As Hania sat down once more he brought the notepad closer to him, using the ink and quill he also placed on the table before he left and started to write quickly, his empty hand went out to pick up his teacup without him missing a stroke or looking up. He had no idea what was going through either of their heads or what their beliefs may be, each person was an individual and he believed that everyone wore more than one face. He also believed that this was a way to protect themselves from the unfeeling world around them. Perhaps he was more jaded than most his age but if his history was known it would be hard for any to blame him. It was because of his past he kept the world at arm's length, isolated from it and yet somehow he was anchored by it.
Still, he never allowed it to interfere with his duties be it for his family, his squad or the kingdom; just right now he had a lot more on his plate than usual and was still trying to find the balance of it all. He took a sip of the tea and looked up as Maria spoke "There is nothing wrong with excitement, but, there is a time and place for such things and this is neither." he tried to give a warm tone but it came out as neutral as ever if they had known him and knew what to look for within his tone then they would have heard that it was actually quite soft, respectful even. Those who did know him knew it wasn't the tone that he used but it's undertone that they had to watch out for as this was where the true emotions he was feeling at the time lay.
His eyes had shifted from Maria to Thaddius as he brought up his notepad and showed him what he had been writing, unlike the other two he didn't have a physical book beside him. He was using the perfect memory he had been 'gifted' to do his studying. On the page he was showing the pair, was what was needed and the method used to make the antidote for the aforementioned snake. "It would depend on how big they are." the ice mage commented "The largest natural black mamba is documented to be fourteen feet and nine inches long..." he said putting the notepad down "Now as far as a black mamba mana beast that is a completely different monster." There were no known records on how big those could grow but he put that down to people who got too close to them and paid the price.
"You may want to look up inland taipan." he commented taking another sip of his tea "Where the black mamba is the most dangerous known snake the inland taipan has the deadliest venom as not only is their venom is neurotoxic, the venom also has a spreading factor too, this increases the rate of absorption." he informed him as he went back to writing taking another sip of his tea allowing them to look over the snake he had suggested. He had no idea what to make of the pair, in all honesty, he knew their family issues were none of his business but how the younger had reacted made him believe there was a lot going on but he didn't want to come out and accuse a noble family without any proof to back up his claim. "What made you both interested in this task?" he would inquire, this was genuine this wasn't exactly something that one would decide to do lightly after all.
Her excitement and slip up got her scolded a bit from Hania but this time around, she was more secure about the situation. It was indeed the time to get as much information as possible and not waste time. "Yes, Hania." Her smile turned to a smirk as she reached for her tea cup and took a sip. It could use more sugar but she would remain quiet to avoid any further distractions. After a moment, Thaddeus would mention some information about the black mamba. The girl cycled through the pages of the book she was reading and eventually came across it. It was indeed dangerous but she was not afraid. Another snake caught her eye as the two men were talking. It was called a cobra and it could spit venom from its mouth. She wondered how dangerous that one would be but she would grow distracted again by the talk of mana beast. Fighting a large snake mana beast would be a great reputation builder but Hania returned the talk to normal snakes and mentioned the Inland Taipan. It sounded deadly for non mages but it was found in arid areas not jungles so the girl wondered if this snake would even a problem.
It was here that Hania asked there reasoning for taking on this task. Maria's was very simple. "Well, I was assign to. And I wanted more experience before the Magic Knight exams. It is very important that I pass. What about you?" The girl took another sip of the tea before returning to her book.

The thing that had brought Thaddeus around for this expedition? Well it was rather simple really. He had been asked by an elder of the family to keep an eye on his cousin so that he could ensure that she made it onto the archaeological team. Given the rather reckless manner in which Klara had tended to go about things, Thaddeus had understood where it might have been that the elder was coming from. On that same token though, Thaddeus had largely come out here to ensure that his cousin would be able to handle herself. She was going to be working towards undertaking the Magic Knight exams soon as that... Well the life of a Magic Knight was a vastly different one than the one that the duo had been living up to this point. The life of a Magic Knight was a far dangerous one. If he had to think of a completely truthful answer to this question than it would have to be about how he had come out here to ensure that Klara would be alright without him someday. Of course he could see the flaws in this logic, considering the fact that him being around might lead her to believing that things will go differently. Honestly, the Spring Deacon hadn't really had an answer in this moment.
"Hm.. I guess that you could just say that I wanted to help my cousin out before she departs from the area. I won't always be able to be there once she becomes a Magic Knight.. so I might as well take my time with her now, while I have it. Right? And besides, it is quite a good thing that I had chosen to come, if I am not mistaken. To have encountered the Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions... You do know just how values your captain is to the church, right? The Spears of Salamander essentially worship that man. Well, it's more so that they worship the spirit that he had tied a pact to but still. For one to be able to bond with one of the four main spirits... If only I could ever be that lucky."
A soft yawn would slip free from the Spring Deacons lips as he had continued to flip through the book. Once the yawn had ended though, Thaddeus would reach across the table and would snag his cup of tea in between two fingers. "With you on our side though, I am sure that things will work out. Even my children may assist with the situation, once we are out and about."

Hania looked at the young woman and tipped his head "I am well aware of where you may find inland taipan, however, we live in a world full of magic and stranger things have occurred." he couldn't read her mind but he was well aware what anyone would think given where they would be heading and were that snake called home naturally. "Also, no one has been able to get near the temple to my knowledge so it may be like a desert within it." he said thoughtfully "Besides, it will make you look better if you know more than jungle snakes as she may try test you on things." he said just wanting her to be equipped the best she could be. He fell silent and started to take a sip of his tea once more, overall he thought this was going rather well regardless of the bumpy start.
"Assigned to it?" this had caught him off guard but he had his assumptions this had been the case, he could tell her that she shouldn't really be assigned to tasks, after all, she wasn't a magic knight but then he would be a hypocrite because he knew that exact feeling as he grew. Then again he was the heir to his family and a lot more pressure was put onto his shoulders to be perfect and understand his duties. "Knights get assigned, guards get assigned, staff get assigned, the clergy get assigned..." he began, his eyes moving to her "I believe the term you may want to use is requested if asked why you wish to join by our head researcher." he commented, "If you wish to bring in your family you say that your family thought that you would be a good fit for this task." he said placing his cup down.
"Then you can add that you are wanting to take the magic knight exams and want to test and see if you're ready." he finished, he knew the woman would have a weak spot as she knew how daunting the exams could be as a former coral peacock herself and wanting to do a dry run. If she had tried this at any other time or said that she was looking for experience there would be a good chance that she would just dismiss her, especially saying that she had been assigned to it. He was doing his best to advise her, whether she took it was up to her. It was then he took note of her question "I am a scholar." he said without needing anytime to think about it.
"Our world is filled with many mysteries and more questions even still, why wouldn't someone wish to look into such things?" he would question them before starting to pick up books to put them away. If there was one thing he shared with his cousin Edward it was that everything had its place and should be returned to it when not being used. "If you both finish up your studying, tea and cake I will put things away and will see you at the interviews." with that he would continue with his task as if he actually worked there as a librarian, chatting to people and giving them directions to where they may find the things they were looking for. Truly, if it hadn't been for his mantle you'd have never guessed that he was a magic knight let alone a vice-captain. When everything was put away he himself exited the library and headed for where the interviews would be taking place.
Maira started to giggle as Hania revealed a misunderstanding. "Sorry sorry. My family knows my hopes of joining the Knights. So they look out for opportunities like this to send me on so I can get experience. So, these are things I agreed to go on. But thank you. I will be sure to be more careful with my words." From this point on it was nothing but positive advice and support from both the men here. With that, Maria was able to relax and take in a lot of information about snakes, temples, jungles and was ready to go and prove her worth.

With the assistance of Hania, the duo had managed to pick up quite a bit of information about the subjects that they had needed for this little request of theirs. It was quite wonderful to have become rather knowledgeable about the possible threats that they were going to face but honestly, Thaddeus hadn't been all that appreciative of the fact that they had to obtain assistance from someone like Hania. Perhaps it was due to the vast difference in rank, despite the both of them having been Upper Nobility, but Thaddeus didn't truly understand it. For some reason, he just couldn't wrap his head around why this vice captain would wish to help them. Rather than try and worry themselves about the whole thing though, it was starting to become easier to just try and ignore these thoughts and focus on the task at hand. "I suppose that this means that we are heading out after a bit more studying then?" No real affirmation would be offered up to the Spring Deacon but all in all, he had assumed that this was going to be the case. Not really sure of what events would proceed to occur within the future, once could only hope that things would work out.
