A lot had happened since Jevi had asked Sumire for help with learning more about the Eastern culture, and unfortunately a lot had happened with Hinota specifically. Due to his own ignorance on her culture, he had managed to royally screw up again, and again, and again. It was incredibly frustrating, but there simply hadn’t been any time to visit Sumire before all of this, so he had just made the situation between the two even worse he felt like. The swordsman was also considering whether or not he could tell Sumire about every single detail, but he felt like he had to in order to truly understand how to navigate his interactions with Hinota in the future. That is if there were even going to be more interactions in the future. Jevi highly doubted it, but if anything he could learn for the sake of other people he’d meet who came from the East, like Sumire herself for example. He was not willfully ignorant, he just didn’t know where to start and the books he had just weren’t enough to help him out. So he had finally written up a letter to Sumire to cash in on her promise to help him, and had scheduled an appointment with her. Apparently, another person from the East would be joining them on this talk, a man at that. Enlil was someone Sumire trusted, and that was enough for Jevi. Plus, it would be beneficial for Jevi to have an Eastern man tell him about what was and wasn’t expected of him.
[break][break]
While Jevi was getting ready to leave, his mother knocked on the door to his room as Jevi spoke up absent mindedly. “Come in.” He was already dressed, he was just ensuring he had everything he needed on him, like his little ox trinket. “Are you heading out, sweetie?” Jevi looked over to his mother, Saki, who had opened the door and closed it behind her so their talk could remain private and away from his father’s ears. “Mhm, I’m going to see Sumire Honoka. We’ve met at the Flower Fete and went through a dungeon together, and since she’s from the East I’ve asked her to teach me about her culture.” All of it was stated in a rather neutral tone, as Jevi didn’t want to make it sound like a big deal, however Saki wouldn’t be his mother if she couldn’t see right through him. “Ahh~, so you’re going to take lessons for Hinota’s sake?” A faint blush crept on his cheeks as he turned to look at his mother, trying his best to deny it. “N-No, of course not. I just- need to learn for my future position as captain, you know?” The defense was rather weak, as Saki moved her hand in front of her mouth and giggled softly. She then moved closer to him, placing her hands on his cheeks to make him look at her. “I think it’s sweet, and I’m sure she appreciates it as well.” Jevi sighed softly, bringing one hand up to rest on Saki’s. “Maybe, but I don’t think I’ll ever know if she does or not. I’m afraid that bridge has been burned…” Saki stroked her thumb over his cheek, not looking away from her son. “You never know, dear. She resolved herself to stand by you, made sure you were there to see the mission through by sending that spatial mage…I think she cares for you more than you might believe right now.” Jevi closed his eyes, trying to stop the tears from forming as he pulled back from his mother’s embrace and shook his head. “D-Don’t…please, I-…I can’t think like that when I need to let her go.” Saki frowned, but knew when enough was enough, even though she wished he wouldn’t treat himself so harshly. “Alright, sweetie, I won’t say another word.”
[break][break]
Jevi quickly managed to calm himself down, taking a deep breath before he opened his eyes again and smiled at Saki. “Thank you. I’ll be home before dinner, okay?” He moved back closer to his mother and leaned down to give her a kiss on her cheek, speaking softly. “I love you.” Too much time had gone by without him telling her that he did. Even though his parting letter contained the words, he still had abandoned his mother for three years and tried hard to make up for it. On Saki’s end, though, she was already happy enough to have her son back and smiled at him. “I love you too, sweetie, be safe.” Jevi nodded, leaving his bedroom and making his way towards the stable where Jasmine was waiting for him. On his way out, he avoided his father, which was all well and good with him. Reaching his horse, the excitement the white mare showed was not surprising and made Jevi chuckle. “Yes, yes, we’re going on a ride today, calm down.” He stroked Jasmine’s snout before putting the saddle on her and leading her outside. Once there, he got on his horse to make his way to the Honoka Estate, right behind the White Lotus within the Royal Capital. It was not too hard to find, and the ride there wasn’t long either.
[break][break]
Once he arrived at the estate, Jevi dismounted from Jasmine and a servant came over towards them wanting to take over the reins from him in order to stable Jasmine. The mare, however, did not take kindly to this and immediately reared up in an attempt to pull away. Jevi sighed softly, quickly taking over from the servant and when he did Jasmine calmed down. He gave the man a shy smile, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. “I’m sorry, she’s just really attached to me.” As if to emphasize these words, Jasmine nudged his head with her own as if to grab his attention and to tell him not to leave her. Jevi smiled and let her, bringing his hand to her mane and stroking through it. “Would you be so kind to show me the way to the stables? I’ll stable her myself when we’re there. Again, my apologies for the trouble.” Jevi gave a slight bow the best he could before following the servant to the stables where he indeed took care of Jasmine and ensured that she was going to behave. “I’ll be back soon enough, alright girly? You behave.” Jasmine let out a big exhale, trying to have the last words, but Jevi gave her a stern look. “I’m serious, Jasmine, we’re guests here. Don’t get us into trouble.” He sighed softly, his stern look fading as he stroked her snout once more. “That’s my good girl.” With Jasmine calmed down, even though it took longer than expected, Jevi was able to be brought to wherever Sumire and Enlil were waiting for him, following the servant once more.
[break][break]
When he saw his host, Jevi smiled and gave her a proper bow as he greeted her. He was dressed in his regular clothes, which were a bit fancier than the ones he wore when he was on duty though they kept the same blue and black color scheme he preferred. Whenever Enlil joined them he might also notice the ring on his hand as a symbol of his family, something he had started wearing as of late now that he had declared he’d one day come for his father’s position and take over as head of the family. It was just one more small way he could get to his old man without it seeming out of place. “Thank you so much for agreeing to see me today, Lady Sumire.” He was unsure how formal he should be right now, considering this was her estate. Before he had been simply calling her by name, but right now he decided to play it safe. “Did you not say Sir Enlil would be joining us as well? Was he unable to make it, or is he simply not here yet?” With pleasantries and greetings out of the way, Jevi would join them and take a seat. Though, now came the hard part, as he wasn’t entirely sure where to even begin. “I am unsure of where to start…I have told you I offended a certain person due to my ignorance, and that that’s why I wish to learn more about your culture so I can prevent such a thing from happening again in the future. Is there more you would like to know before we get into your teachings?” Maybe they wanted to hear of the details so they could give him better pointers, and if that was the case then Jevi would of course share the complete story from his point of view. “Uhm, I do ask that the details I’m sharing today will remain between us. I hope those are acceptable terms to you both?” This was Hinota he’d be talking about, after all, and considering her status he did not want to risk any scandal linked back to her name. He needed to be careful, but he believed Sumire would not betray his trust. She had been nothing but kind to him, after all. And if she trusted Enlil, then certainly he could trust the man as well.

Jevi talks with his mother before leaving to see Sumire and Enlil at the Honoka estate with Jasmine. Greets them both and asks that any details he’s sharing today would remain between them.
Due to the lunar year just passing, a craftsman in the town of Hage teaching a new class of apprentices decided to make it a class project. They were to make small trinkets out of oak that look like oxen as with all learners things didn't go as planned and they ended up making derpy looking oxen. The shopkeeper decided to buy everything as she found out that all the proceeds were going to help with the rebuilding of Kikka.[break]
Stats Affected: 25% junior buff to strength[break]
Description:[break]
The holder of this small trinket seems to hold the strength of an oxen allowing them to deal a bit more damage than is normal. Unlike normal items this item seems to grow in strength the stronger the bond it has with the owner much like a spirit or relic allowing this to be trained up to a grand ability. Once bought it is bound to the account it is on and can't be sold back to the store.
Sumire watched the warehouse tends the back of her family's estate, continue to be worked on and decorated. This was her new studio so to speak. her only client for the most part was the Ravencrest. For their Heiress. She truly was enjoying the time and attention she got to just the clothing. All the details, the Patterns, the fabrics. It was all so beautiful and hers alone. If clothing was alive, she most likely would marry her creations. Just everything about clothing was her bread and butter. [break][break] She looked over her shoulder at her two manabeast bickering with each other in her native tounge as they seemed to be in a game of chase over a letter as she sighed. It was a letter from Jevi Suru. A young magic knight she has meet at both the flower fete and within a dungeon. He seemed to wish to know her culture for someone that he liked that was much like her. She had a guess of who it might be as there was many from her culture here but the way he spoke and acted, it was not hard to assume. Most seemed very smitten of the woman within her presence and deep down Sumire could feel such jealousy for such wants. Well she would be jealous if she herself wasn't already smitten and called for from the silent promise of the item that rested in her hair each and every day. She had hoped Enlil would be here as well after her sent letter of requesting his presence to help the magic knight when it came to their culture. While sumire can teach him from a female's standpoint, she could not teach him from the view point of a male. Enlil was the best one to show him outside of sending a questionable request to Hania himself to hopefully help Jevi and his endeavor. [break][break] She looked up at the sky from her place on the inner porch of the internal gardens of the honokai estate before hearing a servant whisper something to her. [break][break] "Good lets go great him." She spoke turning on her heels walking through the Estate to greet Jevi. She had wished Enlil was there right now as it was always awkward meeting new people on her estate. She wasn't one to shy from interactions per say, it was just hard when some of those she had trusted like a red haired vermillion heir, becoming deranged. She took a deep breath calming herself as her manabeast followed in interest. [break][break] "You are welcome Lord Suru. If you are unsure of the formality then you must tread within the means of that culture. Meaning we are in clover. It is Lady Honoka. It will be then I either correct you but giving permission to use my name or continue letting you call me Lady Honoka, Bowing low is also a good thing to do out of respect and many times bringing a gift of meaning can be respectable." She Said sweetly. [break][break] She beckoned him to follow after her as she looked towards the two small mana beasts of the rabbit and cat " Nǐmen néng zài zhèlǐ děng yīxià bìng quèbǎo yǐn shí xūnjué bèi hùsòng dào wǒmen zhèlǐ ma?" She spoke in their native tounge as both put their hands together inside their sleeves before bowing in respect "Lǐjiě, zhè shì wǒmen de róngxìng" They spoke in unison as Sumire continued walking on leading Jevi towards a open meeting room with a single table holding a freshly brewed pot of tea with snacks on a tray as three spots were presented around the table as three more spots sat against a wall. [break][break] A older steel blue haired woman walked past Jevi moving to Sumire as she put her hands together bowing as as her steel blue eyes watched them both "Měihǎo de yītiān, suì xiāng nǚshì. Wǒ shì ànzhào yāoqiú lái de. Wǒ xiāngxìn yīnshí dàrén yě huì zài zhèlǐ." Spoke the woman raising herself back up as a Dao with a deep purple tassel rested at her hip as she folded her arms behind her back walking to the wall taking a seat, resting the blade from her hip to beside her. [break][break] Sumire smiled walking to her spot to the side of Jevi allowing the empty spot across from him be for Enlil. It was then she listened to him speak of his issues as she could see a problem right there a big one. He was going to get eaten alive allowing those feelings free. It was concerning to say the least. [break][break] "Well firstly, Lord Yinsil will be here soon as I know he has received and accepted my request for him to be at today's meeting. So give him time, he is a very busy man with a lot of duties to his family and his job. Secondly, Calm your heart Lord Suru, Holding it on display is as foreign for my culture as our culture and its traditions are to yourself. Thirdly. I am a business woman and taking time out of the massive single commission I receive four times a year to assist and help you with your endeavor, I do not hold many friends of any kind outside this estate if at all possible. What we speak of will not leave these walls so you need not to fear. While we await for Lord Yinsil to arrive, Please tell me about yourself and only yourself, nothing too deep just likes and dislikes, hobbies etc." She spoke deciding to break the ice with him while they waited for Enlil.

[break][break] Rank & Element: Junior ¦ Gemstone[break] Class & Type: Relic ¦ Accessory (Hairpin)[break] Magic Specializations: Defense Creation ¦ Physical Reinforcement[break] Appearance:[break] A first this item may seem like a simple thin, yet large golden ring that could be used as a bracelet, that is until each of the other pieces are connected. The first seems to be an elaborate hair comb whose teeth are made to sit inside the ring, this part of the hairpin is adorned with carefully crafted butterflies and flowers made of several different colours of jade. The flowers have small pearls in the centre while each of the butterfly's antennae is made from gold with a small piece of mother of pearl at the top. At the base of the comb section of the hairpin, there are three golden chains which start with three pearls, then three small gold charms, three more pearls, three small golden balls, and two butterflies on the outer chain while the centre is split into three additional chains. The centre has mother of pearl beads. Each of the five chains has a small carved pearl flower. To make sure the ring and comb stay in place the last piece of this elaborate hairpin is the pin itself which is made from gold that has a pearl at the top with two splintering golden chains that have the same small carved pearl flowers.[break] History:[break] The history of this hairpin has been a long one, in fact, it has been around for so long and had so many owners that the adornments and chains had once been broken, chipped or lost. The origins of the hairpin weren't anything significant, a man met a woman, the man fell in love with that woman and wanted to show his devotion to her and so made a token of his love. It was something that was given to the firstborn son of the Yinsil family at their coming of age so they may give it to their betrothed when he felt the pang of love for her. By the time it had gotten to Enlil, it was nothing more than a husk of its former self and so through painstaking love and attention to detail he removed each of the old adornments making them into new pieces of jewellery for his mother and sisters before crafting brand new ones for the woman that would one day be his wife. It had taken him years to get the hairpin in such a state that he found it aesthetically pleasing to look at and that his future wife would feel honoured to wear it to show their bond of love. The petals can take up to intermediate damage before being destroyed, however, if the gem petal bubble isn't destroyed it will repair itself the following round. This seal has two effects, the first being a marking which looks like a topaz bamboo shoot that appears at the back of the wearer's hand increasing their physical strength to junior rank damage while also giving their physical attacks a magical backing. The second is that if an attack gets close a thick bamboo-like forest made from topaz sprouts around the wearer. This forest is only around twelve inches away from the user and requires intermediate damage before it is destroyed, however, if the forest isn't destroyed then it will repair itself the very following round.

[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]It had been around a month since he had last been at the Honoka estate, when he had last gone he had collapsed. It was from being spread too thin but given all his commitments it was hard not to be. A butler knocked on his workshop's door, he could only groan as he honestly didn't want to deal with anything at current as he was busy with next social seasons gifts for his circle. "Go away I'm busy." he said dismissing the man without looking up from what he was doing. At current, he was checking the quality of the gemstones that would be used but it was still a tedious task given there were ten people including himself within the circle and each gift needed to be of the same theme but pristine and unique. "But young master..." the man began to speak "But nothing." he interrupted looking over a pink sapphire.
The butler knew just how stressed the young man was and that if he made a single flaw in anything he created he would have to start from the beginning once more and that could mean a loss of several months of work. "Young master, I have a letter from the Honoka family." he eventually said knowing it was one of the few things he would drop everything for. "Why didn't you say sooner." he whispered to himself and walked to the door opening it and taking the letter before he started to read. "Thank you, get my carriage ready." he ordered the man bowing and going to do what was requested of him. The wind mages eyes went to the gift he had in his sleeve last time he visited wondering if he should bring it this time but shook his head. "It's not time." he whispered to himself.
He moved to his room and changed into a blue and white hanfu allowing the maids to take his old clothing as he left to go to his carriage. On his way, he moved back into his workshop picking up two small boxes before moving to where the weavers were to have a new brocade brought to his carriage. His personal butler and maid were already waiting for him he ensured the brocade box was secured properly before he moved into the carriage with the servants moving in afterwards. The journey didn't take all that long but the entire way he was looking over gemstones and marking their grades to see which could and couldn't be used for his current project. When he was there the butler opened the door to the carriage allowing Enlai to exit before helping the maid to exit.
He allowed the servants to take the brocade and the driver to take the carriage to where it needed to go as he stepped in he noticed the two mana beasts and bowed to them both "Fù yuè xiǎojiě, qiūyuè xiǎojiě, nǐmen bù bāngmáng sòng wǒ qù suì xiāng dàrén nàlǐ ma?" he said respectfully to them both. "Wǒ jì zhùle nǐ de lǐwù, wǒ dāyìng gěi tāmen, wǒmen hé suì xiāng nǚshì jiànmiàn" he said to the pair allowing him to be guided through the house, he could hear music being played deeper within the home meaning that Akihiko was home and listening to the idol he toured with. Eventually, they met up with Jevi and Sumire he would be quiet until announced then bowed to both "My apologies for being late." he said with a respectful tone "I see the goddesses are once again happy Lady Honoka." he began as he stood.
"Did you pay them a visit?" he would ask showing Jevi exactly how he viewed Sumire without outright coming out and saying it. "I have brought you a gift." he stated the servants coming forward allowing him to open the box. It was a beautiful white silk brocade that slowly moved into lavender blush mid-way down before going into lavender a quarter of the way down. It almost looked like early dusk. "I do hope you like it, it will only be manufactured again at your request." It showed that this was a special brocade only she could order now. He then moved into his sleeve before he brought out the two boxes and held one out to each mana beast. Each mana beast would find a decorative pouch in their favoured colours and inside would be a hairpin with a floral design of their favoured flower.
"Zhèngrú wǒ nàxiē jìnzé de qíngfù suǒ chéngnuò de" he was polite to them bowing to each individually before looking at his hostess and fellow guest. "You must be the Lord Suru who wishes to learn our customs." he said showing he understood why he was there "Lady Honoka, has your brother returned? It has been a while since I have seen the young Lord Honoka." he said commenting on the music that was flowing throughout the house, he knew it could have been one of the children playing with the gift Akihiko left on each of their walls but it didn't seem to be the case. He would wait to see what would happen for now.
Fù yuè xiǎojiě, qiūyuè xiǎojiě, nǐmen bù bāngmáng sòng wǒ qù suì xiāng dàrén nàlǐ ma? - Mistress Fu Yue, Mistress Qiu Yue will you not help escort me to Lady Honoka?
Wǒ jì zhùle nǐ de lǐwù, wǒ dāyìng gěi tāmen, wǒmen hé suì xiāng nǚshì jiànmiàn - I have remembered your gifts, I promise to give them we meet up with Lady Honoka
Zhèngrú wǒ nàxiē jìnzé de qíngfù suǒ chéngnuò de - As promised my dutiful mistresses
Making it to the Honoka estate was no problem at all. Stabling Jasmine was a bit more of an issue, but he knew the white mare better than anyone and was well-aware that she only responded to him and his attention. Why she was like that Jevi didn’t know, but he remembered the day his mother Saki got him the young mare. He had practically raised her since that moment and taken care of her. Aside from his sword fighting, Jasmine was one of the few things he properly tended to. It had hurt to leave her behind, and it was clear that Jasmine was of no mind of letting that happen again. If he were to ever run away again, which he did not anticipate doing, he’d ensure to take Jasmine with him. Once the horse was stabled he was greeted by his hostess Sumire. Calling her Lady Sumire was the first mistake he made, and probably one of many today. Though her tone was sweet, and she knew he was trying to learn, so he felt a lot better about making a mistake here than he did when he was with Hinota where his mistakes lead to hurtful misunderstandings.
[break][break]
Her words were clear. If he was unsure, he were to tread within the culture of where they were, meaning his own right now. He should have called her Lady Honoka, to which she could have let that be the way to address her or tell him otherwise and go from there. In return to her sweet words, Jevi did give her a low bow and spoke kindly in return. “My apologies, Lady Honoka, and thank you for the pointers.” It was a relief to have someone so patient willing to teach him the ways of her culture. Perhaps merely showing his willingness to learn was enough for someone like Sumire who seemed to be proud of her culture. When she beckoned him to follow her, he did without hesitation as she spoke to her two mana beasts; a rabbit and a cat. They spoke in their native language though, so Jevi did not understand what they said. Perhaps learning the language was a good next step too? That was something he could do on his own for the most part, it would just take time and effort. Hard word was not something he shied away from, though, so he’d make a mental note and focus on the lessons he was here for today.
[break][break]
They entered an open meeting room with a single table which had tea and sweets already prepared. An older woman with steel blue hair passed him, and she immediately caught Jevi’s eye for the simple fact that she looked strong. Perhaps she was Sumire’s bodyguard just like how Junjie was Hinota’s? She, too, spoke in their native language, so Jevi was left in the dark once more of what was being said. The blade she held on her hip was interesting to Jevi though, and it likely did not go unnoticed to the woman that he had seen her sword. Though, he did not comment on it, and instead took the seat that Sumire seemed to have assigned to him, leaving the spot opposite of him empty. Sir Enlil was also supposed to come today to help out by showing him the male perspective on things, so Jevi inquired about where he was and also started talking about the plans for today. He was eager to learn, something that was quite clear in his demeanor and words which Sumire easily picked up on.
[break][break]
Sumire explained that Lord Yinsil would be there soon, as she knew he had received and accepted the invitation. However, he was a very busy man, so Jevi was expected to give him time. The swordsman gave his host a nod, a smile on his face which soon fell when she mentioned he needed to calm his heart. It was something that had been said to him a lot lately, and it seemed even when he tried it simply wasn’t enough. The fact that people in the Eastern culture did not show their feelings so openly was something he had already learned. She continued on, stating that she was taking out of her busy schedule for him and explained how she did not have many friends outside of the estate. She told him all of that to reassure him that whatever was said here today would not leave the room. “Thank you. That is a relief. And trust me, I’ve learned already that I cannot keep my heart on my sleeve like I am used to doing. I find it difficult not to, but I’m trying to improve.” Even now he was trying by keeping his tone neutral and attempting his best not to show the disappointment he felt in himself.
[break][break]
While they waited for Enlil, Sumire wanted him to tell her about himself. Not about his current problem or situation, but just about him as a person. He was a bit taken aback at first, not having expected such a question, but he didn’t mind sharing some personal things about himself. Of course, he would not haphazardly mention the issues he had with his father, but he could tell her about his hobbies and interests. “I’d be happy to. As you know, I have Sword Magic and naturally my interest in swords is also there. I’ve loved working on my swordsmanship all my life and continue to do so. Other than that I enjoy horse riding and exploring the world. I’ve spent three years journeying throughout the Forsaken Region and I’ve seen many beautiful sights there. I also enjoy reading, mostly mythological stories, so when I’m not training my swordsmanship or magic I’m generally resting with a book in my hands.” That should do just fine as far as his hobbies and interests went, right? The reason for his travels did not need to be mentioned. The less people who were aware of his family drama the better.
[break][break]
Not long after he finished sharing his interests with Sumire, it was Lord Yinsil who entered the room and spoke in a respectful tone towards Sumire. He mentioned the Goddesses being happy, and wondered if Sumire had paid them a visit. It was not hard to understand that such a thing was very much a compliment, and yet it felt deeper than that. At the same time, it also didn’t? Was…this how men courted women in the East? Instead of calling her beautiful or anything of the sort, Lord Yinsil circumvented being direct and paid her a compliment in a different way. Then he showed her the gift he had brought, and mentioned that it was only going to be made at her request from now on. That meant it was specially made for her in a way, yet she still held the power over whether she wanted it to be only for her or not by letting her decide if it were to be manufactured again. The man even gave the mana beasts a small gift. When Lord Yinsil looked towards him, Jevi couldn’t help but feel a slight lump in his throat as he nodded and stood up in order to properly greet him. “Yes, that is me. It is my pleasure to meet you, Lord Yinsil. I’m ever so grateful for you taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me today.” He gave the man a deep bow, putting his newly learned etiquette to work, before he sat down again. While he was a bit nervous, he took a small barely noticeable breath to calm himself and his mind. This required his focus, and he wanted to do things right for once as he was tired of screwing up with every turn.
[break][break]
Jevi rested his hands in his lap, looking from Enlil to Sumire before speaking in a soft, respectful tone. “I’m all ears. Please, teach me what you can about your culture.” Again, he’d give them a small bow to show his gratitude and respect. He did not know where they wished to start, but he already made a helpful observation when Enlil entered the room. The way he spoke to Sumire was enlightening, but he didn’t want to comment on it or ask more about it as he was afraid he’d be stepping on another landmine. If they wished to tell him, they would, so other than that he’d just listen to them and ask questions on their teachings instead.

Jevi is impressed with Enlil and tries to put what he knows to practice.

Sumire smiled having explained to Jevi of a common tradition when meeting someone like her for the first time. She wasn't mean about it or going to step on any shoes when it came to the way things are done. She knew he needed time to adjust and coming straight at him was not going to help him learn. She smiled beckoning him to follow after tell her two manabeast to wait for Enlil.
[break][break]
The two manabeast awaited by the gate of the Estate. They would love to wait outside and learn the world of clover and its lands, however they were safer on the estate. In the estate they were free, they were family. They learned the same as the childern did. they dress and ate just like the one that extended their hand to give them a new life and a world of opportunities. They looked around before looking at each other in worry before seeing a familiar carriage as they bounced in excitement before getting themselves under control folding their arms in their hanfus while bowing quickly in respect "Ēn lì ěr xūnjué, nín yě hǎo, wǒmen hěn róngxìng nénggòu yīng nǚshì dì yāoqiú hùsòng nín." They spoke in excited Unison, growing even more excited upon the acknowledgement of presents as they turned on their heels in excitement leading him through the Estate.
[break][break]
Sumire lead Jevi to a open bearish room. it was a good open spot for meetings and her former fabric storage. Simplest place to hold a meeting. She had instructed him on her observations and spoke in ways she believed he understood. She then had asked him to speak of his likes and dislikes, along with his hobbies. Simple little ice breakers while they awaited their third guest that was soon to arrive.
[break][break]
Not long after they arrived to the open room as they bowed " Lord Yinsil has arrived" Spoke Fu yue in delight as Qui yue nodded announcing Enlil's arrival. Sumire turned her attention to Enlil as she smiled relaxing even more as she took in his every feature lifting up a sleeve covered hand letting out a light laugh to his compliment. "I believe they are happy to see you out and about on this beautiful day they have blessed." She spoke back.
[break][break]
She stood up, straightening her hanfu as she moved towards him looking over the brocade "It is magnificent. I truly have enjoyed each and every one you have brought to me so far. Such thought and craftsmanship. Truly I am honor." She said softly holding a warm smile allowing her finger tips to grace the fabric. "It will make for such a beautiful hanfu." She complimented removing her hand as she moved back to her seat, sitting down. She watched him turn to her manabeast as both accepted the boxes opening them as they squealed in delight at the sight of the pouches and the hairpins. After a few seconds they calmed down their excitement bowing to him, thanking him for their gifts before running over to the older swordswoman, taking their spots on the two unclaimed seats still enjoying their presents.
[break][break]
Sumire watched their delight as it warmed her heart. She always loved seeing them happy. Even if her siblings and family saw them as adopted sisters or guardians of the family, depending on who you asked. They were like two daughters to her. She helped raise and helped them learn and grow to the two creatures that were as human as she was. Sure they were only manabeast and not safe outside the estate, but to her and them. this family and estate was their territory, along with the compound back home. This place had everything they could want and a family that will love them regardless. It was a bonus in her eyes of them liking Enlil so much. He and Akihiko sure do spoil them rotten sometimes.
[break][break]
Sumire smiled looking between the two males as she prepared each a cup of tea as she looked over to Enlil listening to his question of her brother " Yes Akihiko is home. I had asked his assistance on some embroidery that I could not seem to get right. If there is one person in this world that I know can help with an issue when it comes to such patience it is our own Akihiko. Though he is mainly home for some much needed rest so I still feel bad for bugging him from his busy studies." She spoke with a smile. "He is most likely relaxing or taking a break from the task I asked his assistance with." She spoke

It was something that was given to the firstborn son of the Yinsil family at their coming of age so they may give it to their betrothed when he felt the pang of love for her. [attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]Enlil bowed to Jevi as he was greeted his face wore a smile but it would still be hard to read what he was thinking, it was clear he had been trained to keep such markers hidden. "I could never deny a request from Lady Honoka as the world may become so much duller without her smile within it." he said as he stood up watching as the two young mana beasts took their presents and rushed off to the swordwoman with a squeal to take their seats and faun over their presents. He bowed to the swordswoman "Good day to you Miss Qingxuan, I hope your sword is still yet as sharp as ever." he said his voice warm, it would be easy to think he was insinuating the woman drew her sword without thought but that wasn't the case here.
He was more or less hoping that it had been so peaceful that her blade remained at rest but would be awakened and battle-ready if trouble arose. He cared little for his own well-being, which was odd as he was a socialite but he only cared that what he held most precious would be safe and unharmed. With everyone addressed he allowed his gift to be shown and for Sumire to look over it, when he wished to present such gifts he always made sure utmost care had been placed into them. Seasons, festivals, and the like were all taken into consideration when it came to brocades. He found himself content that she was happy with his gift and had even decided what one of the thing she was going to make with it was. "I am sure it will have its beauty enhanced by the one wearing it." he said allowing the servants to be shown where to place it as he took his seat.
As before he hadn't complimented Sumire directly, instead he had complimented what it was to become and stated its beauty would be enhanced by her wearing it, indirectly calling Sumire beautiful. He would accept the tea that was offered to him and add some honey to sweeten it. "Thank you for your hospitality Lady Honoka, but I'm sure the goddesses are happy that we can meet once more on this blessed day." he said his voice respectful. It was then she spoke of Akihiko and her asking him for help embroidering and quirked an eyebrow "Are we speaking about the same Akihiko that is known to be so accident-prone that he's banned from being around clients and as tone deaf as a deaf man?" he said in surprise, though their families were in good standing with each other, he was still an outsider and so wasn't privy to Akihiko's truth. He wasn't attempting to insult the man merely what everyone in his family and who worked for both families knew about him.
"You are going to end up needing to redo that stitching." he said shaking his head before taking a sip of his tea, it was then Jevi stated that he was all ears and willing to learn about their culture. This had caught the man off guard and so lowered his cup "Might I ask why you would wish to know about our culture? I mean, it's not exactly the easiest as there is a lot of navigating to do even for commoners and a lot harder as you go up the social ladder." he commented, he wasn't against giving aid as Sumire had been the one that asked him but he wanted to know the reasons for it before he decided just how much time he was personally willing to commit to this endeavour.
[attr="class","raescroll"] From the moment Enlil entered the room, Jevi was observing the man quietly and making mental notes on his manner of moving and speaking. The way he spoke was especially interesting, given that he was clearly being extremely nice to Sumire, yet did not explicitly compliment her. His comments were indirect, which was quite the difference from how Jevi would usually speak to, well, anyone. He was not one to mince words or keep his thoughts to himself, even if he was respectful in his manner of speech. The swordswoman was greeted too, but it was clear in Enlil’s tone that he spoke differently to her than to Sumire. As a swordsman he understood the comment about the sword more than most others would, because a sword unused remained sharp which indicated peaceful and calm times. That’s something everyone should strive for in his opinion. Enlil held the same amount of respect in his tone to Miss Qingxuan, but far less flattery. Sumire was enjoying all of it, complimenting Enlil in return for all his gifts and the like. The comment about the beauty of the hanfu being enhanced by the one wearing it was so close to what Jevi had said to Hinota, and yet incredibly far off at the same time too…He could mentally slap himself for that one. [break][break] Sumire would pour all of them some tea, which was another thing Jevi noted. In the Western culture a servant would likely pour the tea, like at his place, yet here Sumire was doing so. It did not necessarily have to be indicative of Eastern culture, though, as it could just be Sumire doing something she enjoyed for a dear friend. “Yes, thank you, Lady Honoka.” It was obvious Jevi was not comfortable or in his element, trying hard to pick up on everything around him and commit it to memory. They spoke a bit of Sumire’s brother Akihiko, who was apparently known to Enlil as quite accident-prone. Obviously the white-haired swordsman had no clue about what Akihiko was like, and so he did not comment on it and simply awaited his turn to speak. It was rude in any culture to interrupt two people conversing unless urgent, and his business was not urgent. Aside from that it was also clear that these two enjoyed each other’s company a lot, and he kind of felt like a fifth wheel on the wagon at the moment. Their friendly banter reminded him a little of himself and Hinota before he messed it all up by acting and speaking on what was in his heart, rather than to follow his head. [break][break] Eventually a moment came for him to speak, in which he had thanked Enlil for clearing time in his busy schedule and made it clear that he was more than willing to listen and learn to anything the two could teach him. This, however, seemed to catch Enlil off guard judging by the man’s response. Enlil’s eyes seemed like they were drilling into Jevi, or at least that’s what it felt like for the latter. The question of why he wanted to learn was a fair one, and Enlil also warned him that it was not easy to learn and would only get harder the higher up the social ladder he’d end up going. Still, that was not going to make him back down from what he needed to do, and his ice blue-eyes showed that determination clearly as he met Enlil’s gaze. “Well, Lord Yinsil, I would like to educate myself on your culture due to my ignorance hurting someone I care about. Not just once either. I end up saying or doing the wrong things which cause her distress, when that is absolutely not my intention. I have tried to read up on the Eastern culture, and believe I have made some progress, but considering I am acquainted with Lady Honoka I believed asking for her assistance was the wiser thing to do. She, in turn, suggested getting your perspective involved as well since you are a man from the East. Essentially I wish to ensure I do not harm others of your culture on accident in the future, that’s why I want to learn more about it.” He ended his explanation with a slight bow, hoping that he had been clear enough. Of course there were many details that likely still needed to be discussed, but this showed his reasoning for requesting Sumire’s help.

Sumire was happy to having Enlil with her. Everything was always better when he was around from the kind words to his thoughtful insights. She listened to him greet her bodyguard as Qingxan nodded "And may your pen remain as sharp as this blade."She replied back watching the manabeast settle themselves down as she turned her head back to the boys and sumire. [break][break] Sumire was over the moon with a new brocade along with all the ideas she had on her mind of what she would use it for. She smiled listening to his compliment of the brocade enhancing whoever wore it, "oh anyone who wears this will be truly blessed from its beauty of the craftsmanship"she said in agreement allowing the servants to take the brocade as she watched him get comfortable in his seat as she nodded listened to his compliment as she did acknowledge she was getting some assistance from Akihiko before seeing him surprised at her getting his help. "We are indeed speaking of the same Akihiko. While he is accident prone, I know my brother's strengths and he knows how much this means to me and the family. He does it on his own time within the timeline I request of him."She spoke with confidence. she and her brother had their own understanding and acknowledgements of each other for one reason or another. He was still her little brother and even if he was busy, he still wrote her letters from time to time and she knew her manabeast always kept in contact with him if she wasn't. [break][break] She smiled placing her finger tips gently across her collarbone "I have full faith in my little brother. He is a Honoka, We all have a gift that sets us apart."She said softly before the conversation turned to the center of attention, jevi himself. He spoke of why he was there and what he hoped for. Sumire was interested to see how enlil was going to assist as well they could help, nobility traditions are not as strict as imperial or whatever standing this mysterious crush of his hand. She felt for the boy. It wasn't easy for those of clovarian born to understand her traditions and how she handles advances compared to the girls of clover. she still felt so foreign after being here for years now. sometimes she wondered if coming to clover was ever a good idea. But to her, wherever enlil was, was worth the adapting and change. [break][break] "I was requested to assist Lord surur, Lord delothionsoin and lady aura in a dungeon. I must seem alot like the woman who he has a want to know deeper. She knew he was busy, he was as busy as she was if not more due to having more then one client along with parties and festivals he was required to attend. She wanted to help jevi but he was of clover born, if there was anyone she could guess that could help him, it was enlil. Well she could have asked Hania but she would never impeade the thought of bringing such a small task to such a busy man. He would be able to help but it wasn't her place to request such from him let alone turning to anyone but the one who helped her mind stay bright and peaceful with his presence, would be an insult of her love and want for enlil.

[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]Enlil looked over to Jevi, it was clear that he was like a fish out of water and smiled a little. He was glad that he never had to go through such things as he had been born in Clover and was educated in both the traditions and customs of his family's homeland as well as the kingdom he called home. Sumire's mother was originally from Clover but her father kept the family close to the customs of his homeland so where they understood a lot of the traditions and customs of Clover it also seemed somewhat taboo to them to indulge in such things. He smiled and looked at the mana beasts "Mistress Fù yuè, Mistress Qiūyuè might I bother you both?" he would enquire placing his right hand into his left and bowing politely clearly showing them respect "Might I request an empty book and a calligraphy set with a black ink block." his voice was warm and respectful.
He would allow the pair to reply and react before he turned to the swordswoman and bowed as she spoke to him "It's not my pen you need to worry about." he said with a chuckle as he turned back to Sumire and Jevi "The fabric is merely an incomplete vision, only a true muse and artist could bring out the true potential of its beauty." he said softly. "Also, I apologise for requesting without asking Lady Honoka, however, even you have to admit when in a lesson it is easier to take notes and pointers rather than memorising them." he said bowing to her "Besides, you seem a little out of your depth Lord Suru." he wasn't meaning to come off as mean spirited but just pointing out just how uncomfortable he looked with the entire situation. "In the east, if a noble you would have a maid serve you tea, however, if you are hosting you serve the tea to your guests. This shows your host or hostess's hospitality and allows them to remain humble, that being said a host usually will never serve themself, a guest or servant will usually do this." he informed him.
As he did he picked up the teapot and poured Sumire a cup of tea, he also placed some honey into the tea and moved into his right sleeve bringing out a small pink silk pouch, he opened it and brought out three petals of chrysanthemum placing them into the tea before offering it to her. It was clear that he knew how she enjoyed her tea and what petals would bring out the tea she often used when he visited. Once that was done he placed the silk pouch away. "Unlike here in Clover where our families come from there is a lot of ceremony even in things such as a simple cup of tea." he said picking up his cup to have another sip. He realized he was being rude as this was likely Jevi's first visit to the Honoka household.
"Young lord Akihiko is quite shy usually remaining in his room, however, when he does attempt to help serve clients it's not gone... um... as expected, even when sewing or helping the staff becomes a fiasco" in the gem smith's opinion that was putting it lightly "He is a good man and means well but I'm pretty sure he could create a disaster in an empty room." His family was close to the Honoka and they knew that when he or anyone in his family spoke on this matter it wasn't by ill intent, they had delt with Akihiko for a long time and accepted mistakes for what they were. They were no wiser that it was just an act the man put on to be left alone while he was home. "That being said he isn't home often, as he is often on the road with Liqin." he commented knowing just how many people that worked for both families were stunned and jealous.
"I worry due to who that client is and the standards that come with it." he replied to his hostess, the pair both knew what would happen if 'he' was displeased. When Jevi answered he tilted his head just slightly as he stopped drinking mid-sip "I see..." he closed his eyes and contemplated just how much work this going to add to his already incredibly busy schedule. He sighed opening his eyes "You wear your heart on your sleeve, that is going to get you shunned if not killed in our world." he stated placing the cup down. "As you have seen myself and Lady Honoka have indeed been complimenting each other but it is never straightforward because we know it is our families that decide our fates." He may have been born in Clover but he still didn't have the freedom of someone who's roots had been formed there. "The woman you care about if she truly is of our culture and her family is as strict as our own then you might be wasting your time." he said looking at him.
"My schedule is beyond chaotic between my work, lessons, training and my social life. I have very little personal time and I do not wish to squander it..." he closed his eyes and sighed pausing for a brief second "That being said, I have yet to deny Lady Honoka anything that is within my power to grant and I shant start now." he stated opening his eyes, it was clear it was going to place more strain on him but he was willing to do it because of who had asked it of him. "So, pray tell whom is it that you hurt so badly that you want to try and navigate the minefield that is our culture?" he would ask, it was clear he wouldn't progress further until he knew exactly what he was dealing with. His attention once again moved to look at Sumire as she spoke.
"Does your father know you keep doing such dangerous things Lady Honoka? I can't imagine he would be pleased and might it may prevent him from getting you a good marriage." it was clear he was concerned about her doing such things but it wasn't exactly like he could stop her. He wasn't too sure how his own father would take to such information but he doubted it would be good. That being said he had already made his wishes known it was only a matter of time before his father see it and events for good or ill would be set in motion, the pair would just have to wait.
[attr="class","raescroll"] Jevi had quietly been waiting for his chance to speak, observing Enlil and Sumire silently and trying to gather every bit of information he could from their interactions. It was obvious to him that they were fond of one another, yet with the way they spoke and complimented each other it was easy to deny it when questioned. Their compliments were heartfelt, but they were indirect which kept them from openly revealing their feelings to the world in full. Something Jevi could learn from for sure, as he was quite upfront about his feelings and thoughts. Eventually there was the moment where Enlil wanted Jevi to explain why he wanted to learn of their culture, and just as much as Jevi kept his heart on his sleeve he was also honest with his intentions at all times. Therefore he clarified that he had hurt someone in his ignorance, not just once either, and expressed that he wanted to learn of their culture to prevent this from happening again in the future. Be it with this person or anyone else of their culture, he hated the thought of his ignorance causing harm when all he had to do was learn to prevent such a thing from happening. He had little experience with the East, especially since he had spent so long in the Forsaken Region with commoners who were all Clover born. [break][break] Enlil listened respectfully and asked the mana beasts of Sumire to gather an empty book and a calligraphy set with a black ink block. His voice was warm and pleasant to listen to, and Jevi noticed that he might not have been as harsh and cold as he had initially believed. He spoke some more to Sumire before turning his attention back to Jevi, explaining that he requested the book and ink because it was easier to take notes than to memorize everything he needed to learn. Of course, Enlil easily spotted how much out of his depth Jevi was, and instead of fighting it or being offended by it Jevi simply nodded in acknowledgement of his shortcomings. “I am aware. That is why I am looking for help.” Jevi was a lot of things, but he was most certainly not stupid. Naïve at times? Absolutely. However, once he set his mind to something he would give it his all to achieve what it was he wanted. All he needed was the proper motivation. Once he was given the book and ink, he’d ensure he made notes of anything that Enlil and Sumire taught him. The first lesson was about tea. A host would serve their guests, and would be served by a servant themselves. “Alright, understood.” He wrote it down neatly, but as quickly as possible, as he did not want to waste Enlil’s time by being slow. [break][break] There was a lot of ceremony in the East, which is something he had already realized. The thing is that he had been struggling trying to learn all the rules and such that came with it. There were so many, it was easy to get lost in them when learning from books on his own. He learned quite a bit, but nothing topped learning it from someone like Enlil firsthand. Enlil spoke some more of Sumire’s younger brother Akihiko. Apparently, Enlil thought of him as quite a klutz, but Jevi could not give an opinion on someone he had not met before. Sumire certainly seemed to believe in his skills. Regardless of all that, Akihiko was a good man, though he was not home often as he travelled with Liqin a lot. “That must be hard on him.” If someone so shy had to travel with someone so outgoing it could not be easy, though it was not really Jevi’s place to be concerned about the young man. It was, however, in his nature to worry regardless. That was simply the kind of man he was. [break][break] Again, a comment was made on how Jevi wore his heart on his sleeve. A soft sigh escaped his lips, there was no use trying to hide it or deny it. Even when he tries, he could not hide his feelings it seemed. “I’m aware.” The consequences could be damned. They were worth the risk if it meant he could be a friend to Hinota. There were many things he had noticed about the girl. The way she solemnly spoke of her home. Of her position. Even of her betrothed. Hinota may have believed that Jevi noticed nothing of the sort, but he had. He had no clue about the details, but he could tell there was a deep unhappiness inside of her and if he would be able to ease that burden even a little bit he would be happy. Enlil explained what Jevi had already gathered from his observation earlier, but the white-haired swordsman wrote down the information either way. In the end it was their families who decided if they could be together, and if the woman he spoke of was of a family even half as strict he might be wasting his time all together. The comment cut deep, because he knew that Hinota’s family was even more strict than Enlil’s or Sumire’s, possibly even more so than both of them combined. “I’d rather waste years of my life than to not try at all…” It was soft-spoken, yet the determination was clear in his voice for all to hear. That is how much he cared for her. [break][break] Of course, it would not just be his own time he would be wasting. He would also be wasting Enlil’s time. “I understand, Lord Yinsil. I do not wish to waste your time, so I promise I will give it my all so long as you are willing to teach me. I will take what I can get, even if it is only the basic lessons I will leave with today. Anything is better than nothing.” Thankfully he wished to not let Sumire down, and as such he was willing to help Jevi out with learning about their culture. He was simply lucky that Enlil had a soft spot for Sumire, that was all. However, when asked who it was exactly who he had hurt so badly and wanted to learn for, Jevi had to gulp. He did not look away from Enlil, but there was a pit in his stomach as he knew once he spoke her name there was no way to go back on his word. “It’s Hinota Yuiee…” Immediately following he knew he had to clarify his intentions, otherwise Enlil would certainly stop helping him. “I understand her position. I understand she’s betrothed to another. As I stated before to Lady Honoka, my goal is not to win her over for myself. I know that will never happen, but-” His hand free hand tightened in a fist as a way to relief stress, his knuckles turning white. “I wish to be able to be her friend, because she has been a great friend to me.” Jevi was aware what he was going up against, but it was also clear that he was determined to face any hurdle needed to reach his goals. Nothing would sway him from it, so even if he could not find any help here he would find it elsewhere or learn by himself.

Sumire watched them both as she saw enlil turn to her manabeasts bowing in respect as he requested a empty book and a calligraphy set with a black ink block from them
"understood" Spoke Qiūyuè getting up from her pillow as Fù yuè follow suit both rushing out of the room soon to return with the items requested as they returned to their seats, beaming with happiness to be of help. It did warm sumire's heart to watch them enjoy and respect enlil. They were often the better ones to judging people and how they acted. After all these two were like her daughters and like sisters to the rest of the family. [break][break] Shi opened one of her steel blue eyes as she chuckled lightly in response of his acknowledgement as she closed her eyes, remaining relaxed but forever ready to attack if needed. she knew she wasn't needed for such in this situtation but it had happened before. however so far, she has not needed to draw blood against anyone just yet. [break][break] Sumire smiled as she shaked her head " No it is alright, the girl are more then willing to help you as much as they can"said Sumire with a smile "It is what they look forward too whenever they catch word you or aki are here."She said happily as she watched enlil speak of his lessons as she watched him pour her tea before adding honey and a few petals of chrysanthemum in it as she thanked him silently sipping the tea listening to him and jevi speak together. she listened about akihiko as she giggled lightly. Her brother was a master at his craft. only a select few seems to know the truth about him and what he does. to those who don't. he is just her clumsy little brother. Even liqin is something else entirely to her. someone she helped creat for her brother. she might play dumb when it comes to liqin but that was her her and her brother. [break][break] It was then she heard enlil's concern. she looked at the tea in her hand in thought "he might be displeased but...I feel I am right in trying to help those of clover become more...Welcoming of our culture and traditions. Nothing I had shown or he seen is anything different from what he will find in clover or just asking around. I hope the fates will be kind on this curious heart of mine that wants to help mend those who seek my aide."She spoke. While it can come back to bite her, a simple lesson in their culture wasn't some seek to kill for. Surely trying to adjust and make some contacts in clover would benefit her. The spirits know she spent most of her day in her warehouse of a workshop tending to the one client 4 times a year. It was a wonder if she would ever be able to leave the grounds or be married by how much she tends to her work over a social life. [break][break] She brought the tea cup to her lips taking in a sip as she heard who his crush was as she calmly sat down her cup quickly covering her mouth with a tissue as she misswallowed her tea. "I am Sorry. you mean Princess yuiee...Jevi...I mean lord Suru...That is a minefield even I cant fathom how to navigate. I have spent time with his highness, the Imperial Prince Jirou, and I have spent a day at the request of the princess. Such things are taboo to interfer..'She spoke before looking down at her sleeve covered hands. "For what it is worth or what it might matter...She is willing to be a friend to those who are willing to hear her...just....keep your heart close and open your ears.. That is the best I can even give to such a situation. Any further involvement can cause loose lips to make waves for those acrosss the seas."She spoke looking up at him. [break][break] "For further involvement. I have to speak with my father upon this matter...for the sake of our house, Our clan back home and the house upon this soil."She apologized before turning to enlil "I honestly did not expect for someone to come forth to me on such a matter. I am deeply sorry to have troubled you for coming on my behalf today Lord yinsil."She spoke turning to enlil as she rested her hands together on the ground infront of her bowing low "Forgive me for bring such issues for you."She spoke.
The second is that if an attack gets close a thick bamboo-like forest made from topaz sprouts around the wearer. [attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]Enlil remained still watching as the two mana beasts ran off to obtain the items he had requested. His eyes went to Shi for a moment before returning back to Jevi and Sumire, after he spoke to explain why he requested the items Jevi broke the silence and was glad that Jevi didn't take offence or fight the reason why the objects had been requested. It caused fewer issues in the long run as far as he was concerned. "I am glad you can understand why I requested aid be brought, it is easier to revise from something physical rather than relying on your memory." It wasn't meant as an insult it was just a matter of fact that memories for most people would fade or warp in time. Enlil could tell that once the swordsman decided to do something then he was going to see it through so that worked in his favour.
The two mana beasts returned with the items he had requested the items that Enlil had requested before they were handed to him he motioned for them to be given to Jevi. Enlil would take the ink block, the grinding stone and water and create the ink for Jevi, not because he didn't believe that he couldn't do it but because it wasn't like this was common in the West. It also allowed Jevi to observe how much water to use when creating ink if he did it in the future. "My apologies, I just realised you likely don't write with brushes like we do, would you prefer a quill? Or I could write the notes for you" he offered. He had then explained how tea was served "Some nobles would just have maids pour for everyone but it comes down to the individual noble." he said calmly.
He observed as Jevi wrote quickly and sighed "Do you have another appointment Lord Suru? I would hate to keep you." he commented showing that given how fast he was moving it gave off the impression that he didn't actually want to be there. "I understand that you do not wish to waste our time, however, we have cleared our schedules for this meeting so we have nowhere else to be." he informed him showing that Jevi could take his time and ask for things to be repeated or additional questions, it honestly didn't bother him and he knew Sumire was content to spend some additional time with him. "In honesty, I wouldn't know if it is hard on him." he said honestly "He tends to be quite the introvert, likely because of people shooing him away." he said thoughtfully, in truth, Aki just enjoyed his own company when at home.
He brought up his hand and chuckled lightly hearing the sigh "It takes practice to hide one's heart especially when at times in your own culture it is actually better to do so." he said calmly "It was a balancing act I too had to master and it was not an easy lesson, it still isn't a steady path." he said sighing a little. "Commoners and children are more open with their hearts, as you go further up the social ladder the less you will find it because it could have severe consequences." he informed him "And at the imperial level it is a very deadly game to do so." he warned showing why Hinota especially couldn't be so reckless. He listened to his words remaining quiet as he analyzed everything up to this point, he had to ask the question of who he was learning for.
"I am thankful that you do not wish to waste our times." he said hearing his words, he was still pondering if this was indeed worth the little time he had spare. He observed the gulp and listened as he spoke the one word that he didn't want to hear "You mean the imperial princess Hinota Yuiee." his eyes wide clearly caught off guard, her eyes going to Sumire wondering if she knew this was the case. He brought his left hand up to his head rubbing his temple as he muttered something quietly. Sumire broke the tension as she answered his question "I am quite sure you are looking on the bright side of things there Lady Honoka." he said knowing how their fathers were in general. "I am sure the gods will match you to the one that will treasure you how you deserve." he said warmly.
It had been a small distraction but even Sumire seemed to realize that they needed to deal with the elephant in the room. "The imperial courts are indeed a battlefield you do not wish to go near if you aren't prepared." he explained to him "And it is far above what we can provide." he confessed, his eyes going to Sumire he brought his hand up as she apologised for bothering him about this, that she wouldn't have had she known. He raised his hand a little showing he was dismissing it. "We can not and will not endanger my families or home in teaching you..." he began taking his cup and bringing it up to take a sip "That being said I am willing to teach basics, however, I request for my sanity and the safety for the lady and myself you do not say that again and merely say you are interested in learning in other cultures." he said wanting to help but it would need to be done carefully
"We can't help in matters when it comes to the imperial court and the likes so you will need to find a different teacher but I would suggest not bringing up the princess" he said with a quiet tone "But I doubt our fathers will have a problem in us helping someone who is interested in learning a new culture if we ask them to put it into our schedules." he said showing that there was a loophole.
[attr="class","raescroll"] Jevi smiled and nodded at Enlil’s explanation on why he had requested the book and ink for him. It was easier to read and revise than to learn from memory, and Jevi knew that all too well. There was a reason he had so many books and kept reading them for his enjoyment. Most of them had personal notes in them of his thoughts on the matter as well, making the books a true guide into his headspace. Of course, Jevi was not acquainted with a brush to write with, being used to a quill, and Enlil realized this as well. The man offered the alternative, yet Jevi shook his head and took the brush. “It is simply another thing to learn, I’ll get the hang of it. Thank you for your concern though, Lord Yinsil.” This was another thing that could help him understand the Eastern culture, and it was something he’d embrace rather than toss to the side. It was certainly not easy, but he was quite dexterous with his hands due to all his training with swords. As such, he could make it work well enough for the time being. [break][break] While listening to Lord Yinsil’s lesson on tea and how it was served in their culture, Jevi neatly yet quickly wrote down the notes. His haste was noticed by Enlil, as he wondered if Jevi had another appointment to get to. “Oh no, I cleared my entire day for this. I am attempting to write quickly so I can give you both my full attention, instead of being focused on the paper. That is what my teachers in my childhood required of me.” Apparently, that was another difference in their cultures? Or perhaps it was just his teachers? They always demanded he kept his attention on them, and so he had learned to write down notes as quickly as possible, sometimes even without looking at the paper. It seemed Lord Yinsil had different thoughts on the matter, and so Jevi slowed down to show that he did respect the man and his traditions. “My apologies for the misunderstanding, Lord Yinsil.” He gave the man a gentle smile, as he truly did feel comfortable around both him and Lady Honoka. They had been patient and kind, giving him the room to learn and pointing out when and if he made mistakes according to their culture. It gave him the opportunity to adapt, and that was something he was quite good at as long as he knew what to adapt to. [break][break] While Enlil and Sumire talked about more about Sumire’s brother Aki, Jevi checked his notes and cleaned them up a bit with the brush, finding it easier and easier to write with the longer he used it. It really wasn’t so bad. Then their conversation continued, and Jevi sighed at the mention of keeping his heart hidden. He could not even keep count on how many times he had been told the same thing anymore, but Enlil seemed to find it quite humorous as the man chuckled. His words, however, were far from mockery as he admitted he had struggled with the balancing act himself as well. In his own culture it was sometimes even the better thing to do to show one’s heart, and so that brought a whole different level of difficulty to it for Jevi. The more you went up the social ladder, the more it was important to safeguard your true feelings as there could be severe consequences if one didn’t. At the imperial level, which was where Hinota sat, it was even worse and possibly deadly if you weren’t careful enough. “I appreciate the uplifting words, Lord Yinsil. To learn I am not alone in this struggle means a lot, and I will improve. It just needs time.” This was not something he could learn overnight, as it went against his nature, but he knew he would get better at it as time went on. [break][break] Now came the moment of truth, as Enlil wondered who the girl was he was trying to learn for. This would determine whether or not it was worth Enlil’s time to teach him, or if it was a lost cause from the start. Jevi reassured him that he did not want to waste his time, or his own, and would take anything he could get from both him and Lady Honoka. Enlil was thankful for this, yet his face clearly showed he was caught off guard when Jevi mentioned it was all for Hinota Yuiee. Even Sumire was surprised, using his first name before recovering herself and stating that was way out of their leagues. Still, Jevi nodded in confirmation to Enlil. “Yes, that is the woman I’m talking about…” He tried to plead for his case, explaining he knew his limitations and therefore had to focus on being a friend of hers rather than anything more. [break][break] Sumire tried to break the tension, telling him to keep his heart close and ears open when interacting with Hinota as that would mean she’d be willing to be his friend. “She’s already a friend, and I am certain she feels the same way about me in that regard.” Jevi smiled shyly, a light blush coloring his cheek, mumbling. “She worries for me, cares for me, soothes me… She’s even hugged me to comfort me when I needed it most. I know how sensitive touch is within your culture, especially at her station. She has quite literally told me so in no uncertain terms, and yet… On her own volition she hugged me, she pokes my face when she needs my attention much in the same way you did, Lady Honoka. There were even times she did not shy away from my touch either. There’s no way she does not see me as a friend if she is willing to be so close to me regardless of our misunderstandings and her culture’s believes. That’s why I need to do better, so I can return the favor without getting her in trouble.” It was slightly embarrassing to talk about, yet all these moments he had shared with Hinota made his heart flutter. That feeling alone overpowered all the rational thoughts of leaving her and saving himself the trouble. She was worth the trouble, simple as that. [break][break] Enlil was far less positive, telling Sumire she was looking at the bright side like that. The man was kind, though, and reassured Jevi he would find someone who would treasure his heart in the way the swordsman deserved. “I hope so. I am doing all I can to grow past my feelings for Lady Yuiee, but after everything I cannot just give up on her and stop seeing her. It may be hard, but I will not give up.” These were the moments where Jevi’s stubbornness became his strength. The willingness to never give up no matter the odds is what set him apart from most. There had only been one time he had given up, and that was due to the abuse from his father becoming too much. Even then, he continued to grow in his own way while he lived in the Forsaken Region and had now made his way back ready to face the dance he needed to in order to become the man he desired to be. [break][break] However, that did not change the fact that the imperial court was a battlefield Jevi could not go into if he was unprepared, and it was far above what Enlil and Sumire could help him with. It could endanger their families and home, and Jevi nodded in understanding. “I would never ask either of you to risk such things for my sake. I fully understand.” He would not dare push for something like this, but was happy to hear Enlil’s next words. Jevi bowed towards Enlil in gratitude as he spoke. “Thank you so much. Just know I have been exceptionally careful with mentioning her name, Lord Yinsil. Trust me, I understand how much trouble it could get her into, or anyone else I involve. Lady Honoka knows this to be true. As you saw, she had no idea who this was about. The only other people who have an idea would be my parents as they’ve seen us interact, and Lady Yuiee’s retainers.” Those were the only people who would know anything about his feelings towards Hinota, and no one else was going to know if it was up to him. Enlil had nothing to worry about on that front. [break][break] Jevi sat up from his bow once more, and listened to Enlil’s explanation. They could not help him with the imperial court, so he would need to find another teacher for that. However, they could help him with Eastern culture in general so long as they told their fathers it was simply to help Jevi learn about it in general. They should have no issue with someone showing genuine interest in their culture, and should be alright with Lady Honoka and Lord Yinsil making time in their schedules to help Jevi with that. “You have no idea how grateful I am for all of your help. I will be forever in your debt, and as such if there is ever anything you are in need of all you need to do is ask and I will do anything within my ability to help. That goes for the both of you.” That was the least he could do for them after they heard him out. Just hearing him out already put them at risk, and Jevi appreciated it more than he could ever put into words. “The basic lessons will be a great starting point regardless, and should be of tremendous help to me. I will figure out the rest as I go, but with care and patience.” There was no need to rush anything, after all. It was more important to him to ensure that no one around him got into trouble for his selfish desires. That meant he needed to carefully think about every step he took from here on out.
