"Hey there! Young lady!"
Suna whirled around towards the source of the sound. The owner of the voice turned out to be a gardener of sorts, a man of average height who looked incredibly disturbed. He was leading a pretty dappled mare who was pulling the cart, and in that cart was an abundance of beautiful red tomatoes.
"Hey! Could you give me a hand here?"
Suna pulled her eyes away from the tomatoes and back to the owner. "Hello there, good sir." She kept her tone civil and polite, even though she was slightly miffed at being called upon. She hated attention, and she was busy. Busy on her way to a bookstore in Sosshi. She did not get to finish a certain historical fiction novel the other day, and was up in the air about its ending.
"What kind of help do you need?" In her eyes, the man was perfectly fit and able to guide his horse and the cartload of tomatoes to wherever he was going. Why would he need her help? She was just minding her own business, and just happened to pass by this little plot and the man loading the cart. She certainly did not expect him to call out to her. Nor did she want him to.
The man wiped the sweat off his face with his arm. It was only late morning, but it was already starting to become hot. "I need help transporting this to Sosshi, where my vending stall is." He motioned back towards the cart. "As you must have heard, there have been some nasty bandits roaming around these areas. Why, the last time I transported my cucumbers, I was attacked and was forced to leave the whole cartload behind!" He groaned, and Suna felt a tingle of pity for him. The common people really only had the land on their side, and it was all they could do to make a living from growing crops.
"At least they let me loose with Lady here." He patted the mare’s neck affectionately. "All I need is someone to guard the cart with me until we get to the city, and I highly doubt that those ruffians would attack us in broad daylight, but better be safe and sorry! Also, I’m willing to compensate you for your time." The vendor looked tired and haggard. "So, what do you say?"
Suna paused. He was on the way to Sosshi, which was where she was also headed. In addition, she could always use some extra yuls in her money bag, which was currently a little light. "It just so happens that our destinations are the same." She offered a smile, small but genuine. "Lead the way, sir!"
With that, she accompanied the vendor and his horse. For the first few miles, they made good conversation and passed by the occasional farm and its house. But as they pressed on, the farms became more scarce and spread apart, and the duo fell silent.
However, the silence did not last long. As they were about to pass by a particularly large boulder, a few bandits jumped out from behind it, brandishing pikes and swords.
"Watch out!" Suna called out to the man, then quickly hummed middle C, summoning her instrument. Her Celtic harp materialized in front of her, and the elf immediately grasped it and swept her fingers through the strings. A slow and quiet melody wafted through the air, a sad and plaintive tune. This was the beginning of her Music Technique: Ritenuto (Piano) spell. The sound spilled out from the instrument like a stream and flowed towards the three bandits.
The bandits were slightly surprised by the music, but the leader of the trio lifted his sword in the air and shouted at them. "Leave the cart and your lives will be spared!"
"Like I’d let that happen," Suna muttered under her breath. Her left hand muffled some of the notes, indicating the spell’s restraining abilities. The music spread and circled underneath their feet, and her aura slowly flowed upwards and wrapped itself around the bandits’ legs, restraining their movement speed by 2m/s. She was going to slow the enemy first before attacking.
"Vampiric Magic," she muttered, and absorbed the leader’s and one of his goon’s mana. It perfectly restored the mana cost of that spell.
"We’re not afraid of a little girl!" The leader bellowed, brandishing his sword. Even with his movement speed slowed, he could still move about. "One last chance to step away and get out of here before I ruin that pretty outfit!"
Suna did not seem to hear his words. Three versus two. Still doable. She had to concentrate on playing. If her concentration broke, so will her restraining spell. From the corner of her eye, she noticed the man doing all he could to calm down his skittish horse. He would not be much help in this fight. Make that three versus one.

Once per post, a single spell (cast by the wielder of this perk) that comes into contact with magical targets may siphon mana from up to 2 of those in contact with the spell. If more than 2 targets are in contact, then who is siphoned is up to the caster. These can be NPCs and magical creatures as well as players, regardless of if they have a mana pool or not, however, it will not work on your own creations/golems. You will sap a total of 5 mana [+5 mana per target's rank above junior] from each of the 2 targets, and restore your own mana for an equal amount. At grand rank, this may be used twice, by casting two different spells. This perk does not have to be included in the spell itself to be utilized.

"Mmmmm can't wait to get back Hage." Valo said to himself as he rode his new broom back to his squad's base. He was laying on his broom in a relaxed position, a bit tired from finishing a training session with his pal Fell in the Royal capital. It was a rare off day for Valo he usually spent most of his time going on magic knight job after job. But Fell wanted to brush up on his hand to hand combat skills some more, and since Valo didn't have much to do that day he agreed. But sometimes those little sessions turned into full fletched sparring matches between the two. So it left Valo just a little tired by the end of the day.
As his broom soared through the air, he kept it's height low enough just in case he heard someone in distress in his travels. He did see some reports about random bandit attacks in this part of town. Mostly because traders came in and out of Sosshi and since most couldn't defend themselves they were easy prey. It was in Valo's new moral compass to care about such things as a magic knight, but he remembered when he and his old gang used to do the robbing themselves. But Valo was a new man a man that could use his past knowledge of criminal activity to protect others now, and maybe get some coin doing it too.
Now since this was his day off Valo refused to wear his ugly green mantis cloak, not until he redesigned it to his liking. So for now Valo was dressed in grey vest, black pants and matching boots. His hands and forearms were wrapped in white hand wraps from his sparring earlier. His stark white hair was a bit messy, and around his neck lay a gold necklace that he liked to wear every now and then. Valo felt he was bit smelly do to his sparring session and really wanted to get home and shower, so while he did keep his eye out his main focus was getting back to base.
But alas something did catch his attention. Valo heard someone shout "Watchout!" and then it was followed by some music, it was a slow and quite melody but Valo was able to follow the tune towards the danger. Eventually he saw vendor on his way transporting goods most likely was stopped by some bandits that jumped from behind a rock. Valo was going to swoop in to intervene, but stopped mid-flight when he saw a young women come to his defense. She had vibrant blue hair with some clothes to match. Valo now sitting upright on his broom started to come in closer, but didn't really take action yet. He was intrigued when he saw he young women perform a spell with an instrument she had, it obvious she was the source the of music he had heard. "That's kind of interesting." Valo said to himself watching closely.
Truth be told Valo wasn't going to step in just to see what the women was capable of. She was of elf decent and kind of looked like a noble at least in appearance, she knew how to dress and plus that she could perform spells with music. Valo had to admit she was interesting. But Valo changed his mind about not butting in when he saw she was outnumbered and he sensed just a bit of nervousness. She didn't have a cloak to signify she was a magic knight, but neither did he so that bit of info didn't help much. Her confidence didn't waver though, but could she stop the bandits and protect the vendor at the same time. Valo deemed it was not worth the risk so he intervened.
He brought his broom down lower now coming into view, without saying a word he held up his index finger and a thin beam of fire and heat was shot hitting the bandit leader in his forehead. This spell wouldn't kill him though, Valo thought it was best to not take their lives.
"Ouoouuuuccchhh my head!" the leader squealed. But Before the bandits could even respond Valo was in the air his foot coming down on the bandit leaders forehead landing a kick directly on his face knocking him out.
"It looked like you two need the help." Valo said towards the young women and the vendor, with a grin on his face completely ignoring the other two bandits by his side one on his left and the other to his right. He didn't really seemed to be phased by their presence though.

If it was somewhere else without the man and his cartload of goods, Suna would have smiled as the man attempted to bully her. She certainly was a lithe and slender creature, and had no muscles to boost of. However, she had spent years perfecting her art. She would have definitely enjoyed a little verbal battle if she did not have a liability in tow.
She was about to start an attack spell when a shadow loomed overhead and the bandit leader just toppled over. "Wait, wha-" and saw the trail of smoke coming from the enemy’s forehead. The poor guy screeched like an owl about his head, and her head shot up to whoever just did that.
It turned out to be a man dressed in gray and black riding on a broom. I thought only witches could ride on brooms... No colored robe, and seemed to be factionless. Whichever side he was on, at least he was against the bandits. Those with a common enemy are friends.
I’ll need to get one of those brooms. She eyed it curiously, but did not speak up about it. Yet. She almost missed what happened next. The next second, he was in the air, and his foot went straight down onto the leader’s forehead. All right. Impressive. Especially the way he just stood there, grinning and looking highly pleased with himself while the two goons beside him were shocked frozen.
"It looked like you two need the help."
"Flashy," she admitted. "Thank you kindly," The elf pursed her lips, then nodded at the other two bandits. "Now perhaps you would like to step aside for a quick second, please?"
Without another word, she started a quick and lively tune. She shaped her aura into spears (ammo) that floated stationary next to her. As soon as she started playing sudden, accented notes, the spears then launched themselves out in a cone-shaped area, all five at once. This was Music Composition: Sforzando. The spears were shot out in the shape of a cone, aiming towards the bandits. Hopefully her new ally heeded her words and got out of the way.
To her satisfaction, the spears hit the bandits right in the chest. It drew blood, but she doubted they would die from it. They had intermediate health, from the looks of it. At least it would knock them back while they were still stunned from the sudden appearance of another fighter. It would be the perfect opening from the man to finish them off, if he had the mind to do so.

"Now perhaps you would like to step aside for a quick second, please?" Valo heard the young lady say, effectively ending his little moment to feel good about himself. Valo was a bit stubborn though, and for some odd reason didn't move out the way until the last minute. She started to play music again, a magic that Valo thought was very intriguing he never saw someone use spells through music before. Saw he mostly caught in the curiosity of it all. But once he realized what she intended to do, noticing spears being formed in mid air he dropped to the ground avoiding the attack that would pierce the bandits in the chest. Even though he got a warning he was still shocked by her attack, he didn't think she would actually have such dangerous spell up her sleeve. That was his fault though, something he had to relearn every now and then not to judge a book by its cover.
"Hey! That was kinda close!" Valo shouted towards the girl while still on the ground. But he didn't wait for a response he had to take advantage of the situation at hand. The bandit's were hurt bad but not knocked out yet, some of these bandits were pretty sturdy. While still on the ground Valo rotated his body using his legs doing a windmill with his legs to sweep the bandit on his left off his feet. The move had Valo rise up to a standing position which lead to an axe kick that directly hit the bandits face knocking him out. Wasting no time turned towards the last bandit left using the rotation to land a strong roundhouse kick to his jaw finishing him off as well. After finishing off the bandits Valo dusted himself off since he was on the ground for a bit.
He looked towards the two and was debating in his mind what the next course of action should be. Valo's greedy nature started to creep forward though, he could take advantage of the situation and offer to join them for payment. To be fair that was a fair enough trade, nothing wrong with making a little coin for some solid work. He walked forward and before he could speak he was interrupted by the vendor himself.
"You must help us! These bandits are crazy enough to attack us during the middle of the day! I'll pay you for your time! I just need to get to Sosshi with all my goods intact! Please!" shouted the vendor at Valo. It left Valo with quite a stunned face, that was going to be his exact proposal.
"Sure." Valo said shrugging leaving it nice and simple. "But tell me what are your names?" Valo asked wanting to get to know the two he was going to be traveling with. He mostly asked cause he was curious about the young women, she was capable wizard but didn't seem be a magic knight or a random rogue. She looked trustworthy, but one could never be to sure.

"Hey! That was kinda close!"
A small smile flitted across the elvish features. "I recall warning you?" It has been a while since she actually got to use her spells against real live enemies. It felt good to let it loose once in a while. Bonus was that it was for a good cause. She could argue it was all in self-defense, even without the promise of payment later on.
She watched the factionless man finish off the bandits, cleanly knocking them out. "Clean," she nodded in approval. It was always enjoyable to watch others fight. She was the analytical type, so being in spectator mode was her default position.
She listened as the vendor enthusiastically enlisted the new guy to his cause, and wondered just how much these tomatoes actually cost. She glanced over at the cartload. Sure, they were beautiful and ripe and unblemished, but he was paying not just one, but two protectors for these tomatoes? She shrugged. Whatever, as long as I am compensated for my time and energy.
"But tell me what are your names?"
The vendor said something, but she did not catch it. "Suna." That was all she offered. She shrugged again. "I bet there will be more later on," referring to the bandits. "Shall we be heading along now?" Not to mention how she was just itching to finish that book once they arrived in town.
As they started travelling again, Suna got to study her new companion a bit more. She had not noticed much while they were in the midst of battle, but now she got to look at him properly. He easily towered over her short 5’2”; even though she was an elf, she was on the shorter side. His shock of stark white hair was certainly something she had not seen before.
"Nice job back there." She could have knocked those bandits out back there, but he did well and it conserved some of her energy. She wondered if he was part of any group. From the looks of it, he could easily be either a rogue or Magic Knight. But there were problems with both of them.
First, he looks too clean-cut and mannerly to be a rogue, and second, she glanced at him, a thoughtful expression on her face, he is not wearing any robe or mantle to signify his faction."What’s your name? Which group do you hail from?" It was perfectly within his rights to not answer her, but nothing hurt from asking. They were on the same side, at least for now.
Then her astute ears picked out a rustle. They had passed into a more forested area, and bushes lined the path on both sides. It would be a good place for an ambush. "Here's more, I think," she murmured, eyes darting to and fro, wary. She already had her harp aligned to her chest, hands ready and poised to strike at the first sign of danger.

Suna had answered his question but kept it pretty simple, it was obvious she wanted to move on. Valo couldn't blame her though it's best they keep moving forward to avoid more and more attacks. He started some stretches to loosen himself up a bit more since he found himself going on another adventure of sorts. They started to travel again and for the most part Valo was in a clear head space, he wanted to get back to base to shower and rest but beating up some bad guys along the way was a fun opportunity he couldn't pass up. He walked beside Suna with his hands in his pockets, he got a better look at her and really started to think she looked to fancy to be out here helping vendors travel.
He heard her compliment which caused a smirk to appear on his face. It was always nice to get a compliment every now and then, but just this time he wouldn't let it get to his head. But she quickly followed up with questions of her own which were warranted. Valo had nothing to hide so need to lie to her, he then proceeded to answer her question. "Names just Valo and despite my current appearance I'm a magic knight from Green Mantis." He let the reveal of his squad linger in the air just a bit. He knew sometimes Green Mantis didn't have the best reputation as a magic knight squad. A reputation that him, his mentor of sorts Artemis and other current members were actively trying to change. Yeah most of them had criminal backgrounds, but he felt that someones past didn't have to define them as a person. It was current actions that did, and right now in his life Valo was a proud and resourceful magic knight who was on his way of climbing the ranks to be one of the best.
"What about you though? You a magic knight? I have the look of someone in the silver eagles, but its hard to tell. And your magic-" he said before he was cut off with her warning. But she was right this was a perfect area to have an ambush attack. Valo took a quick look at Suna she ready and prepared, it made Valo smile just a bit. She was small petite girl with a musical instrument by her chest, it looked she ready to play at a concert. But her face said she ready for a fight and seeing what she capable of earlier Valo knew better than to underestimate her.
Now this situation was nothing new to Valo, not because he was magic knight but because he used to be criminal. This gave him the knowledge and experience of how most bandits think, when performing an ambush some dumb bandits would stick to ground attacks. But more competent ones would try to use certain advantages, the trees being one of them. Valo had a good idea of where the bandits were hiding, he just needed an exact location but they would give him that information soon enough. He subtly activated a spell of his Flare Accel, this spell would substantially increase his speed and reaction time. But also light small embers beneath his feet, this little ignite though would provoke one of the bandits hiding in a tree to their right to toss their small tomahawk at them aiming at the cart of tomatoes. But the toss was untrained, and just a tad bit to slow. Slow enough for Valo to catch it just before it hit the cart, protecting it completely.
"There!" Valo stated confidently pointing at a tree to their left that had two bandits crouching on top of it. Valo spun the tomahawk once and threw it back at the bandit with a good amount of strength behind it, piercing his shoulder causing him to fall hitting the ground hard. Leaving one bandit in the tree and another injured one on the ground.
He trusted Suna to take care of the other bandit, as he focused his attention to the right quickly firing off another Burner Finger attack. Sending a thin beam of fire and heat that not only pierced an incoming spear but also the bandit the threw it in his forearm. The sudden act left the Vendor speechless, as the bandit fell to the ground. "Thats all you guys got for ranged attacks! You guys kinda suck!" Valo said wasting no time to dash towards his right to take care of the bandit.

Suna caught the other man looking at her, and though she felt self-conscious, she would meet the gaze directly. Before, she would have to appear strong and shut down the gossipers by keeping her head high and holding their stares. Sometimes it worked to silence the whispers, sometimes it did not. She was not sure why she was doing that now, staring back. She dropped her eyes, focusing now on the road ahead.
"Names just Valo and despite my current appearance I'm a magic knight from Green Mantis."
"Green Mantis?" She cocked her head. "I’ve met some of you recently. Actually," she pursed her lips, "a few of you. Three Green Mantises, one Crimson Lion, and one Black Bull, to be specific." Of course she would list them out like that, she was analytical and ran on lists and numbers. The squad names meant nothing to her, as she knew nothing about them.
So far, from the interactions she has observed, Black Bulls and Green Mantises were at odds with each other. Or maybe it was just the particular squad members that she happened to meet. The rivalry meant nothing to her, as it does not touch upon her life in the Outer Forest. "Why aren’t you wearing your robe, then?" She asked curiously. "Wanted to go undercover today?" It was just a guess.
"What about you though? You a magic knight? I have the look of someone in the silver eagles, but its hard to tell. And your magic-"
But she had cut him off. "Later," she murmured. Her companion was activating some sort of spell, and she heard the rush of a knife. He was a blur, but he caught the knife.
He shouted a warning at her of the other bandit. I see you up there. Her fingers moved on their own accord, striking up the quick melody for her Sforzando. Her aura shaped her spears, and her sound shot them off, towards the intruding hiding up in the trees. Suna watched as one of the spears caught the bandit on the shoulder and one on his leg, effectively knocking him off his perch and disabling him.
Just to make sure the ones on the ground stayed down, she changed her tune to a slow pace. Her sound again spilled out and encircled the disabled bandits on the ground, restraining their movements even further. Ritenuto would keep them down for a while longer, and Vampiric Magic would sap some of their mana. Unfortunately it would not kill them, but it would effectively damage them down for now.
"What a waste," she looked on thoughtfully, "I really need a single target spell next time. All I have are AoE spells..." She looked for her companion. He had made quick work of them...almost like he knew how they worked and thought.

Tightly Bound: Restraining based spells may now deal damage without the need of an offensive spec. The damage they are capable of dealing is the rank of their spell minus one.
Vampiric Magic: Once per post, a single spell (cast by the wielder of this perk) that comes into contact with magical targets may siphon mana from up to 2 of those in contact with the spell.
-----
To activate this restraining spell, Suna plucks out the melody on her right hand while tampering the full sound by lightly muffling the strings with her left hand, indicating its restraining effects. As the music flows from the instrument, the sound takes form of a small flowing stream that is 1 meter in width. It snakes towards the enemy and spreads in a circle (1 meter in diameter) beneath each target's feet. When in contact with its target(s), the aura spreads upwards to bind movements and to slow down their speed by -2m/s. This will only affect the first [1 + (Control/5)] targets in contact, one additional target will have their speed debuffed by -1m/s, and any other targets will not be affected.
This binding restraint is an AoE effect. The spell only physically affects the enemy, and cannot restrain any spoken or verbal spell castings of retaliation. Vampiric Magic's mana drain will only be applied to the two targets of Suna's choosing. To sustain the bind, Suna must keep playing in ritenuto, the tempo gradually becoming slower and slower. The slower and calmer her music is, the more effective the bind. Any distractions to her state of mind will affect success of sustaining the spell. The restraints have the health of junior rank spells - if dealt damage that are equal or above the spell's rank, the restraints will dissolve and be dispelled.
This restraining spell is not limited to which instrument she uses, as the technique is the same.

While Valo was rushing forward, the bandit he had his eyes on managed to rise up to his feet. But his actions were null and void, as soon as Valo was close enough his fist hit the bandit's jaw knocking him out. Satisfied Valo stood tall his Accel Flare spell still active, he rubbed his wrist and looked over at he vendor who looked afraid but somewhat content at least for now. The vendor nodded in thanks at Valo, but Valo was already on the move again getting a good look at Suna situation.
He took off in another high speed dash, the cart in front of him he jumped into the air landed on the edge of the cart using looking on as Suna dealt with her side of bandits. "All done?" Valo asked her still looking intrigued by her magic. He would deactivate his spell since all the bandits were now taken care of, the cart of tomatoes unharmed and the vendor himself perfectly fine and safe. Valo hopped off the cart and walked towards Suna.
"Your magic I haven't seen magic like that before. I'll admit I'm a rather new magic knight it's only been a few weeks but, this is the first time I've seen spells come out of music like that it's really interesting!" Valo said looking closer at Suna and her magic instrument, as they would start to move on again to get the vendor to Sosshi.
"Oh and about my magic knight cloak, it's in bad taste. So no undercover stuff haha. I tend not to wear it when Im not on a job or mission given to me by our squad. I wouldn't wear it at all to be honest." Valo said jokingly but he was kind of serious. He took his personal appearance oddly serious, and the cloak just didn't fit his style. He wouldn't wear one on a regular until he got a custom made one, which he was working on.
"The funny thing is you met more green mantis members than me! I haven't really taken the time to meet or get to know anyone yet, except for one. You haven't answered my question yet though, so what about you?" Valo asked his arms behind his head, as they casually made their way through the forest and towards Sosshi.

⊹ Female ⊹ Elf ⊹ Junior Rank ⊹
Suna had cleared her side, and now watched as her companion punched the bandit leader and finished him off. Well, finished him to the point of knocking him out cold. Clean and effective. It was not often when she found someone else who could fight in tune with her style. It was such a satisfying thing, when she can find an ally who she harmonizes well with. Suna was grateful that he happened to come along the way and joined them.
The tomato vendor looked grateful too, and the tired lines on his face seemed to have loosened up a bit. It must be because he has seen the power and skill of the two mages, and was not as worried. His cartload so far has not been harmed, and his precious tomatoes are safe—for now. With those bandits taken care of, the trio continued on their way to Sosshi.
"Your magic I haven't seen magic like that before. I'll admit I'm a rather new magic knight it's only been a few weeks but, this is the first time I've seen spells come out of music like that it's really interesting!"
The elf was taken aback. "Oh, thanks." She was not used to people being interested in her magic. It was not a common element, sound. In some ways, it was mainly invisible and did not show itself unless properly conducted. When she first discovered her element, she was disappointed. Her fellow witch friends all had something mainstream, such as earth or fire or wind. Yet, for the element of sound—there was not a lot of information or resources on it, and no one in the Forest had that. Hence, many witches looked down on it as an odd and impractical element, and those who were jealous of her were comforted, despite her also being an elf. After all, what good was it to be blessed with deep wells of mana but not be able to use it?
Thus Suna had spent most of her years in solitude practicing and learning about her element through trial and error. That is, until she started sneaking out of the Forest and found a treasure called the Royal Archives. She befriended the librarian, and was able to glean more knowledge about her strange element. It was then that she learned she also possessed another element. Somewhat uncommon, and more minor. But the elf was still learning more about it, and have only figured enough to incorporate her second element into her attack spells.
All in all, this Valo was probably one of the first to actually take a positive interest in her magic, and Suna was sincerely grateful for it. "It’s not a very common element. In fact, I don’t think I’ve met someone else with the same type of magic yet." The blue-eyed elf could be dense when it comes to certain things. She had always thought of her element type as different in a negative sense. However, she has yet to understand how her unique specialty marks her apart. In her mind, because it was different from the other witches she knew, she thus deemed it as bad.
When he was explaining why he chose not to wear his squad’s uniform, Suna nodded in understanding. "I wouldn’t want to wear anything that’s untasteful either," she remarked. "What you wear shows what kind of person you are, after all." Though she would not admit it, she cared about her appearance and her clothes.
"The funny thing is you met more green mantis members than me! I haven't really taken the time to meet or get to know anyone yet, except for one."
"Really? That’s interesting." Even though Suna had met a few of the Magic Knights from Green Mantis, it was never her going out to find them. They always seem to find her. It was all very interesting, but the group must have a common theme or personality among its members. She did not completely understand everything about the squads yet, but she was slowly gleaning information with each individual she met.
"You haven't answered my question yet though, so what about you?"
He really was not going to let her go on this one, is he? "Hmmm...what about me?" She echoed, a little mischievous smile playing around her lips. "My name is Suna, I’m an elf, and no, I’m not part of any Magic Knight squad." She was only stating the obvious points, but she was not going to say she was a witch. She did not know how people would react to that bit of information. Though she was slowly becoming more in tune with Clover Kingdom, she still lived in the Outer Forest. In addition, witches were taught to look down on anyone who was not a proper witch. She imagined that it would be the same in the outside world. That was why she was so evasive when it came to her identity. For now, she will try to keep that bit secret until she figured out what people thought of witches in general.
"Oh! I meant to ask you earlier, where did you get that flying broom?" Suna tried to mask the eagerness out of her voice, but failed royally. She was a witch, and what was a witch without her flying broom? She should be ashamed of herself. She really needed to get one, for the sake of her reputation. For the sake of all witches’ reputations.

To activate this attack spell, Suna will strike up a quick series of notes, loud and sharp like the patter of winter hail. Her pure aura will morph into white flint-like arrowheads (2in by 3in) that hangs above the enemy, and her sound will make those arrowheads fall down in an circular area of 10 meters. The density of falling arrowheads will depend on her ability to play in polyphony, a musical texture consisting of two or more simultaneous lines of independent melodies, as opposed to just one dominant melodic voice.
To sustain the barrage, Suna must keep her tempo above vivace (lively and brisk tempo, 156–176 bpm) and play a series of tremolos, which is repeating a specific note or notes as rapidly as possible to produce a quivering effect. Apex Predator gives this spell an additional +3 power stack-able buff caps after 5 attacks or +15 to the enemy. At Suna's current junior level, it cannot be sustained for more than three motifs (three posts, not including the post when the spell is cast); then the piece must be started again from the beginning and the spell must be recast.

This girl was definitely hiding something, Valo could tell he was a new magic knight but most certainly not new to meeting all types of people. Especially ones that have something to hide, but he didn't mind it at all. She was being very selective with what she wanted to reveal about herself, and that made sense to him. She doesn't know him at all, if anything it was smart to not reveal to much. But what she did say Valo was able to relate too aside from her magic, unlike hers his magic is very common. That fact used to bother him he initially wanted something more unique, but he's come to find that he uses his element in a unique way unlike others and that sits well with him.
But Suna hit it right on the nose when she said "What you wear shows what kind of person you are, after all." Valo agreed to that one hundred percent. He wasn't shy about wanting to look his best with his clothes, accessories and cleanliness. But at the same time Valo wasn't afraid to get dirty if need be.
But for the most part Suna kept it short saying she wasn't part of any magic knight squad. This thought lingered in Valo's head just for a little bit, considering she run ins with a good amount of other magic knights she probably wasn't a rogue. But a mere civilian with a lot of talent in the magic arts, Valo probably would have went that route too if he didn't have something to prove. But since Suna wanted to keep it short Valo followed suit, no need in constant picking for information and conversation.
But that soon came to an end when Suna asked a rather interesting question, Valo could easily tell she was eager when asking about his broom. He figured since she was so interested why not give her a better look. He summoned his broom to his side from his grimoire, and placed it infront of Suna so she can get a good look at it. "I got it back in my hometown Kikka, an old man needed some wood. It wasssss a lot more interesting then it sounds. Haha." Valo said remembering how he had to fight a number of thugs and bandits to get the old man's wood back. But in the end he got a free broom out of it.
"If you want I can show you the place where I got it from, sometime." Valo offered Suna. Since she seemed so enthusiastic about it, why not help her since he knew the shop and the owner pretty well now.
"Although we might have to gather some more wood now, the owner is pretty old. He can still make the best brooms in Clover but he needs help every now and then." Valo mentioned thinking about it more. "If you want to try it out go ahead." Valo motioned towards the broom if she wanted to get on, and try it out for herself.
[break]This appears to be a basic broom, albeit there is a bit of fine fabric braided along the shaft and connecting the broom handle to the broom head. The broom was payment in exchange for services rendered for Kikka's once famed broom maker ["Wood for Brooms" Mission].

Unlike the Magic Knight, Suna was not used to meeting new people--hence her wariness when it comes to talking about herself. But she was glad when he did not press it further, because the elf would have completely clammed up if he did. It was also interesting how they both shared a similar regard for clothes and styles. Call it vain, but it was the truth.
Also, she had not expected him to summon his broom and show it to her. But he did, and she clapped her hands together, almost in a child-like manner. "Oooh, that’s so cool!" At this point, she did not even try to hide her excitement. In the Forest, brooms had to be earned, and they were limited in number. This lack of brooms was what made them so valuable, and any witch with a magical flying broom was respected and looked upon as a ‘proper witch.’ From what she gathered from the Magic Knight, it seemed like anyone could get it with a little work.
"Kikka, you say? Got it." She will remember that town name. She will rush over there as soon as she can. After this mission, though. "That’s your hometown? You must know the owner well then, to get a broom like that!" He might think her strange, but brooms were almost like a treasure to witches. Her azure eyes were practically glowing now, and her more lighthearted self was showing through, a rare side of her that almost never demonstrated itself.
"Where is the town at?" She had learned enough to know that Clover Kingdom had three main areas--the Forsaken Region, Common Region, and the Noble Region. She has the most exposure in the Noble Region, in the Capital City, because that was where the Royal Archives were. On days when she could travel far, she would go there and read her heart out. But on most days, she would visit local towns with libraries or any shop with books. Today was such a day. She had almost forgotten about her unfinished book waiting for her in the town, but the thought of getting her own broom was enough for her to put that aside for the time being. With that, her pace picked up slightly. They were making good time, not much slower than if she had been travelling by herself.
To his offer, the elf nodded, willing to take him up on it. "Yes, that would be lovely, thankies!" Whether he actually decided to go with her later on is uncertain, but she would go right after this job was finished.
"If you want to try it out go ahead."
"Oh, my. Are you sure?" He really had such a kind heart. Suna was starting to realize that now. He did not need to, but he had summoned his broom and even offered to let her try it. "Umm, but wouldn’t it only run on its owner’s magic?"
At least, that was what brooms back at home were like. Each broom knew its mistress, and would only respond to her magical calls and commands. They were useless in the hands of another witch. She imagined it would be the same here. Or did these brooms work differently? Even so, there was an unspoken rule that a witch’s broom was to be respected. Nobody was to touch another’s broom. Plus, she did not know how to fly it. She was vain enough to not want anybody to watch her fail. She gazed longingly at the offered item, but shook her head.
"Thank you, but don’t know how to fly it. I wouldn’t want to break it if I fall or something." Nonetheless, she was touched by the sincere offer. "Well, let’s get going then, shall we?" Her mood had lightened considerably, and her steps had a renewed sense of purpose.

Valo smirked when he saw Suna's pure excitement when he bought his broom out again. Usually Valo wasn't so nice and generous especially around new people, but he was in a good state of mind also he enjoyed Suna's presence. His thoughts were correct in thinking the act would loosen her up even if just a little bit.
"Haha yeah you can say that, we had our differences but now me and the old man are cool." Valo said in response to Suna comments about knowing the owner well. He remembered that at first him and the old broom maker got off on the wrong foot, due to Valo's past of being a thief himself. But Valo was able to make it up and redeem himself but not only bringing back some wood that was stolen but also saving his dog. The thought put a small smirk on his face.
"Kikka is right on the border of the Noble Region, you can actually see some parts of the royal palace in certain places. It's not hard to find, you'll be alright." Valo answered her question. When said that though it started to remind him of his time in Kikka and not just the good times. It reminded him of when his father came to visit him, and just left when he deemed Valo wasn't going to be good enough. The main reason for his drive and why he seeks strength. But Valo shook his head and focused on the present, seeing Suna denied his request to try his broom out. He had planned on still controlling his broom and just keeping it level to the ground
"Well if your'e sure. But don't worry its all good." Valo said sending his broom back to his grimoire, she did seem a lot more welcoming though a noticeable prep in her step. So mission accomplished was what Valo thought.
They had walked quite a distance now nearly reaching the end of the forest, Sosshi was getting closer and closer. But as they walked further one more bandit attack would await them at the end of the forest. This time it was just two bandits, these were a bit more intimidating then the last few that they dealt with. One had more a rounded shape and stood really tall, the other matched him in height but was really skinny. The wider one held a long battle axe in hand tapping it against his shoulder, and the other held two long daggers in both hands twirling them between his long gross fingers. Despite their rather gruesome, gross and intimidating appearance Valo walked closer signaling the vendor to stop.
Seeing Suna in action earlier he knew she prepared. He whispered over to her "Looks like these are the last two we gotta deal with, they look like the real leaders here. They look tough but they shouldn't be much a problem if we work together." Valo said confidently. He had somewhat of a good idea on how Suna's magic worked, so Valo was pretty confident that they could take them easy easy and swiftly.
Valo then looked back at the two thugs. "Aye!! You guys get one warning! Move! Or we deal with you like we dealt with those other bums!" Valo said with a smile. Crossing his arms now standing a few meters away from them. The skinny thug started to snicker and laugh. "You leave the cart and the horse and all three of you get to leave with your lives." he shouted back. Valo chuckled and turned towards Suna and bowed gracefully while saying. "I'll let you make the first move." hoping she would use her restraining spell on them that way he could go in for an attack.

⊹ Female ⊹ Elf ⊹ Junior Rank ⊹
Suna noticed that the other mage seemed to be going through various emotions, in his body language and facial contenance. Not only does she have the element of sound, she also has pure aura, so she could notice things about other peoples’ ambience. Right now, his aura seemed to be wavering in and out, and the color darkened and lightened at various points. She was no mind reader, but would guess that there were both positive and negative thoughts going through the male’s head.
However, that was all she could see at the moment, since she still has not figured out the full extent of this element. Most of her observation skills came from years of watching people, not from her magic. Also, she did not notice that her aura was shining brighter than usual, after seeing the broom. It did dim slightly as she watched him send it back into his grimoire, but the blue glow was still there as the forest path widened and opened to its end. Finally! However, her guards were immediately up at the sight of two figures—intimidating and unwelcoming—at the end of the forest road.
"Just how many are there?" She murmured to herself, shaking her head at the bandits. She threw a quick look at the vendor. Guess it was a good move on his part to hire us. Valo was whispering something to her, and the elf nodded. "Sounds good. Same thing?" She asked, referring to their earlier battle sequence.
Well, I guess so. She mused, and watched Valo taunt the bandits. He was stalling for time, making time for her to set up her spells. She kept her eyes trained forward on the scene, but her fingers moved. After all these years of practice, she knew exactly where each string was, where and how each string should be played. A soft and slow melody drifted around them, her Ritenuto restraining spell streaming towards the unwelcomed duo. It flowed underneath their feet, and upon contact, coiled upwards on their legs like a stubborn vine. It would slow their movement speed down, enough for Valo to go in like before.
"Why, thank you, good sir," she smiled. Her Vampiric Magic kicked in again, allowing her to replenish the mana she used for casting. "Your move." She had set the stage, and would be ready with backup if needed.

[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her guzheng by humming a G (392hz). Her guzheng is 64"x12.6" / 162x32cm.
For this attack spell, Suna shapes her aura into spears (ammo) that float stationary next to her until she plays sudden, accented notes, which will then launch themselves out in a cone-shaped area all at once. Each spear is 60in / 152cm in length and 2in / 5cm in width, with the tip being slightly wider 3in / 7.6cm. The maximum number of spears Suna can use is 1 + (Control/5). Apex Predator gives this spell an additional +3 power stack-able buff caps after 5 attacks or +15 to the enemy. This spell does not sustain, as it launches all its spears out at the same time. The more spears she has, the wider the cone.
This attack spell is not limited to which instrument she uses to launch the spears, as the technique is the same.
[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her harp by humming a C (262hz). Her harp is 33"x19"x6" / 83x48x15cm.
[Optional] Summoning An Instrument: If Suna does not already have an instrument on hand, she may summon her harp by humming a C (262hz). Her harp is 33"x19"x6" / 83x48x15cm.

"Haha your'e the best!" Valo said doing a tricep stretch, as Suna casted her spell. These two thugs were going to be the last ones it looked like, so Valo wanted to make this quick but still have a bit of fun. Now that their movements were going to be much slower thanks to Suna, Valo could rush in and take them out with less to worry about. Without wasting anymore time, Valo dashed in heading towards the skinny one first. He would swing his long skinny arm holding his dagger towards Valo, but his movements were much to slow. Valo ducked below it and landed a palm uppercut right on his jaw, his strength lifting him off the ground and knocking him back a few meters.
Valo turned his attention to the big one now, he was already rushing in with his tall battle axe. But he was even slower then the other one, simply sways to the side was all Valo needed to avoid his attacks. As soon as he got an opening Valo landed a roundhouse kick straight to his gut, forcing him to fall to the ground. Valo spinned and landed another kick square in his jaw knocking him out.
The little fight wasn't over yet as the skinny thug stood up and came in charging towards Valo, but the young magic knight just landed an elbow strike right on his nose knocking him out finally. Now that it was over for the most part, Valo let out a sigh. "Well those punks didn't amount to much did they?" Valo chuckled as he asked Suna and the vendor. He walked back over to them his hands behind his head. The two thugs were clearly knocked out on the ground.
"Now lets finally get to Sosshi." Valo said gesturing for the vendor to start moving the cart as they were nearly just out of the woods, and that much closer to Sosshi. As they walked on nearly completing the job, Valo just wanted to ask the blue haired musician a few more questions. He looked towards her and paused for a moment before proceeding to ask.
"Hey Suna do you plan on becoming a magic knight? With magic like yours you would probably be pretty good at it and make some good money while doing it. Your magic being as unique as it is, im pretty sure any squad would want you to join them. Just something to think about, I don't know if it was already on your mind but I think you should look into it." Valo said casually towards Suna, honestly wondering if she did plan on becoming a magic knight.
