The time where they will eventually have to face the Archdaemon Aamon was growing closer. Although, he could sense and feel it in the air how the time for the toughest battle of his life was approaching. Even though he couldn't see it with his own eyes, it was something that he could definitely feel. The rest of the members of his team probably felt the same. With the time coming, Charles knew that he was to be ready. The training with the rest of the Royal Knights was fine, but there were still many things that needed to be done. While he still had time, he knew he had to dedicate it to training, even if it was a big chore for the silver mage.
[break][break]
After several weeks of officially starting to training alongside his contracted spirit, Argenti. Charles had learned about the phases each spirit had to go through to unleash its full power. He was still yet to achieve the greater stage with Argenti, but with the lesser stage achieved he could begin to training his Spirit Dive, specifically, Partial Spirit Dive. It wasn't as strong as the Full Spirit Dive, but it was a step to get started. From what Argenti had told him, Full Spirit Dive could take months or an entire year for someone to obtain. He knew he didn't have that time, but if he could have access to its weaker version it could provide him with the power-up necessary to fight the daemons. It was a step, at least, he was going to learn it eventually, so if he could have something like that on his sleeve during the fight it could help out.
[break][break]
Charles had arrived in one of the many forests within the Common Region to train, a calm and quiet place where he knew it wouldn't grab the unnecessary attention of people was important to him. He didn't need to deal with unnecessary things, he had to concentrate and get things done. Now that he was in the right place, the silver mage turned to look at Argenti and spoke. "We're here... Now I think it's time to get that Spirit Dive training going." He knew what he was here for and wanted to get going. On a rare occasion, he seemed eager to get the training started, although it wasn't something he liked to do. It was a necessary step if he wanted to become useful. For the most parted, he waited for a response for his spirit so he could get a better grasp of what they were going to do.
[break][break]
"...Oh? This is one of the few times you seem eager to train. Very well then, since it can't be helped let's get started. First of all, as I told you, Spirit Dive is a fusion between the spirit and a human. Your body will take in a lot of mana, far more than you're normally used to, but your body has already adapted so you wouldn't die or get heavily injured." Argenti explained, Charles's previous training was fundamental in order to reach this. Otherwise attempting to enter Spirit Dive will be useless, her potential as a spirit wasn't partially unleashed back then like it is now. Going into spirit dive form would also help develop his abilities and help him get a grasp of the power. It would be good for him to at least have some experience before actually using it in real battle. That was an option she knew he would lean towards the most anyway.
[break][break]
With that out of the way, it was finally time to get the training started. A light began to surround the two as Argenti entered Charles's body for the first time. It was a unique and strange experience, he never had a spirit inhabit his body before. Just a second later he could feel the sudden surge of magical energy enter his body, as a silvery-white aura began to surround his body with sparks of lightning coming off every now and then as a byproduct of his lightning elemental oddity. Even then the aura that surrounded him was unstable as the magical energy that was coming off of his body was strong enough to make several leaves break off and even some of the smaller branches of the trees. It was strong enough to make the trees nearby move and it even made the birds fly off due to the sudden burst of energy.
[break][break]
A human fusing with a spirit, the result was the technique called Spirit Dive. Charles felt something he never felt before, he could feel the power around his body. He didn't even need Ki to sense it, but even then he could tell the amount of energy that was inside of his body. The Partial Spirit Dive had changed his appearance slightly, several strands of his hair had turned into a silvery-white color. A silver aura surrounded his entire body, with a few sparks of lightning coming off from his very own body. The silver mage stared at both of his hands in awe, the power he was holding was something no normal person would have access to. This was only achievable thanks to Argenti.
[break][break]
"This transformation is only temporary... Your body will only be able to remain in this transformation for just a few minutes. After that, your body will suffer the side effects. The two of them are called Spell Lock and Spirit Drain respectively. Due to the strain of the transformation, your body will weaken and you wouldn't be able to use your most powerful spells. So we should only use this as a last resort." Argenti explained, talking to him telepathically. Due to their connection, telepathy between the two was possible and she wasn't able to physically talk since she was inside his body. Although Spirit Dive was a powerful tool that could turn the tide of a battle, it was only a temporary transformation. At Charles's current level he could only last for a few minutes, but with training, he would be able to remain in Spirit Dive for longer periods of time. Due to the side effects of the transformation itself, it should only be used as a last resort. After all, once the Spirit Dive wears off the silver mage will find himself vulnerable to attacks and misuse of the technique could put his life at risk. The silver spirit knew that Charles was smart, smarter than he looked. So she knew he would only use it if the situation required it.
[break][break]
"Got it... I figured, something as powerful as this with little to no drawbacks seemed too good to be true." He replied. It was expected that a transformation as powerful as Spirit Dive would have such downfalls. The transformation increased his powers substantially, but it also left him vulnerable afterwards. If his enemy wasn't defeated by then, it would leave him exposed. Sure, he could distract them, but if it was someone skilled they'll notice right away he was weakened and would attempt to finish him off. He figured by now that this transformation will best be saved once they face up against Aamon directly. Since they would need all the firepower available to fight and take the Archdaemon down. "Let me get a full grasp of this..." Charles said, wanting to familiarize with the power of the Spirit Dive. A good way to start off and familiarize with his newly obtained power was by using some of his spells.
[break][break]
Charles extended his hand and aimed at one of the trees in the area. "Silver Shards." He declared as sparks of lightning came off from his hand and several small shards made out of silver came out of his hand and made their way towards the tree. The shards penetrated through the tree with ease, the lightning had burned the insides of the tree and all that remained was a hole in the middle of it. The silver mage was intending to reduce the amount of mana consumption on each of his spells, his mana pool wasn't that great and he knew that for a fact. If he could reduce the amount of mana consumption everytime he used one of his spells he could use more spells during combat while using up less mana. It was going helpful in the long run, considering he didn't have elf blood like some others in the Kingdom who were blesed with bigger pools of mana. Charles had learned his lesson, and didn't want it to repeat itself. The one time he was in a dungeon with Verena, he found himself fighting multiple enemies constantly which drained his man. He was forced to use multiple spells at once towards the end of the dungeon he to take some breaks because his mana pool was running low. That could've ended up costing his life if it wasn't for the fact that Verena was helping him with her golems. It was risky and it was definitely something he had to focus on, taking into consideration that he was planning on using the Partial Spirit Dive by the time he has to fight the Archdaemon Aamon.
[break][break]
The next thing he felt through the use of Ki was that his body had attempted to regenerate his mana skin, however since his mana skin wasn't damage it had nothing to regenerate. Perhaps, that was another side effect of going into Spirit Dive. His body had attempted to repair damage, but failed because there was no damage there to begin with. Charles wasn't a healing mage, so it was impossible for him to regenerate his mana skin unless someone personally healed him. It was well fitting, as a defensive mage, a Spirit Dive with defensive properties would definitely suit him.
[break][break]
"...Like it? I know you do, very few people have the privilege to fuse with me. Anyway...The Spirit Dive varies from user to user, our Spirit Dive has defensive properties."As a spirit, she was quic to notice this, it was fitting for Charles. As a defensive mage and her element's affinity was mostly focused on defensive spells, so it was expected. The two had achieved the initial version of the Spirit Dive, but the two still had a long way to go if they wanted to reach Full Spirit Dive. Which was far more powerful than its other counterpart. But, Partial Spirit Dive would do given the circumstances and how little time they had to train to face Aamon. So they'll have to use Partial Spirit Dive, it was better than nothing. Given the current situation, the silver mage would take all the power he could obtain before the time comes to get the daemon. If they manage to suceed in defeating him, then he would definitely try to obtain the Full Spirit Dive.
[break][break]
"I guess so, it is a strange feeling..." He could feel the energy surging through his entire body without a doubt, but even then it felt strange knowing that a spirit was currently inside his body. It was a feeling he wasn't used to yet, but at some point he'll get used to it he probably wouldn't tell the difference. The only thing he had to focus on was to get a better grasp on the form before he ran out of time. Charles should at least try to familiarize himself with it, so he would know what to do whenever he went up against the enemy. Unfortunately, he didn't count with anyone to spar so he could use Partial Spirit Dive in combat. The silver mage wouldn't usually want to fight, but right now he saw it as a necessity so he would know how to act in a real situation. Well, it was something that he would have to look into another day. Instead, focus on the matter at hand.
