It had been the day that she had been told by her parents what they had decided for her, she had always been a loyal and obedient daughter but to be told that she either had to marry a person of their choosing that she didn't love or join the Blue Roses because that was where her mother was located didn't sit well with her. She tried to get them to listen to reason but it was like trying to argue with a brick wall, actually the more she thought on it she was more likely to get the wall to give some way and take her feeling into consideration. By the end of the 'discussion', she was in tears, her doll-like appearance ruined because of how puffy her eyes were, her makeup running down her cheeks. Quickly she had ran out of the house and estate her family-owned heading to somewhere that she hoped that she would find peace, just somewhere she could decide what she was going to do with the impossible choice in front of her given by her own parents. She didn't want to be married for anything but love and she knew the Blue Roses were a respected squad but she wanted to be able to choose for herself instead of being told that was her only option. She sighed as she had found a spot behind a rose bed and started to undo the ribbons in her hair before pulling out the ornaments and pins within it and dropping them on the ground without a care they were nothing but shackles now in her mind and right now she felt so much better not having them in. she was free at least in that moment and started to wonder if the comforts her family name afforded her really worth her happiness and freedom of choice in the end? She hugged her knees to her chest crying into them once more as it seemed her entire world came to an end. She knew something like this would eventually happen it was tradition after all but it didn't mean that she was ready for it. Perhaps she should just run away from it all and not worry about the choice entirely. Who was she trying to kid? Her family were royals they had the means and reach to find her regardless of where she ended up trying to hide, still, she should maybe try. The means justified the cause, at least it did in her current chaotic and emotional mind.
It wasn't too long before the young woman heard several things thud to the ground and went to see what happened leaving her trinkets behind in the grass, she cared little for them at this point in time. Seeing a bunch of shopping on the ground she moved quickly to help the owner pick up their belongings not even realising who it was, well that was until she held out the things she held onto out towards the man in front of her. To her surprise, it was none other than the captain of the Golden Dawn, with only a few words exchanged in quiet stuttering she handed him his things back and moved quickly back to where she was sitting originally. To her surprise, he had not only followed her but sat beside her to find out why she had retreated so quickly and what was wrong. Reluctantly she told the older man why she was there and what she was thinking, he, himself had opened up to the young woman about how he had gone through something similar and even said that the Golden Dawn would welcome her, he knew a guy. That made her laugh, before long he was holding a squad mantle to her, after some hesitation, she took it and put it on. She wasn't going to insult his intelligence as all noble and royal families had their own quirks, hers meant until released of duty or until marriage she was honour bound to him and the Golden Dawn. This didn't really bother her too much but she couldn't attack, it was something she had told him in advance as she didn't want him blind-sighted but again he had likely fought with at least one of her parents during the shattering.
After the long walk to the Golden Dawn headquarters to gain her room key she composed herself and headed back home, she would have to break the news that she had decided to take a path not offered to her. She knew this wasn't going to go down well with her parents or her elder brother Ozma but this was her life and she was through having her every step decided for her, she was following her own heart for better or worse and there was nothing that was going to make her change her mind. She couldn't really deny that she was nervous, she had rebelled against her family and this was something she had never heard in their history but then there was a first time for everything she guessed. Taking a deep breath she walked onto her family estate and towards her home hoping that no one was in so she might buy herself some more time before dropping the bombshell onto her family and likely getting disowned because of it.

Ozma had started his day like any other by getting up to start the day, he had to wave off the servants as they had wanted to help him but he simply shook his head before signing to them to run him a bath. After a long and invigorating soak the young noble had gotten dressed in his usual attire of black shoes blue pants and his double breasted coat with his Crimson Lions mantle around his shoulders. He gained a small smirk on his face as he remembered when he had gained his mantle and followed in his fathers footsteps in the fiercest squad of magic knights. As he finished getting dressed he made sure he looked right before he stepped out and went to get some food. After a simple yet enjoyable meal Ozma decided to relax outside paint a bit since he had some time off today. The air was warm and the scent of various flowers were in the air as he used his special paint brush to paint on an empty canvas, the noble decided to paint a drawing of the view he had seen from the top of the Crimson Lion HQ from memory. However before he could finish he heard one of the servants call him to meet with his parents.
Signing that he understood Ozma finished up his painting before heading back in to see what his parents wanted, as he entered he was surprised to see his younger sister Hinota there as well and as he say down a bit behind her after respectfully bowing to his parents it became clear why the two of them were there. His parents told his younger sister that she had two choices to ether marry a boy of their choosing or join the Blue Roses with their mother watching over her. Ozma loved his sister despite their frequent arguments but he often wondered if she had the stomach for what the knights had to do. The older of the two had simply watched as an argument started between his sister and their parents before Hinota had run off crying and very upset.
Ozma merely sighed before he went out and decided to wait for her to return while he enjoyed the peacefulness of the day. Eventually Ozma saw his sister return but before he could approach he saw something that made him freeze. The mantle of the Golden Dawn was around her shoulders and he narrowed his eyes, he knew that she had been upset but he wondered just how she had managed to obtain such a thing and what made it worse was this was spitting in the face of their parents who had given her very clear choices. The elder noble approached his eyes narrowed and even with his face partially covered it was easy to see he was unhappy. Once he got close he pulled out his brush before he quickly wrote in the air, “ where on earth did you managed to get that Hinota and for that squad in particular? you do know that mother and father will be furious and I can understand their reasoning” he wrote his movements showing he was agitated.
Normally Ozma was calm and very hard to get angry but now he was stunned and angry that his sister would rebel against the paths that his family chose for her, he knew that they weren’t the best paths but he trusted his parents to do the best thing for them. As he looked closer he noticed her hair was not up and all the pins and such were missing making her look less regal then normal. “where are your hair pins and such Hinota don’t tell me you ran out of here without them” he wrote his movements sharp showing his irritation.

Hinota had done it, for the first time in her life she had defied her families wishes and now she had to deal with the aftermath that came with the show of rebellion she now wore around her shoulders. It was something she was scared about but at least she had joined a respectful squad, all be it wasn't one that someone like herself would end up being in normally she had guessed. She walked sheepishly down the pathway towards the front door of her family home not only bracing herself for the backlash that would likely fly towards her and how she would fight back and explain her stance. It didn't matter, however, she had given her oath of duty to Zaven, not an hour before she had came back to talk to her family. She wanted to clear the air with them but part of her feared she would be disowned and it shook her to the core but family traditions stated unless married or released of her vow of duty that she would remain in the command to her current captain. She didn't want to be married except out of love, even then she would want to remain a magic knight like her mother had and was pretty sure her captain wasn't about to let her leave just after her joining his squad.
Soon she saw her older brother Ozma and stopped looking at him like a startled deer in the middle of the night, she took a deep breath and walked towards him her eyes on the ground as she wasn't expecting this conversation to happen so soon but she guessed a dry run would be best to steady her shaken nerves. It wasn't that long before she moved towards him stopping a little bit away from him to bow to him as was normal etiquette for their family.
"Hello Oz-" she managed to get out before noticing that he had started to berate her through using his paintbrush to communicate
"I got my mantle the same way you got yours, my captain gave it to me." she said as she continued to read what he was saying, standing up and clenching her hands she knew she would need to stand her ground.
"It is my life to live, not theirs or yours Ozma. I didn't like either path set out for me so I decided to make a third and walk that one instead." she didn't care that she sounded like a bratty teenager, she was speaking her mind for a change.
"I've always been the dutiful daughter but I am not interested in marrying someone I don't love because I am not an asset to be pawned off on someone and I want to make my own name living on my own reputation, not our families or parent's" she continued, this was much harder than she thought.
She didn't think this was going to go well but still, she needed to not back down or else she would be betrothed shortly afterwards. She had no issue with being married but she wanted to do so when she was ready and without stipulations but their parents were beyond traditional so it felt like an uphill struggle, to say the least. It was then Ozma had commented on her hair and all she could do was roll her eyes and brought out the pins, ribbons and other ornaments that she had in her hair and dropped them in his hand.
"You want them so much you use them Ozma" she said coldly, her smile all but gone it was clear she didn't want to deal with this now or ever.
"I was debating just leaving them in the hanging gardens when I originally thought about running away" she commented not really knowing how the other would take her telling him what she had been thinking, now that they were closer though he would be able to see her face bare of makeup.

Ozmas irritation didn’t drop at all as his sister explained she got her mantel the same way anyone does and that her captain had given it to her which made the older sibling narrow his eyes in suspicion. “and how did you manage to impress the captain considering that squad is the toughest to get into and they don’t pass mantels out like candy” he wrote his text was sharp and showed his agitation clearly as Hinota explained that it was her life to live and she didn’t like either path she was given so she made a third one which made Ozma even more angry. He understood that life wasent fair and that sometimes things happen that they didn’t like but still with their family obedience and listening to the rules were first and foremost. “did you ever stop to think that those choices were given to you for reason Hinota and no one ever said you couldn’t make a name for yourself in the Blue Roses you could do amazing things there” he wrote trying to keep his temper in check.
As he asked about the hair pins she used and that were now missing his sister quickled pulled him out and shoved them into his hand before coldly saying that if he wanted them he could use them which made him clench his fist in anger. “you know our family reputation to go out without them doesn’t look good on this family at all and it reflects on you as well did you not even stop to consider that” he wrote his font shifting showing he was now getting extremely pissed off at her behavior and her shrugging off traditions. Even as Hinota mentioned considering running away Ozma simply shook his head as he wrote in the air more. “do you not understand that what your doing is tossing away the traditions that our family has held for generations Sister did you even stop to consider the reasoning that mother and father had in giving you those choices? Honestly I don’t think you did and your actions clearly show it” he lectured with his writing. Ozma loved his sister but this was clearly an act of rebellion and it didn’t sit well with him and it wouldn’t sit well with their parents as well. “come on Mother and Father want to speak to you and it would be best not to keep them waiting” he wrote in the air as he waited for her answer.

Hinota looked to her elder brother she was hurt by his words, to her it was almost as if he was saying she wasn't good enough to be inside the Golden Dawn. She knew they had a prestigious reputation and that it was difficult to get inside the squad due to their exacting standards but she had managed it and was proud of herself for it. In honesty, she had hoped her family would be proud of her after their anger subsided but just this conversation alone told her that was never going to happen and so to stop trying to gain the approval she so desperately wanted from them. She felt so isolated from her family now because she had made a decision for herself that went against their expectations for her, it was now she contemplated if she had done the right thing by going off the path fate had apparently set out for her. No, this wasn't the time for those kinds of wavering thoughts, she had done what she believed best for her and she would stand her ground and refuse to back down come what may. To tell the truth, she knew that even if she did cave there was nothing she could do, she had given her oath of duty to Zaven and now he was the only one that could release her unless she married but that was something she didn't see happening in the foreseeable future as she would refuse a betrothal.
"I just sat by the rose bushes after helping him when his grocery bags broke, he could see I was upset and came to talk to me. After the talk, he gave me my mantle and I gave him my oath of duty at the headquarters." There was more to it than that of course but she just summarized it for ease of understanding and time.
She could see her brothers agitation within his text and even noticed how the font had changed a little to mirror his mood, she hated when he did that because sometimes it would become hard to read. His question to her on whether or not she had given thought to why she had been given the options she had by their parents and in truth she had and no outcome that she came up with was good. She loved her parents and knew they would do everything in their power to protect her, they had given her a good life with everything she could want but she felt like a bird with clipped wings inside a gilded cage and she was done with it; she honestly thought that Ozma would understand that but then he hadn't had to fight to get as much freedom as she had and it was always expected that he would become a magic knight and join the Crimson Lions like their father.
"I did take that into consideration and I hated and loathed every outcome." she said looking him dead in the eye for once with determination, it was clear she wasn't going to back down from her decision "I would not fit in there Ozma, let's be honest with each other. I am a healer not a warrior like our mother, father or yourself... the Coral Peacocks would have honestly been the best fit for me but I chose the Golden Dawn because my captain showed me there was another path I could take and because I am good enough to be in that squad. I'm a prodigy in my elements and in within my healing specialization. It's not like the Clover Kingdom is going to become a ruined shadow of itself because I decided to become a member of the Golden Dawn over a member of the Blue Roses and if you believe it is then you need to wake up and smell the miasma Ozma." She was a little irritated as she spoke but then how could she not be when her brother was attacking her decision.
Normally if reputation and appearance were brought up the doll-like mage would feel terrible for making her family look bad, in fact, she would be downright ashamed of her actions but all she could find herself doing right now was rolling her eyes with little care on those things. Her eyes narrowed to him "I was wearing them and make-up when I left the estate Ozma don't even think mother would allow me out of my room if I wasn't dressed like the little doll they've always had me look like." she scowled "And just for the record I hate being dressed up like I'm a doll all the time, I want to dress normally every now and then not like I'm going to meet the king or am going to a damn ball." she clenched the sleeves of her outfit, she hated the fact he could dress how he wanted and so could their parents but she was always expected to look her best no matter what, it wasn't fair and it was one of the many reasons she wished she was born a boy she may have had more freedoms instead of fighting for the ones she had.
"Yes, I did take it into consideration just right now I don't care." she said looking him dead in the eye "I have always had to dress like a damned doll regardless of the situation I am expected to look perfect in every way..." she shook her head "I've had enough of it Ozma, I can't keep this mask constantly up..." she closed her eyes as she felt tears falling "It isn't fair to expect that from anyone so why is it expected from me?" she said through the tears bringing up her sleeves to wipe the tears away, it would be clear that this had been taking a mental toll on the young woman for years now and it had all come to a head when she was told to choose between two specific paths as there would be no others allowed to her. She knew Ozma was given a single path but at least that path had many branches for him to choose from and if it had been like that for her she would have been happy but she hadn't been so lucky and had no idea why. Had it been because she had the misfortune to be born a girl they had been so suffocating with what they expected from her? She honestly wished she knew but it was likely an answer she would never be given.
"I know what I have done Ozma and I don't regret my decision, you were told you would be a magic knight when you grew and you would be able to take your pick of squad you liked." she took a few slow deep breaths trying to get her emotions under control as she tried to process what she wanted to say next "We both knew that father was proud of you when you chose the Crimson Lions and decided to follow in his footsteps like a dutiful son." She said lowering her hands from her eyes eventually as she managed to calm herself enough to stop crying "I don't care why they gave me the choices. I am not going to be pawned off like a piece of cheap jewellery onto another family and I didn't want to join the Blue Roses because it wasn't the right fit for me..." she paused for a moment "Had I been given the same treatment as you and not almost bullied down one of those two paths I would have joined the Coral Peacocks as it would have been the best fit for me and the skills I possess. I joined the Golden Dawn however because my captain reminded me that it is fine not to walk the paths expected of us to become who we want to be." She smiled a little thinking back to the conversation at the hanging gardens and though she knew the disobedience would be punished harshly she was still happy at what she had done.

Ozma just listned with his eye twitching slightly as his sister explained that she had helped the Golden Dawn captain with his groceries and talked with him before she was then given her mantel and then took her oath at their hq. in all honesty Ozma found it absurd that the captain seemed to think that they could intrude on another noble families wishes. The elder child knew that the Golden Dawns captain would no doubt get an ear full from his parents and Ozma would do the same if he could talk.”So a bit of talking and help and you got your mantel that’s all that it took?” he questioned writing it in the air as he simply couldn’t grasp that it was that easy, all other squads from what he knew had tests and specific regulations that needed to be met in order to get in so how was his sister able to skate by all of that. As Hinota brought up that she as a healer and not warrior like he and the rest of the family were Ozma nodded and his eyes softened for a moment. Even he knew that she didn’t have the same will to fight that he and the others did. Its for that reason that he took up his grimoire to fight in the crimson lions and on the front lines he did it so that she wouldn’t have to. Ozma was more then ready to have to bloody his hands to keep hers clean
As she mentioned that she would have gone into the Coral Peacocks if she had the chance since it was a better fit for her Ozma could understand the idea there since the Peacocks were not straight up fighters however going into Golden Dawn meant she might have to fight and if the elder was honest he worried about his sister hesitating since hesitation in a fight could mean death.as she finished explaining she told him that he needed to wake up and smell the miasma and he narrowed his eyes.”like you said you’re a healer not a warrior so why enter the poster boy squad for the knights you know eventually you might end up with blood on your hands either by your own volition or someone elses and if im honest sister your hands arnt meant to harm why do you think I went to the Crimson Lions.? I took the path that would put me on the front lines and would bloody my hands so you wouldn’t have to I would rather I be the one that has to cut someone down then you to spare you from ever having to do that” he explained writing in the air quickly but cleanly so she could read.
“I would think mother and father have you dress such a way since they have high expectations for you Sister just as they do for me they did spare no expense to make sure you look the best” he wrote in the air as he saw her getting angry about how she was always dressed like she was now though with hair pins and makeup of course. Hinota then explained that it wasent fare that she had to keep up the mask of being a perfect girl for the family and that its not expected of anyone else so why her. At that the elder of the two sighed before he flicked his brush in the air again.”Its not just you Hinota I don’t say it but I have the same standards pushed onto me as well its tough I know that but nothing in this life comes easy” he explained since he could understand the pressure she was under since he felt that pressure on himself as well from his parents. They wanted him to be the next fearsome lion in his squad and it was tough to do that among the others in the Crimson Lions.
As Hinota explained her reasoning for joining the Golden Dawn again Ozma just sighed since he knew he couldn’t change her mind taking his brush he started to write again. “I hope you know what your in for since the time may come while in that guild where you have to defend our home and you might not have the luxury of just healing you may have to fight as well” he explained before he added onto what he just put.”also I hope you have steeled yourself for what will happen when you see mother and father its.. not something im looking forward to hearing” he wrote as he knew their parents would be furiours and no doubt they would lash out at his sister and cause physical harm. The worst part was that Ozma himself couldn’t do anything to stop it.
