Hinota’s mortified look upon Junjie insulting his swords. The elf was determined and fired up to train harder than ever, and since he no longer had any tutors he had to do it by himself. The several sword masters that Daiki had hired for him since he was a mere child were all already surpassed, claiming they had nothing left to teach him. Yet, Junije believed his swordsmanship to be sloppy and called his tutors bad. If that really was true, then he needed to find out what Junjie had seen and what the man could teach him. Jevi didn’t dare underestimate the man, as he had been appointed as Hinota’s bodyguard. He knew that Junjie was not just talk, and that just excited him even more. The man did not speak much, but when he did he knew how to hit the right buttons to get Jevi riled up. “Truth be told, I’m excited to have another master to teach me. I haven’t had one for a couple years now, as the ones my father had hired all said they had nothing left to teach me. If they truly were bad as you said, then I hope you can show me the skills that I currently lack.” His swordsmanship was his pride, and it was the one thing he had taken seriously throughout his childhood alongside horse riding. The prospect of improving it further was nothing less than exciting for the elf.
[break][break]
Realizing he had been conversing with Junjie for a bit longer than he had expected to, he gave Hinota an apologetic smile as she dismissed Junjie and Lali. Though Jevi had not forgotten what Junjie had said. He couldn’t know who was lurking in the shadows and seeing everything, and he figured that they had a way to still keep an eye on them. So that meant he had to do even better if there were a monster today, and show off the skills he possessed. “It would be my pleasure, Lady Hinota.” Jevi smiled softly and followed along with her, walking by her side and taking a seat with her at a table in the café. He did not complain about the juice being ordered for him, as for one he enjoyed juice and for two he didn’t want to be rude to Hinota or the wait staff. “I wonder what kind of monster it could have been…” Jevi spoke softly, moving his hand to his chin as he tried to envision what they were up against. Was it going to be a monster like the one they had fought near the edge of the Witch’s Forest? “I’ll tell ya what kinda monster it was, lad.” A man stumbled a little, joining them at the table. He had recognized them easily, and Jevi looked over at the man curiously before he smiled and stood up to help him get seated. “You must be mister Iaric?”. “Aye lad, it’s good ta see the Magic Knights are finally takin’ this seriously.”
[break][break]
Jevi took his seat once more, seeing that man was burdened by this monster and the rumors surrounding it. He had been the only survivor on all accounts, so he might feel survivor’s guilt and general fear about the creature. “I’m deeply sorry no one has looked into it sooner, but I promise we’ll handle it as quickly as we can. What can you tell us from your encounter?” Hopefully Hinota did not mind him taking the lead in the conversation, but Jevi had spent three years amongst commoners and had no issue connecting with them. “Twas similar to a bull, lad, but it stood on two legs like us. A real brute, even wielded an axe. Like an unholy combination of beast and man. Do not underestimate it, laddy, even though it may be of a smaller size. It is vicious and strong.” Jevi gave the man a sympathetic smile, seeing the fear in the man’s eyes. He moved his hand to the man’s shoulder, resting it there and giving the man a supporting, gentle squeeze. “We’ll be careful, you have my word, and we won’t return without ensuring the safety of Sosshi.” The man let out a soft sigh, nodding to Jevi’s words. “Would you like a drink, it will be on me. Consider it a thank you for the information.” The elf shot the man a light grin, making the man chuckle. “A real way with words this one has, eh Lady? Thank ya, lad, I’ll take ya up on that offer.” Jevi smiled and waved over a waitress, letting the man order his drink as he drank his juice before they would leave. Of course, he would not leave the table until Hinota would, as she might have some questions of her own.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] It wasn't that the young woman had someone else write her letter by choice but due to her injuries she wasn't able to, in her rest, she spoke of the mission that she and Jevi were to undertake and so Luli wrote the letter under her brother's instruction. She might have been able to make medicine but Junjie knew how long she would need after that kind of beating to wake even after healing. His calculations had been correct and she woke the same day that she was due to meet with Jevi. It didn't sit right with Luli that Junjie allowed their lady's abuser to take the credit for healing her when both times he had left her for dead, she knew if it wasn't for her brother she would be dead but still he refused to correct her. He didn't want to disrupt the balance of their home. [break][break] She was helped to get ready, it was clear her body though healed still felt sore. Once she was she was helped into her carriage with Luli and Junjie following closely afterwards. She remained silent the entire way there when she was spoken to she answered but she was withdrawn for the most part. Usually, she would read or do embroidery but she just sat quietly. It worried both of her retainers but given the trauma that she had gone through recently, it wasn't like they could blame her for how she was acting now. They just hoped that in time it was something that would resolve itself but they weren't completely sure about that as this had been the second time she had received such a beating in regards to her decisions as a magic knight. Junjie was already making an exit plan for her as there wouldn't be a third time. [break][break] Once they arrived she walked around looking for Jevi, she hadn't seen him until she was about to do her second walk around. She smiled seeing the kind of bond he had with his horse. Once he was ready the trio greeted him and she introduced her matron although she didn't say such a thing but rather she was the head of her maids. It was easier than explaining what a matron was considering the Western meaning of it. He greeted Luli in return but got her name wrong "My name is Luli not Lali." she said softly correcting him. Her name wasn't difficult but it seemed he was having a hard time of it. Junjie on the other hand took it upon himself to ask if the swordsman was still using butter knives. [break][break] Hinota was mortified at the question and could see that the swordsman felt insulted but before she could get Junjie to apologise it seemed as if Jevi would give an answer to the offer posed at his family's estate. He accepted Junjie to be his tutor but in doing so he hadn't realized what he had opened himself up to. "Very well, we will start soon after you return from this task." he said simply showing he wouldn't have any time to rest between the mission and the first lesson he would be given. "If at any time you complain, I feel like you are not giving it your all or say that you quit then we will part ways as I refuse to waste my time." he was serious about this and it was heard in his tone. Both women remained quiet as the men talked, as Jevi bowed again Junjie would return it with his own. [break][break] Soon after this was done Hinota dismissed the two retainers but requested that they go to get the survivor to meet them at the cafe. They nodded and after a final bow on both sides, she requested Jevi come with her. They ended up at the case where the floral mage ordered them both some juice while they waited. She believed it was the best thing to have while waiting as they could finish it quickly if needed. Soon enough however the merchant joined them. Standing Hinota bowed before once again taking her seat. As the man spoke her brow furrowed "I apologise for this taking so long mister Iaric, I can assure you that we will prevent the threat from continuing its actions." Her tone was soft but clearly upset that this hadn't been dealt with soon or even been seen as a high enough priority to be dealt with by the magic knights. [break][break] She then went quiet as the man spoke of what the monster looked like. The man said it looked like a bull and yet stood tall on two legs like any of them. That it wielded and axe and was quite the brute as though it seemed smaller in stature it was strong and vicious. "It sounds like you had an interaction with a minotaur." she said thoughtfully, they were often depicted in lore but for them to act like this seemed off compared to what little knowledge she had. Jevi had offered the man a drink that he would pay for as thanks for the information "Might you be able to direct us to where we can encounter this minotaur?" she would ask him. Iaric nodded and pointed to the east. "Over there lass." he said, the floral mage stood and bowed "Thank you so much for your aid." her voice polite. She would wait for Jevi to be done with what he was doing before heading towards the area that was pointed out to them

When Jevi met up with the trio of Hinota, Junjie and Luli his attention was very much with the words Junjie had spoken the last time they had met. It caused him to mess up regarding Luli, and he quickly gave her a deep, apologetic bow when she corrected him. "My sincerest apologies, Luli, I must have not heard Lady Hinota correctly. Please forgive me." He was genuinely remorseful, which was clear from both his tone and demeanor. It wasn't something big to get hung up on, but as he attempted his best to be a polite man he felt he had failed himself and Luli. Nonetheless, there was a more urgent matter for Jevi to attend to, as Junjie once more insulted his swords and swordsmanship. Naturally this hurt his pride, as this was the one thing that he had made his life revolve around. He didn't know any better than being a swordsman and had been training since he was about five years old. Even though he was hurt, his curiosity had also been piqued by Junjie's comments, and he wanted to learn just what it was that he currently lacked according to the man. He was aware his magic needed work, but when it came to skill, he was fairly confident.
[break][break]
Junjie seemed to be on board with the idea of training him, telling Jevi that they would start soon after this mission had been concluded. He also warned Jevi that if there was any complaining, half-assed work, or quitting entirely then they would part ways. The bodyguard refused to waste his time, and Jevi understood as much. "Naturally, Master Junjie." The elf gave him another formal bow, accepting Junjie as his tutor for the upcoming time in order to improve himself. It was an exciting prospect to learn more, and he was still intrigued to learn what exactly he needed to improve on in Junjie's opinion. He had no doubt the man was incredibly skilled, so he needed to see how he measured up to him and what he could get out of this training with him.
[break][break]
From there, Hinota dismissed her retainers and they got to work. Mister Iaric was going to meet them in the inn, and so they sat down at a table with Hinota ordering juice for them. The man walked in shortly after and joined them with Jevi helping him to take a seat. He was still struggling with some injuries it seemed, and the fear within the man was quite apparent to Jevi. It was troubling to hear that the Magic Knights had not taken this rumor more seriously sooner, and both Jevi and Hinota apologized for this. The man seemed to be receptive to their apology, not blaming them personally and filling them in on the monsters he had seen. Hinota believed them to be minotaurs, and Jevi fully agreed with that assumption. The description was too spot on, though their behavior was rather odd. "Aye, is that what they're called?" Iaric didn't seem to care much either way, just wanting the beasts gone and dealt with so him and others wouldn't be attacked anymore. Hinota asked for directions, and Jevi offered the man a drink for his help which Iaric glady accepted.
[break][break]
The two would get up from the table now that they had the information they needed, and Jevi gave the man a gentle pat on the back. "Enjoy your drink, hopefully we'll be back quickly with good news to share." Iaric nodded, a smile on his face as he had been calmed down by the two Magic Knights and felt like they were going to stick to their word. "Take care, both of ya." He raised his glass to bid them farewell, and Jevi would walk out of the café together with Hinota. "Do you think the minotaur is staying close to Sosshi?" The elf wondered out loud as they walked towards the area that Iaric had pointed them to. "I wonder why they're so aggressive, that is not their regular behavior is it?" He could be wrong, but he believed the minotaurs generally stayed away from humans and did their own thing. To hear that one or more had committed several attacks was not something he had expected. He couldn't help but steal a glance of her every once in a while. The dress she wore was gorgeous, but he tried his best not to pay too much attention to it, as difficult as it was for him.
[break][break]
There was something he'd rather discuss with Hinota now before they'd actually encounter the minotaur. Given her passivistic ways, he knew that she did not like when creatures were harmed let alone killed. Now, he was fine with knocking them out and having them taken in, but if these minotaurs had really become this violent then letting them live may not be an option. "Before we find them, would you prefer me to knock them out instead of outright taking them out? I'd be happy to follow your lead, so long as the safety of civilians is also ensured." Jevi would gladly follow Hinota's ways whenever it was possible, as he too preferred to not kill unless it was absolutely necessary. It was always a tough call to make, and as a future captain this was a great learning moment for him too. "As a captain, where do you draw the line? I'm asking to get a better understanding of it myself, which should be helpful once I actually gain captaincy." To Jevi it was not a matter of if, it was a matter of when. He had his mind set on it, and he'd do everything in his power to make it happen. The training with Junjie was part of that.
[break][break]
As the duo of magic knights left the city of Sosshi, they'd quickly find the area that Iaric had spoken of. There was indeed a minotaur there, two in fact. They had quickly set their sights on Jevi and Hinota, with one preparing his axe and immediately charging in towards them. Jevi wasted no time and reached his left hand over to his right hip near his grimoire, looking like he grabbed something when his longsword materialized. The icy wisps danced across the slightly brittle looking blade, and for the first time Jevi was actually upset with the way the sword looked after Junjie calling them butter knives. He'd need to improve on that aspect as well, but for now he'd focus on the task at hand. Since he was Hinota's sword, he'd make sure to hold them off the best he could.
[break][break]
The first minotaur reached him, but Jevi was quite a bit faster and stronger as well. He had moved his longsword to his main hand, holding it in his right as he confidently blocked the overhead axe strike from the minotaur. It was brutish, all strength and no finesse, so Jevi slid his long sword up the axe's handle to hook it behind the metal part, and with one smooth movement he disarmed the first minotaur confusing it. The second was heading towards Hinota, but Jevi was not about to let it get through his line of defense. With a swift step to his side and speed that was double that of the minotaur he evaded its swipe before returning the favor with a quick slash of his own, breaking this one's axe in half. "If you could just calm down then we won't have to hurt you." He spoke calmly, hoping that it would somehow work, but he doubted that it would. In either case, he stayed between Hinota and the minotaurs, ensuring they could not get to her even though she'd be more than capable of handling them herself. It was a matter of not making her fight, not a matter of protecting her.

The sword itself appears to be 35 inches (88.9 cm) made out of steel and is double-bladed with a tarnished bronze hollow ground cross section and pommel. The sword can deal physical damage at junior rank although it will have magical backing that allows for it to give those struck minor frostbite, if a person is hit with the sword they will find themselves being knocked back by 2m +5m for every 10 power that they possess, they may also decide to give the sword over to another person, the sword may also be thrown as a projectile with a new one forming the following round.
Due to the lunar year just passing, a craftsman in the town of Hage teaching a new class of apprentices decided to make it a class project. They were to make small trinkets out of oak that look like oxen as with all learners things didn't go as planned and they ended up making derpy looking oxen. The shopkeeper decided to buy everything as she found out that all the proceeds were going to help with the rebuilding of Kikka.[break]
Stats Affected: 25% junior buff to strength[break]
Description:[break]
The holder of this small trinket seems to hold the strength of an oxen allowing them to deal a bit more damage than is normal. Unlike normal items this item seems to grow in strength the stronger the bond it has with the owner much like a spirit or relic allowing this to be trained up to a grand ability. Once bought it is bound to the account it is on and can't be sold back to the store.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Luli didn't take offence that he had misspoken her name as her twin brother had managed to get under the younger male's skin by insulting him as a swordsman and his blades. "I wouldn't mind my brother, my lord, right now he sees you as a cloud. All fluff and no substance." she explained, her voice being polite. "I believe that he might be selling your abilities a bit high but he knows you better than I." it was clear that her tongue was just as sharp as her brothers and that she wasn't just simply a maid. Hinota couldn't help but sigh at how the pair had been so far, she felt it shone her in a terrible light as they were her servants. She made a note to apologise when they were alone, the last thing she wanted was to be seen as incompetent or unable to control her servants. [break][break] "You heard me well enough, Luli and Junjie just have a way of getting under people's skins when they want to." she said her voice showing embarrassment. Luli was looking over Jevi and whispering to Junjie in some sort of unknown language and he was replying calmly. There was something that Jevei had said which made Junjie stop paying attention to his sister and almost glare at Jevi "I am not your master, I am no one's master and I request you never speak those words to me again." his tone though calm held a threatening tone to it. The man's mannerisms changed in an instant, it was almost like being called this one thing had insulted him in more ways than one. "Strike one." he said simply before he was dismissed with his sister. Hinota watched them as they left Luli showing concern to her brother. [break][break] "Although the pair have been my head maid and bodyguard for as long as I can remember there's much about them I do not know. For Junjie to have such a reaction is not normal. I apologise for how they have both reacted towards you." her tone was apologetic to the white-haired man as she bowed a little, she believed though she should kowtow it would likely make him most uncomfortable and so decided against it. With this out of the way, they made their way to the cafe and awaited their guest to join them. She had ordered them both juice given how early in the morning it was while they waited. Eventually, the man who had been the sole survivor of the most recent attack joined them. Jevi took the lead in asking questions and took in the information and determined that they were dealing with minotaurs. [break][break] Hearing the man's words she nodded "That is indeed what they are called." she confirmed before having asked him the direction of where the attack happened. He had pointed east and so after Jevi had ordered the man drink in thanks, "We will be just fine, I assure you. Please take care of yourself." she said before she left with Jevi towards the location in the hopes to put an end to the threat that was seemingly looming over Sosshi. "I doubt this is a one-time thing in honesty, but if it was it could explain why the magic knights haven't really heard of it yet." she said thoughtfully to his question. "It might still be hanging around however, we'll see soon enough." she said with a smile as she continued forward, her movements were as graceful as ever as she walked. She could feel his eyes on her but didn't comment on it. [break][break] "I do believe they are aggressive in nature." she said calmly, she was wondering why he believed that this wouldn't be the case given the books on the race. "The fact they are so close to the populace however isn't normal, they usually like to stay underground from my understanding." she said it was clear this issue was concerning her but she understood that there was likely more to this situation than they currently knew and so they shouldn't jump to assumptions. Eventually the glance stealing made her feel self-conscious "If you like my hanfu that much I can get one made for you to wear." she said teasing just a little. Hearing his next question she stopped "Personally, I would prefer them to be knocked out, however, it is not wise in this case as they would just continue to put the civilian population in Sosshi in danger." she said her tone showing true sadness on this matter. [break][break] She was a pacifist with a kind soul and it showed that making such decisions was difficult for her but she would always put her preference over the safety of the kingdom. She understood that this world wasn't a perfect utopia and it never would be, that force and death would be needed from time to time, she just refused to be the one adding to the pain, death and suffering that was already in the world. Hearing his next question was a simple one to answer "I do what is needed to ensure the kingdom and its citizen's safety regardless of how I feel on the matter the one doesn't outweigh the safety of the many." it was as simple as that to the young woman. It was clear she understood her duty not only as a magic knight but as a captain. [break][break] The walk wasn't that far until they came across a broken wagon with what looked like its supplies still nearby, if not scattered around like it had been rummaged through. It seemed as if it wasn't one but two of the beasts that had done this crime but two of them. "I think they are quite young, but I could be wrong." she just noted the size of them and they seemed smaller than what was depicted in the books she had read in the past. "Let me know if you need anything." she expected him to get hurt but by their movements, they were slower than her companion so didn't use a shield or heal straight away as it could just be a waste of mana. "You are wasting your breath they won't listen." she called out to him

From the looks of it, discrediting someone’s skills and achievements ran in the family when Luli revealed Junjie was her brother, and that he had apparently been selling Jevi’s abilities a bit high. A cloud, huh? All fluff and no substance. It was hurtful to say the least, but they were Hinota’s retainers and he didn’t wish to offend them or get into an argument with them for her sake. Still, it shook his confidence a bit, which was weird. Sword fighting was one of the few things he had truly applied himself to in his life. For the past fourteen or so years he had trained every single day, with perhaps one exception when his mother forced him to stay in bed due to a high fever. He couldn’t remember his life all that well before swords started to play a role into it due to his magic, yet here were two people who had barely seen him use them criticizing his skills. His magic couldn’t create the most elaborate swords yet, that was true, but the sword itself had no impact on someone’s skills with it. A true master could beat a novice with a beat up, brittle sword while the novice could have the most amazingly forged sword in all of history. The only thing Jevi showed was a slight furrow of his brow, showing he was taking in her words, but he knew better than to speak up.
[break][break]
It was clear that Hinota felt embarrassed on behalf of her retainers, which made Jevi even more aware of not getting into an argument with the siblings to save her the trouble. She apologized for the both of them. “It’s fine.” Jevi didn’t want to get into it, as hurt as he was it just wasn’t worth it. He spoke to Junjie about the upcoming training, and with him accepting Jevi as his student it was only natural for the elf to address his new tutor as master. That’s what he had been thought from a young age on, and what all of his other tutors had requested to be called. To see Junjie’s attitude shift like it did, telling him that he was no one’s master with a request never to address him as such again. Jevi was clearly taken aback, a sorrowful look gracing his expression. “My apologies. It was out of habit.” Even so, Jevi felt bad to have seemingly hurt the man as he did. Just because he had been insulted by Junjie didn’t mean he wanted the man to feel bad, not in the slightest. That’s just not who he was as a person.
[break][break]
Eventually the two retainers left him and Hinota by themselves, and Hinota exclaimed that even though they had always been her head of maids and bodyguard there were things even she didn’t know about them. She was worried about Junjie’s change in attitude, that was clear to see, and Jevi sighed when she apologized for them. “What was it that you said during your visit to my home? An apology on behalf of another is insincere?” His expression changed, putting up a warm smile and letting the insults slide off his back. “You don’t have to apologize for them, okay? And I don’t need an apology from them either. It’s fine.” If it hadn’t been obvious to Hinota yet, Jevi preferred to avoid confrontation rather than going head first into it. He disliked pointless fights, and if he had to beg and scream for an apology then what was really the point? It was the same with his father, he had finally found his voice and made a stand, but he was not going to beg the man to apologize for his behavior towards him. He preferred to just let bygones be bygones, and as long as he was the only one hurt by such actions then he could just let it slide. If it involved the people he cared about, it might have been different.
[break][break]
After they got all the information they needed from Iaric, the two went on their way to the designated area that they had been pointed to. On their way, Jevi talked to Hinota about the situation and wondered if the minotaur was still near Sosshi. She believed it might be, and doubted this was a one-time attack to which Jevi agreed with. He nodded to her words, seeing her smile which put him at ease. It somehow always did. Stealing glances was something he couldn’t help, because the way she moved was simply enchanting. When they spoke of the minotaur’s nature, Jevi added onto his previous statement. “Right, I guess hostile might have been the better word to use. I meant I’m surprised that they are getting so close to humans, which is quite aggressive in my opinion. There might be something happening in their natural habitat to make them move and act out.” Jevi mused aloud, believing there was more to the situation than currently met the eye. Hinota’s ideas on minotaurs only supported that notion.
[break][break]
When Hinota called Jevi out on him stealing glances, the boy’s cheeks colored a light red as he knew he had been caught. He looked away from her, to the side, his voice soft. “Even if you did, I cannot make it look as gorgeous as you do…” The moment the words left his lips he realized what he said, moving his hand over to his mouth as he coughed softly. “What I mean to say is, you look beautiful. That’s all.” That was alright to say right? It wasn’t too flirtatious, simply stating a fact. Even a friend could call another friend beautiful. Surely, this would be alright. He hoped it was, because the words had already been spoken and he couldn’t take them back. As for the issue surrounding knocking them out, Hinota knew that there was no other option here than to take them down to which Jevi nodded. “Got it, I’ll make it as painless as I possibly can.” He didn’t want to add to the suffering either, and as such he’d try his best to make it clean and simple. They spoke of her position as captain too, and Jevi attempted to learn from her, but the answer was expected. That’s how he felt about it too, so it seemed he was on the right track.
[break][break]
When they reached the area they had been looking for, they noticed two smaller minotaurs and Hinota mentioned they looked to be quite young. She mentioned that Jevi should let her know if he needed anything, but with his pride hurt from before he wouldn’t admit to needing help even if he did. Then again, these minotaurs were slow compared to him, did not have the strength to compete with him, nor the finesse to make up for it. That was likely due to them being young, but it meant Jevi would have no issue dispatching them. At first he disarmed the both of them, moving gracefully across the battlefield with determined steps and fluid movements. He tried to reason with them, but he knew Hinota was right and that he was wasting his breath. “So be it.” He mumbled, rushing at them as he sliced one minotaur across its chest on his way to the other who received the same treatment. With the frostbite of his sword taking effect, they were taken out instantly, falling motionless to the ground. He looked at his long sword in thought, a frown on his face as the words of Junjie and Luli echoed in his head…Was he really worth nothing? Did he have no substance as a swordsman? Maybe in the near future he’d get his answers.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The pair knew that they were insulting him, they were doing it on purpose as though they did believe their words they wanted to see his reaction but they weren't impressed in the slightest. They expected the passiveness from someone like their lady but from a warrior? They didn't expect such a thing. Junjie knew that given his magic he would have been passionate about the sword but he believed the man right now shouldn't hold anything but a concubine's fan. Luli was questioning if her brother was sane because he didn't see anything special and he should be allowed to live as a novice if he was going to be that passive. She was a maid and still was more a swordsman than he would ever be at this rate. The pair were concerned about leaving their lady in his care but they kept their thoughts silent. [break][break] She looked down "It isn't fine Lord Suru, they know better." she said calmly holding her sleeves, the pair looked at their lady for a moment and bowed to her "Our apologies princess, we didn't mean you discomfort." they completely ignored Jevi at this moment. It was when Jevi apologised Junjie looked at him without another word and walked off "I suggest you unlearn it before your first lesson." Luli stated before moving after her brother to check if he was alright. The floral mage couldn't do anything but look down, she had never seen Junjie act out in such a manner. "You used the term correctly but I think he has a negative connotation with it." she said her voice showing nothing but sadness wondering what had happened for him to act in such a manner "I am so sorry Lord Suru." she was fighting back tears. [break][break] "It is complicated." she said quietly as he attempted to use her words against her. "In our previous case it was people of the same standing, in this case it is not, they are my retainers and so any insult they make they can be punished for and it reflects badly on me." she admitted. "This is why am apologising because it appears as if I can't keep my servants in control." she finished showing him a glimpse into her world. She shook her head "I do have to apologise!" she gripped her sleeves, she hated living outside of the mist at times it was so complicated, it brought nothing but chaos in her otherwise orderly world. The only reason she hadn't gone back to the estate was due to obligations and she knew that if she gave up being a magic knight her fate would be set in stone and that meant a closed gilded cage. [break][break] She could tell he hated fights but some couldn't be avoided even she understood this. She walked off and waited at the cafe drinking her juice as the survivor came. She allowed Jevi to take the lead, she understood he was travelled but it almost felt like he didn't think she knew how to talk to commoners, it was insulting but she remained quiet. Eventually, they were given the information they needed and moved towards the last known location of the minotaurs. "Sometimes it happens with wildlife." she didn't know enough about minotaurs to know if something was causing them to move or if this family was just unique and were migrating. Whatever the reason was they would find out soon enough. "It might not be an aggressive move, that's you making assumptions." she hated when anyone did that, these beasts could indeed be victims. [break][break] She could tell that he was stealing glances and it was making her self-conscious so she called him on it, it caused his cheeks to pink and then cross the line once more but this time it was far more severe as he spoke about her beauty and how gorgeous she was withing her hanfu. It caused the young woman to stop and ball her hands, she knew he was meant as an endearment but she wasn't a Western woman and so he should stop treating her as if she was "Please stop" she demanded softly, it was clear she was uncomfortable with his compliments. She honestly didn't want to be there right not but now she was committed to this task and so would see it through, although she would need to send a letter to his mother about this, perhaps she could help him understand why this was wrong. [break][break] She started to walk once more and he asked about her what she would prefer when it came to the enemies. She was grateful that he was thinking about her comfort but there was only one outcome for the safety of the citizens of Sosshi and so she told him to take them out. Jevi said he would make it as quick as possible and for that she was thankful as she didn't want them to suffer. He had asked her of her thoughts as a captain and she gave it to him. It honestly didn't matter what she thought so long as the kingdom and its citizens were safe. She did go on to say that she just wouldn't be the one to add to the pain, suffering and death in the world. Sometimes she wondered if she really should be a magic knight given her way of thinking. [break][break] As they got closer to the destroyed caravan they saw two minotaurs. She told Jevi that if he needed assistance to let her know as she really couldn't do anything but support him. She could tell the minotaurs were reckless and strong but they were slow. Jevi made quick work of them, and for this she was thankful. "Let's continue east." she said quietly as she began to walk once more. She knew that animals would feast upon them or that some people would come to get the broken caravan eventually and likely take the hide and such as trophies. She didn't find much taste for such thing but she knew there was likely a market for it somewhere. [break][break] [Exit]
