[attr="class","chisanascroll"] For once Chisana had gotten lucky with finding this request on the board at the Black Bulls base. It was about researching and trying to locate a possible dig site for archaeology. It was a chance to be a part of something that could be groundbreaking both figuratively and literally. So with a spring in his step Chisana quickly gathered his things and made his way to the meeting point making sure to have plenty of writing paper and the yearning to learn. The first step was to head to the Grand Archives and actually learn about the task at hand all Chisana was able to gather from the request was that a famous archaeologist, Ilhiana Vones was looking for bright minds and strong protectors to go with her on their research journey deep into the Forsaken region’s jungles. While Chisana was someone who loved to learn he wasn’t quite up to standard when it came to the various working of what went into such an endeavor.[break][break]
Chisana had been told that there would be multiple people also looking to join the crew and to expect people to be swarming the archives to brush up on their own knowledge and know how. “This will be so exciting, to possibly discover something new and history making.” Chisana said to himself as he arrived at the Grand Archives. “This place is busy as an ant hill, which makes sense given the news.” Every type of individual was milling around the large establishment, from scholars to the more seedy. With a huge smile on his face Chisana checked into the building and made his way towards the section of the building that held the various information about the Jungles that filled parts of the Forsaken region. It would be best to know what kind of creatures and hazards there were since he didn’t often visit that region and maybe he could also find any beneficial information about the types of plants that would help if harmed. No reason to make it into the crew only to be a burden once they arrived in the area, that would be devastating to say the less. [break][break]
Once he read through a couple of the book titles making sure that he was in the right place, Chisana grabbed the most board ones first. Hoping to gain an understanding of the general area and the most common things in it, this would help him when it came to learning more about the individual creatures and plants of the area since he would already know what the area was like and such. TL;DR Chisana has begun his journey of studying and learning.
Post by Hania Ravencrest✾ on Oct 19, 2020 19:08:16 GMT -5
The day had started much like others had, the white-haired male had raised little before dawn, went for a morning run around the family estate a few dozen times reading a book he had memorised along the way. It took away from the mind-numbing trivialities of the endurance and speed training he had been doing since he was a child, he understood why such things may have been needed but it didn't make it any less of an annoyance in his eyes. He was pretty sure at some point his usual route would end up being trapped and he'd have to stop reading and finally pay attention but then he was pretty sure Lydia had no idea what he was doing when he was doing his morning run if she had then perhaps things may have already gotten worse but that was an issue to deal with if and most likely when it would turn up. After he had done his laps he went and had a shower before going for a bath, it had been something he had always done, one of those quirks he just couldn't break from no matter what he tried. The way he had always made sense of it was the shower was to wash off the sweat and dirt he had built up from sleeping and exercising while the bath allowed the muscles to relax from the workout he had done.
After he had his normal wash and relax he grabbed a book and his breakfast beginning to read, eat and drink before looking for any notes or letters in his study. It was true he was a member of the Crimson Lions but for the most part, he didn't actually stay within the squad headquarters confines even though he did have a room there. This was mainly because he couldn't fit his personal library into it. It turned out Lydia had indeed left him a note and it turned out that it was right up his alley, he did dislike the 'brutish' path many of the others within his squad took when with a little bit of work you could manipulate a person into giving you what you want, that being said at times the 'brutish' path was the only way to go and Lydia had given him a good few lessons on how to fight if the time called for it. "An archaeological dig?" he said reading over the request, it seemed like a simple enough request but he always knew 'simple' was rarely what it seemed so packed a bag with pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, food, water, a first aid kit because he was pretty sure someone was going to get poisoned, bitten or something was going to get broken and he didn't have healing magic to deal with that, things needed for making tea because if he went more than a few hours without a cup of that someone was likely going to die and he didn't care about the consequences of those actions because he'd leave no witnesses.
He had also made sure to pack two sets of spare clothing because he just couldn't do dirt and grim, it would drive him nuts that and he was pretty sure something within his clothing was going to get ripped and that for a Ravencrest just wouldn't do on any level. With this all done he headed towards the grand archives because he believed there would likely be something in there that he would need to impress the archaeologist in question, well there was that and he was pretty sure there were others that would be on the expedition so he would have to quaint himself with them too. He just hoped they were smart he didn't feel like burying bodies so early in the morning. The grand archives weren't too far from home and given the crisp morning air he decided he would take a leisurely stroll to his destination with everything he had packed in tow. It wasn't all that long before he entered and moved his eyes just slightly, he had spent quite a bit of time here since his adoption into the Ravencrest family and was pretty sure he had made a dent in the books of the place but there was always more to learn and read but he hadn't had the time of late due to one thing or another whether it be for his squad duties or his actual family responsibilities.
He knew he'd be with a famous archaeologist but that didn't really bother him as he would be there to protect her and little more, he could do his own studies he guessed and that's why he brought the items he had but what he was interested in was who the others within this little squad of protectors would be. It turned out he wouldn't need long to see the first who had arrived a little before himself. 'A Black Bull. I know they aren't all dumb but I do hope he has more sense than most of his squad and decides not to be reckless.' he thought to himself as he moved forward towards the black-haired male. "Well, it isn't normally so busy this early in the morning but given the request, it was going to happen. Everyone here is likely looking to be part of the expedition for the academics or for more selfish purposes." he said overhearing what the other had said placing his bag down. His hand went to his chest and he bowed forward a little "My name is Hania Ravencrest, it is a pleasure to meet you." his tone was respectful to the other if not a bit formal but that was to be expected given his station in life and the burden that came with it. He looked at the books the other was reading and tilted his head with a smile, oh those fond memories when he was learning about poisons, venoms and how to cure them when he was without medical aid. "I don't think those books are going to quite help you as I don't think we are heading to that part of the forsaken region, I could be wrong however." he wasn't wanting to be 'that' guy but he would rather not have the other waste his time on information that wasn't relevant to the task at hand. "We could ask and see where exactly the expedition will be taking place and read more on that general area." he offered to the other as he started looking around for someone that might be able to help.
[attr="class","chisanascroll"] While reading Chisana heard someone speaking to him, looking up from his book which was detailing the various symptoms of someone who had been poisoned by a certain kind of snake he saw a long white haired man wearing the mantle of the Crimson Lions. The man told Chisana that it would probably be best to just ask about the area they would be going to and then look up the information of that area to see if it helped out more then just reading randomly. The man finally introduced himself as Hania Ravencrest, a family that Chisana was well acquainted with by now having met a handful of them while dungeon diving and of course having a friendship with Lydia. It was very hit or miss on if the individuals from the family where either stuck up nobles who saw everyone beneath them just due to their birth or even what squad they were in or if they accept people for who they were based on actions instead of standing. Chisana hoped that this one would be the latter because having had dealt with the younger ones of the family he was already done with that headache.[break][break]
“Thank you for the advice, I am Chisana Shengxiao.” Chisana replied to Hania with the same amount of politeness and formality. “I’m surprised that a Ravencrest would join in on this endeavor since the ones I have met tended to enjoy dungeons and brute forcing their way of live onto others.” Chisana mentioned as he thought about the somewhat crass Ravencrests that he had to babysit through the Eldritch Home dungeon. “I do believe that asking about where we are suppose to be heading would be quite a bit more efficient, so lets do just that shall we?” Chisana said as he closed his book and placed it on the small stack he had already read through, he was gaining quite a bit of knowledge on the various wildlife and history of the surrounding areas. After a little bit of searching he was able to find the individual who had put out the request and questioned them more about where they would be actually going. Once Chisana received the information he was looking for he waved to Hania to follow him as he went about finding various books on the more exact area they would be going. Once they returned to the table Chisana had originally started at he dived into the books and read up on the history of the area there, many of the texts spoke about the various Snake Temples in the jungle. It seemed that whatever importance there was behind why they were set up had been lost to time and with that information the reason behind the dig request was making more sense. It would seem that they would be trying to get more information on why on earth there was so many Snake Temples in the jungle. “Well that is interesting indeed. Thank you Hania for the guidance though learning about the various creatures I’m sure will be helpful in the long run. I am looking forward to working with you on this possibly historic expedition.” Chisana said with a smile on his face. Once they completed their study on the area Chisana would give his farewell to Hania and depart back to the squad base to prepare more for the rest of the expedition.[break][break]

Hania nodded to the other with a smile, he could, of course, be like his cousins if the needs must but he'd rather not be the arrogant asshole that burned bridges with others if he could help it because one day he may need that bridge and once destroyed there was very little chance of mending it. "Shengxiao..." he sounded as he was deep in thought "I have heard of the family before, if I am not mistaken you have twelve branches within your family each representing one of the Zodiac" he said eventually, he had to admit he had never heard of a family with so many branches but then this one was also odd because it didn't have a main bloodline within it and so there would never be a family head or heir, it was more like a council of elders. It was something that intrigued him he had to admit. "I would love to learn more about your family if you are willing to let me learn." he said his voice respectful as he spoke as he knew some families could be a bit protective when it came to their family information such as his own were in some aspects at least but then this was likely how they got to the position they were in and managed to keep it too. His words also showed that the Black Bull mage could decline the request and no offence would be taken by the teen.
"You are welcome by the way, as they say, if you work smart then you don't need to work hard." he said bringing his hand up to his mouth as he chuckled, it was the truth of the matter but then the other brought up his own family and caused him to sigh "Yes, well not all of my family are refined and believe that the only way to do anything is to throw around our family name or brute force their way to get what they want." he said his hand going to his head as he let out an exasperated sigh "I swear some of my family need to be pushed into a black hole spell." he said with a smile as he brought his hand down "That being said we don't choose our families and we are bound to love them flaws and all." he said with a light chuckle, he may have thought some of his family were brain dead and lacked even a tenth of a brain cell but he would protect and defend them none the less as they were still his family. "I am a scholar and observer so I enjoy learning and unlocking secrets that might have been forgotten; it also helps I have an eidetic memory so I tend not to forget things after I learn them which drives many people up the wall especially since I can find I can learn something from everything." he said with a light shrug, he wasn't saying this to brag and that was clear in his tone it was just a tool the pair could use going forward if they were selected for the expedition.
He nodded and followed as the other agreed with his suggestion that they go ask for the area where they were going to, however, he had picked up the small stack of books the other had been reading and placed them back on the correct bookshelves. It was something he just couldn't stand normally but it was even worse with books and he remembered the last time someone ruffled the archivist's feathers, he was pretty sure that they were still somewhere in the grand library sorting and cataloguing. "I would like to warn you if you take a book from a shelve make sure to put it back where you found it as the archivist is not the most forgiving of men when chaos enters his order." he warned the other and it didn't matter the age, rank of social standing or squad he would make you atone for your sins if he caught you. Just as he had finished putting back the final book he saw the other waving him over and headed in the direction he was ushered to believing that the other had found out the information that was required for them to move forward with this task. It would seem as if they were going to be dealing with snakes so that came with the peril of being bitten and injected with venom but then there were also deadly and poisonous plants that could be eaten or either could be placed onto traps within the temple which was an additional concern to the teen, he really didn't want to have Lydia worry about him due to being deathly sick for his idiocy and lack of awareness.
Over time the pair had spent together they read through the books giving them information on the snakes of the area, the remedies and what to avoid eating, of course, there was nothing on the temple itself but that was to be expected as that was why the expedition was taking place in the first place. Some of this information he already knew such as some snake types and poisonous plants and so just slid the books over before going over the books giving him information on medicines and remedies for other snakes he didn't know. To be on the safe side he decided to make notes on things he found important as where he may have a near-perfect memory it didn't mean the other did and so he wanted to make sure the other knew what to do in certain emergencies. "It seems like this place is going to be dreadful." he couldn't help but sigh, no one should get him wrong he was going to enjoy the scholarly aspect of this expedition but the heat and humidity were going to kill him do doubt. "I agree, this will definitely be something we should be proud to be taking part in as not nobility or magic knights but as citizens of Clover." he said with an almost excited tone "I made some notes and will bring them with me, I thought they might be able to aid the group." he said in honesty he wanted to make sure that the other knew what to do in an emergency. "I am looking forward to working with you to Chisana." he waved as the other left leaving him to put the books back on the proper shelves in the spots they were meant to go before leaving, he gave the supplies to the head of the expedition as backing from his family which in honesty wasn't all that uncommon for things such as this.
