Alma had gotten up earlier than usual on this particular morning, it was the day of his first task as a Crimson Lion and he was a little anxious about screwing things up. He went back to the letter he had received and read it over again so he could get the information correctly, he had sent his own letter to the Azure Deer member that he would be working with to meet him in Kiten as they would need to go shopping beforehand. He also expressed that he should leave his magic knight mantle back at his squad's headquarters for both their safeties and he would himself be doing the same. Given the job they had been tasked with he believed it would be better to leave as much evidence of who and what they were behind as they had no idea of who the members of this group of assassins were or if they had connections within the city, they could call on for information. In his mind, it was better to be safer than sorry and hoped the other mage agreed with his decision.
Covering his mouth he moved out of his bed dressed in an elegant baby pink nightgown and headed to the bathroom to take a bath. After a good while, he left drying before moving to his wardrobe to decide what he would be wearing at least until he got to Kiten as he decided he may as well get a new outfit out of this expedition since he knew the other mage he was meeting was male too. He decided to choose a baby pink and white loli dress with white stockings and black shoes. He done his nails in a matching baby pink colour before putting his hair up in a large pink bow at the back of his head. Standing he moved to the full-length mirror in his room making sure everything was perfect in his mind, he moved back to his vanity table and put on his jade goat pendant tucking it underneath his dress. His pendant was much like his marking, it was part of him and he refused to go anywhere without it, he did put on a small silver ring on his left four-finger and a jade bracelet with twelve jade charms each one the symbol of the branches of his family.
When he was finished in his mind he left his room and headed down the currently quiet corridors of the Crimson Lions headquarters, he was glad mostly everyone was sleeping as it gave him some time to think. He retrieved the broom that he was told he could use and sat sidesaddle before starting to fly towards the store he was to meet Joseph. How he was dressed was how he had always done so, so this was nothing new to the young mage, in fact he would find it an odd experience if he had to dress like a male, he did wonder however if the other knew what to expect on this job and just how he would feel having to dress like a girl to fulfil a mission but that was something that he would find out soon he guessed.

It was safe to say that the peachy boy had been more than a little eager to get their first assignment. There had been eagerness in them while going to get it that had shown in the sway of each step. While the tunes all around had been alluring, nothing could distract the young man from that goal. Wanting to do good things that would help protect those of the kingdom. It would made sense to start small, so Joseph had accepted the first one without much thought to it. Was it something like a lost pet? That was found out after Joseph had left the office. The young man movements stilled a bit, focus soaking towards the paper. Was this punishment for thinking all jobs to beginners would be simple? There had been a lot of things the pink eyed man had been ready for, but cross-dressing wasn't one of them. The stress showed It showed visibly by the shrinking of color from their already pale but warmly colored skin and changing from lips parting yo closed on and off. No sound came from their lips. The closest to considering dressing of the opposite sex before this point involved female main characters of books. That didn't help on figuring out how to become a convincing young woman. First things first, he had to write a letter to make sure he would be able to shop first, not in the same town as the job.
So he wrote a response letter to the job that simply spoke needing to go to a store before the job. In receiving a response letter from the crimson lion member though? It seemed the other person needed to shop as well, the stranger actually had that thought first. That person even had a specific town and shop in mind. Were they male or female? Did it matter? Not wearing a mantle there made sense, even if it was just doing something before the job starts. If either of them are caught wearing their mantle before going, it would be more likely one of them would be recognized as a magic knight while trying to work undercover. The letters made Joseph feel like the person he would be working with was either calmer or better at thinking all of this out. They were going to meet up at a shop, so not all hope was lost. He had been so freaked out about trying to figure out how to get their twig like build into something feminine. Joseph was as lost as ever by the time the day of the job had arrived. A shower was taken in the morning, hair brushed and braided out of habit. Short hair was harder to keep out of the way to him, braids made it easy to ignore.
He had nothing feminine owned. Outside of the guild mantle that wasn't going to be taken along, all the clothes looked the same. He tended to buy clothes in bulk when needing new things, that way family was less likely to get concerned. Cobborn quickly left to arrive to get to the shop as fast as possible. Maybe if he got there fast enough he could figure out what to do. For some reason everything felt more real once arriving. Their already pale face went even whiter, body trembling a bit. Maybe some talking with the hands would be calming? Many people didn't know sign language, so it was normally fine to use. Of course that wasn't always the case, but enough that the young man saw it as a safe way to talk to themselves. 'How will I know if the other person is here or not when we never met before? What will I do about my flat build? I want to do this well, but how can I pull this off? This is the first time I ever even had to consider my looks, outside my peach colors.' A drawn out breath was taken. There were still no vocal words quite yet, though there was quite a bit of body language.
Their expression had started off looking full of panic. The more the music lover spoke with their hands, the less tense his face and body seemed to get. Their muscles weren't exactly loose yet, but now he looked a lot more ready to face the day. Should he go in now? Of course using his hands to quietly say these things didn't give any answers and moving your hands a lot while standing outside of a shop probably looked a bit off. 'You can do this, don't be so worried. Think positively, the days song already sounds so sweet.' This was still enough to give some confidence back. Joseph could feel their voice returning. At this point his muscles had lost all the remaining anxiety that had been bundled, though a bit of it was lingering in his smile and eyes. The want to join the music he could hear from every turn and corner still wasn't back, but thinking and interacting with others would be easier now. “Should go inside, or wait out here? Well, I need to at least buy a dress...”
Alma had landed a little while and looked around the sun was up quite a bit now, he would have estimated it to be around ten to ten-thirty in the morning. He started to walk towards one of his favoured boutiques in the region when he came across a peached haired male wearing glasses, he decided to take a moment to look the other up and down and just with how anxious and fidgety he was he guessed this was his partner this time around. "I am guessing you are Joseph?" he said with a gentle and sweet voice doing a small courtesy to be polite to the other. "I am Alma, I am to be your companion on this task. It is a pleasure to meet you." he informed the other, he normally would give his last name, his branch within the family and squad but right now that was far too risky even if he did feel comfortable where he was he knew everything had ears and he wasn't about to be the reason why this job failed. They needed to know who the target was and regardless of how much distaste he felt for this kind of job or having to keep his pride for his family hidden it was something he was told to do and so he would do so efficiently.
He took his hand suddenly and smiled "If you keep reacting like a nervous wreck then we will be found out for sure and if that happens someone will die are you prepared for that." it may have been a drastic move but he needed to get the other to focus and realise what was on the line, his discomfort of being in a dress and heels for a few hours would mean saving another's life. To him, the trade-off would have been fair to him if the roles were reversed. They were magic knights and sometimes that came with discomforts but they pushed past it and came out stronger as it was for the good of the kingdom. "Remember actions come with consequences and sometimes they aren't ones that can be corrected, we only get one chance at this." he said removing his hands from the others. He had sent a letter by a trusted messenger to let the boutique owner know that he wanted to hire the shop for the day and would prepare to be called Meifeng on this day alone and would be being joined by a young lady like himself. This store knew of his anatomy and it didn't bother them as in the mind of the young noble he was a girl and was just doing what normal young women do.
A shop assistant came to the door and opened the door with a bright smile "Miss Meifeng it is a pleasure to see you, it has been a while." the assistant was flight attendant happy which didn't bother Alma in the slightest it made her happy.
"Hello Oba, it has been quite a while. This is my sister Yinye, she thinks she keeps dressing like a boy and father is going absolutely crazy at this point." he said playing his part for the moment
"Oh, we can definitely help pamper her so she will be a pride to the family." she said taking Joseph by the hand and bringing him into the shop without another word.
Alma walked in quickly after the pair and moved to a chair to go get his current makeup removed and redone in reds and golds he was so glad that this place was an all in one store or they'd spend more time running between shops to make sure they looked fine. When his eyeshadow was done quite it was subtle considering the colour combination he had decided, it stood to reason after all that they would have assassins in every social step of the social ladder so they could blend in with ease, after all, it was best to have many tools than have only one and trying to make it fit. As the rest of his make up was being done so was his hair and nails, he was using this as a reason to get pampered why not since it had an actual legitimate reason for it to happen. His hair was done up ornately with golden pins with rubies to keeping everything in place as well as keep the flow of the colour combination he had chosen, his nails also getting the same red and gold treatment. He did glance over to Joseph to see how he was doing, the assistants showing him different colours of lipstick, eyeshadows, nail polishes, pins, ribbons, books on different hairstyles before bringing out racks upon racks of clothing for Joseph to choose between at that moment Alma knew it was going to be sink or swim for his partner but he wasn't about to step in unless he was asked to. If and only if that moment occurred he would choose colour combinations, hairstyle and outfit but not before it as it wasn't his job to babysit another after all Joseph like himself was a magic knight and it wasn't exactly the easiest job.
After an hour Alma's hair was completely finished as was his makeup and nails, he moved to the rack of clothing and chose a traditional hanfu in vibrant reds and golds before going to change into it. It had been a long time since he wore something like this but he thought what the hell, not everyone was going to come from the same background or culture and it wasn't like he could hide his. He waited for Joseph to be ready before moving around him as if studying to see if there was anything that stood out or needed altering when he was satisfied he would thank the shop for their help before heading towards the meeting place of the assassins. His eyes looked over to Joseph and smiled "How was it to be pampered sister?" he asked as if Joseph really was part of his family "I hope you don't feel too odd but like I said it is needed for everyone to be happy." he repeated hoping that Joseph got what he was getting at after all soon they would be at the meeting and the last thing they needed was for anything to go wrong because one of them was nervous about the clothing they had to wear. "If needed I can go alone if you don't feel comfortable." he whispered only loud enough that Joseph himself would be able to hear allowing him one final chance to back out before it was past the point of no return

The azure deer member had thought there had been no expectations of who or what their partner on this mission would look like, but it seemed the young man was wrong. Looking to towards the new voice that spoke their name had lead to an unexpected sight. Elegance was an attractive thing and this girl had it in spades. He baby pink dress stood out against the pale skin, deeper pink eyes, and purple hair. He had no idea that a soft pink could help a normal pink stand out more, but it seemed to be so. Almas elegance was nearly heart stopping. Color had started to spread across his face. She was so pretty! He nodded a bit to her question on his own identity, to which they nodded to. “Pleased to meet you Alma.” There was more he wanted to say, but that wouldn't be appropriate. They were both there for serious work after all, not for him to flirt. But that serious work also required not wearing their squad mantle, not giving away that they were both magic knights, nor anything that would hint as much. There was no resistance to his hand getting taken, nor offense taken to the next comment. She was right after all. If he wanted to do a good job, then one must stay calm and collected, not panic.
It didn't matter that this was new, different, and strange. An individual cannot aide in the protection of the country if they allow themselves to fall apart over the suggestion of wearing a dress. “I wont be nervous anymore, thank you for your help.” Cobborn had known what was on the line, but it had been harder to figure out the right mindset to be in for him and how to get there. Being reminded of the reality of things from an outside voice had been helpful. While it would be better to have that ability without someones help, that wasn't something he had time to work on right now. That would have to be worked on after this mission, which he would. “I was over thinking the consequences, so I'll focus on the task instead.” It wasn't good to over think what will happen if you aren't good enough, so he was going to stop doing that. It didn't help anyone to get so worried that their voice wouldn't come out. Most people were effected by frayed nerves in a very different way, something carved into a person from culture, family, and personal experiences. For Joseph the third thing had been what lead to years of total silence, causing the act of speech to not feel as natural or normal as it should.
That meant in a mission like this it was more important than ever to stay calm. His emotions were far easier to read as being on the high end since it was when their voice stopped working. Peach pink eyes briefly looked down at Almas hands after their hold ended. He couldn't allow those words to be wasted. Focus on the task at hand and keep calm. One cannot do their best if held down by thoughts of what could happen if they fail. It was through the brief conversation the other had with the shop owner that their cover names and identities were better known to the peach haired male. Alma was Meifang and he was her sister Yinye. It was the first time the Azure Deer member had ever been welcomed to a shop in such a way, but this just showed how prepared his partner had been. “I will be in your care.” This was gently spoken to the tailor as he followed her into the shop, feeling far ready to plunge into an unfamiliar identity and way of dress. Inside the building was of course where clothing was picked and changed into. A corset was underneath the clothing, as well as a bra with some padding.
This didn't suddenly make him look like a lady with a large set, but it did at least give a womanly shape that had been needed. Bloomers a sort of womans undergarment that was taken advantage of in this situation. The dress chosen had a closed back, the collar being ruffled ribbon like fabric. The top part of the dress clung to his form, ruffled fabric doing down in a princess seam shape. The dresses bottom had multiple layers. The first layer was the shortest, hugging near the hips. Five different lines of frilled fabric went down that layer, each area between the lines curving at the bottoms. The bottom was also frilled, a small bow at each point that the bottoms dipped up and met the frilled fabric going down. The fabric layer under that went lower. It had same design as the first layer, only turned a bit. The third layer was a bit lower than the second, it's turns going in the same direction as the first layer. The fourth ended around their calfs with a smooth and even ruffle trim. Any layering after that one ended at the same length as the fourth one. His legs were covered with white stockings, wearing a pair of black mary jane shoes.
The dresses sleeves were long and multi layered angel sleeves with lacing at the end of each layer of fabric. This clothing was the most complicated looking outfit they had ever put on, having a mix of purple haze and eggplant as the outfits overall base color, that being accented with yellow citrine gemstones. His hair was tied into two long ponytails, making it easier to clean the wild looking bangs of his. The hair in the pigtails was thick and wavy due to the large amount of time it typically spent braided. Each ponytail looked to be tied by yellow citrines. Though that was clearly impossible, the right hair tie made such a look possible. The makeup on his face was minimal but still had purpose. His lashes looked thicker and fuller and face more feminized. His eyebrows had been shaped to look a little thinner and more feminine. This had been had for him, but made possible by taking everything one detail at a time. Panicking wouldn't have helped at all. Going to the assassins meeting place with Alma felt a bit strange, but he walked with an amount of confidence not normally shown in their stride.
Joseph didn't feel that way in the slightest, but he was trying to play a 'character'. How would his character of Yinye feel after getting 'pampered' when she wore mens clothes before? More than likely... “I feel much more prideful, though not as comfortable. I'll try to give dressing properly more of a chance.” Yes. If his character was the sort that caused his family dress with how she dressed, than she would be unlikely to be the type to swear off mens clothing, right? Even if her sister had her pampered. Almas clothing was a completely different style from his own, but that hadn't caused Cobborn any distress. Honestly he was pretty sure most women preferred to not wear the same things. Both outfits looked lavish and elegant in their own right, though Almas hair definitely looked much more intricate. The whispered weren't hadn't been too expected, but they did make sense. Before the mission had started, the azure deer member had been a ball of anxiety and worry. He was the character Yinye now though, everything would be fine. “I will be alright.” Was the quiet whispering response given to their partner for the mission. The man made sure the sound was silent enough to keep these words between the two of them.
