Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Kiten. The last time Valo was here he was on his second mission as a junior rank magic knight. He remembered that mission like it was yesterday, it was the very first time he felt truly tested and felt he had to give it his all. The fire magic knight sat on top of his white dragon golem Mashiro, as the memories flooded his mind. It was a haunted castle of sorts, and the images of being tossed through walls by wild banshees left a smirk on his face. He's come a long way since then.
He flew into the city this time on another mission, it was season of holidays and festivities so that crime was at an all time high. The sun was going down and night time was near. Certain noble's and lords in the city of Kiten have sought out assistance on this matter. So here he was answering the call as a magic knight from Green Mantis. With the weather being cooler, he dressed for occasion his Green Mantis cloak long as always but a thicker material. White fur lined on the hood for additional warmth. Underneath the cloak was a long think white sweater, paired with black pants built for fast movement. Long brown combat boots that reached his calves . The fashionable magic knight couldn't come out with some kind of accessory. A gold and silver bracelet on his right wrist, and a matching pair of necklaces graced his neck. Not to much, but it was there. It seemed recently the fire mage was getting back into old habits His other items always on hand, his lantern secured to his belt strap behind him as always. His silver staff Hino resting on his shoulder.
Valo using his mana tether to his golem controlled it to fly lower into the city, of course controlled to no hit anything or anyone. Even in a world full of magic some people were still kind of surprised to see a white long dragon just flying in the air. He arrived at the desired location, he was to meet a local nobleman at his estate so he could get the info needed on this mission. The noble's estate was large, and a big enough entrance for Valo to land his golem. On the ground there seemed to be a man in a black suit waiting for him, a butler perhaps. The man in black signaled for Valo to come on down, maybe this was the guy he was supposed to meet.
Valo landed his golem and hopped off, now getting a good look at this man in black. He dressed like a butler, before Valo could get a word out the man called out. "You must be Valo Stark. From Green Mantis correct?" he said looking Valo up and down, his expressions didn't give off to much so Valo didn't really know what to expect, but he did respond. "Yeah I'm Valo. Who are you? The noble I'm supposed to meet?" the fire mage asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh no no no. I'm Kenpi. I just serve Master Makino. He regrets being to busy to meet with you in person. His deepest apologies. These festive times he tries to spend some time with family, when not tied up with work. " Kenpi answered Valo.
"Yeah yeah. It doesn't really matter. As long as I get the info on where these bandits are located so I can stop em." Valo replied cracking his neck, stepping closer to Kenpi realizing he kind of towered over the butler. He's probably been growing taller without realizing it.
Kenpi looked a little and then smiled. "Ah straight to the work, I like that! The city of Kiten has been infested with bandits and thieves for a few months now. While we can't pin point an exact location, most of their attacks happen closer to noble homes now. They have been getting much bolder and confident as of late. But still their attacks and theft happen mostly to the young women in the shopping districts. They also have a leader who the city guards have failed to capture numerous times. Oh by the way, not doubting your abilities but is it just you for this mission? " Kenpi answered the Green Mantis knight and followed it with a question of his own.
Valo turned around and hopped right back on his golem, that was enough info for now he thought. He was probably going to get the most of it from a bandit directly. "Mmmm. Simple enough. Thanks. And yeah I'm more than enough for some bandit attacks." Valo replied a hint of his cockiness in his tone. Not wasting anytime he flew off towards the shopping district to see what he could find.
BATTLE: Speed = 15 m/s. Valo met with the butler of the noble named Kenpi, gathered info that the bandits have been attacking and robbing in the shopping district lately. Their numbers increasing along with their confidence, targeting helpless civilians and mostly women.

The blue-haired femme kept her eyes down low, hurrying towards the shopping districts. Her intended destination was not in any of the clothes shops. No, she had heard that there was a used book sale held in that area, and that it was there only for that day. Hence why she was hurrying down the main streets without a glance to her left or right. The bookworm side of her had never really changed, even though the young woman had changed quite a bit in the past year.
Ever since she had fully cut her ties with the Witches’ Forest and moved to the Common Region, Suna had never felt more alive. It also helped that she had not been alone, as the sound mage had met many who supported her along the way. They have trained and shaped her into what she was today, and she never forgot any one of those encounters. Even now, as she hurried down the streets of this fortified city, memories flooded her mind.
The first time she was here in Kiten, it was on a covert spy mission with her mentor Lydia Ravencrest. The vice captain had wanted to mentally train her by navigating through a tricky situation with quick thinking and acting. It had been a short mission, as she had passed with flying colors. But of course, the glass mage had ended it by having her run all the way back to the Crimson Lion base. It was all part of her training, and Suna still had a ways to go before she was truly strong. But at least she was not as weak as when she first started, compared to a year ago. Ever since that mission, she had not visited the town...until today.
As she hurried down the streets, Suna tried not to draw too much attention to herself. There was always the leery gazes of lecherous men she had to avoid, and for once, wished she had some sort of transformation magic to give her a more plain appearance. Her hair always stood out too much, and her elvish heritage certainly did not help matters any. Perhaps she should buy a cloak to mask her features from one of those shops...
Then she heard something out of place.
Suna had jolted to a stop, blue eyes swiftly darting around her surroundings. Her elvish ears swiveled around, alert. The streets were busy with activity, but she thought she heard a muffled cry somewhere. But she did not see anything out of the ordinary. Was that just her imagination or—
Another cry. Louder this time. Immediately, the elf rushed towards the direction where she heard the sound of distress, dodging the other civilians on the streets. Was she the only one who heard that cry? It sounded more like a scream, and it made her blood freeze. She could feel a scattering of moving mana signatures up ahead, near the shady alleys. Blue aura swirled around her, but she did not cast anything yet, not until she was certain her mind was not just going on overdrive. Just as a precaution, she slowed her steps, senses on high alert.
Then she caught a flash of movement, a trace of a fluttering white dress disappearing into the shadows between the buildings. There! She glanced around quickly and frowned. Nobody seemed to have noticed anything amiss, only her. Her gut feelings told her that something was wrong, and she was determined to find out what it was. She reached out with her senses, attempting to figure out just how many people were there in this particular alley. After a moment, she bit down on her bottom lip. There were at least four mana signatures. If one was an innocent civilian, could she handle the other three, whoever they were?
Time to find out.
The sound mage hummed softly, calling out her harp. Whatever it was up ahead, she was not going to go in unprepared...

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
The fire mage rode on top on his white dragon golem mashiro, scoping out the town to see if he can spot anything strange. This kind of job would be a lot easier if he had some actual good sensory to use. His sensory was average at best if not below that probably, tracking, making illusions wasn't really his strength as a mage. While for the most part this was fine for him, it was times like these he wished he was better at it. Or at least partnered up with someone that specializes in it. He remembered certain sensory mages being able to create maps of entire cities and towns, such a spell would be really useful right now.
But this thought led Valo to something else, something he could use other than sensory. He remembered his old mentor back in Kikka mentioning Ki a few times, but at the time his ignorant brain didn't really listen to what she had to say about it. But Artemis came to mind she was a master of Ki and all if it's usage. The spars they had they Valo never managed to land one hit on her now matter how creative he got, it was mostly thanks to her ki. She was able to track things effortlessly, now matter how fast and how close. Almost as if she could see things coming before it happened. He remembered she also used it to track things when they were on missions. Since his natural sensory through means of mana was no good, perhaps he could start making use of ki instead. And he knew the perfect person to ask about it, Genesis. The red head used Ki quite often and looked like she was improving it everyday. He made a mental note, and got his mind back on the mission at hand.
Then it could be heard.
A cry of help! He kept his golem flying low using the little sensory he had, a just his natural eye sight to try and spot where the bandits might be. The good thing was he had a bird's eye view of alley ways and thins alike. He increased the speed of his golem flying towards the general direction of where he heard the screams, he saw a white dress being snagged away and moved between buildings. That had to be them! The bandits! "There you are." Valo said finally getting a good eye at the highwaymen. Moving in closer to the scene, he got a good look seeing three bandits trying to capture an innocent women dressed in white. "Time to move."
Using the buildings as cover, he had his golem land on top of one. Keeping his presence hidden, he was confident he could take on three with him alone. But why give up the opportunity for a surprise attack. He looked over and got a scope of the scene, three bandits each one with grimoires attached to their hips. Considering the rumors they all could use magic, and weren't amateurs either. There was one bandit that was a few feet away from the other two, one had the white dressed damsel over his shoulder and last one right beside him teasing their capture.
His silver staff in his right hand, he aimed it to the other furthest from the others "Hino...Zoka." he said simply activating the ability of his silver staff to extend it's length at fast speeds. The extension itself was so fast it could be used as an attack, having the staff slam right into the bandit's back and causing him to crash into some trash knocking him out creating a loud crash.
The sudden attack left the remaining two bandits stunned, at what just happened. They would only see a long silver bo staff that came from ontop of a building, the length had to be at least 25 meters long. Valo used his mana tether to control his golem floating down to the ground. "Why don't you put her down now." Valo said standing on top of his white long dragon.
BATTLE: Speed = 18 m/s. Valo flying ontop of his golem, getting a birds eye view spotted a women in white being snatched and heard her screams. Following the scene he took out one bandit using his staff, and demand the other two let the women go.

All of her senses were on high alert. While she may not have the best sensory, Suna was an elf, and she was naturally more attuned to her surroundings then most. Of course, it was only if she was consciously concentrating, and that was what she was doing now.
Her harp was already formed, but her sound magic has not been activated. Instead, her aura magic shifted, forming two of her magical Coda swords. They hovered next to her shoulders, leaving her hands free to play on her harp. Now properly armed, she could proceed. It was a slightly strange sight, a normal civilian casting offensive weapons in the middle of the city, but Suna did not care, not when there were cries for help. And feminine at that, too. She knew how harsh and dark the world could be, especially in the world dominated by men. But her witch upbringing had taught her some things, and she would be using that mentality today.
The blue-haired woman took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for whatever she may see once she was in that dark alley. Her hands stood poised, hovering right above the strings, ready to be plucked at a moment’s notice.
And in she went.
Her eyes quickly adjusted to the dim lighting, and immediately landed onto the woman dressed in white. But she was not alone. She was tossed over her captor’s shoulder, one was taunting her, and the other was saying something to the other two about meeting up with the others. Suna tucked that information to her mind for later. Three men. That was more enemies than she expected, but no matter. There have been worse odds than this.
Suna crept closer to them, her fingers already softly gathering her magic together. Rallentando. The beginning of her playing was so soft, it was easily drowned in the usual city noises. That allowed her sound magic to shoot up and wrap themselves around two of the men’s legs, one of them being the captor with the female.
"Hey! Someone’s there!"
Oh no. They see her. Unfortunately, she could only concentrate on binding those two. The one not affected looked at her and guffawed loudly.
"Pwsh it’s only another woman! Easy meat."
"But I can’t move!"
"Shut yer yappin’! Seriously, you’re useless..." That man was facing her now, grimoire glowing. "Come to play with us, sweetie? We’ll show ya a real good time!"
Suna ignored the innuendo. She was just about to send out of her Coda swords spirling towards that third one, if there was not a sudden thud! right in the middle of the alley.
A long silver staff.
It had hit the third man right on the back, and he toppled over and dropped face down to the ground. Suna did not have to glance again to know that the unlucky guy had been knocked out. But what in the world? Where did that thing come from? Her eyes shot upwards to where the strange weapon had come from. So did the other two bandits.
"Why don't you put her down now."
She knew that mana signature. She knew that voice. "Valo." She murmured. But she did not recognize the white dragon golem that was now so elegantly descending into the dark alleyway. The sheer size of it nearly filled up the entire space, and likely blocked off one entire side.
"What the hell!" The man cursed. It was the one who was not carrying the woman, and his grimoire was glowing. "I don’t care who you are! You’re paying for making us late!" The earth trembled slightly as a sword was formed from the dirt on the ground. Then he turned and launched it at her.
Without a second thought, Suna sent one of her magical swords towards the man in response. The two magical swords clashed in mid-air, both shattering upon impact. So they were on the same level. Immediately, the elf grabbed the other sword that was hovering by her side and jumped for him. She swung it at him, but her swing was too wide and the man easily dodged.
He leapt back, and was now summoning a bunch of earthen bricks and was chucking them at her. The elf cut through most of them, advancing steadily as she did so. As soon as she was close enough, she lunged for him, bringing the flat of her blade across his temple, successfully knocking him out. The man dropped down on the ground, down on his knees, then fell face down.
"Don’t move!"
She had forgotten about the one with the captive. Suna turned and looked on in horror as the bandit pressed an earth-made knife against the woman’s throat. The poor girl’s eyes were wide with fear and terror, and her mouth was open...but she made no sound. Not with a blade pressed against her throat.
"Don’t move!" The bandit repeated again, a sly and dark smirk on his face. Somehow, he had broken through Suna’s restraints, and was now slowly backing out of the alley. "Take a step towards me and she dies!"

"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
As Valo was descending down, atop of his white golem dragon he sensed a familiar mana signature traced it and it led to a familiar face. Blue long hair and pointy ears, a innocent but focused look on her face. Suna. An elf he met which now seemed like so long ago, she was one of the last people he expected to see here and now. With Hinokagutsuchi in his right hand, he tapped it twice with his index finger shortening the really long silver staff back to it's proper size of a six feet long pole. "Suna!?" Valo said out loud as he descended genuinely surprised to see her.
But now wasn't the time for reintroductions and catching up, Valo's focus quickly went back to the matter at hand focusing on the two bandits that were left. He was able to take out one with a surprise attack, leaving two...or so he thought. Suna wasted no time engaging him in a fight, she had two swords floating at her shoulders. "Did she always use swords?" Valo asked himself quietly, while watching her fight. There was something different about her, it looked like she had grown a lot. Not as timid as she was before, not afraid to jump into the action. A smirk was on the fire mages face, without him even realizing it.
But the situation turned for the worst, when Suna finished off the bandit she was facing. The one holding the innocent women in all white, had an earth made dagger at her throat. Her face was in shock and she was obviously terrified, something had to be done and before it was to late.
"Take a step towards me and she dies!" the bandit shouted as he started to back away exiting the alleyway. He was nervous and now getting desperate. Valo's golem had descended enough for him to reach the ground, he lightly walked off his hands visible his silver staff still in his right hand though. "I said not another step!" the bandit shouted again at Valo and Suna.
Valo had a stern and focused look on his face, but relaxed. He was calm and had a full grasp of the situation and solid idea on how to get out of it. Now was not the time for any brash decisions or movements, but luckily for Valo he didn't have to move at all. Valo put his arms up to show he was no threat to the bandit right now, his silver staff still in his right hand but the front end point aimed directly at the bandit. Valo's hand was so sleight it was easy not to notice. "Alright buddy, no ones moving. Let her go and you can get out of this." Valo said to the badit, giving him a final warning.
"Eerrrr. no. No! I'm gonna leave with her! and You two can't do nothing about it!" he replied pressing the earth made dagger, closer to her throat. Valo still calm slightly turned his wrist, leaving both arms up. As soon as his shot was lined up, he would take it. "Okay as long as you can guarantee her. Zoka." Valo said plainly, his last word activating his weapon's ability. Hinokagutsuchi extended once more at a really fast speed, the end of the staff hitting the bandit right in his forehead with enough force to knock him out, and send him back just a few feet onto the main street. In the next moment Valo shortened his weapon back to it's traditional size, and ran up to secure the innocent women from any more harm.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked quickly, checking for any injuries. She had tears in her eyes, she was panicked but it looked like for now she was beginning to calm down. Being captured by bandits like that, and then having a knife to your throat could do a lot to a person. Valo rubbed her arm and helped her to her feet.
"No no I'm fine. Thank You! Thank You so much! Both of you!" she thanked them with the utmost sincerity in her voice.
Valo smiled in return, "It's nothing. A guard should escort you home safely." Valo said as he saw some townsgaurd heading over to the scene, to arrest the knocked out bandits. One of them nodded, and placed a hand on the young women's shoulder to take her home. Valo nodded at the guards his Green Mantis cloak and mantle would be enough to show them he was an ally, and here to get rid of these bandits.
"We have other guards posted around the town, keeping a sharp watch as these bandit attacks get more serious. Thank you for assisting us Magic Knight. Sir does she need escorting as well?" the guard asked pointing at Suna. Valo turned towards her, and waved off the idea.
"No no! She's...uuhhhh my assistant. A...knight in training on the field with me. She'll be joining me in taking care of the bandits, no no need to worry." Valo replied his words obviously being made up on the fly. What the guard didn't see was Valo's hand behind his back, holding a thumbs up in Suna's line of sight.
"Very good. I'll report to Master Makino and let you continue the mission." the guard said as his men started to arrest the three bandits and bring them in.
With that done, Valo finally turned towards Suna. "Since when did you become a wicked sword wielder!?" he asked her suddenly, excitement in his voice. He was happy to see a friend again, especially one he hadn't seen in quite some time. He remembered one of his very first missions was with the blue haired elf. Escorting a trader and his cart of tomatoes, way back when he was just a greenhorn in Green Mantis. The two had probably changed so much since then, Valo knows he did. Valo had a wide genuine smile on his face. "And your magic it looks like it has gotten much much stronger!" Valo said aloud.
"Ah sorry sorry. I'm getting ahead of myself. Suna it is so good to see you again." Valo said to her with a wide smile.
BATTLE: Speed = 18 m/s. Valo used his staff's ability to extend it and knock out the bandit quickly. Guards came over to the escort the innocent women home, and arrest the bandits. Valo started to bombard Suna with quesions!

Suna had heard her name being called from above, and knew that he, too, had recognized her. What were the odds of them meeting here? The last time was at the Spirit Ball, but they did not really get a chance to chat. And the time before that...was a long while ago, when they first met on the road to Sosshi.
She had come a long way from the timid soul who shied away at hurting a small mana beast. They had both grown, as she saw in his fighting style. He has changed as well, and had a new weapon that she had never really seen in action before. Well, there was one thing that had not changed, and that was his confidence. It was in the way he carried himself and in the way he talked. Almost cocky, if she dared go that far. Even the way he addressed the third bandit showed the level of confidence, though it seemed like the enemy had the upper hand.
The sound mage stared at the captive woman, trying to reassure her of her safety with her eye contact. They would get her out of this alive. She would make sure of it. Now as for that bandit… Her reassuring gaze turned hard. How dare he. But as Valo was already addressing and advancing towards him, she stayed quiet. She clenched tighter onto her Coda sword when the bandit again called out his warning. He was getting desperate, and Suna feared that he would commit a reckless action that might actually harm the innocent civilian.
They were exchanging words, and then the silver staff from Valo suddenly shot out, expanding in length and hitting the bandit straight on the forehead. It was strong enough to knock the man out, and as it did, the earth-made knife dissipated. As soon as that happened, Suna had jumped towards the woman, catching her before she fell to the ground.
"You’re safe now," she murmured. The poor soul must be frightened out of her wits, but at least she did not faint. That would have been troublesome. Valo was also there, helping the other female up. Guards from the town have arrived at the scene. Suna did not know how, but they were there and handling the unconscious bandits already.
"We have other guards posted around the town, keeping a sharp watch as these bandit attacks get more serious. Thank you for assisting us, Magic Knight. Sir, does she need escorting as well?"
"No, I’m fine." Suna replied automatically. At the same time, Valo had said the same thing. She raised an eyebrow at the questionable explanation, but did not protest, not when she saw his thumbs up behind his back. As soon as the alley had been cleared out and all the currently defeated bandits taken care, she breathed a sigh of relief. But her momentary calm was short-lived, as the fire mage was now all excited about what she had done earlier in battle.
She gave him a little shrug and smile. "Uh, since I started training with my mentor?" With a flick of her wrist, she waved her sword away, blue aura magic dissipating into the air. "My sound magic usually needs some time to set up and has its limitations. My aura is much faster, and I needed something I can use to fight in tight spots, like today." More times than not, the sight of a sword was usually enough to make her enemies step back. The occasions when she actually got to put it into good use were few and far in between, and usually only against mana beasts or some strange creatures.
"But I’m still far from knowing how to use it well, though." She admitted. It was one thing learning how to wield a sword in practice and in training. It was quite another when used in real skirmishes. To date, this was only her second time using her swords against enemies that were not mana beasts.
Suna laughed a little at how enthusiastic he was being. "Good to see you again, too! I’ve been well. How about you, Valo? How has the Green Mantis squad been treating you?" Then she tilted her head slightly, eyeing the silver staff that had caught her attention. "I see that your magic has gotten stronger as well, and I’ve never seen a staff like that before. What’s it called? May I see it?" She was curious as to what it was exactly and what it could do. From the outside, it looked fairly harmless, but after seeing it in action, she knew not to undermine its innocent looks.
"By the way, I heard the bandits earlier saying that they’re meeting up with the others. I’m guessing that there’s a whole group of them." She tapped her chin thoughtfully, then reached for her broom. "Since those guards responded so quickly, I assume that you’re here to deal with those bandits? I’m guessing that they wouldn’t be too far away, but do you have an idea of where they might be?"

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
"A mentorrr?" Valo asked with a bit of intrigue in his voice, the blue haired elf found a mentor to get stronger. Valo was just curious who this person was that was training Suna in the ways of close combat. Then he remembered who he saw her with that day at the Spirit Ball, a friend of his actually Hans! For the energetic fire mage it was only common sense to try and put the two together. "Aahh! Is Hans your mentor? He's a really good swordsman. You could probably learn a lot from him." Valo added rubbing his chin, remembering how the mercenary used his weapons.
Valo continued to listen intently as Suna continued to explain the differences in her magic, sound was much slower compared to pure aura. So they balanced each other out very well, Valo always remembered Suna's magic being very unique and rare. But he was just now realizing how special of a mage she really was. To be able to wield two extremely rare elements and used them not only in tandem but as an anchor for one another. Valo couldn't help but impressed by the blue haired elf, a small smile was on his lips. Suna has really grown!
"Stop being so modest! I'm sure you can kick some major ass with those sword skills!" Valo replied to her comment. Suna then started asking the fire mage about himself and his squad and things alike. A lot has happened recently if the Green Mantis Magic knight had to be honest, he found himself being tested and challenged a lot lately. The loss of a mentor, the loss of close family, other things that Valo would never forget and changed him greatly. Kikka. But Valo's core drive would never break nor falter, if it did he would be letting the ones that believed in him down. And that was not an option.
"I've been...I've been pretty good. There have been lots of challenges and changes recently. But sometimes I've learned change can be for the good, and challenges were meant to be overcome. And we all grow stronger for it." Valo said trying to put where his head was at now into words, at least he tried the best way he could. But then a sly smirk appeared on his face. "I'll be applying to become the Vice Captain of Green Mantis very soon." he was proud to say those words out loud.
Suna then asked about his weapon, Hinokagutsuchi. On the outside just a simple looking silver staff that was about six feet tall. But as she probably seen it was much more than a simple staff. Valo was quite fond of his weapon, he now never left the base without it. He did one twirl with the weapon using his fingers and held it out for Suna to take hold of. "This is Hinokagutsuchi. Or Hino for short. It has an interesting ability when just a little of heated mana is applied it can grow at some pretty fast speeds." He lightly tapped the silver staff with his finger, and the silver staff grew from six feet to ten feet in a instant.
The blue haired elf then brought up the matter at hand, finding the rest of the bandits. Valo didn't have exact locations of where these guys liked to hide at, he just knew shopping district which they were in right now. Valo's eyes widened and he smacked his forehead, how could he forget to ask the bandits where the other allies were. "Aahhh we should ask them before it's to late..." Valo said his voice trailing off as he turned his head and saw the towns guards and the bandits were gone a little to quickly. "Something's not right." he said running to the side of the street and out of the alley way. Using his mental connection to his golem, he had the white long dragon take the to sky and try to spot the guards. After a moment it pointed it's snout to the right. "Suna we should get moving." Valo said taking off running in that direction.
His golem flying in the air acting as a scout in the air, and Valo on ground running a decent pace, not his full speed but fast enough. "I can't believe I didn't notice it before hand, but those guards may not have been actual guards." Valo said with a serious tone, after running in that direction the duo would find a silver helmet on the ground, next to a chest piece of the armor the guards were wearing. Valo grabbed the helmet "Tch. Damn." Valo's thoughts were interrupted with the loud puff coming from his golem in the air, its snout once again pointing to the left. This time next to a large shop that looked quite suspicious.
Valo looked in that direction he could see them, three bandits next to a large earth structure resembling a large rhino. Three of the bandits Suna and Valo knocked out already were passed out on the construct, along with the innocent girl in all white. "Found ya." he said loud enough for the three bandits to hear, they turned their heads disappointment and feat written all over their faces.
"You moron you led em straight to us!" one shouted towards another. Taking off his fake helmet. "We would have gotten away, if you didn't get so hot and drop your gear off back there!"
"Aaaahhhh shut up! We can take em, they ain't so tough looking! Plus now we really outnumber em! Come on out boys!" one bandit shouted out loud, causing two more to walk out the store grinning from ear to ear. Now there was five of them, blocking Suna and Valo from getting to the girl.
Valo with a grin over his face as well, he didn't look worried in the least bit. His grimoire floating by his side glowing a feint red and blue color, about to activate a spell. "Suna how many people can you slow down now?" he asked remembering the last time they fought bandits together she was able to slow their movements for Valo to pummel them. Knowing she would get the idea to do the same at the very moment.

Masshiro is able to use it's arms, claws, feet, tail, horns, jaws and it's entire body to attack whatever Valo directs it too. At Valo’s question of her having a mentor, Suna nodded. "Aye, I’ve been learning how to fight in close combat from my mentor." She was going to continue on with who it is, but held her tongue when Valo injected with his own take. "Hans?" She colored slightly at the name, but shook her head. "Oh, he’s not my mentor. But yes, he is an excellent swordsman." She herself has seen the dark mage in action many times. But now she wondered how Valo came to that conclusion. It must have been because he saw the two together at the Spirit Ball. That was the only reasoning she could think of, unless he has heard of something she did not know about.
The elf ducked her head modestly, and tried to wave away the praise. She may have grown, but there was still much that she needed to work on. "I’ve been learning from Lydia Ravencrest. I think you would know of her? She’s the vice captain of the Crimson Lions." She watched his expression carefully, wondering what he knew about her, if anything. "I’ve learned much from her, but I’m afraid I am not quite the type of student she usually has." A light laugh. While Lydia was ruthless and focused, this blue-haired elf was prone to emotional sways and fatigue. The more she trained under the glass mage, the more Suna realized that she was not fit for the fiery squad...
"I'll be applying to become the Vice Captain of Green Mantis very soon."
"Vice captain? Congratulations!" Her blue eyes lit up. "That must mean you’re really strong now. Does that mean you will be going for the captain’s position after that?" Then she listened as he explained more about his staff, and demonstrated the lengthening ability. It was impressive, and showed just how much he has grown in these few months. Well, almost a year, actually, since the first time they met.
But now, she had to ask. "How do you know Hans?" She inquired. "He said you two met during...Kikka?" The last word she said with some hesitance. Charles and Hans were two whom she knew that gone through that shadowy experience, and both have come out deeply affected. The last thing she would want to do was to trigger something in this fire mage. That would not do, especially when they were still in the middle of capturing some bandits. Or, in his case, an actual mission.
He had a point. They should ask the bandits for information. Unfortunately, the town's guards had taken the captured criminals away already. Most guards she knew were not that fast... Regardless, she only nodded and kept pace with Valo as he sprinted towards the direction that the guards had gone. He had said something, but she only caught the first half of it. Something about not noticing something? She noted that he kept his white dragon golem flying above them, kind of like a scout. Then they came upon a helmet, then more armor pieces on the ground. Why would a guard be shedding and throwing his armor on the ground like that?
"Oh..." Realization dawned on her. The guards had moved too fast, too quickly to be real ones. So that must be what Valo had said earlier. Her eyebrows furrowed as they stopped in front of a large shop. There was a large earth statute nearby, and she saw movement behind it. Ah, the guards. The fake guards.
Blue eyes darkened. How dare they dupe her. "How dare you..." She said underneath her breath, towards the bandits but it was too soft for anyone to hear. Blue magic was already swirling around the sound mage, who realized that she had been tricked. Valo had shouted out, and as the men turned, she saw the same woman in white again. The poor girl, from one pair of dirty hands to the other. Suna felt a little guilty and chastised, handing the woman off so quickly without checking if the guards were the real deal or not. But she would make sure they all paid for their little cheap stunt.
The bandits, seeing the two mages again, decided to just give up on their disguises and stood between their fallen comrades and the woman. Two more men walked out of the store, and to Suna’s dismay, turned out to also be bandits. They were grinning...and overly confident. But not for long. She had hummed for her harp, already in her hand, and her fingers already moving.
"Suna how many people can you slow down now?"
Her eyes quickly swept through the enemies. There were five of them. "Enough." Ritenuto. Without another word, her music magic washed towards the wall of enemies, catching three of the bandits. "All yours, Valo!" Even if he did not focus on those three, she would take care of them before they could even get close enough to harm her.
Suna’s eyes narrowed. She was not one to kindly take to being duped. And now that she had power, she was not so helpless anymore, and would ensure that others were not going to be taken advantage of either. Training with Lydia had not only passed on some skill, but also mentality towards fighting. Gone was the naive and timid soul. In its place was someone who was more proactive in defending the innocents.
Rallentando. The two bandits closest to them lunged for her, but they found themselves tripping over their own feet, which was now held firmly in place to the ground with thick strands of sound magic. They howled in rage, but quickly regained their balance. They started forming weapons out of earth magic, but the femme did not even blink at them, only dodged swiftly when they started throwing a flurry of knives towards her direction. She has had worse things thrown at her.
Then she started to feel some...wind? From a distance, she spied a figure surrounded by a mini tornado, making their way towards them. Who was that?

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Although the duo had to rush to find the highwaymen that got away, Valo didn't forget Suna's answer to his question. She was being trained by Lydia Ravencrest! The vice captain of the Crimson Lions, a big name on Valo's list of figures. Valo remembered his last 'fight' with Lydia, it ended with her sword being pointed at his neck. A cocky grin on his face, saying he was looking forward to their next spar. Valo still felt the same way, Lydia was still stronger than him right now. But he was now much stronger than he was back then, but it was still to early for that fight.
Valo appreciated her comments about his Vice Captain comment, he was pretty strong. But not strong enough. He still needed to push more, a lot more in fact. If he was going to be the Captain of the Green Mantis Squad one day. She then asked about how he knew Hans, and mentioned that Hans said they met in Kikka. Which was true thats when they did meet, randomly in Kikka. A lot happened in that town, especially when they went back. Almost to much to comment on, maybe Hans shared all of the information with Suna. Maybe he didn't, whatever it was it was his decision and Valo was going to respect it.
As Suna casted her spells, restraining and slowing down all the bandits. He placed his silver staff on the ground standing up, he has yet to use his actual fists yet which was his preferred method to fighting. "Sorry bout earlier...but yeah me and Hans met in Kikka...we went through a lot together. Now he's like a..." Seeing how far Suna's restraint magic had come was magnificent to watch, she really wasn't just that timid girl anymore. She was powerful mage by her own right! These were some powerful restraint spells, and she was using them with ease! Not only were they significantly slowed down, but they were taking some damage as well. "Suna! You've gotten a lot stronger!" Valo said with excitement.
Of course the fire mage wasted no time rushing in, with Suna's magic in effect this brawl would be a breeze for the fire mage. Using his increased speed he was able to plant a solid punch to the face of his first bandit under the effect of Suna's Rallentando, and quickly followed it up with another punch to his gut. The damage from his punches and Suna's spell was enough to put him down, Valo followed that up instantly by weaving to his next target caught in the same spell. An elbow to his solar plexus, made him start to fall face first Valo would help him out by landing a fast and powerful axe kick to the back of his head knocking him out as well. Sāto no ken Kyōka
Valo's grimoire glew a feint blue color, activating a spell. Two seven foot blade made of blue flame and heat were hovering right next to him, ready to be of use. There was no handle on these swords as he never wielded them in his hand, but he did have his own unique way of using them. This was pretty dangerous spell that required precise direction for it not to be lethal on human opponents. But Valo did not want to risk using a big fire attack in the town, this spell used more condensed and precise flames.
Three long spears made of pure earth rock and soil, started to make its way towards Valo. But it's speeds were slow and Valo was to fast, he was able to easily dodge and weave around them while moving for the strikes. Using his right hand he flick his arm forward with an open palm, sending one heated blade forward for a slash, it hit but only slashed through the bandits fake armor. With a flick of Valo's fingers the blade on it's blunt side hit the bandits lower back like a hot spank! Causing the bandit to lie down and tear up in pain.
For the next bandit, Valo kicked with his left leg sending the blue heated blade spinning right towards it's target. The bandit's slow speed and obvious fear caused him to tremble while attempting to make a spell. The blunt side of Valo's blue blade just simply smacked his forehead knocking him out, a scuff smirk coming from Valo. There was one more bandit that Valo did not forget about, the same smirk on his face as he knew the criminal was behind him. The bandit had a large earth made hammer in his hand, and swung it down aiming to crush the Green Mantis magic knight. The large blow was easily avoided by Valo by just stepping to his side. "I didn't forget about you." he said simply with a grin on his face. A powerful punch was landed right in the bandit's gut, causing him kneel over passed out. His Sāto no ken Kyōka spell, not only gave him powerful blades to use, but it also highly increased his strength.
With all the bandits defeated Valo quickly went over to the captured women. She was still in a frightened state, but her breathing was beginning to ease down. "Hey..hey what's your name? You're safe now. " Valo asked her reaching out his hand for her to take. She hesitated at first but eventually took it. "L-Lisa! Please don't let them take me again! Please!" she started to cry out. "Lisa I'm sorry this had to happen to you, but I promise you they won't be bothering you again." Valo said to reassure her. Valo turned his head back to Suna, whatever that mini tornado was. She was probably engaged with it, he just kept his eyes out if she needed any assistance.
BATTLE: Speed = 18 m/s. Valo took down the five bandits and helped the damsel in distress. He turned to face Suna and if she needed any assistance he would be ready. But he doubted it xP

"...but yeah me and Hans met in Kikka...we went through a lot together. Now he's like a..."
Suna heard his words, as well as his praise, but was too intent on casting her restraining spells to formulate a proper response...for now. Rallentando had caught the two in the front, and Ritenuto the three in the back. As she expected, the fire mage had gone in, landing a solid punch on the first bandit’s face and elbowed the second one into unconsciousness. Two down.
Then she saw the other’s grimoire glow in a bluish hue, and two flaming blades formed beside him. It was very similar to her Coda spell, though her swords were much smaller and had handles so she is able to wield them by hand if so wished. But she needed to concentrate on keeping the other three bandits down. Unfortunately, Ritenuto was a weaker spell, and she struggled to keep her bonds on them. The bandits had started to form long spears, and three of them were launched at the male mage. Thankfully, Valo was quick, and before she knew it, two were down on the ground...
"Watch out!" The third was behind the Green Mantis knight, and was about to bring his giant earthen hammer down on the unsuspecting target. Well, not unsuspecting, as Valo stepped to the side and quickly punched his lights out.
As soon as she was sure the five bandits were down and not moving, she quickly ran over to the poor woman. But Valo had beat her to it, so she stood to the side. "I’m sorry..." The elf said softly. She still felt a little guilty for handing the woman off to some random guards without verifying that the guards were real or not.
"Please," Lisa turned her tear-filled eyes back up to the two. "Don't let them kidnap anyone else..."
"They won't. We’ll find them all and make sure they never bother anyone again..." The sound mage nodded reassuringly, just as she felt an unnatural breeze far off in the distance. It was strong, and coming their way. The figure within the mini tornado walked boldly, confidently. Was he the leader or something? From the terrified look on the shaking woman’s face and how she shrank behind the two mages, it must be.
Unfortunately, Suna had no means of defense, so it would be best to strike quick and fast. As she ran towards the wind user, blue aura formed into her two Coda swords, so that they hovered beside the femme. With a flick of her wrist, she sent one of her magical swords spirling towards the bandit leader.
However, the whirlwind around him acted like a shield, forcefully blowing away her sword and rendering it useless.
"Well, well," A guttural, mocking laugh. "Why is a little lady wandering around throwing swords at people? I’m surprised my men haven’t picked you up yet."
Suna frowned, but held her tongue. Now that she was closer, she could see that her enemy was tall, just as tall as Valo, if not taller. He looked aged and experienced, and furthermore, he was not even walking on the ground. Instead, he was hovering over the ground, supported up by his wind magic.
Just as she was taking all of this in, he sent two strings of wind towards her direction, and instinctively, she ducked to avoid those sharp gusts. Ranged attacks, so she could not get close to him and fight him melee like what she did with the rest of those bandits in the alley. Different enemy, different tactics.
"Well? Are you going to play then, lonely girl?" The whirling wind seemed to expand, and he hovered from side to side effortlessly...as if he was actually riding on the wind. "Might be fun until my men get here..."
"They’re all down, and I’m not alone." Suna finally responded, and was more than a little pleased to see the man’s expression change to one of shock and disbelief. Using that moment of surprise, the flowing aura around her suddenly shot towards him, enclosing him in a semi-dome. Quickly, she released her sound magic within it. Her sound waves ricocheted within the closed area, attempting to slow and hamper his movements, as well as stop him from casting any more spells.
Was it successful? Was it enough to knock him down? She held her breath, waiting.
A figure came crawling out, dark fury on his face.
Apparently not.
The bandit leader was shouting all sorts of obscenities at her, and started raising his palms, his yellow grimoire glowing. He fired two more gusts of wind her way, one that caught her and knocked her back. An interesting defense, but that gave her an idea.
Suna formed her Crescendo ring, and with a cry, threw it at the man. As soon as her magical ring made contact with its target, it expanded in an aura burst, knocking the wind mage back and throwing him off balance. Then, before he could get his wind shield up again, she sent her other sword towards him, specifically aiming at his legs.
The elf winced as she saw her blade slice through his calf, making him double over at the sudden pain. Then the wind spell supporting him suddenly dissipated, and he fell in an ungraceful heap down to the ground. She could see him attempting to crawl away, even with a wound on his leg. She called her aura sword back to her and swung the flat of her blade against the retreating man’s head. A low thud, and he lay motionless at her feet.
"Sorry about that, but we can’t have you running away. Not until you’ve paid for all the harm you have done."

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo's attention was on Lisa the young girl they had just saved from the tricky bandits, making sure she wasn't hurt. From the looks of it she was fine physically, no scratches bruises or nothing. At most probably just a bit shaken up with everything that happened.
Valo wanted to punch himself for letting it happen, how could be so careless and clueless. He should know better by now then to make these kind of mistakes. While it was true he was getting more powerful, he still lacked in some areas. His main drawback being sensory, his overall sensory skills for a magic knight of his caliber were poor. If he wanted to be a Vice Captain of a squad his poor senses were not going to cut it. He needed to be able to see everything around him, and no longer be taken by surprise. No longer fall for trickery or illusions and other things of the nature. Valo was going to have to start learning the method of Ki.
The fire mage turned and his eyes focused on the incoming tornado of winds, the power coming off this man was a lot stronger than any of the bandits. Was this the leader of the group? Based on his words speaking to Suna he was. He was able to deflect one of her swords with a whirlwind of winds. He was strong and he liked to talk. He was throwing small verbal jabs at the blue haired elf but she did not budge or waver, she was tough and she was going to bring him down. Valo knew this without a doubt in his mind, this was her fight he was going to stand by in support if she needed it. But also guard Lisa just in case.
Suna was able to duck low and avoid his ranged wind attacks, he began to banter a little more. She responded stating that all of his men were defeated and she was in fact not alone. Valo smirked witnessing her confidence, she used the opening to trap the lead bandit in some kind of dome spell. It was a fascinating way to land an attack! She used her sound magic to bounce of the walls of the dome she mage, slowing not only him down but his magic as well! "Ohooh." Valo said watching from the rear, he was more than impressed with her displays of magic.
But it was not enough, the bandit managed to crawl out his face in a fury. Now he would start to launch powerful wing attacks at her, and one caught her! Valo's eyes narrowed concerned for her safety, but she rose up quickly putting all worries to rest. The fire mage knew she wasn't finished yet, she formed another spell this time a pretty ring. Without a second thought she tossed it at him, Valo pondered for a moment just what good would throwing a ring do? Then he saw why, the ring bounced off the bandits leader chest and caused a damaging explosion of blue aura energy! But it just threw him off balance, but her sequence of attacks weren't finished just yet. Using her own sword spell, that were similar to his own she flicked a wrist and sent the sword towards aimed at his legs! "Tssssss. Ouch." Valo said in response watching the attack land.
It was fair to say after that, she had won the fight. For good measure she swung the blunt side of her sword to smack him in the head knocking him out. "So thats the Azure Minstrell." Valo spoke her title that some people were beginning to know her as, he looked wildly impressed. She was probably as strong as a Vice Captain now. "Suna forget about me, when are you going to apply for a Vice Captain position." Valo joked.
Soon after the fight some guards showed up, before they could say anything Valo walked up to them and without asking took off one's helmet inspecting him. He looked him up and down rubbing his chin, and looked at the others. "Nope not trusting it again. Lisa we'll take you home."
One of the guards decided to speak up. "Apologies sir. We are aware of the bandits using guard uniforms as a disguise! We assure you that we are the towns guard of Kiten!" he said formally and in proper stance.
"Yea yea. If you aware arrest these men and put them behind bars. Send note to Makino and tell him the job is complete."
"Yessir!" they all said in unison, arresting all eight bandits and the leader.
Valo looked at Lisa then back to Suna. "Yeah they’re probably real this time. But still I'm pretty sure Suna doesn't mind, but we'll escort you home. Now would you like to fly." Valo said gesturing towards his long white dragon golem. "Or walk. Either is fine with me."
Lisa had a look of relief on her face, she looked towards Valo and then Suna. "Thank you, thank you. But after all this craziness, I wouldn't mind a nice stroll."
Valo would nod towards Suna, and then started walking right behind Lisa. He tossed his silver staff towards his golem. "Hold." which meant hold his weapon for the golem. Masshiro caught the silver staff in it's mouth lightly and would follow behind them. Valo placed both of his hands behind his neck and started to stroll along.
"Suna for the next time I get to fight the leader, and you can fight his minions. But never mind that, we can just do rock, paper, scissors. The real issue is why is someone like Lydia Ravencrest training you?! You know she owes me a proper fight one day, and I'm going to beat her. You can probably watch when it happens. But it's no rush, I need more time to prepare. I'll let you know the details. Anyways back to Hans though he's like a bro to me now, he's kind of quiet and mysterious like this other friend I have. They’re both like mysterious quiet people, but I trust them. You'd probably like my other friend her names Genesis, she can be kinda rough around the edges but she'll have your back no matter what. Anyways back to Hans. How do you know him? I remember seeing you two together at the Spirit Ball like months ago. But there was a lot going on around that time, sorry we didn't get to talk much. Captain Alyssa Lilygate of the Blue Roses she was giving me some much needed guidance I needed at the time...But anyways back to Hans. How do you know him again.?" The ever rambling and curious magic knight asked Suna, heading off with another completed mission under his belt. He didn't mean to ramble like he did, there was just so much to catch up on with the blue haired elf. He just didn't want to miss the chance to talk. He did keep asking about Hans though, kind of curious on how the two knew each other.

Masshiro is capable of flight, aiding Valo in the air as well. While it may not look as viscous as Valo's other golems it is just as strong, and aggressive. Masshiro is able to use it's arms, claws, feet, tail, horns, jaws and it's entire body to attack whatever Valo directs it too. When attacking it's jaws, claws, horns and tail are covered in flames causing at rank fire damage to whatever they hit. Masshiro can be used for transportation following the transportation guidelines for intermediate ranked golem spells. Carrying up to two people at a time moving at speeds of 10 m/s. They fully respond to commands given by it's user through a mana connection and also verbally.
Suna winced again when she saw the deep cut on the bandit leader’s legs. It was not a pretty sight, and it was from her own hand... But that was the only way she could think of at the moment to stop the man from running away. Despite all her power, there was still a little part of her that feared what she was becoming. The last thing she wanted was to get used to hurting others.
"Suna forget about me, when are you going to apply for a Vice Captain position."
"V-Vice captain?" The thought had never crossed her mind before, though she had thought about joining a Magic Knight squad before. "Don’t be silly." She waved a hand at the idea. "I don’t like fighting if I could avoid it," she admitted, then laughed lightly. "So I wouldn’t make a very good knight."
Then the group of guards showed up, and like the fire mage, Suna was hesitant to just hand Lisa over to them. However, Valo did take one’s helmet off to check, and they seemed legitimate enough, with their formalities and manners. But still, it seemed like they would personally escort the woman home, and the elf was all for it. The poor girl probably needed to slowly unwind from all that drama, and Suna had time for a short stroll around Kiten.
As the trio started walking, she watched as Valo threw his staff over to his dragon golem, and it held the silver rod in its mouth...kind of like an obedient dog. Suna hid a smile behind her hand. It was quite an adorable scene, really. But before she could comment on that, the knight started talking...and talking. Did he even need to breathe?
So many questions, but she did her best to remember most of them. "I don’t know why Lydia Ravencrest decided to train me," she answered honestly. "I just asked to watch her train, and she told me to get down there and fight her." And thus the unlikely relationship of a mentor and her trainee was born. "The real question is, why do you want to fight her?" But that question would have to be answered another time.
Then the topic turned to the dark mage, and the sound mage tilted her head, curious as to what the two men’s relationship was. But he also mentioned another friend, a quiet and mysterious woman. "It’s good to have people whom you trust." Especially during a fight, as she knew so well. As for the mercenary...
"Hans? Well..." Again, that light flush rose on her face. "He...he’s my...boyfriend..."

SPS super duper secret spoiler alert. This is actually the first time I've read a post from Valo in full. Now I know he's a WEEEEEEEEEEB. But honestly, the way the two played off another, as well as their fighting styles complimenting another; Valo's lax nature and creativeness and Suna's by the book style and earnestness make for a very good read. This is approved; admittedly had a scare and thought this was started this month till I double checked the dates.
You'll both get 2131 Yul, but Valo is also awarded 6 stars.
