This? This had nothing to do with her curse. This had nothing to do with training. This had nothing to do with her family. The one place in the world she felt at most peace at. At her most relaxed at. Prior to meeting Suna and visiting her in her cottage, this was the one place in all of Clover where she felt at most at ease. She still feared her own impending death, a secret she had hoped to keep from these three for as long as she could, of course. But she was growing restless. She just needed a chance to... relax. Was that a good decision? A bad one? She did not know. But all she knew was this place gave her peace of mind. And she was here now for that very reason, unaware of the dungeon that loomed not too far away.[break][break]
She had sent a letter of invitation to Suna and to Valo Starrk. Suna's letter included that she bring Hans, of course, as Verena did not know how to get ahold of him. However, though each letter was written specifically for the participant, the message largely remained the same. She would be offering food for a picnic-like activity on this date at around this time. She gave an arguably overly-detailed instruction of just where she would be at, as it was quite easy to get lost.[break][break]
One wouldn't normally have a picnic in a Grand Mana Zone, Verena knew. But much of the wildlife tended to avoid people, to begin with. Not to mention, she never really had an issue with any of the animals in this environment. It gave her a very real sense of welcoming and that was precisely why she had taken such a liking to it. It was where she came to think, reflect, and in general just be at ease.[break][break]
The heiress to the Reinsberg family had a blanket laid out on the ground with baskets near the top containing various types of food. They were mostly healthy, such as salads and fruits, but she had also brought a wide variety of sandwiches ranging from ham all the way to chicken. There was a surprising amount of food available. Most of the meat was store-bought, but the salads and fruit were effectively "homemade"; she found, sanitized, and arranged them in such a way they would be edible for the three visitors herself.[break][break]
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the help of her golems to bring the food with her. Their footprints could be seen clear as day through the lush grass that decorated the ground. It would make for an easy enough time finding her. She had found a spot below a single tree with wide branches next to a brook with crystal clear water. Various rare and beautiful flowers could be seen encircling the area, with some growing lower to the ground than others; low enough where Verena could simply walk over them to get entry to this 'enclosed' space. A giant crystal of pure mana could be seen floating above the brook, its reflection peering into the water, and the water reflected in its own construction.[break][break]
The brunette had just neatly finished arranging everything when she... felt something. Something strange. Something... off. It felt like it was calling to her. Curiously, she looked around. "Is... someone there?" she asked aloud, but knew she would get nothing back in return.[break][break]
She stood up from her spot, and made her way out of the enclosed space, trying to 'listen' to this sensation that she felt. Something was calling her. She was certain of it. Where was it? She found herself moving until she arrived before a scene of trees she had never seen in her life. She wasn't sure how long she had walked, only that she was here now. She curiously eyed these trees. Out of wonder. Out of awe. Standing before them like a child before a king, she was stupified by their otherworldly majesty. She looked almost hypnotized.[break][break]
Verena, of course, was in her usual coat with her twin tails. With a smaller group, perhaps she would have bagged her coat. But it was more comfortable like this for the time being. More secure. And that was more important.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
"A Picnic?" The fire mage from Green Mantis said out loud to himself, his voice did travel through the large training room in the squad base alerting some of his squad mates. They looked at him with a confused look on their face, he returned their noisy faces with a smug look of his own. Considering the fire mages standing now in the squad no one really dared to question or look his way any further. The blue embers and flames that were around him only added to his intimidation. Valo was training more intensely than ever, he was preparing for his upcoming challenge at the Vice Captain seat.
Valo read the letter of invitation carefully, he was indeed invited to a picnic outing by Verena Reinsberg. The young women he solved those Minotaur cases with only a few weeks back. He admired the women mostly for her detailed oriented mind, while she was not a physical fighter herself she was a strong mage with potential to be exceedingly powerful. She was a friend that he did not think he would make, but alas it happened.
Now the question being, was he actually going to go to this picnic of hers? He didn't want to disturb his training regimen, but he was going at it for a few days now nonstop. Maybe a break would be of some good. But the fire mage refused he shook his head, he convinced himself he had no time for a picnic. He took a deep breath in, spread open his legs and hardened his upper body. Intense blue and red flames started to encircle him and increase their intensity. "Shiiinnn.-" A smack could be heard throughout the training room, causing everyone to look over to Valo's spot once more. Seeing the fire mage holding his forehead with intense anger on his face, his eyes on Agneya Astra his newly acquired spirit was floating right above him. "We should go!" she shouted crossing her little arms and pouting. Valo's face went from anger to confusion. "You wanna go to a picnic? Why? You wanna fight Barron just as badly as I do." he asked her wondering why the spirit would suggest such a thing.
She flew closer to him and grabbed his cheeks with her tiny hands. "Cause you need a break." she said her voice was stern. "You've been training nonstop for days. Training too much can lead to terrible results. A break every now and then is good for you and your mind Valo. Take a break today let's go to a picnic. The vice captain seat isn't going anywhere." she said to him. This was a different side of Agneya he didn't see to often. Normally she was just as fired up as him when it came to training and fighting someone, usually more so. But her words had some truth to them he would admit, but he knew something else was up. "Fine. We'll go. Just today tomorrow more training." he grabbed a nearby small towel and wiped his sweaty face. Agneya flew and landed on top of his hair with a smile on her face. "But what's the real reason you wanna go?" he asked her. "I never been to a picnic before." she said cutely.
The Green Mantis knight was sitting on top of his large white dragon golem Masshiro, his legs folded as he was in his thoughts. So time to rest and relax would do some good he had to admit. This being just a casual outing he didn't dress up in his attire he wore for missions or dungeons. For a top he put on a light brown jacket that only came down to his waist the collar was a little high reaching the bottom of his chin. Underneath was a white sleeveless shirt with three buttons coming down from the neck line. Black pants held up with a brown belt, another looser belt was used to carry his small lantern. As for footwear he still wore long light brown boots, but these were brand new and clean. Considering this was Aristaeus Basin a forest and woods setting boots was still probably the favorable footwear of choice. Valo did put on a new accessory piece in a necklace it's metal detailed chain was black and the long crystal piece was shimmering blue, inside the crystal was a small blue ember. The necklace was a gift to him, but from whom it was actually from Valo didn't wouldn't say unless you were someone he could trust whole heartedly.
The fire mage didn't bring any of his typical weapons with him, no Hinokagutsuchi his silver staff. And no Agni his red fighting gloves. Since this was just a picnic outing he saw no reason to bring his weapons with him. Aristaeus Basin wasn't a place filled with dangers, and if things did get rough he was more than capable with his physical attacks alone along with his spells. The only item with him was his lantern which was more of a accessory piece to his outfit, along with his necklace. Agneya rested on his head as he the dragon flew with the precise directions given in the letter by Verena. They flew in closer to the ground now seeing a plethora of footsteps in the grass, it was probably her golems being put to work. Following those footsteps he saw a giant crystal of pure mana floating above a lake. Then the fire mage spotted Verena under a large tree, she had found quite the spot for this picnic. Lots of beautiful flowers were scattered around, the brook setting and the mana in this place was definitely majestic. Agneya flew off of Valo's head to admire the scenery, her little embers started to spark and glow with a little more light. "So. Pretttyyyy." but her daze for the beautiful surroundings came to a halt.
Something was wrong.
Something in the atmosphere changed and it wasn't entirely welcoming. Valo saw Verena walking down a path as if she was hypnotized. She was heading towards something but Valo couldn't really tell what it was. Agneya flew over back to Valo with a look of concern on her face. "Valo something is wrong." she said to him, he nodded in return. "I know. I can feel it too." he said his voice full on concern.
"Verena!" he shouted while having his golem he was riding on follow her. She was dressed in her usual coat and same hair style, long twin tails. "Verena!" he said again hoping she would stop. Eventually she did staring at a scene of trees, that Valo also looked at and was in awe by, almost at a loss of words. But a slap on his forehead from his fiery spirit snapped him out of it. "No time for sleeping! We got work to do!" she said her little voice now determined. "Owe! Thanks." he replied. But she right something in this forest was not right, and now it was time to figure it out. "I'm going to get a good look of where we are from a higher vantage point!" he said to Verena hopefully she would snap out of her trance by now.
Valo used his golem and flew into the air, if he could spot an exit point that would get them out of this mess that would be ideal. Also hopefully he could find Suna and Hans who were probably already nearby or on their way. Agneya now sitting on his shoulder voiced her concern. "Valo this place is not normal. It's energies read almost like a dungeon.""A Dungeon here? Is that even possible?""Dungeons can show up anywhere at anytime, I think we might have stumbled across one." But before Valo could respond, his golem had flew about 40 meters up and he was instantly teleported right back to the front right behind Verena. He fell with a loud THUMP!
The fire mage was laying on his back on the grass covered ground. His golem right above him with Agneya on top of it. "It's a dungeon I'm telling you." he groaned as he sat up rubbing his upper back. "Yea its a dungeon alright."

Going to a picnic...was the last thing on Hans' mind today. He could understand why Verena would invite Suna since from what he has seen, those two were pretty good friends...but he wasn't sure why she invited him as well. Perhaps she was just trying to be nice because of their connection to the blue-haired elf? Either way, Hans did not read too much into it. Still, a part of him would rather be training...or cleaning his swords....but not even Hans could say no to free food....or Suna...mostly the latter.
Through the sky, Hans and presumably Suna were riding on top of one of Hans' golem constructs, an armored raven crafted from dark magic with piercing red eyes. Its wings were spread out, flapping occasionally as it silently flew. Hans sat there looking forward while his opened grimoire floated next to him with a dark aura surrounding it. The merc had on his usual attire, along with his cosmic necklace hanging around his neck. The dark mage looked the same, but he was missing something...something that most who knew him well enough would probably take notice of the moment they glance at him...
His swords...
No Dark Edge, no Nightfall, and no Raven's Grasp, though with the last one, Hans decided not to wield ever again after gaining some new information about that malevolent greatsword....
Hans almost never leaves his swords behind, or he at least takes one. They are just as much a part of his attire as they are his weapons. But ever since the dark mage found himself attending certain festivities that he thought he'd never go to...thanks to a certain elf, Hans has been leaving his weapons behind, seeing no reason to take them, and this picnic was no different. Even though swords are his main use for offense, Hans was not helpless without them thanks to his magic and hand-to-hand combat skills, so he wasn't worried about anything going wrong....though, he would still prefer having some kind of sword in his hand.
The merc was quiet for a bit, focusing on the directions he recalled seeing on that invitation. But then he glanced back at the sound mage, before looking back forward, scratching the back of his head. "Do you two normally go on picnics?" Hans asked, a little curious. "I've...never been to one before...." the dark mage added as he started rubbing the back of his neck now. Picnics never really came across Hans' mind and wasn't really something up his alley. Hans tends to eat a lot outside...but he doubted that was the same. There were a few times where the merc used to eat with his mother in the front yard of their old home when the dark mage was younger, but he wouldn't consider that a picnic...or should he?
"Hmm, Suna?" Hans then turned his head to the side, but didn't exactly look back at the sound mage. "What...does one exactly do at a picnic? Besides eating I mean." Whether the elf had actually been to one herself or not, Hans would still ask this believing that the sound mage would be more knowledgeable about it. The merc wasn't clueless, but when it comes to most social gatherings...he still had work to do, but the man still has made great progress with this sort of stuff. It was clear that he was a bit sheepish about this however since he couldn't make eye contact with his lady.
Eventually, the couple would find themselves at their destination, flying towards a big tree. The tree and the surrounding area looked beautiful. The dark mage looked towards the tree then shifted his eyes down to the ground, noticing a blanket holding a variety of food. This definitely looked to be the spot...but where was their host?
It was then, Hans started to pick up something in the atmosphere....something off. "You feel that too, right?" he asked his partner before furrowing his eyes. Hans commanded his golem to stop, and the raven started to float there flapping its wings. After this, the dark mage closed his eyes and started to sense the ki around him to try and get a better feel of this odd atmosphere. He was only able to sense what was around him in a twenty-meter radius, but he felt that would be enough.
As he did this, the merc picked up on four different signatures within the area. There was one just standing by themselves, while the other three appeared to be...flying upward?
This all seemed to be happening pretty close by, so the dark mage opened his eyes and turned in the direction of where those signatures were coming from. Hans' eyes widened a little as he took notice of a familiar white dragon golem before raising one of his brows. "Valo?" Why was the fire mage here? Perhaps he picked up on the strange vibes? That explained two of those three signatures then...but what about the third?
Hans watched Valo attempt to soar up into the sky, but the moment he reached a certain level...he suddenly vanished. The merc's brows furrowed once more after seeing this before noticing that the flame mage was suddenly on the ground again. The dark mage looked back at Suna, wanting to see if she saw what he just witnessed, and with a small nod, the merc commanded his golem to fly down towards the mantis knight.
"Verena?" Upon reaching the ground, Hans would notice the summoner as well before landing the golem. Hans hopped off of the raven and if Suna hasn't gotten off already, he'd hold a hand out and help her down as well before bringing his attention back to the other two. The merc's attention then focused more on Valo, wanting to ask him what he was doing here...until he noticed the...creature with him. "Is...that a new golem?" he asked Valo, gesturing his head a bit towards the tiny creature. If it was...then it was certainly something that Hans wasn't expecting from the fire mage....
The dark mage would then find his attention being brought back to the source of this strange energy. It was a bunch of trees...but there was more to it. Assuming that Verena is still looking up at those trees, Hans would look questioningly at the summoner. She seems to sense it as well...but was it on a deeper level? The merc could not tell exactly what was going on, but one thing was for certain....
....He should've brought his swords.

This golem reaches up to 12 meters in height and is used mainly for defending purposes, using its wings or even its entire body to guard. Despite its specialty in defense, the golem can use its sharp wings, talons, or beak to attack those who get too close to whoever it's suppose to be protecting, but no matter how many attacks it does at once, it cannot exceed its current rank in damage. I can also be used for transportation (speed remaining at 7 m/s, and can hold up to three people). (Can summon an additional golem per 30 Control (Ease of Creation), maxing at three.)
Suna mused quietly as she and Hans flew over towards Aristaeus’ Basin. She had only been here once before, with a certain earth mage and silver mage. Back then, she had been a true beginner in her fighting style. She had not been sensitive nor aware of her surroundings, and that had resulted in several hilarious mishaps. Looking back on it, it had been one of her first encounters in Clover Kingdom, before she had made the decision and moved from the Witches' Forest. It felt like a lifetime ago, as countless things have happened between then and now. Nonetheless, it was a fond memory.
"Do you two normally go on picnics? I've...never been to one before...."
"Hmm?" Hans' voice drew her out of her momentarily reverie. "Not normally, no," then laughed merrily, "and a picnic is nothing like going to a ball, so don't worry! Just relax and be yourself." She patted his arm, but it seemed that he continued to wonder as to what they would be doing. "At picnics, people chat and such...maybe play a few outdoor games and go on light walks afterwards." She shrugged lightly. "Depends on what Verena has in mind, so we'll see!"
Thankfully, the summoner had left very specific and detailed instructions of where she would be holding the picnic, so there would be no confusion as to where they would meet up. They circled over the tree and stream that matched the descriptions, and Suna pointed down at the large tracks around the area. "Those look like Verena's golems..." Then she caught sight of the blanket and the basket. There was even the large mana crystal that hovered over the brook, a clear marker of where they were to be. "That must be the place!" There was the food all neatly laid out under a very scenic setting...but no Verena. Where did she go?
"You feel that too, right?"
"Feel what?" Suna had been too busy looking for Verena, she did not sense the strange feeling...until now. "Mmm...something does feel off." She admitted, peering curiously around them. For the most part, nothing looked out of the ordinary, at least to the naked human eye. But perhaps Hans' ki could tell something else that was otherwise hidden.
Then she caught sight of Verena. There she was. But she looked...dazed somehow. What was going on? Then she saw a white flying creature from the corner of her eye, and recognized that as Valo's dragon golem. She had seen it only once before, but it was pretty difficult to forget.
There was also something else flying around him, but she had no time to take a second look, as they instantly disappeared and reappeared back down at where Verena was...with the fire mage down on the ground, then his dragon, then the little hovering thing. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion and curiosity. Interesting.
Hans had nodded and lowered his golem down, and Suna hopped off light as soon as it touched ground. "Verena! Valo!" She called out to them, waving gaily at them. "What are you looking at?" Once she neared the duo—or trio, really—her eyes widened in surprise at the 'little fluttering thing.' "Is that...is that a spirit?" The elf blinked a few times, to make sure she was seeing things as they were. "Oooh, she's so cute! What's your name, little fairy?"
Assuming there would be some answer, Suna would smile and wave at the fiery-looking spirit. But now she also turned to look at where Verena was looking. "Well, we can always take a nice little walk first. It'll open our appetite for all that delicious food I saw Verena prepared back there!" And without really thinking twice, she stepped forward...and into what she would quickly learn was actually a dungeon...
Floor 1 | Area 1
As she entered the place, Suna noticed how the grove was surrounded by beautiful trees. Almost otherworldly, with the way the clearing was bathed in ethereal light and infused with mana. The elf took in a deep breath. It felt so calm and peaceful, a nice little hideout place. It was interesting how it seemed to be untouched by human hands, as everything felt so pure and clean. At least for now.
There were also a few apple trees, and their red-colored fruits looked extremely tempting. So Suna reached out and grabbed one, then bit into it. "Mmm...yum." It was deliciously juicy and fresh. She did not know if the others would do the same, but when she took the second bite…
"Pff...eww!" She spat out that second bite onto her free hand and made a face. She showed the group the insides of her apple, which was perfectly fine on one side but rotten on the other. "Nasty." She tried to cough the rest of it out, but she could still taste the decay in her mouth. She was not too worried about it though, as she figured the unsightly taste would eventually fade...hopefully.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." She said reassuringly, though now she would probably tell her friends to not eat those strange fruits—unless they were as reckless in the moment as she was. She did wander around a little bit, looking at the different trees and if there were any other deceiving fruit trees. "What else is here...hmm..." But before she could say anything else, something large and heavy fell from the apple tree she was just under.
"A giant apple?" Only, this one had eyes and little legs...and it did not look happy at all. "Uh..." Suna held up her hands, backing away slowly. They must be the guardians of the grove or something. Of course they would be angry, with her picking a fruit from their trees. "I'm sorry for taking one of your apples! I'll repay it back..." How, she had no idea; she was just saying the first thing that came to her mind at the moment...

The brunette was so taken aback by what she was hearing... no, that wasn't quite right. What she was feeling that she admittedly didn't even notice the three guests that she had specifically invited had already arrived. She heard their voices, of course, but she was in such a stupor that she didn't quite... process their words in this moment.[break][break]
It wasn't until she noticed Suna going in advance that Verena snapped out of it. "H-Huh? Oh, you all... wait, Suna!" Verena said, realizing that the blue-haired elf had gone ahead.[break][break]
[ floor one, room one ]
[break]
Verena raced after Suna, or whatever the equalivent was for the brunette given her body's condition. The inside was... she wasn't quite sure how to describe it. "Beyond the realm of human understanding." The sun was low, giving the entire area an atmosphere as though it was in a constant state of twilight. It gave an unnatural glow upon the forest. And yet, the flora and fauna seemed as lively as ever. Not just that, there was the chirping of birds. It was as though this represented the very idea of spring. Was... was that even possible?[break][break]
After a moment of travel, it seemed as though the group at large had arrived at an apple orchard of a short, Verena just barely managed to catch up with Suna (though it was likely not an issue for Hans or Valo alike). Apple trees hung proudly above the ground, bearing their fruit as though presenting an award to all who bore witness to it for them to see. As if demanding to be praised for producing such high-quality apples. And it seemed as though that Suna was eager to take them 'up' on this offer.[break][break]
Verena caught up with Suna right before she took an apple. "Uhm... Suna, I don't think that's..." Verena tried to protest, but seeing these apples... Suna was part elf, wasn't she? Surely, she had a better idea of nature than she herself did. In addition, these apples looked incredibly juicy... it might not have been the smartest decision, but if Suna was going to have one, then surely Verena could as well. And so, gently plucking one right off the tree, Verena took a bite. In unison with her blue-haired friend, however, she spat it out suffering a similar fate as Suna.[break][break]
...she should have known better.[break][break]
Verena could tell immediately from that bite alone that that apple was going to cause problems. But as far as she knew, none of the persons here were capable of healing magic or could cleanse this issue. That was fine, however. What wasn't fine was the impending apple-like creatures that began to fall from the trees, clearly upset. And yet... all Verena could think when she saw them was how cute they were. She wanted nothing more than to pat their little heads.[break][break]
"U-Uhm... I'm very sorry..." Verena tried to protest, slowly backing up as she began looking around.[break][break]
In addition to the one that had fallen from this tree, there were fifteen more. Sixteen total of these creatures. Valo and Hans had mentioned this was the work of a dungeon, and Verena thought back to the dungeons so far she had cleared with Satori. If that was the case, then...[break][break]
While it seemed as though Verena had lucked out and just avoided the apple 'drop', she would not be so lucky to avoid the incoming roll, as the creature rolled with enough speed to cause Verena to tumble over and fall onto her back as she let out a pained cry in the process. She had realized it too late. It was obvious fighting would need to be necessary, but... truthfully, the brunette did not want to fight such creatures. They were far too cute.[break][break]
But it was clear that if she didn't, they might end up causing serious injury. And as the host of this picnic, even if it had taken a slight... detour... she couldn't afford for anyone else to get hurt, either. "Summoner Creation Magic: Harp'ee," Verena declared, as the golden-clad wolf-like creature manifested. Two giant harps were erected from its back that gave the illusion of wings, but it was obvious they were not for flying.[break][break]
There were three total that were summoned. A single base one, as well as two others that were summoned. "Defeat the apple creatures," Verena ordered, though it was clearly forced. She did not want to fight them, but getting out of here without doing so would be difficult. Besides, this was a dungeon. The result of unnatural mana that had been gathered in this location. Everything here was unnatural. And so too were the applerounds.[break][break]
Her three golems tore through two of the creatures; however, one of the applerounds was about to land a killing shot on one of them. "Move!" Verena ordered that golem, as it maneuvered to the left.[break][break]
Another of the golems swiped at it, thus taking out three. But there were still several more. Verena contemplated exasperating more mana, but she also knew just how strong Galo and Hans were. It was most likely she wouldn't need to do anything.

Valo knew that voice he knew it pretty well, that voice could only belong to Hans! Valo's attention went from rubbing is back and scoping out this weird forest straight Hans the dark mage and the person with him Suna! The fire mage got up from the ground with a smirk on his face nodding at them both, it was easy to tell he was happy to see them. "Hans! Suna!"
"Is...that a new golem?" a fair question asked by Hans. But Valo placed the palms of his hands on his face as if a big mistake was just made.
"A new Golem!?!" The fire spirit shouted now in a fiery mood. She flew in right in front of Han's face her arms crossed, her face in a full scowl. The little embers around her went from a nice delicate orange to an intense blue. "I am not a golem! I am Agneya Astra a fire spirit! And don't you ever forget it!" though her frame was small and appearance that of a cute little red headed fairy. Her tone and demeanor was intense and straightforward, she was a spirit of fire after all. "Agneya! Reeelaaxx. Han's meant no harm by it." Valo said with an annoyed look on his face, gesturing for her to come back towards him. She gave Hans one last look blowing some smoke out of her nose, but then Suna caught the young spirits attention.
Suna's reaction to Agneya made the little spirit blush a bit, it wasn't often she was told that she was cute. Her blue flames calmed down back to a elegant orange as she flew close to Suna. "Thank You! I told the rude one over there." she said her little nose pointing to Hans. "My name is Agenya Astra! But you can just call me Agneya!" She said before floating over to Valo and sitting on his shoulder. "I like some of your friends Valo." she looked back at Hans with scowl on her face. "Some of them." It was pretty safe to say the dark mage was not on Agneya's good side.
Valo attempted to get the details out on what he noticed about this strange forest, him and his spirit believed this was some sort of dungeon. But before he could get another word out Suna had already walked in suddenly! After that Verena had followed! Leaving Hans and Valo behind only just for a few moments. "Ummm...So we came to the conclusion that this might be a dungeon. I guess thats the warning." Valo said to Hans shrugging and walking in after Verena.
Floor 1 | Room 1
Entering this place was almost like entering a whole new world of sorts. Still a forest setting, still beautiful trees and grass and magnificent colors throughout. The sunlight was pretty low it made for a more serene and twilight setting. There was almost like calling for the group to walk in deeper, at least for Valo. The fire mage took in a big breath of the air with his nose, his face was skeptical looking. This place looked so amazing and almost welcoming but the energies were off, he was getting more and more positive this was not a friendly place but indeed a dangerous one.
Valo had his hands in his jacket pocket his body was relaxed, of course he was just as focused as always but not tense. He had no weapons with him not even in his regular gear that he usually wore for missions and dungeons. He looked over to Hans and noticed the dark mage was without his swords! "Hans no swords?" he asked a little bit surprised at it, he never seen Hans without his trademark weapons before. It was almost weird to him. But he wasn't worried in the slightest, he knew how powerful Hans was now. Even without his weapons the dark mage was still a force to be reckoned with. "Eh. We'll be fine if things get a little crazy.""Pssshh. We got nothing to worry about."
Walking in deeper the group would notice a few apple trees throughout the forest, the looked quite good the fire mage would admit. But before he could pick one up and say anything about it Suna already had her teeth in one, her initial reaction was quite normal. Verena voiced a little bit of concern regarding eating the apples. Agneya pointed to one with the intention of picking it up, she did like to snack on things. "Let's split one Valo!" Given Suna's first reaction Valo had little to worry about, so he walked over still a bit hesitant but willing. He picked the apple up then heard the blue haired elf's second reaction spitting out the apple. Verena followed spitting out the piece of apple she bit into, all but confirming that these apples were no good. Agneya still reaching for the apple that was just out of her little arms grasp, Valo dropped the red poisonous treat leaving the little fire spirit pouting. "We have apples back home."
Now was the time to check if the two girls were ok, from the looks of they were probably just feeling a bit nauseous. Suna confirmed she was feeling alright stating she was fine, Verena on the other hand looks like she had a run in with other larger apples? Much larger apples at that, with angry faces and little arms and legs. The scene was just extremely weird and odd, of all the dark creatures, monsters, ghosts, ghouls, warriors and beasts Valo had fought these applerounds took the cake in just weirdness alone. Valo looked at one with one eyebrow raised in confusion, they looked like enemies but it was hard to tell really. Agneya on the other hand knew trouble when she saw it, she started to pull on his ear the little embers around her getting more intense. "Valo stop staring at them! And start burning and crushing them!"
Valo had half a mind to listen to the little overly aggressive spirit, but he heard from Verena and Suna tried to talk to these giant apples. "Maybe there is still a chance to talk to them?" he asked aloud starting to put his guard up though. Agneya looked annoyed. "This is a dungeon! There is no talking to monsters in a dungeon!" right after she shouted that, one apple had rolled with enough force to knock Verena over and that was all the confirmation he needed. It was time to get to work. With a burst of his speed Valo dashed to the closest violent apple to him in a blink of an eye, his left arm cocked back he let it go his left fist sending the appleround flying back in one blow crushing it. It looked like his pure strength alone was going to be enough to deal with them, he rather avoid flinging fire spells all over the place in a forest if he could. Another apple tried to sneak up on him with a pounce, but a swift and powerful roundhouse kick with his right leg took care of it. The rotation behind that kick led him another spinning around landing another kick on another apple. That was three now taken care of, Valo was starting to warm up shuffling his feet getting into his rhythm. Agneya was feeling the groove as well "Go~!"
With Agneya's shout Valo raced to his next target with a smirk on his face, her tiny index finger pointing at an appleround rolling towards him. The fire mage dashed towards it but jumped into the air avoiding it's roll completely. Once it missed it stopped rolling looking confused and still angry, but in the next moment it was crushed under Valo's foot as he came down with an axe kick. His momentum didn't stop there though he spun around again being really light on his feet, he closed the distance between and another appleround in flash his right fist striking it's red round frame sending it flying back! "That's only five Valo! You can do more easy! Get em~!""Nah nah. Look around thats why we have allies." he replied gesturing to the others as he probably assumed they took care of the rest.
"When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back."
"A new Golem!?!"
"Sh-she speaks?" Hans was not expecting this 'golem' to actually talk...or seem so sassy. All he could do was stand there and blink a few times as the fiery being went off on the dark mage. Agneya Astra was her name...and it turns out she wasn't a golem. The merc looked back and forth at Valo and his aggressive little partner before raising an eyebrow. "Spirit...?" he muttered before turning his attention to Suna as she started to praise the little creature.
"Right...spirit." Hans muttered to himself once more before placing a hand on his chin. That certainly made a lot more sense. The fire spirit appears to have taken a quick liking to the sound mage...but not so much when it comes to Hans, causing the merc to shift his eyes to the side and rub the back of his head as the tiny creature scowled at him. Suna spoke up once more, catching Hans' attention before walking straight into the unknown. The merc was about to attempt to stop his beloved until Verena finally came to and went off after the elf. The two of them just...running off into a strange forest didn't seem like a good idea at all in Hans' mind, but there they go. The merc sighed before looking over to the flame mage as he spoke. A dungeon? The area was giving off similar vibes to one. But before Hans could ponder more on this, Valo went right in as well, leaving Hans to purse his lips a bit at how reckless everyone else was being.
"Guess we're doing this then..."
With that, Hans went in after the others!
[FLOOR 1: AREA 1]
This was not how Hans pictured that this picnic would go...but then again he wasn't sure how it was going to end up. The area felt a lot more different than before now. The sunlight was low, giving off a vibe similar to twilight with trees filled with luscious green leaves and flowers breathing with beautiful life as well as color.
"Hans no swords?"
"Hm?" It was then the merc looked down to his side and noticed his lack of weapons. "Oh...right." The dark mage had a hint of disappointment in his tone before shrugging a little. "I assumed I wasn't going to need them since this was supposed to be a...picnic." he claimed before looking forward. Hans was skilled in hand to hand so he did not need his swords...but a part of him still felt empty without them. Looks like the poor merc is going to have to bear this swordless life for a little....
The dark mage briefly found himself not feeling concerned about the others but captivated by his surroundings...especially that strange glow...pushing him to go further. At first, the merc could only hear the serenading chirps of birds but was then taken out of his reverie at the sound of Suna's disgust. The merc walked over to his love with a hint of concern on his face while she was still coughing. Hans observed the rotten apple just as the elf claimed she was alright then noticed Verena having a similar reaction. Looking over to Valo and almost expecting the same thing, Hans breathed a sigh of relief as at least he didn't fall victim to these poisonous apples.
"What else is here...hmm..."
"Y-you're not really...thinking of trying something el-" Hans was about to finish his question until he noticed an apple fall from a nearby tree. The dark mage noticed how big it was compared to ordinary apples, but what he wasn't expecting was the face....and tiny limbs. It looked angry...but not intimidating at the least. Hans simply tilted his head before hearing a yelp come from the summoner! Hans looked over at Verena getting assaulted by another one of those...apple creatures, and summoned his grimoire, using it to cast his Sinister Protection on Verena by facing his dark aura covered palm in the summoner's direction, forming a dark outline around her. Whether he was in time to stop her from getting hurt the merc wasn't sure, but if anything else tried harming her then they would be finding themselves having a hard time.
Hans now took notice of the other three apples coming down from the tree close to him...along with many more from other trees! Taking a look around, Hans used his control over this defensive spell to form two more, one around Suna and the other on Valo. Looks like a battle was inevitable at this point!
The four apple creatures close to Hans were coming his way now, and the merc instinctively placed his hand to his side as if he were trying to unsheathe a sword..."Right..."...until he remembered that he didn't have any! The apples were getting closer, but Hans still had enough time to cast another defense spell, this time on himself. The dark mage was covered in a dark hunter's cloak as he cast his Hunter's Might spell, and as he did this, the apples crashed into the dark mage...but the merc didn't even budge! Not wasting any time, Hans punted one of them with his now enhanced strength, enough to crumble the apple creature to pieces before it could be sent flying. This didn't discourage the other three apples, however. They continued to roll at the dark mage, even throwing themselves at the merc, but they all would just bounce off of his dark cloak.
Hans grabbed one of the apples that were in mid-air and crushed it in his grip before throwing it towards the apple that had its sights on Suna. The throw didn't hit that apple, but it was enough to distract it, and with that Hans kicked that one off into the distance as well! Hans then looked over at the sound mage and smirked a little. "Don't think you can eat these ones too." he jested before furrowing his eyes at the sight of three more incoming apples...along with the remaining two from before. The merc activated his ki once more, focusing on the incoming enemies. He felt his own speed fall, but he still had enough to out-speed these creatures. So with that, Hans ran in at his current full speed towards those three apples, and as one of them tried chucking themselves at Hans, the merc stopped running and brought a palm up, thrusting it at the apple with enough force to destroy it! He then crushed the second one under his foot before settling his dark eyes on the third one. Hans did not forget about the other two, however...
Those other two apples were rolling up to Hans from behind just as the one in front of him was making its way over! Hans could sense them all like three separate jolts buzzing through his head. As one of the apples from behind and the one in front attempted to leap at Hans, the merc ducked out of the way, causing those two to crash into each other with enough backed-up force to destroy each other! while this happened, Hans turned his body a bit to grab a hold of the second apple from behind and slammed it into the ground with his palm, destroying it, leaving brief trails of darkness....and lasting trails of apple pieces with each strike he had made!
Everything went quiet now as this apple assault had come to an end. Hans looked over to Verena and her golems, and then to Valo, seeing the results of their battle. He tried to sense for anything more here, but that appeared to be the end of those creatures. "Alright...Perhaps we should refrain from eating anything else here, yeah?" Hans said in a calm tone...mostly referring to Suna and Verena.
With that, Hans looked over to what appears to be an entrance to the next area and gestured his head towards it before walking there himself, heading a little deeper into this strange forest.
[FLOOR 1: AREA 2]
Hans and presumably the others would now find themselves going down a pretty short path eventually leading to a lush meadow. Just like the last area, this one appeared to be blessed by mother nature itself, being beautiful with its tall grass and flowers scattered about. Hans however wasn't captivated like he was before. With what happened, Hans was on alert, keeping his ki active as well as the spells he cast on himself and the others. The merc stopped walking and took a look around, trying to get a feel of the ki in this area. His attention then quickly went forward at seemingly nothing, but it would soon be clear as the ground started to rumble a bit. "Tch...a stampede..." Hans muttered before gritting his teeth.
"Brace yourselves!" The merc yelled out just as said stampede came into view...a stampede of sheep-looking creatures?
Either way, Hans covered his face with his arm and stood his ground! The force of the incoming sheep stampede was enough to knock Hans over onto his back with the sheep now trampling over the dark mage, but his spell was still able to protect him...at least from taking any damage.
Hans slowly sat back up and had sheep fluff all over him. "Ngh..." He rubbed the back of his head and opened his eyes...but everything was blurry, so blurry that he couldn't see anything! "I...I can't see..." Hans stated as he tried his best to look around. He felt strange mana coming from his body...specifically the fluff that stuck to him before gritting his teeth again. "Are you all alright?" The dark mage asked, seeming a little more concerned about the others instead of his own blindness. He was still able to feel their presence through his ki so this didn't trouble him much....
But they weren't the only presence Hans was currently feeling.....
Hans' head started to slowly turn in the direction of...ten more ki signatures while he stood back up before closing his eyes.
Looks like it was about time for another fight....

Suna really should have known better not to pick and eat any strange fruits, let alone try to talk to cute but still equally strange creatures. It was not until she heard the little spirit fairy mention that this was a dungeon that it finally clicked.
She was such an idiot.
Though who could blame her? This place was uncommonly beautiful for a dungeon, the first that she has seen that was not dark and forbidding. The elf pursed her lips, once again making a face for the second time in a matter of moments. Still though, with the unfamiliar mana pull, she should have deduced that it was a dungeon and not just a pretty sightseeing place. It was not until she heard Verena's cry that she snapped out of her temporary reverie. The orchard guardians have all appeared, dropping from the trees and rolling towards the intruders.
Suna would have rushed over and helped her friend up, but it seemed like the brunette had things under control on her end. This was only the second time she has seen Verena use her golems on the offense, and silently applauded her friend on her actions. Looks could be deceiving, as she had learned, and she would have also hesitated on killing these cute fat apple creatures.
Both male mages had also jumped into action, Valo with his fiery punches and Hans...right, he had not brought any of his swords with him this time, as they were here on a picnic. The picnic had quickly turned into something else, something unexpected. But she was not worried. Her man and her friends were all more than able to handle whatever may come their way. And indeed they did, quickly defeating the apple enemies before she even had to do anything. Hans had cast a defensive spell around all of them, and she let the dark magic surround her like an aura.
"Don't think you can eat these ones too."
"They're too cute to eat." She protested, though the dark mage was already back on the move. It was different, watching him fight without his swords, but he had certainly grown in skills outside of handling blades. It was almost too easy, the way her allies finished the apples off. Verena with her golems, Hans and Valo with their sheer strength—she might as well be having a nice little walk.
"Alright...Perhaps we should refrain from eating anything else here, yeah?"
It was obvious whom the dark mage was referring to. Suna shook her head at the half-serious jest from him. "Don't worry, I'm not hungry anymore." There was still some of that nasty taste left in her mouth, effectively cutting off any desire to eat any fruit growing in this place. With Hans now leading the way, she followed suit, though she aimed to hook her arm around Verena first. "Are you hurt?" She gave her friend a swift lookover to make sure she was all right. "And don't do everything that I do, okay?" The elf laughed merrily before proceeding to the next area.
[ Area Cleared ]
Floor 1 | Area 2
The short forest path led them to a meadow. Not too big, but still lovely with its gentle rolling hills and tall grass waving in the slight breeze. This time, the blue-haired mage was more sensitive to her surroundings. She was not going to be caught off guard again, though depending on how adorable their enemies were going to be, she might still hesitate. Possibly.
She did not have to wait long, as she spied a flock of sheep not too far off. Sheep were usually docile…usually. But not these. As soon as the creature caught wind of the adventurers, they immediately started charging for them, their heavy stampede making the ground shake. Hans had called out a warning, and assuming that Verena had allowed her to take her arm before, Suna now let go so she could cast a spell to defend.
And, of course, she just had to trip at the worst time possible.
No one ever accused the elf of having good balance.
Scrambling back up to her feet, Suna was up just in time to see the flock reach the mercenary and trample him down. "Hans!" She could barely see the dark mage, but by instinct, she called her harp into her hand. Not only were there the crazed sheep, but also some of the stout apple guardians from before. Goodness, why was there such violence in such a beautiful place?
A Tempo. Her healing music reached out towards him, and at the same time, knocked all the surrounding enemies back by quite some distance. But they would just come running back, she was sure of it. Staccato. She also formed her pure aura into blue rocks, until they dotted an area all around the group. It was like a landmine, filled with innocent-looking stones and pebbles.
"Are you all alright?"
First one down, and he was asking if the others were all right. "Don't move, Hans," she called out in warning. "Let them come. They'll—"
Pooft! Pooft!
Two of the sheep-like creatures had come running back, straight for the dark mage still on the ground. But before they could reach him, they stepped onto the stones, and as her sound magic made them burst, they flew straight up, before dropping and landing back down on the ground, unconscious and blinded. Another pair of those sheep also came charging back at what they thought was easy bait, but was also sent in a glorious burst up into the air.
Flying sheep. It was not something she got to see every day.
It was a fairly passive-aggressive way of fighting, but she did not mind playing bait sometimes. Though now the last two sheep remained behind, hesitating and eyeing their fallen comrades warily. Guess some sheep did possess a few intelligent brain cells. The angry apples as well, though they looked like they had half a mind to fight.
Suna, still playing on her harp, carefully picked her way over to her beloved. Well, they could come. Let them come. They would not be able to come into her zone without suffering the same fate of flying up and then crashing back down to the ground. Or, Verena and Valo could still choose to fight them if they so wished. With her healer intuition, she had secured her area, and was going to make sure Hans was all right first.

Regretably, Morty has left site. And though I hope he'll return, I'm also not really in a position to keep threads going when it seems he'll at least be gone for more than a few days. Though I should make an official exit from an IC perspective, it would be forced and I just can't bring myself to do that given the circumstances.. I'll instead offer this half-assed OOC exit and hope to be able to complete this dungeon another time.
As she attempted to heal Hans, Suna grimaced as her stomach turned. It seemed like the apple was something more than just a rotten apple. It was giving her cramps, and the pain seemed to wake her out of whatever magic this place tried to weave over her. "I think...I need..." She winced, not sure how to put it in less crass terms.
"I need some privacy..." She waved a hand weakly back towards where they had just come from. "Nature's calling and I...be right back!" With that, she rushed out of the dungeon for the time being. She would be back later.
"When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back."
Hans brought his attention back to Suna the moment he saw her grimace. "Are you doing okay, Suna?" the dark mage asked with a hint of concern on his face. It didn't take him long to put it together that it might have something to do with that apple. Hans reached a hand out to his beloved but stopped the moment she started to speak up, saying that she needed privacy.
"Ah..." was all the dark mage could say after putting it together. He watched quietly as the elf scurried off, and once she was away from his view, Hans was close to letting out a light chuckle but instead shook his head. "Shouldn't have eaten that apple." he muttered with a shrug before looking over at Verena, remembering that she had eaten one of them as well. "Maybe you should keep an eye on her Valo...in case she ends up suffering from...similar effects." Hans claimed as he shifted his attention to Valo.
With that, the merc was off to make sure that Suna was doing alright.
This...was not exactly how Hans imagined that this picnic would go. But that "dungeon" still piqued his interest. Perhaps he should try going another time...when he's actually prepared.
