The spirit ball had been somewhat of a success even if he had been forced to go by his elder sister at the last moment, he knew it was a family duty to rub elbows with other nobles at these sorts of affairs and though the others would be able to fob it off with a decent enough excuse he as the heir of the family could be dying of some unknown disease and would still have to turn up. Well, maybe he was being overdramatic on that part as he knew his elder sister Lydia loved and cared for him deeply but he also understood the demands and weight his position within the family held and how everyone had their place, position and job within it even if some of them had their own ideas and or were screw-ups like a few of his cousins. He had been left to his own devices while his sister had gone on some unknown mission for the Wizard King but he knew she had been at Kikka, he had no idea why he knew such information, those damn flashes he kept having were a nightmare that he couldn't and believed wouldn't be able to shake for the rest of his life, it was something he had been cursed with since he was little... something that made him be discarded by his birth family.
During that time he had found himself drawing, not pictures of fruit bowls or flowers but actually a dress design. The usual OCD neat freak self had become surrounded by balls of crumpled up paper, he knew that when yule happened in a few months he was going to be expected to attend that ball to and so if he was going to suffer from having to attend another social gathering he was going to make as many people suffer with him as possible. The issue was one of the pair he had in mind he was pretty sure didn't have a dress and he wasn't going to go out of his way and try and find one that was suitable for the ball but also fit her aesthetic. Each time he moved from his desk he would clean the mess he created just to make more until he finally designed something he thought she would like and sent it to the families seamstress with her measurements. It seemed taking on that modelling job a while back came in handy as he asked very politely if they minded giving him the woman's measurements that he had been working with and they were all too happy to do so when he explained why they were needed. It seemed as if everything else for this woman had been put on the back burner as little over two weeks later his design had been sent back to him in fabric form with the sketch. Opening the dress bag he looked it over to see if there was anything that may need changing fixed or if it had been messed up in any way, as always the woman was a perfectionist and so he zipped up the bag and hid it somewhere no one would find it until he needed it.
After Kikka had been released from the darkness his sister and his squad captain returned and life, for the most part, went on, the three area's that had been ravaged by daemon attack gaining the aid they required to get them back on their feet. It seemed, however, those who went into the darkened city came out worse for ware even if it wasn't physical the injuries were still there and seen on some level by those who knew them he would guess. He continued with his jobs for the squad, his training for himself so he could improve and serve his families needs as needed. Over that time he had almost completely forgotten about the dress until he saw the flyer on his studies desk a little reminder from his sister no doubt that he was 'requested' to attend the ball. He then wrote two letters of invitation remembering if he was suffering so were others and so sent one to Clive Kasai and one to Genesis Fantome requesting them to meet him at the Yule ball later that week before sending them out to the designated recipients before going on about his day.
On the day of the ball he started getting ready but before he did he sent went and got the dress he had designed giving it to a maid and telling her where to take it. He had no idea how he knew where this woman lived when he sent her the invitation and even now sending the dress, maid and carriage to her home he had no idea how he knew it but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth at least this time. Before the maid's departure, he gave orders that if the woman didn't know how to put it on to assist her to the best of her abilities as he knew she would be too stubborn and prideful to accept being helped physically put the thing on. With that done he went to get himself ready for the night of hell that he was about to endure because he knew some of his cousins would likely turn up so he was wondering which would gain the ire of his sister this time due to their misactions or attitudes. Before long he was ready to go just after dark and headed into his own carriage after all this was a well to do affair and the last thing he needed was to have another flash and decide to turn back so this was the safest way to make sure he got to the ball regardless of what went on.
Soon he stepped out of his carriage and onto the first step to the hall where the main ball would be happening like at the spirit ball he could hear the music instantly but he could also feel the warmth exuding from the open doors and the rich food that had been provided. He was wearing a royal blue hanfu with three layers of white on top of that with an additional layer that acted as a thin coat with a pale blue colour to it. His hair was tied back simply a small symbol of balance on his hair and at his chest between his eyes neatly painted in silver was a small symbol. Soon he would find out if the two he requested to join him would turn up, if not he could be a wallflower and just observe people he guessed.
[attr="class","florencetext"] Ah the Yule festival it was one of the biggest festivals of the year in the kingdom. It was also one of the most busy times of the year for Lydia's family and by default now her as the head of the Ravencrest family. All in all the vice captain didn't dislike the festival itself as a whole in fact she really enjoyed it. However what she did dislike the noble game that was played at these kind of events mainly at the ball itself. Which the light mage would have skipped however she was expected to show up for two reasons. The first being the fact she was the head of a main family and the second being that she was somehow named the Belle of the Spirit ball. This of course lead to a problem of its own that being she was expected to now bring someone as a date to the Yule ball. [break][break] Sure she has a "date" to the last one as well but they soon vanished shorty after they arrived at that ball which was something the Ravencrest would have to ask about sometime. Lydia of course found a simple solution to her problem and she just invited her captain as her "date" of course she didn't view him in that way as there relationship was that of captain and vice captain as well as close friends. Lydia dressed up a bit more for this event than the last one picking out a crimson red dress that reached down to the flower. The center of the dress also had black and red flower designs on it. She also had red heels on that increased her height by an inch. This time however not only did she let her hair down instead of in its normal braid she also didn't wear any gloves this time after all there shouldn't be any fighting at a place like this right? Both Ardere and her arrived at the ball together as was normal. [break][break] Stepping inside the glass mage would look around the room that was slowly starting to fill with more people she of course spotted Michail with someone else but she didn't bother looking towards him and instead would turn towards Ard to speak in a more formal manner than they usually did at least for now. So lord Kasai what did you want to do first get a drink, talk with people or perhaps give one of your famous speeches? Just please don't say dancing.

June was spiraling into her glass and it was, frankly, adorable. Her habit of overthinking things always tickled him, but usually he was able to snap her out of it fairly easily. Right now he was debating if he wanted to. Eve was flustered as well, these girls were too innocent for their own good. As if women attracted to the same sex wasn't something that existed in the Clover Kingdom. He already knew that was false. Hell some of the noble women he'd met here were that way. He could still recall bantering with Jasmine about how he was an ugly brute of a male, and she preferred 'soft women' or 'very pretty men' as she'd put it.
June's soft question caused him to glance down at her and grunt in response. "She's shown a bit of interest. But it's been primarily respect tinged with a bit of curiosity and attraction. Yours was pure attraction. Blame being so fucking cute, Flower." The blunt words were murmured back to her quietly, not wishing to send her spiraling even further into a fit of embarrassment, as adorable as it was.
Regardless, Eve at least was able to recover enough to go pattering after the other tall woman that had been examining the food before being stolen. He'd have to offer an apology to her. She was stolen partially due to his actions, after all.
"Hello, Tora. You don't need to talk so formally," he waved a hand idly, lifting the mug back to his lips with a grin. "Yer' in the presence of a commoner and a dirty foreigner after all, just be yourself." Being introduced as a Ryuutei was, ironically often worse for introductions than just using his nickname. Many people in the Kingdom still viewed them as savages that devoured the dead and rampaged across the battlefield. Few caring to learn of their culture or the truth of such matters.
Sensing June continuing to spiral, he lifted a hand and slid his fingers through her hair. Petting her head gently in a familiar sensation to help ease the tension. "Easy, Flower. For now just focus on the party." If he'd known they'd both make such a big deal out of this, he'd of waited until later to be so blunt. But, what was done was done. Things should get a bit interesting from now on if nothing else.
Then, Tora's question came. Causing him to blink once, slowly. "Summer?" He asked in clear confusion. Her accent had increased when she'd said it. So a Clover tradition, maybe? He arched a brow, glancing down at June curiously. Even with the time he'd spent here, he'd not heard of everything after all.

A horse-drawn carriage had slowly pulled up to the royal palace. The design of the carriage itself was elegant with no signs of scratches or any other damage upon it. There was also a symbol on the side of it....the mark of House Wilhelm.
The driver walked down from his seat and stepped over to the side door of the carriage. He then opened it and politely moved to the side with one hand still on the handle and the other gesturing outwards. Out came a stern-looking male with tanned skin, and broad shoulders. He then held his hand out, and slender fingers grasped upon them followed by a young woman who was radiating elegance and grace. With the help of the man, she stepped out of the carriage and gave him a warm smile. These were the current house leaders of the Noble Wilhelm family, and like many other nobles, they were invited to attend this night's annual Yule Ball.
But they weren't alone....
Begrudgingly, one more person had stepped out of the carriage with a sour look on her face, and arms crossed. It was their daughter, Fuu Wilhelm who was not here tonight as a kick-ass Green Mantis knight...but as a noble much to her annoyance.
The reluctant heiress was wearing a traditional dress of her family's. The top is a gentle green with a nice red ribbon attached to the front while the bottom half is tanned and completely clean. To complete this look is a headband atop her head with colors that compliment the dwarf's attire. Not stopping there, the girl also has on a hint of makeup, not too much, but just enough to still be noticed. Just like her mother, Fuu looked like a proper delicate lady.
She was at least able to hide the fact that she wasn't wearing any shoes from her parents, so there's that at least...
Her parents had already started to make their way to the palace but stopped once they noticed that their daughter was still back there mumbling something under her breath. "Come along, Fuu. You will catch a cold if you stay out here any longer." Her father would say just as he started to walk again. "Whatever...." the earth mage mumbled before walking forward. While her father continued to walk, Fuu's mother turned around and stood in front of her daughter, causing her to stop. "Fuu..." the mother crouched down to be on an even level with her daughter, and started to fix her dress a bit. "Mother, what are you doi-stop!" Fuu gritted her teeth and looked away embarrassingly.
"Come now, Fuu. I know you wanted to go hunting, but..." She gently placed her hands on the girl's shoulders and gave her a smile. "This festivity is very important for our family." Fuu loosened up a bit, but still appeared a bit annoyed. "You mean important for trades, and politics...." Fuu muttered. Her mother's smile lessened, but still, she attempted to keep things positive. "Just...try and have some fun, okay? But...not too much fun." The woman said before standing up. "You're going to be following in our footsteps pretty soon." she added before walking off to catch up with her husband. "Tch..." Fuu blew a strand of hair from her face and continued to walk.
Eventually, Fuu stepped into the Royal Palace, a place she was all too familiar with...and one of the buildings that she hated the most. All of this stuffiness, and uptight nobles walking about? This was the last place she wanted to be at. Quickly, the girl took notice of her parents talking with other nobles, mostly about business and such. The girl shifted her pale eyes away from them annoyingly and started to walk deeper into this damned palace.
The girl's bored eyes then fell upon a rather....towering woman(Tora ) especially for someone Fuu's height but then her attention swiftly went to the waiter holding glasses of wine. A smirk formed on the earth mage's face and she walked up to the waiter before he could leave. "A wine, please." Fuu said, trying to be a little fancy with her tone. The waiter simply looked down at the girl and chuckled a little. "I'm sorry miss, but I fear that these drinks may be a little too strong for you." The waiter said, waving his other hand dismissively. Fuu blinked a few times at how dismissive the waiter was being of her, and...started to smile sweetly.
"Oh? Is that right?" the dwarf said, innocently...but her balled up, shaking fists failed to hide her true feelings over this... "Tell me, waiter. How does your family feel about...funerals?"
Oh boy...

Cooper was delighted with news of a ball this would be the first party he would be attending with the title of magic knight behind him. This fact did not change what his preparation for the ball would be. He had spent the entire morning preparing his outfit, his coat was of an exquisite quality of black cloth in lined with a brown boar fur. A purple and pink threading went down the seems of it the collar was ironed flat and seemed to blend in with the coat seamlessly. His shirt was a of equal craftsmanship a calming off white which is neatly tucked into his black trousers which as well has purple and pink stiches in the seems. He wore what seemed to be his normal large brim hat but to those with keener eyes would notice it was in fact half an inch shorter then his normal one simply to complement his hair style which was tied up in a low hanging pony tail which was different from his normal slicked back hair. His shoes were a shining black which seemed to of been polished to the point it reflected like a mirror. Cooper had spent at least two hours looking in a mirror making sure every was in place. Of course he would make sure he was a not early but at least a little later then others to the ball he didn't want to seem too eager about it. So before the ball he decided to have a walk amongst the commoners performing simple tricks with his cards and putting on a small bit of a show as he passed by. When he felt he had waited long enough he bid the commoners a fair well and walked off to Main Hall. Cooper took a deep breath before entering and stepped in with a unwavering confidence. He grabbed the side of his coat and in one movement removed it and through it on a nearby chair. He gave off the air of a peacock trying to show off his feathers his back straight up making eye contact with as many people in the room as he could "Ladies and Gentlemen I am Cooper Ravencrest a pleasure and I hope you all have wonderful night if you wish to converse with me I will be on that table over there." he spoke as if he was the most important person in the room even if he knew he wasn't. Of course Cooper was doing this to try and gage a reaction of other in the room to get a feel of the mood and maybe a bit about there personalities as well. Cooper walked over to the drink table and began looking at the selection at hand wasn't quite sure to have it had been awhile since he attended a party of such class and couldn't think what drink would be most apparated. He placed his hand on his chin stroking his small goatee in contemplation. His eyes darted about the different bottle it was clear now he debating between the red wine or champagne. WC:519 TC:519

Eve wasn't certain what had been discussed when she was fetching who she now knew as Tora, but she at least seemed to be able to mingle now that she was here, which was a relief. Having someone taller than her was refreshing, mostly because she was used to being the center of attention despite her best efforts in public settings. It’s one of the reasons she liked dashing through the shadows most of the time, and usually avidly avoided these types of functions. Still, she was here now, and things had gotten seriously awkward in a small amount of time regarding the situation she was in with June and Satori, so things would hopefully get easier soon.
Tora Gui… an interesting name, but learning she was a foreigner was a step in the right direction, but the question that was asked also made her confused, but luckily that was addressed by Satori. She would have felt pretty stupid if everyone else understood the question while she asked what the hell it meant like a commoner. Well, she was a commoner, but that was besides the point. Now that the Amazon had joined their group, they were attracting even more attention, which was a little concerning, but nothing too big. One new guest even announced that he had arrived, moving to another table to talk with anyone who was interested, which felt a little arrogant to her, but she wasn’t going to say anything.
She looked to June for a moment… thinking about saying something, but changing her mind. Her yellow eyes simply conveyed that silent question of if the blue-silver-haired woman was accepting of those feelings now that they were out there, and more so what her overall reaction was to them. She didn’t dare ask it out loud though. “So… curious. You two are both foreigners, where are you guys from?” she asked, curious and not sure how to answer Tora’s question until further explanation was provided. Her eyes darted up to Satori for a moment, trying to read him and get some kind of closure on the confusion rampaging through her mind, but he seemed to be reveling in the situation.
Yea, real funny.
A waiter passed by with a tray of wine, and she deftly plucked one from the tray and took a large swig. She didn’t have much in the way of alcohol tolerance due to a lack of experience, but that hardly mattered at the moment. She needed something to take the edge off, and alcohol might be just the ticket. It was sweet red wine, and she found that she rather enjoyed the flavor of it, which meant that she wouldn’t have a problem getting a few of these into her system. She looked at the table with the food for a long second as well; she was almost always hungry, and this was the fancy rich-people food that she had never tried before, so curiosity was going to get the best of her sooner than later.
The ...bomb of her little joke seemed to hit pretty hard and she took another sip of her drink before adjusting her gloves for a moment, glancing back to Bengal and clearing her throat. "Ah you know, like how some nobles like ta go an have their summer home? Somethin like that. But uhhh, don't worry too much about it, sport." She assured him, taking another sip as the group attention was, briefly, diverted by the new arrivals. She of course taking the time to take a longer swig of her wine and glanced around at the trio she'd chosen to stand with. There was.... soem very serious palpable tension between the three of them. Whatever they had been talking about before this little gaggle formed, it was probably not something she wanted to get all involved in, so no point in asking what was up. She couldn't help but sigh almost silently to herself as she let her attention wonder a little as well.
She made note of the two Captains, vice and otherwise, arriving as well as the .....strange man that was making something of a big entrance for himself. She smiled and clapped politely as he walked in and then seemed to beeline for one spot in particular. And then after that.... well... she ......stood there and sipped her wine. She knew that contributing to the conversation was probably something she SHOULD be doing. Just as she probably SHOULD have recognize Lydia and Ard. But her eyes passed over them like all the other clover kingdom folks. As a boonie growing up in the woods she knew jack shit about celebrities, national or otherwise. Just another set of dressed up dudes and girls garbed to look like weird overturned tulips. The fact that she was the only woman in a suit around did somewhat cause her concern, were it not for her chest she might even be mistaken for a man... a depressing thought that garnered another slow sip from her wine glass that made it all the more frustrating trying to think of something to say. She let Bengal answer Eve's question first. And after that....well.
"No idea. Lived out in the ol Forsaken......just about all mah life. Never asked my folks about my name much. Just what I go by." She admitted, knowing it was a bit of an uninteresting answer, and an unintentional sandbagging of the subject to say the least. "So uhhhh, tha clover kingdom eh? Kinda surprised I don't see more clovers growing around, ya know? Well uh... when it's not snowin that is..." She began, offering perhaps one of the most awful displays of trying to start a conversation ever. She was always smiling and charismatic, but in an event like this? Well her nerves were getting to her, and she was hungry, her mind occassionally drifting back to her abandoned beans.

Hania had taken his time to walk up the steps and past the threshold, the moment he did he heard his cousin Copper peacocking and sighed deeply walking towards him quickly and silently the urge to slap him upside the head for making an unneeded spectacle was there but kept control of himself as he leaned in "I know you feel the need to be the centre of attention at this party but control yourself and do what normal people do and walk up to others to socialise with them don't make an announcement like that." he whispered with a serious tone still remembering what happened at the spirit ball with Michail and Typhon then there was how Lydia had reacted so would rather try and avoid another such outcome if he could help it. With his words spoken he leaned back and took a few paces away from his cousin "Remember to go give greetings to Lydia, it is rude not to after all." he reminded the other as he walked off leaving the other to mull over what he had said heading towards his pink-haired sibling a smile on his face he took note of others within the hall recognising his cousins Michael and Cooper, his sister Lydia, the heir of the Wilhelm family though he had never met her face to face and of course the walking wall in the form of Bengal.
It had been a while since the two had had their training match within the common region when he had gone to get that rare bottle of wine for his sister, something that he had yet to give her as when he had returned home she had left for the city of Kikka and by the time she had returned he decided it should be kept hidden until there was need of an 'oh shit' button of sorts when it came to fuck ups within the family because he would rather not be hit in the aftermath of someone else's mistake. He did see a few around that he didn't recognise which was strange given his memory worked so he mustn't have come across them even within text so it would be interesting to mingle with them he guessed. Still, etiquette stated to greet the head of the family first and foremost at least in his mind so he made a beeline to his sister. "Good evening Lydia, how are you?" he said his hand going to his chest as his other was slightly away from his body hand flat and towards her, it was almost as if he was showing he was not hiding anything, still had no idea why he had such an odd quirk and likely never would at least in his mind. He knew that recently the flashes and terrors had gotten worse but he had managed to hide it by not being within the estate but it was something that he wouldn't be able to hide much longer as he would be returning home after the ball.
A talk he didn't want to have was likely going to come up sooner or later but he was trying to push that off as much as possible for now. He honestly didn't know what it was or what it meant and where he could wear a mask to the world outside Lydia had raised him since he was six but he was still afraid that she wouldn't understand what he was going through and would just see him as cursed like his birth family. That was an issue for future Hania to deal with current time Hania had to at least pretend he was happy to be in a hall filled with people he'd likely rather avoid in place of a book, hell he would rather deal with daemons than be there and that was saying something because he didn't want to deal with those bastards either. "It's been a while since I've seen you." he said a smile on his face as he stood straight once more still keeping his keen senses out in the hopes to feel Clive or Genesis enter the ballroom because he didn't want to suffer this alone he very much had the mentality that if he was suffering he was making others do it too. In his mind, Clive being a relative of their captain should attend due to his connection there and Genesis, this didn't seem like her scene at all but he did want to see her in a more informal setting and at least they could be uncomfortable together.
Bengal confirmed that Eve was attracted to her and attributed to June's cuteness. That only deepened the woman's confusion on what to do about the situation. Once Bengal prodded her again and reminded her to focus on the party, the short noblewoman decided to worry about her 'relationship' with Eve later.
June finished off her glass of wine and passed it off onto the tray of a waiter passing by. Just as the petite woman acquired a fresh drink, Cooper announced his entrance and paraded around. Snickering quietly, the noblewoman took a sip of her drink, discovering that this was a much sweeter wine than her first cup. Licking her lips, she glanced around the room, taking note of a few new notable additions to the crowd.
The noblewoman resisted the urge to cringe at Tora's harsh accent. It was quite different from the smoother dialect common among nobles and wealthier commoners and more distinctive than Eve's common accent. Bengal's voice was different because of his native tongue, but it was easy on the ears.
Then, she noticed Eve eyeing the food.
"Eve, accompany me to the refreshments table. I desire hors d'oeuvres," June commanded the tall, dark skinned woman.
Without waiting for Eve to agree or deny her, the short woman rested a hand on the crook of Eve's forearm and guided her away. Once they made it to a long table lined with food that ranged from appetizers to varying courses of an elaborate meal, June relaxed her hold on the taller woman's arm.
"There's a wide array of dishes to choose from, so if it is your first time at an event like this it will prove more enjoyable for you to have a curated experience. What sorts of things do you like to eat?" the short Magic Knight asked. "I shall point out which of these will best suit your tastes. It would be a shame if you were to be overwhelmed by the number of choices and be fooled by the presentation. Not everything that is plated well tastes as delicious as it might appear."
If Eve was a probable wife, then she needed to understand how events like this worked. Even if June wouldn't entirely dismiss her as an option due to her low birth, she still had her standards. Turning Eve into a noble, or someone with high enough standing for her lack of noble blood to be overlooked meant they would have to go through the long and arduous task of teaching Eve the ins and outs of social gatherings. None of that would be possible if the tall woman was distracted.
Lessons on etiquette and navigating the social sphere of noblemen and women could be seamlessly stitched on to this impromptu introduction to food.

Bengal glanced up as he saw Ardere enter with a woman he didn't recognize, though once the name was murmured about occasionally it wasn't difficult to know her. Ardere's vice-captain, then. He'd have to eventually introduce himself, but he felt no rush. Frankly, meeting someone for the first time at a party like this felt forced, unpleasant.
Tora's accent caused him to shift his gaze toward her briefly, a hum filling his chest. He'd been the one to tell her not to bother with fake accents, it didn't bother him at all. Though he felt June flinch a bit next to him and he idly nudged her with his elbow. A gentle reminder to push aside the stereotypes that were still deeply ingrained in her, even if she was steadily resisting them. Deep habits died hard.
Tora's explanation of the summer homemade a bit more sense. "Seems like a waste of time to me... pretty content living within my own home and traveling from there," he mused, clearly understanding it was a joke but carrying on with the topic despite this. Tora seemed to fade a bit, getting quieter and he arched a brow. Answering Eve's question first.
"My clan was nomadic before I persuaded my father to stop here. We traveled most of the continent and the other Kingdoms, alot of the forsaken region was our..." he lifted fingers up, clenching them a few times to sarcastically emphasize the next word; "home". Though I hesitate to call the places we traveled a home." He chuckled dryly, before setting the now empty mug down. June was snatching Eve up, likely wanting to get a read on their new... situation. That was fine. Bengal kept an eye on the women.
People had a habit of approaching June when he wasn't around. Men specifically. It hadn't happened lately after the last one had lost his hand, but he'd rather not get riled up in the middle of a ball anyway. Tora was nervous it would seem, judging by her conversation 'starter', amused he went along with it.
"I always thought it was because the country was shaped like one, but I don't think I've ever looked at it fully on a map. Perhaps they're trying to call their own country good luck?" Amused, he would shrug and watch June and Eve... working on choices and manners. Bengal smirked, well, that was a god step one if nothing else. He'd focus on Tora for now, then. Give them a bit of room. Hopefully, no one would annoy June enough to trigger the woman again.
"How long have you been in the central lands of Clover then, Tora, if you lingered primarily in the Forsaken region up to this point" Bengal inquired curiously. There was bound to be a few reasons, but hopefully, it would egg the woman on to properly talk about herself. Hold a real conversation instead of awkwardly talking about... clover, of all things.

[attr="class","julienglassscroll"] Perhaps he shouldn’t have come. But then there was the question of why he would have denied, finding an excuse, stating that this just wasn’t his type of gathering. That he didn’t belong there to begin with. [break][break] Maybe was a noble, just barely passing the bar. The name Reinsberg was enough to cause any of the elite to look at him with disgust. All the better reason never to look up. Michail’s fake tone of friendliness was obvious enough. [break][break] "So good of you to show up. How's the fam-" [break][break] Family. [break][break] Julien knew the word. The sentence wasn’t finished, because Michail knew it too. Julien said nothing, the conversation was too conveniently turned in a different direction. But there was something else, something else that Julien dare not speak aloud that shook him beyond words. His presence darkened, almost impossibly so. Hardly anyone would have thought his cold demeanor could have become more dissonant. There was a weight in his stomach, something that almost brought him to nausea, like a crawling infection from the inside out. [break][break] Family. [break][break] Should he have been grateful that a Ravencrest of all people had the tact to avoid using that dreaded term? [break][break] “Fine.” [break][break] A simple, single monosyllabic answer. It was the only answer required of him. It answered the question, it avoided more dialogue, it didn’t tell the truth but it didn’t regale a falsehood. It was fine because, naturally, he was used to this. In a place such as this, it was easy not to stand out. [break][break] And yet, he could feel dangers drilling into him. Crimson eyes lifted only slightly, catching glimpse of silver-blue hair. That girl from before. The one that had shown grief over the death of their former Captain Crane. The Silva. Of course, a Silva had every right to look down upon the dog such as he. He was barely a noble, barely a footnote, barely a worm in a room full of raptors. [break][break] Others would make their presences known far better than he. Names he recognized, titles that gloated, houses that all head far more influence than he would ever desire to carry. [break][break] Better to keep his head down. Better to keep quiet.

Genesis Fantôme
La Poste
The day came, and the redhead was not looking forward to it. The location? The Royal Palace, which meant dressing up. And the event? A ball, which meant...here she wrinkled her nose. Dancing was not really one of her skills...not unless it meant making her blades dance. and stabbing someone. In that case, she could make them dance, all right.
Genesis sighed. She really did not see the point in showing up in public for a group gathering, and for a ball, no less. But then again, she had received an invitation from a certain individual, whom she had only known by his first name. She would have declined, but then again, who knew what kind of good food and drinks were there? There might even be a chance for her to see what nobles really are...maybe even catch a glimpse of the king himself? That would be too good of an opportunity to pass through, and this might be one of the only chances she could get to see inside the famed palace.
There was just one small problem: what was she going to wear? She had never thought she would be one to worry about what she wore...not until now. In the days leading up to the Yule Ball, she had gone through all of her clothes and came up together with...nothing. Nothing fitting for such a royal party, at least. Sure, she had clean black clothes and all, but they were definitely not fancy enough for such a gathering.
Genesis wanted to smack herself on the head for her stupidity. She really should have just declined, stating that she did not have the appropriate dress or clothes for such an official event. She should have. But it was too late to decline now. The invitation had only arrived two days prior to the actual day, and she had been busy with her other odd jobs that she did not put too much thought into. How she regretted that now.
She heard carriage wheels outside her door, and her eyebrows furrowed. What was it now? She peeked through one of her windows and saw the fancy-looking carriage, and a lady stepping down from it. Or what she presumed was a lady. What was going on? To her disbelief, the ‘lady’ tucked a package underneath her arm, came right up to her door and knocked.
The shadow mage opened the door just a crack. “Yes?” She said warily. That package was not small, and it looked rather suspicious.
“Miss Genesis? I’m coming on behalf of Mr. Hania.”
At that, she opened the door wider. “Ah, yes. Come in.” Of course. She should have expected this from a noble. It was unsettling, however, as to how he knew about where she lived. How else would he have known where to send the invitation? Spirits above, what was up with this man? How does he know so much about her?
“Here is something from him.”
Genesis took the package from her and opened it. Inside was a beautiful black dress, elegantly designed and cut. There was also a pair of sleeves that seemed separate from the dress. The whole outfit was made of various fine material, and she ran her fingers through the high-quality fabric. This was probably as expensive as one of her most cherished knives, if not more. She held it up to herself, and it looked to be about her size. Once again, the thought crossed her mind: how does he know?
“I’m here to help you get ready, miss.”
“I’m just Gen, and no need. I can dress myself.”
“Apologies, miss, but decorum. I hope you understand. And are you sure, miss?” The maid asked dubiously. “The fabric is quite delicate in some areas and would need careful handling to get into. Also, there are some clasps that are hard to reach in the back.”
Gen looked down at the dress again, noting how complicated it looked. She was not used to these types of things, but then again, this was a different type of challenge. “Let me at least get it on me.” Then proceeded to change right in the living room. Of course, the front door was closed and the carriage driver was waiting outside, so she felt no shame stripping down in front of a maid. Besides, those servants to nobility, especially those for wardrobe, must have seen their masters and mistresses in their barest times.
As she wiggled her way into the dress, she was surprised to see how well it fit her. The sender must be some sort of magician, or perhaps he was some fortune-teller? Otherwise how would he know these details about her? But upon seeing how the redhead was baffled as to what went where, the maid only smiled knowingly and proceeded to help her. With the dress adjusted, Gen then slipped on the sleeves, and the outfit was complete.
“Merci.” She said, thanking the maid. If it was not for the woman, who knew how much time and frustration it would have been for this clueless commoner? She felt almost...refined. But who was she kidding? She was just a normal citizen playing dress up. At least, that was what she kept telling herself. By the time they stepped into the carriage, the sun had set, and they were off.
As they arrived at the entrance of the Royal Palace, Genesis could not help but gawk. Sure, she had been to the Capital before, but actually standing at the steps of the palace? That was something new. Riding in the carriage was also a novelty, and she wondered how lavish the nobles’ lifestyles must be like. She and the maid stepped out of the carriage.
“This way, miss.” The maid was motioning her towards the front steps. The redhead nodded and followed her directions. As they got to the front doors, she could see the intimidating guard that stood all around, guarding the way to the main hall. Thankfully, her companion spoke up for her. “Special guest invited by Hania Ravencrest.”
Tora blinked for a moment as the little ladies promptly absconded from the group, her brows raising slightly before her attention turned to the man. Well, back to the awkward she supposed... and her with her wine soon running out at that. She took the final sip and set it on a tray of empty glasses before her attention shifted back to Bengal. "Ah, Ifn' ye figure that I guess ya probably wouldn't want a winter home neither. But I guess when yer a certain kind of wealthy ya have places to go so ya never have to stick around the weather ya don't like." She surmised thoughtfully, drumming her fingers along her belt for a moment before giving a bit of a humorous chuckle. "Always lived in my home, we didn't really move much. Truth be told I don't even know the area well enough to tell ya where it was we set up. Jus lived near a small town, but our home was off in the thick of it. Nothin but the quiet of the forest and the family...." Her voice grew a bit distant as she closed her eyes and thought back to it.
She watched his gaze follow the women almost possessively. Was one of them with him? She supposed it made sense, even if he wasn't quite that much a strappin lad, he was still up there so far as clover folk went. "We had some clover that grew close to where ah lived. Mom used ta always put it in our meals, even though I'd swear to ya it didn't ave any taste." She smirked a bit at that, before she felt her stomach gurgle just a bit, glancing down at herself before chuckling shamelessly. "Sorry sport, I think I need to grab me a bit o chew. I'll be back, ye?" She grinned, patting the man heartily on the shoulder before the promptly turned and beelined for one of the ...er....other serving tables. She gave Eve and ......the other one. Shit, what was her name? She knew it was a silva, but ...damn of all the people whose name she forgot.... She'd have to keep an ear out for it again later...
She sighed, a little stressed as she looked around the food, looking for another bowl of those beans. However she paused when she realized she was near one of the other parties. Ah, the two.....near the ....yea they came down the stairs or something? She wasn't really paying much attention. but she noticed the nearest one was that fancy lady. Hm, fancy lady in a fancy dress. Bit of a shame, with the way she was standing, she figured whoever she was, she culd probably rock a suit. Collecting a plate of cheese and meat, well.... a ..... dish? It was one of those tiny tiny things. Anyway, with a bit of food, she took a bite, chewed, and then grinned at the woman, giving the woman a cheek click and a wink in greeting. "Tops off to ya Miss, lookin grand." She acknowledged the woman. Perhaps taking Bengal's advice to loosen up a bit too far, but she was near food, she was using most of her brain capacity on putting a couple tasty-looking things on her little mini plate.

[attr="class","header"]Yule Time Celebration
[break] It would seem time had flown since she had taken over the captaincy of the Blue Roses but then she had taken a lot more than just her squad under her wing but the aid and rebuilding of Raque also. It had been an arduous task, to say the least, and it seemed as if there was no end in sight but she was also making preparations to make sure what happened to the town wouldn't happen again so easily. That was her role as captain right? If she was to be honest with herself although she wore the air of confidence around her but she still doubted herself as she never expected to be promoted to a vice-captain let alone a captain as she had no real drive for the role of authority, she had enough of that within her own family and merely wanted to serve the kingdom and people as best as she could the way she had been raised and taught by her mothers. Still, she now found herself in such a position and so would do everything in her power to live up to the rank she now wore and be the beacon of hope for those who had none especially within Raque. One thing she had noticed over the time she had been in her position was that people's faith within the knights had been shaken, she couldn't blame them, the people of Raque had lost everything within the flood and rebuilding had been slow but that would come back in time, what couldn't be the lives that were lost and so she had personally paid for a memorial garden to be added for those who lost their lives. It wasn't much and it would be a painful memory to all within Raque be it, magic knight or civilian, they had all lost something and so should mourn together. [break][break] For the most part, it had helped as the civilians could see magic knights of all different squads mourning loved ones that had been in the town at the time, Alyssa had lost her own mothers so spend quite a bit of time there herself. A lot of the issue she came to find was that in the time of need the captain wasn't anywhere to be found and the vice-captain was fighting in the royal capital. This was just a big headache in all honesty but she got it and so invested a great deal in a relic that had spatial magic with communication on it so no matter what she would be there when Raque needed her the most, she wouldn't allow her squad to fail the town again. Over the last few months, however, things seemed to have settled especially after the spirit ball and Kikka being freed from the dark tyranny of Sven and his children but she heard of the dis-rest there which she understood given how things were in Raque but they hadn't lived in darkness for over two months, unlike Kikka. Raque also had nobles helping give refugees albeit in some cases begrudgingly rooms and places to stay while the town got back into normal living conditions which was a godsend in her mind, it also showed people that they were in it together which was perfect given the season of yule had been fast approaching. [break][break] Building had stopped for winter as it would be too hard to work in the frigid cold weather and the once begrudging nobles put their annoyance to the side knowing that it was the season of giving especially to the less fortunate even throwing them banquets where they could enjoy good food, wine and entertainment to forget about everything that had happened even if it was just for a short time. This time the Blue Rose captain hadn't even asked which warmed her heart. She had planned on attending the one she was throwing at her own home for those she had given refuge though given the size of her estate she had taken in larger families and orphans allowing them free use of the house with the only rules being they respect it and don't go into places the servants tell them they aren't allowed to go. She would be lenient only once if the latter was broken by a family as there were some things that were sensitive and she rather not have things be damaged or seen that shouldn't be which the parents understood and said they would be mindful they and the servants of the house took on the responsibilities of being parents to the orphans which was heartwarming to see. Which they had been much to her thankfulness. She had brought all the children staying within her home several presents and the parents also got a gift each, it had been a hard year after all. She had even given the parents a good amount of money to buy their own children gifts and though many refused she reminded them she was also helping her and her staff to look after children not their own and that deserved some sort of compensation as she understood just how taxing it could be, they eventually agreed and all was well. [break][break] It wasn't until one of the maids came in and reminded her of the yule ball that was going to be happening that evening that she remembered it, there had been so much going on and in honestly, she didn't feel like going but being the head of a family meant one thing it was expected. Nodding she move into her bedroom to see which dress she should wear a small smile on her face as she realised that it would be nice to finally catch up with Lydia once more as she hadn't seen her friend since the spirit ball, she was quite the social butterfly if not an angry bee for almost bringing down the hall due to her dull witted relatives saying something that they likely shouldn't have. She started to get dressed only to be reminded to hurry by the elder made making her roll her eyes just a bit like she had when she was younger, this made had been her nanny when she was young and so trusted and loved her like a third mother even if she could be a bit demanding. Soon however she walked out from behind the screen wearing a white dress with a midnight blue overlay making it seem like a two-part outfit the blue part had a golden hem and a simple yet elegant pattern with it but no sooner than she was ready that she was being escorted to her carriage and off to the ball she went. [break][break] It wouldn't take long an hour or so given the mode of transportation where she got her hair ready by merely putting it into an elegant bun with gold, white and royal blue ribbons so it would match her dress. By the time she got there, it would seem as if the ball was in full swing but then she heard a name being spoken to the guards "I will take the young lady to her escort." she said watching as the guards saluted her as magic knights did "Yes ma'am." they said in unison she moved to smile at Genesis "If you come with me I'll help you find Hania." she said starting to walk up the steps as if she had not a care in the world.
[attr="class","florencetext"] It seemed the ball was finally coming to life as more and more people started to show. There was of course more than a few eyes on Lydia give her standing and everything that happened at the last ball both good and bad. Ideally this time the head of the family wouldn't have to keep the other Ravencrest in check but of course there was always one of them that had to make a big deal about there arrival. Lydia was about to step in and say something however it seemed Hania was already taking care of the problem which helped the glass mage have more time to relax and enjoy the ball. It seemed some people wanted to talk with her captain about things which was to be expected so Lydia simply relocated herself to closer to the food not that she planned on eating any herself at the moment. She kept her eyes looking around the room for the most part seeing if there way anyone there that she knew but so far it didn't seem like she had much like. However she did spot a mountain of a women who seemed to be nervous perhaps it was her first time at a gathering such as this one. [break][break] One of the servants would walk buy with a tray of wine which Lydia of course grabbed a glass of hoping it tasted at least better than the last ball's. Luckily as she took a sip of the wine it seemed that it in fact was. It was then her younger brother would show up to greet her. I'm going as well as one can be at noble gathering such as this one but tell me my dear brother what made you show up? As Lydia was waiting for Hania to answer she was able to sense the mana of Alyssa however there was someone else with her who's mana she'd never saw before but then again she was far from knowing everyone in the kingdoms mana. She knew that Alyssa would make her way over to Lydia if the other women wished to speak with her. Lydia was however caught of guard for a moment as the women from early made her way over to the vice captain and flirted with her. The pink haired mage would let out a small laugh before looking over the other women. Thank you, that was quite the bold greeting most people are scared to approach me because of my status. I do enjoy bold people and I must say you pull off the suit amazingly. The vice captain would then take another sip of her wine before speaking again. Oh I should introduced myself I'm Lydia Ravencrest. I do hope you've found the ball enjoyable for the most part and if you don't mind me asking what's your name lovely?
