A constant topic of conversation amongst the rich and the poor within Clover, is the infamous robin-hood like piratess who roams the seas always ready to strike. A powerful user of fog-magic and a threat to many Royal and Noble navy ships of Clover (and other kingdoms alike), the red-headed woman has been dubbed “The Fury of the Depths.” She has one visible green eye and skin a shade of deep caramel from the years she’s spent on sea. The ship that she captains, The Red Solaria, is known to be the fastest on the seas and is rumored to be impossible to catch.
The famous Crimson Lion knight known to operate the complex battleship, "The Revenge of King Anton", is a force to be reckoned with at sea. Adorning powerful cannons and a strict coat of arms, the crew on the ship is known to be the very best when it comes to combat on water. Captain Caballero is an irregularly tall pale man with, amber eyes and sandy blond hair. The scar on his right cheek makes him recognizable by anyone familiar with the title “The Ruthless Giant.” He is known for his incredible offensive and defensive use of Gold Magic.
It was a hot day. One would say it was a beach day to relax or do some beach training. However today, there would be no vacationing or fun training in among the cool waves. No, today she was "encouraged" to go fishing. With everything that was happening, fishing was the last thing she wanted to do. It was so... still. She preferred something with more action, conflict, violence or at least hitting something. She could not even remember why she was doing it. Walking along the sand, she wore a dark brown cloak with a pearl white short sleeve shirt, brown shorts and a pair of sandals hanged off her waist. That was one of the good things about this. She did not need to bring her boots since she was not planning on fighting. So her feet would be super comfortable. She also has a small backpack which she normally hung her sandals on but since she was only taking them off so she could walk in the sand, she did not bother the hassle of taking of her backpack.
About 10 minutes later, the girl reached to spot where this fishing competition was being held. Oh, yeah, this was a competition. Was that great! Instead of training she was entertaining the masses with her expert ability to fish for the first time.
"Oh give it a try. They said. Oh it would be fun they said. Oh it will get you name out their they said."
Maria was just not amused. Especially since she figured she would have achieved her goal by now of becoming a magic knight. However, do to the issues with the demons and stuff, it was taking much longer to receive her letter saying if she was accepted or not. That was given this was true and she was not weak or a failure. Just thinking about this was making her scream internally. Surely she could not be so weak that she has to resort to FISHING to be seen enough to become a knight.
Out of her mind, she saw two ships. The first and more interesting one was The Red Solaria. It was owned by a Privateer who was known to give the royal fleet a hard time. The captain, Verona de la Rouge, was a "giving" type of person though rumor had it that her donations to society always came at the expense of the royal families. It was interesting to see her here and not hiding but legal red tape and technicalities had a funny way of turning scumming things legal for both good and bad people. Maria herself was sort of glad the Wilhelms did not dabble in that area of the law... or at least, they did not make her do it. She could only imagine the pressure of having to carefully fixed every word you say to stay out of jail. It was defiantly a type of strength, maybe something she would never be good at, nor did she want to be.
The other ship was the reminder the girl needed to remember why she was doing this stupid fishing thing. The ship was the Revenge of the King Anton. It was an... interesting name but it made her think of some toy owned by some little boy. However, she would keep that opinion to her self as the captain, Smack Caballero, was a Crimson Lion and it so happened that Crimson Lion was one of her top choices of Knights to join. The poorly named ship was not a toy either. It was a well known powerful battleship, something that was probably a bit overkill for a simple fishing event. Still, it represented her ideas for strength nicely so Maria fell very mix in her feelings about it. Oh and there was one more important thing about the man, He was well... stupid tall.
While it would 100 percent be more interesting to join the totally not a pirate, she felt like her goals would be more successful if she met with more knights, especially a knight that was a member of one of her top picks. With that settled, the girl begrudgingly scooted over to the line to ride the great, poorly named, battleship.

His first mission was in Raque. A deamon had brought monsters with them into the city and flooded everything. A few magic knights became temporarily stuck on Hangmans Hill, for it had become an island of corpses within the deep waters. Hinota was the main reason the only surviving civilian from that specific had survived. Today wasn't anything serious at all, but he was still joining in something. Why was he going on something that wasn't a mission? Because as a tracker, avoiding an area was unacceptable. He had still been avoiding Raque to some extent due to that first mission. One of the worst parts had been how wrong he was about Naxel. It had seemed like the man had been trying to learn sign language, but that was useless when they couldn't remember any of it in a bad situation. It was the same sort of situation Joseph had told the man that could cause him unable to verbalize anything. Cobborn going quiet hadn't been a jump surprise or any such thing. Too much had left an impression on him, so it was time to make a new one. It may have been only fishing, but it might end with some skills that could be used in other things. Maybe gaining the ability to walk through the city of Raque without bother would be the only skill that was important to gain from this.
The smell of the water and the docks was familiar. Where the ex azure deer ad grown up had a dock area, even if that one had been mostly full of merchants. He signed the word 'reverberating' to activate one of his favorite spells. It didn't take long for bits of carbon matter to start forming, quickly starting to form an intricate map. Barely any time had slipped for the young man to have a complete map to look upon. It was a lazy way to find out where he should go, but it was better than wasting time. This wasn't an undercover mission or any of the sort, so there was no reason top hide anything. The golden Dawn mantel stood out, but there was no helping that. It was one of the most well known magic knight squadrons and had mostly nobility. Him existing as one who wore the mantel but dressed as a commoner certainly stood out. The azure deer mantel never got him any more or less attention, unless someone wanted help with directions. Now he got looks occasionally, no matter what. It was a horrible sensation, but hopefully one that would go away. As long as nobody knew his name, everything would be alright. It didn't take long to find the two ships, he probably hadn't even needed the maps aid. Not needing it didn't mean it wasn't a comforting tool.
He never had a stuffed toy that could ease their worries and their father used to try to ease fears with music or information. Maybe this was why the maps information and constant ever changing tune was such a comfort. These sensations of feeling closer to everything through the information within the sounds and visions was entrancing, thus more than enough to fight away any negative imagery the mind of his may try to conjure otherwise. So, which ship did he choose for the fishing contest? That was 'The Revenge of King Anton'. Why? The Captain was a crimson lion, even if both ships were of legal standing. There was a familiar face he spotted in the line after getting in it though. “Maria?” The short girl from the bakery who more than likely had some dwarf in her. He didn't know her last name, but a first was better than nothing. Maybe this would be less painful than he thought. Things might be easier on the mind if there was a familiar face to speak with. If she remembered him or not was the real question, they hadn't been around each other for that long after all. Maybe a conversation starter would be good while in line? “Do you like eating fish? It's very healthy to eat.” That wasn't the worst way to try chatting, but not exactly the best either.
(It was discussed in DMs. Joseph Actually said Klara not Maria.)
A familiar voice got the girl to turn around. It was there that she saw the baker from before. "Oh Joseph. Pleasure to see you again." Her typical smile didn't change though. While its nice to see that there wont be all strangers. She was still no more eager to do this competition. In fact, mentally complaining and keeping up her fake smile was all she could focus on which limited her sociability. Still, she could not keep to herself forever as Joseph tried to break the ice regarding fish. A simple question and an obvious fact for someone valued physical exercise.
"I suppose... it does taste better than say broccoli."
The girl tried to suppress a giggle but ended up staying out of her head. "Ever had it fresh out of the river? I heard people say nothing tastes better than something you worked hard for. Though I'm sure any half decent cook could make it taste better than anything I would make." It was her best effort at continuing a conversation she did not care for. Another fake smile later, it was time for them to get onto the boat. It was here that Captain Smack Caballero, began to give his speech. He explain the rules the ship, how everyone was to remain safe and not leave the allowed areas. Bah bah bah, all boring stuff. It was becoming more and more obvious that the pirate lady was going to be so much more fun. So in the middle of this all, Maria tried to start more conversation.
"I kind of was thinking about joining the knights, but if the Crimson Lions are as boring as this guy, I wonder if I should try and go for their interest." She finished with a snicker and closed her eyes. In truth she already knew she did need to please him. Crimson lions was her number 1 choice at this point. It just that, Joseph didn't need to know such a minuet detail.

“Broccoli?” As someone who couldn't taste anything, he was feeling particularly tossed into left field. He knew about flavors and had some general idea on how things should taste based on information read and what little times he could taste things. Of course Klara liked thinking about flavors, the two had met in a bakery. She had probably helped so she could get the breads at the end like she had. “That vegetable is healthy, but can be harsh on the digestive system when not cooked a little. It can be cooked many ways to make it more palatable and easier to digest. That is to say... I can't taste flavor, not even any of the fresh fish I ever caught, cooked and ate. I instead use my medical knowledge and information from recipes to figure out when and what should be eaten.” In the magic of not knowing flavor, he had made broccoli not sound bad or good, but also made eating fresh fish from a river sound boring. There was no thinking about flavor when eating for him, only when and what. But.. ~It would be nice to taste all the time.~ To taste the difference between fresh and not, to find out why some recipes prefer cried herbs over fresh ones, and why people hated the taste of certain things. Nothing tasted any different to him even if a lot of effort was put into it, so it was the same to him as something with a low amount of effort.
There was no point in being picky with food anyway, so the lack of taste likely helped with that. What mattered was nutritional value and health benefits, not flavor or texture. This was healthier, but sucked all forms of pleasure and enjoyment one might get from eating food. When the girl suggested the Crimson Lions were boring, the man couldn't help but shake his head for no. His father, the blood one. Fintan. The Ravencrest had known them for only a short amount of time, for seconds at best. Still, there was no way that person could be considered boring to him. But also... “He's just making sure everyone's on the same page and knows what to do. Crimson Lions can be honorable, but are certainly not boring. The ones I’ve met tend to be smart, but quick to act. Reckless, but certainly not boring.” Ardere could certainly called reckless with how they had put themselves in danger to save Joseph in Kikka. That was far preferable to him above someone who doesn't care enough to make sure everyone understood. The man smiled to himself a bit. “I only the other hand joined Azure Deer because of my sensory magic, than quit it because someone I didn't trust had joined it and had been aiming for leadership. Was asked to join golden dawn likely because of those same sensory abilities.”
Which was to say, Joseph was as honorable as a deer avoiding conflict where he could. He did what was smart, but it could also be seen as cowardly. He could say it takes less effort to do the wrong thing or not have honor, but that would be a very distasteful joke. At least it seemed like they would be able to fish very soon. When the talking ended, it finally seemed to be time to board the ship. That would be nice, it would mean soon it would be time to fish. “How much experience do you have in fishing?” There was still time to kill, so it wouldn't hurt to ask. He hadn't been trying to kill conversations with poking more at medical information and not going over taste, but information was just easier to understand. It didn't matter how many fresh fish he had cooked and eaten, though that did sound like something he should bring home to Yugo at some point. ~Herb encrusted fish cooked by Yugo might be pretty easy to taste.~ Imagining that started getting their head in places that had very little if not nothing to do with fishing. Joseph had to scold both their own brain and hands for turning against him. He really wasn't a pervert! His hands that expressed some innocent things he could do, his brain didn't have to run away with it to strange places.

Joseph began flaunting their, honestly, impressive knowledge about food and nutrition. This was even more amazing given the man was a member of Golden Dawn and thus not really a chief. That's not to say that the person could not have been a cook before joining the knights but if they were, then it just goes to show how much they cared about food. However, they were in Golden Dawns so this could have just been a result of them being a prodigy. Only the very best get into that squad so perhaps that extends to hobbies as well. She was not going to be negative about that though. He was good at it. It made him strong and she would give him that respect... at least. "I can't say I knew that. I always thought they were just really good for you period."
However, with the addition that the man could not taste anything, she felt her composure drop a bit with only her smile holding on. She quickly pulled over her hood and turned away. "I am sorry for being inconsiderate with my question. I did not know. Though, you really are good at this stuff despite that. Surely it is something you should be proud of." The girl felt herself acting a bit more polite than she planned to but she was just unsure what to do about this. Maybe if they were strangers she could see her self caring less but they knew each other and thus she knew his skill was the real thing. Despite this handicap she could not even compete. It was shameful but she would not accept this as weakness. It was not a skill she seek to be better at so she could overlook it.
When it came to the crimson lion, the man took her comment a bit more serious than she wanted. It probably was expected given he was a knight. Maybe he had friends in the lions that he wanted to defend. She would have to be more careful with her words in the future now. The other story he added was well interesting but the girl was focused on so many other things that she could not honestly say she took it all in. At least she managed to keep looking at him and nodding to feint following his story. It was another mistake and probably something that could be considered a weakness. "Ah... I did not know. I will keep that in mind when I look at the lions. Also, being in the Golden Dawn still says a lot about you. A true prodigy. Your knowledge on food truly shows how adaptable you are." Once again, her tone was a bit more respectful than she normally would be.
When it came to fishing, The girl finally broke character and started laughing. "Well, I'll done spear fishing... but I don't they will have a long enough spear for me. So I would say zero in this case. Honestly, I do even expect to win. I am just going through the motions." By this point they were already at sea and had their lines out. After about an hour, the girl got a bite. It was a pretty heavy fish but with the guidance of the people around her, the girl was able to properly reeling in a healthy size fish. It was big enough to submit being as long as she was tall. The girl was not going to going for another one. Fishing was pretty boring to her and well she just wanted to be done with this. Lucky for the girl none of the other fishers managed to catch anything of bigger than hers. The only other person who could out due her at this point would have been Joseph so she just had to hope that luck was on her side... not that she was praying hard.

Did Klara really not know that broccoli tasted different when cooked in different ways? This was a first for Joseph, something that he hadn't even heard from Novas mouth. He had only started talking to nobles about things outside of work after becoming a magic knight. It had shown him that some had normal life skills, where others did not. For a commoner, even ones who lived in the forsaken region knew that tougher vegetables were tastier and easier to digest after being cooked. Ones that lived on mostly potatoes, ones that lived off of foods hunted, gathered, or grown by themselves, people who lived off of mainly seafood that they caught, it was just one of those universal things that were known. If he hadn't been sure she was a noble before, he was now. He was sure she was old enough to know to some degree or another, so that was the only real option he could see. “Its one of the things most commoners know, as rougher vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and root vegetables, are cheaper to buy, but harder on the digestive system when not cooked.” The cheaper the vegetable, the more likely someone who was a commoner had eaten it at least a few times, flavor or preferences be damned. Besides that, those cheaper rougher vegetables could hold a lot of nutrition as well.
One cannot live off of luxurious ingredients, nor the favorites that might lack all the right vitamins. Even when yul came in regularly, houses eventually need repairs, clothes replacing, and people get sick. Money can become scarce pretty fast and easy, even when doing your best and working your hardest.. No amount of being frugal can change that for a commoner. How she worded things next felt a bit weird. “It's okay, you didn't know.” Being proud of what? Cooking skills? It was a strange thing for someone to suggest. Maybe it was guilt for not knowing he couldn't taste? But there was no reason to feel guilty about things that one could not predict. Than again, this hadn't been the only time he had told her of his tasting troubles. “My cooking skills are only as good as the recipe followed, which would make me a sub par chef. The further from the recipe, or the more important tasting is to finding the flavor, the easier it is for my skills to fail.” The fishing had been an easy accomplishment for Joseph. With his sensory spell out, he used it to see all that was within the waters. This meant he knew where to place his line and had a good idea of the sort of movements or lack of movements to use in order to catch something. The thoughts of seeing Yugo cooking later filled their heart and drove the pink eyed person forward.
A prodigy for knowing about food? “I'm someone who was raised as a commoner who happens to also be a medical student in a few fields. This is knowledge that would be strange if it wasn't known by me, rather than the other way around. I am a prodigy in tracking and sensory.” This said what magic specialization he was best at, as well as what area of it he excelled in. He did have healer as one of his specializations, but would never consider himself a prodigy. What did one look like? Hinota. She had been a true prodigy of healing and was now a master. Humble, sweet, and smart enough and dressed self respecting enough for the Golden Dawn member to have nothing but respect for that person. By the time the dwarf had caught one fish, the Ravencrest had caught many well sized fish. Nobody had any rules against his fishing tactics, so it wasn't cheating. This was merely using ones knowledge and experience to get things done. Where the girl had been bored, this man had found a calming joy in the action of fishing. The thought of Yugo cooking anything he had caught was perhaps even stimulating to their heart. Yugo didn't eat enough anyway and fish was a wonderfully healthy meat.
