[attr="class","shadowsHead"] What's in ones nature
With the “death” of the last scarecrow and the destruction of all four totems, you can clearly see vines retreating out of the straw men and retreating into the ground. While it is now clear that the scarecrow were merely vessels for something and that the totems were important to “something”, you decide to go to the only place where they might have originated from: a small patch of forest that is only a short walk from the farmhouse itself. Upon arrival, you see the crows sitting in the trees, as well as the wolves that are encircling you, though none of them attack as they merely watch you. When you finally arrive in a small clearing, you spot a large tree that has been decorated with the bones of animals, effectively turning the whole thing into a large totem. From behind the tree, a tall and imposing figure emerges, who attempts to speak to you in a broken version of the cloverian tongue. “Land… is… mine” and “Man… break… home”, as well as other difficult to understand ramblings.

Maximum Number of Players: 4 [break]Minimum Word Count: 3500 [break]Location: Forsaken Region [break]Special Requirements: Upon finding this strange creature, you have a choice to make. Option 1: Kill the young Leshy, kill its host of woodland animals willing to fight and die for it and destroy the old tree behind it. For as long as the totem remains, the Leshy can return to life and continue its antics. Option 2: Hear the being out, doing your best to make sense out of what it is saying. When you piece things together, you learn that the farmer has been gradually destroying more and more of the Leshy’s forest as the hunters he hired kill his animals. Adding insult to injury, the man also stuck an axe into its totem, proving the man to be aware of the creature living there. Take one of the smaller totems hanging from the tree and return it to the farmland to let the Leshy take its revenge and eventually rebuild his forest. Doing so requires you to fight the farmer and his hunters.

Health Limit: Junior [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Junior [break]Magic Element and Types: - [break]Combat Style: These rugged looking crows are fierce attacks, the speed at which they move around in flight making them fairly tough to hit while their pecking and their sharp talons can cause some painful wounds. [break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these crows being active at night is weird enough as it is as they are not known to be a nocturnal species. Flocking about and seemingly watching those from atop a barn or a fence as they move around the farmland, they bide their time and wait for the right moment to swoop down and attack in large numbers.
Health Limit: Intermediate [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Intermediate [break]Magic Element and Types: - [break]Combat Style: As can be expected of wolves, these beasts attack in ways that benefit one another. As one might make a mock attack to draw attention, another will move in for the kill by going for the throat, an artery or the Achilles heel of any warrior: the Achilles heel. [break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these wolves come in three different colors, which is by itself quite odd. Some of them are brown, some are grey while others are black as soot. Capable of disappearing into the ground and reappearing not too far away, it also possesses very sharp claws that can easily rend through flesh, bone and most armor with ease. [break]Additional Information: Appearing as a two meters and twenty centimeters tall individual that easily towers over almost anyone it encounters, the Leshy is quite imposing. Wearing a dear skull and pelt over its head and shoulders to hide any facial features it might have, this forest spirit appears to be mostly made out of wood and plants.

[break]Additional Information: Having expected that there might have been a small chance someone would actually side against him, this former magic knight has prepared himself by hiring the same group of hunters he’s used to harass the Leshy. Wielding large knives with which one can quickly gut a man, they are not to be let in close, for they will not hesitate to slit your throat.

Walking back towards Griswold, the rogue noticed that he had also managed to destroy his totems. It probably was four in total, and when they were destroyed that signaled the loud roar coming from the forest. Which meant it was finally time to figure out what all this was actually about, the duo managed to piece a few things together but none of it was the bottom line. Hearing the Solarian Wolf speak Jin nodded and then followed it up with a frown. "Awwe noo dryadss?" he said disappointed that he wouldn't get to see the creatures that the swordsman had mentioned earlier. He was looking forward to running into that kind of creature, and adding to his list of adventures.
"But if it sounds more dangerous than a dryad, then it should be even more interesting." Jin said with a smile on his face. The rogue was eager to see what could be causing all this trouble, and finally put an end to this long night of mystery. Looking around the vines of the scarecrows crawled back into the ground, confirming what they already thought. Something was controlling not only the attacking animals but the scarecrows too. "We're you attacked by scarecrows as well?" Jin asked Griswold randomly seeing the defeated lifeless hay stacks on the ground. He started comically poking them with his spear, as he watched the roots go back into the ground.
After just a few moments, Jin started to walk towards the forest. Walking in the same direction he saw the roots go in. "Lets get to the bottom of it then." he said to Griswold. It wasn't a long walk into the forest before the crows started to make their appearance, their black eyes never leaving the duo walking in. The more steps they would take, the more crows started to appear. Then the wolves started to encircle them, but none of them attacking. They just kept to snarling and standing their ground, watching their every move. Eventually a small clearing came into view, in the middle of it a large tree that was covered in various animal bones. Making the tree itself into a large totem almost.
The white haired rogue looked quite surprised by all this, this was something he had never seen before. But what came from behind the tree really sent a tingle down his spine. A very large imposing figure standing easily at two meters tall, probably even taller. A large deer skull and pelt was draped over it's head hiding it's face. Jin whispered over to Griswold. "This has to be scarier than a dryad." Jin was ready for a fight if their needed to be one, his spear by his side and his guard was up but he didn't adapt an attacking stance just yet. As whatever this creature was didn't seem to want to attack them for now.
“Man… break… home” the tall imposing figure managed to state in a broken but understandable tone. Jin was not surprised by this though, he figured this was the worst case scenario. This beings words just confirmed what he already had thought was going on, still taken aback though by the whole appearance of this creature.

“I assume you’ve heard that roar earlier, as I imagine most of the people near here must have. That’s not the sound a dryad would produce, as much of their language is performed telepathically or through whispers, and I doubt any of them have the vocal capabilities to release such an outcry.”
Being quite confident in regards to whether or not this was the work of dryads, the only things they had in common with all that was going on around here was the fact that both this creature they were dealing with now and the dryads were tied to nature. Controlling roots and trees for offense and defense, the whole puppetry angle was not something he had ever seen before, though he had seen how they used magical means of befuddling the mind to make loggers attack one another. So in the sense that whatever this thing was checked the box of using natural means of attacking and being capable of controlling the minds of others, or at least the woodland creatures likely living around it, there was a very solid chance that they were a related species. In a way, it made him almost anxious to meet it, what with his level of respect towards nature.
Feeling like respecting nature was a subject that was just lost on humanity as a whole, he felt only the elves respected nature in the sense that they built either around or with nature in mind, while the dwarves built so far underground or along the side of mountain ranges that they couldn’t injure it even if they wanted to. Hell, even the witches lived within the trees of their forests. It just went to show that humans did not respect the planet, that they only cared about their own greed and expanding their holdings without any kind of regard for the things that existed there long before they had moved in. Truth be told, there were times where he just wanted to point his sword towards society and go about destroying whatever he could, giving the place back to nature and establishing some clear boundaries that were not to be built upon under any given circumstances.
“I was actually, though it just proved what I already knew. The scarecrows were just that, dressed up stacks of hay with gardening tools, no threat whatsoever. It was the creature controlling them with a system of roots that was the real threat.”
Though it was something Jun had more than likely already figured out on his own, it was still something he wished to point out if for no reason other than to show that he had also noticed. Since people often took Griswold as a less than intelligent person, mostly because they did not understand half of the things he spoke of when he bothered speaking at all, he imagined it might come as a relief to Jun. For as they ventured into what was left of the forest, which was still a good chunk but nothing like it used to be before, Griswold could sense life all around him. Going further than just seeing leaves on trees and flowers on the ground, it was clear that there was an abundance of it, and that it had been clustered here. Seeing the animals around ranging from hares to deer, from crows to wolves and even a bear, they were all watching them with eerily clear eyes, as if someone was watching through them.
Not seeing the need in telling Jun that this was all far from normal as the animals that were used to eating one another were now just standing next to one another or in one another’s vicinity like they were neighbours, it was not long before they reached the most peculiar looking tree Griswold had ever seen. Well, second to the talking one with a face. Covered in bones and the like, he noticed there was a logging axe sticking into it. When a truly large and imposing creature walked out from behind the tree that seemed more like a totem than anything else, it looked at them through what seemed like the hollow eyes of the deer skull it wore as a headpiece. Not having the faintest clue as to what this being was aside from the fact that he could not sense its presence at all, Jun claiming this thing was scary was an understatement. But when it spoke to them, Griswold knew exactly what it wanted.
“I understand you, woodland spirit, it seems the humans have taken much from you. Is there a way we can resolve this without having to shed blood?”
Not moving nor flinching, the large creature just continued standing there, almost looking like a lifeless statue. When suddenly its hand moved, sounding like the creaking of branches in the wind as it pointed towards the axe that was stuck inside of the totem tree. Clearly wanting them to either remove it or to point out that the people who had logged down this much of the forest had also put it there as a means of taunting the creature, the whole thing was quite infuriating even to Griswold. There was no doubt about the fact that the people responsible for this had brought the fury of this creature upon themselves by destroying its home and even going into the heart of what was left to stick a weapon into what was undoubtedly important to it. Looking towards Jun for a moment with a look that made it clear that he was no longer on the side of the humans in this, his gaze went back to the creature as it spoke.
“Put under… their home… take back… was stolen from…”
Reaching to grab the axe, it removed it from the totemic tree, which seemed to have the bark restored the moment it did. Holding the axe in front of it, the steel head of the axe rusted so fast that it deteriorated entirely, falling to the ground like snippets of what it once was while the handle began to warp and churn. Picking the small skull of a bird from the tree and placing it in its hand with the handle, the two separate objects turned into a single one. A new totem. Holding out the large hand, or rather the large three digited claw, Griswold reached out to take the totem from it. Sensing no hostility towards them from the being as he could not even sense that the creature was standing in front of them if it weren’t for the fact that his eyes could see it. It crossed its arms in front of its chest before sinking into the ground and disappearing.
Though all of the animals were still around them, watching their every move, they stopped standing around like statues, going about their separate ways while still keeping their eyes on the intruders and not letting them do as they pleased. Showing the totem to Jun, it was time for them to talk about what was going to need to happen.

- Flashback -
A few hours before Jin made his way to Liston's farm.
The stark silver-white haired rogue was walking into a small building, two guards were guarding the entrance and once a few words were spoken from Jin they stepped aside and let him enter. Jin's demeanor was calm and his facial expression was pretty plain. Walking into the room he was greeted with a middle aged man wearing dark and grey armor sitting behind a desk, and a group of three men standing behind him in similar colors and armor. The man sitting at the desk had a frustrated look on his face, while the three men were busing sizing up Jin. Compared to them covered in armor, Jin looked out of place. But there was no hint of nervousness on his face whatsoever.
Eventually the man behind the desk sat back in his chair and looked at the rogue dressed in all black. "His name is Liston and you have his location. Can we trust you to get it done?" he asked Jin simply and straight to the point. Jin smirked before he answered "Given the specifics yes, I do believe I can get it done."
"Remember him and his goons don't need to die. Just make sure they are roughed up enough, to not want to return to this region. If it ends in blood so be it, but thats on you." the leader of the group said before tossing Jin a bag of yul that was about the size of his hand. Jin caught the bag with his hand same smile on his face. "Yea got it."
- End Flashback -
Jin and Griswold were not face to face with some kind of ancient forest being, that not only looked horrifying but also spoke their language. He never would have thought his night would turn out like this. Originally he had planned to get paid for two jobs, he fully intended to figure out whatever was bothering Liston's farm. But after that he was going to force Liston and his goons of men out of the forsaken region for another side task he had taken. He thought of it as knocking down two birds with one stone. But it seemed the night would sort of play into his favor, though in a very peculiar way.
Griswold wasted no time communicating with the forest spirit, Jin just simply watched from behind. This was still all very new to him, so his guard never went down. But it seemed they weren't going to be fighting this woodland creature, or his animal friends. The tall creature eventually moved it's long limbs and pointed to an axe that was lodged into the totem tree. It seems that is put there on purpose as to taunt the creature, that wasn't every nice. Jin had done his fair share of taunting, but only when he knew they were about to die or they were already dead. But all this made sense and now they knew the exact reason for all the weird attacks on the farm. Liston had done it to himself, he had made quite a few enemies it seemed like.
With the look Griswold gave Jin, the rogue already knew the decision he made. A smile was on his lips and he gave a subtle and small nod to let him know he was with him on this. Not really because of the woodland creature and Liston's poor decision making, but because he had another job to complete. Though even the rogue could admit, he felt for the spirit even if just a little. Griswold removed the axe from the totem and it rusted into nothingness almost. The creature then made a new totem that Griswold had taken, and after that it simply disappeared into the ground beneath them. "Sorry about the crows from earlier, I didn't mean it!" Jin shouted as the leshy sunk away.
The other crows and wolves that surrounded them started to back away slowly. Jin looking around turning his head back and forth. "Sorry about your friends, they scared me." Jin said to the animals making their exit. Now it was time to head back to the farm, as they started to head back Jin started to say. "I should let you know, our friend farmer Liston also had some friends with him. I didn't mention it before since a farm usually needs helping hands. But they didn't look like the nicest of people. Liston also had a limp in his walk, it would suggest that he had big leg injury." Jin warned Griswold, not that he needed it. But it didn't hurt to let him know.
Making their way back to the farm, Liston was outside as if he was waiting for them to return. The look on his face was cold and serious, behind him was six men each one looked eager to draw blood. They were probably rogues like Jin, but they were far from alike. Jin was just simply far better at his job. Now his true intentions were not to kill Liston, if it happened he could careless but he had to be careful because he was working next to a magic knight. A very powerful one at that, so he couldn't risk the spill of blood. Although he was sure Griswold did not like these men for what Liston did, he was still magic knight at the end of the day. And his duty was to protect them and Clover, at least that's what Jin though for now. "Welp the decision is made."
"Ain't no talking, just get rid of them." Liston had said to the six men behind him. They each pulled out long blades and weapons, and started to run towards Griswold and Jin. The rogue felt pretty good about the numbers. "I can handle most of the hired men. You can go after the magic knight gone bad. but it's not like you need the help anyways." Jin said to the swordsman, with a chuckle.
The white haired rogue started to spin his spear between both hands, it glowed as he begun to channel it's magic and activate a spell. "Infinite light rain." four blades made of light magic were created and started to encircle him. From what he could tell the six men were not mages, but they were trained and they were pretty fast. Almost to fast, and Jin wanted to slow them down a bit. With a swipe of his arm Jin controlled the four light blades to shoot forward targeting the legs of four men. Each one hitting their targets, effectively wounding their legs slowing them down for a few. Jin then decided to move in, he swung his spear with the blunt bottom end of it. Smacking the first hunter in the face, with the damage from the blade and spear it was enough to knock him out. Jin wasted no movement proceeding to his next target doing another swing and striking another one in the ribs knocking the wing right out of him. That was two down now, there was four left. But he wanted to give himself another advantage. "Flauros." the name of his spell subtly left his lips, not did this spell increase his speed but it casted an illusion of multiple copies of the rogue in a ten meter area distance.
So now none of the hunters could tell which one was the real him, as a collection of near perfect copies were throughout the field. One of the hunters that was struck with the light spell, tried slicing one image he thought was Jin. But the image simply faded into blue mist, but an elbow quickly struck his temple coming from the rogue. The other hunter that was struck was able to pin down whom was the real Jin from the attack, and started to run towards him a knife in each hand. But a swift dodge from Jin was more than enough to avoid, and an open palm strike to his solar plexus knocked him down cold. And that left two more to deal with.

For as hard as it was to believe that they had just witnessed a nature spirit and had lived to tell the tale, even getting away entirely unscathed, it made him wonder as to what they were supposed to be doing next. As this totem he was holding was brimming with natural mana, and would likely need to be buried somewhere near the farm for the being to take back their land and restore the forest that had been chopped down, he knew that the totem had made Liston’s wife sick. At least that was what supposedly happened, as the two could have been entirely unrelated and they’d never know about it. Wondering how the man was going to be taking the news once they returned to the farm, there was no doubt in his mind that they would certainly be meeting with some sort of resistance as these people were not known for taking bad news well.
More than that, he had seen how these people acted before, being willing to annex new territory without having to think twice about it, as more land meant more money. But whenever they had to give some of it back for whatever reason, it was not a subject worth discussion as it was simply not going to happen. Unfortunately for Liston, the man was going to have to listen to them once they made it back to the farm. Because at the end of the day, he was more than just a single person that had been adopted in what almost felt like hero status among the people of the forsaken region. He was a magic knight, and the way he looked at that job meant more than just catering to high society and following the law to the point where his job would have been restricted. His job was to look after the wellbeing of the country, and sometimes that meant looking at the wellbeing of the land itself rather than that of one wealthy individual.
So as they left the forest behind and began setting foot on the farmland again, it turned out that Liston had wasted no time in rounding up his men and waiting for them to return. Making it likely to believe that they would have been welcomed back with open arms if they had done so while carrying the head of the woodland spirit, Griswold could sense that there was more going on here. It went to show that Liston had known damned well what was going on here, what they had been dealing with this entire time and what he had done to trigger the creature’s ire. More than that, but he had willingly sent them in to fight against enemies that he knew about, potentially getting the both of them killed against such a highly unconventional enemy. That alone was a punishable offense, and one Griswold was more than willing to mete out.
When Griswold was about to speak up to the man, he was rather shocked to learn that the man was not interested in speaking to them at all, saying it was pointless to do so while instructing his men to take care of them. This went to show how sheltered a life the man had been living, because if he believed a bunch of loggers and hunters were going to take him doing so easily, he was sorely mistaken. Besides, given the steps the man had taken were grounds for capital punishment, which allowed Griswold to put them all to death right here if he felt so obliged. But seeing as how he wanted to step away from the idea some people had down south that he was nothing more than a person who wanted to kill nobles and anyone affiliated with them, he wished to at the very least try to bring them in alive.
“I see, that is most unfortunate. I had been wanting to speak to you about returning a portion of your yet unused lands to be returned to the forest, especially since you willingly put the life of a mercenary and a magic knight in danger by refusing to share the details and your involvement with the case. But by adding attempted murder to the list, you just forfeited all of your holdings, and your freedom.”
Preparing to go about and kick some teeth in, Jun told Griswold that he could be the one to take down the former magic knight himself as he would be capable of taking down the men Liston had surrounded himself with. Nodding in agreement, he held himself back from going straight towards his own target. Feeling like it was informative to witness how the guy fought, it was clear to see from the start that his weapon was a magical one that utilized light, capable of creating blades he used to pin several of these men in the feet and reduce whatever mobility they might have had to some degree. A clever move, one he could attribute to hunters of beasts and men alike. The other spell however was one that came from himself rather than himself, one he called “Flauros”. Not having the faintest clue as to what it meant aside from sounding like flourish, its effects became clear soon enough.
Completely masking his mana signature as copies of himself started forming across what would soon become a battlefield, Griswold narrowed his eyes a bit. Thanks to his own Ki, he was still very much capable of following where the guy went, even if his mana had been muffled to keep people from accurately tracking him. A useful trick to be sure. Using it to more elegantly maneuver the fight in spite of having to take on superior numbers, the men not knowing which one of them the real one was made it quite difficult to pin him down. Especially for those that did not possess any magical prowess that was in any way noteworthy would face quite some difficulty with this means of attack. Beginning to walk past the men and the illusions as they began taking one another out, Griswold made his way over to Liston himself.
Due to whatever leg injury he had sustained, it was not very likely that he was going to run away from Griswold, so he himself made no attempts at rushing over to him either. As the hired muscles were felled in battle around him, it did not take a very long time before the farmer had realized the error in his ways. So as the fight continued, Griswold showed the man the totem he had been given. As Liston’s eyes widened, likely because he knew quite well what this all meant, the black knight was not about to let the man talk over him as he began a plea bargain. That said, it was also the only bargain he was going to be able to strike here, as further resistance would lead to the man getting beaten up and imprisoned, or maybe even killed if he were to take things too far. But it was up to him from this point forward.
“This totem will reclaim the land you have annexed for the sake of expanding your farmland, but that will be it. If you’re clever, you will lay down your weapons for the sake of your wife, who might still be able to make a life here. Do the right thing, as I will give you this chance but once.”

With his illusion spell still active, there was still exact copies of Jin running throughout the field. There was still two of the six hired hunters left, both with long knives in each of their hands. Jin had just knocked out four out of the six with not to much effort on his part, the big difference in their abilities were the fact he had access to magic and they did not. It was an unfair advantage, but most things in life we're unfair. But from the looks on their faces they had no intention of giving up or stopping the fight, that was silly to the white haired rogue. At this point they had to know they were completely outmatched, and had no way of victory. And given the circumstances was it worth the incoming pain? They could surely save themselves from a few broken bones, and cut muscles if they ran away. Not that it mattered much to Jin, but it was quite curious. The rogue stabbed his long spear into the ground, as he was no longer going to use it for this fight. All the copies did the exact same thing, as him.
"Looking down on us huh?" one of the hunters said gritting their teeth, his eyes darting back and forth between all the clones coming from the illusion. The other started slashing at the images in a wild frenzy like state, he was obviously over the entire thing. "You mages and your fancy magics! I'll kill you! For looking down on me!" he shouted as his frenzy continued. It was a little amusing to say the least, but the hunter did have some impressive speed on him. When it came to just the physical attributes he was pretty decent, Jin would give him that. The white haired rogue used his own superior speed though to dash in, landing a viscous punch to his stomach causing him to keel over. But as soon as that happened the other hunter rushed in to strike Jin right at that moment, it was an impressive move! But the rogue was to quick and to well trained for such tactics to work on him. He quickly grabbed the body of the hunter he just punched and turned it to him, hoping it would stop his incoming slash. But it did not, the hunter continued knowing he was going to hit his partner instead. Slashing him across the back hoping to get to Jin, the rogue looked rather surprised. The slash on his back was deep, he was still alive but he hurt badly now.
"You would strike your own partner?" Jin asked him with a calm tone, it wasn't that he cared for him. But things like this always rubbed him the wrong way. "Who cares as long as I kill you!" he shouted coming for another slash, Jin quickly swayed to the side and dashed in landing two very quick blows. One to the gut and the second to his throat, causing him to drop down coughing gasping for air. He wasn't getting back up, Jin's face was unamused. He didn't expect more out of them, but he thought they would be better at least to each other. They gave rogues a bad name. Jin ended his illusion spell after the fight was over.
"Shut your face! I don't give a damn about that totem, or whatever the hell that creature is! I payed my dues! And now I take what I deserve!" Liston shouted back at Griswold not accepting his words. It seemed the farmer and former magic knight had really gone mad, he wasn't even listening to logic anymore. He should give up right then and there, but he refused. Was it pride or just plain old stupidity. Maybe both. "I don't care who either of you are, especially you. You’re from the Black Bulls squad, haha they’re a joke. The lot of them have always been full of magic knights that weren't capable of being part of a real squad. You think I would listen to someone like you? Don't make me laugh and how dare you mention my wife! I'll end both of you with my hands!" Liston started to shout out loud.
Jin turned over and his face had a comical expression on it, he thought Griswold would have dealt with him by now. But that wasn't the case, the rogue went over to grab his spear from the ground and twirled it resting it on his right shoulder. The hunters were not much of a challenge at all, even though they were quick they lacked magic themselves. Liston was different not only did he have access to magic, he was a trained magic knight. Fighting him would prove much more challenging thought the rogue, Jin rubbed his naked chin and thought for a moment. He would like to test his skills against Liston if he were being honest with himself, Griswold would be able to face him and win with little effort. Just based on what Jin could sense from the two mages right now, Liston had to be able to tell the difference between them unless his sensory skills were that poor. Or he didn't care at all.
"Liston my friend!" Jin shouted while waving at him in a very lax and carefree way as if the tension in the air right wasn't very high at all. Walking forward till he was just a few steps ahead of Griswold facing the farmer and former magic knight. Jin was about to speak to the magic knight, he still had to give the man a beating of course. But maybe it didn't have to be so one sided with him facing Griswold, them facing each other would be much more of a fair fight. But before he could even get a word off, Liston activated a spell sending three long spears made of crystal at bothe Griswold and Jin. The rogue had barely managed to dodge out the way, looking a little surprised by the farmer actions. "Well if thats how you want it Liston." With a flick of his wrist from his left hand, Jin sent all three blades made of light at the farmer. The spell from his light spear was still active, hoping to end this quickly. The blades wouldn't aim to kill but immobilize him. But Liston was a crafty mage, he quickly erected a thick wall made of crystal to block the attack! Then followed up with his own, slamming his foot on the ground unleashing pillars of crystal heading towards Jin!
The rogue did a series of backflips avoided the attack and slid back when it was finished, with a snap of his fingers he ended his light spear spell. While useful and relatively quick the spell from his spear were weak and they would in no way get through his defenses, even if they did they wouldn't cause enough damage for it to be vital enough. He wasn't going to kill Liston, but he did have to hurt him enough to give all this up. His magic attack did seem strong though, they didn't lack power from what he could tell. Reinforcing his mind to not get hit by one.

Description: Flauros is Jin's first illusion using the void. It is like his other beginning spells rather simple in concept, but was improved upon over time. Pressing his middle fingers and ring fingers together with both hands and utilizing void energy, Jin is able to create exact clones of himself and his allies throughout the battlefield tricking his enemies sight. That when attacked simply fade away into a dark blue mist. But he also discovered by coating himself in void energy, he can increase his speed, reactions, swiftness and velocity drastically. Having the clones act as after images to further trick the opponent. Also given his assassin and cold blooded nature, Jin can completely mask his mana signature and presence from anyone. Making it even more difficult to figure out who the real Jin is. With ammo rules, he can not only prevent his allies from being affected by the illusion but add versions of them into the illusion. At this point in time, it was almost funny to think how much this man was living in a world of his own creation, one far removed from reality. Because while it was true that the black bulls were indeed considered as somewhat of a non-squad along with the green mantis for dealing with outcasts, rejects and former criminals, that did not mean they were a joke. At the end of the day, it was easier to take on those that showed a lot of promise, had been groomed for the job for their entire lives and were prodigies in the art of magic, simply because one could have greater expectations of them. It was harder to take on people that had been chewed out by society and had no real promise, and to see if maybe they could be turned into something that might benefit society as a whole.
But that was just how Griswold perceived it, as he did not believe Charles or Malcolm to be weak or a joke. And to say this kind of stuff to his face, as a person who encountered the woodland spirit and lived, and was in the company of the very same guy who had more or less eviscerated all of his henchmen, it showed that he wasn’t all that clever to begin with. Safe to say, he was a stain on the reputation of the crimson lions, and one he would not mind wiping away in a not so gentle manner. Similar to how Jun had more or less been putting Liston’s men down, that was how he wanted to put the farmer into the ground too, though he was smarter than that. He couldn’t go around just putting people to death all willy nilly because they looked at him wrong or because they said stuff he did not like as a means of provoking him.
Especially with some of the words Sol had been speaking to him and how he felt like that had been pushing him to a point where he wanted to eject the guy out of the dungeon they had been in with a swift and forceful kick. But on the other hand, there were things he had been right about, such as how Griswold’s actions made it seem like he had it out for every single noble in the country. And while Liston had done plenty of things that should give credence to any magic squad and judge in the country that he had deserved the death that had been bestowed upon him, he wanted to go and do things in a different way. So when his offer to get his wife and have her take over the farm while he got sent to prison had been taken by the idiot as a threat, the attack coming at them in the form of crystal magic seemed both unprovoked and needless.
“Fine, but you’ll get to tell her yourself how you’re the reason you lost your lands.”
With that, he used what speed he had at his disposal to move around the crystals, charging his body with solar mana as he charged at the man from the side. Channelling all of that mana into a single fist, he punched the man right in the stomach, launching him towards the house and into the upstairs bedroom. Due to his mana skin, the man would more than likely have survived the initial blow, while blowing through the wooden wall would have certainly rendered him unconscious. With that much of a ruckus being caused, it seemed likely to assume that the lady of the house would have gone to check up on him and care for him, probably not knowing much about what her husband was doing in his free time, and how easy killing seemed to come to him. That said though, there was really no way of knowing how much she knew and in which ways she was involved in all of this.
“Alright… with that out of the way, I’m gonna go bury this totem somewhere in the field so our woodland friend will be able to work his magic and reclaim some of the land that had been taken from it. While I do that, I would much appreciate it if you checked in on the house and its inhabitants.”
While he would soon follow up on him and check the house out himself, and by that he meant the wife in order to see how they were going to work this all out, he believed Jun would be capable enough of taking care of things in his stead for the time being. Right now, burying the totem and seeing through on his word to the woodland spirit came first.

Liston's biggest mistake was engaging both of them with a fight, Jin was pretty confident he could have beaten him on his own. But it would have required some effort on his end. But Griswold would have been able to take Liston down without much effort on is part at all. Which he did in a few seconds flat, with just one blow moving at a speed the retired Crimson Lion just couldn't keep up with. "Wheeeeeeww." an impressed whistle left Jin's lips witnessing it all happen.
It seemed that Griswold may have been just a little upset with Liston's words about the Black Bulls squad. He didn't seem like the type to take offense to anything really, but magic knights were pretty loyal and passionate about their squads. Or perhaps he wasn't upset at all, and was just tired and Liston's words and actions. Griswold was more of a man for the common folk and nature, so someone like Liston whom seemed to be the opposite of that would meet the end of Griswold's fist pretty quickly.
The Solarian Wolf stated he was going to plant the totem so the woodland creature can take back his land. And requested that Jin go check on the farmer that was just launched back into his house. Jin nodded and went along he did plan on having a few words with Liston before he left for the night. The retired magic knight must have been hurting, not only from the blow he took from Griswold but also the damage his body received from crashing into the walls of his home. Jin knocked on the door, or what was left of it casually while stepping over all the wreckage. Now seeing his home practically a wreck, cause of his ignorance. He was probably badly hurt as well. Making his way upstairs, Jin didn't really bad for the guy he just made some unwise decisions in his own greed. The rogue didn't really have an issue with it at all, it was just unfortunate that he went about it this way.
Finally upstairs Jin met eyes with Liston's wide, who was holding Liston in her arms. The farmer was still alive but he was hurt, and the look on his face said that he got the message. "Ah good you’re still alive. I was worried for a second, that Griswold may have hit ya a little to hard." Jin said in a joking and formal way. Liston said nothing he just had a face of disgust, his wife was a about to speak but the farmer's hand stopped it. "I told ya, he's really strong. But thats ok. You live and you learn, such is life. I take it you'll be leaving this land alone, and make your way out this region?" Jin asked him. The farmer gave him a simple nod, and did nothing more.
"Ah good to hear! I'm sure you can understand! That there are other people...not just the Wolf that would rather you live else where." Jin said to him the rogues vibrant blue eyes for the first time tonight did not look welcoming or friendly, instead they looked deadly serious and they pierced Liston's own eyes. The farmer nodded once more getting the message. Jin started walking away with a simple hand wave. Given Liston's face and his eyes widening he got the message loud and clear, his wife questioning him and just what exactly did Jin mean by that. Her questions only met with silence in return.
Coming back outside the job was finally done, it had been a very long night and the rogue was ready for it to end. He let out a wide yawn and stretched his back. Seeing the Black Bull magic knight once more. "Alright it's been fun. Liston and his wife are accounted for. But now that it is over, it's time I make my leave. It's been a pleasure Griswold. Till we meet again." The rogue said walking away from the farm that was being formed back into it's original state.

Wandering the to find the best possible spot for him to bury the totem, he began thinking about the people that were living here. Aside from Liston, there was still his wife and the people they employed to look after the farmland, people that would come to be out of work once they were to leave the place. It was sad to see how some people were so tucked away inside of a little box of greed that they could not seem to make room for anything else in there. Because if the man had just stopped being an asshole for five seconds, he might have been able to see that the amount of land they’d end up giving back to the forest dwellers and their woodland spirit was but a fraction of the totality that was his farm. Short-sightedness and greed were often the folly of man, which was just proven to be true yet again this day.
Finding a nice place in the center of the field that was to be returned, sitting right in the light shone down by the moon, he began digging a hole with his hands. Digging to the point where he could stick his arm in up to his elbow, the black knight imagined it had gotten deep enough for the totem to fully disappear into it. Sticking it all the way at the bottom, he tossed the earth back where it had come from before stomping the place flat with his boot. With that, he had at the very least managed to do what had been promised to the nature spirit, as well as bringing back to nature some of what had been stolen by humanity. In more ways than one, that felt like a major win to him, as it was not common for people to do such a thing willingly.
Turning his gaze towards what remained of the forest, he saw a rather miraculous sight. With his eagle eyes, he saw the woodland spirit standing among the trees, barely standing out due to how well it’s natural body blended in with its surroundings. While it just stood there motionless, it was as if it radiated some sort of gratitude, though it was more than that. For as he looked down at the ground, which had been reduced to nothing but tillable soil ready to be seeded, small green saplings were already beginning to break the surface of the earth and moving up towards the moon ever so gradually. As this happened at an unnatural speed, one might imagine trees to spring up in a matter of days, though it was likely not going to be anywhere near that fast. Still, it was good to see that the work they had done mattered.
With that handled, he began making his way over to the family home on the farm, hoping to hear that Jun had taken care of business there. Because for however much it was worth, he did not want to chase anyone away from this place at all, which was why he had tried to reason with the farmer not once but twice, only for his words to fall upon deaf ears every damn time. And now, the only thing he could realistically do was to follow through upon his words and see to it that he was taken away from this place. So when Jun made his way out of the building and greeted him outside, Griswold was informed of the fact that things had been handled before he made his way out of the scene. Finding it somewhat odd that the guy had known to be here in spite of not being a magic knight, he decided not to make too much out of it.
“Good luck on the trail.”
As Jun left, Griswold pondered whether he should do the same or if he should do what he had in mind, deciding upon the latter after a moment of contemplation. Entering the place to see that everyone was still alive, the only reason he came in was because he still had something to say to the both of them. Going off of where the man had entered the building after some forceful coercion, he found the two in the room. Glad to see that his punch hadn’t actually ended up killing the man, he turned his attention to the both of them as there was a rather beaten mood in the room. Believing that it might aid him in strengthening his words enough for it to actually reach them this time, he let his voice spell out what was going to be happening.
“Even though you put our lives at risk because of your own greed, even though you were the one that had your goons attack us before you yourself attacked us, I want to give you a chance to get out of here. Take whatever belongings and money you can carry, and get out of here before I report your crimes to the knights. It won’t be the same life as you’ve grown accustomed to here, but it’ll be a life outside of prison that you can spend together. I suggest you get packing.”
With that, he nodded once before turning around and making his way out of the building. Not looking back even once, not even to see whether the forest spirit was still there, Griswold made his way straight back to the nearest township. Believing he had done the right thing in allowing these people a chance to maybe make a life for themselves somewhere else before reporting it at the squad, he was sure that if he heard of the man causing trouble again, that he’d be able to find him and drag him to an uncomfortable prison cell in no time at all. But for the sake of his wife, they at least had a chance. And after all that Liston had done to them, that was more than he deserved. But at least now, no one would look at him and call him a heartless monster that was out to ruin the lives of nobles.
