[attr="class","silasreescroll"]It was another normal day in the Crimson Lions Magic Knight squad. There were people training, others sitting and chatting and people who were standing at the mission board trying to decide what they wanted to do. A bunch of standing around if you asked Taiyo. Pick a job and do it. Believing that was what to do, Taiyo walked up to the mission board and pulled off one of the jobs. As he read it, he saw the location. It was a mission to Sosshi village.
[break][break]
The atmosphere was quite different after the last Vice Captain left. Taiyo did indeed miss having the head of the Ravencrest family around. Even though she was terrifying, she was always there to help the young man with anything he needed. She had taught him the basics in sword fighting which resulted in the breaking of Taiyo’s right arm. Gosh, that was a painful experience but it was beneficial. It also made Taiyo wonder about what would happen in the next sword training session. What would she break next? It didn’t matter, the training was going to push Taiyo to becoming a better combatant.
[break][break]
Just by the fact that he missed her so much, he decided to write a letter, asking her if she would accompany him on the mission to Sosshi. He wasn’t exactly a poet but the letter did the job. It was informative and gave clear and concise details on what the job was. After sending the letter, Taiyo would prepare to make his journey. He’d grab a broom from one of the walls near the entrance and mount it. It wasn’t as flashy as many chariots that some nobles would ride in or even some cool looking broom idea that others would come up with but it accomplished its job and that was letting the Vermillion heir fly from point A to point B.
[break][break]
On arrival, Taiyo would look for the client. From what the mission had stated, it was a male in his late 30’s. Another thing that was given to identify the client was that he was a merchant which helped narrow down who Taiyo had to speak to. Even so, the search was quite wide as there were a lot of male merchants in their late 30’s. Luckily, there was a name signed; Laric. Given that information, Taiyo asked one of the merchants around for Laric. The merchant pointed out where Laric was and Taiyo thanked her. The young Vermillion mage would wait until he was joined by Lydia before moving to speak with Laric. Hey there. I am Taiyo Vermillion and I am here to help you. What can you tell me about what happened?
[break][break]
The merchant known as Laric looked at him with fear in his eyes. Even though the man could see a magic knight before him, the horrors he saw had him in a state of fright. ”Lord Vermillion, there was a monster! It was unlike anything I have ever seen and no one believes me. It was like a bull but it could stand and speak and it carried an axe!” Just speaking about the incident made the merchant sweat. His eyes grew small as he relived the moment. “It attacked me and some other people while I was out gathering new things to sell. I escaped but it killed the people with me. Please! Will you believe me?”
[break][break]
Taiyo reached out and touched the merchant’s shoulder in a way to console him. Do not worry, I believe you and I am willing to help. That is why I am here. Can you tell me a bit more about this creature?
[attr="class","florencetext"] It had been two weeks since Lydia had left the crimson lions. In all honestly, she hadn't done much within the Azure Deer since then. After all, a decent amount of her time was going to making sure her group of royal knights was ready for whenever they were sent to fight one of the three Archdeamons. The former vice-captain of course had taken some time to move into her new room at the Azure Deer base. Her room was also of course adjusted to fit not only her but Judgment as well. Which was no easy feat seeing as it was a dragon but at the end of the day it was done. The room itself was of course as bland as ever not having much in the way of extra things to personalize it. Honestly, her room had always been like this as she didn't feel the need to crowd her room with things that weren't needed as a magic knight. [break][break] Stuff like that was better left for the Ravencrest estate. She did however have two things of note in her room. That being a wine holder for her wine and a cabinet that only she could open that held two swords. Lydia was currently in her room reading a book while laying up against judgment when there was a knock at her door. The pink-haired royal would tell the mage to enter the room. It was another Azure Deer mage who would just hand Lydia a letter. Upon looking at the letter she was able to notice the vermilion family crest on it. Lydia would open the letter and quickly read over it. The letter wasn't the best written but it was enough to get the job done. [break][break] Seeing as Taiyo took the time to actually send her the letter it couldn't hurt to help him out. After Lydia let her captain know she would grab her great sword putting it on her back before quickly make her way to Sosshi which with it being Lydia didn't take all that long. She would look around the town for a bit before she found the heir to the vermillion family. What's this missed me so much you had to write to me? Lydia would listen as Taiyo talked to the merchant. It was clear whatever the man saw scared him almost to death. After the vermillion finished speaking to the man Lydia would ask her own question. So you say it looked like a bull would say it seemed to be almost as and if not as intelligent as a normal person? [break][break] The man would simply nod his head to Lydia. Hm I see could you tell us where you ran into this beast? "Of course Lady Lydia. It was just a few miles out of the town to the north." Thank you, Taiyo and myself will take care of the problem. Lydia would then motion to the fire mage to follow her before speaking to him as they got out of town. So based on what he told us it seems like we might be fighting a Minotaur. I've never seen one myself but I've heard stories about them and if they're true while dangerous we should be fine against it.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"]As Taiyo stood waiting for his former Vice Captain, he wondered if she would really show. Of course, he didn’t have to wait too long for his answer as she did in fact show up. On arrival, she spoke to him which Taiyo took her phrase as a teasing joke. There was something about the way she said it that made the young man chuckle. Yeah, you could say that. How have you been since moving to Azure Deer?
[break][break]
After speaking with the merchant with Lydia, Taiyo would walk with her as the merchant called out to them warning them to beware of the beast and not to underestimate it. Once they were moving in the direction that the merchant had told them about, Lydia would tell Taiyo about what she believed they were going up against. He too had heard myths and legends of such a creature existing and though he didn’t exactly think it was impossible, he counted them as just those, myths and legends. I too have heard of Minotaur but they were believed to be a tale. I wouldn’t outright say that they aren’t real and based on what Laric told us, it does sound like we are dealing with. I’m sure this will be no problem for you.
[break][break]
As they exit the Sosshi, the duo would travel the grassy plains together. It would be here that Taiyo would notice that the sword that Lydia always carried wasn’t with her. Hey Lydia, don’t you usually have Silas’ sword with you? How comes you don’t have it?
[break][break]
They would continue their journey until there was a thunderous howl. “All men will fear me! I will crush you all!” The beast had showed up and drew its axe. “You will not just face me, you will face us! We have you outnumbered.” As he spoke, multiple Minotaur showed up, surrounding the two magic knights. “We will destroy you.”
[break][break]
Immediately, Taiyo opened the clip that restricted his grimoire from hovering at his side. Once the book began floating at his side, it opened and started turning pages until it landed on his primary spell. Solar Magic: Solaris Illumination! Solar energy engulfed the boy before dissipating and forming at his palm. Focusing on the first Minotaur, The Vermillion heir fired his attack watching the beam fly at the beast. As the blast traveled, the beam sparkled and heat generated from the blast. Seeing an opening to use another blast, he fired it at a second Minotaur which didn’t take any extra mana from him. Both beams hit their targets which put a smile on the young Crimson Lions cub face. If they were going to fight with axes then all he had to do was stay out of their range and if he did get in their range, he just had to take them down faster than they could strike. As the blast dwindled and disappeared, both Minotaurs had fallen. Taiyo had defeated two of the twelve beasts like they weren’t even a threat.
[break][break]
How about that? You claim that you will destroy us but is that the best you got? I found that really underwhelming. Taiyo’s grimoire would stop glowing as he wouldn’t be attacking again just yet. He was waiting on Lydia to make her move. What kind of person would he be if he stole all of the fun, especially after inviting her to tag along the mission? Sure this wouldn’t even be a warm up for her but that didn’t mean anything.

[attr="class","florencetext"] As Taiyo asked his question the former vice-captain would just shrug her shoulders. I honestly just fully moved in. I would have done so soon however I've been busy with duties as a royal knight captain. So far however everything seems fine. Lydia would hear what the merchant said to the two of them however she honestly wasn't worried. After all, this should have only been ranked as a junior mission if they allowed someone like the vermillion to take it. Which meant someone like Lydia been here was overkill but hey she had nothing better to do in all honesty. Lydia would just shake her head as she listened to Taiyo speak. [break][break] Dragons are also just myths and legends as well yet I have a pet dragon. Remember Taiyo myths and legends are based on truths. I'm of course not saying all of them are one hundred percent true. As Taiyo finally asked about the sword on her back Lydia would let out a small laugh. Just noticed did you? Yes it's true I normally always have Silas's sword with me but sometimes I like to switch it up and bring this one. So I leave Silas back in my room after all there is no need for me to bring two. [break][break] While the glass mage was able to dual wield swords it wasn't her preferred style. The pink-haired mage would sense all twelve Minotaurs before the first one even appeared. She however didn't want to say anything in order to see however the vermillion would react. Besides from what she could sense they weren't a major threat that if Taiyo froze up would put him at risk with her being there. To the vermilions heirs credit he was quick to attack taking out two of them before getting a little cocky. Careful with that cocky attitude you only took out two. Not that it matters I'll take care of the rest. [break][break] With that the glass mage would take the great sword off her back holding it in her right hand leaving her left free. Before the third Minotaur could even figure out what has happening Lydia would already be in front of it. The creature didn't even have to think what happened as her sword quickly cut its head off killing it. The fourth Minotaur who was right next to the one Lydia just killed would try and attack Lydia with its ax. However, the light mage would catch the ax by its handle before stabbing her sword into its chest killing it. The fifth and sixth ones would try to attack the solar mage at the same time. However, the former vice-captain would throw her greatsword like a spear at the fifth one the sword stabbing into its neck killing it. [break][break] She would then throw the ax that she caught at the sixth one embedding the ax into the creature's head killing it as well. The seventh one would try its luck with its horns trying to stab them into Lydia. However, the Ravencrest would catch the Minotaur by its horns sliding back a bit as it was trying to keep charging. However, Lydia would then kick its left leg and a crack was able to be heard as its leg broke. She would then break off both of its horns stabbing one into its eye killing it and keeping the second one as a make-shift weapon. Lydia would then rush towards her sword but was blocked by the eighth Minotaur. The vice-captain however would just slide under its attack stabbing the leftover horn into its leg causing the creature to cry out in pain as it fell to the ground. [break][break] Lydia would then finish it off by snapping its neck before grabbing her sword eyeing the last four. Actually Taiyo you take care of two more.[\b] Minotaurs. As the ninth one ran at her and swung its ax at her she would easily sidestep it cutting the creature's arm off before stabbing her sword into its side hitting a lung and its heart as she angled the blade up killing it. Lydia would then quickly roll out of the way of the tenth Minotaur as it tried to hit the pink-haired mage with its attack. Lydia would then quickly counter with a kick to both of its legs breaking them. As the creature fell to the ground Lydia would grab it by both hands before using her strength to rip its head off. She would then walk back over to her sword picking it back up. That was the last of them let's head back.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"]In response to Taiyo’s speech on myths and legends, Lydia would give her insight using her pet dragon as a way to say that some of those myths and legends had truth to them. Seeing that she did in fact have a dragon was enough evidence to back up her claim. Heck some would even go as far as saying spirits were mythical but it was clear that they were real. Next up was Lydia’s response to the question about Silas’ sword. His eyes looked at her greatsword having not seen it before. Yeah, you’re right. There’s no need to walk with two of them unless you’re in fact dual wielding. Speaking of which, I think I want to learn how to wield two swords at the same time.
[break][break]
After taking down the Minotaurs, Lydia warned him about getting cocky. She then offered to take care of the rest. This was going to be a treat for the Vermillion heir. He was going to finally see what Lydia was like in actual combat against enemies instead of just training. Of course, he expected her to straight up demolish the other Minotaurs. Just as he predicted, they were no match for her. The third was beheaded before he could react. The 4th was also taken care of with Lydia catching it’s weapon in her hand. Taiyo had seen her do something similar when he first started sword training with her back when she was his Vice Captain. The 5th one and 6th one were killed by weapon throwing. Minotaur number 7 charged at Lydia only to be stopped by the horns. Taiyo heard the cracking of the bone before Lydia took the horns off and ended it. After taking out Minotaur number 8, Lydia would offer Taiyo the chance to handle two more of them.
[break][break]
Taiyo would smile and the pages of his grimoire would flip, heading to his next spell. Solar Magic: Solaris Fist! As he dashed at the 11th Minotaur, His fist would glow and glimmer while mana three times the size of his actual fist would manifest. Without hesitation the Vermillion heir would drive his fist into the beast, the force of impact killing it immediately while sending it’s corpse into the 12th. Before the 12th could recover, Taiyo ran at him while using the same attack to finish him. With all 12 of the Minotaurs dead, Taiyo would return to Lydia who had just retrieved her sword saying that they should return.
[break][break]
After returning to Sosshi, Taiyo would approach the terrified merchant and give him a reassuring smile. We took care of the beast. Actually, we took care of twelve of them. ”Twelve of them? That’s insane! Thank you so much, both of you. I can finally have some closure. Lord Taiyo, Lady Lydia, please accept this as a token of my appreciation.” Taiyo shook his head. No need to thank us. This is our kingdom and as such we will do anything to keep it safe.
[break][break]
The merchant smiled and pushed a small parcel in each of their hands. ”I insist. It’s the least I can do. Seeing no way to refuse, Taiyo accepted the parcel and then walked away from the merchant to where he met Lydia. Thanks for accompanying me on this mission, Vice Captain. I appreciate it. Taiyo didn’t even realize that he addressed Lydia as Vice Captain since it was so natural for him. Afterwards, he bid her goodbye and returned to The Crimson Lions base.

[attr="class","florencetext"] The pink-haired mage would listen as Taiyo spoke about how he wanted to start training to dual wield. In all honesty, the former vice-captain thought he was getting too far ahead of himself. After all, he was still relearning a lot of stuff. How about you stick to relearning the basics for now? Seeing as how the Minotaur's were now all dealt with there was no reason for the two to sick and around and would head back to the town. The vermillion would let Laric know the problem was taken care of. The man would of course thank the two knights. Lydia wouldn't say anything as it would have basically been the same thing Taiyo said which would have just wasted time. Which was something the light mage wasn't a fan of. Lydia also wasn't going to keep the parcel but she was sure Victoria could make use of it at least so it was a nice gift. Don't mention it also it's just Lydia now I'm not a vice-captain anymore. Also don't slack on your sword training you still have a while to go. With the goodbyes out of the way Lydia would make her way back to the Azure Deer base. [exit]
