The Ravencrest estate, it was an… interesting feeling knowing that her family had moved here out past even the forsaken region but, another kingdom? It was more like a buffer state she supposed walking along the inner halls and running her hand on some of the interior woodwork.
”What are you thinking about? It looks serious hmm?” Salena, the spirit of salt hovered near her practically all the time now after they had found each other, that was one thing that had come from the estate moving to a place like this. If they hadn’t been out here in the first place she wouldn’t have even encountered the spirit. Although little had come from it just yet supposedly being possessed of even a minor spirit was something to be envied.
”I’m thinking about how we should proceed today, Lydia doesn’t seem to be calling in the generals to train us for now but that doesn’t mean I can afford to slack off.” She turned the corner of the hall towards the down stairs, she’d been falling into the trap of letting her mind wander from the goal oriented thoughts she’d usually be thinking if she was anywhere else, perhaps this place didn’t seem just like a ‘home’ yet.
”You mean when she gets those strong mages to beat you all up and then heals you so you can keep doing it?” Well that’s probably what it looked like if you preferred more traditional methods of training, still it was humorous that the spirit would put it so bluntly as ‘getting beat up’ as if she wasn’t getting stronger from it and if not stronger at least a bit more experienced. Waylynn shook her head and prevented herself from laughing, it wouldn’t do even if nobody else was watching.
”I suppose if you were to put it that bluntly, but it misses the essence of why training with strong mages is important. I doubt we’ll get better training than that.” The Ravencrest girl shrugged perhaps it wasn’t important to correct her companion but it felt strange if the spirit wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon that she would consider any part of the training unnecessary. They continued down the stairs and came out to the windows that were pointed towards the training area, she could see Hania in the area already. There was a brief moment where she wondered what the Ice mage would be doing, but the bird-like spirit that accompanied him caught her eye before she could make the obvious conclusion.
”Oh, looks like those two are about to try something. Hey, this might be fun after all let’s go bother them.” The little moth like spirit tugged on her shirt to try and pull her along like they would miss it if they just observed from far away.
”Yes, alright but I wish you wouldn’t say it like I’m going to be an inconvenience if I show up.” Waylynn agreed jogging towards the back entrance as the spirit cheekily stuck her tongue out of course she was trying to tease the salt mage. Still perhaps there was something she could learn from someone that Lydia trained often such as Hania.

[attr="class","haniascroll"]
It was nearing noon by that point but that hadn't meant that the heir of the Ravencrest family hadn't been active for hours by that point. He had been awake and training since before dawn, it was the same routine that he had followed since he was young and it didn't look like it was going to leave him any time soon. He knew everyone in his family was strong and gifted in their own ways even if many did screw up from to time but that didn't take away their strength any. He, on the other hand, had been adopted into the family and so believed he had to push himself harder to prove he was worthy enough to be within it, after all, he didn't have a blood tie to them. If that wasn't enough he was the heir to it and that also meant like his sister he needed to lead by example.
He had learned from when he started training with his sister that though she would pull her punches they were still going to hurt, she would make sure that he would learn from the mistake as to not make it again. He was sure that every bone in his body had been broken several times over each year, that he had several concussions monthly, and been put into a crator or through a wall at least once each time he trained with her. None of this bothered him, he could take the pain and learned how to improve himself so as to best serve his kingdom and family better. Sure, he wished he had more freedom and he had gained it within the Ryuutei but Lydia had been the one that had saved him, nursed him and raised him since he was six years old.
Training was normal before dawn he ran around the vast family estate several times, this was to keep his endurance and stamina up while increasing his speed. While he was doing that he had servants set up an obstacle course of sorts, it had two differing coloured floating pure aura gems around it where he would have to dodge traps while taking the proper colour signified at the beginning without touching the others and dodging any dangers that may come while getting to the end quickly. This was done from tree branches and was meant to train and improve his reaction times, he had the general known as Victoria Lilygate to thank for those traps being made. If the Lilygate weren't so closely allied to his own family and he didn't know the woman any better he would swear she was trying to kill him with some of the things on his trail.
Then this was the same woman that said that the weak shouldn't lead so he guessed if he did die then she would have proven her point. Carrion was a place were command was built on merit, and though he was the heir to his family he still had a lot of growing in that area to prove that if anything happened to his sister or if she was away on a mission that he was fit to lead their province. He'd get there eventually, he was to tightly wound and driven not to. Following the obstacle course, he would spar with Lydia or two of the generals sometimes more depending on their moods and that was before he actually ate anything. With all that out of the way he'd bathe to relax his muscles before eating and train in sword, usually a jian as he liked the weight of the weapon.
Today was a little different as instead of then reading in his personal library he found himself on the training platform, the spirit phoenix Amostia flying in front of him. The pair was fully unaware that they had been spotted from one of the upper windows of the family home, not that it would make much difference in all honesty. "You're stronger now." Amostia toled the white-haired teen "I'm aware Amostia, you have a point get to it." he said sounding frustrated. At current he wasn't wearing his normal flowing clothing but wore a simple white mandarin suit with silver threaded cuffs and ice blue snowflakes placed here and there so it was clear that he was there for training.
"Our bond is at complete strength, so, we should try merging my abilities with your own. It'll boost you temporarily but it will drain you afterwards so this is one hundred percent a incase of an emergency deal." The ice spirit said to him making the youth sigh, he knew this was going to come up eventually and so could only nod "So, how do we go about this." he asked, he closed his eyes as he felt the knowledge enter his mind and opened his arms hands flat and towards the sky as Amostia turned into particles of ice that seem to glitter and gleam around Hania. Hania himself opened his eyes feeling a new power coursing through him as he opened and clenched his hands a bit trying to get used to this new feeling. He hadn't even noticed that his hair now had ice blue streaks through it or that unnaturally coloured ice blue eyes were now glowing a celestial blue, even the temperature around him seemed to have dropped quite a bit.

They exited the building at nearly the same time, the spirit trailing ahead due to her flight but it didn’t really matter. Waylynn was outside to see it start in any case, the spirit merging with it’s partner, of course the ice spirit would cause a drop in temperature. It was quite a feat she imagined, something that you couldn’t just ‘do’ by virtue of having the spirit with you. It was perhaps something that any spirit could achieve but not outright.
”See I told you they were gonna do it.” The little spirit fluttered over her head in rapid circles somehow very excited. She still didn’t explain exactly what ‘it’ was but there was no need for her to as she was sure to get such an explanation as soon as she interrupted Hania.
”Yes I can see that they are indeed doing something, am I to take this as your implication that it is entirely possible to do so ourselves.” She continued forward towards the platform.
”Well, I mean we could but hmmm, not yet, I think maybe yeh you’re not strong enough, plus I’m pretty sure ya need to understand the relationship between people and spirits is and stuff. Eh I don’t need to get into it so much while it’s not even possible.” She clicked her tongue, Salena was too vague to give her any useful information, and too lax to care that she did. Well far be it from her to try and extract a clear answer from the moth, she would just have to figure it out later.
”Hania! She was perhaps ill timed, it was almost sure to interrupt his concentration but well, if a simple shout broke him out of it there was no chance that he’d be able to use such an ability in combat, so really she was doing him a favor if that turned out to be the case.

[attr="class","haniascroll"]
Hania looked to his hands and breathed slowly as he open and closed them a little, he was unsure if he would ever get used to this feeling. He was stronger, he couldn't deny that but it almost felt like he was inside someone else's body and was unsure how he felt about it. He was already feeling light-headed due to the experience but it was something he would have to put up with. He had no idea if that was natural for spirit diving for the first time or if it had something to do with him and whatever was going on with him naturally. He could feel Amostia but it was an unknown closeness, it was like they shared everything in that moment. The same spirit, body, mind, fears, regrets, happiness, joy and even memories. It was a surreal feeling and still, he honestly didn't like it.
It felt like there was someone prying open his chest of secrets and that was something he never wanted or needed to be brought to light. He knew Amostia had no sense of boundaries but he hoped that feeling his fear and knowing about his past would be enough to keep his beak shut on things he wasn't comfortable about talking about. He was brought out of his thoughts as he heard his name being called by a familiar voice. Without hesitation, he turned around and looked at his cousin Waylynn and smiled a little. His left hand went to his right as he bowed just slightly, staying with the Ryuutei had changed certain mannerisms he had. He was on the training platform which he would compare to their blood rings so the bow changed from his normal one to something more acceptable. "Are you here to take up my offer?" he asked the other as he stood straight.
When they had all been summoned for 'bonding' by Lydia which was really training he had offered to help his elder cousin in bonding with her spirit. He had been helped by Satori and so he wanted to help her, he could only hope her salt spirit wasn't as irritating as Amostia was. Even when she had called to him it didn't break his concentration, he would be weak-willed and feeble-minded if something like that affected him. Something no one within the family was even those who tended to screw up could be accused of and given his ranking he would be the ultimate screw up if he was the one to drop the ball. "If the temperature has dropped, I apologise if seems like a byproduct of this partial spirit dive." he explained to the other.
it wasn't as if he could really control it as much as he wanted to, this was very much a new experience for him. He beckoned her up to join him still completely unaware of any changes he had gone through physically or the drop in temperature other than how odd he was feeling. The former he couldn't see and the latter, well he was an ice mage he preferred it cold. "How might I be able to help you today Waylynn." his tone wasn't off but it would almost seem like a second voice was coming through with his own he noticed, he thought it might be because he had done something wrong or maybe it was because it was only his first attempt. He would have to practice more to know for sure, for now, however, he paid attention to the salt mage and her own spirit a smile ever-present on his lips.

It was cold indeed when they were close enough to have a conversation without shouting, from an Ice spirit though that was probably to be expected. He bowed when he turned around to greet her, it wasn’t exactly the type she was familiar with, she suspected that he had picked it up from somewhere and either hadn’t realized it or didn’t mind. It made her want to examine her own behavior more closely lest she start picking up other habits from her Squad mates but she set that aside for now. ”You’ve no need to bow to me at this point Hania, but I suppose saying that doesn’t do you any good. You guessed correctly though, I was going to find you either way but Salena noticed that you were about to do spirit drive training and considered it to be opportune to…” She trailed off as she looked up at the moth like spirit who was not only uncharacteristically motionless but also looking with a sort of serious expression.
”You’re a bit hesitant with this huh? That’s kind of a shame.” She had a slightly disappointed expression like she had some sort of expectation that wasn’t being met. Waylynn wasn’t sure what she meant by that though, it was probably something to do with mana or spirits themselves? It was clear she was talking to Hania though. So Waylynn focused on him again, the physical changes were obvious enough, the ‘highlights’ and the glowing eyes were a good indication that something was happening. ”Salena don’t be rude, Hania is holding the spirit drive pretty well from what I can see.”
Bleh, you wouldn’t understand even if I explained. I don’t know if someone like that could even teach you how to bond. But I suppose he’s got half way there… sure.” of course she was going to be obtuse about it, that was her nature after all. Despite wanting to help she wanted Waylynn to figure out the answers for herself because it promotes her growth more so she says. ”Well, ignoring that for now then, You did say you had some insight as to how to bond better, I think it’s obvious from that exchange Salena doesn’t exactly give me answers up front and just doing whatever she wants all the time would quickly become trouble for me.” She was talking about the small pranks that Salena did around the base with the Green Mantis, a thin layer of salt in someone’s bed felt like invisible sand or literally tying someone's shoelaces together. Honestly they were harmless but it wasn’t earning her any friends, it was a handful just keeping her out of trouble sometimes. She didn’t vocalize that specifically though so it’s not something that anyone outside the Mantis base would be aware of.

[attr="class","haniaimage"]❝I hear a song of woe shadowing our past in sorrow.❞
[attr="class","haniascroll"]Hania remained standing tall and regal as he normally was, he may have been away from home for a while but overall it hadn't changed him any. "Ah, the bow..." he chuckled lightly "I was living with the Ryuutei for a while, it is a common sign of respect between warriors within their blood rings. We are on a training platform so it is the same mentality for me I guess." he thought nothing of it, he was respectful after all. He had always bowed to opponents and realized that from his time away that this was the way people actually greeted one another, more so when they were fighting against or training with each other. He could of course have explained this was part of his birth heritage but that wasn't exactly his style. That life was behind him but just by how he dressed he still clearly kept a link to it.
"You are correct however, it means very little saying such a thing to me." he said, he was in no way condescending to his cousin, they just both knew it was how he was. "I am in the first attempts of partial spirit dive, it is quite taxing." he said to her the two voices speaking in unison from his mouth. He noticed how his cousin had stopped speaking his glowing celestial blue eyes going to the salt spirit that seemed less than happy that her expectations weren't being lived up to. "Yes, I am hesitant not that it is any concern of yours." he said his voice coldly his eyes semi glaring at the spirit that seemed to be judging him. "I do not care if you have been alive longer than I have been breathing, it gives you no right to judge me or the bond I have with Amostia."
It was clear that the spirit had tripped on a landmine in regards to Hania and he was having none of it. "I understand that a spirit dive is something many see as mystical as it gives you some of the strength of the one you are partnered with, but, it is also a great strain on the body of one who they are bonded with." As he spoke it started out with Hania being the primary voice but that changed to Amostia's voice being the primary as it was explained that it was taxing on the body to do it. "Or did you forget that one little girl." It was clear that Amostia was less than pleased that she was trying to push half the narrative on someone she wasn't even bonded to. Even if Selene wouldn't tell Waylynn the answer Amostia clearly had no such qualm.
Hania dashed forward without even holding a second thought, his speed had increased a great deal. It was something that he hadn't expected but he guessed it made sense given that some birds were indeed fast, especially when attempting to catch faster prey. Before the spirit would have time to react Hania would be right in front of her his eyes looking clearly like a predator in his otherwise relaxed form. "Birds eat moths." he warned "Oh and before you bring up that you will make my mouth dry due to being a salt spirit, ice melts." He was clearly taking none of the spirits nonsense. He didn't dislike the spirit because he knew they were a mixed bag, but he wasn't going to be told what he could and couldn't do because he wasn't comfortable in his current state due to reasons the bitch spirit didn't understand.
"I do not dislike you, but this is the first time I have attempted this and to have the unrealistic expectations of a spirit who seems disconnected to the one they are bonded to judge me just not going to happen." he explained moving back onto the platform "Bonding and spirit diving is completely different and you know it." he said as he stopped on the spirit "Growing a bond means creating a foundation of trust and understanding between yourself and the one you are bonded to. You don't even respect my cousin, she would honestly be better without you." Hania was now the one in control and looking to the pair "Yes, I've heard of the pranks that you have been pulling and where they are minor at current they can cause issues if you do it to the wrong person." He explained.
"Yes, I know you've tried to keep it quiet but a Ravencrest causing issues tends to become news even if it isn't the family member but the pest they are bonded to." He honestly hated having Amostia in his head because he couldn't really filter his own words and Amostia just had absolutely no filter whatsoever. "I've so far managed to quell it due to your spirit being young mischievous, I am aware I do not know her age but at least that way it is forgivable and can be swept under the rug." was it just him or did no spirit actually have any sense of boundaries and did as they liked regardless of how it could impact people. He looked at Selene over his shoulders "I know reputation and backlash mean little to your kind but even Amostia knows it means a lot to people like myself and Waylynn." he sighed for a moment.
"We are the ones who gain the backlash for the actions of yourself, Amostia or those within our families service. And where minor things can be ignored, however, if those minor things are continual it becomes a bigger issue and punishments are normally given. Screw-ups aren't really tolerated in this family if you haven't noticed." he explained beckoning them both onto the platform, he could likely help them while he was going through the aftermath of whatever this was going to do to his body when he lost Amostia's benefits. It was clear that Selene didn't respect Waylynn in her eyes and that Waylynn wouldn't call the spirit out on her bullshit that could be detrimental to not only the family but herself, it was about time boundaries were put in place and the foundation of trust started.

It was perhaps a bit unusual for Waylynn to see this particular mood of Hania, after Salena had managed to insult him and most likely by extension his own spirit. He was by all rights doing rather well with spirit drive and on the other hand even Salena was too distant to actually even start explaining what that meant. Waylynn hadn’t thought about it all that much, in the first place it had seemed a long way away but then when they stepped forward and swapped voices the moth-like spirit wasn’t the only one that was a bit startled. While she didn’t know what to say about it, her spirit was even farther at a loss for words sputtering half responses. It was a little more clear what she had been trying to do at least to Waylynn at that point, she was trying to be catty and it had backfired terribly. The salt spirit had gone to hide behind her even when they vaguely threatened her, it really was a strange thing wasn’t it like they were influencing each other. That was likely why Spirit drive was so difficult, mixing together but keeping separate at the same time.
It wasn’t as if they were just talking about things they didn’t understand either as Hania was demonstrating by bringing up exactly what she had been talking about before. ”Hey, you can’t just say things like that I’m not-” She sputtered some more looking to Waylynn for probably help in rebuffing them. It wasn’t going to work though not right now. ”He’s- They’re right you know, denying it doesn’t help and I did come to them for precisely that kind of advice.” The small creature deflated, drooping down and falling on her shoulder. She was easily swayed by the mood it seemed but it was small comfort knowing that she at least cared enough that her shortcomings being pointed out would make her sad. She had started muttering things to herself, clearly she wanted the improvement but was not only terrible at taking advice but was unhappy with the delivery of the information.
Waylynn on the other hand, simply didn’t understand much about the spirit she could observe of course but they didn’t exactly have the same mannerisms as humans and even that disconnect bothered her. She was getting the feeling from this that she was being overly permissive of Salena but still she wasn’t sure what to do with that feeling. Hania was warning her to be sure, and she’d be fool to ignore it especially considering his spirit was likely far older and he understood things to a much greater degree. ”Come on, Sulking about it isn’t going to make you feel better. Maybe think about what you say before you say it next time.”

[attr="class","haniaimage"]❝I hear a song of woe shadowing our past in sorrow.❞
[attr="class","haniascroll"]The glow faded from Hania's eyes as did the ice blue streaks as the spirit dive ended he breathed deeply, he felt like he had been winded even though nothing had touched him. He closed his eyes as he felt how the mana was flowing through his body, he knew there would be drawbacks in doing what he just had but he didn't know exactly what they were and so he needed to check everything. It was then he noticed his mana wasn't regenerating as quickly, that was going to be a bit problematic but he would have to find a way to be careful using his mana going forward until he felt more like himself. He had to admit his body also felt heavier, almost sluggish, that was something he couldn't really live with and wasn't about to check just how slow he had become with another around.
Instead, he sat down and looked to his cousin and her bonded partner "Please take a seat." he requested Amostia forming and perching on his shoulder. 'You need to keep your mouth quiet, you have absolutely no filter.' 'There is no reason to have one.' he answered through their bond, Hania's eyes going to Amostia glaring a little 'Amostia, we've been through that.' he sent back making the ice spirit click his beak, he knew that they made an agreement but he still didn't like it. The ice spirit turned his attention back to the pair who had hopefully taken a seat in front of him. "As I said Salena I do not hate you, I don't really even dislike you but you are out of control and my cousin will not tell you off to the point you will take her seriously obviously." he said to the spirit.
He looked to Waylynn "I am not meaning to hurt you with my words Waylynn, but you aren't working as one unit. She's acting like an impudent and spoiled Silva child and you are seemingly allowing it." he said his voice showing he was concerned about it. "So I will ask you one question, and, it's an important one..." he paused for a long moment looking between the pair "Why did you agree to be in a partnership with one another? Everyone, spirit and person alike have their own agenda's what was the reason behind yours?" he would ask them his eyes going to Amostia "Amostia here realized I was missing something and I was feeling at a segway so I requested that he bonded with me. I am the one who gave him his current name." he told them both as he stroked Amostia's breast gently. There was no big secret in how they bonded even though it had been somewhat impulsive.

Waylynn sat as instructed with Hania as the spirit drive faded. He looked... Drained, like the opposite of what he had just looked like even. That wasn't quite correct but it seems they weren't joking about the drawbacks.
There was an instinct in Waylynn to snap back at him for what he said, an instinct that would get her nowhere and accomplish nothing and so she quashed it. It would do no good to make biting remarks at family that would be no more true than the first thing that came to mind. Saleana absolutely wanted to argue about it but settled to only pout uselessly as she could no more hide from the truth than she could cast magic apart from her own element.
It was the next question that would catch them a bit off guard though Waylynn should have expected it with the way the conversation had gone so far. Saleana did not appear to be starting so Waylynn took initiative. "I would say that I felt responsible to watch her but if I were to leave it there it would be half of it. Truthfully I care but I desire the power and prestige such as the bond and it's higher forms bring. It does I have been perhaps unprepared or just not knowlagable enough to understand properly."
There was a moment where it looked like the salt spirit would interrupt Waylynn but seemed to think better of it on her own. She spoke after instead. "I didn't think about it that hard, she helped me first and it seemed fun to stick around... Am I really causing problems?" she asked a question that should have been obvious from Hania's past words.
