[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The day had started like any other, she woke before dawn, undressed out of her night clothing, bathed, dressed, hair, makeup, and jewellery but as she was about to start eating her father barged into her palace and he was furious. It made her flinch, even cower from the man she remembered the last time she had seen him so angry and she didn't want to repeat that moment in her history. Without words he threw a letter to her, she seemed confused but picked it up and brought it out of the envelope. It was clear that she didn't recognise the handwriting, while she read her father demanded that everyone leave them which they did without argument, this was something that made her so much nervous as everything now was behind closed doors. Still, she remained silent and read over the letter and trembled as she read. [break][break] It was from Daiki Suru, Jevi's father. It spoke of her actions the last time she had been at the Suru estate, it had been truthful to the timeline of events that had happened but it exaggerated how she had acted. "Father... I..." she managed to get out before his glare shut her up quickly "I don't want to hear it Hinota, you acted shamefully in a noble's household. Did you stop to think how this would look on our family?" he would ask his voice seething "Y... yes b... bu..." he brought up his hand as if showing he didn't want to hear her spin any tales. She felt so small and alone right now, she wouldn't dare defy her father and she knew attempting to stop any punishment would just make matters worse. "I don't want to hear it." he said his voice showing he was angry. [break][break] "You are lucky you aren't being beaten or grounded." he said pinching the bridge of his nose unable to believe that his beautiful child was once again being disobedient and defiant "Your brother's care for you so and so stood up for you, they suggested I reach out to the lord Suru as he was the one you insulted and I have done just that." he said this made her eyes go wide a little, the man was a monster there was no other word for him and she didn't like how this was going. "I asked how would he like me to correct this misunderstanding between her families and he wishes merely for you to apologise for being ill-mannered and so this is what you will be doing until he is appeased." he said his tone showing that this wasn't up for discussion. Her heart was pounding as she attempted to prevent herself from shaking. [break][break] "Yes Father, I will remain within the Suru family estate until Lord Suru is happy I have made amends for my shameful behaviour." she whispered not daring to even look up. She knew what would likely happen the moment she spoke out against Jevi's father and yet it hadn't stopped her. Jevi needed that push to know he was stronger than he believed himself and that he could achieve what he wanted even if it aligned at times with his father's wants. She didn't expect him to be so bold and exaggerate just how outspoken and disrespectful she had been but honestly, she knew she should have expected something like this. "I will prepare to leave right away." she whispered "If I hear you have disrespected anyone ever again not even your brothers will be able to save you." he growled leaving without waiting for a reply. [break][break] Tears fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks, but as she heard people approach she stopped and wiped the tears away smiling. "I am going to be away from home for a while, please get my carriage and essentials ready." she said to one of her maids watching as she quietly bowed and moved away quickly to do her task with the help of others. "I wasn't prepared to go back so soon... I don't have a gift ready." she whispered to herself "I can bring tea to the lady suru but the lord suru..." she said thoughtfully "He believes himself powerful and in control." she said to herself "The dragon represents power, control, and imperial authority." she didn't believe she needed to make this man a gift. "Yellow symbolizes power and authority..." she sighed something this complex she wasn't going to have embroidered by the time she got to the Suru estate. [break][break] "Still... penance has to be paid..." it was difficult for her but she didn't regret the actions she took that day. She stood moving to get the items she needed for Lady Suru and for what she would need to craft lord Suru's gift before heading to her carriage when it was ready. She was surprised to see Junjie there, he bowed which she returned before he helped her into her carriage before closing the door and getting onto his horse riding alongside her silently. He noticed that she had begun embroidering the moment the carriage was in movement. He didn't know everything that was going on for sure but he knew it wasn't good when he heard where they were heading. This was going to be an absolute nightmare to deal with for him as soon as his student found out but he would have to deal with it when the time came. [break][break] He hadn't pushed his lady to speak on anything not that he believed that she would even if asked so left her be to concentrate on what she was doing. The journey was uneventful but they did stop once or twice to allow the horses to drink and the coachman to walk around to stretch his legs. He had asked Hinota if she would like to walk around, but she declined continuing to concentrate on what she was doing. Soon enough they made it to the Suru family estate, she placed what she was doing away and waited for her door to open before she exited and walked towards the estate. Junjie quietly walked behind her hoping that they wouldn't need to be there for too long but he knew that likely wouldn't be the case due to how vindictive the elder man was.

Kikka is a town known to be the defensive foot-hold for the Clover Kingdom, it is the town that sits in the grey area of what could be considered the noble region and the common region. It is due to this that there is a diverse range of people and backgrounds that called this place home. [break][break] A young fire mage found himself getting into trouble when he decided to steal some vegetables from a garden of jewellers. The mother of the family was the one that caught him and even told the boy and his mother that they just needed to ask due to them having more than enough. It was the beginning of a new bond between the family and the fire mage. [break][break] Over time the boy grew and where he was wanting to learn the next flashy fire move from the former purple orca. She would tell him that he needed to learn how to walk before he tried to run or those he cared about would get burned by those same flames that treasured so much. Of course, being young he didn't understand what she was getting at. [break][break] The woman's husband attempted to teach the street smart and somewhat rough male his craft. He, of course, got bored real quickly because crafting jewellery was a slow process that often was very detail orientated. Still, the man tried. On the day the fire mage was scheduled to leave Kikka for the exams the man called the young mage into his workshop. [break][break] He was just finishing up a double ring set and told him to put every wish and promise he could into a single flame and release it onto the ring. Somewhat sceptical the fire mage did what he was asked and thought it was for some sort of trinket for the woman that had helped him grow. The man placed the ring into a box and handed it to the budding mage. [break][break] "Valo, we see you as our son and we are proud to see the man you've grown into. You've helped create something that is unique and special, keep it with you and give it to someone that you believe deserves what you put into it." [break][break] The now young man gave bravado with his normal attitude but took the ring. He held onto it for three years until something terrible happened. The family that he had loved so much was taken from him. The one that had seen him at his most vulnerable and had helped him through the grief was a young woman. A woman who themselves couldn't fight due to their beliefs. [break][break] He remembered the ring from all those years ago and offered it to her, telling her if she was ever in danger just to call him and he'd come running.

[attr="class","raescroll"] For the past month, the living situation in the Suru estate had been tense to say the least. Jevi had done his best to ignore it, going out for work and training as much as he could. The younger Suru had no clue why things felt off, but it did make him anxious and worried. The same went for his mother, Saki, who had tried to figure out what was going on together with her son, yet neither could come to a conclusion. The only one who knew what was going on was Daiki, and the man grew more irritated and impatient by the day as if he was waiting for something to happen. Jevi surmised that he might just be annoyed with the fact that Jevi was not falling back under the man’s control. For someone who had been in charge for most of his son’s life, suddenly losing that control might have upset him. However, the real reason that Daiki was getting impatient is because he was waiting for word from Hinota’s father. After plotting how to get back at both Jevi and Hinota, he had decided to write the man a letter about his daughter’s disrespectful behavior on his estate. While he had embellished the story a bit, the core of the matter was still truthful as he could not risk a lie coming out even if her father would believe his word over Hinota’s. [break][break] Finally, he had received word from her father and the letter made him grin ear to ear. He was asked what the proper compensation was, and of course Daiki returned a letter by asking Hinota to simply come over to his estate and apologize in person for her shameful behavior. The reason behind this was to get back at Jevi. His son would have to witness first hand the humiliation that Hinota would have to go through, and considering the feelings Jevi held for the young woman that would be the worst hell imaginable for him. By showing this power to his son, he would be able to force him into submission by threatening to do it again in the future. Making Hinota pay for his disobedience and rebellious nature was going to be much more effective than trying to beat sense into him. Jevi had always been like that, and while Daiki was aware of it he never figured he’d have to resort to these matters to get his son under his thumb. [break][break] Though due to Hinota’s interference, Jevi had grown into himself more than he had anticipated. Yes, he was struggling, but he was standing his ground more than he had in the past and even talked back in a manner that made it hard to argue. He had become far more articulate, and had started to learn how to play the political game slowly but surely. That’s why Daiki had to reach for even more underhanded methods to get his control back and ensure Jevi knew his place. He was too far into this to change his perspective anymore, and admitting his own mistakes was something Daiki would never do because of that. [break][break] The day would of Hinota’s visit would follow rather quickly after Daiki had been able to get in touch with her father. The man certainly did not waste time, and the only reason he had been late in his reply was due to being away on a mission. Daiki had to ensure that Jevi saw all of this firsthand from start to finish, and so he summoned Edgar to his side. “Edgar, go fetch Jevi if you would be so kind. He needs to be here for a certain visit.” There was a grin on the man’s face as Edgar bowed to his employer and dutifully went about his tasks. “As you wish, Lord Suru.” The butler had a bad feeling about what was going to go down, and so did Saki who had witnessed the interaction between her husband and their servant. “Who is visiting today? I was not aware we were having guests.” Daiki turned to his wife, that same grin still on his face as he spoke nonchalantly about what was to happen. “Oh, Princess Yuiee is coming over to apologize for her appalling behavior during her last visit. Is that not kind of her?” There was a mocking tone to his voice, as Saki’s face fell and realized what Daiki was going to make Jevi walk into. “You did not…” Daiki’s eyes turned stern, showing that he was serious. “Did you believe I was going to let such disrespect go unpunished? I will set this whole thing straight today, and there’s nothing you or Jevi can do about it.” Saki was panicking, but did not show it. She could not warn Jevi in time, and even if she did everything had already been set in motion. All she could do was attempt to support her son through this, but she did not know how which just made her feel even worse. [break][break] Jevi was currently out back in the stable, tending to Jasmine as it was about time he did so again. He was in the middle of brushing her mane, humming softly to himself as Jasmine was relaxed and let him spoil her. As he did so, Jasmine moved her head closer to Jevi so she could rest it on his shoulder and press her head against his a little. Jevi chuckled softly as she did this, speaking in a warm, affectionate tone. “Why thank you, you make it a lot easier like this, girl.” It just meant her mane was closer, so he could properly take care of his white mare. These were the moments where Jevi felt at peace, and could put his problems and issues to rest. His focus was entirely with Jasmine, however his peace would soon be disturbed as Edgar came into the stables, looking quite distraught. “Lord Suru…” Jevi turned to look at the man who had worked for his family for longer than he had been alive. “What’s the matter, Edgar? You look upset.” Edgar bowed in apology before standing up straight and speaking once more. “I’m not entirely sure, but your father has requested your presence in the living room for a certain visit.” Jevi tilted his head quizzically, wondering what this could be about. [break][break] He put the brush down and nuzzled the side of Jasmine’s head, whispering to his mare. “I’ll be back later, okay girl? I’ll even braid your mane to make up for it.” He smiled as he felt Jasmine press her head back against his, patted her and then turned away to return to the estate. He put his jacket back on, and walked alongside Edgar as he fixed it. “Thank you for coming to get me, Edgar.” The old man smiled, much preferring his younger Lord and Mistress than his actual employer. “Of course, my Lord. You may always count on me.” Jevi returned the man’s smile, knowing full well that Edgar spoke the truth. [break][break] It would not take long before Jevi and Edgar returned to the living room of the estate, and he could notice the tension had gotten worse than it had been. His mother looked pale, as if she had seen a ghost, and his father just looked like he had won some kind of bet, all smug and proud. Jevi looked from his distressed mother to his father before speaking. “Father, why did you call for me? Who is visiting?” Daiki kept that annoying grin on his face as he addressed his son. “They should be here any moment now.” And right he was, as a maid came up and informed him the guests had arrived. “Take a seat with your mother. I’ll be back in a moment.” Jevi was unsure of what was going on, but decided to wait and see for the time being and took a seat next to his mother. [break][break] As Daiki went to fetch Hinota, Jevi took the opportunity to speak to his mother. “Mom, what’s going on?” Saki frowned and moved her hand over to Jevi’s, taking it in her own and squeezing it. “The one visiting is Lady Yuiee, she is here to apologize for her behavior during her last visit… Your father contacted hers to straighten this out.” Jevi’s eyes widened, as everything now finally clicked into place for him. That’s why his father had been so impatient and irritated, and looked so smug just now. “He did what?!” The flash of anger in Jevi’s eyes was unmistakable, but Saki just squeezed his hand harder. “Keep calm. I know you can do this.” Saki tried her best to support her son, and Jevi nodded as he took a deep breath to prepare himself. [break][break] While Jevi and Saki were waiting in the living room, Daiki had gone to the front of the estate and saw Hinota and Junjie coming out of the carriage. “Welcome, Princess Yuiee. Lord Bai. I am glad to see your father has received my letters. I was worried there for a second that he would ignore the shameful behavior of his daughter, but I had expected no less from a man of his stature to want to right these wrongs. I know what it’s like to have a rebellious child, as you know.” Even if he addressed them with proper titles, it was abundantly clear from his tone of voice that he was mocking them and the situation they found themselves in, knowing there was little they could do about it. He could quite easily deny it too if called out on it. “Please, follow me inside. This is no place for a proper apology.” And as such, Daiki lead the two to the living room. From the look on Jevi’s face, Daiki could already tell that Saki had told him what was going on, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that Jevi would witness the full process of his beloved Princess getting humiliated, and making him understand what was at stake if he did not start to listen. He took a seat in his chair, crossing his right leg over his left and folding his hands together. “Now, I am curious to hear what you have to say for yourself.” Jevi could deck his father in his face right now, and the fire in behind his eyes was unmistakable. Yet, he could do nothing. If he acted out now, things would get worse for Hinota, and that’s something he had to avoid at all costs. Thankfully, Junjie was here too, which was somewhat of a relief.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Junjie and Hinota didn't know what to expect as they entered the Suru family estate. Junjie himself remained completely silent for a moment just observing those he could see doing their duties on the grounds "The air is far different than our last visit." he commented quietly causing Hinota to look at him "There's going to be, the master and young master of the house are currently like two dragons fighting for control." she said softly a smile on her face, she silently sighed knowing that she had brought such disharmony to the household and it likely had everyone within walking on eggshells. "You shouldn't blame yourself for something that was already broken." he said knowing his lady all too well. "Are you truly prepared for what is about to come your way?" he asked his tone calm and quiet almost as if he didn't want anyone to hear. [break][break] He would take her from here, and now all she had to do was say the words, but he knew her, and she wasn't one to abandon her responsibilities. "I am prepared to see this to the end Junjie. Don't allow him to buckle regardless of what happens..." she stopped to look up at the man who had cared for her for as long as she could remember. He nodded quietly as if the rest of the words had been passed through other means. "As you wish." he said simply taking the tea from her as they walked towards Suru's front door. What they were met with wasn't entirely unexpected after all the man had orchestrated this entire stage of events. Standing at the top of the stairs as if he were some emperor was Jevi's father and current head of the Suru family, Daiki. [break][break] The pair seemed unphased by the entire situation, they did take notice that he looked like a cat that had eaten a canary. Silently they listened as Daiki welcomed them, yet by his tone it was easy to tell he was attempting to get under their skin. Hinota remained with a smile on her face almost as if she was an airhead that didn't understand while Junjie remained neutral on the matter. "My father sends his heartfelt apologies for his late response Lord Suru..." she began her tone almost timid as she spoke "He said an esteemed man like yourself would understand the heavy burden of responsibility not only to the kingdom but to one's family and having to make sure it was progressing successfully." she hated saying such words, it made her feel like she wanted to throw up but they appeared completely sincere thanks to how she was soft-spoken. [break][break] "My father never dismisses disobedience or shameful behaviour of anyone within our home, even less so from those within his own family." she said wanting to grip onto her sleeves but forcing herself not to. "Father says to do so would allow corruption and rot to take root and it would weaken our family to the point it would crumble into ruin." she said looking away a little, it was always the reason she was told she couldn't leave her family estate previously. She wanted to yell at him for what he said about Jevi, he wasn't at all rebellious he was only now starting to find his own feet, his own balance and this egotistical monster wanted to destroy it all over again because he was losing his own footing and balance because he couldn't dream of letting go of that control and supporting his son in his endeavours as he believed he knew best. [break][break] "I can't say that I do, I am not yet a mother let alone one to a fine son learning about the world." she said her smile returning as she twisted his own words against him in such a way that they couldn't be argued with. He was speaking of children with her and Jevi was three years her senior. Even though he was mocking them and the situation they currently found themselves in she remained completely unphased. "If that is what you would prefer Lord Suru, please lead the way." she said calmly, she looked back at Junjie with a knowing glance. She had already suspected that she was being used as a pawn in a larger game of chess, the problem was she had already been ahead of him as she had foreseen this being a possibility the last time she had been there. [break][break] The pair followed Daiki their eyes ahead of them the entire time, as soon as they walked into the living room and saw not only Saki but Jevi there she knew Daiki had played right into her hand, she also knew this was about to get a lot more messy. Jevi would be able to see that though this situation should have made her anxious given she had seen what his father was like the last time she visited she was completely at peace. Her eyes moved to Daiki as he spoke after sitting down. She could tell how smug he was feeling thanks to his posture. She first bowed to Daiki, then Saki and finally Jevi as was proper "Lady Suru, I brought you some tea as I promised, I hope you will enjoy it." she said, as she did Junjie walked forward with several small porcelain jars in a carry case for the woman to take. [break][break] Her eyes then went to Daiki "This trip was impromptu so I have no gift prepared for you at current, I did start it on my journey here and will give it to you once complete. I will admit, I do not know how long it will take." she said her tone respectful on the matter, she wasn't a perfectionist by any means but she had been taught to take her crafts seriously and what she was doing wasn't as simple as a small flower. Even as she spoke she knew that wasn't what he wanted, he wanted the apology, to humiliate her for her actions and in turn make his son a puppet once more. He wanted, no demanded respect he believed he deserved as if it was some unspoken law inside this house merely due to his namesake. She once again bowed to Daiki lower than she previously had. [break][break] "I have come today to make amends for my shameful behaviour towards you and your family Lord Suru in regards to my last visit..." she began, her voice held respect as she spoke. "I misguidingly involved myself in your family matters which I had no right in doing..." she continued her tone unchanging "I assure you my intentions were pure as I believed that I was helping your son young Lord Suru, but I have come to understand this wasn't the case and all I have done was sow seeds of discontent." she said continued her tone changing slightly showing remorse "This discontent sown by my reckless actions has created an unbalance and disharmony not only in your home but within your family and for that I apologise for my actions and request a chance to make amends not only for my sin against your family but to rectify the blemish I have caused on my own due to my naive actions." she said her voice calm, she knew this was far from over but she needed to play the part and trust that Junjie would do what was required on his.

[attr="class","raescroll"] As Daiki greeted Hinota and Junjie, he did not exactly get the response he was hoping to get out of her. If she did not fall into despair in front of Jevi, then getting control back over his son may not be as easy. Then again, everything had only just begun, he just needed to see how long she could keep up this façade she put on of being stupid. He had met her once and knew better than that, but he decided to play along at least a little bit. To hear her father apologized for the late response, and hearing the man’s praises, made Daiki nod in understanding. “I most certainly do, and understand the struggles like no other. I have the utmost respect for your father.” In his eyes, Hinota’s father had succeeded where he had not, as Hinota obediently did what was asked of her and yet he was stuck with a selfish son who only thought about his own wants and needs. He could not agree more with Hinota’s father that allowing disobedience only rotted a family from the inside. Sadly, Jevi seemed to think otherwise. “It truly can, your father is a wise man.” He did not seem to realize that he himself was the corruption bringing his family to ruin. [break][break] When he brought Jevi down once more with his words, it seemed Hinota was able to turn his words against him, but in such a manner that he could not really refute them either. It brought a slight frown to his face, but he reminded himself that he still held all the cards. “Our definition of a “fine son” seems to be quite different. Yet, I will chalk that up to your understandable inexperience.” He was not going to let this woman praise his son just like that, when the whole purpose of today was to break him down into a willing puppet. Jevi needed to be reminded of his position within the family, which boiled down to nothing more than a tool to elevate the family name of Suru within Clover. While it was true that Jevi had begun to make a proper career for himself, it was not under his control and that’s where Daiki’s issue was. He wanted that control over his son back, by any means necessary. So, he brought Hinota and Junjie inside to where Jevi would already be waiting alongside Saki. The retainer did not bother Daiki much, as he knew the man could not step out of line either for fear what it could mean for his mistress. The same went for Jevi himself, so none of them could do much of anything to take away his control of the situation. [break][break] As they entered the living room, Jevi was obviously tense. He knew what was going to happen, and he knew he was powerless to stop it too. The fact his father had orchestrated all of this behind his back really did not sit well with him, not to mention bringing ther people and families into their dispute. This was between them, yet his father had no backbone to actually face him on his own now that Jevi had learned to stand up for himself unlike when he was a mere child. However, one glance at Hinota seemingly being so peaceful did help him relax, and it even brought a smile to his face. Just seeing her alone did that, regardless of the situation it seemed. Since Daiki had been watching his son’s reactions closely, he noticed and felt an anger rise within him. Why was he smiling? That was not according to his plans. [break][break] Saki had noticed too, and while Daiki didn’t understand his mother certainly did as she too saw that Hinota looked like she was at peace. Saki smiled warmly to the young woman offering her some more of the special tea. Even in this situation, she was exceptionally thoughtful and kind. “Thank you, dear. I certainly hope we will be sharing some stories over tea once more in the near future.” To Saki the relationship between Jevi and Hinota did not really play into her own with the Princess. She enjoyed being around the young woman, and saw her as a friend. She gratefully accepted the carry case from Junjie, giving the man a subtle apologetic smile for the situation they found themselves in. [break][break] The interaction between his mother and Hinota helped Jevi keep his calm a bit longer than he had expected. To hear that she had even been preparing a gift for his father, however, was agitating to say the least. Daiki deserved no such niceness, but he understood it was normal in Hinota’s culture to give a gift to your host. That’s something he had learned and imprinted into his memory. To Daiki, it was unexpected to hear she had considered giving him a gift. “I see. I will wait patiently then.” Such a gift, however, was not what he was interested in in the slightest. What he was interested in was her apology, and most of all how that would give him back the control within his own family. So he sat in his chair and waited, listening with glee to Hinota as she began to apologize to him. Her tone was genuine, and she seemed to understand exactly where her faults were. “Your tone shows sincerity, yet I do not know if I can believe mere words.” He was no fool, and he knew she had been taking a shot at him earlier at the front door. “In the East, I believe people show their remorse through a method named “kowtow”, correct? Perhaps that might convince me that you are truly sorry and understanding of your mistakes.” [break][break] Jevi’s hand gripped the fabric of his trouser, trying his best to keep his cool which became more difficult the longer this went on. Hinota had nothing to apologize for, and still did, was that not enough for him? While he remained seated, Jevi could not help himself but to speak up in Hinota’s defense much like she had done for him. “Father, if it’s an apology you were after then is this not enough? Princess Yuiee has shown in both actions and words that she is remorseful. Why not leave it at that?” Daiki saw the anguish his son was in, and while his face did not show it he felt glee at the fact that his plan was working out exactly like he had hoped. “Did I not make myself clear just now? I cannot believe mere words, so no this is not enough.” Daiki sighed and shook his head. “I know you are gullible, naïve, and incompetent, but I did not realize it was to the point where you cannot even grasp such a simple concept.” Jevi grit his teeth. The insult wasn’t even the issue, it was the fact he was so casually disregarded. But what could he do? Anything he did would only make things worse for Hinota in the end. Daiki turned back to Hinota, once again waiting. “With that rude interruption out of the way, we can get back on track with your apology.” Saki frowned at the entire situation, and knew Jevi was moments away from exploding. She once more grabbed his hand, attempting to help calm him down. This was clearly far from over.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The floral mage had remained serene the entire time, she knew that Daiki was looking for a reaction but he would be sorely mistaken if he believed he would get it from her and Junjie, they came from a culture where one wrong move could be life ending in more ways than one. She knew he wouldn't believe she was dumb, especially from their last interaction, he just didn't know how how smart the delicate doll in front of him was. "I will pass on your kind words to my father when I can return home." she said to him as he spoke about how he respected her father. "My father is indeed wise, it is why my family have lasted so long within Clover." she commented, she did respect her father and it was because of him and her mother that their family were recognised as nobility in the first place within the kingdom. [break][break] That being said, it was her actions alone that had built up their reputation from lesser noble status to main noble status. It was something that her family were having a hard time coming to terms with. She listened to his words as he attempted to bring down Jevi once more and shook her head "Not at all." she said with a heartfelt tone "You and lady Suru must have raised a fine son..." she said looking back at Junjie "You see Lord Bai is one of the best swordsmen within the imperial court, he has had many noblemen request for themselves or their sons to be trained by him and he has always refused, however, he, himself has taken on the task of teaching your son the way of the sword as he sees his potential." she said contently showing that no matter how he tried to put Jevi down she always had a way to spin it around positively. [break][break] Whenever someone saw Junjie she knew all they saw was her retainer, the one in charge of her safety; she had just proven that Junjie himself was indeed a noble within the imperial court regardless of his status to her. She had also just stated that he was a swordmaster who refused to take students when asked but had offered to train Jevi because he noticed a potential that needed to be nurtured. "Though, I have to admit he is also a master in hand-to-hand and many other weapons so he may teach your son this too." she wasn't sure what their agreement was but that was between master and student. Junjie bowed slightly as he was spoken about, when Daiki last met the man he looked like nothing more than a common bodyguard, yet this time he was wearing the finery of an eastern noble, although he did still wear his sword on his hip. [break][break] The pair could tell the room was tense the second they stepped in and yet they remained completely relaxed, Junjie gave Jevi a look for a moment and where he could see he was tense he seemed to ease up just a little seeing that Hinota was at complete peace. It seemed as if nothing was going to go as Daiki had planned if everything continued going this way, Hinota knew something was going to happen and Jevi was going to once again let his heart show once more but trusted Junjie to settle the matter quickly and once again take the power away. "I will look forward to it Lady Suru." she replied contently, their relationship was completely separate from everything else and was special to both women. [break][break] Junjie noticed the apologetic look but he gave her a look of support, as if to tell her not to worry before returning back to Hinota's side. Hinota bowed "I am thankful for your patience and will work diligently on your gift." she said as Daiki replied to her about how he would need to wait for his gift as it wasn't ready yet. It was then she made her apology, she sounded completely sincere in her words but she didn't believe half of what she was saying but she needed to make amends with the arrogant man in front of her. Once she finished, Daiki chimed in that where he believed her words were sincere he didn't believe that it would be enough for him. It was then what he truly wanted came from his lips, he wanted her on her hands and knees in front of him, to humiliate her so that he could manipulate his son. [break][break] Before she could move Jevi had obviously had enough calling his father out on his behaviour and bringing up that she had apologised while showing remorse, it was then that Daiki responded with a slew of insults. The young floral mage wished to say something but instead, she gave Daiki what he wanted. In a single graceful movement, she had moved to her knees, placing her hands on the floor before her forehead did the same. Everything now was on Junjie to handle as she couldn't help Jevi, not until she was permitted to stand once more. Still, she gave off that same soft and calming aura that she had, even in this position she was clearly still at peace with the situation. By the time father and son had ended their back and forth she had already been in her kowtow before Daiki. [break][break] "Jevi, we have already spoken about emotions have we not?" Junjie's voice rang out, they were sharp and held the same strictness as they did when he was in lessons. "It seems a reminder is required, One I hope I need not repeat yet again in the future." he said his eyes locking onto Jevi's as if daring him to look away. Where Hinota told him that his heart always seemed to be out in the open but he needed to learn how to hide it Junjie was going to take another path in the hopes of getting him understanding. "Look back to when we first met up until I officially made you my student." he said knowing that Jevi would understand as Junjie had poked and prodded all the right buttons to get the reaction he wanted out of him which caused his emotional outburst. "In a battle, your opponent will often use tactics to cause you become off balance in the hopes you will become emotional at which point you are likely a mistake, at that point they have gained the advantage and you are most likely going to lose because as a fight that was in your favour or fairly even would have now become an uphill battle for you." [break][break] It was clear what Junjie was saying. His father was poking and prodding hoping for the outbursts so he could get the upper hand, it would also help Jevi hopefully understand why Hinota was so peaceful and serene as it wasn't feeding the outcome Daiki wanted. "I hope I didn't make a mistake in choosing what will be my first and last student." He was serious on this matter, Jevi would be the only one he would ever be willing to train, but he spoke these words for a few reasons. The first was to reprimand Jevi for his outburst but to reassure him that he was one of a kind, it also showed his father that Junjie had high standards for those he would teach and he doubted that another would reach it.

[attr="class","raescroll"] To hear Jevi had found a new teacher, or rather a teacher had found him, was surprising to say the least. At first he was discontent with Hinota defying him once more, yet the explanation had caught Daiki off guard. Apparently, Lord Bai was not just a guard or retainer, he was a nobleman himself and a swords master to boot. Though many had asked him for training, he had never once accepted it, though for some reason the man saw potential in his son and offered to train him himself. “Is that so? Well, then I hope he will not disappoint you.” Apparently, Junjie might even teach Jevi more than just sword skills, as the man was a master in hand-to-hand combat too. Junjie himself did not say much, merely giving a bow in recognition of being talked about, but Daiki certainly felt uneasy about this. Why were these two so keen on working alongside his son? What had Jevi done to get them to that point? Someone like him who barely knew how to interact with nobles had somehow managed to get the Imperial Princess and her bodyguard on his side. Perhaps they had just taken pity on the boy, that was the only thing that made sense to Daiki at this point. [break][break] Regardless of such revelations, it did not stop Daiki’s plans and so he brought Hinota and Junjie inside the estate. Both Jevi and Saki had already been waiting, and while the atmosphere was tense at first once Jevi noticed how peaceful Hinota looked he found himself relaxing as well. To see that she was not in distress meant he should not be either. Jevi wanted to be her support, the wings beneath her wings so to speak, and definitely not the one to weigh her down. She had even prepared gifts for his parents as per her culture’s tradition. His mother was graceful as always, as Saki accepted the gift and mentioned she looked forward to sharing the tea with Hinota in the near future once more. Hinota responded in kind, and even Jevi could tell their friendship was special to them and had nothing to do with him. That was something he was grateful for, because he knew his mother also lacked friends due to their home situation. She was not keen on bringing people around here, so seeing that she had bonded with Hinota was great. As for his father, his gift was still in the works, though Daiki clearly was not interested in such things right now. His main goal here was to get Jevi to submit to him, and Hinota was the tool he needed in order to do so. [break][break] The apology Hinota gave went off without a hitch. Her words were chosen carefully, and her tone reflected her remorse even if she likely did not believe it herself. Jevi hoped against all odds that this would be the end of it, but of course it wasn’t. His father commented that he did not believe her tone alone and wanted Hinota to show her apology in action, demanding her to kowtow in front of him. At this point, Jevi could not hold himself back from speaking up. His father had gotten the apology he wanted, and should just end it here, yet the response was exactly what Jevi had expected. More hurtful words and basically telling him to keep his mouth shut and listen. He could feel his anger building, especially because Hinota had gotten on her hands and knees for him without a second thought. It was disgraceful, and not at all what she deserved. However, it was Junjie’s voice that called out in a strict manner, reprimanding Jevi about showing emotions. [break][break] Jevi looked back towards Junjie, not breaking eye contact with his Master as he listened without complaint. Junjie wanted him to think back to when they first met, and how he had prodded and poked to get a reaction out of him. To get him to break. He related that moment to battle in general, showing Jevi that if he let his opponent get under his skin he would be thrown off balance and he’d lose. A fight he had the advantage in would suddenly turn into a disadvantage, or at least become an uphill battle. Without many more words needed Jevi understood what Junjie was saying, and he understood why Hinota had been so calm and peaceful regardless of the situation. Of course she did not want this, nor did she accept it, but she did what she needed to do in order to not give Daiki the satisfaction and result he was looking for. When Junjie told him he was his first and only student, Jevi was a bit surprised. He knew the man was unlikely to take students, but had he really been the first? This made his heart swell with pride, because suddenly it meant so much more that Junjie saw potential him. It showed him that the part of himself that he took the most pride in was not something build on a lie, and that made all the difference in the world. [break][break] Once he had heard Junjie out, Jevi stood up calmly and gave him a slight bow. “Yes, Master. My apologies. I will show you that you did not make a mistake in taking me on as your student.” There was a warm smile on his face, as he wanted to show much more gratitude to Junjie than he currently could. Still, the lesson was understood, and he knew what he had to do now to support Hinota as well as win this battle for himself. Daiki, on the other hand, could not believe what he had just witnessed. His son had shown such obedience to this man without a single complaint, a single question, a single hint of disappointment or disagreement. He was even smiling?! His eyes were no longer on Hinota, as his hand smacked down hard on the armrest of his chair. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Daiki got up as well, his full focus on Jevi alone as rage was clear in every bit of his body language. “Since when are you the type to listen without a fight?! To show such respect to your teachers?! For years I’ve tried to get you to behave like this, and now you do for someone you barely know?!” He was basically fuming at this point, however Jevi innocently tilted his head as if he did not understand the questions asked. “What do you mean, father? I have always called my sword instructors by the title of Master and showed them nothing but the utmost respect. Why would I treat my current Master any differently?” It was true, as he had always listened very well to the teachers who taught him the ways of the sword and gave them plenty of respect. Of course, Jevi knew what his father truly meant, but this would just get the man to lose his mind even more. [break][break] And it did, as in his anger Daiki raised his left hand and brought it down in a swift movement, backhand slapping Jevi across his left cheek. The hit came down so hard that his ring cut into Jevi’s cheek, leaving behind a cut that made Jevi bleed. Alongside that, the crack of a tooth could be heard. Of course, Jevi’s head moved with the impact, yet he himself remained standing firmly. Not a cry of pain came from him as much as his cheek stung. The one who did respond immediately was Saki, as even she had not expected Daiki to strike Jevi in his face the way he had. “Daiki!” She shot up from the couch, tending to her son immediately as she looked at his cheek and the wound with worry. Jevi remained calm, he knew he had both Saki and Junjie here to support him through this. He knew what was expected of him. There was no way he was going to run from his father anymore, no matter what the man was going to throw at him. Just like Junjie, he would go through his trials and tribulations and come out stronger. He let out a calming breath as he spoke in a soft voice. “I’m alright, mother. There’s no need to worry.” Did he want to retaliate? Of course, but he knew now that being calm and showing no reaction was the best retaliation he could give his father as Daiki stood there speechless, surprised by his own action and unsure of how he could wrestle back control now. His plan had not gone at all as he had hoped, and now he had dug an even deeper hole.

Rank & Element: Junior ¦ Wood[break] Class & Type: Enchanted ¦ Trinket[break] Magic Specializations: Physical Reinforcement[break] Appearance & Lore:[break] Due to the lunar year just passing, a craftsman in the town of Hage teaching a new class of apprentices decided to make it a class project. The shopkeeper decided to buy everything as she found out that all the proceeds were going to help with the rebuilding of Kikka.[break] Abilities:

Once bought it is bound to the account it is on and can't be sold back to the store. This item can be bought only once.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Hinota could see that she once again had caused the nobleman to become discontent with how she turned his words back to him in a positive fashion. It was due to this she would prevent any kind of backlash as she had been nothing but respectful explaining why she believed the way she did. Hearing Daiki's words she nodded "Yes, the Bai family are a branch of my own, their sons are usually generals within the imperial army although some have become highly regarded scholars or physicians." she said thoughtfully "Well, all but the eldest son they become a guard to the heir and eventually their body eunuch once the heir becomes the emperor." she continued "Our current emperor, my grandfather believed that Junjie was best suited to look after me." she said smiling contently "Junjie began training to become my guard when he was five and I was a newborn." she informed him. [break][break] She wasn't about to go into the ins and outs of how certain things were decided by the emperor, Junjie looked to Daiki "My student has yet to disappoint me, however, his former teachers have left a lot to be desired as I am having to teach him the basics such as sword maintenance." his voice had an almost stern edge to them "I am also having to help him understand why he must carry a physical sword as a swordsman, which I must say is a failing on your part as a father." his tone was respectful but showed exactly who held that burden. "I understand that he has sword magic, however, relying on magic alone is not enough as a person's well of mana isn't bottomless." he said his tone was respectful but it was clear he felt like he was teaching an idiot. [break][break] "Also, I am unsure how travelled you are but there are spots where mana is thinner or even non-existent, in these places your son would perish as would anyone he was defending due to not having the relevant equipment with him." he said crossing his arms "This worries me as he often works with princess Yuiee who is a pacifist with no way of fighting and so requires a sword." his voice was still respectful but he was firm in his observations of his student and firm of his beliefs on how things currently stood. "And believe me it would be your family that would hold the shame if an imperial princess perished because your son who would be her sword failed to protect her due to the lack of equipment that any noble swordsman should have by his side due to his father's superbia." it wasn't mixing words, the Suru family name would crumble if Hinota was badly injured in Jevi's care due to his father's ego. [break][break] After he said his piece he once again went silent and merely observed, he could tell that Daiki didn't know how to take the pair in general or what their end goal was. In truth, they had no end goal other than helping Jevi reach his full potential. The pair followed Daiki quietly, it wasn't as if they could do anything else, after all, Hinota was told to make peace with the head of the Suru family and wasn't allowed to go home until she had atoned to Daiki's liking. The chances were he was going to regret wanting an apology from her by the end but the day was still young and full of life. The floral mage gracefully moved along the floor in such a way it almost looked like she was gliding, it was just how she was taught. [break][break] She already knew that Jevi wanted to support her as he knew things were going to go bad, still, she didn't seem the slightest bit distressed. She saw this as a way for him to understand the power of keeping one's heart hidden from the world around them. There was a quick exchange between herself and Jevi's mother Saki, she could only imagine how isolated the woman felt given how her husband was, there would be no way she'd want anyone to see that. She had then told Daiki about his gift not being ready and so was thankful when he was being patient in waiting for it, still everyone knew he wasn't really interested in that. The man merely saw her as a means to an end, but it wasn't going to be as simple as he was about to find out. [break][break] She had picked the words of her apology carefully and had seemed sincere and remorseful as she spoke, but she didn't mean most of what she said, but she still had to play the part and do as was expected of her. Daiki stated she seemed genuine but also said that words alone meant little and wanted her to kowtow. This of course set Jevi off and a short argument happened between father and son, as they did Hinota had done as Daiki had requested and kowtowed without issue, she was completely serene as if everything was correct in the world. Junjie hadn't even moved to stop her, he remained where he had been by her side. Junjie then chastised Jevi for his outburst of emotions, he wasn't about to put up with it, it was a weakness that could and would be exploited. [break][break] He did his best to get Jevi to understand without making everything obvious, he asked him to think back from when they had first met until he became Junjie's student. How the older male had poked and prodded to get under the man's skin and with that had managed to break him and thus he had made the mistake of assuming things about himself and Shi. He then likened it to a battle in how if he continued to allow people to get under his skin he would lose fights he ordinarily would win because of making emotional mistakes because whatever advantage he had would be removed and thus put him at a disadvantage. He had made sure that Jevi kept eye contact while he explained so he knew he had his full attention and was taking in the information properly. [break][break] By the end of what he was saying he was quite sure Jevi understood why Hinota had remained peaceful the entire time. It allowed her to take all the power away from Daiki as he wasn't getting the reactions he wanted from her. She didn't want to be kowtowed at the feet of a monster in human form but she had to accept this was what was needed to appease her father while not allowing herself to become a tool to be used against Jevi. Junjie had taken note of the surprised look on Jevi's face, in the time Jevi had known Junjie the elder male had yet to tell a lie but then he didn't often speak. Once everything that needed to be said was he watched as Jevi acknowledged the recap and bowed. "I will hold you to that." he said simply watching the fireworks that happened next as it seemed as if Daiki was unable to believe Jevi's obedience. [break][break] Daiki broke the silence with what seemed to be rage. "Why would you be angry at your son for showing respect to his teacher? Is that not something shared between our cultures?" Junjie would ask Daiki seeming genuinely perplexed why the man had acted so negatively to his son's response. In truth, he knew exactly why, it was as Hinota believed it would play out, all power had been removed from Daiki as not a single one of them were giving him the reaction he wanted minus a small blip from Jevi which was quickly rectified by Junjie. Junjie himself understood what Daiki was getting at and found it amusing that his son was playing the same game that Hinota had earlier by playing dumb. "Jevi, were all lessons by tutors and parents explained to you as to why things they needed you to know were important?" he would ask respectfully, he could already guess the answer. [break][break] It was then that Daiki had made a severe mistake as his rage boiled over, he had brought his hand down as he backhanded his son hard across the face. It was bad enough that the ring had cut his cheek and the cracking of teeth could be heard. He was proud that not a sound came from Jevi and he managed to remain standing on his feet, it also showed that his was something he was all to used to which was something he could empathise with. As Jevi's mother moved to tend to him, Junjie had already closed the gap on Daiki, before he had systematically taken the man's feet from under him and would come to find Junjie's sword was sitting on his neck with Junjie glaring down at him showing he could take his life at any moment. [break][break] It would have been clear by that point what Hinota had said about Junjie's skills were no mere bluff, he was a warrior through and through, it also showed why Hinota felt fully safe with him by her side. "I will say this only once my lord..." his voice was cold, his eyes holding a deadly intent within them. "This will be the first and last time you harm my student in front of me as the next time you dare to do so I will take the offending appendage from your body as is my right as his teacher." he said bringing up his sword to his cheek and cut it just as his ring had done to Jevi only seconds before. He did this merely to make a point before bringing out a silk cloth cleaning the blade and placing it back into its sheath. Hinota the entire time hadn't even flinched let alone moved from her kowtow. [break][break] The young woman wanted to go and heal Jevi's cheek and teeth but she had remained poised and tranquil within her current pose, after all, she couldn't rise without Daiki's forgiveness. Junjie merely moved to be standing by Hinota's side allowing Saki to fuss over her son's injuries and leaving Daiki to deal with everything that had just happened. It was clear that Junjie followed his duty to the letter, respected tradition but wouldn't put up with those in his charge getting injured, after all, it looked badly on him as a guard and teacher.

[attr="class","raescroll"] The explanation of Hinota regarding Junjie and Jevi’s relationship as master and student made less and less sense the more he heard about the man’s position and accomplishments. Someone regarded so highly had taken an interest in his failure of a son, and Daiki could not make heads or tails from it. Trying to maintain the high ground, Daiki told Junjie that he hoped Jevi would not disappoint him, and again he was in for a surprise when Junjie turned Jevi’s failures upon him as a father. Jevi had not disappointed Junjie, but his former teachers had let him down. There was this talk again about working with a physical sword, and Daiki could barely contain a scoff at the thought. Jevi had been whining and asking for one since he was a child of only five years old, but Daiki had always told him he did not need it as he could make any sword he wanted whenever he wanted. It was a waste of time in his opinion when his magic needed the most work. That’s what would bring him power and standing in this world, not some silly swords. To hear Junjie dig into this mistake was annoying to say the least, but due to how Junjie talked about it Daiki was not in a position to argue. [break][break] The man had to listen as Junjie went into more detail as to why a physical sword had been important for someone like Jevi. There were places with such thin mana where Jevi would have found himself helpless to protect himself and those under his care. Considering Princess Yuiee was often one of those under his care, it troubled Junjie to know Jevi had no way to act in such places. If anything were to happen to the Princess, then the fault and blame would be brought back to the Suru family, ruining their standing in Clover. Worse, it would become known that Daiki had been the one to insist on this to begin with. “I understand where you are coming from, Lord Bai, but I am not here to discuss my parenting choices with you. In time I believe you will see why Jevi struggled with many of his teachers. Let us go inside.” Daiki cut the conversation short here, and while what he said was true, it had always been because his father and the chosen teachers never stopped to explain to him the importance of what he was learning. Jevi was a critical person, and always had been, if he did not see the value in something he would ask for clarification. Combine that with him not wanting to become someone his father approved of, and it was a recipe for disaster. However, he had always been respectful and hard-working when it came to improving his skills with the sword. Junjie also explained his lessons well, and as such Jevi was unlikely to ever run into issues while studying under the man. [break][break] Once inside, Daiki could start his plan to bring Jevi back under his thumb by using Hinota as his pawn to break him. The man knew his son had a bleeding heart and a soft spot for the Princess, and as such it was not unlikely for him to break when he saw Hinota in such a humiliating position. Though, none of that seemed to happen as easily as he had believed. Hinota was calm and at peace, and this brought a smile to Jevi’s face at first. Once Daiki demanded her to kowtow, Jevi did end up speaking up against him, but with Junjie’s interference this was quickly put to a halt. The words his Master spoke were clear and Jevi understood exactly what he meant, putting the lesson into practice immediately. As he apologized to Junjie and promised he would ensure the man would not regret taking him on as a student, Daiki completely lost it. For years he had tried to get Jevi to a point of such obedience, yet here he was showing it to a man he barely knew? This was not the Jevi that Daiki knew, and he spoke up in anger about it. Junjie expressed his disbelief at Daiki’s outburst, pretending not to understand the issue the man had right now. “This is between me and my son!” He tried to shut Junjie up, but Jevi made things even worse when he simply played dumb. Though, even if he played dumb, what he said was true. [break][break] Daiki knew this as well, and could hardly argue with his son about it. Junjie asked Jevi if all the lessons by teachers and parents had ever been explained to him as to why they were important, and Jevi shook his head. “I was just expected to listen, and was rarely allowed to ask questions.” This, too, was the truth. Jevi was expected to simply listen and copy, without having a thought of his own about the matters he was taught. For someone so interested in philosophy and various perspectives this never stroked well with him even when he was young. Then the expected happened, as Daiki lost his patience and backhand slapped Jevi across his cheek. The ring on his father’s finger caused a cut on his cheek, and the force was enough to make a tooth crack from the sounds of it. Jevi barely reacted to it, because it had been something he expected in the first place and he was not going to give his father the satisfaction to let him see it hurt. His mother on the other hand fussed over her son and began to tend to his wound immediately while scolding her husband in the process. [break][break] While Daiki himself was surprised he had let it get this far in current company, he was even more surprised by how swiftly he had found himself lying on his back on the ground. In the next second, he was looking up at Junjie with a sword at his throat. He was completely helpless in this situation, and the cold tone in which Junjie spoke definitely hit home. Jevi relaxed as he heard Junjie’s words. This is what he had missed in his childhood. Someone to stand up for him and protect him. It brought a certain peace within to know that he had a teacher who was fully in his corner now, and not his father’s like his previous ones had been. Though he wanted to thank Junjie, he did not want to speak about it now in front of his father. The cut on his father’s cheek was the cherry on top. Daiki was completely speechless for a moment, getting up again as he brought his hand to his cheek. He was angry, sure, but at the same time he was helpless to do anything about it. He had not gotten the reactions from Jevi he needed, and with Junjie there he could hardly force anything out of his son either. “Tsk, this is not over.” He spoke basically under his breath. “I’m going to take care of this wound, but Princess Yuiee is not to move an inch. Understood?” He tried his best to wrestle back some of the control here, but he used his bleeding cheek as an excuse to withdraw for a moment and see if he could find a way to salvage the situation. [break][break] With Daiki leaving the living room, Saki forced Jevi to sit back on the couch. She had not looked at her husband even once, regardless of the life-threatening situation he had found himself in or his now hurt cheek. “I’ll be right back, my dear, I’ll take care of you.” Saki’s ocean blue eyes were brimming with pride for her son as she ran a hand through his hair before pulling away to go gather some things from the kitchen to tend to his wound. As she turned around she looked at Junjie, and gave the man an appreciative bow. “Thank you, Lord Bai.” She did speak softly, not wanting to draw the ire of her husband even if he was not present at the moment, but it was clear she was grateful for Junjie’s interference. “Yes, thank you, Master.” Jevi watched the interaction between the two with a smile before his eyes drifted to Hinota. She was forced to stay in that position for now, and she had not even moved an inch during all that had happened. He hated that she had been dragged into this power struggle between him and his father, and he only had himself to blame, because he wasn’t strong enough back then to return home by himself. This was his chance to make it up to her. To show her that he could be someone in her life who she could depend on no matter what. [break][break] Saki quickly returned with a damp cloth and began to clean the wound on Jevi’s cheek gently. “Once it’s clean I’ll cover it with some gauze, okay?” Her voice was soft and nurturing, and Jevi closed his eyes as he let his mother tend to him. He could tell her not to, and to leave it be, but she would most certainly argue with him about it. Jevi was wise enough to know he would lose that argument, so he did not even start it to begin with. “Thank you, mom.” He once more took a calming breath, knowing that this whole ordeal was not over with just yet. So long as he kept his composure they would all make it through this without too much trouble. His father’s goal was to break him, which meant so long as Jevi did not give him the reactions he was looking for he would eventually have to give up this plan of his. [break][break] His eyes opened again and found Junjie. Without words, it was clear that his eyes were brimming with determination to see this through. Many people had told him to simply not wield his heart on his sleeve, which he had struggled with immensely. Thanks to Junjie’s practical example and his metaphor relating it to a fight Jevi finally seemed to understand not just the significance, but also how to behave in situations like these. It was a tremendous step forward for him, and a lesson he would certainly carry with him at all times from here on out. Saki finished taking care of his wound, and gave a kiss on his temple. “I cannot fix your tooth, but I know someone who can and will.” She smiled softly, clearly speaking of Hinota without mentioning her name. There was no doubt in Saki’s mind that all Hinota wanted to do now was heal Jevi, but of course she couldn’t do so at this moment. Still, that moment was not going to last forever.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The pair could see the confusion that Daiki was feeling as Hinota continued to explain a little about the Bai family and their sons, it was clear he had no idea why someone like Junjie would take Jevi on as a student. Hinota had to admit she didn't fully understand such a relationship, but how could she? She wasn't a combatant like the pair. When Junjie had officially taken Jevi as a student he assured the floral mage that it wouldn't interfere with his duties to her, she didn't mind so long as both parties were content. It was true that she needed a sword due to her own beliefs but more often than not she could wait out her opponent's thanks to her strong defences, constant healing and large mana pool. When Daiki tried to put his son down Junjie nipped it in the bud and turned it around on those who should have been guiding him. [break][break] It was clear that his words had gotten under Daiki's skin due to how he cut the conversation short "Of course Lord Suru." he said calmly following the man "I merely thought as his father you would like to see the flaws I have found thus far and where his current shortcomings are so I may report progress to you from time to time if it becomes relevant." he said his tone nothing but respectful, he had no intention of informing Daiki of Jevi's progress but at least this way it couldn't be spun as anything other than a concerned teacher informing a parent of their child's current level within the subject they were teaching. If he did intend to share such information it would be with his mother as she would be proud of even the slightest step of progress her son made. [break][break] "Your son has been nothing but respectful to Princess Hinota and myself as his teacher," he said calmly as he continued to follow as he walked beside Hinota, who had remained quiet the entire time. "If his other teachers struggled with him, then they were obviously terrible at their jobs," he said, placing the blame once again on the adults, not the child. The pair knew that Hinota was meant to be a pawn in a much larger game between father and son but the young woman was a prodigy in tactics and would often lose battles to win wars as it cost less in the long run. She had calculated the possible outcome of standing up for Jevi and deemed it a worthy battle knowing the potential consequences that would come with it. She also knew that as soon as she was sent to make peace it would make Daiki believe he had the upper hand. [break][break] The young woman also expected him to ask for an apology and yet not be happy with it and so would request it in the manner of her own traditions which would cause Jevi to react in a manner Daiki expected, but she trusted that Junjie would nip that in the bud and make him understand in his own way why hiding his heart was important. It had all gone as she had expected from the apology to kowtow, the eventual outburst and the reprimand that followed. Junjie had asked a question to which Daiki would snap at Junjie who remained as stone-faced as ever. "It is something I must know as his teacher so I do not make the same mistakes as I do not like wasting what little time I have." he said in reply. [break][break] He turned his attention to Jevi as he spoke "Well there was the problem." he said crossing his arms "Children are inquisitive and so will ask questions because they don't understand why things are important and why what they deem as dumb rules need to be followed." he explained his eyes going to Saki, it was clear he didn't blame her but in his culture it was the mother who nurtured and so it stood to reason he would ignore Daiki. "If a question is met with an explanation of why it is needed or is important they are more likely to follow what is asked of them and even try harder at the task." he continued to explain "It's only natural that because your son was told to do as he was told that he would act out in a rebellious manner or being half-hearted in it." he said to her. [break][break] "It would also explain why your son now faces many issues other nobles of your land do not, if you wish I will find him some teachers that will help him expand his knowledge and understanding of the things he or yourself think are his weak areas." he offered to her, he was genuine in this matter "I have already told him I will teach him how the imperial court works so he may mingle with royals of my homeland comfortably, however, I have told him due to the dangers of it he must learn how to navigate the noble court of Clover first." he said allowing Saki to know exactly what was going on as though he didn't know his own mother he could empathise with a mother's worry. It was due to all of this that Daiki had lost his temper and backhanded Jevi but Daiki hadn't expected what would come next. [break][break] While Saki was fussing over Jevi, Daiki would find himself just as quickly on his back with Junjie's sword at his neck. It was clear Junjie was a completely different calibre of swordsman than Daiki was used to. Junjie then made it very clear if he ever saw Daiki lay another hand on Jevi he would take the hand that struck him without a second thought before he cut his cheek in the same place he had cut Jevi's merely to make the point that he wouldn't stand for the elder male's bullying of his student. It also would allow both parents to know he wouldn't allow anyone else to do it either and so he was in safe hands. Once his point had been made he moved back to Hinota's side who hadn't moved even with all the commotion going on around her as she knew that Junjie wouldn't allow anything to hurt her. [break][break] He watched as Daiki made his way back to his feet, he seemed less than happy "What isn't over Lord Suru? as far as I understand my princess is here to make peace and is doing as was asked of her from you and is expected from tradition." he said as if nothing but the apology happened. To him, Daiki's physical outburst had been dealt with and so was no longer something to be bothered with. "You have asked my princess to kowtow, she will not move until she is allowed to rise as she has already shown." he explained, even Daiki would see not a strand of hair nor a creese in her hanfu had moved from were it had been when she moved into her current position. "My princess trusts me to protect her and so didn't even flinch with the commotion that happened just a moment ago." he said his tone respectful. [break][break] He knew this would just irritate the man even more as it was entirely the truth. He watched as Daiki moved to leave and bowed politely before turning his gaze to mother and son with a slight smile watching as Saki bowed to him and bowed in return "Please think nothing of it Lady Suru and please call me Junjie I am your son's teacher and my princess's bodyguard nothing more at current." he said his tone humble towards her. His eyes went to Jevi "Now do you understand the dangers of showing your heart Jevi?" he would ask him "And, now do you understand the benefits of why we in the east hide our hearts behind masks?" he would finish knowing that he would as it had been explained in a manner he understood. He watched as his student's eyes wandered to his ward and shook his head [break][break] "Think nothing of it Jevi, she expected everything to unfold as it did and gladly plays her part in your growth." he said his voice quiet "She is a tactical prodigy." he reminded the other "She chooses her battles very carefully and doesn't mind losing battles to win wars as she finds more often than not as fewer lives are lost and less destruction happens." he informed him. The man already knew she was smart but now he would know just how smart she was, she had been playing the long game since the first time she was here knowing all the potential risks she faced. "We are to remain here on the Suru estate until she has made peace with your father which at current doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon." he commented. [break][break] He paid no mind as Saki returned to patch Jevi up, he knew that the young man didn't like being fussed over but knew that he wouldn't win the argument against his mother and so didn't fight her but thanked her. It made him wonder how his life would have been if he had his biological mother in his life, he knew it would have been far different. He pushed such thoughts out of his head as it was a distraction he couldn't afford at current. "The princess will heal you as soon as she is able to Jevi." he said everyone present knowing that to be the truth and he doubted the white-haired male would fuss for another chance to feel her gentle touch upon his skin once more.

Rank & Element: Junior ¦ Fire[break] Class & Type: Relic ¦ Accessory (Ring)[break] Magic Specializations: Sensory ¦ Healing[break] Appearance & Lore:[break] A set of delicate and elegant silver rings with three small round cubic zirconia in the top band and a marquise cut sapphire on the bottom. [break][break]

[attr="class","raescroll"] Daiki was done with the conversation about Jevi’s former teachers. How Junjie had so much believe in his son, he did not understand, but he would likely take those words back in the near future. The way Daiki knew his son was that he did not listen well to authority figures, though Junjie did not let up and told Daiki that Jevi had been nothing but respectful to both him and Princess Hinota. If there had been problems, they really had been with his previous teachers in his opinion. He was not interested in Jevi’s progress with the sword, because he thought it was a waste of time for him to indulge in regardless of the points Junjie brought up. Daiki did not entertain Junjie much longer, leading the two inside to start his plans. However, those plans hardly went as planned, as even though Jevi spoke up once with Junjie’s guidance he was quickly adapting. To see such obedience from his rebellious son angered him more than anything, as this is what he had been trying to get him to be for years. Once more Junjie asked Jevi a question, interfering between himself and his son which did nothing to help his mood. [break][break] Naturally, Jevi answered his Master honestly. He would never keep anything from Junjie or twist the truth. His biggest secret had already been revealed to the man, and it had been accepted as well as understood. That’s why Jevi felt completely comfortable around him, and showed blind trust in Junjie even now when the cards were stacked against him. Instead of addressing Daiki, Junjie focused himself on Saki, as his mother actually did care for her son’s progress and well-being. She nodded along to Junjie’s words, knowing that the man was right as this was something she had tried to tell to Daiki as well. “I have tried to make this clear to my husband in the past, yet he insisted on raising Jevi in his way and found teachers who aligned with his way of thinking.” Saki heard how Jevi struggled in areas where other nobles would not, and smiled when Junjie offered to get him other teachers to help with this. He was even planning on teaching him how to handle the imperial court so he could mingle with royals from the East. Obviously, Saki knew which royal this was meant for specifically, but she’d keep that to herself. “You are too kind, Lord Bai. Thank you for taking such good care of my son. I believe some new teachers might be exactly what he needs.” She said all of this while completely ignoring her husband. She, too, was tired of his games and the way he treated her beloved son. With Junjie and Hinota backing her, she finally felt like she could make a difference. [break][break] With everything that went on around him, Daiki’s rage could only grow. He was being ignored as well as shunned for the choices he had made in the past regarding Jevi’s upbringing. If he had just listened, none of this would have to happen, yet somehow it was his fault? What pushed him over the edge was Jevi playing dumb, and before he knew it he had struck his son across his face so hard that it left a cut and a cracked tooth. It had surprised even him, and before he knew it he found himself on the ground with a sword to his throat. Saki took immediate care of Jevi, while Junjie made it clear he was not going to tolerate any of this behavior from the older Suru. Jevi was his student now, and it was well within his rights to protect him from harm. Seeing how Junjie stood up for him allowed Jevi to relax, not too bothered with his wound or pain. Daiki mumbled something about this not being over yet, but Junjie wasn’t having it. Again, Daiki would find himself speechless and could not argue with the man. Hinota making amends was the sole reason this meeting had happened and the only reason he had some control right now. He walked off to take care of himself, leaving the others alone for the time being. [break][break] Both Saki and Jevi thanked Junjie for his interference, and Junjie seemed pleased to see the two’s gratitude if his smile was anything to go by. He informed Saki that she could simply address him by his first name, as at current he was nothing more than Jevi’s teacher and Hinota’s bodyguard. “Very well, Junjie, then please feel free to address me as Saki as well.” Her smile was gentle and soft, as she moved to go and gather some things to take care of Jevi’s cut. Junjie took the moment to speak to Jevi about the dangers of showing his heart, and wondered if he now understood the benefits of hiding it behind masks. Jevi nodded in understanding, having fully gotten the lesson now that he had seen it in practice. “Yes, Master, I believe I do. Your examples have made it more clear than before, and I think I have found a manner in which I can mask my heart.” All he needed to do in his head was imagine it as a duel with swords. Showing all his cards, tricks, movements and strength would only put him at a disadvantage. It was better to keep his opponent guessing, as this would give him the advantage in any matchup. By not showing his true emotions on the matter, the opposition could not get a hold on him. “I just need to look at it as if it’s a duel. I cannot show all I can do, or the opponent will see through my moves. The same goes for situations such as these.” Junjie had clearly reached a breakthrough with his student, and in a surprisingly fast time as well which only showed that Jevi was indeed a quick learner if the right methods were applied. [break][break] Even so, his eyes drifted to Hinota who had been perfectly unmoving since the moment she had bowed down to his father. He was a natural worrywart, and cared deeply for Hinota which only amplified those worries further. While he knew she was playing the same game he was just learning to play, he still did not like to see the woman he loved being degraded like this. Though he realized this was his chance to show her that he could be a dependable person in her life, someone she could come to rely on. Junjie noticed and explained that everything that happened today had been to Hinota’s expectations since that moment she had stood up for him. She had done all of that just for his growth, not minding that she had to lose this battle if it meant they could win this war. The words brought a smile to his face, as he once more realized how much Hinota cared for him regardless of their misunderstandings in the past. “Right, and I will play my part perfectly so that we can win this war… together.” It was clear those words were meant for Hinota even if he did not mention her name. They were to stay here till his father was appeased, meaning that they were not going to leave anytime soon. “Yes, this will not end today, but I will not give in.” Now that he knew what was expected of him, and understood this was the best way to support Hinota at current there was no force on Earth that would break his will to see this through. [break][break] Saki had returned, having heard the entire conversation and only feeling more and more proud of her son. With the correct guidance he seemed to be growing so much faster than she had believed he would. It showed her she had been right all along, which was a personal victory to her. She cared for the wound on his cheek and mentioned that while she could not heal his tooth, she knew Hinota would once she could. Junjie reaffirmed this, and Jevi nodded in agreement. “That’s why I’m not worried in the slightest about this pain.” It was nothing compared to what he had experienced in the past. Though, it was the first time Daiki had hit him somewhere other people would be able to see the scar it was going to leave without any healing. The man had always been calculating enough to keep it to his torso and back where Jevi could easily hide it. It had been drilled into his head that they were signs of great shame, and he had always kept them hidden from everyone. After hearing Junjie’s story and seeing the man’s scars, Jevi was starting to become more accepting of his scars, but he was not yet fully there. [break][break] Daiki had been gone for a little while, but now that he had the time to recollect himself he returned home with some gauze applied over the cut on his cheek as well. It obviously looked far worse than Saki’s patch up job, but he needed to stop the blood somehow. He looked more calm than before, but it was clear that he had been taken aback by everything that had happened so far. He found his way back into his chair, looking down at Hinota who had clearly still not moved even a little bit. “Now that I have had a moment to think about how you can show your remorse the best, I have finally made a decision. To show your sincere apology, you will serve the Suru family as a maid until I am convinced that you truly understand you were in the wrong and you are sorry for it. You will start today.” This meant Hinota’s time to kowtow had at least ended, as his words were spoken with a finality to them. Immediately after he looked in his peripheral to see Jevi’s response to all of this. Surprisingly enough to Daiki, Jevi looked calm and at peace, resting his back against the couch as if he was just waiting for the sign to be let go. “Do you have anything to say about this, son?” Jevi brought his hand to his chin as if in thought, before shaking his head. “No, but I do have a question.” [break][break] He stood up from the couch, looking directly at his father. At first it may have looked like he would go off against Daiki for his decision, which caused his father to smirk. “Which is?” There were a lot of questions Daiki had expected, such as if he couldn’t just let the Princess go. However, when Jevi opened his mouth his smirk fell once more. “Could I be excused? I was in the middle of tending to Jasmine when you summoned me here, and it looks like your decision has been made which means we’re done here, right?” Obviously this was far from what Daiki wanted to see, but what could he really say against this? It was true that he had made a decision, and he had no good reason to keep Jevi here anymore. That’s when he noticed Jevi’s cut, and was reminded of his own. “Actually, no.” He turned his attention to Hinota, who likely had gotten up by now. “I have heard you possess incredible healing magic, so I will need you to heal the cut on my cheek.” That was sure to piss Jevi off, right? Once again he checked for his son’s reaction, but Jevi had simply sat back down and waited as requested. Of course, he was incredibly angry at his father for continuing these games and using Hinota as a pawn, but he was going to win no matter what. He was not even going to request being healed himself, as Jevi was curious what his father was going to do when he had a visible scar. People would ask questions, and Jevi was anything but a liar. For now, all he could was wait and see without giving his father what he was looking for.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The swordsman knew that Daiki wouldn't like anything he was saying, nor would he likely change his opinion on the fact that his son required a physical sword due to his magic. He honestly believed the elder Suru would be why his family would fall thanks to his disrespectful iron-fisted nature. He knew his own culture was iron-fisted on many things but they were at least respectful, they had many rules they had to follow after all. He could tell that Daiki believed his son to be a disrespectful lout to those in authority but the swordsman already knew that there was more to do with his outbursts than plain rebellion or selfishly wanting his way. He had never had to deal with this issue outside of when he had been poking and prodding but that was what was required to break him so he could be reforged stronger than before. [break][break] The pair knew just by their small interaction that they were getting under Daiki's skin as they had turned every negative word spoken about Jevi and turned it around to be his and his former tutor's fault for not being able to handle him. The floral mage had even played dumb, which was enjoyable because it upset Daiki that there was no way to call her disrespectful or get angry at her. It was clear by his demeanour that he thought he still had all the cards in his hands but he was about to find out that had never been the case since he had met the pair. Daiki set his plan in motion and got the desired outcome from Jevi but it was quickly nipped in the but by Junjie who reminded Jevi of a lesson he hadn't realized he was given in the past. [break][break] Junjie had even put it in terms he could relate to and so adapted quickly to what was expected of him by the elder swordsman. The entire time Hinota had remained in the demanded kowtow not speaking nor moving even a fraction of an inch as things played out around her. She was merely playing a game of Shogi in her head using current events as her pieces and it was going as she had intended. It had of course gotten out of hand when Daiki didn't get what he wanted and so lashed out hurting Jevi, the bowing princess knew that there was a chance this would be an outcome of course but she believed he wouldn't have done it out in the open while in front of 'guests'. The swordsman knew that Daiki had always been methodical much like his own father but if what happened got out it would cause issues for him politically. [break][break] As Jevi's mother tended to her son, Junjie had already taken action to deal with Daiki. The elder male had found himself prone on his back looking up the end of a sword at someone who almost looked like he was void of a soul. Once he made his point clear he cut Daiki's chin before walking back to Hinota's side after cleaning his blade and sheathing it. He then spoke to Saki about a few things regarding Jevi's weaknesses and how he could help get him tutors who would strengthen this if they both wished. He completely ignored Daiki as did Saki until their conversation was over. Daiki decided to excuse himself to deal with his shallow wound but instructed that the floral mage who hadn't moved at all was to remain as she was, Junjie was quick to point out that even with all the commotion she had remained perfectly still. [break][break] Once the man had left to lick his wounds it left only the four of them in the living room as he was called by his title he requested that he merely be called by his name at which point requested the same. He bowed to the elder woman respectfully "I dare not my lady." his tone was completely respectful to her, it's not that he didn't want to fulfil her request it was that he couldn't do it due to his duties to both his ward and his student. He then turned his eyes to Jevi having asked him a question listening to the answer and nodded. "Your father is unable to hide that corrupted heart of his and that is why he will never have true control as he does not have the respect the head of a family should garner." he said quietly, he knew his words might upset Saki but it was the truth. [break][break] "That's exactly right." he said his tone showing he was happy with his progress, he knew Hinota had tried to explain it to him but she wasn't a warrior so there were just some things she'd never be able to help one like them understand. He had noticed Jevi's eyes drifting to the bowing princess and knew that though he now knew the power of hiding his heart it would still take some practice for him to master it. "Your heart is showing Jevi." he explained showing he had made it obvious what was on his mind, he knew he worried but she was perfectly safe. He also told him that she more or less expected everything to happen as it did showing just how sharp her mind was. [break][break] He was also informed that the floral mage had no qualms about losing battles for the best outcome of a war, it seemed to have put the young man's mind at ease for now stating it was a war they'd win together. "We never expected it to end today Jevi, your father is foolish and hard-headed, he doesn't realize that he is the corrosion of the family." the swordsman replied as if it was just a matter of fact. He listened to Saki as she helped his cheek while he stated Hinota would help fix his tooth when she had the chance to do so. Something that he knew would happen so that's why he wasn't too worried about it. Eventually, Daiki came back with his cheek tended to though it looked like it had been done by a blind monkey. It was then that he stated that he knew how Hinota could show her penance.
She was to remain there as a maid serving the family starting that day, she moved out of the kowtow but sat on her heels as she listened the quick conversation between father and son with a smile on her face, Junjie already knew the young woman well enough that she had something up her sleeve as Daiki told her to heal his wound, he wasn't expecting what was about to happen that was for sure. "Of course, I will always heal someone who requests aid." she said her voice tender. She cupped her hands together within her hands appeared a moon-blue-coloured lotus flower in full bloom, and a figurine of Daiki appeared at the centre made of condensed angelic mana the scent of the bloom was apple and raspberry, once the figurine fully formed the lotus blossom closed around it before completely vanishing from her hands. Underneath Daki a seal of a lotus appeared, from it a closed lotus bloomed. [break][break] Eventually, it opened and Daiki would find whatever pain he had vanished in an instant, the moment that it did she would cancel the spell before standing "It is well known that my support capabilities are second to none within Clover, the Wizard King himself came to my families estate to give me orders personally in regards to the last threat to the kingdom." while her tone was respectful it also had a commanded authority to it "I find it beyond insulting that you would ask me to use a spell on what an injury that was barely a scratch and thus would leave no mark while your child is hurt in a way which would leave a scar." she said walking past him to Jevi, she would remove his bandage Saki had placed on Jevi's cheek "At least it isn't jagged." she said softly "Though it is quite deep." she observed "It must sting." she said as she placed her hand on his cheek. [break][break] "Prin..." Junjie said though stopped as she brought up her hand to silence him "My magic has natural healing to remember, I don't use it often, you are always saying that a swordsman who doesn't practice grows dull like a sword, the same could be said about my abilities." she said Junjie bowing "Of course princess, my apologies." he said his tone respectful watching as she removed her hand away, wound gone, the tooth would also be repaired as would any pain he was feeling. She turned her eyes to Daiki "I will not be here as a maid, I will remain as a guest though." she said simply showing that this wasn't up for negotiation "You asked for an apology and I have given this, also, it would be your reputation that would be ruined if it was known you lost your temper and backhanded your son because you didn't get your way in front of guests. Clovian nobility do love their gossip." she said her voice was completely respectful but sickly sweet. [break][break] It was clear she had called checkmate on him as it had been Daiki who had lost control in front of those visiting his estate while she and Junjie had been nothing but respectful to the family, due to their traditions they were under no obligation to keep quiet about they had witnessed. Of course, she could be bluffing but would Daiki be willing to take that gamble?

[attr="class","raescroll"] Everything had largely gone as Hinota had planned, and Daiki had even lost his cool when he noticed how well Jevi listened to his new teacher Junjie. That show of obedience and respect is what Daiki had been after for years, and he was furious to see that Jevi had always had the capability to be that way, yet had insisted on opposing him. It was due to him losing his cool that everything had gone downhill for him, which further illustrated the lesson taught to him by Junjie and Hinota. Junjie was quick to deal with Daiki after the latter had backhanded his son, and it made the man retreat for a moment. It gave the four left in the room a chance to speak, and Saki could not help but cover her mouth as she giggled slightly at Junjie’s answer to her request of simply calling her by her first name. “Very well, Junjie, I shall not insist otherwise.” Not only had Junjie been the one to comfort her during their last visit to the Suru estate, he had now taken on Jevi as his student and for more than just sword lessons. She was eternally grateful to the man for that, and if he felt more comfortable addressing her as lady then she was not going to argue. [break][break] While Saki was grabbing the things she needed to take care of Jevi, not wanting to wait till Hinota could do so as it could take a while, Jevi spoke with his Master. The lesson had finally set in, and Jevi nodded at Junjie’s comment about his father’s corrupted heart and how Daiki could not hide it. He noted the words were spoken quietly as to not upset his mother, and so Jevi had given no other acknowledgement to spare his mother. He did not want to hurt her more than she already was, because he knew damn well she was staying with Daiki for his future’s sake. Divorce would bring a great shame to the Suru name, and the only reason Saki would not want such a thing was for him. Even in his absence, she had stayed here and waited for him. Instead, Jevi reiterated the lesson Junjie had taught him, and explained he found a way to make it work for himself. He could tell from Junjie’s tone that he was happy to hear it, which only brought a smile to Jevi’s face. However, when his eyes drifted to Hinota, Junjie called him out on his heart showing, making him rub the back of his head with a sheepish smile. “It’s a work in progress…” Still, there were no “enemies” around right now, so that was good at least. Jevi let his mother treat the cut on his cheek, as Junjie reaffirmed they already knew this was not going to end today, and they were prepared for that. “He is.” There was no reason for Jevi to disagree, what Junjie said was right, and Jevi would take care of it in due time. [break][break] Daiki had returned not too much later, stating that he had thought it over and figured out Hinota could show her remorse by staying at the Suru estate as a maid. All of this was to get a reaction out of Jevi, however the younger Suru was right back into duel and merely asked to be excused without showing even a bit of worry or anger over Hinota. Yes, he felt angry, but he was not going to give his father the upper hand. Daiki did not let him go, instead asking Hinota to heal him, which again did not get a reaction out of Jevi like he had hoped. Jevi had noticed the smile on Hinota’s face, bringing one to his own as she exclaimed she’d always heal someone who asks for her aid. She used one of her spells, and took care of Daiki’s “wound”, but not without telling him off about it. As she explained her abilities were second to none in Clover, she also told Daiki she thought it was insulting for him to ask her to use a spell on such a minor wound while leaving his son who had actually been injured much worse unattended. “I was getting to that...” Daiki answered, not in a position to argue, though he was going to ask for Jevi’s healing regardless. If that wound scarred, it would become harder to hide what had happened behind the closed doors of the Suru estate. [break][break] Hinota on her end did not wait for him to command her to heal Jevi, but made his way over to him. Jevi could only sit back quietly and watched as she approached him, trying his best not to show any of his emotions on his face. While he managed for the most part, he was unable to mask the love and warmth he felt for the woman in his eyes. Hinota would certainly see it, and Saki likely would too. Jevi would let her remove the bandage from his cheek, listening to her assessment. Her soft voice and gentle touch made him want to melt into a puddle, and his heart was pounding in his chest. Hinota would note that his cheek would feel quite warm because of it, as he nodded slightly to her comment of the wound stinging. “It does.” His voice was soft, as he was barely able to speak. He was glad he could get any words out at all in his current position. [break][break] He heard Junjie trying to stop her, but Hinota informed him that she needed to keep up her practice with this special skill that came with her Angelic magic. The fact she went against tradition with what was clearly an excuse just to be able to touch him made him fall even deeper in love with her. Ever since their last mission he had been trying so hard to move past his feelings for the imperial princess, yet it was here and now that he realized that he would never be able to. “Thank you…” Jevi whispered, his thank you encompassing far more than just his wounds getting healed. He was thankful for everything Hinota had done for him, and he could only steel his resolve to become a man she could rely on. As Hinota moved her hand away, Jevi noticed that all of his pain was gone, even in his tooth, and brought his hand to where Hinota had just touched him. This was equal parts in curiosity to feel if the wound was truly gone, as well as relishing the feeling a little bit longer. The latter would be easy to deny, though. [break][break] Jevi listened as Hinota set her own conditions, telling Daiki that she had no issues with staying here as a guest, but was not going to remain here as a maid. After all, he had asked for an apology and had been given one. She then brought up that it would be a shame if his abuse became public knowledge, as it would ruin his reputation. While her voice was sickly sweet, feigning care for the man’s reputation, it was obvious that she had Daiki in a corner. This was something Daiki could not afford to get out, and so reluctantly the man had to give in to Hinota’s request. “That will be fine, then.” It was too risky to go against her in this moment, and Jevi relaxed himself now that the worst was over. Daiki got up from his chair and straightened his clothes. “My wife will ensure the servants will have your guest rooms in order. I have business to attend to this afternoon.” With that, Daiki left the estate all together. Whether he really had business was up for debate, but he knew that he needed time to come up with a better plan in the future to get Jevi back under his thumb. This was no longer about the family as a whole. This had become a pride thing, and he could not lose to his son in this matter or he’d lose face completely. [break][break] Now that Daiki was gone, Jevi let out a breath he did not know he had been holding in. “This just feels like the quiet before the storm…” He hunched over a bit and moved his right hand to run it through his hair, resting it there for a moment as he tried to stop the thoughts that were now running rampant in his head. Jevi was in his head, already moving on to the next battle in this war, trying to predict his father’s next move so he could be ahead of him. Saki knew Jevi’s mannerisms, and moved her hand to Jevi’s back where she let it rest. “Sweetheart, let it go for now…” Her voice was soft and nurturing, and it did make Jevi relax a little more as he straightened his back again. “I suppose you’re right. Worrying will not make me gain any ground here.” All he could do was take it day by day, keep an eye on his father and remember the lessons he was taught to deal with the man. “It will be fine.” He gave his mother a smile, convincing himself that things would work out. [break][break] Jevi then turned to Hinota and Junjie, as he stood up. “I suppose we should focus on getting your rooms in order since you’re both going to stay here for some time. Are there any requests regarding room placements and the like? I will do my best to make all of this as comfortable as possible for you.” Without being told to, Jevi took over the role of Saki by taking care of their guests. One day he’d lead this family, and this was going to be part of his tasks. Since he felt responsible for Hinota and Junjie being forced into this, the least he could do was make it as easy as possible on them.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] For the most part, things had unfolded as the floral mage had anticipated even with Jevi's outburst. She trusted Junjie to get him on the right track as if Jevi continued to react on emotion then everything would be for nothing. Junjie did as was expected of him as both Hinota's guardian and Jevi's tutor. He had quickly nipped it in the bud and explained it in a method that wouldn't be obvious to Daiki but would make perfect sense to Jevi. It worked like a charm, Jevi had quickly hidden his heart making his father's plan impossible. No one was happy with how they had to play this but by remaining calm and just doing as was requested removed all of Daiki's cards one by one until he had been the one to act out in a way it seemed he never thought he would. [break][break] Daiki had slapped Jevi so hard that his ring had caused a deep cut in his cheek and even cracked a tooth, this is where Daiki had made a grave mistake as before he even had a second to realize his mistake he would have found himself on his back, Junjie's sword sitting on the elder Suru's jugular showing he could take the man's life at any point. Junjie was as stoic as ever but Daiki would have seen the deadly void within the swordsman's eyes, showing he could have taken his life and continued on as if nothing had happened. He made it very clear to Daiki that if he ever laid a hand on Jevi again and he found out he would be relieved of the offending appendage. Daiki had no power over the swordsman and Junjie had made his intentions clear regarding his student. [break][break] Once he said his piece, he cut lightly in the exact area where he hurt Jevi before moving back to Hinota's side as if nothing happened. It was a lesson that he was sure Daiki wouldn't readily forget, that even in one own's home they were still held up to certain standards and that there would be consequences for not keeping to them. Daiki had made a quick retreat afterwards stating that Hinota was to remain still until he returned. The floral mage hadn't moved even a millimetre since moving into her kowtow as she trusted Junjie completely. Saki had become formal with him but he requested to be called by his first name, however, when she insisted he do the same he politely declined, he was still traditional after all and so kept to them. "Thank you for understanding my lady." his tone was respectful as always towards the elder woman. [break][break] While Saki was grabbing what was needed to treat her son Jevi and Junjie had a quick conversation, he was glad that Jevi had learned the lesson that he was teaching, he commented quietly that his father had a corrupt heart that he was unable to hide. He did it in a hushed tone as he didn't want to upset his hostess, but it should be clear to Jevi that sooner or later his father would make a mistake that would ruin his family name and who knew what would happen as Daiki was the head of the house. He would eventually turn his eyes to Saki "My Lady, I apologise if I am about to overstep but why do you remain with a man who cares only for himself?" he knew why someone in the east would do it but he didn't understand why it was done in the west. [break][break] He turned his eyes to Jevi who smiled and nodded "I am glad that you have, you must remember this lesson as it is a very important one." he admitted to his student. He was happy that Jevi was finally understanding and noticed how his eyes wandered to Hinota, he called him out on showing his heart once more to which he stated it was a work in progress. Junjie moved closer and leaned in to whisper "Walls have eyes and ears, they enjoy telling stories..." he started "And where some walls may keep secrets many walls in this building are still very loyal to your father, hide your heart always in this house." he finished before standing and moving back to Hinota's side. "Do you understand Jevi?" he would ask, this was to protect everyone involved. Even when Junjie had moved to defend Jevi he remained as he always had so as not to cause issues. [break][break] He was glad that both sides were on the same page knowing that this was only the beginning, eventually, Daiki returned having his scratch covered although it looked as if a blind monkey had done the first aid which amused him. The elder Suru stated that Hinota would remain as a maid to show that she was sincere in her apology, it was clear he was attempting to provoke a reaction from Jevi who merely asked if he could be excused as he was tending to Jasmine. Daiki was unhappy that he wasn't getting what he wanted from anyone and so tried one last Hail Mary instructing the Floral mage to heal him. The woman wasn't a warrior but he was about to find out that she was just as deadly as one, especially in circumstances like these. [break][break] She had stated she would help anyone who required healing before using her Lotus Cocoon spell to heal what was nothing more than a scratch; even if she was to leave it alone it would leave no mark. It angered her just how selfish the elder male had been, his son had been dealt a blow that was causing pain and would have lasting harm and yet he wanted his scratch healed first. She felt that unlikeable feeling once more but she managed to keep it sleeping as she had no idea what would happen if it woke up at current. She told him exactly what was on her mind, her support capabilities were second to none within the kingdom and that it was insulting to her to be requested to heal a scratch while his son suffered. If he had asked her to tend to Jevi then himself he wouldn't have gotten the same reception she would have done it without issue. [break][break] "Perhaps you were Lord Suru, but you will always put yourself first instead of what is best for your family line, your actions are proof of this." she said her voice calm as she stood. "Outside we had a conversation about the effects of rot and decay on a family, you should take time and do some soul-searching because you are more corrupt than a lot of the daemons I have faced in my career." she said as she walked towards Jevi before stopping for a second looking over her shoulder to the elder male "You are the one who will bring your family to ruin if you continue down this path, I don't wish this for the Suru family, so I implore you my lord find a path that allows you harmony with your wife and son so your family may thrive." she was quite sure her words would irritate him or go in one ear and out the other but he needed to hear it. [break][break] With that out of the way, she moved to Jevi taking away the gause so she could inspect the wound much like a nurse or doctor would. She touched his cheek so she could assess the damage, the other reason for this was because she had no intention of using a spell this time. "I'm sorry that you had to feel pain due to me Lord Suru." she said her voice quiet, she hated being the cause of pain even if she knew it couldn't be avoided at times. As he spoke that it did hurt she gave a weak smile "Allow me to fix that." she said her angelic abilities taking place. Junjie attempted to stop her from touching a man but she stopped him and informed him just as if he stopped training his skills he would grow rusty, the same could be said for hers. [break][break] This caused the swordsman to accept what was happening even if he didn't like it. Once she had finished she took her hand away knowing that the injuries to his face and tooth would have healed to the point it was like it had never happened. She chuckled quietly as Jevi put his hand to his cheek as if to inspect it "Are you not satisfied?" she would enquire, then again she guessed it was only natural given the trauma his cheek had just been put through. "No need to thank me, I am just helping someone who was injured." she said with a smile, to her, she had done nothing special and was sure that if another had seen what happened and could have done the same then they would have. [break][break] It was then she turned her attention back to Daiki stating she would be more than willing to stay on the Suru estate but it wouldn't be as a maid but a guest. He had requested an apology and he had gained it, he had requested she kowtow and she had done that, as far as anyone in her homeland would have been concerned the moment she was permitted to rise from it she had made peace and had been forgiven. She even stated that it would be a shame if what had transpired became public knowledge, he after all, had severely harmed his son in front of guests for absolutely no reason. Daiki being a nobleman who seemingly was into the politics of the noble court knew just how much they enjoyed gossip. [break][break] Her voice at this part had been sickly sweet and feigned concern for his reputation but she had backed him into a corner and they all knew it. It had been reluctant but the elder Suru had given into her request and allowed her to stay as a guest for the foreseeable future which suited all parties but him. It was then that Daiki had excused himself stating that he had some business to tend to, she doubted this was the case given what he had originally intended to do but she remained silent on that matter. She turned to look at Jevi "Perhaps, but he has learned a few vital lessons today so it will be harder for him to pull such stunts in the future." she said her tone calm "Junjie likely told you I'm a tactical prodigy right?" she said looking up to her guard who nodded. [break][break] She chuckled covering her mouth as she did. "What he hasn't told you is I'm also a political prodigy and not just for my homeland." she informed both mother and son. "It's why I was able to sidestep him so easily." she said thoughtfully "Also, I was bluffing but I knew he wasn't going to take that chance." she said contently. "The gift I am creating for your father will take several months, I can not return home until my host has been given a gift so I hope I may be able to remain until I can finish it. I promise I will work diligently on it so I don't overstay my welcome and Junjie can even continue your training at the same time." she didn't want to become a hassle for them or cause issues by staying longer than what was needed. [break][break] "I can remain within my carriage if it is easier." she said clearly not wanting to be a burden to the man "It is essentially room on wheels." she said but instantly held her sleeves feeling Junjie's gaze on her "Two rooms are not required Lord Suru as I will not leave my mistresses door while she sleeps." he stated showing this was indeed the truth. "Hopefully my sister will be joining us at some point and she will rest inside the room with my mistress at that point I will take up your offer of a room." it was clear he was taking caution as he ordinarily would, it was just a little harder as there was no one to relieve him of duty for now so would need to rest as and when he could but he wouldn't leave her side when she was most vulnerable.

[attr="class","raescroll"] With Junjie’s guidance and clear cut example, Jevi took to his new demeanor like a fish to water. He did not show his heart to his father, masking his emotions well and not giving Daiki an inch to work with. This brought Daiki’s whole plans down, and when Jevi had shown such obedience to Junjie the man lost it and, in a moment of uncontrolled rage, struck his son harshly. This made the house of cards crumble, as Daiki found himself on the floor seconds after underneath Junjie’s sword while being told off by his son’s new teacher. It was here that Daiki had lost every bit of ground he had, and he excused himself to tend to the cut on his cheek while trying to come up with a way to turn things around. This allowed the group some breathing room to speak, and once more Junjie and Saki got along very well. She respected his wishes to not use her first name, and was more than happy to address him by his first name. While Junjie was conversing with Jevi, she was gathering some things to tend to her son’s cheek. [break][break] When Saki returned to the couch and tended to Jevi, Junjie apologized for potentially overstepping some boundaries, but asked her why she stayed with a man who only cared for himself. Saki’s eyes did not leave her work, tending to Jevi’s cheek with a soft and calm smile on her face. Even her voice showed no shakiness or signs of weakness as she kept it even despite the sadness in her heart. “I do not mind you asking, Junjie. The answer is quite simple, really. I stay with him for the sake of my son.” Jevi’s eyes widened a bit hearing this, but he was unable to turn his head to look at Saki. “Mother…” For so long he had thought she was staying with Daiki in hopes he’d return to the man he was before Jevi had been born, but it was just for him? Saki ignored her son’s soft spoken words and simply continued. “This family, under my husband’s guidance, has struggled a lot. When Jevi ran away from home, we struggled even more so, as the rumor mill went wild with theories and accusations towards us both. You can imagine the things people said and came up with. However, if I were to divorce Daiki on top of that I do not believe the Suru family would be able to continue to exist as it does. Jevi would have come home to nothing, and he would have likely blamed himself for everything that had happened in his absence for the rest of his life. Therefore, I will stay with my husband until my beloved son can take over the family and his future is secured.” Jevi was absolutely speechless. She had sacrificed her happiness, her entire life, just for him? In the hopes he’d one day return? [break][break] While no tears formed in his eyes, Jevi could feel that his heart was turning cold. These emotions welling up in him were becoming far too much, so as a way to cope he was simply turning them off all together. However, that was not going to do him any good right now either. He took a deep breath and focused himself on what was still going on around him. “We’ll talk about this later, mother.” Saki smiled softly, moving her hand to stroke through Jevi’s snow white hair. “We can, if you wish.” Her mind was not going to change on this, as she would sacrifice everything for her son’s happiness. His eyes drifted to Hinota, and he was called out by Junjie about it immediately. Jevi admitted learning this lesson of hiding his heart was still a work in progress. While Junjie was happy that Jevi had learned this important lesson, he moved over and whispered to the younger man that even the walls in his own home had eyes and ears which enjoyed telling stories. While there were walls which would keep the secrets, there were also those that were loyal to his father which is why he had to hide his heart even in his own house. Jevi gulped a little at this revelation, realizing that not all their servants would be like Edgar, and so he nodded when asked if he understood. “Yes, Master. I understand.” Today was packed with lessons, and right now all he wanted to do was run to Jasmine and hide away in order to give himself some breathing room. But he couldn’t do that right now, he had to stand his ground. He had to be better. [break][break] Daiki came back downstairs quickly enough with some other demands. At first he tried to make Hinota into a maid for an undetermined time, and when that did not get a rise out of Jevi he commanded her to heal his small cut. This is where Hinota was finally able to speak now that she was no longer in the kowtow position, and she really let Daiki have it. While her tone was nothing but polite, her words were venomous as she berated the man for placing himself above his son who was injured much worse. He put himself before everyone in the family, and his actions were proof of this. Daiki had no leg to stand on, and couldn’t refute a thing, so he kept quiet while his face showed how annoyed he was. Deep down he knew she was right, but he was far from admitting such a thing. “I am certain I can elevate this family’s name in due time. Your worries are unnecessary, though appreciated.” While Daiki was playing nice, his voice showed dismissal as he just wanted these talks to end. His plans had failed this time, but he could come up with something else and would eventually get his way. [break][break] The imperial princess then focused on Jevi and his wound, and decided to use physical touch to heal him despite the warning Junjie gave her. Jevi felt his heart flutter for a moment as Hinota was essentially breaking tradition with an excuse just to be able to be close to him. While he kept himself calm, his eyes did clearly show the love and warmth he felt for Hinota. He confirmed that his cheek stung, and Hinota apologized for herself being the reason he had to feel pain. “Please, do not blame yourself, Princess Yuiee. That would pain me more than this wound ever could.” His tone was soft and warm as he returned her weak smile with a bright one of his own. Once she pulled away, Jevi moved his hand to his cheek to relish the feeling of her touch a little longer, as well as curiosity to her magic. When she chuckled and asked if he wasn’t satisfied, he could not contain a soft chuckle of his own as he shook his head to show her that the assumption was far from the truth. “It is not every day one gets touched by Angelic Magic, so I wished to relish the feeling a little longer.” He could not tell her directly that it was her touch that he was enjoying so much, and so he did what he had learned from Enlil and Sumire and gave her an indirect compliment. The truth behind it would be clear to Hinota, but by using these words no one could pin anything on either of them. When she told him he didn’t need to thank her, Jevi simply nodded in appreciation with a smile as he was not going to fight her on it. [break][break] From here, Hinota told Daiki what was going to happen. She did not mind staying at the Suru estate as a guest, but that was all he was going to get out of her. Daiki had no way to refute this, and reluctantly agreed to these terms and conditions before excusing himself by stating he had some business to tend to. It was a bad excuse, but no one was going to call him out of it as all of them would rather see the man leave. As he did, Jevi tried to think ahead to the next battle in this war, stating that it felt just like the quiet before the storm. Hinota agreed, but reassured Jevi that his father had learned some vital lessons before stating that she was certain Junjie had mentioned she was a tactical prodigy, and she turned out to be a political prodigy as well. None of that was surprising Jevi anymore, as Hinota was simply that amazing. “That does not surprise me, Princess Yuiee, and I appreciate you using your expertise to help my family. It is more than we deserve.” That is how he truly felt, especially after learning how much is mother had suffered for his sake. It still didn’t sit well with him, and while there was a smile on his face there was a deep sadness in his icy blue eyes. [break][break] As it turned out, since she would need a couple of months to finish up the gift for his father, that’s how long she was likely to stay here. She could not return home till she had given her hosts a gift, and she promised to work diligently as to not overstay her welcome. While they were here, Junjie could even continue training Jevi in the meantime. It was Saki who stepped in and spoke, a warm smile on her face. “Oh sweetheart, you could never overstay your welcome here.” She hid her mouth with her hand as she giggled softly, seemingly not bothered by the state of her marriage and simply happy to have made a friend in the imperial princess. Jevi could not understand it, hearing her speak so casually, showing no sadness or pain when she had suffered ever since he had been born. For nearly two decades she had been in an unhappy marriage all for his sake. How could she still muster the strength to giggle and be so caring towards those around her? In order to distract himself, Jevi decided to help Hinota and Junjie get their rooms set up so their stay could be as comfortable as possible. [break][break] Hinota mentioned she could stay in her carriage if it was easier, and even though she mentioned it was basically a room on wheels Jevi waved his hand to dismiss it. “None of this is too much trouble, Princess Yuiee. In fact, it’s the least we could do.” Junjie informed her that two rooms would not be needed, as he himself would not leave his mistress’s door as she slept. He hoped his sister, Luli, would soon join them so she could sleep in the same room as Hinota at which point he could have a room for himself. Jevi nodded in understanding to Junjie, not even going to argue with the man as he understood his duty. It was one he was trying to work towards himself, after all. “I understand, Master. I will let you pick the room most suited for Princess Yuiee.” He then turned to his mother, bowing to her in apology. “Mother, would you be so kind as to guide them. I have truly been slacking in my duties towards Jasmine, and I fear if I do not return to tend to her soon she may just kick down her stable door.” Jevi knew Jasmine would not do something like that, even if she would be waiting for him, but he needed to get away from here. Being near his mother filled his heart with grief of a level he had never felt, and he needed a moment to himself without drawing attention to himself. “Of course, sweetheart, I know how much of a temper Jasmine can have.” She smiled softly, and would take over the duties from her son as he bowed towards Hinota and Junjie. “My apologies Princess Yuiee, Master. Duty calls me elsewhere for the moment. I shall return shortly.” [break][break] With that, Jevi would go back towards the stables as Saki gestured towards where the stairs to the first floor were. “Please follow me, I will show you around and show you which rooms we have available. I believe it is best that your future room will be next to Princess Yuiee’s, right Junjie?” Her smile remained ever radiant, leading her guests through the estate as she showed them the first floor and pointed towards a door at the end of the hallway to the right when one had just come up the stairs. “That would be Jevi’s room at the end. The bedroom of myself and my husband would be over there.” She turned to gesture to the left, to the room furthest away from Jevi’s. This left every room in between, a total of three in this hallway alone, open to be chosen by Hinota and Junjie. “These three rooms are free, all of them with their own bathroom, so there is no need to worry about such things. I am big on privacy, so I requested them. If we were to go past my bedroom to the left, that hallways holds two more rooms.” Of course, those were the furthest away from Jevi, but she would let her guests make their preferred choices. Once they had made a choice, Saki would turn to Edgar. “Could you please assist them in fetching the belongings they have brought with them, Edgar?” Edgar simply bowed and nodded. “I would be happy to assist, my Lady.” Saki smiled and turned to Junjie. “He will be at your disposal, Junjie.” She knew he was the princess’ bodyguard, and absolutely nothing would happen without his knowledge and approval. That’s why she only ordered Edgar to assist, rather than take over the entire duty like he normally would. [break][break] While Saki was helping out Hinota and Junjie with getting settled, Jevi had walked back to the stables like he said he would. The moment he entered, Jasmine could be heard as her excited neighs filled the building due to her master returning to her side. However, the moment she actually noticed him, Jasmine immediately quieted down. She could sense something was wrong by his entire demeanor, so she knew not to push her excitement onto him. Jevi entered Jasmine’s stable, a weak smile on his face. “Hey girl…” His voice nearly cracked with just those words, and Jasmine lowered her head. The white mare pushed her own head against Jevi’s forehead, and this gesture alone was enough for him to break. He wrapped his arms gently around her and let the tears stream down his cheeks without making a sound. Eventually he spoke in a soft whisper, not wanting anyone to hear him, but also unable to put more strength into his voice as it was. “I never realized… How could I not have realized?” He closed his eyes and grit his teeth a little, frustration mixing in with the overwhelming sadness. “I can’t even protect my own mother, so how am I ever going to become captain and protect a kingdom? How could a coward like me ever hope to accomplish anything?” Finally he choked on his tears, and began to actually sob. He moved his head to hide it against Jasmine’s neck, his grip becoming tighter on her. “I’m hopeless… I’m going to disappoint all of them just like I did mother. I don’t deserve all their help…” Why would they put so much effort into someone who was a screw up like him? Someone who couldn’t even see how much his mother had suffered, or realized how much he had added to her suffering? Maybe everything would have been better if he had just stayed gone forever? Maybe that was still better…

They were to make small trinkets out of oak that look like oxen as with all learners things didn't go as planned and they ended up making derpy looking oxen. The shopkeeper decided to buy everything as she found out that all the proceeds were going to help with the rebuilding of Kikka.[break] Abilities:

Unlike normal items this item seems to grow in strength the stronger the bond it has with the owner much like a spirit or relic allowing this to be trained up to a grand ability. Once bought it is bound to the account it is on and can't be sold back to the store. This item can be bought only once.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Junjie was proud that Jevi was taking instruction well and adapting quickly to what was required of him, he hid how he was feeling from his father which quickly showed the elder male for the weak and pathetic man that he was. It also showed that the power Daiki once believed he held swiftly was taken from him by two teenagers and a man less than half his age, Junjie could only imagine how humiliated he was feeling but that wasn't his concern. It was due to this loss of control that Daiki lashed out and quickly was put in his place by the swordsman. Junjie didn't care about much in the world but those that he did or had taken under his wing would be protected even if the rest of the world was burning to the ground around him. [break][break] After this Daiki had excused himself which allowed the others a brief reprieve from the tyrant of the Suru family, Hinota still hadn't moved a muscle since she was told to kowtow. Junjie on the other hand had a conversation with Jevi and Saki as Saki tended to her son's cheek, it was then he apologised for potentially overstepping but asked her why she remained with Daiki when it was clear he wasn't a good husband. He watched as she continued with her task a smile on her face as she stated she didn't mind him asking and told him the reason, it was clear by Jevi's reaction he hadn't expected her words. "Your husband my lady is a soulless tyrant who attempts to rule his family by fear." he said his voice calm yet respectful as he knew this was likely a difficult subject to speak of for the elder woman. "I wouldn't dare to imagine." he said his voice soft. [break][break] Saki was a kind woman, she didn't deserve venomous rumours being spat about her by people who knew nothing of the truth, but spreading rumours is what most nobles did as they had nothing better to do with all that free time they had. "Many nobles get divorced and of course, the rumour mills spin their tales but it shouldn't prevent you from leaving an unhappy marriage." he said his tone still gentle as he spoke. "I wouldn't worry about the trials and tribulations your son will endure if you do decide to part from that man, he is a strong man with a lot of future potential." he admitted "If anything, I think he would prefer you to be happy and build from the ground up than rebuild on the tattered ruins of a rotted house while you are unhappy and suffering on his behalf." he didn't know for sure, but it was the sense he was getting. [break][break] "You might be right that he would have blamed himself for it, but, do you think he doesn't blame himself now knowing the truth?" he would ask her. He wasn't attempting to belittle her in any way but trying to understand himself and perhaps give her some clarity. He observed Jevi the entire time and could tell by his body language that this was going to take a toll on him, there was nothing much that could be done now as they were awaiting the next act to begin. He had noticed that Jevi's eyes had moved to the bowing princess and was quickly called out on it but he was impressed nonetheless, however, he moved closer to him and reminded him that the walls have ears and eyes and most were still loyal to his father so to be careful in the estate. [break][break] It was clear that Jevi hadn't given this thought before and so quickly acknowledged Junjie's whispered lesson. He could tell by his body language that he was quickly becoming overwhelmed and the swordsman couldn't blame him, a lot had happened in such a short time but soon this phase would come to an end, especially if Hinota had anything to do with it. Daiki had come back after a few minutes with more demands, he wanted Hinota to serve the family as a maid, and he had asked Jevi if he had any issue with it to which he was told no but asked if he could be excused to finish tending to his horse as he was in the middle of her care when he had been summoned. It was clear the elder Suru was looking for a rise out of his son but wasn't getting it. [break][break] Jevi had been told no and then he instructed Hinota to heal his scratch of a wound, this had been a huge mistake on the elder male's part. She told him that she was happy to remain on the estate but it would be as a guest, not a maid. She stated he had asked for an apology to make amends and she had done this both by Clovian standards and even by her homeland's standards so she wasn't giving more as, as far as everyone would be concerned she had made amends in the method he had requested. It was then she stated she was more than happy to give healing aid to anyone who requested it and used one of her spells to heal his 'wound' before chastising him. For believing himself above everyone else in his family. [break][break] "You couldn't elevate a leaf on the wind, so there is no chance with your current black heart you could do anything but bring your family to ruination." she said her voice polite but she was clearly making a stand against him. "I'm sure you must have been a wonderfully kind man at one time, then Jevi was born and you saw his magic and though that he would be your ticket to what you believed you were due." she said clenching her sleeves "Children aren't tools for their parents to use and abuse like dolls and puppets!" she said her tone becoming slightly curt "They are living breathing people that have feelings, wants, needs, desires and dreams that should be nurtured by the ones that bring them into this world." she said shaking her head "Instead of realizing this, your heart became greedy and corrupted so you could fit in with those above your station." she said in a near whisper. [break][break] "It's not too late for you to fix your ways and mend the sickness within your family, it would take a lot of hard work but I believe you could go back to being a good man and help elevate your family name alongside your wife and son." She didn't believe that anyone was ever passed redemption, of course, there were a few exceptions to the rule. She sighed as her words were dismissed "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink princess." Junjie whispered, she knew that he was right but it didn't make it any easier to accept. With that, she moved to check over Jevi's wound and this time she used the natural healing ability that her angelic magic afforded her. Junjie of course attempted to speak against the act but he had silenced him with a single action and explained herself in a way he had to accept. [break][break] "I can't help but blame myself when I cause pain to another regardless of it being directly or indirectly." she admitted. When she removed her hand and moved back to being by Junjie's side she chuckled asking if he wasn't happy with what she had done. "Just like your own magic Angelic is a rare one too but it isn't my primary element that would be plant." she informed him, she understood the compliment but continued to speak normally "Although, as your father has recently found out my flowers never smell as they should oddly." her tone a little embarrassed about that fact. It was then that Daiki took his leave saying he had business to take care of, all four of them likely believed he was slinking away to lick his proverbial wounds and plan his next step. [break][break] "You realize that we aren't on my family estate, you can just call me by my name." she said, she hated being called princess and where she knew that Junjie wouldn't change due to his education and expectations Jevi didn't have the same weights put on him, especially in his own home. Her smile lessened at what he said next as she looked at the floor "Don't... Don't say that..." she said her voice pained. "Don't put your family name down like that Jevi." Junjie instructed "Your family is suffering right now is all but it doesn't mean that you don't deserve aid in helping it find its tranquillity and balance once more." he finished. "To say it is more than your family deserves is pessimistic and shows you are ready to end the war and accept fate." she whispered. [break][break] The conversation turned to how long she would need to be there due to needing to finish Daiki's gift before she could leave, ordinarily just giving Saki a gift would be enough but it had been Daiki that had summoned her and so it was he who was her host and not Saki. When she said she would work diligently as to not overstay her welcome Saki attempted to reassure her that would never be the case "I think to your husband I overstayed the moment he was challenged outside." she said softly, she already knew that Daiki hated her, she was the reason that he had lost all control over Jevi. She covered her mouth and lightly chuckled along with Saki, happy to have made a friend in the elder woman, it seemed like their bond helped them forget other things even if it was only for a short time. [break][break] Jevi had decided to take over being host for the guests of the family but the floral mage stated she could just remain within her carriage as it was a room in of itself. Jevi just waved his hand, it was clear that the white-haired swordsman wouldn't hear of such a thing. "If you are sure, as I said I do not wish to be a burden." She didn't feel comfortable within the household given Daiki's hatred towards her even though she knew he wouldn't try anything against her and if he did he'd have to get through Junjie who had already put him on his back that day. Junjie had stated he wouldn't need a room as he wouldn't leave his mistress's door, but that may change when his sister turned up as she would be able to rest next to Hinota which took some stress off him and allowed him to rest properly. [break][break] "We have no right to choose, we will trust our host." she said showing that this was his home and they would rest where permitted to. It was then he passed the duties to Saki using the excuse that he needed to finish tending to Jasmine. It didn't take someone like Hania to read that there was a lot going on inside of Jevi at that moment but no one commented on it. Saki took on the role of hostess "We understand Jevi, please take care." Hinota said her voice showing understanding on the matter bowing along with Junjie as he parted to go to the stable. Once he left, Hinota waited a few moments "Go tend to your student, I will be safe for now." she instructed Junjie the pair bowing to each other, Junjie bowed to Saki "Allow me to help him navigate his emotional turmoil." he said respectfully allowing Saki to say her piece before leaving. [break][break] Hinota smiled at the woman "Junjie might not seem like it given his demeanour at the best of times but he is a very kind man." she said with a soft tone. She followed her hostess and nodded "He will not wish to be too far from myself or his sister." she admitted as she asked a question, just like Saki the floral mage had a smile on her face. She took note of who's room was where "I will trust your judgement Lady Suru, however, I shouldn't be close to your son's room." she said, she trusted Jevi but she was unmarried as was Jevi. She felt as if it would be improper to be resting so close. She would shake her head hearing what Saki asked of the old steward. "I am thankful for the aid, but, it would be improper." she said holding her sleeves. [break][break] "My carriage is like a room." she explained, she was sure Saki would understand it was a place where she rested so having a stranger entering made her feel more than a little uncomfortable. "Lord Edgar, might you show me the kitchen? I would like to make lunch for my host and hostess." she said with a happy tone, it was the least she could do as a thanks for allowing herself and Junjie to stay for an undefined amount of time. "If you wish to come and chat Lady Suru I would welcome the conversation." she said with a happy tone. [break][break] Junjie had gotten aid to find the stables and walked in going to where his own horse was stroking down his nose, he listened quietly as Jevi spoke to Jasmine. "It is quite easy to answer that Jevi." he finally said feeding his own horse a sugar cube from a pouch. "When you are raised in a certain way you normalize everything around you." he said continuing to pet his horse calmly before walking over to Jevi and Jasmine, holding out a sugar cube for the mare to take. "Don't be too hard on yourself Jevi." he said as he thought of the best way to explain it. "Have you ever tried drinking from an empty cup?" he would ask, he knew it was an unusual question and it was something that in the West only young girls did at their make-believe tea parties. [break][break] "It isn't an easy feat by any means, in the East, it is said that a perfect woman can drink from an empty cup..." he began looking at Jevi in the eye "This one act signifies that no matter the chaos going on within or around them, they can smile remaining poised and calm as if everything within their world is as it should be." he explained. "I believe your mother can drink from an empty cup and this is truly why you never realised as she never allowed you to know." he said his tone showing understanding of just how hard this was for the younger swordsman. "You want to know how you protect your mother? You remove the threat." his voice was serious on this matter. "You can either do this by helping him learn the error of his way and building the house together or you take the power from him so you can exile him." he wasn't mincing words on the matter. [break][break] "You'll be given all the tools you require to grow stronger in your skills and a more rounded noble, this is how you progress on becoming strong enough to protect what you hold dear to you." he flicked his forehead lightly "And you use what you want to protect as a reason to get stronger and keep the darkness from it regardless the cost of you." he said looking outside "My reason for not running is the reason I continue to train and get stronger. My sister and my mistress are my entire universe and so the whole world could burn so longs they are safe." he said turning his eyes back to him "That isn't to say I wouldn't do everything in my power to keep you and your mother safe if you were in danger." he reassured him. [break][break] He'd then sigh "If you honestly believe you will fail me and my mistress, then I shall cut my losses now instead of wasting my time in attempting to aid you and make sure you will never be her sword in the future." his tone held authority in it, yet it was cold. He knew that Jevi was going through a lot but he had already been told about his defeatist attitude and he wasn't going to put up with it every time he found out something difficult to accept. "Are you going to let her sacrifice be in vain or are you going to stop feeling pity for yourself and end her need to sacrifice for you?" he would ask him "Are you going to stay, learn and become stronger or are you going to run away again and let her go through what she had for the last three years?" he finished. "Did I choose the wrong student because earlier you said you wouldn't let me down." he said turning his back to him "I'll expect the answer to these questions before dusk." he said walking away and going to give his horse some carrot.
