[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]It had been two weeks after the family banquet known as The Feast of the Sun. Taiyo Vermillion, heir to House Vermillion, had been thinking about going on a mission with his cousin, Alva. He was sure that the Azure Deer Vermillion blonde would be excited about going on another mission with him. The first time they went on a mission it was a patrol through the town of Kikka which they ended up fighting off some bandits who tried stealing from a young woman. They were easily taken care of by the Vermillion pair. With such good work done the last time, the Vermillion red headed heir was ready to get out there and do some more good. He had heard of a request of some sort to deal with a cheesy problem. Apparently Cheese was being infused into magic monsters and had been plaguing restaurants all over clover. This would be the perfect time to call on the bubble Vermillion. Bubbles were made of water and that could help in this case. Taiyo’s magic ran the risk of melting the cheese elemental and having it splash out and burning others which was not a good idea under any circumstances. Taking Leona along was also going to be an interesting experience but she was still a Magic Knight and a member of the Crimson Lions squad. She had a right to accompany Taiyo on the mission. After all, she could use this mission to get back into her groove of being a Magic Knight.
[break][break]
Taiyo wrote the letter to the Azure Deer Vermillion and stated above everything else in bold MAKE SURE TO READ EVERYTHING IN THE LETTER, ALVA. Sure after last time he said that he’d read everything in the letter but Taiyo needed to be sure that he did or at least state so that the boy would attempt to read everything. The last letter carried the official Vermillion stamp and he didn’t even notice it but that didn’t mean that Taiyo wouldn’t give this one the official stamp as well. It was important that he did since all of his letters were to carry such a stamp.
[break][break]
The Letter: MAKE SURE TO READ EVERYTHING IN THE LETTER, ALVA. Dear Alva, I am requesting your assistance on an official Magic Knight Mission. The mission will take place in Babel. The client fears that he’s next on the target list of a cheese elemental problem. This particular issue has been surfacing recently and has been affecting restaurants that sell certain foods with cheese. Both Leona and myself are going but I think you should tag along, especially since your water bubble magic would be great in this situation. We are meeting in the evening around 6 at the entrance of the restaurant. That is also when they open. If any cheese elementals rise up, it would be our duty to destroy them while protecting the citizens. Hope to see you there. Sincerely, Taiyo Vermillion | Heir of House Vermillion. Under his signature, he put the location of their exact meeting spot so that the Azure Deer Vermillion wouldn’t be lost.
[break][break]
Once the letter was done, Taiyo stamped it and sent it off. He grabbed his sword and made sure it was well polished for the mission, not that he would need to use it. Thing was, it was better to have it when he needed it than to need it and not have it. As he prepped for the mission, there was a knock on his door. Come on in. With the invitation, the door opened to reveal his sister. “It’s good to see that you’re taking mission prep seriously. Anyway, I am heading off to the Crimson Lions Base if you need me. Just wanted to let you know that you better not be late or I’ll smack your teeth in.” She grinned as she stood with her hands on her hip. “Wait, did you tell Alva that he better not be late? Regardless, if he is then I get to smack some sense into him.” She cackled a bit before releasing a happy sigh. “Anyway, you know where to find me.” She turned and left before Taiyo could even speak.
[break][break]
When it was time to go, Taiyo grabbed his broom and flew over to the entrance of the restaurant in Babel. As he arrived, Leona arrived at the same time wearing her Crimson Lions mantle which she hadn’t been seen in for 4 years. She looked like she did 4 years prior. Taiyo could see why people would be confused if she went out since they looked so similar. Taiyo waved. Hey big sis. She grinned at him and waved. “Looks like you’re early. Now where is Alva?” Taiyo shrugged. I hope for his sake he’s not late.

[attr="class","noahtext"]Alva was reading a book in his room in the Azure Deer headquarters, feeling little homesick. The Feast of the Sun turned out to be more impactful than he would initially expect, and seeing all his family together made him realize that he actually misses them quite a lot. He still wouldn’t want to change squad, but meeting like this more often than once in a year would be great. Watching outside of the window, being casually distracted just like he usually is, he heard a knocking on his door. Quickly rushing, as it might have been Lydia or anyone else from the squad, he opened the door with anticipation only to find a man holding a letter that had his name written on it. “Oh! It must be Taiyo.” His cousin was pretty much the only one who still kept on writing letters to him, and while Alva found it nice, he really wanted to learn some communication magic, as it was much faster and practical. Quickly ripping out the cover, only to get the wax from the Vermillion seal scattered on the ground, Alva started reading with interest. [break] The first sentence was tailored specifically for Alva, another person in his life to remind him to not get too distracted. If it only were that easy though. The young mage made his best effort to read through the whole letter, but found himself too distracted as he had to laugh a lot, up to a point where the tears would get in the corner of his eyes. The overly formal style that Taiyo used when writing letters, combined with the fact that they will be fighting cheese was sure to fit for a hilarious situation. “Typical Taiyo.” He said for himself, while still chuckling on the idea of three Vermillions fighting some enraged cheese elementals. This mission sounded fun, certainly less serious than when they were catching the bandits, however, Alva noticed that the mission was ranked as intermediate rank, which was higher. “Oh, I can´t believe the cheese would be actually that dangerous.” He still took it lightly, as there were a lot of things about this whole situation that hardly made any sense. Setting aside the whole program for the rest of his day, Alva would quickly pack up all the necessary things for the mission, and that was his Bubble Pipe, some water, and food for the long road.[break] Bubble mage hasn’t been in Babel by himself, but heard wonderful stories about the city, as it was rather a mysterious one. Hoping that the amount of magical energy wouldn’t overwhelm him, he rushed out of his room to get in front of the headquarters. Taking a flight on his broom wasn’t certainly that entertaining, but it was still the fastest way towards the goal. While in the air, young Vermillion could finally finish reading up the letter. Taiyo included the map, which was extremely helpful as he could just navigate better with it. He was an Azure Deer after all. It surprised him that Taiyo found him fit for the job, mainly cause his offensive abilities were rather… explosive, however, it was still a great chance to do some good as a Magic Knight and meet his family at the same time. [break] Finally, having sight of the majestic tower Alva knew he was close. So far, no pressure from strong mana had come, and Alva thought it was a good sign. Of course, he could sense it, but it wasn’t a negative feeling. He himself never really wanted to be a scholar, but could only imagine what sorts of interesting things they all do here. This was probably also a reason why there is a rampage of walking cheese on the streets happening right now. Quickly navigating the map, he could pinpoint the location of his cousins and when he saw their vibrant red hair from the distance he smiled. It was great to be meeting them again, even if he will be welcomed by a punch from Leona. [break] It didn’t take long until he finally landed, just a couple of meters next to the Vermillion siblings. His first intuition was to check on the time. If he was late, it was probably okay for Taiyo but he knew that Leona was different. It was 10 minutes until six o´clock and Alva just exhaled with calmness. He probably won´t get shouted at by Leona. Soon, he would just walk up to the heir and his sister, waving in a friendly manner. “Hey, you two! I have to admit I laughed so hard when I found out we will be fighting cheese.” Just the pure idea of this had made him chuckle once again, and while he tried so hard to stay cool, it was just too funny to even be real. He was already imagining Leona smashing some running cheese, and this thought had kept him entertained for way longer than needed.

[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]As the siblings waited on Alva, Taiyo looked up at the sky which was calming. After all, Taiyo was not doing much and he rather did that than look at Leona with impatient eyes. Luckily for himself and Alva, the latter showed up and greeted them. He also added the fact that he laughed hard when he figured out they were fighting cheese. Saying it like that was indeed funny but at the same time this was a serious job. ”Get serious or I will make you. Yes we are fighting cheese but this isn’t just any normal cheddar, swiss or the sort. This is magic cheese that attacks people. If you let your guard down, people will be hurt then I will personally have to hurt you too for allowing what seems like fun to affect the mission.” Leona had a serious face aimed towards her younger cousin. Surely he understood the seriousness of the situation now, right? Well if not, Leona would be sure to show him just how serious. ”That said, don’t underestimate the cheesy beast. If it deems us a threat, it will try to burn us with, well, its cheese.” She took a moment, knowing how stupid it sounded but then looked at him stern again. “You have water magic, just make sure you use it to keep people from getting burned. Get creative with it.”
[break][break]
With Leona all serious, Taiyo got serious. He was already semi-serious at first but now he was fully mission focused. Let’s show this food how we Vermillions throw down. No one should get burned and these cheesy Monstrosities will be burnt out. Now let’s go have a food fight. That said, Taiyo entered the restaurant followed by Leona and hopefully Alva. The place was empty aside from the owner and the workers who were still preparing for their customers. Due to the fact that this was a requested mission, the Magic Knights were able to enter and have a seat without being told that the place wasn’t open quite yet. Even so, the ambience was nice. It was calm which was a great contrast to the potential chaos that was coming if the cheese creatures got out of hand. The owner of the establishment approached the three Vermillions and smiled. “Thank you for taking this job. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.” Leona shifted her serious gaze to him. ”Don’t be ridiculous. We are Magic Knights and this is our duty. Any job we take is for the betterment of the Kingdom and that in itself means that we are to put its needs above our own. That said, no job that we can assist in is too great of an inconvenience for us. If a job was inconvenient we would just not take it. Don’t mistake my words for saying that we would ignore a job either. If a job needs to be done then we will do it.” Taiyo was shocked that Leona just took charge like that. Sure she was the eldest but in these situations it was usually him that spoke. Her words were pure truth. They were able to do their jobs without it feeling like an inconvenience. That was their duty. “Thank you for your kind words, Lady Vermillion.” The owner bowed and smiled. “Feel free to order anything you like.”
[break][break]
Taiyo wasn’t hungry. He had eaten a decent enough time prior to arriving. Leona also wasn’t hungry as she did the same. If Alva wanted to, he could order anything. Heck, Leona would even pay for the younger Vermillion. I am quite alright but thanks for the offer. The owner nodded and looked at Leona who smiled at him. “I am also alright however if Alva wants something I will handle the cost.” This left room for the blonde headed water boy of the Vermillion family to order. If he did order, The owner would note it down to which Leona would smile digging into her pockets to pay. He’d refuse the payment telling her that it was on the house but that would fail since she would insist that he took the money. Sometimes there just wasn’t any winning against her. She was extremely stubborn and more times than not, unmovable.
[break][break]
After an hour, where patrons were inside the restaurant eating and having a good time, A screech would be able to be heard. The sound of something wooden falling coupled with glass would also be heard. Taiyo and Leona were in ready position with their grimoires out. Taiyo also went an extra step and had his sword drawn. The workers of the kitchen ran out as 3 Cheese Elementals came out after them. Looks like it’s here. Let’s get to work! That said, Taiyo’s grimoire flipped it’s pages until it landed on the spell he was going to cast. Before he called the name of the spell to cast it, Leona spoke. ”Let’s try to keep them away from everyone so that when spells start flying no one is in danger. The best thing would be to lead Cheez-it and his brothers outside.” She grinned and looked at the cheese elementals. ”Oi, Ugly. Let’s tangle!” Getting the attention of the Cheese monsters, she led them away from the civilians where the Magic Knights would be able to take care of them without risk of hurting innocent bystanders. Once it had followed her, it threw Cheese at her. ”Oh no you don’t!” Her grimoire opened and she immediately casted her spell. ”Fire Creation Magic: Spherical Infernus!” With the mana being focused on her feet, Leona moved and dodged the cheese before firing the ball at one of the Cheese elementals, the one she named Cheez-it. With Taiyo’s spell ready, he too casted it. Solar Creation Magic: Solaris Sphere! The dark surroundings of the outside were flushed with light as all around Taiyo got brighter. He held both his hands out at the cheese elemental and fired a ball of solar magic that looked very similar to Leona’s ball of fire magic. Both attacks successfully took down 2 out of the 3 elementals. Taiyo fired an additional ball at the last standing cheese monster, eradicating it. Just like how I like my cheese melted.
[break][break]
Unfortunately for the group there were three more elementals. These ones didn’t hesitate in coming after the Vermillions since they were responsible for the vanquishing of the other three. They started screeching and growling at the trio before setting its sights on Alva.

TL;DR: 3 elementals spawn, they follow leona outside, leona uses Spherical Infernus which deals intermediate damage to elemental (destroying it), Taiyo uses Solaris Sphere which deals intermediate damage which destroys his target, per ammo rules Taiyo fired another one at the last of the three destroying it as well. 3 more elemental spawn and set Alva as their target

[attr="class","noahtext"] Alva was trying his best to act serious, as Leona requested. But the whole situation just seemed… so cheesy. He would still occasionally chuckle at the whole idea but made sure to hide it in front of his older cousin. After all, he could still have good laugh without being punched in the face. Or at least he hoped so. Once the three of them entered the restaurant, Alva just sat without much talking as he was observing the whole situation and utilized his sensory skills. It was still soon and the restaurant looked quite cozy. Once the waiter came, Alva would be once again reminded that he is from a higher noble family. People acted very differently when he was hanging around with Taiyo and Leona and he just wasn’t really used to it. That said, he didn’t mind it at all, it was just weird. After being offered food, he would just smile and refuse politely. “I will just have a glass of water, thank you, good man!” He smiled and then turned back to his cousins.[break] Afterward, the atmosphere in the restaurant was quite calm. The three of them didn’t really do much besides talking and being prepared for anything. During this whole time, Alva would try and not to laugh out loud, and he was doing a great job at that. He was really looking forward to seeing those cheese monsters though. Once people started coming in, the tension was slowly building up. It didn’t take long before the elementals emerged from what he assumed was the kitchen. Leona commanded to take them outside and this was the time when Alva really couldn’t resist a loud chuckle. “How are you expecting me to not laugh when you call them Cheez-its!” With this, he would follow the Vermillion cousins outside, where the actual fight broke out. [break] What was the issue with these elementals though? He couldn’t really imagine how they could hurt someone. They were a literal cheese infused with a bit of magic. For all it seemed, they would make a great meal. Alva was at first spectating, mainly because he was really intrigued with Leona´s fighting style. During the combat, Alva felt like her character had been showing the most, prideful lion ready to take on any challenge. Fierce and scary. He was certainly glad that he wasn’t a cheese elemental himself. He wasn’t sure what exactly there was to do, as the two siblings kept melting all the cheese away with their heat-based magic. Meanwhile, the only thing he could do was to make sure that the melted cheese doesn’t touch any of the citizens. He wasn’t exactly sure why someone wouldn’t want to be drowning in melted cheese, but he still did that as it was what mission required him to do. [break] “Great job you two!” He said as Leona and Taiyo managed to take out three of the elementals quite fast. “But be careful, you are melting them everywhere!” He shouted as he tried to gather some of the melting cheese in his hands. He wasn’t originally hungry, but boy that cheese looked really delicious. The idea of Leona smacking his head however didn’t, and therefore he didn’t attempt to eat it. Instead, he noticed that three more elementals appeared and they decided to attack Alva. He was the closest to them, so it made sense but he wasn’t quite sure what to do. If he decided to attack them, the explosions from his spells would just cause the cheese to be all over the place and he didn’t want that.[break] He wanted to think faster, as the cheese beasts were approaching closer and closer. The fact that he couldn’t really focus on the combat right now was also partly caused due to the funny puns that his cousins were throwing around, and while two of them probably didn’t have problems fighting and having fun, Alva was so distracted that he ended up being cornered by the three elementals. “Hey! I am in a cheesy situation right now! Help please!” He shouted, hoping the two of them would notice that he in fact got caught by the elementals. Two of them were holding his hand, so he couldn’t really move or use his spells. Who would have expected the elementals to be this strong? He was trying to fight, to get out of their grip. However, his physique wasn’t the best, and the cheese monsters were in fact stronger than him, how humiliating was that.

Followed Taiyo and Leona outside, attempted to clean the mess after melted elementals and in the end got caught by two elementals, asking for him.
[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]The conflict began and fast to act was Taiyo and Leona. They lured the cheeze elementals outside bringing Alva with them to minimize the damage and potential dangers the elements were to the civilians inside. While trying to take the elementals outdoors, Alva commented on how hard Leona was making it for him to stay serious with the nickname she gave the beasts. Granted it was a hilarious pun but the situation was serious. What was she to do? ”You’re lucky that you’re practically complimenting me and calling me funny. Or were you saying that I am a joke?” She’d flash a glare his way before grinning again. ”Just kidding but you better get serious or else I will make you wish that the cheese was dealing with you instead of me!”
[break][break]
Having brought Cheez-it and his elemental brothers out to the open, Taiyo and his older sister took care of them like an oven would, burning and melting the cheese only more into oblivion then the oven would. It was pretty smart of them to bring the cheese elementals outdoors as their attacks to take down the Cheese monsters caused the cheese to splash a bit. Luckily no one was in any danger of being hurt, save from Alva who could protect himself with Water Magic. The oldest of the three had no fear of the situation and all faith in the boy. To her, he was more than a jokester or a mage in the family, he was her younger cousin and that meant that she trusted him to be ready for the job and situation. Additionally, if he were to be in any danger, she would dash towards him to protect him. The other person on the job was her younger brother who was the head of the family. That alone was enough to let her know that he could take care of himself, right? Well aside from the comfort of that, she could tell how much he grew over the years and how hard he worked in the squad seeing that he wasn’t a junior mage anymore.
[break][break]
Leona turned to Alva as he congratulated her and her younger brother on a job well done. From what she could see, the boy had been watching and observing them as they went toe to doe with the pizza like cheese monsters. She wasn’t mad at him as she knew he wasn’t quite an offensive or battle type mage. He was more a recon person and had an array of cool spells to cover himself. ”You’re welcome. I was wondering if you’d join in at any point but seeing how quickly we dispatched them, there was no time for you to join the fun, Sorry!” She gave him a huge confident grin as she watched him.
[break][break]
On the other hand, Taiyo was leaning against the wall coolly. He knew that Alva looked up to him even though the boy was older than he was. Guess that was what happened when you put a lot of work in and work hard as not only a mage but a political head in the family. Thanks, Alva. Be sure to learn from watching how we do things. Even though you’re not a combat mage, you could benefit from having a few attack spells in your arsenal to use. Sometimes the best defense is a swift and decisive offense. You want to make sure your opponent doesn’t have a chance to take you down or hurt others. You could use that on a recon mission if you find the targets and there is no back up and they are going to hurt someone. Always remember that. With a big smile, Taiyo gave him a thumbs up.
[break][break]
”Well, well, Taiyo. I didn’t know you were so good with words. But here we are so that’s good. Color me impressed.” Impressing Leona was no easy feat. Even so, she wasn’t impossible to impress and impressing her would put you in good standing in her books. She was vastly disappointed in her brother when he let insubordination happen at a family function but at the very least it wasn’t entirely his fault. She had all plans to challenge him for the seat of the heir of the family and she was going to take it from him by force. She didn’t exactly want the paperwork or the title but she knew that the experience of working so hard for something only to have it stripped away would be something that would ultimately push the boy beyond his limits. She knew he would be devastated but it would only be temporary. Her brother was not a quitter and he would pick himself up and become twice as strong or even more. That was who Taiyo was. He was someone who always got back up and tried again.

Her attention was switched to Alva as he observed the cheese from the monsters and picked it up. The way he was looking at it was like he had planned to eat the melted cheese. This caused her to lightly glare at him. Before she spoke she watched him drop the pile of cheese he had picked up. She grinned and walked over to him, towering him and looking down at him like a lion would look at their prey, a huge grin on her face. ”Good choice. I thought I’d have to smack you.” The orange aura coming off of her as she looked down on him would make any little kid cry and scream in fear. That was the whole idea anyway. ”Now, let’s stop messing around and get going!” She turned and was about to burn away the remnants of the monsters when she heard the screech of the other three who had come out to attack the destroyers of their kind.
[break][break]
Setting their sights on Alva, they moved in. When the boy hesitated, the three monsters cornered him and took hold of him, trapping him. The one that seemed to be the leader threw a ball of flamed cheese at the boy in close range, hitting his torso dealing intermediate damage to the boy. They screeched as the leader was preparing to strike again.

Seeing that his little cousin was caught, Taiyo’s grimoire opened immediately. You shouldn’t have done that. SOLAR MAGIC: SOLAR STREAM! The area outside the restaurant got extremely bright as Taiyo’s feet began glowing with celestial colors. He drew his sword and dashed at the elementals, cutting off all of their hands in a bit of a flash before kicking the one on Alva’s right into the wall that he was leaning against, watching it go splat. ”FIre Creation Magic: Spherical Infernus!” Leona didn’t hesitate to fire the fireball at the elemental that burnt her little cousin. She was furious! As it connected, she threw another at the one that was left while Taiyo grabbed Alva’s hand and dashed him out of danger. The cheese boys were all gone, leaving Alva, Taiyo and Leona with the remains of the cheese elementals. Without any words, Leona used her fire to evaporate the cheese into nothing.

The oldest Vermillion walked over to Alva and folded her arms. ”Kid, are you alright?” She was more concerned for him than angry. Luckily for them, Lucia was a good healer or else she’d take him to a healing mage and force them into healing him. Seeing that he was mostly okay, she sighed before smacking the back of his head. ”That’s for letting your guard down and giving us a scare. Now let’s get you something to eat and then let’s get home. I can see that you are hungry from what you were doing.” If he accepted her offer, she would take him inside and let the chefs get him something and the owner would let them have it on the house. If he refused, the trio would go inside and report the mission as complete before heading back to the Vermillion Estate. Alva would have no choice but to go there as Leona was making sure that Lucia took a look at him.
[break][break]
On arrival, Taiyo went for Lucia and she would come out to see them. Seeing the slight burns of Alva she would open her hands. ”Bless.” On whispering the word, her hands would glow aquamarine. She laid her hands on the area he was struck, healing junior rank damage as well as restoring 5 mana if he lost that. While healing him, she looked to Leona and Taiyo to see if they needed any healing themselves but the other two were fine.
[break][break]
Taiyo grinned as he looked at Alva. Once you rest up and feel better, let me know. If you ever want to go on more missions let me and Leona know. I’m sure we would always love to go on missions together if possible. He then turned to Lucia. Thanks Lucia for healing Alva.
[break][break]
”You’re most welcome, Taiyo.” She smiled as she continued to heal the boy.
[break][break]
Leona would give the boy one smile. ”You didn’t do too bad. Just make sure next time you don’t get caught. Have a good night. I am going to go turn in the mission at The Crimson Lions HQ. See you soon, Alva.”
[break][break]
When everything was well, Taiyo and Lucia bid Alva farewell before going to their respective rooms. Taiyo would have a long chat with Cyra about the mission and what happened before heading off to bed.
