Hania would still be sat at the same place his knees up against his chest and his head laying upon them as he tried to work through the constant flashes. He wanted them to know why he got them, where they came from but most of all he wanted them to stop because he was pretty sure it would affect him sooner or later and that wouldn't do for him or his family. He knew he was at this ball until its conclusion, it wasn't something he could avoid and if he attempted to he knew the scolding he would get from it would be the least of his concerns, still, he didn't want anyone to see him in his current condition it would be unseemly given his family name so that was why he had left the grand hall and moved to where he was now. He knew how it would look to Lydia and hoped his sister would let him explain that he wasn't feeling too well so needed some air, it wasn't completely a lie but then it wasn't exactly a complete truth either but it was something he had done over the years when these daymares or whatever they were affected him. For not the cool air and the quiet were aiding him in balancing his train of thought once more but he wasn't quite ready to leave the makeshift sanctuary he had at current, times like this he wished he was in his library. It was bright, filled with things that brought him comfort and made him feel safe most of all.
He was to distracted to even notice his sisters mana signature as it got closer, it wasn't until he heard her voice he opened his eyes revealing the strikingly ice blue orbs that lay underneath. He seen that she was holding out a glass of wine, he wasn't one for drinking and she knew it as he had never taken a sip of the stuff even on celebrations but still nowhere she was holding a glass of the stuff out. "Lyd, I don't drink alcohol you know this." he said bringing his head off his knees not moving to take the glass, she had a point though one of the reasons he gave for not drinking was that it would dull his mind and he never wanted to be in such a predicament but given the situation and location if he was seen as he was it would go down the noble grapevine like wildfire no doubt. With a sigh, he took the glass hesitantly and took a few sips his face scrunching up "How can anyone drink this vile stuff?" he asked sounding like he was ready to gag, he held out the glass that still had most of the contents but could feel his sister's eyes boring holes into him and knew he was expected to drink everything that he had just been given. "I really don't want anymore Lydia." he said honestly but it was clear just by her look he wasn't getting away with it. 'We all sacrifice for the family and kingdom.' he thought to himself before putting the glass to his lips once more and drinking its contents without taking a breath till everything was gone.
He felt so sick from what he had just done and wanted a cup of tea more than ever but she was right it had dulled his mind but mostly because he was concentrating in not wanting to throw up. "I saw the palace corridors going towards the archives Lydia." he said his voice low but his eyes were sharp and held no hint of deceit in them "I think I am just tired and overwhelmed to see such a thing." he knew fine well he wasn't tired or overwhelmed he was used to such glimpses but he refused to believe it was in the here and now, besides he had never seen the corridors going towards the archives so he had no idea why he had said such a thing with assurance as if that was indeed what had been bothering him. Taking a deep breath he stood up quickly his hand going to his head as he felt dizzy. "I never want to drink alcohol again Lyd so I'm asking that you never ask me to do so." his voice was low and cold, it was clear he wasn't happy on what he had done regardless of the reason "We can look into other avenues in the future if my 'headaches' become an issue but I will refuse to drink alcohol again regardless of punishment from you or anyone else." his tone showed he had placed a line in the sand and it was one he would refuse to cross no matter what.
He allowed himself to be escorted by his sister through the ballroom and towards the two pairs and allowed his sister to introduce them to him. His left hand went to his chest while his right hand was slightly away from his body palm facing towards them as he bowed forward just slightly. Hans and Valo would know of only one other person who had ever bowed in such a way, they would have seen it when they came across the daemon Ito. "I am Hania Ravencrest, it is a pleasure to meet you all this evening and I hope you are all enjoying the festivities." he said calmly and respectfully before he stood up straight looking to everyone a smile on his face. He didn't want to impede in what they were doing if they were enjoying himself however it would seem like his sister was happy to do so as she started to talk to the Blue Rose captain. He would have said something but it wasn't his place at the end of the day, he knew if Alyssa didn't want to talk at that precise moment then she would tell Lydia herself and make arrangements to talk afterwards.
If anything, the night had been full of surprises. So far, they have been pleasant ones—experiencing her first Cloverian festival, beating a vendor in his own game, receiving the prize flowers from Hans, meeting up with Charles, eating good food, dancing, and now seeing Valo. Truth be told, it had happened such a long time ago. If the fire mage had not left an impression on her like how he did, she would not have remembered him even if she sensed that his mana signature was familiar.
"Wait. Do you..."
Suna tilted her head, blinking in confusion. It also seemed like the dark mage had picked up on her connection with the Green Mantis knight. Yes, she knew him from before. Why then did he sound so...perturbed? And that particular look in his eyes. She could not tell whether he was shocked, pleased, or irritated. Or perhaps it was none of those. She watched him open his mouth like he wanted to say something, but he ended up not saying anything. Even with his mask on, the elf could see that the mercenary was conflicted. What was up with him?
But once they started dancing and getting back to the rhythm, Suna relaxed a little bit. Perhaps she was just overthinking things. Her man was starting to get into the flow of it, not needing to count the steps anymore. He was even able to answer her question about how he came to know of the fire mage. So it was Kikka then, with Charles and the rest of them. It also explained why he trained at the Green Mantis base, as Valo was a Magic Knight there. Was Hans thinking of joining a squad? He was certainly strong enough, and she was sure any group would want him.
"How do you two know each other?"
He looked so...tense.
"I..I mean...How did you two...meet?"
"We met in Sosshi," Suna said slowly, carefully watching her partner’s eyes for any changes in expression. Even his tone sounded stiff, and he looked extremely disturbed. "I was travelling with a tomato vendor, who was bringing his wares to town, and Valo happened to be there, too. He helped me fight off some bandits. That’s all." A little shrug, as if to make light of the situation. She did not mention how they parted, with her throwing a tomato at the Green Mantis knight...nor of how the next town she visited was—surprise—Kikka.
Ah, Kikka. So many things have happened there, as well as the capital and Raque, yet here they were, dancing the night away. Though only temporary, this festive distraction would do well in boosting the peoples’ morale. As the dance progressed, she still kept an eye out for the other couple, intent on properly meeting them after the current piece was over. Speaking of which, the music came to a grand flourish, and all around them, couples bowed to each other.
"My thanks for the dance, kind sir." Suna dipped into a graceful curtsy, a smile on her lips. It was also now that she heard a powerful—and familiar—voice being broadcasted through the royal hall. (Ardere✧) All around her, people stopped to listen to the Crimson Lion captain, and clapped and cheered at the end of his inspirational speech. She clapped along with the rest of them. A joyful night, indeed.
Then, assuming that her partner would follow her off the dance floor, she would move to the side of the room, to where the other couple had presumably also stepped off to. (Valo Stark✾ and Alyssa Lilygate❃) Just as she did so, a translucent bust appeared next to her, and she jolted a little in surprise as she heard a familiar voice. (Charles Constantine✾)
"Yo Suna. I'm using a communication spell, so only you can hear me. I'm going to head out now. I saw you were with Valo, the guy beside you and Hans. Do me a favor and send him my regards. Anyway, see ya."
"O-Oh!" She looked around. It seemed like only she could hear the Black Bull’s message. "All right. It’s great to see you again, Charles...especially since we did not run into any mana beasts this time!" She laughed and waved at the communication bust, not knowing that it would not translate over through the spell. "Take care!"
Now making her way towards Valo and the Blue Rose captain, Suna would smile and nod her head in acknowledgement at both knights. She would have reintroduced herself, if she did not hear the voice of her mentor doing that for them. (Lydia Ravencrest✧) "Good evening, vice captain." She said in greeting. As Lydia introduced the pale-haired man beside her, Suna dipped her head once more. (Hania Ravencrest✾) She rather liked the way the icy-eyed man bowed; so elegant and effortless.
"I am Hania Ravencrest, it is a pleasure to meet you all this evening and I hope you are all enjoying the festivities."
"Pleasure to meet you, too." She murmured politely. Ravencrest...Lydia’s family then. She wondered just how many of the noble family had showed up at the ball, but she was glad to meet at least one family member related to her teacher. Her blue eyes now darted among the little group that had gathered together...more specifically, between the fire mage and the dark mage. If she felt any tension, her face did not show it. Then Lydia was turning to the woman next to the Green Mantis and saying something.
"Yes's mára ana cen - tye mime nur manen have tye been?"
Something stirred within her, like an old melody long forgotten. The words sound familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, yet more of the former than the latter. What was it? However, that would have to be for another time, but she made a note to ask the pink-haired mage about it the next time they met. But for now, she let the two high-ranked knights talk.
Suna turned her head briefly towards Valo. "Charles of the Black Bulls sends his regards." Her head tilted slightly to the side. "I didn’t know that you knew him as well. Such a small world." She would pause to let the conversion flow around them. Once there was a lull, she would speak up again. "It’s been nice to meet you all. I’m afraid we would need to take our leave now. I hope you all have a pleasant evening."
With a small curtsy, she would take her leave, with her escort presumably also leaving. The poor man must be so eager to get out of this stifling environment. She would allow him to lead her out of the crowd of people and towards the front doors. Right before they exited the palace, the blue-haired maiden would stop for a brief moment and take one last look around. The dull hum of chatter and clinking of glasses had not stopped, nor has the music. She caught a glimpse of the two musicians who had performed earlier, though they were now eating and deep in conversation with someone else. (Shizuyoru and Eritheia Silva) All around the hall, the lights were still shining bright and strong, just like all the participants in the ball, and she guessed it would go on for a long while.
As they exited the Royal Palace, she would take notice of a lonesome figure standing nearby. (Vulkan) Without pausing to wonder why, she dipped her head in acknowledgment at his presence and called out with a bright and cheery "Have a good evening!" before making her way down the steps and back onto the streets.
The elf could not help but throw her head back and breathe in the cool crisp evening air. No matter how much she enjoyed seeing the inside of the royal house, she still preferred to be out in nature and the great outdoors. She prodded the mercenary’s arm, assuming he was still next to her. "Are you all right, Hans?"

[attr="class","gentext"]
[attr="class","header"]Spirits returning to their rest
[break] The pale-haired captain looked to her dance partner and smiled a little at his words, she knew he had a long way to go on the road to his full growth and potential but she wasn't about to squash the pride he had in his progress "I know." she said simply to him as they started to dance "Every step you take makes you that bit stronger in yourself though you might not realise it..." she paused for a moment as she thought back on some things she read as a child "Think about if we were not in a world filled with magic, how life would be that much more difficult for us." she continued the smile never leaving her face "Right now you could hold up your hand and move flames all the way over it and start a fire with ease but I have something of an unusual request for you, some training so you can understand your own strength and growth." she said her step graceful as she moved at his slower pace but kept her grace "Create a fire without magic or the use of such things like a lighter." she said softly, she knew such a task shouldn't be a difficult one but it would drive her point home. All it took was a small board, two sticks, some string, a bit of kindling and some breath to make an ember but embers could easily go out when moving them to what would be the fire and even if it did get to it, it would need to be nurtured until a blaze happened or the whole thing ordeal would have to begin back at the beginning. [break][break] She had to wonder if he would imagine the task in his head and see what she was getting at but she truly wanted him to physically try this training because it would help him understand cultivation and growth not only in himself but the world around him. She chuckled lightly "We never stop learning and growing as strong and as wise as we may think we are there are always trees and mountains that are stronger and wiser than ourselves. In the case of the fire, you have volcanos and people like captain Kasai that you can use as a measure of strength and growth." she said her tone holding nothing but reverence for her fellow captain she knew that the man had darkness in his past but it would be hard to go through many of the wars and duties that he had without being marked by them in some way. She stopped dancing and looked Valo straight in the eye "One thing I want you to remember, that you must remember and I need you to promise this to me because it will be important in your path especially with where you have been and where you are returning." her tone was solemn yet still held its warmth and strictness to it as if it was an important piece of information he needed "Once you are touched by darkness it will leave a mark that will never go away so you must be careful on how you proceed forward." she was showing true concern for him on this matter she had seen too many people become tainted over the years and those taints that couldn't be seen slowly becoming visible in one way or another and couldn't bare someone with such potential walk down that path. [break][break] With her words spoken, she started to dance with him once more as he showed he understood that he too being from Kikka would need time to heal and mourn with the people of his home town. She doubted his captain would mind him taking some time away to do such a thing, it was a horrible thing that happened and for it to last so long just made it all that much worse. It was in the back of everyone's minds and weighed like a heavy burden on the hearts and minds of the captains who just wanted to go into the city and beat the daemons themselves but so many powerful mages going in could cause issues because it would leave the kingdom defenceless if there was yet another attack, not only that if they made even a simple mistake then it could cause great issues. These were illusion based daemons and if it was something that most captains were lacking in it was sensory, there were some that had sensory but that could only do so much in regards to dealing with the menace that needed to be eradicated for the good of the kingdom as a whole. Even when in her own thoughts she did catch how nervous her current escort was when she brought him closer to her body "Anyone would believe you haven't been this close to a woman before Lord Valoriss." she chuckled "As red as the sun maybe I am pretty sure your cheeks have outdone them in colour and warmth." she teased him finding it endearing to see his softer more vulnerable side. [break][break] She watched how determined he was and sighed shaking her head a little, it was admirable but he was thinking too much on what he was doing instead of just following his instincts and that disappointed her. "You think too much." she said with a saddened tone "Close your eyes ignore everything else but the music and my voice, allow the tempo and beat to lead you." she said calmly hoping that this would help him a bit she knew he wouldn't be able to rely on his eyes soon for many reasons so he needed to learn to concentrate on other things "Follow your instincts. When one of your senses are removed from you the others do their best to compensate for its loss." she instructed "Listen for the smallest change in tone, the way the air and current move, the vibrations in the ground, the flux within mana of people or things around you." she said calmly continuing to dance with him regardless of if he did as she requested "If you can't feel the vibrations in the ground take off your shoes, you can't always rely on what you see Lord Valoriss because eyes don't always tell you the truth as I stated earlier we live in a world of magic and trickery." she told him giving him hints on how he could better feel friend from foe and potentially detect discrepancies within certain illusions after all a child with the illusion of a large mana beast wouldn't match up within the mana weave or even in the vibrations that the ground gave, even the air around them would move differently. [break][break] She didn't mind the small break it was nice to meet other people even at such an inopportune moment "There's no reason to be sorry, it is always nice to meet people." she said warmly to him as they started once more as she shook her head "I understand your determination but it is better learning little by little than trying to take things in all at once, after all, doing the latter means you will forget a lot of the information or it will get muddled." she said to him as she looked him in the eyes "There's no need to try attempt running before you can even crawl, this is how mistakes are made and some mistakes were they may seem minor at the time they can come with a lot of backlash later." she said closing her eyes for a moment his own vice-captain was proof of that where it was for the good of the children and so made a deal with the archdaemon Sven it had severe ramifications indeed some that very few were privy to know but for the most part it was something that was kept out of records and the public eye. There were many rumours and much speculation why the former green mantis had 'left' her squad but the most common was for medical reasons. It was plausible because not everyone was sure what happened in Kikka or what abilities daemons or those under them had so it was the easiest reason to accept she guessed. [break][break] She did notice that though still slower than what the dance called for normally he had managed to get a hang of the dance but soon the music came to an end. She gave a courtesy to him as was customary before she heard a familiar voice speak near her, introducing her and the others to another, then a well mannered male voice came with a bow she had seen many times over the years "Haven't you grown Hania." she said kindly to the one dressed in reds, oranges and golds giving him a courtesy too before turning her eyes to her long time friend as she spoke to her "-yes's been a yare, where have tye been nurtale? Ve an me? Ni came at- -o a mission ana hir eth raque had a rauko attack -yes, hale died ar i captain man knows mana happened tar. Ni've been helping ana rebuild i town, i sundo, anne- aid ana i citizens ar was recentlime promoted ve tye sinte" she replied her voice sounding saddened over the whole situation. It was then that her fellow captain decided to give a few heartfelt words showing that the festivities were coming to a close and soon the spirits that walked amongst them would go back to feeling their peace once more. "The shroud is about to be lifted." she whispered more to herself than anyone else.
Word count: 1,614[break] Total Word Count: 7,128 [break][break] Translation [break][break] -yes's been a yare, where have tye been nurtale? Ve an me? “When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
The elf had started to answer the merc's...interesting question. Funny, the way she and that fire mage had met reminded Hans of a similar mission he went on...in that exact town if he is remembering correctly. Instead, it was with a guy who bore the same magic as Hans....A Ravencrest. Hans hadn't run into that person since which was a shame since he had some questions for him.
"Hm." Was all that Hans could say for a reply. His attention then went back to Valo. The way he reacted to her earlier made it seem like that there was a...bit more to the story than the sound mage let on....or maybe the dark mage was just overreacting....but about what? Hans still had no idea what these feelings were...or perhaps he does, and is just in denial? Hans' mind was going all over the place. He needed to focus on one person instead of two. He immediately shook his head, and turned his head to face Suna. "My...apologies." Hans said with a light nod.
The dancing continued on for a bit and Hans was starting to get better at the waltz. He fell into the rhythm of the music, and was able to keep his feet going at a steady flow with a good distance from the other dancers. The merc was starting to ease up because of this, not dreading this whole "dancing" thing like he originally thought he would. It was like a battle in some ways. Trying to keep himself one step ahead from the opponent, focusing on their every movement...It made this new experience feel familiar. The merc's dark eyes fell upon Suna...but hers appear to glance over elsewhere from time to time. With a hint of curiosity on his face, Hans turned his head to where the elf was looking...and it was on those him, no...them again. Hans raised his eyebrows a little under his mask before lowering them, his facing turning back towards the blue haired woman, but his eyes shifted to the side...silently in his thoughts. That brief moment of ease had slipped away, and that weird, tense feeling took its place once more. Hans did not know why she glanced over to them, but his mind filled in the blanks with ideas, each more absurd than the other...
At least he hoped so...
The merc's pacing slowed due to this, but it probably won't go noticed because the music was just now wrapping up.
"My thanks for the dance, kind sir."
"Hmm?" Hans brought his attention back to Suna and she was in the middle of doing a curtsy. He didn't realize that she had let go of him...and that the music stopped until now. "Ah..." The merc looked around and came to the conclusion. "Oh you're most...welcome." Hans attempted one of those fancy half bows with a hand on his chest...but it didn't go all that well. As he came back up from that poor excuse of a bow, a voice was now being broadcasted with nearly everyone within the area stopping to listen. It was one of the Magic Knight Captains, Ardere✧ Kasai of the Crimson Lions. He gave an inspirational speech of some sort which apparently he was well-known for. Hans knew that the "darkness" that man was referring to was those daemon attacks...and the one still in progress...the one the merc is planning on heading back into. Hans was never much a fan of rousing speeches...and this only reminded the guy of the huge risk he was going to take. The man is worried, there is no doubting that...but he still plans to fight, to atone for his previous screw-ups.
Most people clapped at the speech, but Hans didn't....He just stood there, deep in thought about the words. This was a nice little distraction from his...other dilemma, but it wasn't a good one...nor did it last for long.
It took a few seconds for Hans to realize that Suna was heading over to...the other two(Valo Stark✾/Alyssa Lilygate❃) now. The merc rubbed the back of his neck, and ended up following, a bit behind the woman. Then he noticed the elf jolt a little which made Hans stop and raise an eyebrow. "Suna?" The dark mage tilted his head a bit. She was now...talking to herself? No, she said Charles...but the merc started to look around, and didn't see nor hear the silver mage. Perhaps she had a little too much to drink while the man wasn't looking? No...must've been a communication spell...At least he hoped.
Now the couple had returned to Valo Stark✾ and Alyssa Lilygate❃, the former which he was looking at...questionably while slipping his gloved hands into his pockets. Then another familiar voice broke Hans from his focus. It was Lydia Ravencrest✧ who wanted to introduce someone to the group. It was another Ravencrest(Hania Ravencrest✾) which the merc didn't seem surprised about since he has come across quite few Ravencrests in his time. Hans nodded and was about to introduce himself...
....but then the newcomer bowed...and Hans froze in his tracks.
All of the trivial little problems the merc was having receded to the back of his mind as an "image" of a certain daemon flashed before the merc's eyes. Hans slowly lifted his hands from his pockets, with an eyebrow raised under his mask. Instinctively, Hans glanced over to Valo, not because of previous reasons this time...but to see if he was witnessing what the merc was seeing...
No...this is clearly some...coincidence...The mana is I'm guessing regular, and this man is clearly a man. Still, a chill ran down the merc's spine...but he let those thoughts die down for now. "Hans." The man finally introduced himself, sliding his hands slowly back into his pockets.
With everyone seemingly talking around him, Hans just kept to himself, looking off elsewhere. He still has yet to grow use to these sorts of social gatherings. From the corner of his eyes, the merc noticed Suna speaking with that fire mage, apparently relaying something to him from Charles. This further debunks the drinking theory Hans was having moments ago...but it didn't help to ease other things. Hans immediately turned his attention elsewhere, not looking bothered...despite the balled up fists in his pockets saying otherwise...trying to conceal the strange tension that he himself was only feeling. Whatever it was, Hans was going to need to learn to cope with it if he plans on continuing to train with Valo, who seems to be playing a role in this...situation of his, especially with the fated day quickly approaching...
"Uh...take care...of yourselves?" Hans said to the group right after Suna's departing words...a bit awkwardly. The merc is more use to just giving nods or the usual, "Later" but he felt that he needed to be more formal in this situation...which he fails at....At least he tried. With that, the duo had left, leaving out the royal palace, but before they stepped out, Hans caught a glimpse of the noble man he...sort of assaulted earlier wearing bandages over his nose. The noble seemed a bit distracted by the worried folks around him so he didn't notice the merc thankfully.
Now outside, Hans was heading down the steps, but stopped as he noticed that Suna wasn't with him. Looking up she appeared to be...acknowledging some other guy with long silver hair(Vulkan). Little did Hans know that he would see this man again real soon....But for now, the merc was trying his best to keep calm while these new frustrating emotions threatened to undo is stoic demeanor.
The two walked down the lively streets side by side, but Hans kept quiet and his attention elsewhere. It was almost like he was walking by himself until the woman's sudden question rang through his ears. "I'm fine..." The man claimed, his tone showing hints of doubt. The man wasn't fine...not at the least. He needed to do something...something to get rid of this tension of his. "Suna, wait..." The merc stopped, and if the elf did he'd turn to face her. "I..." The man really wished he had thought of what to say before stopping her. What did he want to say...What words did he need to tell her. But Hans was never great with words...but with actions. He needed to show her what he was feeling...and with that he slid his mask up, and hers as well if she let him, leaned over...and pressed his lips against hers, his palms resting on her cheeks.
All of that pointless frustration, the tension...how much he cared...he tried to relay it all...through this one kiss. Slowly his hands fell from her cheeks, and traced down her arms. Despite how distant he is, Hans did not care who watched...Not at this moment. A wave of relief had washed over the man, even if just for a moment. If she would let him, the merc would let the kiss linger...knowing that this might be the only few times he gets to experience this before heading off to that damned town....
Slowly lips parted, and Hans backed away a little, his stoic expression flashing a light smile. "I...I hope you enjoyed your night." The merc whispered, and just on time, the carriage that brought the two here returned. As the door opened, Hans helped Suna in if she were ready before stepping in himself. The Spirit Ball had its bumps, some Hans was predicting...and others he did not see coming...but it had its good moments too....This was an experience the merc was never going to forget.

"Really?" Suna raised an eyebrow at his claim, a little dubious and not really believing his words. She was still misunderstanding his irregular behavior as something else. "I’m sorry, I know how much you must dislike those kinds of environments...or is it because meeting Charles and Valo reminded you of that place?" Then it dawned on her. "Oh..."
All those little gestures, those apprehensive looks, that slightly begrudging air... The femme finally made sense of the situation. "Hans?" A little smile played about her lips. "Are you...are you jealous?" She leaned forward and craned her neck, looking closer into those dark eyes. Yes, there it was. It was definitely easier to see it in someone else than in oneself. She should have known.
However, it was not too long ago that she had been in the same spot, when she saw Hans’ childhood female friend flirt with him. She knew what it felt like, that uncomfortable and and mistrustful feeling of one’s partner interacting with a possible competitor. She never would have thought herself to have such a possessive quality, but knowing the mercenary had changed all that, and it seemed like he felt the same way about his competitions as well.
"Suna, wait...I..."
He had stopped, and she stopped with him. Then he was sliding his mask up, and the blue-haired maiden allowed him to lift hers up as well. The moonlight shone gently down on the elf’s fair face, reflecting off her starry eyes. Her head was tilted slightly upwards to face him, seeing his entire face for the first time that night. He still looked the best without the mask, especially now she could clearly see those gorgeous and mysterious dark eyes. Her breath caught. He was leaning in, and her eyes fluttered closed.
All around them, people were milling around, but the duo was lost in their own world. Suna could feel all the raging emotions behind his kiss, all the energy and conflicting feelings behind it. She wrapped her arms around his waist and let herself lean into him. An inner warmth spread throughout her body, a tingling and pleasant sensation that went from the top of her head all the way down to her toes. She would definitely miss this. His lips sweetly lingered on hers, both unwilling to pull away first...but the carriage was here to take them home.
"I...I hope you enjoyed your night."
His smile made her heart melt just a little bit more. "I enjoy anything when it’s with you," she whispered back, before climbing into the carriage. He came in after her, and the doors closed behind them. If he allowed it, Suna would entwine her fingers with his and lean her head against his shoulder. She had thoroughly enjoyed herself tonight, and let out a sigh of contentment.
"Thank you..."

”I’m sorry but I don’t belong to that family. Mine is that of farmers. We lived out in the country." Eritheia looked at Roman with such a pitying gaze. "And you still smell like ham? That's weird." She said quite sadly with a faint look of disgust look on her face. "And sad." She said somberly as she sipped her wine. "At least those Hahn's process their livestock in a sanitary facility and have a modicum of respect for running a fairly well-known business. I didn't realize you were one of those pig farmers who harvest on a farm in the middle of nowhere in a dirty barn surrounded by bacteria and various animal excrement. That's a hard life, I imagine. Not only are you a farmer but you smell like ham." She said, her voice filled with a mixture of sadness, relief, and disgust. Her voice was shaky as if it were giving into her emotions, which were likely amplified by the amount of wine she had imbibed.
She was feeling particularly sensitive to Roman's plight, but was far more thankful she wasn't a dirty, overall wearing farmer who has to slop the hogs and hack away at dead animals in a smell barn. "And to still smell like meat without the benefits of an income like the Hahn Meat Packing facility. Poor and smelly. What a life." She remarked somberly as looked at Roman with immense pity. "It's okay." She said while placing her hand on his. "Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me. But if it is important for you to keep up this ruse that you're master chef and not just a smelly farmer then I'll support you. You wouldn't want the other finding out because they'd relentlessly mock you. We'll get you some fresh clothes and some air fresheners. Maybe some fresh flowers! Yes, flowers would be good."
She nodded and took another sip of her wine. "What are you talking about?" She said while glancing over at Shizu. "I never mentioned anything about his magic or mine. but since we're on the topic, by nature his magic is inferior. He knows this. Don't you?" She said softly while patting him on the head "Nobles are well-known for having deep wells of mana and rarer magic, not to mention better control and aptitude. There is the occasional commoner who finds his way out of the slums and into positions of power. He could possess great magic power. It is just rarer among his breed." She said in an almost cutesy tone, as if she were speaking fondly of a beloved pet. "She seems very interested in your magic. Why not tell her about it."
Eritheia dipped her finger into some frosty and plopped it in her mouth. "I guess I have powerful magic. I suppose it is rare." She shrugged. "I've never really been concerned with its rarity or might. It has always come easy to me and I mostly find others concerned with my magic more so than I."

The apology certainly caught her by surprise. She had met a few decent humans, but she was surprised at how immediately the human seemed to shrink back from his prioer assertion. She tilted her head and hummed. Thinking to herself. "There's no need to be that apologetic. It's not particularly your fault that there have been some less than reputable sources flying about." She murmured softly. Well, partially reputable. There WERE a number of witches that partook in such things, and she grimaced in slight disdain at the notion of them going out and telling humans that all witches operated in such a fashion. The young man was simply a victim of advertizing. She sighed, rubbing her eyelids gently before her attention shifted toward his response to her little mask. Shse smiled lightly at that. "You're quite welcome! I don't actually know what you would use it for, but hopefully you like the little howling chamber in the nose." She noted.
As per the subject about Magical Squads.... she looked back and forth between Eritheia and Roman. It was....peculiar seeing the sortof passive disdain between humans. Eri was treating Roman.....frankly had she herself had expected to be treated, and she folded her arms, a little fascinated with the exchange. How peculiar that something as miniscule as population magical tendencies seemed to have on their interactions with one another. "I see. However, despite his farmhand upbringing, and his inferior magic, he has still managed to garner a position in the same squad as yourself, hasn't he? Which I suppose means that he must have worked very hard to get into the position he is in. He may very well manage to get himself into a position of superiority to yours if he continues to grow at his present rate, wouldn't you say?" she reasoned thoughtfully, looking to Eritheia for a moment. Again, perhaps...leaning a little into the fact that the woman was drunk. Shizu herself took a glass and smiled. "As young Roman says. You seem to favor competition. Surely then the two of you will be able to climb the ranks rather quickly using such rivalry. And in the spirit of such, why don't we have a bit of a contest?" She ventured as she began to pour two glasses of wine, holding one out to Roman. "I noticed that some of the nobles seemed to be staring at some of the staff and drinking under certain conditions. Some sort of game. This qualifies as competition, does it not?" She ventured. Quickly transitioning the subject, in the event that Eri took a bit less kindly than anticipated to the notion of Roman overtaking her. Well, rank-wise that is.
