[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]All young nobles were raised to understand one thing and that was that they were always being observed from all sides. Nobles would judge to find weaknesses and flaws, while commoners may also do this in the hopes to gain a bit of coin they also envied for things they couldn't possess. He guessed he could understand it as he, when younger envied their freedoms in regard to how strictly his time had been managed since he was born. He learned early that freedom wasn't really free and everything had a price just what it was different depending on the individual in question. Every now and then the youth were expected to give some sort of aid in regard to the common man, to prove that they were empathetic to their plights. He like many of his peers silently groaned and rolled their eyes when this kind of thing was brought up.
He understood why it was done. It was for good optics. It still annoyed him that he had to do it every now and then as he was usually sent on more stringent tasks than his sisters who just had to keep company with lonely elderly people. This time they were having to have tea with them and what was he to do? He was being sent to the damned common region to help a commoner witch that had just given birth. He thought it would be as simple as having to play with the baby while she rested a bit, that would have been annoying but nope it was so much worse. It turned out that she needed to make a potion but didn't have the needed ingredients for said potion and now that she had her baby she couldn't leave it to get the required ingredients.
The issue was as much as he was a prodigy when it came to gems and metals crafting them into beautiful trinkets and jewellery the pages of his grimoire were still blank. It made no sense for him to be sent on a task that required him to fight things due to it. It was nothing more than a pretty looking paperweight. It was annoying but he knew they would turn up when they were needed, he just had to have patience as difficult as that was. He knew his father was disappointed in this fact and likely the reason why he sent him to do this task. Then again he could still fight physically thanks to his training so he didn't worry too much, it was just a headache he could have really done without if he was perfectly honest.
"Eyes of bats and feathers of a firebird." he spoke softly to himself as he made his way to the place marked on the map "It makes me wonder what kind of potion is she making, actually, nevermind I don't care enough to figure that out." he said stopping and looking around the area. 'I was told I'd meet someone here that would help me get through this indentured community service, I have my doubts but I guess I may be pleasantly surprised but I'm not going to hold my breath... I'd likely suffocate.' he thought to himself. He hated being out of the noble region at the best of times, he tolerated Kikka as it was one of the best trading hubs in the kingdom but he still tried to avoid going there if he could help it given the misfortune that kept befalling the place. That being said Raque wasn't exactly any better now he thought about it.
Hapshass, Home of the coral peacocks, a town that has became a hub of sort for healers and apothecaries alike most great at their crafters but some are not as great. Today was no different for a now just average citizen of clover, former crimson lion Leonora Vermillion. She has always like the common reign over the noble region. While the common region was more simple and of people just trying to survive in-between customers of the noble region and citizens of the forsaken region and on. No She loved this region and in particular this town for the vast forests she has enjoyed hunting in, finding vast feathers and often enjoying the thought of which of the many birds had dropped their various feathers. plus bird in the wild were amazing to sketch and enjoy as she loved the thought of their freedom in the winds, not being bond by honor or duty, finding their own way and home. Such a magical race of creatures.
[break][break]
Today she was in Hapshass, in truth traveling to Sosshi. She heard rumors of a local witch just having a baby. Good for her right? well that would be a good thing if the witch could continue her work while tending to the young one she brought into this world. Leonora had inquired into the witches whereabout and decided this was something she could help. She had her own heritage within the bloodline of the witches. Even some of her cousins though of her to be more like the witches within the witch forest. She didn't like men too much, unless they actually had some sort of brain between their ears, brawn just added to a option but not what she required when thinking of someone to be around. Hell if she didn't like have anything but a hood over her head, she might have even taken up a good old witch hat much like her mother and the women on her mother's side of the family.
[break][break]
Walking towards the given location she stopped shortly outside seeing a familiar figure leave the hut " Oh Sir Enlil. I am surprise someone like yourself will go out of your way to help a mother and her child, especially here is Hapshass." She inquired walking towards him "If I am right, Then I am sure you will likely need assistance collecting the given ingredients for the potion she needs assistance with. Before you ask, I heard from those around this community what she needs assistance with. "She said adjusting the red scarf she had wrapped around her shoulders and over her head loosely. She had a simple red tunic and form fitting brown leggings under her knee high heels . At her waist was her grimoire as she looked over at him.
[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]He remained standing in the area he was meant to meet the person who he was to work with on this task. He thought that it might be another noble youth like himself doing indentured service or even a person still low within the ranks of the magic knights. He would soon find it was much worse as he heard 'her' voice yet again. 'I'm starting to think I have a stalker at this point as no matter where I go she's there too.' he thought to himself. He actually thought Amaya was over-exaggerating when she spoke about Taiyo essentially stalking her, after all, who would be stupid enough to stock someone from such an affluent family whose head could destroy them with just a few simple words? Now he wasn't so sure he should have dismissed her concerns given he too now had a Vermilion problem.
With his back still turned to her he closed his eyes and silently sighed to himself before turning and looking at her "It isn't sir." he said simply, if people felt the need to be so formal he wished they would at least get the damned title right. "Why would it surprise you that I would go out of my way to do a service to someone that is having a hard time?" he would ask her as he approached. He didn't want to be there that was true but he hadn't shown any outward signs of being irritated about it. "Many family elders instil duty, respect, responsibility, understanding and empathy into their children, my family's elders are no different." he would say as if this was a common occurrence "Perhaps the Vermilion didn't take part in such things as you all as wild as the magics you seem to own." he said with a calm tone.
"For me, it is a reminder I should be thankful for the opportunities my position has afforded me and to not squander it as it could be easily taken away..." he paused for a second "However, the greatest testament to that in recent history would be your own family." His words seem like he was deep in thought about the subject, in truth most nobles revelled in the misfortune of others more so if they were of their own social standing or greater. He wasn't trying to come off as petty or smug on the matter and his tone showed he was only speaking on facts as they were publically known, but he was a socialite of the butterfly circle. This was the circle most if not all socialites attempted to gain access to due to them having the greatest potential for things such as politics, trade and other notable skills.
Were this indeed a true fact, they also seemed to be the most well-informed of the socialite circles. "I am able to hold my own physically but as of yet I have not been blessed with spells." It was an issue that many within his circle were dealing with. They, of course, could do simple things like anyone else it was just due to many of their lifestyles there was no need for them to worry about needing to go to war as they would always be nestled where it was safe unless they decided to join the magic knights or army. "How you heard is none of my concern, I was told I would be doing this task with someone by the woman I am helping and that's all I need to know." he said with a light shrug "I'm sure as a former magic knight you can deal with the threat and I can harvest the required components she has asked for." with that he moved to where the bats were said to have been, with any luck they'd be asleep and so easy to deal with.
She watched him seem to stop before turning to her questioning why it seemed odd for him to help others in need. She listened to his words as she sighed flipping some hair behind her shoulders " Not all vermillion like being in a well vented ivory tower as my cursed family head once did chasing around a tiny royal. No, I never was one for fine things as in the end they could be easily taken or broken under the right situations as all things in this world." She informed as she was right. she was never one for laying about in luxury. She would rather be out and exploring, finding some new mission or help someone else as anywhere was better then being around the family that is more loud and annoying then the beasts in the wild. She closed her eyes hearing him speak of how these tasks were to remind him how well off he was as her family was the perfect example. If she wasn't attempting to continue playing nice, she might have actually went off and punched him. However that was not something she could do given the situation. [break][break] " Mind you it was the spoiled former Heir that decided his actions outside our own wishes and he is lucky I am not chasing him or he is going to regret every damn moment he didn't use his brain and is it just me or do most of you in the butterfly circle just not care for given spells? I knew that was one of your all issues my former cousin spoke of as if encouragement was going to make them come faster." She asked shrugging as she heard the rumors and from her chats with taiyo. "Yes while I am unsure if I am the woman that is suppose to be assisting you. I will have no problem taking on anything we need to for whoever she need to. It is kind of a hard to do much of anything without some sort of weapons and spells." She said with a smile as she rested her hands on her hips " So lead the way I will do the heavy lifting so to speak." She said
[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]He looked at her as she spoke of not all Vermilion liking to be locked up inside their ivory tower "I wouldn't say that it was an ivory tower, it's more akin to a circus just less entertaining." his voice was calm as he spoke on the matter, it was very clearly his opinion and it was quite similar to the opinion to a lot of others within the noble court. Then again, the Vermilion had been in decline for quite some time and seen as little more than laughing stocks thanks to the management of those in charge of the family and the lack of discipline to the next generation. This was shown even more when the stand-in heir took his father's head due to as a form of a temper tantrum because he was denied what he believed was his birthright. He didn't know the situation of that mess and honestly, he didn't want to.
"You say that he was chasing around Amaya, yet it seems like you are doing the same kind of thing to me. I will admit not to the same extremes thankfully but it is unsettling." he said to the older woman "You are narrow-minded." he said turning to look at her once more "You said you were never one for 'nice things' due to them being able to be taken or broken, however, what I deem as a nice think will be different from another person's perception of what a 'nice thing' could be. So, you are one for nice things just not traditionally so." he corrected her as he continued to walk "After all, being able to go explore without the worry of this or that is a luxury that commoners are not afforded." he reminded her "Something I'm sure you are learning now." he finished off.
"From my understanding he was never truly your family's heir, more a placeholder while the true next in line galavanted around the kingdom to her heart's content and because of this he may have believed or may have been told he was next in line only to have it ripped away from him." he stopped once more "But I neither know nor care enough to know as it isn't my circus and your family are not my monkeys." he said looking around as if checking they were in the right place for the task. "To be honest, most nobles wonder if the last generation or so had a brain with how things were spirling." he commented in return to her words "It isn't that we don't care, it is just our spells tend to show at later time than most." it was a true fact and so he wasn't going to argue it.
"Encouragement is all fine and dandy but it is the mana that dictates when a person's spells and abilities start to show themselves. From my understanding, there can be many reasons spells may not show to a person." he said thinking logically "It can be that they lack direction, that they aren't in a situation where they need to push past their limits or they don't have the right tutors to help them understand their magic. I also think personality can play a part in that, but in the end, it's all speculation." It had been a while since he had a conversation on such a topic and may bring it up with his philosophy tutor when he returned home as he would likely enjoy the debate. "You are correct, such a task would be hard without spells and so I am thankful for your aid." he was genuine on this.
Eventually, he stopped at where they were meant to be pointing up to where the bats were hanging asleep. "We need eight sets of eyes so eight bats, please be careful with how you kill them, if the head is damaged they'll be useless." he said with a concerned tone. "Hopefully you can only disturb eight so we don't have to deal with the entire group." he wasn't holding his breath on that one due to the sensitivity of a bat's ears.
"I wasn't meaning my own family's tower as most would rather stay in a pit then be out and free." She spoke taking a deep breath as she listened to his opinion as she waved a hand dismissively "I can go wherever I wish. It just so happens a lot of our pathing seems to be crossing nothing more. I am not bound to stay in one place due to family obligations nor do I have anyone I have to answer to." She spoke with a shrug. In her mind it was just fate that they kept running into each other, there was no way around the fact fate was binding their interactions together. She watched him blankly on the apparent obsession she seemed to have with their crossing paths along with calling her narrow minded on a view of nice things as she looked up at the sky in thought "That depends, most chose not to travel due to roots and family or a business holding them in place. I don't have to worry of spending more money then what i have. I barely spent what i had to as a magic knight so i saved up quiet well along with being able to hunt and cook for myself and i much prefer camping under the stars. It puts things into perspective for sure." she said shrugging at the end "you are welcome, anything to assist on my way through."
[break][break] She looked in the direction of the nearest bat cave, following him to it as she tilted her head from side to side thinking of a strategy to enjoy herself while not damaging the goods so to say. She had a few perfect plans in mind " Now this depends do you like tight places or would you like to stay out here while i go in?" she asked him moving into the cave as she raised a hand allowing a bright snow white flame lit feather to appear above her hand as she crouched down tossing it inside, keeping the toss low to the ground as she looked at the ceiling as it passed below the bats without alerting them as she saw there were quiet a few in there "Plenty to have a pick at for sure... going to be annoying dealing with catching them with the height" She said in thought. [break][break]
[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]He would look at her for a moment "We both know that is a lie, had your family not really cared for their comforts as much as the next noble then you wouldn't have fallen now would you." he said covering his mouth as he yawned "It was because Taiyo wanted to succeed in the line to be at the top of that ivory tower that caused it." as much as she was trying to paint her family as different they were essentially no different from the next family, they were usually just more subtle about it. "But when thinking about it he wouldn't have ever been a suitable heir, he not only allowed another noble to walk into his home and belittle him but let them walk away without consequence." He said his tone still showing disbelief that it happened any other noble would have called out such behaviour.
"He was pathetically weak and allowed his former flame to walk all over him for years, I'm surprised none of you seen it coming but then you were all wrapped up in your individual bubbles so cared little for things outside of them." he shook his head "It was only a matter of time before your family fell into ruins." he sighed "Then again to call the Vermilion a family was and still is overly charitable. You were a bunch of ner do wells that may as well have been from other families raised inside an orphanage for all the semblance of structure you had." he shook his head "To think you were once thought to be a militaristic family but the difference between yourselves and the Ravencrest were night and day." He remembered his own father grandfather and great-grandmother speaking of the Vermilion in a favourable light, he didn't believe it to be true from what he had seen.
"I didn't say that you couldn't, I just find it odd that no matter where I seem to go when I leave my families estate I always find you there, if I didn't know any better I'd think that you were paying off servants in my service to find out my schedule." he honestly hoped that wasn't the case but he was starting to get concerned at seeing her so often, to him it just didn't seem like a coincidence and so would start his own investigations on the estate staff. "I suppose that is true, you have to find a new way to live due to the actions of your former cousin. If I may... why did you leave the Crimson Lions? I notice that you no longer wear a mantle." he didn't want to pry but it was odd.
He knew though the Vermilion fell it didn't mean that they would need to leave their squads, from his understanding most of the family had turned their backs on Taiyo and remained law-abiding. He had to wonder if there was more to the story, then again even if there was he doubted he would want the answer to that mystery as it would end up with him in some kill room or being tormented in some twisted way. He nodded knowing that the roots of her family had essentially rotted away into nothing for several reasons and now she had nothing stopping her from living as she wished "It must be exhilarating for one such as yourself to have the shackles of nobility removed from you." he had no idea about her in general but from the little he did know she was a brawler that played nice because she was forced to.
"The space isn't so tight." he said from a crouching position as he picked up eight pebbles as she made the area brighten inside the cave. "When you are ready." he said moving to stand up before walking to be beside her. When she showed or said she was ready he would take one of the pebbles and throw it at a nearby bat, he had taken the time to make sure he'd only disturb one and soon it was aiming right at them angrily. "Incoming." he said moving to get ready to fight.
“If our family had cared, would my uncle’s head have been removed physically by his son?” she asked as she shrugged “ What the main family does is not my care as Taiyo is his own man and if he is going to allow a royal who gets too into her own head to walk all over him and be a laughing stock when I had warned him several times. Igneous fell of his own selfish missight of Taiyo. Whether my little cousin wishes to throw a tantrum or not, it is not my problem. He is gone and never will be given any respect from my lips. He didn’t heed my warning and remained blinded by that girl and her ditziness. He flew too close to her sun and plummeted into the bowels of his own sorrow.” She said blankly. “I would have done something regardless of what he wanted if I had known she was going to be granted an audience on the estate.” She spoke shaking her head.
[break][break]
“You are right while things have changed I am nothing like my cousin cause I am not blind to my own faults nor will I allow myself to be as I once was. And that your right, we were once a militaristic family turned to a band of anger tempted bandits at this point. There are still a few of us that will continue our fight within the magic knights. I hope all of them will be able to carry the weight of that target.” She said with a sigh crossing her arms as she listened to him inquire on the next subject.
[break][break]
Indeed it was odd how fate managed to keep placing him and one other infront of her, placing an every evolving tug a war on her mind, even if one side had no idea he was part of that game. “It may seem such but it seems we are intertwined by fate as only a rogue and some obsessed stalker would waste their money to pay some servant for information. While I might have needed to bribe family with money or give out money for information. I have never needed to unless a mission needed it as no other option.” She said dismissing the assumption she would do such a thing. She might have a few screws loose but she wasn’t an obsessed lion cub like her cousin was with failing to even figure out where his former flame was.
[break][break]
She then heard him ask of why she left the crimson lions. She shifted her weight some as the looked towards the sky “Well I joined the crimson Lions because it was an outlet and an expectation. It was to play nice. I played the part of being the good solider, playing nice with my squad members and being available for anything that was needed of me. I didn’t care to climb the ranks though I am sure some of the higher ups wanted me to climb. I left because It was only another restriction and a way to be forever examined by the public eye. I am a vermillion, I can’t exactly hide who I am. My personality, my magic. My own name gives me away. However, I don’t run or get angry for others. I left to refind myself now that I am not longer chained down by my duty to family and lineage. Plus I think of this as a very fun challenge to see how I can survive without all my usual outlets. I get to train to my heart’s content, travel, explore and just be myself without having to answer to anyone. It is honestly exciting and so far very fun.”She added a tiny bit of explanation. There was more to the story but she wasn’t about to let those come to light, just yet.
[break][break] She moved her head from side to side cracking her neck as she smirked at the go ahead from enlil “finally.”She said stretching before she brought her right hand to her face, flicking some of the hair out of the way of her face before moving it over her shoulder as if to grab something behind her before she brought it down quickly in a slicing motion. Around her hands, pure white feathers form glowing with white flames, with the calamus pointing away from her and curling slightly over the edge of her fingers giving the perception of talons. She watched the bat angrily watching them as she took a few steps back watching it’s every movement closely “Time it..” She whispered to herself feeling her hands twitch in excitement before she dashed forward once it got close to the cave wall. Using the face to the left of the entrance to parkour up as she twisted within the push off the surface flipping over the bat as she dug her talons into it’s skin, bringing it down with her as there was an Explosion of sorts tearing the bat apart decently, but still managing to leave the head intact and in piece. “Well the eyes are in one piece and not harmed” She spoke not disturbed by the dead bat in her hands as she looked it over before sitting it down on ground next to her flicking the blood from her feather covered hands, not that there was much or if any left thanks to her flames “Alright, stir the next one” She commented. Looking at him over her shoulder before looking at the cave entrance.

Flicking her hair from her face with her right hand before moving it over her shoulder as if to grab a weapon before bringing it down quickly in a slicing motion causes the spell to activate. Around her hands, pure white feathers seem to form glowing with white flames, with the calamus pointing away from her and curling slightly over the edge of her fingers giving the perception of talons. On a successful hit not only will she deal intermediate damage and leave second-degree burns on the spot hit but an explosive burst will happen causing a knockback of 4m with an additional 5m being added for every 10 control Leonora possesses. In addition to this, a white feather marking is left within the centre of the second-degree burn leaving the person that was hit feeling fatigued reducing their speed by -5 m/s. With the use of ammo rules, additional cursed feather marks can be made.[break]
[attr="class","Enlilimage"]❝Even a storm can be calm under the right circumstances.
[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]He would look at him as she asked her question "Yes, it would have because your family lacked any sense of discipline or order." he said bluntly "Had these been instilled in the current generation then this would have never happened because everyone would have known their place in the family and were they may not have been happy with it they would have accepted it." he was speaking from personal experience there. "You have anger issues. Your idiot cousin let another noble walk all over him in his home estate. You have another cousin who doesn't know the squad colours or symbols, your brother should have joined the church in all honesty as the magic knight life is likely going to chew him up before spitting him out. You have an uncle that is more of a ditz than the one who walked over Taiyo and that's just off the top of my head." he said in an irritated tone.
"Your family was meant to be a militaristic family but to be honest you're a mismanaged militia at best and at worst you're a group of incompetent and/or naive thugs" It was clear he wasn't holding back his punches on this but he believed she would understand where he was coming from, from an outsiders perspective. "A lot of youths looked up to your family, you were the beacons of righteousness. I suppose that mirror has been cracked for quite some time but now it's shattered completely." he said shaking his head, what was done was done and there was no way to unring that bell for anyone. "Spirits preserve me, that's what I'm talling about." he said stopping to look at her once more "What the main family does is none of my concern." he was clearly getting frustrated talking to her.
"Do you hear yourself? I said it sounded like it wasn't a cohesive family unit but everyone doing their own thing and you just proved with your words that were the case." he moved his fingers to his head to rub his temples "It's like speaking to a wall, actually, I think a wall would understand and take in the information better than you." he grumbled "It very much is a YOU problem as when there is an issue within a family it doesn't just affect that single person it can and does affect the entirety of that family. This is why Hania and even my own parents keep a tight reign on things because optics are a thing and when you are at the top people will always look for the smallest crack to bring you down." he explained hoping she would finally get a clue.
"If Kea and Leonard aren't strong enough they will soon find themselves very dead but only time will tell on that one." he brought his hand down as he spoke, it's not that he didn't believe she would attempt to protect them from Taiyo's ire, however, he knew that the work of a magic knight was a dangerous one and now she had given up her mantle there was less chance she could be there to protect them from the dangers that came with possessing such a job. He listened to her explanation but he wasn't wholly buying it, it was just far too much of a coincidence for it to happen three times in a row on separate days. He listened as she explained why she left the magic knights. He believed there had to be more to it than that but because he had no proof of this he couldn't call her on it.
"Given the earlier mentioned anger issues this will be quite the challenge, I fear you may fall into bad habits due to not having an outlet." he said his tone showing concern. There of course were jobs that mercenaries could do but in all honesty, it made no sense for her to leave the knights as it had nothing to do with her being a Vermilion, if anything, it would have worked in her favour to remain a magic knight as it would prove that she didn't condone what her cousin had done. It was just a very odd situation that didn't add up as she wanted him to believe it did. "At least you seem to be enjoying what is going on currently, but, do you think it will remain that way?" he asked.
He had seen many even within the butterfly circle be given new freedoms, they had enjoyed it very much at first but once the novelty had worn off they realized that it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be. They had pleaded to go back to how things once were before the freedom but they had made their choice and their families had never relented. He didn't have that issue as his family kept him on a very strict schedule and so his freedom and spare time were limited. This was his family's way of ensuring the strength of their bloodline. Optics were a thing and when you were in the upper echelon even within the noble ranks you couldn't afford to let any weakness or cracks show. He learned this at a very young age from the history of another family's decline and eventual fall from grace happening. It just wasn't as bad as the Vermilions.
He watched seemingly lowkey complaining that they hadn't gotten to this part sooner. It hadn't taken long after he threw the first pebble that she dealt with the bat, however, the way she pulled it apart make him glad he wasn't easily squeamish. Taking the head he would throw another pebble before setting to work carefully removing the eyes. He was quick and efficient in doing so, both eyes were left completely unblemished. He didn't have practical surgical knowledge even though he did know it in theory, his eye for detail actually came from his hobby in jewellery and gemology. One small flaw and the gem would be useless or the metal would have to be reforged. It took time and patience to cut a gemstone into the perfect shape with the right karat without blemish or flaws after all.
Leonora listened to his words as she shaked her head turning back to the bat cave as he tossed another pebble stirring another bat for them She took a step back before darting forward again following the bats path and projectory. Taking to the air, using some smaller rocks to catch ahold of the bat with her talon like gauntlets as she took ahold of the bat on the way down landing a few feet from Enlil as she stood up tearing the bat's head from it's body with ease as she looked towards the cave in out loud thought " I could send my hawk's hunting ground through that cave. Though I am sure it will be too destructive." She inquired in her own thoughts bring the bat over to him as she breathed, calming her heart down from all the excitement rushing through her.
[BREAK][BREAK] "Either way Enlil. My family is still family and I have faith that the squads I left Kea and Leonard in will keep them protected as they will be watched even more then they were previously. I know I will be fine and can find ways of maintain a 'healthy' outlet for my anger. If I could do it in the magic knights between missions I can do so here." She spoke flexing her fingers. " Though I am curious now that you mention it. If you took the same path as I have. How would you find a healthy outlet for your anger if not for the magic knights?' She inquired.
[BREAK][BREAK] She had the best outlet for her anger. She had training, she had missions and she had the dungeons. She had plenty to do when with them but the time being she had a challenge ahead that she was slowly losing to and that was boredom and the continual knowledge of all the various looks and understanding of those around her of the vermillion. She was finding it harder and harder to maintain her anger in a healthy manner with so many eyes on her as a commoner. In a way, she hated taking that bet but she was a woman of her word and never was going to break a bet. She just needed to wait and maintain herself till the deal was done.

[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]He placed the two eyes into the jar of liquid that he had been given and looked at her as she continued to deal with the next bat and spoke to herself "I don't think that would be wise, you would damage the items we need from these vermin." he said as he took hold of the second bat and threw a few more pebbles so they could do this quickly. He took the first bat and like before quickly and carefully removed the eyes from the bat. He disliked such gruesome work and the feel of the cooling blood on his hands but this was the task he was sent on by his father and so he needed to complete it, although It didn't mean that he had to like it however. Once finished he placed that set of eyes in the jar of liquid and waited for the next head to be passed to him.
"You are correct, they are still your family and this is something that you are unable to control." he said calmly using a water bottle he had to clean his hands after each eye he removed. "I believe that the squads will be more than capable of looking after their own, however, they will not always be surrounded by other magic knights. You, yourself know that sometimes they will be sent off to do tasks on their own." he said reminding her even though they would have times they wouldn't be protected and that time if her cousin wanted to strike that would be the best time, then again, that would mean patience and planning on Taiyo's part and as of yet he hadn't proven that he was capable of such things. They were the same age and yet he often found himself wondering how Taiyo was still alive with how he was.
"Perhaps..." he would reply in regard to what she said about finding a healthy outlet for her anger. "the down time between tasks would have been short and you would have had a lot of things at your disposal as a main noble family that you no longer do." he said softly, he hadn't put much thought into it, he just knew that this was her new reality. He was unsure how someone with anger issues was going to deal with the fact they couldn't take out their anger so much in dungeons and the like. It wasn't as if people posted about new dungeons or more difficult tasks. This was information that the magic knights knew first and foremost, most of the time regular citizens didn't even get this kind of information unless someone stumbled across it by accident.
He was also quite sure that tasks like this current one would bore her in time and so she would need something else to entertain her and let her anger out on. "That is quite simple, I wouldn't have taken the same path as you and I don't have anger issues so I have no need of thinking of ways to create outlets for such things." he said with a shrug taking the next bat that would have been handed to him to remove the eyes. It was strange to him that she would ask such a thing as in their three 'chance' meetings he hadn't shown any inclination of having anger issues so it was just odd. Then again, he supposed it was a hypothetical question but it would answer the same way regardless. "In honesty, I pity you. You've had everything stripped of you." he knew that she was a prideful woman and though he had no proof as to what had happened from what he had been told she wouldn't have given up her mantle willingly but that was nothing to do with him and so wouldn't ask for a second time about it.
[attr="class","Leoscroll"] "Yes some are sent off on their own for sure. Then again with me, I ensured most of my squad knew I worked by myself and got the necessary results. If I had help, I took the lead and ensured I got to still enjoy myself" She said fondly remembering some of her missions. She loved the outlet, even if it had so many restrictions of what she can get away with and what she can't. She nodded her head " Exactly, My flames aren't exactly the coolest in temperature. They are amongst the hottest in my family other then my cousins cosmic or my brother's light. Though I still wonder of his magic at times." She said looking at him with a nod as she turned back to the cave seeing to pebbles fly past her into the cave as it seemed he wanted to stir up more then just one at a time. [BREAK][BReAK] Seems he was on the same wave length as her. She hated how easy one bat at a time was and they had eight they needed and only taken two. She was more then willing to stir the entire cave. However, that was something her cousin would do while saying some cheesy one liner of a dad joke in an attempt to garner some reaction. No, That was what a child would do. She wasn't a child, she was a skilled huntress. Every thought and movement was processed and made in the most efficient manner. Sure she was a brawler and enjoyed her up close and personal attacks, only for those that didn't stay above her and out of her reach. She really hoped a future spell was going to assist in that at some point. Maybe she needed to focus on one. [BREAK][BReAK] She flexed her fingers feeling the pull on her mana as she looked around spotting the two bats that came out of the cave " These two will make four so four after this." She said to herself as a mental note taking two pebbles of her own before firing them at the bats getting their attention as she backed up keeping her eyes focused on them as they screeched flying at her. "Pathetic." She said softly before darting towards the bats herself taking ahold of both in either taloned hand, dealing intermediate damage and scorching burns as she clonked them together " I don't know how witches and gathers want to do stuff like this, after awhile, this starts to feel like a chore and its saddening these creatures arnt frenzied." She commented with a sigh of disappointment. Taking the heads off the body of each bat, ensuring not to damage the eyes the best she could as it wasn't as easy with two in her hands. [BReAK][BReAK] "You might say a pity all this was stripped but that depends, was it cloth that was stripped from me or was it chains keeping me from spreading my wings?" she asked him moving over to him before, sitting the heads down " Keep the bodies in a pile I will dispose of them once we got the amount we needed" she instructed.

[attr="class","Enlilscroll"]"To my understanding, all magic knights eventually end up doing tasks alone so your brother and cousin would be no exception to this rule." he said with a small shrug "But how the magic knights run isn't my circus and the squad members are not my monkeys so I honestly couldn't care less." he took the two heads of the bats he had been given and started to remove the eyes efficiently, Once removed he looked for any blemishes or imperfections before putting them into the jar of liquid. "That's four, we need four more sets." he said watching as she threw some more, it was clear that she was becoming impatient with the lack of challenge. This didn't bode well, as she had been out of the knights for only a short time and she was seemingly struggling even if only a little. That was a her issue and so he didn't really care.
"You seem like a dominant person Miss Vermilion, but then, one would expect such from a Vermilion I would expect." he said with a calm tone. He didn't really interact with people outside of the butterfly circle and those he did tended to be vetted to make sure that they wouldn't cause issues. It was a hassle in all honesty. He couldn't help but wonder if this was the reason that Taiyo had allowed his family to fall from grace, but he doubted that was the case as if it was surely he would have never have become a rogue and only had the family step out of the limelight. They could have lived as well-off commoners. Now the family laid not in tatters but ruins. He was glad that many such as Leonora had remained completely loyal to the kingdom instead of following the wayward Vermilion.
"I know white flames are the hottest, it is why I do not use them in my crafting, they would completely ruin the metal." he stated calmly watching as four more bats came forward from deeper within the cave. He knew all flames had their place just like anything else in the world but some metals he worked with were rare and so he had to be very careful with what he did with them. "Perhaps in time, if I find time I may the want to make you a piece of jewellery, I don't think you'd wear it though so I may not waste my time." he said in a thoughtful tone, he couldn't really do much so he used a bit more of the water he had to clean his hands once more. He knew he may come off as a clean freak but this was just a force of habit.
"Gathering can be quite theraputic." he said answering her question, it was rare for him to be able to do such things but he was kept on a very strict schedule between lessons and family expectations. "Each person is different, you just seem to be the kind who enjoys physical labour." that was nothing against her at all just an observation from their interactions "Not everything in the world is out for blood or battle crazed, you do realize this don't you." he rolled his eyes as he shook his head, he had to wonder what the hell was going through her head, actually, no he didn't he was quite sure there were things in there that would send sane people crazy and hungering for bloody battle. That didn't seem enticing to him in the slightest. He listened to her words and merely smiled, he had no intention of answering.
He shook his head "You aren't incinerating them." he said matter of factly as a retort to her words "I'm going to bury them, at least this way they will give nutrients to the world so we can further continue to survive." he wasn't a person of the church, not was he a person who dealt a whole bunch with nature but he did believe that their deaths were because of the selfish whims of a witch and so their deaths should at least provide some sort of worth to the world they had been stolen from.
[attr="class","Leoscroll"] "Oh most will definitely do tasks alone especially as they raised up in the ranks. As much as i know Leonard and Kea will be fine, I do not believe my other cousin will do anything stupid given the squads they wear on their mantles. While I don't wear jewelry as much as the next girl, I do wear a necklace or two if it holds meaning to me. Most things like that just gets in my way "she said "I will wear what comes with the territory of parties and outings." she said shrugging as she heard him toss more pebbles. She knew her annoying tick of boredom was kicking in, which in turn spurred up her anger. She needed to get this done. the longer this takes the more frustrated and anger she will get. [BReAK][BReAK] " Breath. "She told herself closing her eyes refinding her center. she calmed down the flame inside herself. She watched the bats stir from the cave before she took two more pebbles tossing them in right after the first two bats came to make themselves known [BReAK][BReAK] "I am just not one to sit around and talk politics. I had found the best way to talk is one's movements and actions in battle, for each holds truth. "She spoke going after the first two bats using the rocks to jump up as she grabbed on to them both bringing down both bats. , tearing them apart, keeping the heads in tact as she listened to him giving her an absolute. " It is better to burn them. Their bodies are riddled with disease. using their ashes can fertilize crops." She spoke giving him a blank expression as she sighed turning to the last two bats making quick work of both of them before sitting down the four bodies " There there is eight... lets make quick work of them so we can get to the fire birds." She said folding her arms as her white flames vanished from her hands while she waited
