“Secure the perimeter niho~?”
Seren ‘shaded’ her eyes and squinted against the darkness far far far into the distance of just about right past her nose. Contrary to popular culture, nothing seemed to be staring back at her, or if there was, Seren certainly couldn’t tell.
“Where does the perimeter start and where does it end~? Niho~? What even IS secure anyway~? Nihaha~ the darkness of the unknown makes everything very very philosophical~ niho~”
Seren sighed as she hopped off her broom and tested the ground with the heel of one of her prized boots.
“Well~ it doesn’t feel as murky as it looks~ niho~ little strides big progress~ hmmm~”
Rubbing her chin, Seren began to trace a small pace of the area, while being sure to give Artemis and Childish Bomb-ino ample room.
“Nihahaha~ all of you are acting somewhat strange about my presence~ niho~ but that is okay~ because I am wise I know that many of you are young and still in your awkward phase of life~ and it is also true that we have not had the time to form the proper camaraderie through the passing of the ball or other teambuilding exercises~ niho~ but~ Even so~! ~Circumstances have conspired to bring us together as friends~ and friends we must be~ because there is nobody else that can be counted upon~! Nihaha~ So let’s give it all we’ve got niho~! Let’s hear it for The Wandering Blue Mantises~! Niho~ go~ save~ win~!”
Whether anyone heard her rallying speech or not, Seren saw Hans and Genesis form up and head in one direction together which caused her to nod twice like a proud parent seeing them off. Charles in turn went in a different direction or so Seren and Plu assumed.
Nihaha~ everyone seems really deep in their heads right now~ maybe a little too deep~ but that’s better than being careless I suppose~ niho~ the situation seems really bad~ and well~ it’s not like I can just sit around waiting either~
Slapping both her cheeks Seren nodded to herself.
~Well the best I can do is my best niho~ if worry won wars good mamas would’ve achieved world peace now~ I said it myself~ we’re all they’ve got~ so we’ve just gotta try~ niho~
Taking a deep breath, Seren placed one of her broom golems handle downward so it was standing vertically, then, carefully removing the finger that was holding it upright, Seren let her trusty sweepy golem tip gently over.
“So that way it is niho~”
The broom stopped in midair before it hit the ground. It had fallen towards the north, and a separate direction from where Hans, Genesis, and Charles had chosen.
“Ar-Ar~ I don’t really like splitting up but it looks like in this case it is only ~maaaaybe~ a bad idea~ if something happens just make a very powerful smell and I’ll take that as a signal~ niho~ or maybe send me a pie~ blueberry good~ strawberry good-tasting but bad news~ or maybe just yell about 50% louder than you usually do~ niho~ and I will be sure to return~ Unless~ niho~ I am dead or once again captured~ if I am captured~ niho~ probably don’t take the deal this time~ ~~~oooor maybe do take the deal~ if you get another talking bracelet full of clues~ niho~ which I am not at all jealous of~ ah if you have an last minute advice to say to me while I am flying off~ I would also welcome that as well~ niho~”
Seren waved as she prepared to depart.
Seren was often just a little jealous of sensory mages because her life had not allowed her to every really delve deeply into that magical specialization. Time and time again this fact of her history had been to her disadvantage and it had irked her on each and every occurrence. But even so, Seren could hardly blame herself for not having the opportunity to delve into training it when a tragedy seemed to happen roughly every Friday in this kooky kingdom. Just imagine how useful smell mail magic would be right now, Niho, Seren thought, as the faces of numerous magic knights lined up to praise her vast sagacious wisdom in the back of her mind. In times like this, Seren missed home. Even so, she would make do.
Seren uttered as she pulled her three broom golems into a formation that is going to be kind of confusing to explain.
Boarding one broom, Seren rode it into the air about two stories high as she created quite some distance from the mausoleum so as to avoid affecting it with anything she might do. Then, the witch brought her two extra golems and gradually began to adjust their perimeter as they began to orbit around her in two separate rings. The first broom was 50 meters away from her and orbiting clockwise. The second broom was 100 meters away from her and rotating counter clockwise.
“This is going to take some getting used to niho~”
Seren winced as she held her forehead. Essentially, Seren was using her sensory, the brooms' sensory as well as the additional information that her golems could provide to attempt to get her vision back to a very rough normal, or at least, as close as she was possibly able through this leapfrogging, jerry-rigged, method. After taking her time to get used to seeing from so many angles. Seren proceeded north as she began her search for anything and possibly nothing.
*** Combat Summery and Notes: 1) Sustained Apropos: Broom, “Hollow Furnace” maintaining a total of 3 broom golems. Seren is riding one of them. 2) Seren is scouting North. 3) Seren is using her broom golems to try and expand her field of vision beyond the darkness that is affecting her eyes. Plu made a picture.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Valo's was surprised with the arrival of a new person, a rather eccentric and colorful witch. She had a lot to say and a lot to do apparently, Valo was almost overwhelmed with everything going on. He did notice for a moment that this witch had somehow found Momo his lost bird, or better yet his mother's lost bird. "Hey was that Momo??" Valo asked Seren pointing at her and taking a few steps forward. He thought about it for a second, it was a crazy idea but he was going to leave the bird with her for now. "If he's safe in there...somehow. He can stay with you for the time being probably the best thing for him right now...Thanks" Valo said to the witch.
Valo heard Artemis's newfound knowledge about the structure being connected with lines of some sort, and right now the best idea was to establish a perimeter. Valo nodded and did just that keeping a look out for anything that would pop up. He followed behind Genesis and the swordsmen, but keeping a distance using his sensory to scout around the area.

“The lines. They are not connected.” Artemis whispered as she moved around the mausoleum, trying to figure this puzzle that needed to be solved. And yet, she was incapable of solving it on her own at the moment. At least, unable to without the bracelet that the Daemon had bestowed upon her to clamp down on her sensory abilities. She cursed the bracelet and its existence. Cursed at the fact that she had to make the decision between the life of the Citizens of Clover, the children and future of her beloved home, or her own well-being. The deal was something they Daemon knew she could not say no to. Not today. Not yesterday. Nor will she ever say not to it tomorrow. She knew her duty. And the future of the Clover Kingdom was more important than a single life of a Magic Knight.[break][break]
She would shake her head. Dark thoughts lead to misdeeds. She knew that she needed to get herself together. This Daemon was playing the long game. And the chessboard was Kikka, while they were the opposing team. The Daemon took the first move, the white side. They were now reacting to the Daemon, countering its intended strategy at every turn. At least, as best as they can. But that only meant that they were behind. The Daemon had control over the playing field, and all they could do was dance to its tune. [break][break]
For now.[break][break]
“Child,” Artemis would whisper, pressing herself as close to the mausoleum as possible, though not close enough to touch, “did you see or hear anything when you were placed here? Please be as specific as possible so we can try to help.” She urged the child to tell them how this whole structure came to being, and possibly try to recreate a way to dismantle it.[break][break]
Yet, as she asked her question, Artemis found herself watching the child gain a black mark on her body. A shadow mark. It was then that the bracelet fed her another piece of information, and she found herself staring as the bricks lined up, at least, they shifted by a little. The once unconnected lines that littered the whole mausoleum would inch closer to connecting together. And then, there was the child. Artemis placed a hand on her temple as she tried to figure out just what the bracelet had meant. [break][break]
“Three questions...child covered in marks...two layers…” Artemis’ eyes widened, realizing just what this meant. “A double layer trap, and if asked a question, the child will suffer and the lines will inch closer to connect to one another.” She shook her head, “The child. A hostage.” Artemis realized that the child is at-risk, with every question turning her closer and closer into something else. The shadow would cover her whole body. And it seems that the bracelet was saying that they only had three questions left for the child until she would be covered, and turn.[break][break]
“But…” Artemis paused. They could glean information from the child without asking questions. At least, not directly. They could coax the child to talk on her own volition. Yes, that would be the key to this. They just needed more information now. And hopefully, this child would be her own saviour from this madness.[break][break]
“Child, listen to me,” Artemis said softly, “we need you to recount to us everything that you have seen and heard. Every single detail. Don’t leave anything out.” She tried to give the young girl a smile, one she had used with her younger siblings when they had been little, when she had been their older sister who protected them from the mana beasts under their bed. “I promise we will get you out of her. But you need to tell us everything that you saw, heard, smelt, tasted, touched, and even sensed with your budding mana. I promise that when you do, I will do my best to help you. We can even go someplace nice when this is all over.” Artemis gave her an encouraging smile and a nod, hoping that would be enough to coax the young girl to tell her every single detail of her imprisonment. [break][break]
If the young girl answered the question, and recounted the story of her capture and imprisonment, Artemis would turn towards the group, who had all gone into different directions. At least they knew how to follow orders. Artemis knew that at this point, their survival, and the rest of Kikka’s life, rested at the tip of a sword. They needed to tread carefully.[break][break]
“We need to be ready. This is a double layer trap, intricate enough that even I cannot disarm it just yet.” She would shake her head now, “I do not trust the fact that the Daemon would just leave us here to figure this out without some form of resistance.” Artemis then pointed to a gravestone close enough for her to see, within the distance of their current sight. “Stay close enough, within the distance of that gravestone. Be within my sights, and your companions’ as well. If any dangers do arise, we need to be able to strike back and defend this position together. If you wander off alone, and out of our sights, we will not be able to help you.” She warned them all, before turning back to the mausoleum. [break][break]
The puzzle was not yet solved, and Artemis knew that they were on borrowed time. The Daemon was the master of the field, and she knew that they needed to turn that around as soon as possible. But first, they needed to save the young child.
[break][break] NOTE: Information has been given through DMs.[break][break]
Artemis still has Moonsong, The Captain's Map (with the other group, still within range) and War-maiden: Lady Sif. Her base speed is 100m/s. Artemis asked a question, figures out that the trap is unleashed after three more questions, with each giving the child a shadow mark while slowly shifting the bricks to connect the lines. It is a double-layered trap. Artemis tries to coax the child to speak without asking a question, trying to figure out if the child had been able to see, hear, taste, smell, touch, or sensed with their budding mana when she had been taken and subsequently put in this mausoleum. She also told her group to stay within range of sight from one another, especially within her sights, since the Daemon cannot be trusted to not attack them if they wander off too far from the group.
Name of Spell: Moonsong[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation & Physical Reinforcement[break] Range & Speed: 150 meters | 85 m/s | 115 m AOE[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s, Blinds[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph, Quick Shot, Full Blitz, Apex Predator[break] Description: A manifestation of a stronger mana, the bow is made to be the successor in power and speed of Aphrodite. The bow itself is made with water, though its wings are as sharp as a sword's blade. The bow is used in long ranged combat, the wings of the bow, however, can be used as pseudo blades. A manifestation of Artemis' mana, the string only shows when she makes a "pull-back" motion of drawing and aiming. This makes the bow into a pseudo double-bladed short spear when needed for close quarter combat. The bow itself can shoot more than one arrow, following ammo rules. The arrows can either pierce through enemies, or be used as an AOE attack by letting it burst in a shower of sharp dagger like water droplets, causing Grand level damage. At first hit, opponents are blinded by the water that hits their eyes. The blind effect only happens once per opponent. The bow also increases the speed of the user.[break]
Name of Spell: The Captain's Map[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Senior | Sensory[break] Range & Speed: 75m + (Artemis' Sensory x 2)[break] Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break] Stats Effected: -9 Sensory[break] Applicable Perks: Area of Triumph[break] Description: A water made map is created in front of Artemis, which becomes a three dimensional representation of the surrounding keeping in mind the range of the spell. Mana signatures are all located in the three dimensional map, while those hiding their presence using an illusion would follow the Tracking mechanics of Sensory vs Control of the one hiding. While the map itself is a representation of the surroundings, the true nature of the spell are the minuscule droplets of water that appears all around the area of effect. The droplets of water debuffs those caught in the area of effect, lowering their sensory stat, while it bypasses allies through ammo rules.[break][break]
Name of Spell: War-maiden: Lady Sif[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Physical Reinforcement & Transformation[break] Range & Speed: Self | 40 m/s[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +30 m/s[break] Applicable Perks: Full Blitz, Predator's Mutation[break] Description: Calling upon the mythological war-maidens, Artemis conjures water and surrounds her whole body, transforming her into the visage of an mythological warrior. Her whole appearance changes, hair turning into fully blonde, her clothes replaced by warrior-garb made of silk and iron, with the most prominent feature of the transformation being the two feather wings on her back. This transformation allows Artemis flight, and the combination of both Physical Reinforcement to the Transformation allows her to move at a faster speed than normal. Her flight speed is at-rank 40 m/s following Transformation rules. Growing 35 inches in size, Artemis is able to carry at maximum 5 people on her wings and back, though why she would do that, she did not know. The spell allows Artemis to weave in and out of combat, unhindered by ground speed. [break]

Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
As the red-haired woman pulled away from the group, she had not expected to hear some footsteps following her. Though it seemed like her hearing had been cut in half, she had come to recognize the gait of the dark mage. To her, it sounded firm and steady, like a man who knew where he was going and was in control. There were also other pairs of footsteps, but it was too far away for her to recognize with her loss of hearing. The mana signature felt familiar, though, so she would assume it was the Green Mantis knight she had met previously.
She studied the area critically. It was true that the daemon had not touched or hurt them physically, but he was cunning. The mental games he played with them had started when their eyesight had been shrouded, and as things progressed, he had taken out their hearing. She would not be surprised if he continued to toy with him, taking away their senses one by one until they succumbed to their own madness. It was more influential when playing to the mind; its effects are far more dangerous and deadly than any physical wound.
Truly, Gen had to give it to him—he was devious, sharp and crafty. A slight smirk tugged on the edges of her mouth, though it did not completely take over the worried look from before. Perhaps this shadow mage should be learning from some of his tactics. After all, they did share a common ground. His manipulations, his use of illusions, even to his shady character that left his enemies guessing...all is fair play in war.
As far as she could tell, nothing seemed amiss, at least in this section. No apparent traces of mana, no glimpses of approaching enemies. It was unnervingly quiet, save the soft padding of her footsteps. She had also been scanning some of the names on gravestones and their epitaphs, if there were any. A tiny part of her was curious if she would see something that was related to her birth parents, something that would trigger her memory. Something. Anything. No. No way. She quickly brushed it away. She only had a lingering memory from when she was only a babe. That was all. No first name, no surname. Nothing. However, now was not the time to go delving into her unknown history.
The air still smelled musky and all sorts of dreadful, but at least she could still smell. Hmmm would our sense of smell go next? She doubted her taste would be affected, as that would require eating something, and she sure as heck was not going to eat anything that the daemon would offer. As for touch, the monster himself would probably send his minions to hunt them down. After all, why stain his hands with their blood when he could send his underlings to do the dirty work for him? In many ways, he seemed to prefer working behind the scenes, masterminding and conducting the show for his personal enjoyment and pleasure.
Gen bit down on her tongue. She could not get riled up again. A strong and sane mind would be the only way out of this. She turned to walk back, nodding at the dark mage, as if to indicate that she was done searching this section and was heading back. They never did exchange names, did they? She had already walked past him, but now she stopped, a few steps away.
“Name’s Gen.” She said over her shoulder. “The children...it wasn’t your fault.” Then she continued walking back to the group. She was not pitying him, nor attempting to comfort him. She just knew that if they did not move on from their past actions, it would bind them from moving forward. They were learning more about their enemy’s tactics, even if it did come at a hefty price. Small progress would gradually add up over time. Unfortunately, time was not something they had.
The leader of the group was saying something to the child inside the mausoleum, but Gen was not able to catch her words until she was closer. She only caught the latter part where the other was saying that it was an intricate double layer trap, and not wandering too far off. The redhead glanced back at the little girl caught within the prison. She also noticed that the child had another mark on her. The child was forbidden to answer their questions, it seemed.
She turned to address the vice captain. “East is secured.” She reported, then waved a hand at the young prisoner. “Where do you think the source is located? What if we found a way to cut it off?” Unless tempering with the power source would activate something, Gen figured that would be an option. Or perhaps the other female had gleaned some additional information from the child while she was gone?

“Nihaha~ leave it to me~ on my honor as a witch and magic knight I’ll happily protect Momo with my life~ niho~! Hear that Momo~~~? ~You’re safe with me~ Niho~!”
Seren patted her hat where the bird was resting secure in her nest of hair.
“As I am sure you already know~ Niho~ birds are very very clever creatures~ generations of wisdom have been passed from egg to egg~ and they would share with us their wisdom should we take the time to listen~ niho~ she will make for a bonny companion indeed niho~ and because I am wise I am grateful for her company~”
Seren winked.
And so, Seren continued to keep watch, but as for what she saw or didn’t see I cannot tell you for that would be up to another’s discretion. Time passed, as it is wont to do. And, when time does indeed pass, Seren will often try to find ways to pass the time. Thus, she began to sing a witch song. Beautiful and pure and just quiet enough for the often muttering Artemis to not hear.
~We Wayward Witches on the Road~
To be Home~ Our Witches’ Forest with~ all my friends~ Celebrate every night~ And get up and celebrate again~ 'Cause we've all seen~ A demon spin a plan~ And we'd pay good honey~ To see our forest once again~ 'Cause there's a right way~ And there's a wrong way~ Nihooooo~ let's do it our way~ Nihooooo~ let's do it our way~ Find friends, stories, and candy~ And find comfort somewhere there~ I wanna spin a legend~ That’ll make all we forest witches cheer~ And I won't let it happen~ Won't have no~ Despair to shade my time~ If they were just as good as Mama~ They'd have made their schemes work fine~ 'Cause there's a right way~ And there's a wrong way~ Nihoooooo~ let's do it our way~ ~Let's do it our way~ To be home~ Our Witches’ Forest with~ with all my friends~ Celebrate every night~ And get up and celebrate again~ Get up and celebrate again~
A little later, Seren happened to hear Genesis raise a theory on their situation, thinking a bit, Seren then added her own two witch cents with a shout over yonder.
“Niho~ if it’s like that then these may be fuses to one big old zoopy bomb~ if that’s the case~ niho~ some of the lines are sure to be decoys right~? ~I think that’s usually how it works~ niho~ If someone made a starter map of their directions we could follow them and diagram a master map from that~ but that may take a while niho~ even if we split up~~~~”
As a latecomer and a lower ranking magic knight, Seren left it at that. Shortly after she’d resumed her song while covering the northern front; waiting to determine whatever it was that she saw.

There was a lot going on, a lot that needed to be done, but Elliot had nothing they could add to help out right now. All of this needed at least some modicum of skill in sensory and she was at the tail end of sensory ability. With nothing she could really do besides roam a bit, Elliot would instead go to the one that had been teleported in. As she had simply been following Artemis and the group with her as she had spoken about everything it was easy to see now that Seren could be trusted.
Moving to get closer so that they wouldn't have to yell over anyone to speak, the girl posing as a boy would ask a question. "The daemon summoned you here as part of the deal. By chance, do you have any healing magic? I took a hit from a spell someone threw without knowing I was there and I don't want the damage caused then to affect us later." The 'man' would keep her golems spaced out as far as she could without hitting anything they weren't supposed to. It was useful to have them as another set of eyes and ears for what was going on. Hopefully Saren did, indeed, have some kind of healing spell. Elliot did not want to be taken down too easy later on when it came to fighting this daemon because of someone's accidental hit on her.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Before he would fully follow the shadow mage, Hans overheard the witch's little speech which caused him to stop at first, but his back was still against her. The merc still didn't exactly trust her, part of is being that she was brought in by that daemon, but also because he had trouble with a witch in the past who attempted to seduce him for her own gains. This one was...more of an oddball though. Her commentary did make the stoic dark mage nearly laugh however, but he stopped himself resulting as a quick exhale out his nose. With everything that's happening right now, deep down, Hans was thankful for this comic relief.
Catching up with the shadow mage unfortunately brought the dark mage back down to reality. He still couldn't get over what he did to those two children. The man was staring at a gravestone, thinking back on that moment just as the redhead spoke to him. "Hm?" He looked in her direction, a bit puzzled at first before realizing that she was introducing herself. Right, he never did learn her name, nor has she learned his.
"Ah...It's Hans." he said almost absentmindedly before looking back at the gravestone. The woman then tried to comfort him, or at least that's how he saw it. Hans let out a soft sigh. "Right..." is all he'd say. He still believes that he's at fault. Sure the daemon was the one that fooled him, but if Hans wasn't so careless at the time...or if he was more proficient in his sensory, then those kids wouldn't be clinging onto life right now.
With the scouting finished, Hans went back to the others with Gen. She started to raise up a suggestion at the water mage with the witch also adding to it. But what did the dark mage do? He just stood there, doing nothing. The man started to realize that so far, he hasn't contributed in any good way. If it wasn't for him, the blonde would probably sill be at full strength. The merc just wanted to knock down the door of wherever the daemon is hiding behind and take him down. The dark mage felt angry, something he rarely feels these days...and useless.

Charles kept watching around the area. The Daemon mentioned having a servant and the fact that they haven't spotted one of them bothered him. That meant he had the advantage of attacking the group by surprise. He knew they were playing into the Daemon's game. After all, this is what he wanted and expected. He made sure to maintain a decent distance with the group just so he can still see them and they can still see him. Their vision was reduced so the enemy could take advantage of that if he isn't careful enough. Everything has been surprisingly peaceful, but this was just the calm before the storm. The Daemon will make his move anytime soon and now that they found the child it was likely the next was going to start at any moment. [break][break] A lot of things have happened and it was hard for him to get his thought off what just happened. For the looks of it, Artemis managed to have those children treated in the hospital. This lead to the question that maybe the Blue Rose Magic Knight was in the hospital or something. About Artemis's strange bracelet, it seemed like the Daemon gave it to her as she didn't have it before their deal. Maybe it did something to her he wasn't fully aware of. That was clear after all the enemy will not simply give her a bracelet to give her an advantage, but to weaken her. For the first time in his life, he felt different emotions, especially towards that Daemon. Something he wanted to make sure is that the Daemon dies, he heard on how evil and despicable the Daemons were and all of those things were true. He couldn't allow his emotions to get the best of him, after all, that's what the enemy wanted and he wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of such a thing. The silver mage was responsible for injuring those children, but the Daemon used them. They have been playing his game the entire time and that hasn't changed. Will they be able to turn this game around and gain the upper hand against the Daemon? [break][break] Sometime later Charles went back to the rest after finding out the area was clear, for now. As he made his way back he heard Genesis bring up what will happen if they found the source and cut it off. It sounded like a good idea that could be effective, but after what happened sometimes ideas filled the black bull with self-doubt on what the next move should be. Seren replied to her statement and mentioned how it was possible some of them could be decoys. The silver mage walked up to the rest of the group having previously heard their conversation. "...Well, if there's decoys then there's a possibility one of those sources could be rigged to explode, I don't know." He added up, though not sounding entirely sure, but still pointing out the possibility that those decoys could also rig the trap to be triggered and kill the child if they weren't careful enough. The Daemon was treating this as a game so if he added decoys to make the group look for the right source while the time to save the child was going down. It will make things exciting for the Daemon, he viewed this as a game after all. [break][break]
Just as Artemis turned back towards the child, the little girl would start stuttering, trying to find her words as she strung along a barely coherent story.[break][break]
“I...was with mommy and daddy...helping...festival...and then black...dark...we ran to church...pray...a man’s voice...control over town...breaks toys easily...and... I'm sorry...I...I can't remember…”[break][break]
The child was sobbing now, either because of the stress of recounting the tale, or the fact that she was still trapped within this mausoleum made of shadow. It was an accursed thing, and all Artemis wanted to do was to destroy it through sheer force. Yet, she would restrain herself from doing so. There were just too many variables that were unaccounted for in this situation. The moment they do something wrong, it could not only mean the end of the child’s life, but also the fact that it would most likely blow up in their faces as well. While Artemis could possibly outfly the trap’s activation, the rest of her group would not be able to do so. No, she needed to handle this as gingerly as possible. It was good that she was the one to have been here, instead of the other Captains and Vice Captains. By reputation, she knew some of them to be very headstrong and more combat-oriented in terms of decision making. Artemis handled situations with more finesse, which suited her illusory style of combat well.[break][break]
It was then that she heard chattering. A question. No. Two questions were asked within the vicinity. She saw the child shriek in agony, as two more spots of black appeared on her skin. Three in total, only one left before a trap activated and they lose the child, possibly forever. And then one more question was asked.[break][break]
Artemis could only stare in horror as the child was now fully marked with shadow. The mausoleum itself glowed bright as all of the lines were now interconnected. The trap had been sprung, yet the child herself did not seem to have been affected just yet. It was possible that the first layer had been triggered, but the layer on the child was not yet fully complete. It was then that she noticed something around her. Lights. No, orbs. She would look up to find their surroundings filled with colourful flames and orbs. They would be mesmerizing, save for the fact that she assumed that this was the Daemon’s doing. Another distraction, perhaps? Possibly a manifestation of the latent mana around the place. There was also the wailing. Illusion? A definite possibility, yet something she could not trust herself in checking now that her sensory ability has been dampened.[break][break]
The Green Mantis Vice Captain was already whipping around, trying to get everyone to quiet down as the events took place when she heard another voice talking in the distance. It sounded like the start of a question, and Artemis knew that it could not be uttered. It could turn the situation from bad to worse. On sheer gut instinct, Artemis flew forward with her immense speed, bow in hand ready to knock the person out. With her speed, she could make it there and stop whatever question was about to be uttered faster than giving out a warning. She reached the person, a citizen who had volunteered their services, and immediately used her Moonsong bow’s flat surface to knock them out. With her speed, the young man would not be able to do anything. Unless he can react within milliseconds.[break][break]
Yet, it was to no avail. The young man would fall limp in her hands just after they uttered their question.[break][break]
The whole graveyard would now shake. The double layered traps had been activated simultaneously, not only creating a sort of vacuum where the orbs and flames would be slowly drawn towards the now golem-like structure that had encased the child, instead of just being a mausoleum. The child now looked like it was cradled within the shadow golem as the orbs and flame-licks were slowly making their way towards it.[break][break]
Artemis would hurry back towards the shadow golem that encased the young girl with the knocked out citizen hanging from her left arm, only to find her still conscious. She breathed a sigh of relief at that.[break][break] “Don’t...touch...the orbs or flames...please…don't let them touch my tomb...”[break][break]
The little girl would weakly say in a barely hushed voice. Artemis would nod at the young girl, hoping she could provide more information soon, before turning to the group. “The little girl says to not touch the orbs or flames! All of you, stand guard. Whatever this Daemon is trying to do, it will not be successful. Do not be fooled by its games, it is deadly enough to wipe this whole town if it wanted to. Be vigilant, and don’t do anything that can cost you your life. You will not like the consequences, if you survive, that is.” She warned. What was veiled in that last two sentences was the fact that if even one of them stepped out of line and endangered the group, Artemis herself would knock them out herself. “And no more questions.”[break][break]
A deep breath.[break][break]
In.[break][break]
Out.[break][break]
She would then let the knocked out citizen fall to the ground beside her. Artemis’ disdain could be felt a mile away, yet she made no other comment. Anger. Adrenaline. Rage beyond anything she had felt. They all meshed together as she now stared at the consequences of their actions. If only she had been faster… Artemis tried to calm herself using the meditation techniques she had used once before while training for Ki. It would slow her blood pressure, thus slowing down the possibility of adrenaline going through her system. She did not need to be in that zone just yet. Adrenaline only made her more vicious, and act in more uncaring and brash ways. [break][break]
“Child,” Artemis leaned in as close as she could without touching the now-shadow golem once mausoleum. “Try your best. Tell us more of what you know. Anything and everything that can help us get you out of this place, hm. You should tell me your name as well, and we can find your parents after this is all done. I am sure they are worried sick looking for you. No grave for you, only the comfort of your parent's warm embrace, I promise.” She would hum softly, just like how she did when trying to calm her siblings during a particularly stormy night. Hapshass was a sea-coast city, and oftentimes experienced harsh storms. “We will make sure you will be okay, just take a deep breath and be brave. I know you can do it, child.”[break][break]
Artemis would then gesture to both Valo, Seren and Charles. A sign that they needed to get into position and be ready for anything. As Magic Knights, they should know that this situation had turned from bad to worse. [break][break]
At this point, Artemis was sure that one last question and they would lose the child. That cannot happen. [break][break]
Then, an idea.[break][break]
Artemis traced her fingers over the bracelet. It was speaking to her once more. Telling her of things that she would not have known. So far, it has been useful. After all, it correctly told Artemis the details of the trap and how it would activate. Both of which were true. Though, they at least had been lucky enough that the trap activating did not mean the child’s death. Instead, it would mean that the trap was now successfully armed. [break][break] “Quickly, use your spells to stop those orbs and flames from reaching the child!” Artemis would bark out.[break][break]
In.[break][break]
Out.[break][break]
She would then kneel before the large structure that now carried the child within it. “There is still time to disarm these traps. We just need to make sure that those orbs and flames do not reach their destination. Do not touch them with your skin, only spells.” Artemis then paused, before continuing slowly now, “Do not let anything touch the mausoleum either. Not even your spells. And, no questions.” [break][break]
The bracelet was feeding her more information now. She needed to figure out just how these intricate blocks of shadow, as well as the lines and the markings on the child worked together. She hovered her hand over the mausoleum itself, letting her mana disperse as she tried to use her natural sensory to see if she could figure it out. [break][break]
She only hoped she could do it in time. [break][break]
[break][break] NOTE: Information has been given through DMs.[break][break]
Artemis still has Moonsong, The Captain's Map (with the other group, still within range) and War-maiden: Lady Sif. Her base speed is 100m/s. You all know what happened. Elliot was knocked out with Grand damage and is beside Artemis.
[break]

She messed up.
Big time.
The little girl’s screams cut through her nerves like an electric shock, and every muscle in Gen's body tensed and stiffened. She felt something akin to guilt, and she was not used to that feeling. A cold facade had fallen over the young woman’s face. Who had just given a word to the dark mage about the children? Her own words would be hurled back at her, taunting her to acknowledge the true depth and meaning of them. She herself had made a wrong move, and someone else was paying for it.
An innocent child.
Normally, the redhead was a silent and serious one, not speaking unless spoken to. However, her current circumstance had spurred her to ask a question—no, two—and it had dire consequences. She did not know that any questions within earshot of the child would be so deadly, and would mark the little girl with its cursed effects. Though she was not the last one to trigger the traps, she nonetheless had contributed to it. Even the speedy vice captain had not been able to stop the last question in time, though she seemingly knocked the citizen out. She had come back to the tomb with the unconscious body, but the first layer of traps had been activated.
Without another word, the young woman ran off a little distance from the mausoleum, heart pounding and blood rushing. She was still within sight of the group, but everyone would be looking at the glowing orbs that had appeared around them. There also seemed to be wailing sounds that were coming from all directions, though she could not be sure. Were they an additional effect from the traps? The sound was most likely an illusion, as it sounded too otherworldly to be real.
However, the fire orbs looked real enough, real enough to deal serious damage to the junior mage. Gen had squatted down to the ground as one started moving towards her. Though it was still a few meters out, she could even feel the heat from the approaching flames. Then she heard the command to not let them near the tomb. Whatever the reason why, she would follow orders. There was no time to feel guilty. She needed to act now.
Repousser. Immediately she grabbed onto the moving orb’s shadow, aiming to knock it back with its own shadow. It is her little specialty, using her target's own shadows against them. She did not know if the spell’s contact with the orbs would explode or not at the knock-back, but at least she did something. Would it explode? She had acted out of instinct. Had she messed up again?
She could only hold her breath and await to see what would happen.
Notes & Stuff
Summary: Felt guilty about asking questions, ran off about 20m from group (towards Seren's northern area), attempted to use her knock-back spell on an approaching orb

For every 10 Power she has, this AoE spell may knock the targets back by an additional 5 meters. Following ammo rules, for every 10 Control she has, she may knock the enemies back another time, as long as the spell is sustained.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Suddenly, a scream broke Hans out of his train of angry, self loathing thoughts. He looked over to the little girl in horror as she let out those pained screams, just now noticing the odd black marks! Now mysterious orbs, or flames had started to manifest around the area. What was happening!? Has the Daemon start up with another attack?
Before he could even blink, Hans witnessed the female mantis knight rush over to the ash mage and knocked him clean out. The dark mage was completely confused and not sure what to think? Has the blonde been manipulated and turned on the group? It wasn't out of the realm of possibility since she had that bracelet.
"Hey! What are yo-" Before Hans could even finish, the graveyard started to shake! Hans looked around as he gritted his teeth. Sword was drawn at the ready and so was his grimoire. The darkness, the limited hearing, Hans hated having to take on an opponent with this much power, he hated all of this. This was definitely some sort of attack, it just has to be!
Not being as close to the child as the water mage was, Hans could not hear her pleas to not let any of these orbs touch her tomb. Fortunately, the vice captain was loud enough for the merc to hear. The dark mage was planning on not touching these things anyway, unsure of what would happen.
Soon, the blonde would command the others to keep these orbs away from the child through the use of spells. She also not to ask questions. Did questions have anything to do with this, or was the woman just speaking in some authoritative tone? All of this conveniently happened when questions were asked. Not wanting to take any risks, the merc made a mental note of not asking anything. With an understanding nod, Hans turned around and rose his sword at one of the incoming orbs, the silver blade getting coated in dark magic. But before he could do an actual spell, the merc paused. What if these are some sort of illusion again? What if they are more children!?
The guy hesitated and lowered his sword. He couldn't bring himself to strike at these things...but maybe he didn't have to.
With his grimoire flipping to another page, Hans stuck his arm out, and a black orb started to manifest in front of his palm. "Black Hole." It soon grew into a black hole which Hans was attempting to use to absorb the orb that was heading his way. He then let the black hole float there as he summoned a second one to his right, summoning it in front of another orb that was further away, about as far as he could see. If these are illusions, his spell should be able to absorb it, and reveal what was underneath...or at least that's what he assumes since he has never tried absorbing illusions before.
There was also the factor of not knowing how his dark element will interact with these demonic forms of magic...

Charles maintained the distance as the others kept asked questions near the vicinity where he could still hear them, but this didn't seem good like a good thing. If they asked a question the child will get a black marking on her body. Suddenly the peace will be interrupted by the screams of the child coming all the way from the tomb. The ground below him began to shake. This could only mean one thing, the trap was triggered. In the blink of an eye, the Black Bull saw how the Vice-Captain moved at a high speed and knocked out Elliot. Her speed was impressive, but she wasn't fast enough to stop Elliot from asking the question. [break][break] The ground below him began to shake it seemed like the trap was triggered, was it because too many questions were asked? Charles's grimoire rose alight and floated beside him. Ready for any possible combat, he didn't know what will happen. A moment after several orbs and fire began appeared around him and the rest of the group. As the occurred Artemis ordered him and the rest of the group to stop those orbs and fire from reaching the tomb. Their main objective seemed to be the tomb, but if he didn't know what will happen if he attacks one of those orbs with his spells. This could be another hit from the Daemon, but he didn't have enough time to think about it. Right now he had to avoid those orbs from reaching the child, the best way of doing so was his spells. "Silver Wave." He said as he placed his hand on the ground creating a spike out of silver towards the direction of one of the orbs. "Silver Spike." The silver mage now stomped the ground and created several spikes that moved towards another of the orbs in an attempt to prevent them from reaching the tomb. He didn't how they were going to react, but the possibility of them exploding was likely. Hopefully, he makes it out and his efforts are worth something. [break][break]

A mode of transport as well as a last line of defense in emergencies.[break][break]
Striking or ramming with this golem will attempt a knock-back effect of 4 (+ 5 for every 10 power) meters the golem possesses.[break][break]
Seren may create 1 additional golem for every 30 control she possesses. These additional golems will typically follow the original like train cars but may serve additional functions as needed.[break][break]
As an Ethereal Spell, each target affected will lose 5 mana which will be granted to the caster. Each target may only be affected by this spell's drain once per round. (In the case of this spell, this effect is optional)[break][break]

This can be thwarted by spells whose power or durability stat (depending on the spell in its path) is +5 than the user of this magic’s power stat. These spells cannot bypass structures or creations that are of higher rank than the spell itself.[break][break]

Artemis said to be ready for anything, but it felt a lot more like everything happened instead. Screams, Darkness (wait that was there before), Childscreams and Gollifciation, and orbs as well, oh so many orbs. It was as though the party had been spatially launched into a blackmetal album.
Time seemed to slow to a crawl as her training flashed before her eyes. Numerous scenes of trial and failure. Numerous scenes of accrued wisdom. The makings of a self-proclaimed sage.
----In the wilds of human civilization where she survived on scraps like a wild dog, calloused eyes wandering past the leaking lights from warm hearths sheltered by tightly shut doors.
----The magic knight exams where she was tested time and time again for the answers from a class she never took.
----Yuletime where she was left to wonder if she had even made a dent upon the problems in the lives of those stuck on the streets she had escaped from.
----Of those lost to the sand on a frontier rescue mission too understaffed and already far too late.
----How many years had she endured~? For just how long would this continue~?
Seren heard a voice as her vision swung to ground zero. In the corner of her eye was a witch in white. A final scene played in her mind.
----A field of white flowers, that same witch, words she could only barely hear above a billowing wind painting the sky with petals. Laying upon her back, she gazes at the sky.
IN THE END, YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE WHETHER YOU’RE GOING TO LIVE AS A WITCH, OR JUST ANOTHER WOMAN WITH A HAT. THE WORLD IS GOING TO ASK YOU THIS QUESTION EVERYDAY, EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR… ARE YOU A WITCH, SEREN…?
KOBAYASHI SUN SUN.
We give thanks to The Sun.
KOBAYASHI MOON MOON.
We give thanks to The Moon.
THIS IS THE WAY.
This is the way.
Seren raises her arm. A spell fires and parts the wind. Petals fall. Silence…
----This last scene had never happened, but it hyped Seren up nonetheless. Taking a deep breath, Seren swerved on her broom as she poured all her mana into rejoining the others. Seeing this, the conjured white witch in the corner of her vision nodded. This witch was, of course, herself.
You feel yourself giving into anger~ don’t you niho~?
Seren only prayed that she would regroup in time.
Remember what I have told you~ fighting hatred with hatred has no advantage on the battlefield~ Seren you will never be complete unless you fight hatred with duty~ niho~ therein lies the the path~ to many things~ Hatred~ niho~ produces nothing but more hatred~ a cycle of conflict~ niho~ from which none may ever escape~
The witch’s gaze sharpened as she reached the designated combat zone. Her eyes were wild. Her mind was clear. She did not hesitate to act as a steely cocksure pout played across her features.
“Ethercannon Magic~ No questions style~! Fairy Tender~!”
From her aerial vantage, Seren was able to aim for her healing targets of Hans, Charles, Elliot, and Genesis while avoiding the trajectory of the orbs. Spirals of Ethereal runes issued forth from her grimoire to envelope each of them and immediately began healing intermediate damage. If for whatever reason Seren thought that her aim might hit either the mausoleum or or an orb next to her allies, she would instead hold her fire. Plu was pretty sure Seren’s aim should be fine though.
The witch did this as she arrived at her destination and lept from her broom towards the ground. With a flick of her wrist, the brooms continued onward until they landed in front of Hans forming a fence of golems between him and the orbs to give the black hole boy some cover.
“That’s some fine thinking fluffy sleeves~! I’m counting on you to hold the last line~! If it gets to be too much though~ just say something and I’ll do my best to relieve you~! Heroes get zeroes here~ Niho~! Because we need every hand we can get~!”
Seren took a deep breath.
“Everyone take cover niho~! Behind a grave or something niho~! I’m sure they will understand~! Protect yourselves and shout if you’re dead~! The orbs like to explode~! So try to stick to ranged tactics~! It’s death or die time niho~! Let’s Nih~gooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~!”
Sweating pooling on her brow Seren shouted one last thing over her shoulder.
“Ar-Ar~ if things get any worse just try and rip her out of there and run~ careful pokey pokey isn’t working and we may soon be out of time and other options~ niho~ I know this because I have eyes~”
All in all, today (or was it tonight?) was shaping up to be a long day-night.
*** Combat Summery and Notes: 1) Cast Fairy Tender on Hans, Charles, Elliot, and Genesis healing them for Int Health. 2) Seren is now between the approaching orbs and the mausoleum. Backline compared to the others. 3) Seren placed her broom golems as a fence barrier between Hans and the orbs.
Artemis paused as she took another look at the child.
[break][break] No response.
[break][break] It worried the Green Mantis Vice Captain. Not only was the child in harm’s way, but she was also possibly the only one who knew what the Daemon had planned. The little girl was here for a reason, after all. She might have heard something important. Seen something that she should not have seen. Artemis knew that they needed to save her, no matter how hard it seemed like. How impossible it all felt like. There must be a way. It would not be a dead end. [break][break]
Artemis found herself looking back. The group had formed up and started their own assault at the orbs and floating fires. The bracelet had been unresponsive now, but the child at least had been able to give them a fair warning. If she knew about this fact, then she must know other things about this trap, or even what the Daemons are planning. [break][break]
It was then that she heard an explosion. Scratch that, explosions in a plural sense. Artemis would ignore it for the moment in favour of not only using her Sensory magic now, but also her Ki senses. She expanded her search, trying to find any intricacies within the mausoleum itself. Careful not to poke and prod, but instead inspecting the mana that flowed in and around the area. She would find no clue, and would curse herself internally. [break][break]
“Child, stay awake. Stay focused. We need you to stay with us. We will get you out of here, I swear it.” She whispered to the barely conscious young child as she was still trapped within a golem type spell within the mausoleum itself. Artemis would trace the air, just inches away from the mausoleum. The bracelet was not giving her information now when she needed it to the most, and it irked her. [break][break]
However, she remained stoic. While an internal storm was raging within Artemis, she projected an aura of poise and self-assurance. There was no doubt on her face, only determination. Nobody can know of a leader’s fears and doubts, it hurt morale when it needed to be preserved now more than ever. [break][break]
Then, a healing spell. [break][break]
It seems that their new companion was a healing mage, a worthy exchange indeed as it now proved useful. The healing magic would work on the boy beside her, and should wake him up from his slumber. Artemis assumed it would work with the others as well, especially since they seemed to be fighting explosives of some kind. She could sense the mana build-up between her companions, and knew that they were in for a fight. [break][break]
The Blue Rose Magic Knight would tell her to just grab the child if nothing else can be done. Nothing else can be done, indeed. Artemis would not deign to comment, instead turning her attention back towards the group. [break][break]
“Every problem has a solution.” She started, “If anything touches this mausoleum, everyone is likely to die. No matter my speed, I will not only be endangering myself, but also the whole team, and possibly the surrounding buildings.” [break][break]
Artemis was about to continue, when she spotted something. The orbs and fire were starting to merge together. Anger. Misery. Pain. These were the emotions that Artemis could feel around the area. It was as though it was being broadcasted, possibly a manifestation of some sort. Illusion? Artemis could not properly figure it out. There was a silence. Eerie. And then a convergence of mana as the figures emerged from the once orb and fire-licks. [break][break]
“Daemon...” She would whisper, before turning back to the group. “Hold it off! We need to keep buying time. Take it away from here if you have to. There is a solution here. Somewhere...we just need time…” Artemis trailed off. Focusing back on the mausoleum, she would urge the bracelet to give her the information now. They needed it sorely. If not for their survival, then at least for the little girl’s safety. A Daemon appearing had not been one of the possibilities Artemis had thought of, yet it was here. The urge to turn back and fight against it had been strong, yet she pulled herself back. She knew that if she stopped now, she would need to start all over again. [break][break]
“We will get you out of there, I promise.” She whispered towards the young child, wracking her brain as she tried to solve this intricate puzzle of traps woven together. “There is a way out. It’s somewhere here…” [break][break]
The lines were the key. There were lines everywhere. Every single inch of the mausoleum would be riddled with it. Artemis followed the lines, trying to map them all out into a pattern. She found none. Yet, they all fed away from the mausoleum, and in turn snaked around the grounds. She had known as much. Shifting to glance towards one of the gravestones, she found one of the dark purple lines feeding towards it. It piqued her interest. She would turn back now, wondering where the other lines would lead towards. If the lines led to gravestones, then that itself was a clue that might be important to unwrap this double layered trap. [break][break]
It was all coming together. At least, Artemis hoped it was. Not only for the sake of the child, but also for the sake of the group, who were now facing a Daemon. Though not as strong as Nebuchadnezzar, Artemis knew that this one would still give them trouble. No. She must solve this as quick as possible, and then help the group banish the abomination as soon as possible. [break][break]
Artemis still has Moonsong, The Captain's Map (with the other group, still within range) and War-maiden: Lady Sif. Her base speed is 100m/s. Daemon has showed up, at least a servant? Good luck.
[break]

The question Elliot would go unanswered. Not because the person she had been asking had ignored her or anything, but because she had been interrupted before receiving an answer by a sudden attack from out of no where. Surprised, angry, but unable to dodge in time due to not seeing her before it was too late, Elliot Woodcock could do nothing but take the hit and be rendered unconscious. All would be darkness, pure darkness, for what seemed like no time and all of the time wrapped into one. It wasn't until the healing spell from Seren did it's work that Elliot's eyes would reopen again and try to take in what was going on.
When last she was aware they were tying to figure out the information from the cursed child. Now there was a being of some kind that the one that had attacked her was yelling for everyone to hold off. Shaking her head and slowly getting to her feet, Elliot remained unsure on what to do next. Could they trust what they were seeing? The last time they had tried to hold something off some people had nearly killed some children. What if this was something similar? Even worse, what if the cursed accessory given to Artemis was also affecting her more than they all realized? Should they even trust anything she asked of them? Sure, the information could be correct. But what would happen when it lied to her? What if it said we had to sacrifice more people in the place to stop the trap? Would they all listen to it then? Stuck on what to do, and no way to stop anything that was going on as of yet, Elliot would simply stand up and prepare for whatever was about to happen next. Golems gone, for now at least, all she could do was fight with her sword; and that was currently not a safe thing to do.
