[attr="class","florencetext"] As Noire and Yugo were making there way away from Lydia to keep out of her and harms way the raven haired girl would put out an arm to stop the white haired mage. After all her sensory was almost on par with Lydia's so she was able to sense the new foe before it even landed. As she looked over the thing it looked more like a living weapon rather than a mana beast or anything of the sorts. Not that it matter as it was blocking the path and it didn't seem like it would move if they just simply asked nicely. Noire however wasn't scared of the thing sure it might have had blades for arms and not have a head but that didn't mean she couldn't kill the thing. She would simply turn to Yugo while smiling. "It looks like this thing will have to go before we can move on. [break][break] You have to choices here you can let me fight it alone and try to make a break for it or you can stay and help me fight. It's really up to you. However if you stay and fight with me try to not get hit by the thing. If it cuts your head off or something I can't heal you." It seemed the thing wasn't really going to give Yugo a choice as it went right for him instead of Noire. However the general was quick to act casting a spell of her axe blade before blocking it's attack with her axe. She would then kick it back before running towards it swing her axe at it which it would manage to dodge. She however was quick with her follow up attack that hit it's side cutting it by not deep enough to do a lot of damage. [break][break] Meanwhile Lydia would side step the explosion of tar that resulted in her attacks against the main foe. As it rose from the dead body of one of the corrupted mana beast the vice captain would just return the smile as it spoke to her. Oh so you think just because I'm his vice captain I'm weaker than him? Well sorry but that's not true I'm just as strong as him just less destructive to the area around me. As for why you're here if I had to guess it's to do with the crystal. It drains magic from those you fight doesn't it. Yugo over there was nothing more than bait am I right? After all the strong the mage who's mana your take the strong the crystal right? [break][break] Then again even if he's not bait you're plan was still to drawl me out hence why you started killing my citizens. It might have surprised the deamon that Lydia was able to figure everything out so quick but if it had truly done it's homework on the glass mage then it would have known that Lydia was a strategist. As for the comment of bring an army you should have listened to your boss. After all you aren't enough to take me out and I don't plan on letting you get away. Before the deamon could react Lydia would appear in front of it thanks to her speed which was only getting faster at this point. It would manage to put it's guard up as the vice captain threw a punch at it's side. However she would follow up with a kick to it's legs knocking it down before kicking it into another tree.

The headless demon on one side, Lydia and the Daemon on the other. Yugo could only grit his teeth as once again others stronger then him were protecting him from harm. The dark voice Yugo had developed after Zaven revealed Yugos true lineage tickled the back of Yugos mind. It was his own inner doubts and shadow self. A growing shadow that only existed because he refused to accept the truth of her his father was and what the revelation meant for his life. It tried to tell him he was nothing, only a weakling who could never amount to anything besides a bed ridden cripple. He could feel the gripping darkness invade his mind as the general fought against the headless Daemon, and the vice captain handled the leader. His body shook in fear and indecision on what to do.
But as it tried to dig its claws into his mind Yugo broke the stranglehold by reminding himself of the warmth he had felt when Ardere had healed him, or how he had cried in Zavens arms when he had awoken from their daemon forced combat. He broke toward the headless daemon and used the generals back as a spring board to launch himself high into the air above the Daemon. He knew it was targetting him, as it had when they first met, and when its seperated head had been destroyed by zaven he had promised vengence on the young glass mage and the shadow captain. The Daemon, despite not having a visible head, turned to look upward fully distracted by the flashy display as Yugo had Hoped. He couldn’t decide between helping the general or Lydia and as such had decided to do both.
As he was far enough above the two below him that the general could fully swing her axe without worrying about hitting him, he twisted mid air and raised his middle finger and thumb up to touch each other as he said the words ‘mark, set’ to activated the homing aspect of his spell aiming not the Main Daemon, but for the precious crystal she was now attempting to use to stop Lydia from using any magic to fight her as it would simply get absorbed into the crystal. He flicked the finger sending a super condensed ball of glass sailing in a curved arc that would lead it safely around Lydia, and send it smashing into the crystal. He had learned when he almost died fighting along side Ardere that the crystal was what they were truly intrigued in using. It didn’t destory the crystal, much to his annoyance but the shock of the sudden impact ripped the object from the daemons grip, causing what ever spell it was using to stop working.
”NOW LADY LYDIA!”
The daemon would barely have any time to react to what happened, the shock of it had made it so she was completely open, and had broken the concentration needed for what ever spell she was using to jump bodies, as the converted humans fell to the ground finally dead.

[attr="class","florencetext"] Noire would feel Yugo use her back as a jumping board which the general didn't know how to feel about. However it did give her an opening as the headless deamon looked at him. It went to use it's sword arms to cut the younger mage in half. However the Raven haired girl would block the attack with her axe before kicking it away. "I already told you that your fight is with me." Noire would then run at the deamon who was already getting up by this point. She would manage to dodge it's attack before swing her axe deep into it's side hitting it's lung which should have been a fatal blow. [break][break] However it manage to survive and before she was able to pull her axe out it would strike her with it's arm which would knock her back but her mana skin saved her from taking in real damage. It was then that the general would notice the week spot on it's chest. Getting back up she would summon a sword made out of steel before running back at the deamon. She would once again manage to avoid all it's attacks however she would catch the last attack with her own hand so the thing couldn't get away. She would then stab her sword into the weak spot which would finally kill the deamon. Meanwhile Yugo's plan would work for what he planned however he had made a fatal mistake of making it known he was still here. The deamon had panicked at first but knew she could use him to her advantage. [break][break] She would then shoot at spike made out of tar that would kill the weaker glass mage if Lydia didn't do anything. Lydia of course wouldn't be able to kill the deamon and save Yugo at the same time. However Lydia was chose to save the boy as she still had most of her mana skin left and the deamon was still on the defensive. She however wasn't able to make it to him in time without get hurt herself as the spike would stab into her side but she would manage to catch it before the spike could go fully through her side and kill the white haired kid. The attack had somehow managed to pass through Lydia's mana skin resulting in a lot of blood flowing out of wound. The deamon however would just laugh as it thought the fight was over. "I knew it was the magic knights job to protect those weaker than you but I didn't really think you'd take the attack for him. Now you're going to die and afterwards I'll still kill the boy so much for needed an army it seems like in the end you were killed by you duty to protect others." [break][break] As the deamon was speaking Lydia's bloody thirsty smile wouldn't fade. Sure the attack would have killed most mages but Lydia wasn't like most mages. She would pull the spell out of her side before looking up at the deamon who had picked the crystal back up. Our duty as a magic knight isn't to save everyone. Our job is to protect the kingdom as a whole. So that's where you're mistake was I wouldn't sacrifice myself and put my kingdom and clover at risk to save this kid. Your spell wasn't enough to kill me I was surprised it went past the rest of my mana skin but I knew no matter what the spell wouldn't kill me. Lydia's blood lust would increase again causing the deamon to take a step back. "H...how that spell should have killed a normal mage. [break][break] "I'm not a normal mage besides I wouldn't be worthy of the title of vice captain of the crimson lions if something like that killed me. I told you that you should have brought an army. As fun as it would be to keep trading blows I'm going to end this now. Light Magic: Heavenly Judgement Lydia would raise her hand into the air as she was casting the spell. It was one of the two spells that showed the full extent of her attack magic. A beam of light would then appear above the deamon. Before it could move Lydia would mover her hand down causing the beam of light to shoot down on the deamon killing her and destroying the crystal as well as one hundred and eighty meters of the forest in front of them. [break][break] She would then cast a healing spell on herself before looking at Yugo. Are you a dumbass or something? I told you to leave I didn't ask I told you. Yet not only do you not actually listen you go and put yourself in a fight that you don't stand a chance in. Those who can't hold there own in a fight are just a burden and should leave before they get others hurt. You're lucky it was me and not some other magic knight who saved you from that spell. Otherwise that deamon would have got what she wanted. You call yourself a magic knight yet you put yourself and others at risk to try and be a hero. However in all reality your just a kid trying to play magic knight and hero.

Again, Yugo was stuck midmotion as the world moved around him faster and more dangerous then he could handle. He didn’t even have the ability to see the attack that almost took his life, let alone the quick movement that saved it. It happened so fast and sharply that Yugo messed up his landing and ended up on his ass in a minor shock as he watched lydia and the general fight and kill the daemons. He watched in stunned silence as with little ese, the two killed monsters that would have killed him with the ease he had in breathing.
He watched as the daemon died a terrible death in the pure sunlight. Its wailing scream of anguish was in another language not of this world. Its tar like body spluttered and boiled as it cried out to be saved by some one named “Hastur” before falling to the ground and dying as her body dried up and turned to dust as the light finally ended its relentless assault. Yugo stared at the swath of forest so easily devoured by the light, turning it into a burnt and ruined wasteland. He wonder just was insane magic people like Lydia, Ardere, and his father Zaven must be dealing with. He looked up at lydia and then stood up as she began to berate him.
Her words cut deeply on the young man. A child who so eagerly wanted nothing more then to stand tall and proud found it hard to be told he was less then useless. He had already felt himself as a Burden and to hear someone like Lydia seemingly confirm that for him almost broke the young man. He turned his head down in shame and nodded as she finished her sentence. Yugo simply nodded and with a understanding determination in his downcast eyes he responded to her with “Understood, Vice Captain Lydia.”
He turned to follow her if she left and could not help but notice the generals death glare at him. He was unsure if it was because he used her as a springboard or if it was because he had messed up, either way he wasn’t sure shed be friendly to him and as such kept quiet. If pressed for an explination to his actions, he was forthcoming and did not lie. “I thought if I did things correctly, I could cause a distraction for both enemies at the same time and allow you both to have a clear opening to attack and end the battle. That was all the intentions I had.”
[attr="class","florencetext"] The wound on Lydia's side would quickly close up and fully heal almost as if she hadn't even taken a tar spike to the side. After all, she was a prodigy in healing magic it was almost funny to think about how someone who was so good at fighting and killing was also a master at giving life. Her gaze would quickly shift to Noire who unlike Lydia was just annoyed at what happened was beyond pissed. The vice-captain knew what was coming next and before the Raven-haired girl could even punch Yugo Lydia would catch her first. I understand you're pissed about what happened but punching him won't change anything. The general would then lower her arm back down to her side. "I know that I just want to know why he would do something so dumb that could have gotten you killed." [break][break] The two women would then listen as the weaker glass mage explained why he did what he did. The vice-captain would let out a sigh before speaking. I'll be honest with you. It doesn't matter how good your intentions were. You aren't strong enough to make those kinds of risks and be able to counterattack. The deamon knew what your plan was and that's exactly why she attacked you. It was to buy time by using the weakest link to her advantage. Good intentions don't win a fighting strength, Strategy and adaptability do. [break][break] As it stands now you lack the experience and strength in all of them. The pink-haired mage would pause for a moment before speaking again. You have two options which you need to choose between now. One is to get stronger and become worthy of being a magic knight. The second is to just stay weak and give up your mantle before you get anyone hurt. So which one will you choose?

Yugo had expected the fist, not perfectly, but he had expected the general of all of them to be the one to try to attack him, he wouldnt resist and allow it to happen, however Lydia caught the punch and saved him from a new injury. As Lydia calmed the General down for a moment, Yugo breathed a quiet sigh of relief that he would be saved from retaliation he felt he deserved. He hadnt really known why he had chosen to use her as a spring board. He didn’t even really understand why he disobeyed. He knew she was higher ranking them him, and was even in her own kingdom making her a Queen as well over him. He wondered to himself if he had let his desire to… do something useful, anything useful, had ended up doing far more harm then any good it could have made happen.
The young Magic Knight would perk up as Lydia began to speak. He made sure to listen to each and every word and absorb as much meaning from them as possible. Yugo didn’t disagree that good intentions meant nothing compared to experience and ability. He even found the idea to be something he understood. So once again he found himself wondering why he had done what he had done. Was he under enemy influence again? No… it wouldnt make sense as lydia and the general most likely would be able to sense something was off and they might not even be having this conversation. Was it because he was scared to fail? That question stuck with Yugo as he realized thats the question he needed to ask.
It had happened before, where the enemy was so overwhelmingly strong that even Ardere had to get serious. And yet, without order, or without the ability and experience needed he had seen for himself first handed that just because one might not be the most logical person to handle something, that doesnt mean they arent the right one. But even then, he also agreed heavily with her that he was weak and would not survive doing things like this constantly. He understood that if he wanted to really take the fight to these monsters then he needed to be stronger. He needed experience fighting, and he needed to continue to grow as a magic knight.
Once Lydia finished speaking, he would speak clearly and purposely, but not to sound above her or to try to pull off anything more then letting her know his resolve. He removed his magic knights cloak and held it infront of him, his eyes which while still fresh and opened wide in youth, were hard set and looking straight ahead. “You can take my Mantle, But I wont stop hunting these monsters. I understand im weak, and unexperienced in the ways of being a Magic Knight. But I made a promise to my parents, may they rest in peace, that I would not let their deaths be in vein. I am a citizen of Clover and I swore on the day I received this mantle that I would fight with everything I have to protect it, not just for the nobles selfish aims!” as he spoke now, his mana flared, unconcious to himself it flowed clear without imperfection and looked much like the heated haze of a sunbaked pathway. “Ill make sure the Citizens of Clover, Peasent and Noble alike are able to live in true equality and peace. My life is worth far less then even the life of a single Citizen of Clover. I know im weak… So ill keep working hard to get stronger. I may not know how, But ill keep striving till I finally learn how.” he aura died down a bit as his final words has a calm tone to them of quiet resolve being hardened once again.”
[attr="class","florencetext"] The vice-captain would watch as Yugo took his mantle off and held it out to her. This of course made it seem like he was giving up as a magic knight but Lydia had a feeling he had more to say and would let him speak. It wasn't like she could remove him from his squad anyway. The vice-captain would think for a moment before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it before taking a few hits off it. Keep your mantle and if you truly want to achieve what you said never try and hand it to anyone again even if it's to show resolve. It's an insult to those who came before you to be willing to hand it over so easily. The glass mage would then turn and start to walk away. I'm tired of watching idealistic young knights die so follow me. We're heading to my family's estate you can sleep there for the knight. I can start training you in the morning if you want. However, it won't be easy and you'll break a lot of bones. If you accept the offer then be up by five in the morning and meet me outside. Don't keep me waiting. [EXIT]

Yugo ood his ground under the watchful gaze of Lydia. His heart was steady, but he knew he would crumble soon if she didn’t relent. Thankfully she did and after explaining what she wanted and walking away, yugo watched before putting his cloak back on and nodding. He watched as her and the general left, and he made a promise not to allow himself to ever take his cloak off again like that. He wouldnt allow himself to bring shame or disgrace to the title if she was not expecting things of him. He understood her desire not to see anyone die, thought he did take a bit of exception at her comment about being idealistic.
Soon he was alone, and he made his way toward her castle. He followed the same trail the two had, and would soon find himself standing before a great and terrible castle. If he set foot in there… he would be at the mercy of Lady lydia and her rules. She had promised him he would break bones, and yet… that threat didn’t scare Yugo. In fact it gave him confidence, he had been dealing with broken bones his entire life after all, so what was a few more. He walked forward, and entered into the castle grounds and his new future.
