Charles nodded, confirming to her once again that the two indeed have fought together on two different occasions. One of them was a simple job where they need required people to take down a pack of wolves that was causing trouble inside the town while the other one was more or less a for more unexpected and traumatizing experience for the two. It was still really hard to talk about the details, as very few people knew about truly occurred in Kikka. It was clear the two had a special type of relationship and the silver didn't decide to ruin it by giving such horrifying details to Suna and respect Hans's decision for not telling her what truly occurred. The Black Bull was one of the few people who understood what the mercenary experience back in that hell. [break][break] "That doesn't sound too bad, a few tips will be nice at some point." He replied to Hans who was far more skilled and experience in the use of the sword unlike him who was still learning how to get the hang of it. Tips from the mercenary would surely be helpful to improve his skills, even though Charles never considered himself the type of person to really use swords for fighting in close-quarters combat, he knew he had to expand his skills so he's ready when the next fight presents himself, the silver mage is hopefully capable to contribute of something. At this point, the Black Bull wouldn't be surprised if a mana beast popped up and he had to kill it. "At this point, I wouldn't even be shocked, haha." The silver mage found Hans's comment amusing, though he wondered how would that ever happen unless there was some sort of game that involved killing mana beasts. [break][break] Despite Suna showing her concern, considering it was taking place inside the Royal Palace. People would intervene if it got out of hand. "Eh, don't worry, Suna. I'm almost one-hundred percent sure that the Wizard King is there alongside other Magic Knight Captains so they would probably intervene if gets out of hand. This is supposed to be a festival, not a fighting ring." Even though, the Black Bull was also concerned he didn't think people inside would allow that it gets out of hand, it was supposed to be a party, and people inside were supposed to be civil. The blue-haired elf later asked him if he wanted to come along. "Sure, I was planning on going to the Royal Palace to check on the food and look for someone I need to talk to." His facial expression changed when he mentioned the person he was looking for. Quite unusual his part, but he was something he desired from that person and he was one of the few people he felt like he could rely on when it came in terms of magical strength, ability, and experience. Unlike Hans who was being pulled by Suna to check on the musicians, the silver mage had different reasons as to why he was going to the Royal Palace, even though he didn't like the fact of being surrounded by entitled nobles, he had no other option. [break][break] Charles followed the two towards the place where and was welcomed by the sound of music. The place was crowded as expected and a lot of the attention was focused on the musicians. The silver mage also took note of Suna's apparent interest in music, which seemed to have some sort of relationship with her magic, which was quite strange in its way, but he could easily see the connections. The Black Bull wasn't exactly a fan of music, nor did he have much interest in it. Of course, as soon as the music stopped and the crowd started clapping, he also clapped as a sign of respect even though he didn't have much interest in music, I assume what they did wasn't something everyone was able to pull off. Not long after they were done, Suna asked if the two were hungry to which Charles replied with a nod and a smug look on his face. "I've been waiting for to eat ever since I ever planned on coming to the festival. Also, the games here aren't really worth it, most of them are rigged. Only stupid people play those." He commented on the games, which were mainly used by owners to profit from it, tricking people into believing they may win a prize. Of course, it was possible to win a prize, but most of the time they spent more money on trying to win the prize while losing three times more money the item they won would've costed them in another place. [break]
Oh, how gratefully that at least someone was getting a kick out of him surrendering to the plight of the festival’s trivial convention. The smug look was nothing but a slight, but of course, Forrest still noticed it. [break][break] But of course, the night would just begin its time of ramping up, a bit too much Forrest’s own preference, who sincerely was just trying to get through it without any more fuss than he needed. [break][break] Certainly, a Captain and a Vice making the rounds would much such a task all the more difficult. So, when he made the comment about too many Lions in one grand ballroom, the obvious choice was to leave. [break][break] “Crowded indeed.” [break][break] And since Mor was so incessant on wasting his time with the blond himself, there was only one course of action, but to take him along. [break][break] [break] Perhaps he did feel better outside. A cool autumn breeze was enough to keep his mind a bit off what was happening inside. He wondered if it was rude to drag the bluenette along, who probably had other nobles and party-goers to would have been far more comfortable in mingling with. Instead, he now had a rather anti-social amnesiac on his hands. [break][break] At least Stump didn’t complain. In any case, as long as he had cookies about him it didn’t really matter where he happened to go. [break][break] A hand went to his mask, wondering if he looked as strange as he felt. Was he that uncomfortable? Did he look that uncomfortable? The answer was out of reach, and the reason, more or less, was because he’d seen sight of the Captain, again. Avoidance was the appropriate term to use in his behavior regarding the Kasai, but not one he wanted to outright admit.[break][break]
Losing himself in thoughts, he turned his head just in time to see Mor lean against the railing of the balcony as well. [break][break] "Champagne." [break][break] It wasn’t a question. “Thanks.” Forrest muttered the single word, taking the glass from the younger Lion. Though, the wood mage didn’t drink immediately, instead, looking at the white wine for another moment, running his fingers along the glass. [break][break] “Is this more your scene?" [break][break] At least, the young man was aware of Forrest’s rather blatant insecurities. The blonde himself must’ve seemed to out of place. “I’d say so.” He said softly in return, with something of a bitter smile gracing his lips. What was he doing really? And what was he doing here? Something about spending time away from the duties of a Knight, about distraction from the larger threats that they faced. As if such things could really be the out in the world without such concern. [break][break] But there was some irony in all of it, wasn’t there? As Mor called for a toast, Forrest simply shrugged his shoulders, lifting his own glass as well. [break][break] “Ah yes, to them indeed.” The sarcasm echoed in Forrest’s voice, and then he tipped back his head and took a rather large sip of his glass. [break][break] Casually, he wondered if being under some influence would put him in any better of a mood.
Not one for words, this one. Mor watched as Forrest took a decent drink from their glass while he almost hesitant to sip from his own, more interested in observing the other. What will it be to get the amnesiac to talk... Alcohol? The night was still young.
He smiled at the accepted toast and settled further against the railing after his own partaking. There were many things he could’ve asked the blond about, many things that he wanted to ask about, but they weren’t easy topics. They weren’t topics that brought up fond memories.
Topics of what the older could remember (their missing memory not from age), how he was faring with what he could remember. Topics of how nobility was treating him, how Mor would find ways to get his foot deeper into the pool of riches. But his aspirations can be saved for another day, couldn’t they?
At least, they could wait until Forrest was inebriated for his tongue to offer secrets, offer feelings.
Abruptly, “What would have you come dressed up as, if given the time, money, and second chance?” Mor turned to face his company, an elbow propped against the marble and head tilted in curiosity. The trinkets of his robe sleeves were loud against the stone. Would this topic be 'safe' enough for conversation? “And I don’t want no or nothing as an answer.”
”For your social anxiety, let’s say that there wouldn’t be any people around, or not as much. Or maybe that the people present would all be enraptured with what you wore, appreciative.”
“How would you costume yourself? A spirit? A daemon? Something entirely different?”
[attr="class","florencetext"] As Lydia was waiting for Typhon to answer her question she was able to tell that most if not everyone had there eyes on her. After all with an aura like Lydia's suddenly flaring up as it did it was hard for most people not to see what was going on. If the vice captain had to guess they were all more than likely wondering what was going on after all Lydia was normally slow to anger unless it was someone talking bad about her family or her squad which in this case happened so the temper the lions were famous for had come out. Perhaps the only thing that saved Typhon from getting stuck or losing a limb right then and there was the fact he was a Ravencrest himself even if he was a poor excuse for one. Well that and the fact there were to many eyes on her now. However she would only make eye contact with one of them that being her captain. However if the other pink haired mage happened to be looking at her she might have mistaken it for Lydia looking at her. The glass mage was able to tell what the look in Ardere's eyes meant they had been in the same squad for so long they didn't really need to speak words to each other at times. [break][break] Lydia's gaze would have a certain look in them however her eyes did flicker between her normal crimson color and a bright gold which only happened when she was super pissed. She knew that if she wanted to she could easily take a limb before her captain would be able to reach her but she didn't really want to deal with the fallout of what happened afterwards. As Typhon spoke Lydia's focus would return to him she didn't care that he insulted her with the statement that set her off as she didn't concern himself with the opinion of ants. It was what he said about the family that had angered the elf. It seemed that her captain wasn't the only one trying to calm her down. As her younger brother spoke to her while touching her arm she would allow her aura to return to normal hopefully taking most of they eyes of the Ravencrest. However as he made his comment about the Silva's Lydia would give him a look that was basically telling him never to say something like that again. [break][break] She would then let out a sigh. I'll let it slide this time Typhon as for the fighting among the family there will be no more at the ball tonight. Lydia however wasn't quite done speaking to Typhon just yet. With her hand still on his shoulder he would lean in and whisper so only he could hear what she said. If I ever hear or hear about you shamming our family name again I will kill you. I don't mean it as a threat either I can promise you on my honor as a Ravencrest I will do it without a second thought do I make myself clear? Lydia didn't really care if he answered or not she had drawn a clear line in the sand if he crossed that line or not was up to the younger mage. She would then take her hand of his shoulder as the last Ravencrest at the ball showed up. [break][break] Waylynn would of course greet Lydia and comment on her dress before asking if she could steal Michail to show him something interesting. Lydia figured it was more than like a lie due to the fact Michail was scared of Lydia for good reason. Well Waylynn your outfit suits you perfectly as well. As for stealing him away that's fine we're hear to have fun after all. I also have things to handle myself. Lydia would give all of them a small before breaking off from the group heading towards Ardere. Well Captain you put on quite a entrance however it seems I stole the spot light not soon after.

Valo Stark
"Don't need a reason to seek strength."
Celebrate at a time like this, he didn't want to take part in it. He was going to refuse any and all invites to this Spirit Ball. He couldn't risk losing focus not right now, there was simply to much at stake. The return to Kikka was getting closer and closer, the past few weeks Valo has dedicated himself to his training. Perfecting his new spells for battle, getting a better handle of his staff. Making sure that when he went back he was twice the knight he was back then. Going back to Kikka and saving everyone meant way more to him than anything else right now, especially some kind of party like the Spirit Ball. Very little would change the young fire mages mind.
Until a certain request came along, apparently the new Blue Rose captain Alyssa Lilygate had sent out a personal request for Valo to join her at the ball. This one caught him off guard why would a brand new captain of the Blue Rose squad request him a simple member of Green Mantis. Blue Rose and Green Mantis couldn't be more opposite, Blue Rose was known for its womanly elegance making perfection and grace it's main priority. Green Mantis was a squad of former thugs, criminals and trouble makers there was nothing elegant about them, except for the former vice captain Artemis Somerset.
Artemis Valo's mentor prior to what happened in Kikka, a true standout in Green Mantis many people in the squad including Valo saw the future with her at the lead. That dream was dead and gone now. But what wasn't gone was her many many words of advice and leadership, he remembered her mentioning this Alyssa Lilygate as someone to learn from and this was prior to her becoming the Blue Rose captain. After a long day of training the day of the Spirit Ball, Valo took some moments to reflect on what he should do. He could just not go, and no one would bat an eye. Or he could go with this Alyssa Lilygate and learn something from her. Learn what it's like being a new leader. Aside from Barron who was barely an active captain for the squad, Green Mantis was void of one. Valo had little ambition to be a leader of a magic knight squad, he was a common thug from Kikka how was he going to be a leader. The fire mage did something rare and doubted himself especially when it came to things he had little understanding of. But he could learn. He could start to learn how.
Valo found himself getting ready to attend this event, he still had his doubts but for the most part he had already made up his mind. He was going to go and escort Ms. Lilygate to the Spirit Ball. Perhaps she had something to teach him, some knowledge or advice for the futre. Maybe he was looking to much into it, but the only way he was going to know was if he tried. Though he hasn't cared much recently, Valo still had his closet full of clothing options and accessories. He took his time cleaned himself up well and put on his best looking black and white suit with a matching mask. He fastened the cuff links on his shirt, summoned his dragon golem hopped on and took off towards the ball.
Upon arrival he hopped off his golem and saw quite a few familiar face shapes given the masks. Getting a good look at this whole thing, this ball was not his scene. This seemed like more of a noble thing. Everyone was dressed in fancy suits and wearing fancy masks, just like him but it was different seeing just about the whole town doing it. The theme was spot on to, it was an entire spooky vibe. His eyes darted around looking for the Blue Rose captain, he saw a lot of magic knights and some civilians. He would look around some more spotting some more familiar bodies, not to far was his current training partner and new ally Hans and it looked like he was talking to Charles another ally Valo had met a few times. They were both at Kikka along with him, for a few moments Valo found himself thinking about Kikka, Nanami and Charlotte. He wondered if those guys were going through the same things he was going through, on a day to day basis. He looked at Charles face and remembered the last time he saw him when they found out they had to escape Kikka with their lives. But he let those thoughts go for now.
But there was another person with them, one that Valo could have sworn he seen somewhere but couldn't put his finger on it. He thought a little bit then it finally hit him that was Suna! The blue haired elf he met that one day, he truly thought he would never see her again. A small smile appeared on his lips when he remembered she threw that tomato at him. It felt like such a long time ago, back when he was just a rookie junior knight. Valo wanted to say something to all three of them, his first stop had to be the captain he was supposed to escort.
Upon his arrival there was already quite the commotion, he saw in the palace halls Lydia Ravencrest was in the middle of it and she looked pissed. The first thought in his mind was someone was able to make Lydia pretty angry, he was a little jealous. Though the Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions was much much more powerful than him, he saw her as this rival or obstacle he wanted to surpass. So because of that he was often throwing jabs at her, for a fight or a spar so he could learn from her. But this looked like something different, she looked truly pissed off at whoever she was talking to. May mercy be upon the person who feels Lydia Ravencrest's unfathomable fury. But it looked like the guy was already apologizing and about to piss his pants. Lydia's mana could be felt throughout the halls now, it was truly intimidating. It instantly reminded him of that Green Mantis spar that took place some time ago. "Someone was able to piss off Lydia Ravencrest more than me...I'm jealous." Valo said to himself looking at the situation.
He saw Alyssa dressed in a pale green and baby blue dress, a matching mask. Her hair tied in a long plaited bun. Her hair gave her away, it made it easier for him to spot her. Valo approached her just a little nervous. "Are you Alyssa Lilygate?" he would ask her trying to confident. If she answered yes, he would continue. "Sorry for lateness. I...was debating on actually coming." he finished, rubbing the back of his head.

He actually didn't want to attend the ball, there was plenty for him to do such as reading a book or cooking, hell he would even take training over the catastrophe that this ball had turned out to be thus far. He knew his sister wasn't one to anger that easily but if one of the more sensitive subject buttons were pushed well the hot-headedness that their squad was known for would raise its head and there was no force in the universe that would be able to calm it down that quickly and those that could normally wouldn't be fast enough to stop mount Lydia before she blew her top and everything around her was destroyed in the aftermath. He was luckily one of the few people that could calm his sister's fury but then he had all but been raised by her since he was a child and so had picked up some of her mannerisms due to that fact. He didn't see it as a bad thing but he did try his best not to bring attention to himself and the family in the wrong way if it could be avoided, Lydia at the moment seemed to have given no damns on the matter as it seemed like she was ready to pull Typhon's arm from his body and was ready to bitch slap him with it till he was nothing more than a bloodied heap on the floor. In his personal opinion, the idiotic fool deserved far worse but this was neither the time nor the place for such things to be happening, there were too many witnesses and with two of the strongest men in existence also in attendance, he was pretty sure at least one of them would be able to stop her before she landed a blow. Had that happened the only blow that would be done was to the reputation of the family and no one wanted that even the waste of space that was Typhon.
He knew he had messed up by mentioning that if this continued they would look no better than the Silva but it had seemed to get his point across to the head of the family. He had no idea what the feud between his family and that family was and nor did his elder sister from what he could tell, it had just always been this way for generations and it didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon. He caught her gaze and micro nodded so only Lydia would know he understood what she was getting at. He hated making comments like that as he knew for a fact it would come and bite him eventually but if it made the family save face he was more than happy to take the penance it would take to atone for it. 'The families name and reputation come first.' he reminded himself as he watched Lydia move in to whisper something into Typhon's ear, he didn't even have to hear what his sister was saying to know that it was his only get out of shit free card he had used up and there would never be a second. It seemed like each member had one within their own deck but very few had ever pulled them, actually, now he thought about it only two members of the family ever had. Typhon the arrogant and Michail the stupid and least one of the two had learned his lesson and the other well he wasn't longed for this world and no one would lose one bit of sleep over it.
Once Lydia had moved away he turned away and headed towards the exit, he had enough of this ball his head was hurting just by the interactions with his family. There was a reason that he tried to avoid certain members of his family and this a firm reminder of that. He never knew he might find a new book or scroll in one of the festive stalls on his way home, he also had to hope that he would be able to get away before Lydia noticed or one of his family members tattled on him, neither of which would be good in his opinion and he wouldn't lie about what he was up to if asked because he knew better than to lie to Lydia, he liked being without pain and enjoyed reading to much to even think about being grounded from his library for additional training. Still, he was willing to risk it for a little bit of peace and quiet. It was quite a pleasant evening none the less seeing noble and commoner alike coming together and forgetting the woes that had befallen the kingdom and were still going on in the terms of Kikka. He stopped at the door and closed his eyes his hand going to his head as he got some flashes, things like this weren't exactly new for him he had been getting them for as long as he could remember and likely even before then but they had been getting stronger since the day he had fallen into his coma.
He always knew lying to Lydia was never a good idea but how could he tell her that he was getting night terrors of things he didn't understand and flashes while he was awake that seemed so vivid that he felt like he wanted to throw up given what he was seeing. He had already been thrown away by the family that had given him life and should have protected him but didn't. He was given a new life and family by Lydia and the other Ravencrest which he was eternally thankful for, given their standing even within the noble circle. Even after everything his elder sister done for him by standing up to her father he was still afraid that he would be cast aside once more and so had held these cards to his chest for the last twelve years, still, he knew that eventually, he would have to tell her he just had no idea how when he had no understanding of what he was seeing. 'I'm sorry Lydia, I'm trying my best to live up to what you expect and need of me but there's... something not right...' he thought to himself as he started to move out of the ballroom sluggishly almost like he had been drinking though he had touched nothing since he had left the families estate.
Finding somewhere quiet he would sit down and close his eyes in the hopes he might centre himself "Why did I see that... whatever that is..." he whispered to himself as he tried once again to make sense of it but nothing was coming no matter how hard he tried the answer always seemed out of his grasp "It's so dark and yet..." he trailed off shaking his head bringing his knees to his chest almost like he had as a small child when troubled by something "Clear your thoughts, calm your mind..." he whispered over and over again in the hopes that it might calm the darkened storm of his mind like it had normally but yet it currently only seemed to make it worse at that moment in time.

Oh, Hania. Hania, Hania, Hania. If it wasn't for the fact that he was trained by Lydia, was the next heir, a Ravencrest--which meant family, a far more skilled mage than he was, and several other factors at play, Michail had a right mind to punch him. It would fail horribly, but that wasn't the point. Still, he was a Noble, and that act alone was quite unbecoming of one. To say nothing of the fact Lydia was right beside him. But seriously, that was just...
well, rude.
More importantly, however, was Typhon's action.
Typhon's apology was roughly as effective as dousing a the sun itself with a water pale. Though admittedly, there was a part of him that was sad, too. For his troubles, Lydia had given him a scar through sheer unbridled violence! Typhon was just met with the assurance of death but was otherwise fine. Well, as fine as one could be when Lydia Ravencrest had assured you of your death if you acted up again.
Only once the head of the Ravencrest left was Michail able to relax, taking in a deep breath. She at least hadn't confronted him on this. All of that anger was directed towards Typhon. At least on this front, he could agree with it. Typhon had done more than step out of line the moment he questioned any member of the family. Michail didn't trust her, but that trust was only the result of not understanding her. Even still, she was the head of the Ravencrest family. To that end, she was to be respected, and that respect outweighed any doubts he had of her. Until confirmation of any sort of conspiracy could be had, he wasn't to question anything.
"But of course dear sister," Michai gleefully said, happily accepting his sister's offer. She likely knew how petrified he was in this moment, and so any chance to get away was far more important to him. He happily went wherever Waylynn decided they'd go, just as long as it was in the opposite direction of their cousins.
Once it was just the two of them Michail seemed like he was about to blow his gasket. "That fool! Does he even utilize even a single aspect of his brain?" he asked in a raised voice, once they had been separated from the others. If they had, at least. "It's one thing if he wants to get himself killed, but I have no interest in dying as a result of his own sheer stupidity!"

[break] The new captain of the Blue Roses felt a little out of odds given how many of those around her seemed to have arrived with a date, it was true that she had invited one of those who had been at Kikka during the day of the initial attack but she was still unsure if he would accept her request. She could only imagine everything that the young man had experienced with the addition of losing his vice-captain to a disgraceful act. She personally could understand why the lady somerset would have done such an action, children were indeed the future of the kingdom but if she had been put in the same situation she would have sacrificed the six children. She, of course, would have regretted the action in her own leisure and have made a monument to them within her family state but it is the needs of the many over the needs of the few in her opinion. In war, there was no grey only black and white and you had to weigh the lesser of two evils to find the white at the best of times which was something she disliked but it was part of the job they had taken when they decided to become magic knights. 'If I remember correctly that is his home town, that must have added insult to injury.' she thought to herself as she weaved amongst the guests, she smiled seeing Jagen and Samson leading by example drinking and being merry overall but she realised they too must be feeling the burden of what happened to the defensive point of the kingdom. Still, even with everything going on they had to prove that they stood strong and wouldn't falter in the face of such a darkness. [break][break] It was true that the Blue Roses were quite the opposite of the Green Mantis, they were strong, elegant and dignified where the Green Mantis were strong in their own right but they were coarse and done the less than savoury work of the kingdom but still, they had an important purpose in her mind. They gave that much needed second chance to those who wanted to turn over a new leaf, it was admirable in her books as it showed people could change and wanted better for themselves and the kingdom as a whole. With the Lady Somerset's termination from the squad, it left the young Valo the next in line to take the position of vice-captain and if she could strengthen him for the responsibility then she would. She was already well aware that he had volunteered to go back into the darkness, it was to be expected in her opinion he had lost part of himself within the darkness of that town, as to what it was she couldn't even fathom a guess as to what it was. Pride? Respect? Whatever it was she could only imagine the despair and loathing for himself that he must have felt. She was brought out of her train of thought as she saw a tray of sparkling wine being offered out to her, she only shook her head to it "No thank you, alcohol dulls a sharp mind." she said to the man who was one of the waiters for this affair. It was true she could have taken the glass but then she would just have been carrying around with her all night to the point it would have gone flat, to her it was just a waste in all honesty. [break][break] She turned her attention back towards the entrance of the hall feeling the angry aura of her friend reducing once again "Thank goodness." she said shaking her head, she couldn't blame Lydia for being hot-headed given how some of her family acted but this was the last place such things should have really happened. She had to admit if Lydia hadn't dealt with it she was more than walk past and grab the one who was the catalyst for such a disgraceful act of one of the five main noble houses. She would also kick them around like a football while wearing heels just for the added insult to injury, then beat them like a drum for not only ruining her night but her shoes too. For now, however, peace had returned to the ball and knowing Lydia she would have told her family if they didn't behave themselves for the rest of the night there would be consequences for the continued disruptive actions. "So uncouth for such a well known and strong family, it couldn't be that she is losing control as head of the family." she said to herself more than anyone else, she knew that Lydia would happily make a family member disappear for the greater good of her family, it was one of the very few things that rivalled her loyalty to the kingdom and she could understand such a thing as she was quite the same and it was a very fine line in her opinion as one bad seed can not only destroy a family but put a kingdom into ruin and people in there positions would never allow either to happen, it wasn't within their natures. [break][break] Eventually, a voice would pull her attention away from what she was looking at, it would seem like her young escort had decided to accept her invitation and even dress up for the occasion, the latter she didn't expect but it was appreciated. "It is not something to be jealous of." she reminded him even though he was likely to far from him to hear it given how softly spoken she was at the time. In honesty, even in a friendly spar accidents could and at times did happen; when you were fighting with people as strong as herself or Lydia those accidents could end careers or even lives. It wasn't anything against those they were fighting against it was just it was so easy for them to get into a certain mindset and forget. Hearing him finally speak to her she gave a small curtesy and smiled nodding "Yes, I'm Alyssa Lilygate, you must be Lord Valoriss Stark." She indeed used his full first name as they were for now only acquaintances and so didn't feel right to be anything other than formal. She knew that he didn't hold the standing of a noble but still during this ball everyone was equal and so as she was a noble that made him the exact same, in honesty, she didn't mind if he didn't do the entire formality but it was in her mannerisms when she was allowed to relax just a little. Moving into a small pouch bag she was carrying she brought out a bound cloth and held it out to him with both hands "I thought you may have forgotten a mask so I got one crafted for you." she said with a smile, when opened it was an elegantly crafted mask, it was the same colour as his squad's mantle with a shield and an emerald mantis on it. "I knew no one would be wearing their mantles tonight but I believe you are always one to show who you are and that you are proud of that." she said with a genuine voice. [break][break] Hearing his last sentence she brought up a hand to cover her mouth and laughed "I guessed as much, a lot as happened in the last two months and you have gone through terrible things..." she said her smile vanishing for a moment being replaced with sadness and concern. "For those that went through the attacks and have even decided to go back this ball is needed more than the rest of us Lord Valoriss." she looked around the music-filled hall, people smiling, joking, laughing drinking and dancing "Even with a daemon still within our mists it is quite important for us to take the time to do exactly what we are doing. It reminds us of what we have lost, what we are still protecting and why we are fighting forward..." she turned back to him "We remember what even though we are in the light there are those that are not, that they, for now, are spirits at ill-ease and that at the end of the festival like the spirits of those long ago they will once again find peace because the darkness that the night brings too will be gone." she knew that this was likely something that he didn't want to hear but he needed to hear so he could look at things from a different perspective. "Tonight, I will likely be asking you a few questions that will be hard for you to answer but I promise they will help in your endeavour when you go back to your home town but for now shall we dance?" she asked with a smile on her face.

At the very least the whole thing ended rather peacefully and quickly. She probably shouldn’t have been surprised that Hania had gone in before her, but it didn’t matter she had held back intentionally if Lydia had wanted her foolish cousin would have already been on the floor, no this wasn’t the place she supposed.
It didn’t take her long to brink Michail away, of course they would go back to the ballroom when things were a bit… quieter but for now she led them out to one of the side entrances, far enough away from the active festivities but close enough they could easily be found again. There was at the very least a nice overview of the city, decorated for the festival with lanterns and lights all about. Of course Michail was upset, he started yelling about it, valid complaints aside that were unnecessary.
”Brother calm yourself, at worst you were in the splash zone. Besides that, you know that he doesn’t use his brain, he would keep his mouth shut if he did, and especially there are other people around.” She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed, shaking her head at the current situation. ”I mean really, he just couldn’t wait to start digging his own grave for five minutes after he gets here. Must he have ruined the ball? There were so many other ways he could have made an absolute fool of himself and he chose the one singular thing that would make every single one of us angry.” She had started pacing, actually getting more angry about it the more she considered the whole situation, what exactly was wrong with the Solar mage that he thought that was appropriate to say, let alone be a conversation starter. ”I wouldn’t think anyone could have come up with something worse to go on about, he was just homing in on it for no reason. Whatever, I’m done talking about it he better not bother us again or Lydia isn’t the only one he’s going to have to worry about putting him in his place.” She closed her fist and then let it go, she was more composed than that, at least she wanted to be.
She walked towards the view, the capitol was beautiful as always. ”Maybe skipping the whole of the festival was a mistake. At least we would have missed Typhon, but ah not coming to the dance would be difficult and I’d rather have been here in any case. It’s too bad I couldn’t at least dance before,” She leaned over onto the railing, this wasn’t supposed to be so stressful.
It seemed like the two males with her were of the same mind, so Suna started to make her way towards the food area. That is, until Charles commented on the games. Her face flushed scarlet in embarrassment. The mercenary must have known of that fact, yet he still wanted to win the flowers for her. "This is my first time at a festival," she said honestly, "I didn’t know that the games were rigged. Are...are all of them that way?" Here she waved the bouquet of blue flowers underneath the silver mage’s nose, which she still held in her free hand. "Hans won these for me. We, uh," here she blinked innocently, "had a lot of fun...outplaying the vendor."
Now the trio were heading towards the area where most stalls were selling food. Suna was following behind Charles, with Hans by her side. The mix of delicious scents were wafting in the air, of savory and sweet, of spice and soothing. There were so many choices, so many types of food being served. Everything from fried fishballs to noodles to steamed buns to kebabs. Then there were the desserts, from hot sweet soup to cold ice cream to little cakes and every sort of sweets in between. Her mouth was watering. What should they get first?
Then she felt a tug on her cloak from behind. The elf craned her head to look back, but did not see anyone. Hmm...must be my imagination then. As they continued on, she felt another tug. Again, she looked back, but did not see anyone, none that she could tell. Everyone walking around her looked preoccupied, or hurrying somewhere else. Interesting. What was going on? Must be a spooky prank, or something of that sort. But where was the individual in question?
The first thing she thought of was someone trying to steal the flowers Hans won for her, so she quickly tucked it underneath her clock. There was no way she was letting any nimble thief steal this precious gift away. The elf decided to keep an eye out, but with the delicious goodness now spread out before her, it would be hard to concentrate.
Stalls upon stalls, all selling different types of food. Next to the kebabs, the vendor was selling hot sweet rolls. Immediately, Suna’s mouth watered. "Can we get that?" She asked, then realized something. Did she not bring yul? Why was she even asking for permission? With that, she changed her question. "Do you two want some?" Depending on what their answers were, she would order either a couple of them or a small sack. She took one out and bit down into the warm roll.
"Mmmm..." She sighed in contentment, and licked the sides of her mouth. Soft and warm, buttery and sweet, this was life. "What do you two want to get?" For now, she was sated, but the two men were free to go get whatever they wished. She would follow behind them to the food stalls they chose, delicately licking the melted sugar off her fingers and totally engrossed in her own little sweet heaven for the time being.

A smile had arisen on Nixi's face. The day had finally come!
He made it to the festival rather early. He wanted to sight-see before heading to the palace ball. He had his own thrown-together costume he made and put on for the festivities. He had on blackened robes with bright crimson threaded lining. He was also wearing white gloves and shoves, but what stood out the most in his attire was the white devil mask he wore. It only covered half his face and replaced the part of his mouth that was covered with a more stitched smile. It had a singular corkscrew horn and one hollowed out eye hole that casts a densely darkened shadow over his eye, completely removing it out of sight.
Despite his alluringly creepy attire, nothing could stop nor hide his beautiful, full-teeth smile.
"This is exactly what the people needed," he looked around as people of all varieties partook in the events happening. Nixi couldn't help but watch participants win amazing prizes at some of the events hosted by nearby shops and their keepers. Knowing how loud joy could be was a blessing to see in itself as people laughed chattered about. It warmed Nixi's heart making him even more excited for what else the night had held.
Music was filling the air. It was contagious. People began to break out in random dances. They too were contagious. Nixi couldn't help himself. He first watched as a small group of people all gathered in singles and duos to dance to their heart's content. Some just couldn't wait and began dancing before getting to the palace. It was a festival for people to enjoy themselves...and that's exactly what Nixi did. He included himself in one of the nearby groups and began dancing with his fellow people and comrades.
His deep-gutted laughter could be heard for miles.
He didn't want to spend too much time at the street events however. His eyes were really on the palace, the drinks, and the food. All of which he couldn't stop thinking about. He purposely skipped breakfast and lunch just so he'd have enough room in his stomach for whatever was being served on such a wondrous occasion.
He didn't want to waste too much time so he did hurry his way to the ball. He hadn't socialized much with other squads and their members, but he felt what better day and what better way than today. He needed to make his presence known more, not in a commanding 'Oh look at me!!' kind of way, but more so a 'Oh hey! It's Nixi!'.
He was going to this event for more reasons than one, but ultimately he just wanted to have a good time and that is exactly what he was given.
Making it to the Palace he steadily entered the doors. He honestly treated the place like a museum. He was always the type for sightseeing in any setting, it never mattered to him what the setting was. He followed a broken trail of scattered people to where he believed the ball was taking place.
The closer he got the louder the music and chatter of others became. He felt his heart pumping something fierce but in a way preparing him to take on the world.
Calming himself down while being just steps away from the highly anticipated Spirit Ball, he took a much needed deep breath before making his way into a little slice of Paradise.
The people, the colors, the lights, the foods, the drinks. So much to see, so much to do.
"Oh lordie, where do I start?" Nixi said aimlessly trailing his eyes across the room as he could see other Magic Knights and Nobles talking amongst one another. They seemed to be enjoying themselves as they indulged on their wine.
Nixi spent a little too much time dancing in the streets. He had noticed this by the number of people in the ball. He thought back to the moments when he was dancing and shrugged his shoulders. He was having a good time, he might even go back out later and see if any more of those groups are still as lively as ever.
GUUURRRGGLLE
His stomach started screeching at him as he realized all the dancing he's done with no food in his system was probably not the smartest idea. He shrugged to himself again. It mattered to him not for he still had fun.
He trailed his eyes across the room again, this time with purpose. Within seconds he immediately spots a food-filled table as he hastily makes his way to its side; knees to chest, knees to chest.
Stars in his eyes and drool escaping the corner of his mouth he gathered what he could on a plate and didn't even bother finding a place to sit. He just turned around standing in front of the table, happily going away at his platter.
"Could food taste any better?" He said not knowing if it was his own words or the hunger that established land in his own stomach. whatever the case may be, he worried about nothing other than enjoying himself and the people around him. He tried his hardest to make it look as less obvious as possible how hungry he was but he just couldn't seem to stop the motion of fork-to-plate-to-mouth. The more he ate the more his mouth watered. He found his inner zen, his happy place.
"Who made this cuisine," he'd murmur to himself as he'd continue to moderately indulge. Before he knew it he'd have to go back for fourths...where on earth did he put seconds and thirds??
He felt rude he hadn't greeted anyone before eating but he was afraid his stomach was going to do most of the talking. Or maybe a grumbling stomach adds to the appeal of his creepy devilish costume. He didn't want to test that theory, but he surely put a pin in it for next time.

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
As Charles brought up the rigged games here, the merc rose his head up a bit and glanced over to Suna as she spoke. "Y-yeah, I...wasn't aware of this either." The merc could tell from the red on Suna's face that she was a bit flustered over this, so Hans decided to tell a little lie so she didn't have to go through this embarrassment alone. Of course, Hans was aware of the strong potential for scams here, but it didn't stop him from trying to win those flowers for the elf.
The merc nodded with a small smirk as the flowers were brought up. "It was all Suna's idea...Didn't know she had it in her." he claimed teasingly, gently bumping her elbow.
With the talk about flowers and scamming bastards out of the way, the trio were off to fill their empty stomachs with some of that good ol' festival food. Hans followed behind Charles as well, the dark mage's arm locked gently around Suna's. As they walked, the guy's dark eyes started to wander again, observing the various folks who were out and about. It seems like more people has arrived which makes sense considering how long the ball has been going so far. At first, Hans was not really looking forward to coming here despite it being his idea. He isn't too fond of being around so many people, and in the noble region of all places, but he did it anyway for Suna, and now he was beginning to loosen up a bit, especially with seeing how much fun others were having.
There were of course the occasional children that immediately turned tail and scurried off to their parents after taking one look at the man's mask...but that's to be expected.
Perhaps he should've wore something less...menacing?
Now at the food vendors, Hans' nose was invaded by the various pleasant smells being given off by the vast assortment of food before him. This is the man's first time at one of these events, but he always imagined there would be food...and he was far from wrong. This exceeded his expectations, and one could only imagine what was being served within the palace.
The merc's eyes fell upon a particular stall selling various kebabs. Meats and vegetables all skewered on a stick? Who could ask for more!?
Hans was just about to say something about it until he noticed Suna looking behind her before tucking the flowers away. Blinking twice, Hans looked back at where she was looking and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Did something happen? Whatever it was, it didn't seem like too much of a trouble as the woman was once again talking about the food. "Sure." Hans nodded, looking over to the sweet rolls. It was fortunate that the food was free at least because Hans was running really low on yul thanks to how expensive this suit was....and of course that scamming fiend.
Hans would take his bag of sweet rolls and pick one out. He looked at it for a second before looking over to Suna, cracking a little smile as she enjoyed her own. The merc wasn't much of a sweets guy, it wouldn't hurt to try.
So he took a bite...then another....and another...."...Not bad." he claimed...with his mouth full of crumbs.
Still, the dark mage had his eyes set on those kebabs, and wasted no time ordering one filled with vegetables, pork, and steak. Picking up the stick, Hans closed his eyes and blew on the food before taking one bite. The moment his taste buds got a feel of the food, his eyes immediately opened and he continued to eat it with a bit more enthusiasm than the sweets...but he still managed to restrain himself to keep from looking like some pig. "Huh...you both should try this." he said, gesturing at the stall, and as he did this, another stall had caught the guy's attention.
Finishing his kebab, Hans would step over to a stall selling various kinds of booze, but out of all of them, there was a particular bottle that Hans had his eyes on, in a similar fashion as he did those flowers previously. "Is that...ale?" Hans asked the woman running the stall and she nodded. The merc nodded as well, and with that, the woman brought down the bottle and was about to pour it in a mug until..."Wait...Th-the bottle." Hans added. The woman raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly. "Guess we got ourselves a viking here." she said before sliding the bottle over to Hans. Whether she was allowed to do this or not was up for question...but she didn't really seem to give a damn.
Hans grabbed onto the bottle and lifted his mask up a bit. He popped the bottle open with ease, and had it mere inches from his mouth...until he paused and glanced over to his partner and Charles if they were watching.
"Uh...Would any of you two...want some?" he asked, obviously a bit flustered by how barbaric he was about to be.

Eritheia set her sights on the palace as Shizu warmly expressed gratitude for her generosity. "Thank you very much, miss!" She offered Shizu a subtle nod and smile, but it lacked the warmth she might have been seeking. It was polite with cold and distant undertones. Eritheia was guarded, no doubt a consequence of her upbringing. It was unbecoming of a noble to be too expressive. It was much preferred to contain one's emotions, expressing little so as not to leave yourself vulnerable. Battles were often fought using emotion. They were deep rooted and easily manipulated. The less you give your opponent, the less ammunition they have at the start of the battle. And as she quickly learned, life was a battle. A treacherous minefield that warranted care and caution. But this one seemed nice enough. Shizu wasn't particularly ostentatious and every comment wasn't laced with poison like her own. She could feel at ease around her if only because she wasn't her.
Eritheia seemed to float toward the palace like a cloud, making sure to outpace Shizu. She might find her good company but she was a mere commoner. It wouldn't have been appropriate to walk side-by-side as equals. At least not quite yet. "I should hope so." She said in response to Shizu's comments about the palace. "You'd be unwelcome if you were to have stormed in by your lonesome. I suppose the Wizard King did declare that all were invited to participate in the festivities, but such honorable efforts would fall on deaf ears for many of the noble houses. They'd much prefer to to celebrate their gluttony and avarice in private, without the prying eyes of commoners even if they are Magic Knights." She added with a most devious whisper while leaning slightly in Shizu's direction. "You see, they've convinced themselves they aren't terrible people by declaring themselves heroes. Save a life or two and you're excused for anything remotely deplorable. Save a hundred and you're unimpeachable. Not even the mightiest accusation could pierce that." Eritheia glanced over at Shizu with an almost inscrutable expression. And yet, somehow it told an entire story. Veiled by her control was a near insidious acknowledgment that she too benefits from this system. It was yet another reminder that while Shizu was her temporary companion, the Kingdom of Clover had chosen its side and they would experience things very differently.
"I suppose I shouldn't have shared that with you, but I've never been known to follow the rules, even if they might be unspoken." With a faint, dismissive chuckle, Eritheia guided Shizu through the doors of the palace. Even during festivities it was heavily guarded, having its own set of guards outside of the Magic Knights. "Ah, what a glorious sight." The majesty of the palace's interior was turly a sight to behold. It was so extravagantly decorated it had even Eritheia basking in its splendor. "Come, come." She said as she passed flocks of nobles with their full glasses and even fuller bellies. She turned and gestured for Shizu to adjust her posture. "Stand up straight. Don't slouch. Conduct yourself with dignity. You receive respect by demanding it with your demeanor." She remarked as she smacked Shizu in the back to stiffen her frame, even if she hadn't needed it. Eritheia's mouth practically drooled as she set her sights on the dessert table. "I knew they'd have them. They always do." She snapped her finger and a server placed several plump treats on a plate. A second server delicately, but generously, drizzled a fine, cherry glaze over the chocolate soufflé. She hurried to a nearby table, leaving Shizu to fend for herself at the dessert section. "Yes, yes! You are mine, you scrumptious, chocolaty cloud." She cut into the chocolate soufflé with her fork and carved out a large portion. The moment the food touched her mouth she was in heaven. The flavors were impeccably paired. They complemented each other so nicely. The cherry glaze was sweet but tart. Again, more perfection. She wondered who had made these and how she could pay them to make this for her on a regular basis. She suspected they'd be stingy with their recipe, but nothing a little Yul couldn't solve.
She looked over at Shizu and gestured for her to eat. "You're not going to have finer cuisine anywhere else. You may as well indulge yourself while you can. Trust me, they all have." She noted while using the prongs of her fork to point out a particularly rotund noble and his generous supply of meats and breads. "Follow his example." She said with a laugh before forking more of her dessert into her mouth. "Oh, I almost forgot." She snapped her finger once more, summoning a nearby server with a tray of fine wines. "That one. Yes, that one, definitely." She exclaimed while pointing rather emphatically. She looked around the room as the server poured her wine, her eyes locking onto her family and various other nobles, and not-so-noble characters. "Pft." She uttered while sipping on her wine. "Look at them. They're so smug. So self-important. They all are." She rolled her eyes as she mumbled to herself so Shizu would not hear. "What do you think so far? Do you like the food? Oh! Get her some wine! Are you blind?" She rudely remarked to the nearby server. "Were you under the impression she would be consuming her meal without a spirit? Pour her what I am having. No, actually give her that. It will suit her more nicely." She said while squinting and smiling blissfully. "Do you know anyone here? I mean," she trailed off and laughed, "that might be a silly question. How would you. Or maybe..." She leaned toward Shizu. "Do you? Any secrets you feel like sharing about any given person?" She grinned and if Shizu had taken a sip of her wine, she would tilt the glass further as if to encourage her to imbibe more. Fine spirits make for loose lips. She thought mischievously.
Charles wasn't going to turn down a once in a life-time chance. It wasn't every day that big festivals like this were held. Heading with Suna and Hans behind him the trio of mages made their way to the place where the food stands were located. He noticed that Suna's face was red right after his comment about the games. "Well, I can guess that you're not originally a Clover citizen? There's always a first time for these kinds of things. I used to go to them a lot when I was a kid." When Suna said it was her first time in a festival like this, it raised several questions about her origin. The silver mage suspected that the blue-haired elf wasn't originally a citizen of the Clover Kingdom, despite having known her for a while. The Black Bull always felt like there was always something being kept away from him and when it came down to most of their conversations. They usually didn't have a focus on her, so it was obvious that he was unaware of her true origins. "Most games are rigged, the entire point is trick everyone to believe they can win and gain a prize. I don't blame them entirely though, gotta gain profit somehow." The Black Bull turned to see the blue flowers that Hans had won for her and said that he actually outplayed the vendor. "Hah! That was a smart move." [break][break] As they made their way to the food stands, the magnificent smell of the food surrounding him hit his nose. Taking a look around at the different varieties of food. Charles felt like he was in heaven, a different type of heaven. There was nothing better you could give someone as lazy as him than the best food around. They were multiple options so deciding was going to be a hard choice, a lot of things that were being sold looked delicious. The Black Bull would come back to reality as soon as he heard Suna ask if they wanted some sweet rolls from the vendor that was at the side of the kebabs's stall. "Hm? Yeah, sure..." After she ordered them some rolls, the silver mage took a bite from it. He knew for a fact that they smelled great, but their taste was even better than their smell. "These rolls are good... Gotta remember to buy some before I leave." [break][break] The Black Bull turned around as he heard Hans say that they should try something out. "Hm?" Making his way towards the stall the mercenary gestured. Charles ordered a kebab with chicken, lettuce and tomatoes. His eyes widened from the taste of the food. "Woah..." The silver mage carried on eating the kebab, until he eveutally finished it, of course he enjoyed it and for that very same reason he ordered another one. This time instead of chicken it was meat, he wanted to try another type of kebabs they were selling. The second one was disappointing either. Just by looking at his face one was able to tell that he was enjoying himself. Maybe the fact that he was in a festival surrounded by a lot of people made him forget for a moment the hell he had gone through. Even though he was known for being a slacker, he deserved a moment of peace. Having experienced things a lot of people of his age he wouldn't normally see. Fighting the Daemons at Kikka wasn't easy and things weren't going to get any easier from now on. [break][break] It didn't take long for Hans to give into his mercenary instincts. As he eventually found a place where they sold alcohol. Charles wasn't particularly surprised. Alcohol was something very common in the base, which he had grown used to by now, but he wasn't a fan of it either. He tried it once, but ended up just spitting it because of bitter taste of beer or the strong alcohol taste, overall the Black Bull wasn't a found of alcohol and usually ended up spitting it. "Eh... No, thanks. I don't drink." He politely declined the offer, and wondered if Suna would actually accept. Nonetheless, it was time to see if Hans was going to act start drinking like crazy, even though this wouldn't be anything new for him. Though he would definitely feel bad if the blue-haired elf ended up having to carry her drunk boyfriend at the end of the day. [break][break] "Do you two plan on going to the Royal Palace? Just wondering, I'm going to go there soon. There's someone important I'm looking for..." He looked at the two, wondering if they had plans going there. Charles heard previously that the Royal Palace was open, either way as a Magic Knight he probably wouldn't have much of an issue getting in. There was someone he hoped to find inside, after all it was someone who had trained him in a previous occasion, but now he was more willing to learn and improve. As this was a necessary step if he actually wants to accomplish something on his next possible battle. [break]
[attr="class","ardereescroll"]A small chuckle escaped Ardere's thin pale lips. His exchange of glances with his ferocious Vice Captain seemed to work--for the time being anyways. She was quite the Lioness to reel in, but fortunately it was not often that predicament arose. Months ago it could've been said the opposite was far more likely. But things had changed. The Crimson Lion Captain was stronger now, wiser than he was then. Silas' death had a profound impact, nevertheless he drew strength from the event. Strength was something the entire Kingdom needed right now. If he had to be that beacon, then so be it. These people, this kingdom...it was precious to him in more than ways the average citizen could understand. [break][break] That being said, the Lion found the pink haired woman's intentions intriguing. If she was not here for fun, then why was she here? I just got in, yeah. Seems to be turning out fairly well. Even the Wizard King is enjoying himself. Though looks like someone let him get into the expensive wine below the Palace. Looking over to observe the purple haired man, he noticed a joy that he had not seen in Jagen for many moons now. Their relationship was a unique one in the fact that his father was the current Wizard King's mentor prior to the former's passing. For many years now he had kept an eye on the former Purple Orca Captain, and today he seemed truly happy. In a time of Daemons and sieges, it's nice to relax for a bit. Perhaps we needed an event like this--some more than others. Ardere included himself in the latter group, but so few knew of the plight he faced in recent years. Tonight there was a mystery and joy in the air, something he craved for so long. The flames of these mages was being reignited and he could feel the heat. They were nothing to be gawked at, that much was certain. The Daemon should be more wary. [break][break] It's nice to meet you, Miss Liliana.
