It was a few days after House Vermillion suffered yet another lost. Lady Emily had disappeared and was presumed dead. This meant something had to be done and a new Main House had to be selected. Taiyō was bored sitting there, waiting to find out more about what was going on and why it was taking so long. He was ready to go out on an adventure to discover things. The greatest thing about being gathered at the mansion was he got to see his cousin, Leo. Taiyō looked up to Leo as an older brother of sorts sometimes even though they didn't meet up as often as he'd like. Any time together was still a good amount of time for him though.
Taiyō looked up at his mother to ask her permission to go over to where Leo was while their father's were talking. "Mom, can I go over by Leo? I'm bored and I really want to get out of here but seeing that that's not possible, I could as well do something about my boredom."
"Sure but try not to be too loud or keep much of a racket. Actually, since I know Leo will keep you out of trouble, you two can walk around the estate but don't venture too far or else your father won't be pleased." His mother, Aiko, replied.
"Thanks, Mom." He gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek before walking over to where his cousin was. "Hey, Leo! Are you as bored as I am because I'm extremely bored and I want to go outside. I get how important it is for the family meet and have this important discussion of Main house but it's so boring." He sighed as he looked over to Leonard.

Leonard yawned, lazily loafing around the estate. Today was a slow day. Sky was clear, little to no clouds up above and just the right temperature. He could probably go outside and do something...or go back to his room and do nothing. His training for the week was done, plus his father was busy with family matters and beurocracy and all those boring things he really really couldn't stand. Sure he was a Vermillion, so he needed to care about appereances and stuff, but that didn't mean he would have to like it.
Walking up and down, he would end up in the estate's armory anyway. The young redhead would once again take a right then two left as he usually did when he was there...and there it was. That over there behind locked doors was the thing he was currently most interested in. His Grandfather's magical armor, passed down for generations. Even though it was just on display it didn't stop it from making the mannequin holding it look like an armored lion. From what his mother told him, wearing it would amplify the user's magical powers tenfold, almost to the same degree as to being linked up to a spirit and drawing unpon its powers.
Leonard wanted it. He wanted to wear it, use it and master it in his climb to the top...but he couldn't. Father always told him he wasn't ready yet. If he tried wearing it now he would find himself drained of all his energies and mana in an instant, he said. So there he was, training and training. Waiting for the day he'd be allowed to claim it as his own and become the strongest Vermillion - no - the strongest mage in all of Clover!
Shaking his head, Leonard realized that he had been daydreaming a little too much again. He could hear the tip tap of someone scurrying over to where he was. Turning around, a gloved hand raised to fix his hair, he saw a familiar tuft of messy hair round the corner and come over to him. His face brightened up in a warm smile.
"Well well well! Look who it is, Leonidas Taiyo Vermillion." He exclaimed, walking closer and ruffling the hair of the younger kid. "How you been, lil'bro?" He would add, greeting the other Vermillion. Truth be told...Taiyo was his cousin, technically, but to him he may very well be his brother. In fact, he was. They had been growing up together, more or less, even though they weren't always together. He could have figured he would be there, considering that uncle and aunt had come over to discuss stuff with his parents.
Leonard looked back at the gold and crimson lion armor one last time before giving a nod to the little guy. "Yeah sure. We can go somewhere I guess. I was about done sitting around. Wanna go outside to the gardens then or did you have something else in mind?" He would ask upon hearing Taiyo's intentions. From the looks of it, it seemed like their fathers would be in their business for a while. They definitely had time to go do something.

Taiyo was taken aback by Leonard calling him Leonidas. It was indeed his first name but he usually went by his second name, Taiyo. The name was inherited from their grandfather, Sir Leonidas Vermillion. As such, he thought he wasn't worthy of using the name of such a man. Their grandfather was not only a powerful mage but he was one of the great ones. Taiyo's 2nd name was the name his mother chose for him and as such he went by that. Even his father had stopped calling him Leonidas and started using Taiyo. The only person who referred to him consistently by the name was Leonard. Other than that, the only time he was called Leonidas by anyone else was when he really messed up and was in big trouble.
He looked to his cousin and sighed. "You know, only you refer to me as Leonidas. And what's with you calling my whole name like that." He looked away momentary until he felt his cousin's hand ruffled his hair, with Leo asking him how he has been. "If I am being honest, I am super bored. I know we are nobles and it's expected for us to make appearances when our parents talk about the house and stuff. I know it sucks that we lost another member but what is sitting down talking about it going to solve anyway?" His attention shifted to the lion like armor their grandfather wore as he instantly understood what Leo was doing there. They both had their bad habits. While his was adventuring in places he wasn't allowed to go, Leo's was staring at this armor. Maybe it wasn't that bad of a habit but Taiyo just didn't understand what watching it would accomplish.
He smiled lightly when his cousin suggested they go to the garden or anywhere of his choosing. Taiyo thought of instantly saying somewhere outside the royal capital which would probably result in them getting into trouble but he changed his mind slightly. He would suggest it but also give an unknown. Maybe Leo would agree and go adventuring with him. It wouldn't be the first time they did something cool and fun that was probably against the rules somewhere. There was a look in his eyes; the same look he had every time he would suggest something really stupid. "We could go somewhere outside of the capital if you want but other than that, I don't really have a place in mind. If we do go outside, I'm sure we could be back before mother and father and auntie and uncle notices that we are gone." He figured with how long it usually took when their fathers got talking about family politics and other boring stuff, they could easily go out on an excursion and be back before anyone notices. They would get to see beautiful scenery and fresh new sites. Excitement began burning up inside of Taiyo for the very idea of adventuring. "Also Leo, why do you refer to me by grandfather's name?" He looked to his cousin and crossed his arms. "I'm not worthy of such a name yet. I will work hard and one day maybe I could accept the name but for now I'm simply Taiyo Vermillion."

Leonard grinned, looking down at his cousin whining about being called by his full name. "You're so easy to tease, Taiyo. It almost isn't funny anymore. Almost." He would reply, folding his arms on his chest as well. So that was what this whole thing was about. Their parents were discussing internal house affairs. That would explain the reunion and the whole entourage around it. There were a lot more redheads around the estate than usual...perhaps it was something important. He had a few theories in mind...and really hoped that the most likely wouldn't be the case or he was about to have even less time doing the stuff he liked and more time doing the boring politic stuff he hated with burning passion.
Leo patiently listened to his little "sibling" whine about being bored and wanting to do stuff. Taiyo didn't even need to finish his sentences, he could read it in his eyes. The younger Vermillion once again wanted out of the estate and out of the capital too. At a moment like this, getting into any kind of trouble by scurrying off somewhere did not seem like the best idea ever. He could understand his cousin was dying to go outside, but with anything that happened around the streets, Leo couldn't help but think at all the stuff that could go wrong. Two vermillions out and about on the streets seemed a situation begging to get sour. If they got jumped by rogues things could take a bad turn. Not only that, but as much as Leonard deeply cared about Taiyo...the older redhead wasn't sure he was ready yet.
"Sorry, lil bro." Leo said. "Leaving the city's not the best idea. Especially if what I think our dads are doing is what I think they are doing. They might call for us at any moment." He would add, walking his relative out of the armory. "Perhaps we can go after you're a magic knight- Speaking of which, how goes your training?" Leonard shifted the subject to make sure Taiyo wouldn't insist much. He knew his little cousin had a burning desire to go out into the wild and do things, but he also knew that his own parents expected him to keep Taiyo safe. Well...until Taiyo was strong enough to do stuff on his own. "If you really want to get out of the Capital you should be training non stop to make sure you get into a Squad, 'cause that is your best bet to get your pops off your back. It's what I did anyway." Leo would add, speaking from personal experience. Becoming a Magic Knight was a good way to not have to deal with bureocracy stuff and the best way to walk out in the sun instead of sitting at a desk for all eternity. That was one of the reasons he himself became one, outside of his main goal to prove himself the strongest around.

"Why do you feed off of my suffering like that?" Taiyo sighed. "It isn't funny getting me all riled up!"
He held his head down as his cousin denied his adventure. "Aw man! You're no fun!" He whined. He really thought that Leo would have said at least just on the outskirts or something but he straight up turned the offer down. Well, Leo did make a valid point and their parents could call them any time even though he highly doubt they'd be call.
His cousin mentioned being a magic knight which reminded him about the promise he made the captain of the Crimson Lions to get stronger and fight him. It was what drove his daily training into overdrive. A small smile crept onto his face. "My training? Well, it's going great!" Filled with excitement, he started beaming. "Actually, last week when I snuck out of the capital, I came across this super dark cave and I used magic to illuminate the place! Was one of the coolest adventures I've been on. The scenery was immaculate! You should have seen it, bro!"
After his excitement, he listened to the words of Leo about training to get his parents off of his back. Maybe that's how his parents were with him but Taiyo doubt he would share the same kind of treatment from his parents. Who knows, maybe he would eventually. "I already have a spot secured in the Crimson Lions. The captain gave me the option of just coming in when I get my grimoire. Once that happens, I will fight him! It was a challenge he had given me back when he was just the vice captain. I can't let him down, I have to push past the limits and get stronger because only then can I truly become a Crimson Lion and a formidable opponent for the captain."
He walked to the doors and looked out at the radiant sun. "It's a beautiful day so let's not waste it. We can go to the gardens. Maybe have a spar or two or we can look for some sort of excitement there. What do you say?" The garden wasn't no adventure outside but it was still better than being stuck inside listening to their parents talk about family matters. Politics was a bit boring and he wasn't too interested in it right now but he knew one day he may have to be.

"Really now. You, fighting the captain? Now that is a spanking I cannot miss for anything in the world." Leo quipped, moving in a slow deliberate stride towards the estate's gardens. He was thinking back to his own run in with the Lions. Unile Taiyo, he had refused his reserved spot in the squad. He always wanted to prove he was worthy of the whole thing, so he had decided to take the exam like any other guy around the kingdom. Granted, he was able to pass the exam no problem, but to him that was the only thing that would make it all feel legit. Feel rightfully earned too.
"If we are going to scuffle, I'd rather change into something lighter and not as espensive as this." He motioned at his current getup, red silk poncho with gold trimmings over a purple tunic and beige pants. "Plus, I'd rather not have stains on my leather boots either when we go back in. I need to meet a couple of Silva for work and I really can't stand those snobnoses at all...even less so if they start going after my clothing choices."
Moving over to the garden, a huge terrarium neatly kept and continuously maintained by tireless gardeners, Leo signaled Taiyo to wait, letting one of the garden caretakers move past them with a bunch of tools in his hands and a bucket dangling on his waist. "If you don't need to change like I do, you can wait me here. I won't take much time. Once I am back we can see if what you say about your training is true or not. In either case, I still plan on kicking your ass." Leonard once again teased his cousin with a sly grin on his face. He did enjoy messing with his little would be sibling alot. Perhaps once he did become a magic knight he would take him with him to do stuff. Still though, he'd need a grimoire first. That was an important first step.
"Be right back, don't you dare run off somewhere unsafe while I am not looking. I already have my parents to deal with and they are more than enough for me.."
Post by Taiyō Vermillion on Mar 8, 2021 1:49:31 GMT -5
Did Leo really expect him to wait for him to return? He had to have known that his little cousin was the impatient type. Taiyō really hated waiting and would do anything to get out of the boring activity known as waiting. He started by tapping his foot and making audible noises ever so often. A very stupid idea popped into his head. Even though Leo said not to go wandering off into unsafe territories while he was away, Taiyō couldn’t help but feel a strong urge to. How could he not? He enjoyed adventure and exploring dangerous areas even though he knew he wasn’t supposed to. It was the thrill of seeing new sights and learning new things or maybe it was just the adrenaline rush but he loved the feeling.
”Since I can’t venture off, I could as well go see the rest of the garden while I wait.” He sighed and walked off, heading towards the center of the garden which had a statue of one of the former heads of the house, Silas Vermillion. Not only was Silas a great leader, he was very powerful and Taiyō hoped that one day he could reach the level Silas was on. He could remember the little conversations they used to have when Silas was still alive. He placed his hand on the statue and closed his eyes. He could see himself but an older version of himself, wearing the garbs of A Magic Knight. He then saw himself in a fight with Leo where he was winning. While in his imagination, he didn’t tap his foot or do any of his usual boredom quirks. He was calm.

Leonard quickly dismissed himself from his cousin, hop skipping and jumping over to his destination, hoping that his little troublemaker of a brother would not get himself into any kind of trouble the moment he changed into some more comfy training clothes. Arriving in his room, the young Vermillion would quickly throw his current outfit to the first available hanger. Then, moving to a drawer, he would need only to fumble around for but a moment to quickly find his quarry. Taking out the stretchy fabric, Leonard grinned. The thing was old, but it was stetchy enough that it still fit his body today. Sure, it was slightly tighter than most stuff, but he didn't mind showing off his muscles around. He did work hard to keep himself in shape and ready for any kind of brawn related problem. While it wasn't very fit for the usual noble to throw hands, he didn't really care much about that. If someone wanted to get it, they would most certainly get it.
Wasting no time, he would quickly shove himself into the stretchy yet tight bodysuit, making sure the accompaining zipper was closed up all the way. from there, he would grab the thigh lenght boots of the same material and wear them both over his legs before hopping off his bed. The rubbery soles squeaked lightly as he took the steps required to find a pair of fingerless gloves. He hadn't used the thing in a while, so his boots might be a little squeaky for the first few minutes before adjusting to his motions.
After making sure his signature yellow scarf was neatly tied around his neck, Leonard hurried up down the stairs toward the garden. He would find Taiyo there, thankfully assorted in his own fantasies while staring at Silas' statue. Wasting no further time, Leonard called for his little brother. "Yo!" the older redhead chimed, grinning. "Sorry for the wait, lil bro. I'm ready to kick your ass at your earliest convenience..." He'd further garnish his tease with a bow very similar to that a fencer would offer their opponent before a bout. "Would you like me to use magic this time?" He'd add. It'd probably be unfair to the kid if he did, but he could respect his resolve and courage. It was only natural. The blood running between them was the same. He wouldn't dare not honour his request to go all out should it be indeed his wish.
[attr="class","silasreescroll"]Taiyo turned his attention to his cousin who had returned after changing. He was wearing his regular training gear and carried that battle ready face. Taiyo grinned and waved. ”You finally came back!” He chuckled as he stretched a bit and jumped up and down since he was pumped. ”You speak as though you already won, don’t let past spars make you think you’re going to win this one so easily. I’ve gotten stronger since the last time we spar, even though that was just last week.” Taiyo was all pumped up and ready to show his cousin how much he had grown in a week. Even though to many it would seem pointless, to Taiyo and Leo, this was the way of House Vermillion. They settled things with spars.
[break][break]
His cousin had asked him if he would prefer the use of magic. What could he say about that? His magic was growing and he could use it effortlessly but neither of them had grimoires or spells. Even so, he knew Leo had 2 years over him and using magic would probably mean he would lose but even so, he wanted to be the best and that meant beating the best. The only way to get stronger was to train with those stronger than you, right? He had to prove his worth, maybe not to Leo but to himself. He was the type to push himself harder and harder each time. ”Let’s bring magic into this. Don’t go pulling your punches now, okay?” He smirked as he prepared for the fight. He would walk over to the Vermillion arena space and got into a fighting stance waiting for Leo to do the same.
[break][break]
As the match begins, he would rush in to take the first strike, using his sun power to shine rays of light in the way of Leo in an attempt to distract him with blinding light and glare. It was a strategic move and one that Taiyo had been working on. ”LEONARD!” He would try a spinning tornado kick as his opening move hoping that it would connect.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"]Leonard chuckled at his little brother's antics. At least by doing this little scuffle he wouldn't get himself into trouble. Stretching a little more, disregarding the light squeaking of his rubber soled boots, the older Vermillion would grin at Taiyo's decision to use magic and boasting that his strenght had increased. "Foolish little brother, how many times do I need to win before you yourself will learn your lesson?" He teased, following him to the arena where they could spar without incident.
[break][break]
While Taiyo said to not hold back, Leo would still pull his punches as usual. His was a deep bond with his little brother, so he did not wish to cause him harm. Still, this would be good stuff for training purposes. From the looks of it, Taiyo was going to become a Crimson Lion just like him. Leonard's arms would slowly start to heat up and melt, turning into molten lava. He would bare his "claws" at him and invite to get closer. He couldn't help it but let himself be infected by Taiyo's enthusiasm. He loved fighting.
[break][break]
When the kick came, Leonard quickly reacted and raised up his lava arm to block, letting the brunt of the force get absorbed by his mana skin. He would answer the blow with a kick of his own, thought the soft nature of his boot wouldn't cause that much damage outside of a sting of pain if it hit.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"]As their spar continued raging on, Taiyo felt outmatched. He knew he wasn’t able to stand up to his cousin and win but that wasn’t what matter, what mattered was that he gave it his all. This was the norm for the two cousins, A spar or a battle which resulted in Taiyo losing. Even so, his persistence and drive was admirable. Many watched him grow and fall and fail and yet each time he was met with disappointment, he got up and tried again and again. He was someone who would go down fighting and even then get back up and begged for more. He believed that if he kept on trying his best, one day he’d be good enough to beat Leonard and then have a try at beating his sister, Leona.
[break][break]
After taking the strike by Leo’s foot, he got back up and smiled. Is that all you got? I know you can do better than that, Leonard. Just as he dashed towards his cousin, his father walked between the two boys and ended the fight. Dad? What’s the deal? Igneus Vermillion lifted the boy up by the back of his shirt like a Lion using his teeth to carry his cub. ”From this point on, things are going to be different. The family has decided on who the next main house branch will be. There is much to discuss. Leonard, you should go meet your father in the family house. That will be all”
