[attr="class","textie"]He truly had no clue what was going on with the others, he was to far from the house to hear Hino warn that they were civilians, and even then he had no clue if his was a person, or a true threat. Though he did snap to attention as the beast in front of him reared back, and ran through the earth. Quiet literally it was running through the earth almost as if it was partially sinking into it as it charged him. He clenched his jaw as he thought hard about how he could end this without killing the creature. His original plan had been to bind it with his chains, and drag it over to the house, but he had already wounded it once, and he didn't know how much more it could take. Another 'tch' noise left his lips as his grimoire flared to life, and the heat he exuded naturally coalesced around him.
"Lava Creation Magic: Armor of Abraxas!" with the incantation spoken, the spell sprung to life around him. Golden lava clung to his body, and formed itself into a suit of armor that looked draconic in nature. From the sabatons, up to the helm that adorned his face obscuring it from the view of his enemies. The creature that he had been fighting stopped almost in it's tracks as the heat exuded from this form swirled around it, and seemed to weigh it down. Vulkan began to walk towards the house, each step leaving a burning molten footprint in the ground as he did so.
He felt bad for having to resort to this, and he knew the range of this spell would affect his allies as well, but that meant that all of their enemies would be caught in this as well, making sure that everyone expect for him would almost be frozen, or at least heavily slowed down. This armor wasn't something that he enjoyed showing off, but it was better than the alternative, making his way around the house watching as the Grand Mana Beast he had been fighting narrowed it's eyes as it slowly began to make it's way to him. Along the way he found Gen who appeared to have been on her way to see him. Tilting his armored head to her even though his face was hidden he spoke to her.
"My apologies for having to resort to this, my original plan ran into a snag...I unfortunately can't wield my magic with finesse which is why I went away from the group to begin with...But alas..." he sighed, and he saw the creature nearby that was fully weighed down by his spell. It was to weak to resist him so that at least was a plus. He could hear the foot steps of his own opponent coming behind him, so he simply scooped Gen up into his arms, and began to walk with her back to the rest of the group. Both of his lances had disappeared as he didn't need them Slowly he was luring his creature to them so that perhaps Hinota with her clear vision could tell him if he was facing a monster or not.
The rest of the group would slowly be engulfed in the heat aura that he exuded sapping their speed as well, though it wasn't anything he could help. If they chose to remain within the area of effect of his armor they would each get a brand on the back of one of their legs in the shape of an Ouroboros. If they did leave the area it would disappear, and they would be able to move normally, but as long as they were within the influence of his armor movement was not going to be easy for them. Another sigh left his lips as he held Gen close to him as if protecting her, though she didn't need it. Part of it was just that he felt guilty for having to resort to this.
"My apologies for the inconvenience, it was necessary just to be safe, once we figure out if my creature is real or not...You will all be able to move normally again." he stated, and then he took in the surrounding area. It looked as if they hadn't had it any easier than him, though he saw many things at once that confused. The boy Valo was his name he thought was glowering at the white haired Valentine for some reason.
They had casualties it appeared, as there were unmoving bodies nearby laying down, and there was the dark haired mage, Hans was his name. Holding a child, and it seemed that he was trying to heal it. Vulkan didn't know what quite was going on, and now he was thankful that his ability was active slowing everyone, and everything down so that if needed he could react quickly, and make sure no one did anything dumb. Though he was sure Jett would have stepped in before things got serious.
"What is going on?" he asked the question in his normal emotionless tone, and waited expectantly for an answer even though they wouldn't see his face. "Better yet...Explain it to me after we deal with the creature coming after me...I need to know if it's a beast, or a sheep." he stated to them all as the footsteps approached.
Battle Breakdown: Vulkan realized that in order to capture this thing he might kill it by accident so instead he opted to use his fancy armor which saps the speed of everyone in it. With that he met up with Gen as he slowly is leading the beast to the rest of the group. After apologizing he noticed the atmosphere, nd is confused as to why Valo is angry at Valentine. Everyone who stays within his aura which is an 80 meter diameter circle with Vulkan in the center, and it moves with him, suffers a -20 m/s speed penalty. (Also Gen if you're not okay with Vulkan picking her up let me know, and I can edit my post.)
Name of Spell: Lava Creation Magic: Armor of Abraxas Elemental Type: Lava Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Defense Creation | Hex, and Curse Range & Speed: Self | 75 m/s | 80 meter AoE Mana Cost: 50 | 25 Stats Effected: -20 m/s (enemy), +12 Durability (self) Applicable Perks: Sinister Magic Description: The strongest spell in his "Armor" series of spells at the moment. Donning a more advanced, and heavy looking version of his Volcanic Knight Armor. It has more draconic features than the previous version, and offers far more protection. The armor is made of hardened lava, that still seems like it is liquid in nature. Glowing gold, and red as he wears it, and leaving molten creases in the ground as he walks. When this armor is donned, it creates an area around Vulkan that is 80 meters in diameter, where the heat is far more intense than normal. While this seems to do no damage to anyone it does have an effect that would be most noticeable. The moment someone steps inside this area to get close they immediately get the Ouroboros brand on the back of their calf that denotes being cursed by his magic. While this brand is on them their speed would be drastically reduced making them easier targets for all of his other spells. The armor itself has an Archmage health pool.
[attr="class","jettcomscroll"] Chaos surrounded the entire battlefield needlessly, mainly due to one of their own having his untimely breakdown but Jett had been convinced his course of action was correct given Hinota’s instructions. While his spell might have scared the civilians somewhat as it restrained their movements, it wouldn’t harm them physically. However, they weren’t all civilians, the Golden Dawn mage calling out to Jett to inform him the closest beast to him was the real deal. Without any more thought, Jett grimoire shone brightly as it flipped through its pages, his mana growing to what one would come to expect of one at his level ”Diamond Magic: Diamond Dust!” The strongest version of his signature spell poured out from his pages in a flash encompassing the beast completely, the shard of the precious stone effortless ripping through the creatures flesh, slight doubt crept into Jett heart as this attack finished, had Hinota been wrong but without trust, there was no hope. [break][break] Jett remained in front of the house watching on upon the group, his binding spell still in effect to make their job easier but he couldn’t help wonder if the only real beast was the one he’d just taken care of. It was only when he noticed the crimson haired girl fade into the darkness that he realised that Vulkan had most likely been confronted with another real beast. He wished to go help the both of them but knew without a way of seeing through the illusion, he would just be gambling with the lives of citizens. The girl had seen how Hinota was able to tell who was an illusion or not, the Captain would have to trust that she would bring Vulkan back to ensure the safety of a potential innocent. Through the darkness, and thanks to the lamp, Jett was able to see Hans doing his best to heal what looked like a small child with some sort of healing spell, desperation clearly written all over his face even in the midst of darkness. ”Keep them safe, we won’t let them fall here!” Jett would call to his companion, a small diamond flying across the street, floating about the child before a rainbow light would shine from the diamond, slowly healing the child alongside the already active spell. ”Diamond Magic: Diamond Light!” Jett would call out softly.

The silver-haired male was at a disadvantage compared to the others within the group as he had broken a cardinal rule of not going off by yourself in a warlike situation. The 'mana beast' he was facing was too far from the house so he had no idea what he was up against, he was unable to hear what his junior had said about the ones the others had been dealing with due to being so far away from them. In a way, it made complete sense given his element but in such a place as Kikka at the current moment breaking from the pack could be very risky even to someone of his rank and experience. The enemy had already been hit once and so hitting it again could be fatal but again it was also a risk to deal with the issue so far from the house, there was no way to give him information one way or another. The enemy nevertheless charged towards the lava mage almost looking as if it had melded into the ground beneath it but that hadn't been the case, it was acting more like a mole than anything else and just digging tunnels to where it needed to be but then that could also cause issues for the group in honesty if not taken care of. This would seem like it wouldn't be an issue as soon a lava lance went through the earth like a hot knife through butter and struck the enemy, the lava mage might have been wondering what kind of people the daemons were after attacking the home of their chosen but what he nor anyone knew was that they had reacted to Nanami's fear and so came to protect her.
With resolve and reason renewed for why he was there, he had decided the first thing he had to do was take care of the one that could pose an immediate threat. His lantern lit up his natural area of effect in a red-orange light allowing him to see perfectly, to prevent being harmed a second time it relinquished the grip on the lava mage and moved a little to make sure it wouldn't be in any immediate damage from the lances before jumping out of the ground behind him releasing a roar, before long it lunged forward curling itself in a ball starting to move quicker as if being pushed by some unseen force to harm the lava mage. The mage knew he couldn't dodge it so started to walk backwards away from the house but got hit nonetheless though thanks to the defensive spell the diamond mage had placed on the group it had taken the brunt of the hit leaving the man winded at most. The attacks wouldn't do much, thanks to the defensive spell and hiding he could easily deal with thanks to his Ki training the issue he was going to have was with the defences that the enemy itself had.
While Vulkan was dealing with his own issue it would seem as if the main group were having issues of their own as the male shadow mage had set off a trap but thanks to the shield hidden within the lantern he had defended against it, however, he had also managed to topple off the roof but was luckily caught by the dark mage before he hit the ground. As he was caught a shattering could be heard below as his lantern wasn't as lucky within the rescue and had broken on the ground and the light around them once again dulled due to it, though he seemed to pay it no mind as he seemed to be plagued by his own mind and dispair. He was confused and with no outside sources being seen or felt by the others they would be completely at a loss of what was going on, all they would and could see was the white-haired Valentine being in distress for some unknown reason. He had uttered a question within a whisper but no one would be close enough to hear it and if they were it would seem more like he was talking to the darkness around them, soon a new dome of shadow would encase the group as he put his hands over his ears telling everyone to shut up over and over again as he seemed to spiral into his own insanity.
The dark mage seemed to be having some issues of his own as he hesitated with the situation at hand even on some level wishing that he was like his former self as who he was now was more of a burden for such a situation, soon enough however he would be reassured by the white-haired fire mage which seemed to help him find the confidence he needed to move forward in this unknown and uncertain time. It was only with resolve for their actions would they be able to protect one another, the town and defeat the enemy without causing harm to those they were trying to keep safe and he knew it. Of course, there were still doubts but it would seem as if the mercenary was able to quench them at least for now so that he could deal with the task at hand. He had taken note that Genesis and Vulkan had moved off in one direction but had taken note that Gen mentioned just how many enemies they had incoming. He had also noted out of the entire group that one had remained within the house, but also remembered that she had stated that she was a pacifist so he realised that it made sense for her to remain out of the fighting. As he heard the doll-like mages request it took him a few seconds for him to realise that when they had been told they had perfect vision inside the house it meant even through illusions.
He gave a nod and got about doing what was requested by the golden dawn mage but after saving Valentine from falling from the roof thanks to his won reckless and insanity filled actions. Due to the lack of sight, Hans couldn't see the mana beast coming his way and was only alerted to its presence thanks to the screeching, but it was too little too late as it had tackled him making the darkness mage fall to the ground after losing his grip on Valentine meaning he too was now on the ground. Luckily between his armour and the spell that Jett had cast he was dealt no damage whatsoever and was back on his feet immediately after the unwanted encounter, but, he was also faced with that same menacing mana beast, it was clear to see that this thing was towering over him and was out for blood... his blood. Hans had gotten distracted by looking over to valentine and it was now going to cost him before he knew it the beast was behind him with a sharp-clawed hand around his neck ready to strangle him or break his neck. He knew he had to break free and so began to struggle against his assailant's grip, it was when the beast made a fatal flaw by lowering its head that Hans bashed the back of his helmeted head into the beasts face allowing him to break free just as it almost pulled him into the shadows. Now all that was left was to get the thing back to the house but then he saw the dome and the shadow mage having a breakdown in the middle of the darkened street.
Even though he knew he should be dealing with the mana beast situation he moved towards Valentine in the hopes to settle the man at least a little as it would seem like the shadows were doing a number on him. The issue was he had no idea how to handle such a situation but he was still going to try to do his best as right now where it didn't seem like he was being affected by whatever the dome was doing he could still be a threat to others.
The red-headed assassin called upon her elegant yet deadly golems with the use of her bracelet even moving to ride one of them but soon she noticed the higher she got the harder it was to see even with the use of the lantern. It was clear that the rules of the game had been changed and just like the former time she and a few of the others had been there previously they still didn't know the rules to the game they were playing. She had seemed to have forgotten like the darkness mage that while in the house they could see perfectly to the outside but what hadn't been clearly asked and so translated to them was that they would see through the illusions after all these daemons played the long game and that meant even if they were defeated they wanted to tarnish the reputations of the magic knights and anyone who would help them along the way. With her request spoken to the doll-like mage who had remained in the house, she went around her own task to get them to the house without doing to much damage to what potentially could be innocent civilians, she had started to call back her second golem allowing the mana beast to follow it, it was then that she too noticed the dome of shadow that Valentine had created enveloping the group. Through her distraction, the second golem had taken a hit and had almost hit her from its back. It had taken a second but the dragon managed to right itself while the second pinned it but to free itself by scratching its underbelly making it writhe in pain thus allowing it to free itself once more.
Where the golems may not have been flesh and blood they were still hers and she cared for them a great deal and she refused to sit by idly while they were harmed. She moved onto the back of the less injured of the two golems, not knowing what the snake-like mana beast was capable of she flew forward but twisted at the last second allowing her to land on its back if not a little bit awkwardly. The reptilian mana beast expanded the hood it had on its head causing the shadow mage to lose her grip around its neck but quickly thinking she wrapped her legs around it before hitting its head twice trying to knock it out which done nothing more than seemed to piss the thing off and so with a swipe of its tail it knocked her clean off and through the air two meters almost hitting a wall if one of her golems hadn't caught her. She quickly regained control luring it towards the house calling out a single word question hoping for a quick answer.
The green mantis mage at the moment could really only see red but he was trying to calm himself as to not to make needless mistakes, there was a time and place for his anger he knew it but now wasn't it. He knew a full out assault would have been easy but given the outcome of his last interactions in the shadowed town he knew that it could end up with devastating consequences and that was something he would never allow himself or others to do for again. He knew that the plan he had wasn't the most ideal but it was the best he had until he could figure out friend from foe. As he positioned his golems he too was affected by the diamond mages defensive spell and found himself thankful that someone could cover his weaknesses. Standing by the darkness mage he braced himself for whatever was to come their way. He saw the swords of darkness around his companion and realised he had become stronger before seeing a shadow crow construct landing on a roof nearby and setting off something that wasn't needed, a trap of all things before he could even say a word the mercenary dashed forward to prevent one of their group hitting the ground in a less than favourable way. It was then he too heard the doll mages words to bring them closer to the house as they could see perfect inside it.
It was almost as if he had an epiphany at that moment though he had been told as much twice, once when he had been there originally and once quite recently. He saw that Hans was having a bit of an issue with one of the mana beasts but managed to break through it though sent his golems to shield the dark and shadow mage while wondering what the hell was wrong with Valentine more so as he noticed the area getting darker as the dome that was being created by Valentine and his mental break down. He yelled for the mercenary to come back to the house and bring Valentine with him.
It wasn't until the diamond mage himself called out to the group would they know the origins of the traps and why they were there, it was drawing quite a bit of magic from Charlotte to keep them sustained but she was doing it for the safety of those around her as though not formally a magic knight anymore the sense of duty never left her. It would seem as if the captain realised that this group had no co-ordination and were doing exactly what they wanted right down to the selfish actions of the male golden dawn member but he realised that it was likely better that way but it didn't mean he needed to like it any more than he did. The purple-haired captain reiterated the white-haired males request that Hans bring Valentine towards the house which the mercenary had already been doing. As to help the group within his care he couldn't remain still and so had cast another spell. This one created chains of diamond beneath the mana beasts slowing them to the point that they may as well be standing still. This, of course, didn't prevent them from thrashing and fighting against their restraints but still, their movements were to hindered to more than a step or two at current.
The doll-like mage was far from happy that her senior had run off unbeknown to her that she shared the same sentiment as the captain on his actions. They were supposed to be the cream of the crop, the prodigies of the kingdom and they seemed to be acting like careless fools. This didn't sit well with her, still, she remembered the mansion with the hat and how wild her seniors magic could be it made sense in a way. She had remained within the house remembering the information that had been given to them and had called out which enemies were indeed civilians and which were foes it turned out when she had heard the explosion she took a single step past the threshold but seeing the situation well in hand she stepped back out but gave the male shadow mage a piece of her mind. True, she was raised passive and submissive but she was also wouldn't hold back on fools who endangered not only her life but the lives of everyone within the city. A splash followed by a small familiar voice yelling out was heard, she looked to her side and seen the crying child doing what was within her nature she did her best to comfort her the strangest thing was that the mana beasts almost became frenzied at her crying and some almost managed to break through the chains that bound them, it was an odd turn of events, to say the least.
From her current position she could see nine of the ten mana beasts and had informed Jett and the others the one closest to the captain was the real deal but the other eight were civilians. She then gave some basic things she could tell about their ages her eyes has always returned to the mana beast given how it made her feel and notified the others it didn't feel right but had no idea what was wrong with it. Hoping that the boot to the head would snap him out of whatever mental breakdown he was having in the hopes to aid them with that, she had no idea why she thought he could help with it but she was kind of hoping she guessed that someone in the group would have good sensory or some understanding of shadow based mana beasts.
The female shadow mage was both right and wrong in her assumption on how the daemons were taking the chaos and how it was affecting the group as a whole. Sven was having a wonderful time mentally destroying people while the twins didn't seem to be enjoying it all that much, they were there because it was their duty and nothing more. Not to say they completely went against their natures but at the same time, they were more for going after one target that took their eye than going after an entire city, to them it drew too much attention that would end up in failure, still, they were obedient knowing that denying their master his wishes wouldn't end well for them. The pair watched from their current locations to what was happening in the street near their locations, it would turn out that they had found out that most of the 'mana beasts' were merely civilians thanks to the person that had decided to remain inside the house in the hopes to aid them in the only way they could given their beliefs on fighting. This was all that the redhead needed to hear before going on the offensive but was careful that when she did have her golem pounce it didn't cause death or any terrible damage before knocking the person out. It wasn't long after the civilian had been knocked out that the illusion on them dropped suddenly, every civilian could be seen for what they were. The redhead had collapsed against her dragon for a moment before getting up and attempting to drag the unconscious person to the house.
As she was a second mana beast attacked the mage along the way this one looked like a boar, its tusk was aiming at her face she barely managed it but it had been impaled a bit for the trouble but like before she knocked it out with some ease to see that this one was a teenager, now was the issue she had two unconscious bodies around her to get to the house. It was clear that the battle was starting to take its toll on the assassin as she was hurt and now breathing heavily having to drag the dead weight 'We never wanted this. They are beneath our strength and so not worth our time, I wonder if you have learned your lesson from the last time you were here, however, I guess I will see when we meet once again.' The woman would hear whispered by a familiar voice as if it was right behind her but as quickly as the stoic voice had come it was gone again. This, of course, happened was as she was dragging the unconscious men to the house and on her way to see what the lava mage was doing as she could tell he had immense power but not knowing whether or not if he could see what he was fighting was troubling her mind.
The white-haired civilian's breakdown wasn't getting any better as time went on if anything it was getting worse as he pleaded for the world around him to be quiet soon enough he called on a weapon as the dark mage approached saying something only to tell him to shut up yet again as he seemingly had the urge to attack but it seemed as if something stopped him from doing so, from the outside world it would seem as nothing was supposed to happen and yet the white-haired shadow mage was perplexed about what had just happened. Soon he was looking around like a rabid animal in fear within the darkness but now he felt the hit of the water boot that seemingly snapped him out of whatever was going on as he was almost knocked off balance. It would seem like something made the man laugh but he admitted Nanami was right in her words in regards to him as she was coddled by the magic knight who had remained within the house as if trying to soothe her. It was then the regarded the darkness mage telling him he saw something and it caused his actions though through those actions others had been hurt. It would seem that no one had noticed that not one building had been damaged thanks to a defensive wall spell cast by their current hostess, the same couldn't be said for the civilians that had been out in the street, however, they were either hurt badly and in some cases not breathing.
He notified the group that he was actually there to find someone though it would seem as if it wasn't to be, he let them know he was in a rational state of mind but that could possibly change. 'Well, it seems like they brought their own danger this time.' Lilitu commented as she observed 'If they were wise they would send the loose cannon home, he is a threat to their survival let alone the success of this task of theirs.' Ito stated in return 'Yes, but they will not.' she replied making the male sigh quietly 'It will be their heads on pikes at the end of the day and so deserve no sympathy.' he retorted truly hoping that they either found a way to stabilize him or send him away for the good of everyone concerned. They watched silently as he continued on his pity party, Lilitu herself wanted to appear and slap him upside his head telling him to shut up that there are people who have it far worse than he that have done far worse than he. It was one of the reasons the twins hated mortals they believed that their own pain and suffering was worse than those around them not realising where their pain might be bad there was always someone who had it worse and as bad of an action they may have done there was always a way to atone for it. There was no such way for those like them, they had to lump and like the lives they had.
During the time that the white-haired shadow mage had called on a weapon, the mercenary had done the same fearing that he would be attacked by the delusional man beside him luckily nothing came of it as he had been snapped out of it thanks to Nanami's water boot. He was still unsure about how to handle the seemingly unstable shadow mage but listened intently even trying to bring the other some form of comfort in the fact everyone was the same regardless of how good they tried to appear. He even stated that the man was fine saying that the group but then corrected to say that he would help the person he was trying to find unaware that she was in the town already but within the other group. It was at that moment he had heard Hinota's call telling the group that most of the people within the area were civilians, he turned instantly to see the beast that he was fighting laying on the ground, its illusion dropping revealing a ten-year-old child having being hurt by 'Valentines' spell. The mercenary gritted his teeth and rushed over to them to see if he could help them dropping to his knees now seeing just how young the person had been. He tried to plead with the youth to stay with him before beseeching the power within the relic he gained from his last trip to this hellhole. Problem was he still wasn't sure how to make it work properly and so it appeared like the relic would work on its own whims more so as he seemingly cursed it for not going over the child but it appeared as if a second dome appeared over the still child nonetheless. The universe within the dome covered the pair where he pleaded to the universe for the healing to work but the child wasn't breathing, the damage had been too much for its young sickly body.
While this was going on the doll-like mage remained where she was lulling Nanami to sleep, the last thing she believed such a young girl needed to see was more pain and misery than she already had it would seem. Unknown to the group she was dealing with her own issues but she was able to keep them in check so they would go unnoticed. it was a sad but true state of affairs that civilians got hurt all the time during such times but she was right they were there to help not be the cause of more suffering. It would be quite clear that something wasn't quite right and before long she let the other know what could be the reason they've been weakened by their current living conditions. Her words had been soft as she didn't want to wake Nanami so it was uncertain if others heard her words.
Shortly after that, it would seem that Charlotte would take matters into her own hands she was surrounded by white flames as she spoke something, the flames took on the form of phoenixes which perched on the dead and injured starting to revive and heal them. It was clear that this spell was taking its toll on her but she knew it was her duty to protect her home and those living within it when she could regardless of how they treated her or her daughter. It was then she done something very few other than perhaps Valo and Jett would expect from her, she knelt next to the white-haired shadow mage and started to soothe him much like a loving mother would a distressed child after embracing him. No one knew why he had the reaction he did but it didn't seem to matter to her he was in pain and she wanted to ease it. She gave him words of encouragement and understanding something she deemed he had never had before given his reactions since before the trap activation had happened. She tried to guide him the best she could and reassure him that he wasn't the only one that felt the way he did currently and even offered to be a person he could come to if he ever felt like things were becoming too much for him but in the end, just like she could guide a horse to water but was unable to make it drink, she could give him guidance but couldn't force him to listen to her.
It seemed as if the fire mage got the message at the same time as the others and that was all he needed to hear before he moved to into action. It seemed like he understood that she couldn't help in the more physical things but she was able to make it up in other aspects that could help the team a great deal which he and some of the others seemed to appreciate. There was so much going on but still, the fire mage seemed to keep a level head and not be distracted from what he was needing to do. He aimed to knock out the people Jett had restrained leaving embers behind him. That was until he saw what had happened and how it had affected everyone in the area. It was too much for the passionate fire mage and he blew like a volcano towards the male shadow mage. As much as he had tried to keep his cool the longer he was in his home town he found more and more reasons to become angry. It was clear at that moment the fire mage wanted the shadow mage gone, he couldn't care less about any traumas or distress that the man might be going through as he was a danger to everyone including the innocents they were there to save. He stopped when he had seen the boot hit and where he didn't have faith in the white-haired shadow mage it would seem as if the young girl naively did.
It would turn out that the green mantis mage had had enough he needed to get his frustrations out somehow and turned his attention to the only beast that seemed to not be affected by an illusion. Thanks to the information he had been given he knew he had no need to hold back and so unleashed everything upon the mana beast. After the swift battle was dealt with he put his full attention on Valentine stating that he needed to leave. Everyone knew now that he was a ticking time bomb that was only there for his own selfish wants and desires, he didn't care for the people of Kikka or their plight but at the end of the day, such a decision would either have to come from the group as a whole or Jett could overrule which might end up coming back to bite him, it was a delicate situation. 'That wasn't a princely thing to do; he wasn't really a threat... none of them was, they were reacting to her fear.' he would hear whispered into his ear, that same wispy, dreamy voice he would have heard upon his last visit to the purple orca's headquarters. He was the only one who would have heard it and but even if he wasn't he would be the only one who would have recognised it and been able to match it to its owner 'He is... I mean was a guardian... a strong knight once.' her voice sounded saddened at his passing a vibrant red chrysanthemum appearing on his chest after he fell 'Please do me a small courtesy and allow him to be buried with the honours a knight should be.' It would almost sound as if she was truly in mourning for the mana beast. It was true that he had been one of the only two ever to come in contact with both twins but unlike Sven, they would still be enigmatic and just by their behaviours could be often considered as much friends as enemies depending on the situation but never once had either of the two attacked in malice it was always as if they were holding back.
Even the purple orca captain had noticed the chaos from the mana beasts to the group itself, it was something that had to be taken care of and as Valo had finished taking out the anger of on the mana beast it would seem like the captain would get the final blow giving it, its eternal rest. Between the aid of Hans, Charlotte and Jett those injured would start to heal quickly the three dead children however remained still, it took a lot to revive and even more time to be brought back by death "They will be fine captain, just a little longer and they will wake please don't waste your strength." she called over to the purple-haired mage smiling, she was paler than she had been so he would know that she had sacrificed some of her own life for theirs, she had moved to a bench gracefully to sit down all be it on uneasy legs.
He had managed to lure the beast out thanks to the injury and soon he himself was engulfed in what like golden dragonic armour, it of course was made of lava but you would need to get close enough to see it but with the heat, it gave off that would be more than a little difficult. The mana beast had been affected by the intense heatwave that had been coming off the armour and though it was trying to move forward it was doing so at a slow rate. Soon he saw the red headed mage as he started to walk towards the house just scooping her up along the way apologising for the effects that she and the others would be feeling when they got to the house shortly afterwards. He seemed confused about what was going on and even asked for an update before asking whether it was really a beast or a civilian following him. The answer came from his junior, it was a civilian but she would allow the others to fill in the blanks on what had happened in his absence.
Story:
Out of the ten mana beasts only one turned out to be real and was quickly take care of by Valo and Jett. It would seem not everything is as it seems with the one being called Valentine as he has now shown just how unstable he is and let everyone know he doesn't really care about Kikka, he's only here because he wants to find a certain person. In the aftermath of his break down six civilians were harmed and three killed but they are slowly being healed and resurrected thanks to the help of Charlotte, Jett and Hans but the quick expulsion of Valentine has been requested by one of the group due to his actions and unstable nature. Genesis had a brief connection to Ito as Valo had one with Lilitu though hers came with a request of the man. The twins also had a quick conversation of their own on what they thought of the group at current and they honestly aren't really impressed with the loose cannon.
It wasn’t fair. It never was. As he knelt to the ground, he knew that his efforts would only ever prove useless. He wouldn’t find her, not here, because fate would not allow it. And then he’d responded in such an immature way, that it took a child to tell him that was he’d done was wrong. Water trickled down his neck, making strands of silver hair stick to his skin. The dark earth beneath him was all he could see, feeling the rough pebbles brush against his knees. [break][break] He almost couldn’t hear the screams and shouts of battle. He knew some of it was directed at him. Knowing that the questioning was aimed toward his actions, he had no excuse to give. [break][break] He witnessed Hans take the child’s body in his arms. The dark-haired mage was desperate to revive it. But Vaile knew, it was lifeless corpse, not a child. That death, that death had been caused by him. It was just as he had said, in a moment of seeing something irrational, he’d committed an act of insanity. [break][break] He had made a mistake, he needed to own up to it. He wouldn’t run, that wasn’t right either. But truth be told, he was all too unsure of what he was supposed to do. [break][break] Of course, he saw her coming, that former Knight whose sob story hadn’t moved him. Of course, he was expecting her to say something to him, wreck him with words that he rightly deserved. But instead, it was a hug and that confused him the most. [break][break] When that mother took him in his arms, when she decided that such physical comfort was what he needed, he couldn’t deny her. He didn’t move to accept her either. His body was too stiff to be called appreciative of the embrace. Instead, he found himself trembling, his breathing unsteady, his confidence more shaken than it ever had been before. [break][break] Her skin felt too soft and her hands were too gentle. They weren’t sympathetic actions he was accustomed to. Eyes went wide, shock was the only emotion he could register. Why? Why? The word resonated inside his mind. [break][break] And then Vaile remembered, of course, he’d had a mother. His mother had loved him, his mother had hugged him, his mother had once held his hand as he’d fallen asleep. He could almost see her again, hear her calling him her little Valentine. Those memories had been buried deep because that same mother had left him. She’d given him away when she thought she lost him. [break][break] “I’m sorry.” He said. “I’m… sorry,” he repeated again. [break][break] He was crying without tears, his voice barely above a whisper. Perhaps the drops of water that fell from his head and trailed down his cheeks served as a bitter substitute. Such an empty apology didn’t appear to carry any weight, not when his actions had been so unforgivable. [break][break] When he lifted his head, he saw a ghost. It was the ghost he always saw when he was at his worst. That was when she always had to appear, to mock him for everything that’d he done ever since she had left him. She appeared to him now as if she was in her prime, that of a Knight who believed in justice brought down upon the wicked. The wicked like him. [break][break] “I’m sorry but… I… ” he started, and then he stopped. He could see how the situation was playing out now. This was what good people did when they saw others make mistakes, even ones as terrible as his. “I can’t make up for what I’ve done.” [break][break] “You shouldn’t have sympathy for me, I’m not someone who deserves those feelings.” He added, somehow more assured of those words than any before them. He had to pull away from her and so he did. When she offered her hand to help him up, he didn’t take it. [break][break] He couldn’t blame her, maybe it was how all mothers were. Sympathy wouldn’t change what he was or what he had done, consequences would have to eventually come later. The world was black and white because that was the easiest way to see it. For his act of insanity, there was no other way to view it except for the atrocious action that it was. [break][break] She was stating it would be fine, she was saying words as if everything would be okay. He tried to listen, yet his mind was somewhere else. [break][break] As her head lowered, he held still. And then, he felt her lips kiss his forehead. Like a mother doting a child who had scraped a knee. How could he describe it? The nauseous, empty feeling that sunk to his stomach and weight him down. This wasn’t some trivial injury, this wasn’t something that could be forgiven. [break][break] It was just as he had said. He didn’t deserve it. And yet she still… [break][break] It took another moment of getting to his feet, of watching her turn away, for him to realize why. He stood still, out of the corner of his eye, he watched his sister’s ghost taunt him. He realized that he hated her. Perhaps not this Charlotte specifically, no, it was the idea of people like her. People who thought that sympathy was enough, who thought that life could be black, white, and grey. There were people who still believed that love could reach even the blackest of hearts. There were people out there like his sister, and that was what he hated the most. He could never be like her. [break][break] Only people who knew love could believe in it. Vaile was not among them. He’d been told so from a very young age, it was not his place to be loved or to know of it. It was why he was taken away, because the secondborn child that he was could only be used as a tool for another purpose. When he made mistakes, when he didn’t meet the expectations of his fragile usefulness, he had no other role to fill. [break][break] There was another presence that filled his mind. It was an enigma of shadow that he would never deny. Cold, uncaring eyes of ice-blue drilled into him. His father would never approve of such fallacy. [break][break] And so, he was left with hating himself. [break][break]
Somehow, the clarity of it all gave him a kind of peace and he was able to take a deep breath. Perhaps that was what he needed. He turned to the others, directly to the one he had heard saying that he should leave one of the Knights among them, a Green Mantis. [break][break] “I’m not leaving here.” He said directly. “As I said before, I acted irrationally because I was in an irrational state of mind.” He didn’t expect the boy to understand. [break][break] “But I repeat again, and you are right to think, that my duty here is not to these people, to the Knights, or to anyone else.” It was almost as if he could feel the mother’s eyes stray to him, whether disappointed or callous he did not know. But perhaps she wasn’t looking to him at all, and that could have hurt even worse. [break][break] “I am here to search for someone and I must at least know, if she’s… alive.” Resolve was not the word that he would have wanted to use, desperation was better, but the even calm that took over his voice was an eerie companion to his cold demeanor. [break][break] He paused, feeling the warmth of phoenix’s light conjured from the former Purple Orca’s magic. So that was it, a quiet bitterness overshadowed him. She could heal them, even bring them back, but his actions had still been reckless. It was in fact, the combined efforts of the Purple Orca Captain and Hans himself that would heal the children and others lost in his actions. [break][break] “If you wish to expel me or arrest me I would understand and I would not fight it.” He said, turning perhaps to the Captain in their presence. “I can only request that if any of you find the woman I am looking for, you let me know if she is alright.” Maybe they would understand the desperation in his pleas, Hans had already said something along the lines that he would help. [break][break] But a single vote of confidence likely meant nothing to the rest.

Fast Lane:Transportation spells may give an additional 5 meters a second faster than normal. Once they become Grand rank this increases to 10 meters a second.
[break] Description: Vaile creates a pair of raven’s wings extending from the small of his back. From tip to tip the wingspan is 5 meters long, with shadow 'feathers' appearing to constantly wither and fall from them. The wings appear to be made of solid shadow and grant Vaile independent flight ability, also increasing their maneuverability and overall speed. Besides creating wings for himself, he is able to create wings for allies and other targets, however, they must remain within his range. The maximum number of wings Vaile can create is equal to the normal passenger number for a senior transportation spell (5).
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
The purple-haired captain called out to Hans, telling him to keep that child safe...but Hans did not hear him. His mind was foggy, focused only on his desperate attempt at healing this poor soul...but his relic wasn't up for this level of healing. From his knees, Hans quickly looked up as he noticed a diamond hovering over the kid. It radiated a light down onto the lifeless body. Sensing the mana from this spell, Hans immediately looked back at Jett and as he did this, the healing dome Hans had over himself and the child faded, the merc not sure if the captain's healing spell would be able to get through if it was still up. The dark mage barely had a grasp on the abilities of healing, especially with the use of that necklace...A bitter irony considering that his late mother use to have a healing necklace of her own. It was clear that Whatever healing spells Jett has, it would prove to be better than anything Hans could do, so all the merc did was scoop the lifeless child into his arms, and looked down at him, a desperate pleading face hidden underneath his darkened armor.
"Please...open your eyes..." he whispered at the child, despite all evidence pointing to him no longer being alive.
Hans shook lightly once again. This is what he feared would happen again...yet he dared to have even the slimmest of hope just because of that fire mage...but it still happened. Innocents were hurt....children...
The merc was on the verge of losing hope again...until white feathers covered in a fiery aura rushed by him. Before the dark mage...was a phoenix, a white one. It gave off that same healing warmth as Jett's...but it was far stronger, and not from him. Again, Hans' attention went to the source of such powerful and holy mana...As he did, the armored dark mage had just now noticed the other downed bodies and the phoenixes that lingered around them. Soon his eyes would set on that woman again...Charlotte he believed her name was. She was now making her way to Valentine, but as she did Hans took notice of how weaker she appeared. Such a powerful healing spell...of course it would come with a cost.
Feeling a bit of movement coming from his arms, Hans quickly brought his attention back to the child he was holding. His injuries were gone, and he stirred a bit in the merc's arms before settling down, his eyes still closed but his mouth moved a bit as if he were trying to mutter something then went motionless...falling asleep thankfully. A heavy sigh of relief escaped Hans' lips.
Then another spell had encompassed the area...bringing an almost unbearable heat. Hans gritted his teeth and held onto the child tight, unaware of the branding that was now on the back of his armored leg. "Another attack?" Hans muttered. No, this one had a mana signature he could read...and it was coming from one of their own yet again. Hans turned to where that lava mage was, taking notice of Genesis in his arms. Did something happen to her? Hans couldn't focus much on that after noticing how slow he was moving when he attempted to walk in this harsh spell. "Tch...what is he doing...?" Hans muttered with a hint of annoyance. One wide-ranged spell being set off was bad enough...but now another!? This one seemingly did no harm...but it still made the dark mage uneasy. Hans then noticed the "beast" slowly moving behind the lava mage. The guy then apologized about his spell, telling the group what its purpose was. Still, Hans didn't like it. A more, controlled and single targeted spell would've been better, but he wasn't the type to complain. If he's using a spell like this then it must mean he doesn't have anything more controlled...which Hans found a bit odd considering this man's strength and status.
The shadow wings on the merc's back flapped a bit, reminding the merc that he still had them. Wondering a little, Hans floated a few inches off the ground again. Valentine's spell was also hindered by this spell, but it still had enough speed in it for Hans to move faster than he normally can.
With that cleared up, Hans turned his attention to a very pissed off mantis. He wanted Valentine gone, that much was very clear...
With the child still in his hand, Hans floated over to Valo. Once he landed beside him, the merc's armor and lingering barrier spells would fade away. He looked over to Valentine once again, but the merc's expression was more neutral than angry. He didn't have time to fully register that all of these injuries and deaths were the shadow mage's doing until now. Hans then looked at the woman responsible for undoing some of what the unstable mage did. "Thank you." Hans said to Charlotte with a small but grateful nod to match. She deserved more than a thanks...but Hans wasn't great with this sort of stuff so that is all he could do. His attention rested on Valentine once again. He clearly didn't give a damn about what Valo has to say, and made it clear again that he was only here to find someone.
The shadow mage appears to be in a rational state of mind now as he claims...but who's to say that this won't happen again?
Hans was starting to lose the little hope he had in this stranger, but then he turned his attention to the purple-haired captain, telling him that he will not resist if he decides to make him leave. But after that came a request....a request for this mystery girl he so desperately wishes to find. Not knowing the relationship between Valentine and this stranger, Hans could only imagine that it was something strong if it's making him come to a place like this. The merc could relate in a way. If a certain someone he cared for was here lost in this daemon ruled town, Hans would've done the same. The dark mage was feeling empathetic...another new trait that Hans has developed....something that his former self would've simply scoffed at.
Hans then walked over to where he left his greatsword and lantern, the former still dug into the ground blade first. Hans shifted the child so he could be holding him in one arm then crouched down to lift the lantern up with that hand, making sure that he still had a good balance of the child in his arm. He then gripped the hilt of his blade with his other hand and lifted the sword from the ground, placing it softly against his shoulder. "What's her name?" Hans finally opened his mouth, a question directed at Valentine. "With what happened, I believe you shouldn't be here as well...We cannot run the risk of this happening again." he claimed before looking over to Valo. "But that isn't our call to make." his attention now on the one in charge, Jett but then it went back to Valentine. "I did say I will help you find her, however...So what is her name? What does she look like? Is there any other information that can be used to track her?" Hans was set to find this person whether Valentine remained or not, and even if the others did not wish to help.
Given what he does, the merc is no stranger to taking jobs...except he had to do this on top of trying to help bring these daemons down...and was not getting paid for it....

"We never wanted this. They are beneath our strength and so not worth our time, I wonder if you have learned your lesson from the last time you were here, however, I guess I will see when we meet once again."
One moment she was dragging an unconscious civilian towards the house, the next she was frozen in her tracks.
That voice.
Her crimson head flew up, eyes widening in shock.
Goosebumps.
“You.” Grey eyes shot up and all around her, scanning her surroundings. Did she really hear that? Her ears were not playing tricks on her, were they? She extended out her sensory, feeling out for a certain mana signature. Nothing...nothing except what she has already sensed. The battle was still going on, her teammates were all here, spells were flying...but nothing to indicate that he was nearby. Was she so tired and worn out that her imagination was taking over her mind? Was she going insane?
The female shook her head fiercely, trying to clear her thoughts and make sense of what had just happened. She should not be surprised. Of course the daemons would be watching them—she just did not expect to hear them whispering in her ear. Especially his voice. It was so disconcerting, she was sorely tempted to shout out his name and demand that he show himself...but she was no longer the quick-tempered redhead that she was just a few months ago. At least, not as quick. Hopefully.
The shadow mage took a deep breath, and let it out. Focus, Gen. She could not sense him around her, at least not within her limited range. He was merely toying with her, letting her know that he was there and was watching her and her group. If that was from a normal human being, she would have shrugged it off like she did with ogling perverts. But knowing the speaker, she would not take his words lightly. Has she learned her lesson? Like he said, they would soon find out.
But first things first. She made her way back to where she assumed the lava mage was, and saw the mana beast. She was about to warn him...only to find herself being scooped up by the tall Golden Dawn man.
"My apologies for having to resort to this, my original plan ran into a snag...I unfortunately can't wield my magic with finesse which is why I went away from the group to begin with...But alas..."
For a few seconds, Gen was frozen...for the second time in the span of two minutes. She was so stunned and caught off guard, she did not struggle or even move. Her mind struggled to process. They were moving. The mana beast was slowly following behind. How?
"My apologies for the inconvenience, it was necessary just to be safe, once we figure out if my creature is real or not...You will all be able to move normally again."
As the initial shock wore off, she saw that she was being carried like a baby back towards the group, and attempted to struggle her way out of his well-meaning action. “Let me down!” She hissed, and her eyes glowed in an almost feral manner. No one touched her without her permission, not even her allies.
Assuming her sudden movements would cause Vulkan to drop her, she would fall. As soon as she hit the ground, the femme rolled away from the knight and jumped to her feet into battle stance, eyes ablazed. “What was that for?” Her tone was dangerously low...until she felt the effects of his spell. She tried moving her feet, and found that her movements had been drastically slowed, and her speed was cut down to almost nothing.
The Ouroboros brand had also appeared on the back of her leg, the result of her coming in contact with his spell. But she was too preoccupied with the man in front of her to see it...and was also slightly embarrassed at the scene she must have made. She bit down on her lower lip. Vulkan had only been trying to keep her from being affected by his spell, but her fiery temper and actions had not helped her in any way. Instead, it had made her look like a fool, and showed just how little she trusted those around her. Looked like she still had work to do. A lot of work.
She relaxed her stance, but only to brush herself off from the fall. She opened her mouth like she wanted to say something to the lava mage, but then snapped it shut. She should be thanking him for his consideration, but could not bring herself to say it. With an indescribable look on her face, she stalked over to where the rest of the group was at.
They were currently surrounded in a flurry of diamonds and...white phoenixes? What? Where had that come from? A quick glance back to the house showed Nanami’s mother in her blaze of power and glory, healing those injured and... Gen squinted. The dark mage had been on his knees next to a child, acting like they were already dead. Eyes wide, she watched in rapt attention as Charlotte used her magic to bring life back into the corpse. A shiver ran up and down her spine. She knew healing magic was powerful, but to see it in action was numbing, especially at this level of skill and power.
All this had seemed to have come from one individual. Now she glanced over at the other shadow mage, who looked like he had gone through hell. Vincent-Valentine. Charlotte had gone over to comfort him, Valo was raging against him, and Gen...well, she did not know what to make of the situation.
She herself had met the other shadow user only once, in the posh town of Silva. Back then, it was for a rather silly and unimportant side job, but she had been intrigued by his shadows. It was her first time meeting someone with the same element as her...though by now, she knew better, that even daemons used shadows as well. In a way, it had made her feel not as alone, but now as she looked on, she had to wonder again if her shadows really were the curse, as indicated by her birthmark scar.
Her mind flickered back to when she was here in Kikka just a couple of months prior. Her hasty action had resulted in mass destruction, leveling a graveyard and hurting who knew how many innocents. If it were not for the daemon’s own hand at shielding her teammates, she would have wiped them all out in that one single mistake. Only she was knocked out from the explosions, as if she was being taught a lesson. It seemed like history was repeating itself, with another shadow mage. Perhaps their magic really was cursed.
She shifted her feet uneasily. She could kind of relate to Vincent-Valentine, coming into the daemons’ domain blind and accidently unleashing mass destruction in a single move. Unfortunately, that was not something she could have warned him about. In that regard, she felt for the poor unfortunate soul.
Then she remembered about the mana beast that was following Vulkan. She whirled back around, though it was to look for the other Golden Dawn knight within the house. “Civilian?” She would ask, if Hinota had not already seen its true form and called out the answer they so desperately needed.
Summary: Gen reacted decently to Ito's voice, reacted poorly to Vulkan's well-meaning action sorry Solo, made a fool of herself because this rper needs comic relief, noticed the healing going on, realized that history was repeating itself, some minor PTSD, felt for her fellow shadow user Vincent-Valentine, remembered about final mana beast and asked Hinota for confirmation if she had not called the answer out already

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo watched Charlottle's white flames go to work in healing the injured and bringing life back to the dead. Healing magic. Something Valo has been trying to learn since the first attack happened in Kikka to no avail. Those innocent children getting hurt back a few months ago, left quite the impression on the fire mage. A hopeless gut wrenching feeling he didn't want to experience again. But healing magic for Valo was extremely difficult. Did he lack the heart or the patience? He didn't know, at least yet. He was going to get it down sooner or later even if he had to force it. But all he could do for now was watch someone else's flame do the healing for now.
While people were collecting their thoughts, Valo took the time to help the innocent life back on their feet. There were healed from their injuries, but making sure they were ok was still important. He would go to the nearest civilian and help them back to their feet. "Are you ok?" he said to one, before heading to the other after making sure they were uninjured. "How bout you?" "Are you doing ok?" "Were going to put an end to this, madness. I promise you." he said to the last one, before noticing his speed was much slower.
His spell was still active allowing him to move much much faster than normal, even his natural speed was faster than the norm. He was by far no Lydia Ravencrest, but for his level his speed was respectable. But it seemed like another Aoe spell had been cast, that slowed everyone in it. With him in it, he was still able to move at a slightly faster than normal pace. "Another area spell." Valo said his voice definitely annoyed. He rolled his eyes and let out a sigh. "What is with these guys using area spells, when surrounded by allies and innocent people." He said aloud but mostly to himself. He looked up and to see who was the one using such a spell, and saw Vulkan the golden dawn mage carrying Genesis in his arms. For a moment Valo's chest sank, seeing the image. But Genesis being the person she was, dropped herself from his arms and reacted just like he knew she would. Angry.
Vulkan explained himself on why he used the spell, Valo guessed it made sense to him though he thought there was better ways to go about it. In Valo's head this Vulkan was another person Valo kept in the back of his mind, not that he didn't trust him. But his methods and usage of spells were odd to him. In addition him carrying Genesis left a bad taste in his mouth. Sure his intentions were pure, but Valo still felt the same way.
It was at this moment Valo would hear a familiar whisper in his ear, that made his eyes pop.
'That wasn't a princely thing to do; he wasn't really a threat... none of them was, they were reacting to her fear.'
That was the voice of Lilitu the daemon he met back at the Purple Orca's headquarters. He twirled his bo staff quickly and got in a fighting stance, believing her to be close. But quickly realized she wasn't around, from what he could tell. His eyes darted around the area, his lantern given to him by Charlotte gave him pretty good sight for everything in a 20 meter radius. Since it seemed like Lilitu wasn't actually there, he took a moment to reflect on her words. The mana beast was not a threat? None of them were apparently, just simply reacting to her fear? The her had to be Nanami's Valo thought, who was still safe in the house.
"How is that possible?" Valo asked allowed his voice full of confusion. Lilitu continued.
'He is... I mean was a guardian... a strong knight once.'
This mana beast was a knight? Valo thought to himself, but how. Hinota from inside the house confirmed that this was a mana beast. These words were leaving Valo more confused and at a lost, he looked back at the body of the mana beast. It didn't change or end it's illusion like the others, in fact out of all of them it was the only one that was actually a true mana beast. So how was it a strong knight once? Maybe she didn't mean Magic Knight specifically, but just a general term of knight. A protecter or sorts. A mana beast that was a knight? Was such a thing possible?
Valo kept looking at the beast, and a red chrysanthemum appeared on his chest. A large flowering red plant it was quite vivid and hard to miss.
'Please do me a small courtesy and allow him to be buried with the honours a knight should be.' The voice of Lilitu continued, referring to the mana beast.
Valo paused for a few moments about how he should continue, his stance and posture normal again. The words of Valentine caught his attention though, he was beginning to explain himself looking directly at Valo. The fire mages own eyes meeting his, considering everything at hand, Valo's mindset on the matter was not going to change. Already to many mistakes have been made simply because of this one guy. To many lives at stake, to take such chances.
As far as Valo considered this Valentine could not be trusted or relied upon, and his actions have literally caused the death of a innocent people. If Charlotte were not here healing them, they would be dead simple as that. Valentine stated he was in an irrational mindset, this bought Valo's mind back to the spirit ball. Where he met Alyssa Liliygate captain of the Blue Roses.
"Becoming flustered, irritated, angry or irrational at the wrong time can cause mistakes and mistakes can cost things that can't always be replaced such as lives." Those were her words, that he remembered and he spoke them word for word. "We cannot afford mistakes or irrational mindsets...not again." he continued his eyes never leaving those of Valentines. He broke his gaze to nod at Hans who looked towards him, and then towards Jett the Captain.
He would probably have the final say. Valentine stated he was not here for Kikka, but for a selfish reason he was looking for someone. And just wanted to know if she was alright. Valo would a take a breath, breathing in air and let it out from his mouth. He looked at Jett for a moment. "I say no. But you have that final say." He looked back towards Valentine. "We'll keep a lookout." he said simply before turning his head down to the fallen mana beast.
Was he going to honor Lilitu's request? He stabbed his silver bo staff into the ground, leaving it in place. He bent down and sighed, he didn't know why but he felt he needed to do it. Everyone and everything with a bit of honor, deserved a proper burial. It may have looked odd to some, but Valo swung the fallen mana beast over his shoulder and walked to a decent place to give him a proper burial for a knight.
It seemed every time he was in Kikka, he's burying someone new.

[attr="class","textie"]Vulkan watched as the red head scrambled out of his grasp, and down to the ground she looked irritated perhaps even angry at him, but that didn't bother him. At least not that she would be able to see his face was covered with a lava helm at the moment, his aura didn't die down as he was waiting for his opponent to make it's way to the group so he could be told whether or not he needed to execute it. Though as he surveyed the scene nearby as he realized that innocents had been harmed due to one of their own number, children especially before warm flames of healing encircled them potentially bringing them back. Vulkan tilted his head to the shadow mage who was confessing what appeared to be his crimes to the rest of the group. The heat intensified for a brief moment as he pondered several things.
This man...This Vaile was not mentally stable in the slightest as he had seemingly lost control of his magic in the midst of the fight with the enemies, and that is what led to this. To say he was angry was an understatement at the thought of someone like this appearing, and causing all this harm to innocents. He took stock of everyone at the moment, and began to think, they were slowed down immensely due to his spell, none of them would be able to make in time if he decided to sink one of his lances into the mans chest, and burn him alive from the inside. It was not a very knight like thought, but he had given his mantle to the little girl for the time being so she would feel a little safe, and understand that her efforts hadn't been wasted. But this man...This man had just made a mockery of her sacrifice, and that irritated him.
Vulkan however was not the one in charge here, Jett was, and he would respect whatever the Purple Orca Captain decided. They were here to save the city from the Daemon afterall, and it would do no good to have dissention among the ranks, but this was an issue they could not afford ignore before they pressed forward. Keeping his armor on, was barely a strain for him, but all he could think about was potentially ending the wrongdoers life. It was a thought that would not normally enter his mind, but the man had caused children to die...Whether they were back or not wasn't the issue, it was the fact that it had happened at all.
"I see...So the white haired one lost control, and caused that black dome I saw earlier..." He spoke softly in his emotionless tone as he drank in all the information. "The children were injured because of you..." Slowly was how he spoke as he tried to comprehend why this person had been allowed to come anyway. Hans, Valo, and Genesis made sense because they had been here before, and had information. But to let some unknown join them was a folly, and now they were paying for that mistake.
"Personally I would see you thrown in the dungeons for this...But I am not the leader so the decision on what to do with you lies with Captain Jett..." He said simply, and then turned his attention back to where his opponent was slowly approaching from. With it's speed reduced to that of a crawl dealing with it wouldn't be an issue for the group as a whole.
So he simply waited without another word the lava like tail protruding from his back flicking impatiently in the air as he watched, and waited. He had lied...He didn't want to throw the man in the dungeons what he wanted was retribution, to equalize what he had done, and to see him pay dearly for his crimes. Vulkan had fought many people in his life, some had tried to kill him, one nearly succeeded, and he had never felt this before. Was it because he had seen their bodies? What was eating at him was more than just normal anger. Despite the constant heat he gave off he felt hotter than normal as if his body was boiling from the inside with rage.
His voice didn't give away how he felt, and with how still he was, he seemed almost like a statue as he waited for Hinota to tell him what she saw from the creature he had been fighting. What everyone else felt was lost on him, he didn't know if they liked the white haired man, or if they cared about what happened to him. To have casualties like this was not okay, and the thought of him not being here to potentially stop it was what bothered him the most. He had left to deal with the lone enemy trusting that the rest of them would be able to handle themselves just fine here with Jett. It turned out he was wrong in his decision, perhaps if he had stayed he could have used one of his defensive spells to protect the innocents when Hinota called it for them. Or maybe he wouldn't have made a difference at all, he wouldn't know for sure.
Taking a deep breath he just continued to think about what could have been, and what was. Just like the stories he read growing up he still wanted to be someone who could save everyone. However it was becoming painfully obvious to him that he was a very long way away from making that dream a reality. Power could only get you so far, and he was strong, but that did him no good when he wasn't there to actually save those that needed saving. It was just as Alphonse had always told him, a blade without conviction was easy to break. Despite his single lie he had meant what he said about listening to Jett, whatever he deemed fitting would be good enough for him.
Battle Breakdown: Vulkan mused with the idea of shoving a lance into Vailes chest, but didn't, and is now just watching the last mana beast make its way to the group so Hino can tell everyone if it is a real creature or not. His speed debuff is still up, and he isn't letting it down until the last creature has been dealt with.

I forgot to include here is what his armor looks like. Vulkans Armor
The doll-like mage had remained in the house most of the time since the skirmish had happened and watched everything unfold much like a bystander. She didn't have much she could to do help them in a fight so was doing her best with what she had. Just by the display of power that Charlotte had shown within her healing she knew she had a long way to go and it made her feel somewhat inferior, she had always been praised with how she took to the magic herself but this showed her she was nothing more than an amateur at best that had a long way to go before she would truly be of use to anyone. She couldn't really lie it frustrated and upset her but then this was the real world, not the bubble that she had been kept in most of her life, but even then she realised there were always going to be people more skilled in what she was proficient in. She was still young and hadn't experienced as much as others in the group after all she was from a noble family who doted and cherished her giving her everything she would ever ask for and had the best of everything when her parents around then she had a nanny and tutors who would look after her and teach her. She knew they weren't happy at the idea that she went against their wants when she joined her squad as they hoped for her to settle down or join the Blue Roses so her mother could keep an eye on her. She didn't want to be a trophy wife, didn't want to ride on the coattails of her family nor did she want her mother being a second shadow to her. Her rebellion however had cost her dearly and now she had a fear that she never thought she would have. [break][break] Still, even if her healing was weak at the moment each step she took helped to make it stronger and while she did she could still help with that tactical mind that she was raised to have by her parents and tutors. It was true there where people who could think quicker than herself but she could still assess a situation quicker than most people and put plans into action before most so she would take that. She also knew that this would grow as she gained experience so didn't worry about it. She kept the sleeping Nanami to her side and used Vulkan's cloak much like a blanket to bundle her up so she wouldn't get cold. She kept her eyes on Vaile who had recently had a breakdown and seemed to be comforted by Charlotte as if he was her own son and what he did was a small mistake that wasn't a big deal. It was true that the injured were healed and the youth which were dead started to breathe, she couldn't help but feel that viscous bile she felt welling up when she got angry but she managed to push it down. "You are a loose cannon, healing of that level takes sacrifice from the one casting and also weakens the ones being revived." she called out her words didn't show anger but they did show concern for the action "We can't trust you." to many in the group it was as simple as that and had voiced it as such but it was true it would be the captain of the purple orca that would decide the man's fate but she also meant if anything further went wrong if he allowed him to stay then it would be his reputation on the line it was a difficult situation. [break][break] It seemed what had frustrated the entire group that he had joined here for selfish reasons instead of why people were actually asked to come here. "You took the spot of someone who actually would want to help these people all because you want to find someone who might not actually be in this city?" she said with a frustrated tone, she couldn't believe what he had said in all honesty she needed to do a double-take "Do you have any idea how selfish you seem right now? If this person truly did get accepted to take part in this mission I can guarantee they didn't do it to look for you, they have done it to save these people in a selfless act. Now grow a pair and be a man instead of a whiny little boy who feels he is entitled to put many innocent lives at risk just to find one person who might not even be here." she said her tone harsher than what it normally was "I'm sure they would be ashamed of your actions, we aren't asking you to be a hero but we are asking for some basic human compassion on the plight these people are going through." she gripped the bottom of her hanfu shaking her head "How would that person be if you did meet them here and told them what you had done all in the name of finding them? I believe they would be ashamed more so because they would have been here trying to help!" she went quiet for a moment "You should leave as you are as much a danger to these people as the daemons are but that call is not mine to make." she said honestly before looking up once more what he had done and could possibly do in the future put Nanami's sacrifice to waste and she couldn't bear to think of such a thing. [break][break] Soon enough she saw her senior come back with the redheaded assassin and her none too happy about the situation of being carried to the point she demanded that she be put down. She could understand as she herself wasn't one for touch, it wasn't because she was against personal contact it was just the way she was raised it wasn't something that happened often and with the traditions, she was raised with it was something that was seen as almost taboo unless you were family or were married to the person. The physical contact she had with her family was limited as was the physical contact with her nanny so for most of her life, she hadn't really had any and so she panicked when it happened. She still couldn't believe that she screamed in Raque when Naxel had touched her shoulder. Still, it had happened and likely would continue to in the future but she hoped over time she would get better. When her senior spoke she broke out of the current train of thought and nodded understanding why he would do such a thing and looked behind him "Civilian!" she called out allowing the returning pair to know that the person was of no threat "Looks to be late teens to early twenties." she gave the little additional information she could in the hopes to help them. [break][break] Her eyes went to Genesis who seemed somewhat shook although she had no idea why. They then went quickly to Valo as his stance changed "How is what possible?" She couldn't help but ask him as only had heard the female daemon's words soon enough his stance had changed once more to be somewhat how it had been she was starting to wonder if those who had been here previously had some sort of ptsd but as of yet there was no proof of it outside of these two small changes. She listened to his words and had to agree with them but remained silent what happened next however confused her. He had stabbed his staff into the ground before picking up the mana beast and wandering off with it somewhere she would actually have to ask what he did and why when he returned because it would likely be something on most people's minds.
[attr="class","jettcomscroll"] With the exception on the outcome of what had happened with Vulkan, still unknown to the captain, the initial skirmish was over and so too was the danger. In the end it was themselves that posed the most danger to group and the city as a whole. One of Jett’s biggest worries upon taking on the request had already been realised in the opening number of the battle, innocents hurt. His sapphire eyes darted side to side, doing their best to pierce through the veil of darkness that encompassed Kikka. The mana beast he helped to dispose of left unmoving whilst the rest, for the most part, were left wounded. Jett along with a couple other in his presence did what they could to heal the wounds from their bodies and leave them unscarred, but the diamond wizard knew full well that their magic would do little to heal the mental scars. He just hoped that the illusion they were under left them unaware of what had really happened. It wasn’t long before the other two return, the news of the beasts identity revealed. Jett took this as a personal failure and believed the rest should think the same way. As captain he should’ve stopped the lava mage from running off alone, strength alone wasn’t enough in this situation, he had knew better than that. The bodies that lined the street was his responsibility, though he and Charlotte were doing their best to save what they could, the effects on Charlotte were clearly taking their toll as she told Jett to not worry about them. It wasn’t something he could forget so easily though, needing to save those he could but there were more things at play here. The Vanilla clone need to be dealt with as the main culprit of the damage caused to the town, this wasn’t a simple mistake, this was careless and dangerous. [break][break] Angered wasn’t the right word for what Jett was feeling at this moment, disjointed and unorganized as he had expected the group to be, he hadn’t envisioned that the man with his friend’s face would cause such a detriment to the group. The thoughts swirled though the captain’s mind of what they should do with the shadow wizard. His strength was clear for all to see, a definite plus among the group in terms of offensive power but when turned against the group, maybe it was only Jett and Vulkan who could hold their own against the man. Still concentrating on the healing of the wounded innocents, despite Charlotte’s words to him, Jett would give himself as much time as he could to come up with a plan or some sort of decision in what to do with Valentine. It wasn’t his decision alone, however, the group needed to agree and the majority of them voiced their opinions on the matter and calling out the man for his actions but all seemingly looking to Jett to make the final call. The burden of authority it would seem, and the weight could almost be felt physically resting upon his shoulders as he contemplated what would ensure the safety of the most lives. The faces and words of the group spoke of their uneasiness around the shadow mage, and a single glance at Charlotte told him of the ultimate price of this failure. The white haired man’s words didn’t go unnoticed though, while his reasonings didn’t make sense to Jett, he understood that he had a goal he wished to attain, like the rest here. While confident in his ability to keep the man on a short leash and deliver quick justice should he fall out of line again, that confidence faded when he thought about having to do it in front of the deamons. Fighting against multiple strong opponents at the same time wasn’t going to end well for anyone involved. He needed to be at the top of his game to ensure everyone’s survival, both civilians and those in his group. Ultimately, while the man made them stronger, giving them a greater chance of victory, he was a ticking time bomb that could cause more casualties. [break][break] ”As Hans has said, give us the name, and a description of some sort, of the person you seek and we’ll do our best to help find them. As a collective our goal is to save this city with no casualties, so naturally the person you seek will be included in that. You seem to hold a firm grasp upon what your actions mean, as well as hearing the rest of the group’s opinion. Not only have you put the life of your comrades on the line but the lives of the very civilians we’re sworn to protect are now in the balance. I’m unsure if you know the weight of healing magic has on a person, but your eyes alone should be enough to see what effect it’s had on Charlotte. While I am more than confident in my own ability to keep you in check, should you have another break down, whatever boons you give this group are negated by the time and effort it would take to subdue you once more.“ Jett took a break, to look at the group as a whole before looking back to Valentine, walking close to the man his grimoire glowing slightly, matching the building of his mana. ”However, assuming your words are honest, you’ll make this much easier for us and surrender yourself to allow us to face the task at hand at full strength, rather than us wasting mana and energy against any resistance you’d put up against us now.” Jett awaited the man’s response, ready to act if it was necessary, though he believed it would go smoothly. Perhaps he trusted the face, rather than the man but either way, he was ready and he had no doubt there was others in the group who would step up just as quickly if they were called upon.

"Civilian!"
That was all she needed. Gen walked back—because her movements were slowed—to where the illusion-cloaked beast was, the one that was trailing behind the Golden Dawn knight. Balling her hands up to a fist, she swung it at the side of the head, attempting to knock it out. If she succeeded and it fell, she would try to drag the unconscious youth towards the house, where all the healing was going in. He looked to be around the same age as her. These poor innocent civilians, being bodily used against their will. Not only could she not see through the illusion, but it seemed like they were also momentarily possessed during the time they were under the dark spell.
Now she leaned against the house, suddenly overcome with a wave of weariness. Her endurance was still something she needed to work on. What good was she if she could only handle one major fight and become entirely useless afterwards? For a few moments, she closed her eyes and relaxed her body, letting her breathing become more controlled and regular. She could feel the breath circulating within her, and she let it tap away on the fatigue. Just a few minutes, and she would be able to get back into the fight...
"How is that possible?"
Eyes fluttering open, she came out of her momentary meditation and back into reality. She glanced up to see the Green Mantis knight stick his bo staff onto the ground...and take off from the group, carrying the dead mana beast. Little did she know that she was not the only one to be contacted by a daemon. All she could do was stand there and wonder what he was doing. Why was he carrying it away... Then her eyes gleamed in understanding. From her time training and fighting with Valo, she had gotten to know that he was also one to respect life, and he never sought to prolong pain or torture, even for mana beasts. Just like her, he would always give a word or two to properly send off a soul at its death. She nodded. She understood.
But then there was the other shadow mage. As the others gave their opinions about him, the redhead stayed silent, listening and observant to everyone’s reactions and tone of voice. She understood what it felt like to be in Vincent-Valentine’s shoes, but did not presume to know what was going on in his mind. She had been knocked out the last time, but upon awakening, pushed herself to mend her quick tempered ways and become better, become stronger. But it seemed like not everyone took it like she did.
Charlotte had gone over to comfort the silver-haired man, and even the dark mage had offered to help find the person he was looking for. Truly, the mercenary had more patience and compassion than she did. She rather agreed with Hinota’s response, though she would have shown it with actions than with words. But then again, she had met him once before, and had a slight bias towards her fellow shadow user. But if it was true that his presence was not beneficial to the group nor its goal or freeing Kikka from the daemons, then all that great power may possibly become their liability. It seemed like the Purple Orca captain had made his decision to arrest him, asking the male mage not to fight against them.
Genesis now turned to look towards the house, to make sure that Charlotte and Nanami were all right. The former looked exhausted from all her healing, and it was a pity that she could not do anything to help their hostess. As for the little girl, she seemed to be safe inside the house with the Golden Dawn female. Speaking of which, she twisted the bracelet around her wrist. Everything seemed safe...for now. Shadows wavered around her hand as she addressed the junior healer.

It had seemed as if the worst was over, for now, Charlotte had even done her best to help comfort the white-haired mage as only a mother could. It was true that what he did was a crime and for that, he would need to deal with the consequences but at the same time these weren't exactly normal times within Kikka and the darkness could make even the most rational people act in irrational ways. No one really knew the past of anyone else within the group, sure, she knew some things of her former captain and quite a bit about Valo as they did of her and Nanami but on the whole, the group were complete strangers to one another and had to keep in mind that there could be things that would trigger one person that might not trigger another on top of this with the daemons being masters of illusion and able to aim them at one person it is unsure if it was truly a personal madness he was going through or if it was something they were doing to him to make him lash out as he had and without someone stopping to ask him these questions it was nothing more than potentially pointing fingers at a man that could have been any of them. "How about you all stop acting irrationally and ask him why he acted in such a manner!" Charlotte finally said with a cross tone "You don't know this man or his history yet you are condemning him, it's true that lives were lost but you also don't know why he acted the way he did so act like grown-ups and find out." she was tired after reviving the children and was irritated at how the others were reacting towards a man that was clearly suffering.
"Valentine, life is a very precious thing and though strong enough healing can bring people back from death's judgement if cast for a short time afterwards it takes a toll on the one casting the spell and those having to be guided back from that judgement." She explained to him "Death always gets a prize regardless so where I can understand you are sorry and though I have no idea what made you react in such a manner you need to be more careful if you proceed forward within this expedition." she said her tone gentle once again, the fatigue clearly heard in her voice. "You make up for what you've done by learning from the mistake and if needed seeking help so it doesn't happen again." she knew that her words meant very little most likely to the man but it was the best she could offer as at the end of the day it would be the active magic knights that would decide the man's fate going forward after all he had committed a heinous crime even if it wasn't meant it could be seen as involuntary manslaughter and where she might not be out for blood the parents of those children surely would be. It was then she heard him saying that she shouldn't be showing him sympathy that he didn't deserve it and could only give a saddening sigh "You were a very lonely and neglected child weren't you Valentine." she said her head moving to look at him "Everyone deserves understanding and to know they aren't alone when they need be supported the most especially when mistakes regardless of how big or small they are have been made." Her eyes moved to Valo "Valoriss is the best example I can give on this matter." she said remembering how he was before he got on the straight and narrow.
The group would have to listen to what the man said before they could even get their own words in, the former purple orca could understand everyone's point of view but at the end of the day it was her former captain that would have to make the deciding call and so he did saying that he was under arrest and hoped that the man wouldn't make it any harder than it had to be. "Captain, please don't be so rash. I understand that punishment needs to be handed out for the crime and I understand that his reasons for being here are completely selfish but allow him to atone by helping the people of the town regain their freedom." she would say almost attempting to stand up but realising if she did she was likely going to fall back down again. "When children misbehave, don't want to do something or demand something we as parents need to teach them how they are expected to behave, have them do what is expected of them or make them understand that just because they want and or demand something that they need to earn it." she explained hoping that she may sway Jett's decision a little allowing the group to see that it wasn't a normal thing for the male but it also would mean that she was putting her own reputation on the line for a man she knew nothing about.
It was then that the woman heard the mercenaries voice and smiled "There are no thanks needed I assure you..." she began looking at the children that seemed to be coming around "You see even though I am no longer an active serving member of the purple orca the sense of duty never really goes away, I guess it's the same for all magic knights when they leave their squads." she said with a gentle smile "Then again, it could be because my own daughter was given back to me so I didn't believe it right that other parents as cruel as they may have been to Nanami and I deserve the pain of loss that could have come with their passing." her voice was honest, she remembered the pain of losing her husband and child, the pain of being asked to choose which would be revived and then the pain of being an outcast due to the daemons actions towards them since that day but she wanted to show her daughter that though the world was cruel it took only one person to change things for the better, that in the darkness actions of compassion and understanding could be the brightest light and that she didn't have to fall into despair because people didn't understand her. "The darkness is suffocating but the loss of a child pales in comparison so if I can help such pain from happening then I will." she said to the mercenary although she knew Valo would likely have a few choice words towards her and her actions but then he would always be that little hot head to her and that was one of the traits he loved about the green mantis knight.
It seemed as if Ito had managed to strike a nerve with the red-headed assassin once again as he spoke "I must admit, I never took you for the modelling type but when I seen the magazine I was intrigued and so bought a copy and am currently reading it. You look far different than you do now, beautiful perfection with a side of cringe not that the side dish was your fault but the people that decided an oversized belt, frumpy bell sleeves and an over the top hat was the best thing to put you in." he sighed a little "People should leave true beauty alone instead of meddling with it or altering it to what the sheep see as beautiful or fashionable." he said sounding somewhat disappointed at the images, he had admitted they were beautiful but by his latter words it was clear he preferred her how she was naturally "I guess I will just have to design you a dress myself that would be more suited to your tastes be sure to keep an eye on your mail won't you?" this entire conversation was said to genesis alone, he didn't care how she reacted to this however she knew full well that he knew where she lived as the boots and bracelet that she was currently wearing had been hand-delivered in a parcel to her home when she came back from her 'therapy' session in the woods after the first time she had been here. It was then the male's voice addressed the group as a whole "We had nothing to do with his little freakout, those deaths were his own doing because he most likely saw something of his past that still haunts him to this day." he said his tone holding a stoic yet almost superior tone that it had before the tone that the original three would know all too well "But the shadows and darkness have a way of bringing forth hidden pain or manifestations so as much as I would love to see him continue to remodel Kikka as those before him did, I would have to say it is a bad idea because you never know if he'll see what he did before again." Ito informed the group before it seemed he turned his attentions to Valentine himself "Your little princess is indeed within the town, she is safe at current and will continue to be safe so longs you behave yourself and not go and kill any more people... accidents do tend to happen when there is no one strong there to protect the weak from the darkness after all." It was clearly a threat that if the man did stay he would have to stay on the straight and narrow or it would be Verena that would pay the price for his sins going forward as far as the daemon was concerned but on the other hand, the daemon would protect her so longs he managed to keep control of his own sanity and not harm anyone else. Ito's words also held a cryptic message and right now no one of the group knew that the three weakest of the other group were alone without anyone of higher rank around them to protect them from what might head their way.
"Thank you for doing that for him my dear prince." she whispered almost as if she was behind him, her tone was that of someone in mourning "And yes, he was once a knight many years ago unfortunately when people come to my graveyard over time they change from their natural forms to that of what you have seen and come across thus far, I think it is something tainted within my magic perhaps because of the race I a who knows." it was as simple as that to her, she knew she was far from the purest thing out there but she honestly did treasure those who she took into her care after their deaths. "I have kept my promise to you and the other for the most part, I have only left the purple orca headquarters three times and during that time I have done no harm to anyone believing that it would balance itself out for breaking the promise. If you feel atonement has to be done for the promise being breached let me know what you feel is a fair trade and I will do my best to fulfil it however I will not take my own life, take the life of my brother as I will not leave the headquarters and will not turn against my father not fully." She had made a promise to the green mantis mage and Charles a member of the black bulls and though she had tried to be fair in the atonement at the end of the day only they could decide what made the broken promise fixable.
"The first was to give you both safe passage out of Kikka, the second was to gather information, I must admit you looked quite handsome at the ball and the third was to watch your group enter the city." her voice was as wispy as ever but she had revealed something, the pair had been at the spirit ball that evening or at least they had been within the palace doing who knows what but it was clear whatever they had been doing no one had died so she had been truthful about not killing anyone when she had been outside the purple orca headquarters. She would await his answer on whether her personal atonement was enough of if Valo believed that something else was needed due to the breaking of her word.
The returning golden dawn mage took in all the information quickly and gave his own words on the matter, he had expected them to be able to take care of the trash there while he dealt with the lone one but it seemed like he had made an error in judgement as one of their own group had decided to not just harm people but kill three of them due to his mental instability. What no one knew was he had lied about wanting to throw the man into a prison cell, he would have happily have killed him if he could have gotten away with it as what he did was unforgivable in the silver-haired man's eyes which was an understandable sentiment that many of the group would have backed more so due to the sacrifice that was Nanami was having to go through to keep the town completely safe. The little girl had been given safe passage out of the town but refused to leave without her mommy so the pair was given the same offer of safe passage and where Charlotte in a moment of weakness had contemplated it wanting to protect her little girl from all the darkness she left the ultimate decision to Nanami explaining to her what it would mean if they left home and so they had remained to protect the town from the brunt of the darkness and cruelty that could have come their way. The town had been beyond cruel to the mother and daughter not realising where yes they did get some special treatments that if they did leave then the rest of them would have had it far harder than they had now but at the end of the day their envy had made them blind to that fact and only had them sling their hatred towards the grieving family who had done them no wrong.
The normal gentle and demure doll-like mage spoke her mind and was harsher within them than she normally was thanks to what she had seen. It was clear she was upset and angry at what had transpired and to find out that he wasn't even here to help the people but his own sucky selfish reasons were just the proverbial cherry on a shitty cake in her and everyone else's mind it would seem. When she heard Vulkan and Genesis ask about the last enemy she informed them that it was indeed a civilian and that they looked to be between late teens to early twenties it was however clear that the actions and words of Valo and Genesis confused the woman but for now, she gained no answer to her question but she believed that would come in time more so as Valo had walked off with the carcass of the dead mana beast, now everything laid with Jett to decide as the group had decided they would follow his word on what was to happen to the selfish, loose cannon of a man. As the purple orca captain and the others dealt with Valentine the red-headed assassin knocked out the final civilian before slowly making her way over to the doll-like mage speaking to her making the woman nod. "It might be best given the current goings-on." she said softly to the other.
Story:
Valentine has been spoken to by Charlotte and has even spoken to Jett to allow him a chance to atone for what he has done in the hopes for a lesser sentence. Ito has teased Genesis a little about her modelling and said that he will even make her a dress that would suit her better than what she was caught on camera with. Lilitu explained a little about the mana beast and how her magic seems to taint things after a while to Valo even telling him that she broke the promise and if what she did, didn't equal fair trade for the broken promise that she would allow him to chose the atonement with a few exceptions. She even let out that she had seen him at the ball showing that the twins had been at the spirit ball. Ito spoke to the group letting them know valentine's breakdown had nothing to do with them that the darkness may have brought back some sort of illusion of his own memories, he confirmed to the man that Verena was indeed within the city, that she was currently safe and would continue to be safe so longs he didn't keep breaking down and trying to lessen the population of Kikka because the young summoner would be paying the price for his sins going forward if he remained. He also cryptically said that the weaker people of the other group had no safety net of those stronger around them. It is now up to the group how they proceed with what has happened.
[attr="class","lonelyscroll"] CW for mentions of death and/or wanting to die.[break] [break]“You are right to say you don’t know me.” Vaile shook his head, strangers didn’t need to tell each other that they didn’t know one another. That was the definition of strangers, and they didn’t need to be anything more than that. He would let himself be taken, or bound, or arrested, or whatever else the Orca had decided because that was the right thing to do. [break][break] There was no use in apology, little words meant nothing and could not make up for actions he’d done. [break][break] “She’ll know who I am.” He finally mentioned to Hans, giving him detail about the identity of the woman he’d once tried so hard to find. “She’ll know the name Valentine. She has a grimoire like yours, one with four leaves.” With the tiredness in his voice, the mercenary would have needed to realize that was all Valentine would give him. [break][break] Regardless, Charlotte’s words still stung. It just didn’t make sense, and the more she spoke like she cared the more he realized that her efforts were nothing but useless. “Don’t waste your efforts having sympathy for a stranger who’s done nothing for you.” He looked away again, he could not meet her eyes, nor look at her. He was too ashamed to accept her feelings. [break][break] “Whatever repentance means, I’m willing to pay.” [break][break]
"So you think begging makes you better?"
[break] No, I don’t. [break][break]
"Then why do it?"
[break] I don’t know what else to do. [break][break]
"Do you want to die?"
[break] I…
[break] He was selfish. Irresponsibly, irrevocably, ignorantly selfish. So what could he do? What could he do other than stumble and fall and make mistake after mistake? He couldn’t even ask for forgiveness. So what was he supposed to do? Why did he feel the way he did? Why did anger boil over into frustration? Why did desperation turn into unrelenting aggravation? Why were all the voices speaking up at once, all stating they knew what his punishment was supposed to be? [break][break] But then, there was another voice in his head. One he didn’t recognize, one that spoke to him in sickly sweet words enveloped him like a moth to a flame. They were words he had no choice but to believe, because in the Daemon’s realm, their word was law. [break][break] “She’s safe.” [break][break] They were only words he could say after hearing the words of the Daemon in his mind. He clung to them, he grasped onto them like it was the last thing he could reach for. If it was possible to fall further, then he did. Collapsing to the ground, trembling like a madman. Behave. Like a child who’d acted rashly and needed discipline. Behave. Like a son who’d disappointed his father. Behave. It was an order he had to follow. [break][break] A smile so sickly depraved wormed its way onto his lips. Words cried without tears, whispers breaking into the dark. Perhaps if he had listened, then it would have mattered. For the fact that he didn’t, it mattered not. How could they ensure that the mess of a man that he was wouldn’t misbehave yet again? [break][break] Perhaps there was only one way. [break][break] He wasn’t supposed to care. This wasn’t supposed to happen. But then it did, so what was he supposed to do? If dying meant cowardice then wasn’t that okay? Because wasn’t he a coward anyway? [break][break]
“You need to kill me.” [break][break] He said quietly. Head down. Magic faded. There was only surrender, complete and utter surrender. And yet somehow he knew, he felt that he wouldn’t be granted such a mercy. Because even as he had begged for death, only a fantasy would be granted to him. Because that answer would always remain just out of reach. It was wrong to have hope that one among them would understand, but there was another feeling he could undoubtedly rely on. Vengeance. Justice. Didn’t he feel such emotion emanating from that Golden Dawn Knight? The one that suffocated the air with his burning will and gross onset of lava and ego. [break][break] He was strong enough to do it. Perhaps the only other one there who could do so. [break][break] Because Jett King wouldn’t. [break][break] No matter what Valentine himself was, he was an improbability. He was a man who couldn’t be trusted, one who couldn’t make promises, and one who admitted that he was wasn’t there for any noble duty but to himself. Any good Knight would have seen that, even though the retiree was speaking words like understanding and sympathy. “It’s what that Daemon said. If I can’t control myself then the woman I’m looking for dies, and so do more people in this godforsaken hell.” [break][break] The Orca’s confidence was not one to be deterred, and Vaile would not argue it. But power wasn’t the point, nor was it the struggle that Valentine wasn’t to bring up. “It’s not a question of whether you can control me, it’s whether I can control myself.” A breakdown, a mental moment of vulnerability and despair that could never be taken back. He didn’t know how, but the Daemon knew exactly what demand of him that he could never truly give.[break][break]
“I already said that I can’t promise I can do that.” Perhaps he was repeating himself, but this was the only course he knew to take. “So kill me, and make sure that doesn’t happen.” [break][break] Because I’d rather die than lose someone again. [break][break] Admittance was a powerful thing, even if his tone was cold and dissonant. Again. What a terrible word that it was. He was the bad one, he was a problem that could be solved if only someone would be willing to do so.

It should come as no surprise when the male daemon’s voice once again spoke to her...but the content of his words did. Modelling? Oh, that gig she had with a certain ice mage. Then the daemon mentioned he even bought a copy of that week’s magazine. Goodness, just how involved was he in Clover Kingdom? Was his reach broad enough to extend even outside of Kikka?
It seemed like nothing passed his notice, not even the odd jobs that she has taken up here and there. But out of all of them, it struck her that it had to be that particular job. Well, it was for the Cloversationist, the most elite fashion magazine in all of the kingdom. Its vast popularity must be the reason why he caught upon it. At least, that was her take on it. She did not want to think about the other option, of him watching her every move and tracing her to her living place...
"You look far different than you do now, beautiful perfection with a side of cringe not that the side dish was your fault but the people that decided an oversized belt, frumpy bell sleeves and an over the top hat was the best thing to put you in."
He seemed to imply that he thought she looked better without that witch costume she wore for the photo shoot. The redhead raised an eyebrow, unsure as to how to proceed. Sure, she could say "thank you" and maybe compliment back at him...if he had been any other regular human being, it would have probably come off as flirting. But this...this was a daemon she was talking to. If he had wanted to throw her off, he was successful.
“Is that so?” She said slowly, cocking her head to the side. “Beauty is only skin deep, I’m afraid. Dig any deeper and you’d find only more to cringe about.” It was almost like a challenge for him to find the darkest and ugliest part of her beyond her outward appearance. Almost a challenge. Though he probably already knew much more about her than she would let on, and that was unsettling enough for her.
But she could not deny that he did have this apparent attention towards her. “If you were a human, one would say you have an obsession with me,” She remarked bluntly, drily. “Though you are a daemon, and I’m not going to ask how you found out where I lived...” She trailed off, thinking of the present he had sent her. Indeed, she was wearing both of those gifts now, the finely crafted boots on her feet as well as the bracelet around her wrist. And now, he was saying that she should keep an eye out because he was going to design a dress for her? “But why?” She wondered aloud, sincerely puzzled and also intrigued. But then he was addressing the whole group about the other shadow mage, so she left it at that.
There was some intense discussion as to what they should do with Vincent-slash-Valentine. All looked greatly disturbed, and it seemed like only a selected few sided with him. She would not say she felt for him, but she did. Especially when she had committed a fatal mistake the first time here in Kikka, and innocents were not left inscathed.
“You need to kill me.”
“No” was her blunt response, and even Gen was a little taken aback at herself. “Defeat the daemons first. That’s our goal.” She was mission-oriented, and it showed plainly now. “Goal first, feelings later. Killing you now would only give the daemons an advantage. So, no. At least not from me. Besides,” her tone took on a wry, if not sarcastic, note. “You’re only a half noble, and I only kill lazy full-blooded nobles.”
If he remembered, it was a reference back to the first time they met, back at another modeling job. She had said she hated nobles, and he had responded he was only half by blood. Even as they left, she had joked that he had a kind heart even though he tried to deny it, and still saw that side now, in his search for his female friend. Whether the other shadow mage would take her words or not was up to him. However, she had been in his shoes before, and knew what it felt like to cause innocent deaths on a single blunder. She had killed numerous civilians before, and almost wiped out her entire team if it were not for the daemon’s intervention.
In truth, her feelings had not really hit her until after they left Kikka, and she had seriously contemplated death as an alternative for her overwhelming guilt. If she had not thrown herself into training and pushing herself harder, the femme would definitely have committed death by her own hands. But she was still here, and was stronger because of it. Broken and shattered, but still here. She could only hope that the male shadow mage could see that they needed him now, despite his rash actions.
But that was all she had to say on that matter, and Gen had made her way over to the Golden Dawn healer and offered to contact the latter’s squad captain. With her affirmation, she nodded and waved her hand over the smoky quartz stone. “Golden Dawn captain Zaven Blake.” She said, as an amethyst liquid-like substance formed and hardened into a replica of their contact individual, presuming he would accept the communication spell. If he did, a figure of Genesis herself would appear on his side, and they would be able to communicate.
As she waited for the ‘call’ to go through, the shadow mage turned back to Hinota. “What do you want me to tell him? Or ask?” It was strange, contacting someone she did not personally know. But at least she had one of the squad members here, otherwise it would have been awkward indeed.

"When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back."
Hans could tell that Charlotte's maternal instincts were kicking in with Valentine. Among all of those who were talking down at the shadow mage, the former orca was quick to come to his defense. Hans felt bad for the silver-haired man as well, but he still didn't want to run the risk of others being harmed. Of course, he wasn't the only one as both Hinota and Valo had some words to share for that man, making the merc nod once in agreement. It was then that a decision was made by Jett to arrest Valentine, something Hans wasn't all to surprise to hear given what the shadow mage had done. Fortunately, it wasn't an outright execution because that would not have sat well with the merc. Charlotte still felt that this punishment was too harsh, but Hans decided not to add to this in any way. He was no Magic knight nor a former one, so this part didn't concern him.
The former Magic Knight then turned her attention to Hans, responding to his little thank you from before. He stood there and quietly listened to the woman as she spoke. Again, the merc is not a Knight himself, but he could understand where she was coming from. Even upon retirement, one is not truly free from their duties. She now spoke of her daughter and how she also played a role in doing what she had just done. Hans may not know much about this Charlotte person, but he has seen enough to know that she is a selfless person...and a really good mother. He nodded, smiling lightly at how he is reminded of his mother. "Just...be careful not to overexert yourself, miss." Hans may not know what it's like to lose a child...but he knows how it feels to lose a mother, and he wouldn't want Nanami to suffer the same fate....No child should.
Valentine was now talking a bit about this person he's searching for. He didn't give much info, but Hans could tell how drained the shadow mage looked and decided not to press on further. A woman with a four-leaf grimoire that knows the broken man's name...this should be enough. The merc gave him a nod, making sure to keep this information in his head. Little did Hans know that the person he was on the lookout for is also someone he knew...
"Hm?" Hans noticed that Valo was walking off...with that dead mana beast over his shoulder. A bit curious, Hans wanted to follow but as he started to walk, the merc noticed that those wings given to him by Valentine were gone now. The merc finally felt how slow he was going under Vulkan's spell, but still decided to follow, not being able to keep up since the fire mage had a bit of a head start. By the time Hans made it to where Valo was, the mantis knight was already in the middle of....burying that beast? Hans stood there quietly with an eyebrow raised. He knew that Valo must have some sort of deep respect for the dead since he has buried others before...but they were human. This was not just a mana beast, but one under the command of the daemons...At least, that's what Hans assumes. Perhaps Valo was looking at this from a different perspective?
From the mage's point of view, these beasts are the enemies, wanting to destroy but perhaps they are seen as...warriors, heroes from the side of the daemons? In the end, both sides are just fighting for their people. This is how it is for other kingdoms after all...so one could say the same about the daemons.
"Didn't want help?" Hans finally spoke up to the fire mage, gesturing his head at the burying.
