[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol stretched as he woke up in his quarters for the day in the Green Mantis base and he yawned as he got dressed slipping into his usual attire for when he went out on missions for the knights which was his black pants and a black sleeveless shirt with his mantle resting on his shoulders like usual, after a few quick stretches the albino Mantis would grab his family katana and slide it into its space at his side and he would put his grimoire in his holster and secure it as well before he headed down to have breakfast. After a simple breakfast of eggs bacon and bread with a cup of coffee Sol was ready to start dealing with missions, he had grown up with more lavish food for meal options and enjoyed it but he was starting to enjoy the simplicity of the meals they had at the green mantis base since while simple it was still delicious, [break][break] as he got another cup of coffee he moved over to where the requests were and he sipped the earthy drink as he let his eyes roam the papers before his eyes caught a request for help in the region of Aristaeus Basin and seemed to involve man eating vegetables, looking at that with a raised eyebrow Sol smirked before he grabbed the paper and took another drink of coffee as he went over the finer details,”hmm seems the botanists got a bit to over zealous with their creations ah well its nothing that we cant handle though... hmm perhaps I should grab that new member of the squad as well Kea I think his name was” he said to himself before he would down the rest of his coffee before heading out to see where the young man in question was, since it was the start of the day and he didnt spot the man anywhere inside eating breakfast he assumed he was outside getting ready for the day as well. [break][break] Stepping outside he glanced around before he called out.”hey Kea I got a mission and your tagging along I want to see how you do out in the field” he stated hoping he would catch the boys attention, he knew that the man was trained due to who his family was and while Sol had issues with the family mainly in regards to Taiyo and his insane actions he had taken with his family he wasnt going to hold that against Kea as he had done nothing wrong and seemed like a nice kid. That said Sol was still a cautious person for a reason and wanted to make sure that the young Vermillion could handle himself out on the field since being trained was one thing but getting experience on the field was a completely different thing and it was something he believed that all knights needed regardless of stature or squad, normally Sol would ask Valo to join him on missions but it seemed at this time that the elder mantis was busy and Sol knew that he couldnt always team up with him as well. Kea was an early riser that made quick work of washing and brushing. There was nothing special ore fancy used or done, nor styling of their hair. Breakfast had been potato, tomato, and spinach with black tea to drink. They weren't a stranger to simple foods, just cooking. One day he did want to learn how to cook, but today was unlikely to be that day. He only planned on trying when and if he could ever get help with that, but learning wasn't exactly a main priority. What was? Becoming a good magic knight and getting stronger. To learn more about the world as a secondary but still important priority. Food preparation was sort of on the back burner for the time being, as he wasn't the type who liked focusing on too much at a time nor stressing over what can't be helped. Stress over what you can change. Right now? They were outside doing yoga. It was a good way to start the day and better to do every day. The junior had been finishing up when Sol had approached him. Hearing about going on a mission certainly caused the youthful man to pop back up from their final position a bit faster than normal. “A mission? What's it about? I'll do my best! I can get my broom, unless it's not far? Running a few miles is fine.” Of course his version of 'not far' wasn't exactly a normal persons idea of something not being all that far away.
He was hungry for missions, to do something besides circle his own tail with daily routines. They would never be trapped again, so they needed to move forward as strongly as possible. Any bit of good done, any change in routine that wasn't bad was good. “After talking to my cousin Leonard I've started to realize it might be a good thing that I was an extra.” He couldn't exactly call himself an extra right now. What was his position in the family right now? It was hard to say, as it was starting to look like when or where you were born was mattering less and less. He had no faith in their one cousin whatsoever, considering he couldn't even get a hold of themselves in public. Had he never heard of self control? It's how you don't burn family and friends, it's how to be a proper Vermillion. It was supposed to be, right? He was never given training for running anything, but it felt like he was doing it more and better than the person who had been in a better position in life. “I think Green Mantis is the perfect squad for me so I'll always do my best here. I would have even if it wasn't, but I feel like I can try harder since it is?” Did that make sense? He wasn't sure if it came out right, but it didn't matter. The red head knew what he meant, even if he wasn't sure how to say it in the best way. The youth was fully energized with his typical excitement.

[break][break] The beasts scary touch was that they had a human face on each side where the eyes would be and inside the beasts beak were row after row of razor sharp bone coated wooden teeth, as they finished forming they disconnected from the ground and waited for them. As Sol would motion to the second one to Kea he spoke.”you can ride on that one so its easier dont worry they look frightening but they listen to me so its safe” he explained as he would hop onto the one that was closest to him and he gently patted its neck before he would wait for Kea to mount his own before the two would suddenly take off and start flying toward the location of the farm in question, as they flew Sol heard Kea talk about how that being in Green mantis was the best squad for him since he could do his best here and that he felt that he could try harder due to it being a squad that resonated with him. [break][break] Sol nodded as he enjoyed the feeling of the air rushing past him.”yeah it feel easier to work harder when you are in a squad that you can do better in I should know I found out that the Silver Eagles didnt fit me but once I was here in Green Mantis it was easier to know that this was the best place for me” he explained as the location of the farm was coming up and as they would get closer Sol would command the golems to start descending and they would circle and start to slowly approach the ground so neither knight got jostled and once they landed Sol would dismount and stretch a bit before he waited for his fellow Mantis to dismount as well before the two Itsumade would start to crumble and degrade away as Sol cut the mana from them.”alright here we are now we just need to find the owners of this farm and we can get this done hopefully" he stated as he glanced around for the one who put out the request [break][break]

Kea made a face of confusion at the details of the mission. His tilted a bit towards the left and eyebrows bunched, his mouth opening a bit as they tried to understand it before speaking. “I may not be a botanist, but I feel like someone can't accidentally make man eating plants that are too much for them to handle without being very stupid. Plants grow after all, right? So its just better to not make man eating plants... I mean where they going to feed them monster meat? People?” It just felt like a bad idea to make any plant that ate meat that wasn't going to stay teeny tiny. Plants grow and the more they grow, the stronger they get. For a meat eating plant, it would mean they could get more dangerous. The comment about the broom for some reason filled Kea with slight dread. It was typically exciting to experience new things, like riding on a spell like a golem or a transportation spell. Sols magic still looked a bit like a living nightmare to him, so of course he had straightened his head and brows. There was curiosity, it fought against the fear that had started to build. All of that feel to plain curiosity when Sols eyes shifted in color. Why did that happen? But the creature that formed a snake, which wouldn't have been so scary without the human faces or fangs or other less than cute features.
“Oh great spirits...” He had thought the tree spell had been scary to see, this would take a bit more time to get used to. His eyes widened staring at it, but Sols words were a reminder that it was fine. No matter how it looked, this was a guild mates magic. It would be fine to trust it, because the Vermillion trusted his senior. He raised a hand up, waving it a bit, “Sorry for the uh, reaction... I'm.. coming. Th-thank you for the ride.” Even if it was scary, it wasn't bad. This was what he told himself as the red head walked over to the one meant for him to ride on. There was no pause on getting on the thing, though their mind was still screaming. Why do it when you're scared? Because Kea trusted him. If he let irrational or maybe rational fear got in the way of doing something, than what was the point in even trying to be a magic knight? So he got comfortable and held on tight. Seeing the sighs above when the golem flew made all the fear wash away for the feeling on wonder. It was a nice view, even if it was to head to a mission. Everything looked different from above, didn't it? Like being high up in a building, only the view moved. “I want magic that makes me fly one day...” It felt a bit freeing, even if it wasn't his own magic doing it. Obviously this wasn't his first time flying, but it was hard to get used to after not doing it for so long.
Maybe in a few years it would become old hat to the green mantis, but not a few months. Hearing that Sol had been part of the Silver Eagles had been a bit surprising. “You were a silver eagles?” For some reason, it felt unexpected. It was one of the squads that was more likely to be filled with nobles and he wasn't sure how friendly that made it. Noble culture was very complicated and not really warm and fuzzy, putting people considered extras like him at the bottom of the food chain. Taiyos actions didn't exactly help things, but that didn't matter anyway. “Sorry for being surprised.” The landing was smoother than expected, or maybe he just really sucked at landing with a broom. 'Maybe I just need to practice with the broom later.' The young man thought as he got off the golem that he was still very positive was ripe of nightmare fuel. “Most of my family go to the Crimson Lions, but I didn't actually want to join them. When I was the extra of the family, becoming stronger than those closer to the leadership role would have looked like challenging them.” It wasn't that his personality probably wouldn't fit. He was a passionate person and certainly not shy, but at the same time he also didn't exactly act like most modern Vermillion. His temper was a bit worse than the average person in the family, but he also had good self control.
Unrestrained lava melted just about everything in its path. Kea viwed temper that way, as something that could be very destructive so needed to be treated with care. The farm seemed weirdly... quiet? Was it supposed to be? His violet blue eyes looked around, but he didn't see any people? “Do we approach one of the buildings, or just look for the plants?”

[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol listened as Kea seemed confused about the details of their mission while questioning how the farmers could accidentally make man eating plants and questioned what the usage for them were, at that the tall mantis could only shrug a bit.”honestly im not sure what they were intending to use them for though it could be that they could be used to handle scraps from butcher shops and the like instead of letting such things go to waste but as far as how these things came about its possible that they could have started small then magic caused them to grow at a advanced rate or even uncontrollably” he said as he thought as he continued.”we must remember that we live in an age of magic Kea and if the mana in the land was especially abundant it could cause abnormalitys no matter the reasoning though we need to get rid of the problem before these plants grow out of control” he stated as they would mount the golems and started off towards Aristaeus Basin at good speed. [break][break] Sol had to chuckle a bit at Keas reaction to his magic as he knew that it was a bit extreme for most people but he waved off the apology.”its alright Kea just remember even as frightning as this magic is its mine and you are a comrade so you need not fear it” he explained. As they took off and flew Sol enjoyed the wind in his hair as he took a piece of black ribbon out and would tie his hair into a loose ponytail so it was more neat and less of a target as they spoke during the journey, as Kea would question him being a Silver Eagle in surprise Sol mearly nodded.”yes I started out there but I soon left as I realized that I had no trust with the members of the squad due to the rumors and bias that seem to follow me and I realized I couldnt stay in a squad that had no one to have my back it would result in my death in the long run so I left and after going thru the magic knight exam again I ended up in Green Mantis and the rest as they say is history” he said looking at Kea with a wistful smile, he was truly happy he had made the choice to come to green mantis and it was something that was one of the best choices he made. It was in the squad that he found allies and friends and people that he knew would have his back no matter the cost. [break][break] “its alright its understandable that some family have traditions of going into a single squad but its not a bad thing to break out of the mold and try something different we need a different perspective sometimes and even our familys can benefit from that as well” he stated as they had landed and Sol glanced around and heard Kea speak he pondered for a moment as he spotted a home near the front of the farm but before he even moved the senior magic knight glanced around the area looking for anything out of place and once he found none he motioned for his junior to follow him.”this house is most likely where the farmers are hold up for safety” he explained as he would walk up the porch and gently knock on the door a few times before the sound of shuffling was heard and then the lock on the door slid before it opened a crack.”W..Whos there?” a young male farmer asked who seemed to be around seventeen or eighteen years of age.”Apologies My name is Sol and this is my fellow squad member Kea we are from Green Mantis here to deal with the plants that are rampaging” he explained kindly. [break][break] The Farmer seemed to be a bit more relieved as he opened the door a bit more and looked at them before nodding.”they are located in the back near the oldest vegetable patches we were testing out a new species hoping it would be useful for reducing waste and give more nutriants to the remaining soil but not long after we planted them they started to grow too quickly and before we could reign them in they over run the farm” the farmer explained as Sol nodded in understanding .”I see rest assured we can get them under control Lets go Kea” he said as he would motion for Kea to follow him as they headed outback to where the patches would be. As they approached Sol gently put a finger to his lips to indicate they needed silence and as they got within viewing distance the decay mage spotted twelve giant tomatos all devouring what seemed to be two deer that had been caught by surprise, Sol looked at Kea before he whispered “stay close we dont want them to seperate us and if you need help let me know” he said before he took a few steps forward. [break][break] The tomatos suddenly turned revealing their fangs and started to rush at them with their limbs outstretched and Sol would take a deep breath before he whispered Scorn while raising his right arm up and snapping his fingers, as he did three trees appeared before him and started to grow from saplings to fully grown trees and then started to twist themselves into hulking four legged creatures with massive jagged from legs and smaller branches on their back with red leaves as well. They had flat faces with black white eyes but when their line like mouth opened there were row upon rows of sharp teeth inside. While that was happening a larger tree sprouted and grew behind them as in was imbedded with three deer skulls in them and after the tree had grown the golems would dislodge themselves from the tree. They were massive at six meters tall and their leges were digitigrade and beastlike though made from wood and their limbs were massive as well being made from three brances and coated with bone and the joints making them seem even more terrifying with large clawed hands at the end of them, its waist was small showing it to seem as if emaciated and dripping blood and the human like figure embedded in its chest with glowing red eyes, the deer skull was its actual head and it had a mouth full of razor sharp teeth with equally sharp antlers as well. Finishing the golems were long and almost bonelike tails easily capable of lashing a for or choking them with ease.”lets get this started” sol said with a small smirk. [break][break]

Kea hadn't thought of Sols suggestion, how handy a plant that eats scraps could be. It was true that even in hunting, there would be parts not considered useful in the kitchen. These were typically trimmed off and tossed. Hoofs, bone marrow, and bones had uses he head. This didn't mean one could use up every single shred of all animals and expecting such would be unreasonable. Even if he had zero experience in cooking, it didn't change that he had watched others cook before. Even his master had been spotted cutting extra fat off of a piece of steak before cutting the meat up for cooking in the past. “Oh, that makes a lot of sense.” Sol was certainly showing off his intelligence or experience at the moment, or maybe both. “I didn't know magic could be uneven in soil, but that makes sense. Kind of scary to think about.” The young man was now feeling at the least, far more sympathetic towards the stranger that had called for help. If a plant could eat the unwanted scraps, it would make those odds and ends useful. The plants growing out of control and how unpredictable magic could get sometimes? Being a farmer might be a lot more dangerous than he thought. There's nor just the worry of wild animals, pests and drought, but apparently unpredictable magic in the soil as well! 'That's kind of cool.'
Though the younger green mantis would never become a farmer, the thought of the possible challenges one might have to face as one was a bit exciting. “I'm trying to get used to your magic, I know you would never hurt me. You have my full trust, I've just never seen anything like your magic before. I'll get there!” No matter how nightmare like the stronger green mantises magic looked, he was still a good and trustworthy person. What they said about being part of the silver eagles had been like was a bit surprising to him. The idea of not trusting another magic knight hadn't occurred to him even once. 'No trust in a squad?' His mind raced a bit. “I didn't know being in a squad could end up that way. We're all fighting to protect clover, so why let what others say effect how you treat a member?” Would there be an answer that Sol could give that could satisfy him? The man really was inexperienced, to not even consider the possibility that being part of a a squad could end up that way. How can you still be considered working for the same goal if you don't have all your squad members backs? The whole thing left him feeling and looking confused. Instead of feeling curious about it though, the teenager just looked confused and upset. 'How complicated is the world?'
The idea of his family befitting from Keas mold breaking was a bit surprising to think about. His face briefly became blank before breaking into laughter. He wasn't sure why, but the thought of most of his family learning from him was amusing. “The only family member that would ever listen to me is my older sister. I think that no matter what happens, most of them will always see me as an extra.” The laughter died off a bit, the thought sinking in a bit more. “At least she always listens. I'll try to get in as much information and perspectives as I can! Learning is amazing.” He didn't even consider how lop sided that had been. It made things more clear that maybe he hadn't been kept at the estate so often to protect him. It might have been simply a sign of Vermillion affection. Their sort of care and love was typically shown by putting its youths through harsh and unrelenting training, which included leaving the estate. Maybe they had been let out for social events, but that was it. When Sol motioned the violet blue eyed person to follow, they of course did so. There was no way he couldn't move along with excitement. But the gentle knock his senior did was a reminder to have self restraint, most people didn't like too much excitable energy coming at them at a time.
The youth of the farmer surprised Kea a bit. 'They're around my age and already making new plants?' But the 'we' comment helped him understand better. Maybe that person was a farming genius, or maybe it was a bunch of people doing cool things together. The plants would have likely been very cool to have if things didn't go aery, right? Now he wanted to see what they could have been like, but of course it wasn't possible to see the non chaotic version, because that wasn't what happened. The man gave a bit of a wave when Sol introduced him, but otherwise let the calmer and older person do the talking. Of course he also followed along when the farmer started to show them the way, an eager bounce to every step and a sparkle of joyful curiosity in their eyes. Seeing the tomato plants felt surprising. 'What do they taste like?' He was going to start chattering away, but Sols motion to stay quiet kept that from happening. Would they get to try a tomato after it was killed? But it seemed like they ate the deer a bit faster than expected. Sols spells looked more terrifying than the tomato plants, but he reacted a bit less to it this time. Was kea getting a bit used to the magic? Kea stared at them a bit wide eyed, but not much else in reacting to the golems.
What spell to use? It didn't matter as long as it was an attack and he gave sol a heads up first. The things were already looking at them, right? So keeping quiet was useless now. “Please close your eyes briefly.” After that the Vermillion moved his right arm, the thumb and index finger snapping while he spoke, “Uthraxx Ioth”. A light burst forth. Hopefully it blinded the monsters that were running at them before? It seemed to be the case, as they were now just aggressively keeping in place. With the light dimmed, all that was left seemed to be a ring of light dripping with lava. A shard of light with a lava spiral inlay within appeared in the circle before he moved his right hand forward. Seeing as the enemies were no longer running, the shard easily hit its intended target, one of the tomatoes. “I wonder how the tomatoes taste...” It was an accident to say it out loud, but damn was he curious!
Name of Spell: Ioth Uthraxx Elemental Type: Light ¦ Lava Rank & Spell Type: Intermediate ¦ Restraining ¦ Attack Creation Range & Speed: 40m ¦ 20m/s Mana Cost: 20 ¦ 10 Stats Effected: +4 Power ¦ 1/2 Junior Endurance Debuff Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Snake Binding, Blinding, Knockback Description: Saying the spell's name in the wrong order (Uthraxx Ioth) while snapping their thumb and ring finger on their dominant creates a burst of blinding light that has the potential to blind a person for a single round as per the blinding rules. When the light has dimmed after that split second what appears to be a magic circle in front of him it's bright but dripping with lava. From the magic circle, a shard of light with a spiralling lava inlay starts to show itself. The shard looks to be around six inches long and three inches wide. Pushing their hand forward he can send the shard in the general direction of an enemy, if it lands a hit successfully it will deal intermediate damage and leave serious second-degree burns where it hit while also knocking them back for 4m with an additional 5m being added for every 10 power he as. Moreover, the lava almost takes on the attributes of creeping ivy and spirals around the enemy with light shards occasionally flickering through binding the enemy. While this restraint is in place the enemy in question will take an additional 1/2 rank in junior damage every round thereafter until it is destroyed. This restraint requires intermediate rank damage to be destroyed but due to the snake binding perk will remain in place until the end of the round. With the use of the ammo rules, additional shards can be created.

Sol nodded at Keas agreement that the use of such plants made sense, the use of such magical plants was useful but like the younger mantis said the uneven magic in soil could cause many issues.” indeed but thankfully thats why we do what we do to keep the people safe even from accidents that happen” he explained as he heard Kea state that he was still trying to get used to his magic and that he knew he wouldnt hurt him but it was something he had never seen before.”I have no doubt my magics will not be the last that you see that are shocking or amazing the depth of magic is vast and so much is unknown but we can but take it one day at a time” he said with a small smile, that smile dropped though once he heard the young Vermillion explain that he didnt undestand why someone could treat someone else with such distrust even as a fellow knight due to rumors.
Sol merely shook his head knowing full well the reason.”honestly Kea its because we humans are fearful creatures and fear can make people do terrible things but also we are judgemental as well and without looking deeper into something it can lead to distrust and even hatred, I know because of how I have been perceived ever since I got my grimoire I had people looking at me at my red eyes and blood magic and thought me to be a symbol of bad luck even as I fought to keep them safe its a somber thought but one that I can shrug off now with no issue as I have found a squad that accepts me for me” he explained as they had arrived at their destination. Kea went on to laugh a bit at what he had said and he then explained that only his older sister listened to him and no matter what the rest often saw him as an extra. “then seek her wisdom and focus on self improvement but more then anything Kea keep striving to improve there will always be naysayers but the more you try the more likely you will be to change most peoples opinions” he suggested.
As they saw the tomatos rushing towards them and Sol summoned his own golems and Kea was quick to tell him to close his eyes for a moment before unleashing a spell.Sol shut his eyes briefly as he saw the flash but wasnt blinded due to his eyes being close before he opened them and sent his six golems forth. The first tomato that had been blinded was approached by one of the scorn golems and it quickly brought its large leg up before slamming it down and causing the tomato to splat across the ground in a shower of tomato guts, the other two scorn golems had charged forward as well and the first impalled one right thru the mouth as it had tried to bite thru the golems wooden horns only to be violently skewered and then thrown off as it stopped moving, the last scorn golem was quick to bare its wooden teeth and had caught the tomatos head in a surprising burst of speed and with the sharpened wood fangs had bitten half of the tomatos head clean off as it spit it out the remains of the body collapsing to the ground.
The Wendigos were quick to move forward as well as Sol was focused on making sure that Kea was safe but not letting him think that he was doing all the work , the vicious looking golems caught one of the golems in its claws before bringing its fangs mouth against the man eating berrys head and with a maw even more frighting then the tomatos own it bit down chomping straight thru. The second wendigo suddenly lashing out its tail and impaling one of the tomatos on it before with a flick it sent the body flying past.the final wendigo had gone stright for the closest tomato near it and with a powerful swipe of the claws on its right arm the plant was bisected.”thats half done so far.” Sol said as he saw the tomatos were wanting to bite but now were in disseray from the suddenly culling of their numbers

How Sol spoke about seeing more only made Kae more curious and excited. “With talk like that, it makes me never wanna go home so it can really happen.” The young man was smiling, a sparkle in their eyes. He wanted to be surprised and left to wonder with each new magic within their sights. The burning feeling of wonder and discovery were both nice things. It was freeing to be a magic knight and work in a sense. It didn't feel like work yet, not when he wanted to travel and fight bad things. But the topic of superstition was certainly bringing it back to dark things. He didn't want to make the other thing of bad things. “Don't cross a black cats path or bad luck, don't break a mirror or bad luck, auspicious days to give birth or get married, inauspicious days to get married or give birth, some think red hair is a sign of a witch, some think black is the color of death, some think white is the color of death, both colors are used in funerals at different countries. I feel like if we're mature and adult enough to put our lives at risk to protect others, then we should be mature enough to put no stock in such things. There was never a good reason for them to treat you that way, no matter what superstitions they were following. Its better to confront fears instead of painting pretty things over them if those pretty things hurt other people.”
Stories, myths, folktales, superstitions. Those things probably made many people happy, but he believed that didn't mean they should be held on too strongly. Make believe folktales and myths to help you feel better are a bit different when it starts being used to harm others. Seek his sisters wisdom? He should probably say something about not wanting to bother her. There was no need to address that though, right? His sister was an introvert, unlike the younger Vermillion who loved to approach and interact with others. “Aren't magic knights supposed to be better than that?” Just because he knew about fear and superstition didn't mean he wanted to believe a magic knight would fall to such things. Knights were supposed to protect the kingdom, to be passionate and devoted like a bonfire with a sturdy base around it. A good bonfire needed a base sturdy enough to keep the fire contained and controlled. What did it say about some magic knights when they would put another in danger over that? 'I hope that it doesn't happen that often. I want to believe in all the squads.' It would be a lie to say watching Sols golems tear the blinded monsters apart wasn't interesting and amazing. Their eyes sparkled at how quickly each one killed a different monster. The blinding had been quite effective, which made Kea quite happy.
Part of war was being strong, but another was strategy. Blind the enemies may have been a simple strategy, but it was better than blindly attacking and hoping raw strength would win, especially when Sol was the senior in this situation. The one with higher ranking or more experience should be respected and the red eyed person was both. He wanted to run towards the enemies, one foot tapping on the ground a bit. It was better to keep a distance for now. Getting close would just make it easier to bite him, right? So the leg movement was to remind himself to keep in place, unless a monster got a bit close. At least Sol had killed the one he had used the restraining spell on, as he wasn't quite sure the spell would have been able to last. It had, but likely only because of how long it had been confused from the flash of light. It was certainly struggling now, but not before the spell had taken it down completely. “Sol, are there monster plants besides the tomatoes?” He didn't know about the monster carrots, so all he could do was judge by observing the ones he could see. “Gonna go see if there's anything else, I don't like bad surprises.” If he wanted, the vermillion likely wouldn't have to put any work into the mission. Sol was clearly strong enough to do everything himself, but the man never liked the idea of being dead weight.
Why laze about when you can do your part? Or as much as you can. Put your back, breath, sweat and blood into it! Sol had taken down so many, but how many had Kea taken down? One terrifying deer eating tomato monster? One wasn't enough! The young man moved both of his arms, putting the back of his palms together. His right hand faced himself, the other in the outward direction before twisting his hands so that the roles were reversed, the right hand now facing outwards and the left inwards. The right hand then moved up, making a sphere of light. The left hand meanwhile had moved downwards, creating a crescent moon of lava. The lava and light both merged together in a swirl of light and lava after he moved his hands away from both. The sphere quickly moved up the hands before coating his entire body in the mixture. Letnic Thekrel was a strange spell, but good if you wanted to move in a dangerous area with some protection. The motions had all been pretty fast and easy to make, so casting the spell had taken very little time. This gave him more time to run towards where the danger plants were supposed to be, though it seemed the tomatoes had already recovered from the light before and where already trying to get to Sol and himself.
The tomato monsters were faster than kea, but one too close to him gave it some minor burned, a flash of light with the attack blinding it briefly and knocking it back. Despite not being a strong attack, it seemed none of them were in a rush to get blinded and burned. It seemed the Vermillion might have bitten off more than he could chew however when orange colored tentacle like things started to burst from the ground after him after he reached the garden area. “What?!” Being able to move in time from the carrot that plunged from underneath didn't make him feel less confused. “I know why the carrots are like this but WHY!?”

Above the one facing the sky an orb of light in the shape of a sun is seen whereas below the other is an orb of lava shaped like a crescent moon. Bringing the hands away they bring the sun and moon together creating a swirling lava light orb that climbs up his hands and covers his body in this elemental mixture like a second skin. This second skin always looks like it's in motion and requires senior rank damage to break, however, if damaged but not completely broken then it will repair itself at the beginning of the following round, this can happen three times before it will no longer repair itself. On top of this, due to the heat being given off by the shield aspect of this spell if they get within melee range (1m) a person will gain minor second-degree burns. On a successful melee strike a burst of light and lava will create a flash of blinding light that gives the possibility the opponent could be blinded for a single round as per the blinding rules, in addition to this they will be dealt intermediate damage that will also cause them to be knocked back by 4m with an additional 5m being added for every 10 power they posses, where the strike will also burn the skin with severe second-degree burns.

Sol had to hold back a chuckle at Keas words and energy as he mentioned that he didnt want to go home so his words could come true and the white haired man shook his head slightly,”as much as I know you want to do that it is still your home and everyone needs a place to come back to in order to rest” he explained before as they conversation went on he heard Kea start to ramble about superstitions that were common and he shook his head a bit as he mentioned being mature enough to not put stock in such things and that there was no point in them treating Sol in such a way. At that Sol smiled a bit before he spoke “thank you Kea I do agree there was no point in how I was treated and you would think that people are mature enough but I was told one big thing growing up that has stuck with me and explains much” he said before he turned a bit serious as his gaze locked onto the younger Mantis.” The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear and the greatest fear is fear of the unknown..Fear what you do not understand ” he said remembering it was the words of a wise philosopher.
“I'm not saying to always stay petrified of what lurks at the edge of shadow but being wary isnt a bad thing but its when that fear is pointed against something that makes no sense is when it becomes troublesome if that makes any sense” he explained, as they had started to deal with the vegetables and Sols golems were making quick work of them he saw Kea using his spells in order to weaken them so dealing with the overgrown pests would be easier, as he managed to slay one of the tomatos the senior knight smirked glad to see how the young mantis could work his magic it was not straight forward fightning but there was nothing wrong with that at all as more of the tomatos started to rush at him Sol shifted the attention of his golems to deal with them. In an instantly the wendigos and scorn seekers were on the tomato creatures as two of the scorn seekers crushed a tomato with their strong legs before the last one had opted to body slam the last one splattering it across the ground and its wooden belly.
The remaining two tomatos didnt last as long either as the two wendigos had opted to kill them quickly as one had caught a tomato in its mouth and its wooden teeth were far stronger then plants and it snapped its jaws shut and bisected the hungry berry, the last one had made the foolish attempted to try and take a bite out of the wooden beast and was reward with a swipe of its claws before it could even sink its fangs close as it would then fall to the ground in pieces. As he watched he heard Kea ask if their were monsters here besides the tomatoes and Sol blinked for a moment before there were any other monsters around before suddenly an orange tendril emerged from the ground trying to snag and take a bite out of the younger knights as Sol spoke.” seemed it wasn't just tomatos be careful if these things are underground its better to remain together so we cant get ambushed as easy” he said as he moved closer to Kea and he cracked his knuckle as another spell activated this time his hands darkened and would gain vine like markings as another tendril emerged from the ground but Sol was quick to act before it could hit Kea the Elder mantis caught it in his hand it whipped around and struck Sol but the man didnt even flinch as it was just an annoying smack against his mana skin which was extreamly strong. However the tendril didnt get to react to long as it started to thrash as suddenly fron the point where Sol was touching roots and saplings had started to grow stealing the creatures strength as it withered in his hand before dieing from the curse.”alright thats one now for another” he stated as he saw another one going for his last wendigo but the beast caught the tendril in its mouth before it lunged forward using its strength to rip the carrot beast from the ground before delivering a deadly bight to it.”huh carrot monsters interesting” Sol muttered as he glanced around warily knowing there was most likely more lurking

“I love all my family dearly, they mean everything to me! Especially my older sister.” Kea wasn't sure how he was supposed to stay near Sol, until two of the carrot monsters were taken down. He stopped running briefly, only to spot more tendrils coming his way. This was definitely his own fault for jumping into everything, but that didn't the need for speed. “It worked but I still feel really stupid!“ The tangerine red haired youth rushed towards the tall albino that had gotten closer to him before stopping. He was planning to fight them too after all, not just run around like tasty monster bait. Seeing as he intended to attack, the blue violet eyed clovian moved his right hands index finger towards their left hands wrist. A small ball of light formed between the hands, ready for use as soon as one of them went for him. It wasn't like that took long since one had already going for them. Well, clearly more than one as Sol has already taken two down. “Maybe I don't understand the fear thing because I've never experienced the real full version, but I also don't think an emotion should ever trump what's right!” Of course he sounded very firm on that, despite part of it involving admitting ignorance. It was better to admit your faults than not to. It wouldn't make sense to say he understood suffering or fear, not to him at least.
The worst thing he ever experienced was being locked away, but that wasn't anything like a fear of something or someone. It didn't physically injure him, nor was there any yelling. How harmful can isolation really be? “Why not explore and find out if you don't know? If you find out the thing, then it will make sense right? Like with the carrots.” As if on que, an orange fibrous tentacle plunged from the ground, breaking through the shorter mans barrier. Kea moved his lithe body a bit so the spell would be facing away from Sol before opening his hands up more. The ball changed to the size of a basket ball as it was launched towards the tentacle. The monster was flung away and out of the dirt, their appendages wiggling a bit from being blinded from the light and disoriented from no longer being in the ground. “But hey they aren't hidi-” Feeling some of the soil under his feet moving, the young man quickly moved from the spot he had been standing at. It seemed kea had bitten off a bit more than he could chew and that realization started to hit his face a bit seeing the giant centipede like carrot pop above ground where he had been standing seconds before. 'A Vermillion isn't allowed to be overwhelmed!' that's what his mind said, but one of his legs was grabbed by a tentacle underground while he had been trying to cast another spell.
“Did I kick a carrot centipede beehive?!” He was starting to get that maybe he has pissed off far too many monsters off at a time and that wasn't be best feeling for him.
Name of Spell: Houpetor Scet Elemental Type: Light Rank & Spell Type: Intermediate ¦ Attack Creation ¦ Restraining Range & Speed: 40m ¦ 20m/s Mana Cost: 20 ¦ 10 Stats Effected: +4 power ¦ -2 m/s speed ¦ -5 Mana Regen Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Snake Binding, Blinding, Knockback Description: Touching only the index finger to the opposite wrist keeping an inch between the palms creates an orb light that appears around the size of a ping pong ball, taking his hands away quickly makes the orb grow to the size of a basketball giving the potential to blind anyone within 20m for a single round with the use of the blinding runes. Pushing his hand towards the ball he is able to direct it in the general direction that he wants to send it. If it successfully hits a person then it will not only do intermediate damage that leaves second-degree burns and knocks back the person by 4m with an additional 5m being added for every 10 power he has, it will also seemingly grow tendrils that will wrap around the body. These tendrils will do no damage, however, they will not only reduce a person's speed by 2m/s and reduce the amount of mana a person can regain per round but also cut their spell cap by 50%. To break through the tendrils they need to take intermediate damage, although, due to the Snake Binding perk they will remain until the end of the round even if broken. With the use of ammo rules, additional orbs can be created but the speed will go down by -1 for every additional person trapped within the tendrils.

Sol would nod as he heard Kea state that he didnt understand the fear aspect because he never encountered the full version but said that emotion should never trump what was right to which the albino would nod again.” I agree with you on that Kea but sadly humans are emotional creatures and we are dictated by the most of the time you may not understand fear the way I explained it but I have no doubt that you will in your time as a magic knight but its important not to let it control you even if that is difficult” he explained, he knew from experience that it was never an easy thing but with time one could and would learn. As Kea was quick to mention that if unsure why not see and explore to find out the answer to that the elder of the two shook his head.”Exploration is fine and well but somethings are best left undisturbed since some answers are unpleasant even deadly at times” he explained knowing that sometimes the reason things were left alone or never explored was for the good of others or ones self.
When Kea mentioned that they were hidden before one of the carrot monsters proved him wrong Sol quickly had his golems start moving again, one of the Wendigos was quick to go after the one that Kea had harmed and with a stomp of its clawed feet it crushed the head of the vegetable beast, the other two were quick to rush in as well and as two more carrot beasts emerged and aimed low to try and take out the wendigos they were able to react far more quickly under Sols orders, one would go low with its claws outstretched and proceeded to bisect the one carrot while the other would suddenly bring its tail down hard splitting the beast into two pieces and the trauma was more then enough to make the beast keel over from injuries.”three down three to go” Sol Muttered as he saw that the other three were hiding and he got an idea, he sent a command to his scorn seekers and they started to slam their club like limbs into the ground below them the force was enough from the three of them that it started to make the earth shake.
Sure enough the carrot monsters didnt like that and quickly emerged to rush at the beasts. The first Scorn seeker was quick to bulldoze the carrot splattering it into the ground with little effort while the second would catch the head of the beast in its mouth before its jagged fangs would pierce and crush the worms head like it was nothing. The last carrot managed to wrap around the golem but Sol was ready, he rushed forward before he would grab the beast with his hands causing the curse to affect the last monster, it shrieked in pain as the curse ate at it as well as bound it before it dropped dead, at that Sol took a breath before with a mental command the golems and his markings would vanish.”whew that seems to be the lot of them now lets go let the farmers know then get back to base lunch and a drink sounds good right now” he said with a small smirk.

Having the proverbial beehive whacked off him was nice, very nice. It made Sols golems suddenly feel less terrifying looking for some reason. “I think I just had a taste of fear for a moment, thank you Sol. I'll try being smarter next time.” He had learned that being fast didn't solve the danger that came with poking the danger when you had to stop running. It wasn't a smart idea to poke them in person, maybe tossing a spell at that direction would have been smarter? But he liked being positive. They were still inexperienced, so this was good for learning. Still, he was a bit pale through smiling. It was a mix of fear from what could have happened and excitement from learning. 'Next time I'll try to not purposely do anything to piss the enemy off unless I want them to be.' There was still an excitement that ran through the blood, despite the fear that had come and gone. What Vermillion doesn't enjoy a fight, or a challenge. “...Master would always say a smart person can easily defeat a foe that is foolish, so I'll try working on getting smarter with my fighting tactics. Will you help me learn? After the nice people are told and we have a break and some food I mean. The green mantis base is amazing! I get to see new plants, animals, and foods all the time.” Keas smile was quite deep, which wasn't an unusual thing for him.
The boys eyes looked towards the pieces of carrot monster with the sparkle of wonder that was far too common for this person. Their thoughts were likely clear as day, even without hearing the thoughts rolling around in their head.. 'Actually I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want me eating the carrot monster either... but asking can't hurt? But it doesn't seem to even be an option.' It wasn't an option now, but maybe if there's a next time? The red head was on his feet again, brushing himself off, feeling and looking rather excited. “Sol, I know you don't want me trying to eat the carrot or tomato monsters remains, but if we ever fight anything like this again than can I try those tomato and carrot monsters? I bet they could be used for soup.” Was he thinking about improving how to fight, or eating the plant monsters? A bit of both likely. In any case, they started moving a bit more until he was close enough to poke Sol a bit with one of his shoulders. “Hey hey hey, you were really awesome. I'll try getting more done next mission, okay? If we do one together again I don't want to make you basically do everything again.” For a person from a family often compared to lions, his personality seemed much like a different sort of pack type predatory animal.
Kea Vermillion was like a young curious and excited shark trying to learn everything and anything. They had the curiosity and apatite to match as well, much like that sea creature that was known for biting or eating things out of curiosity. This was also why so much trash ended up found in dead sharks though. It wasn't the smartest animal to be compared to, but there were worst animals to have similarities to. “Do you think they will use the monster remains as compost, or get rid of it and try again? ..What do you think the base will have for lunch?”
