[attr=class, cyrustext]Cyrus listened as Athena said she would call him as requested, so long as he agreed to do the same and drop the "lady" from her name. To this he smiled, chuckling a bit. "Wasn't really a matter of nobility, but fair enough. Athena it is! And a fair name it certainly is." He assured her as they headed into the next room.
Sol took care of the swimming beast as requested, through a impressive display of coordination between his two golems. Athena confirmed to the two that she was fine after the attack she received, just a little dizzy, before leading them into what was likely the final chamber of the dungeon.
[F2R4 WC: 997]
The walk to the final area of the tower did not take overly long, and the first hint that they were nearing their destination was the sound of two vicious beasts roaring back and forth at one another. The party approached the sources of the noises and discovered a pair of massive mana beasts in the middle of a fight. Hama whistled, clearly impressed by the gargantuan beasts' struggle, while Cyrus' eyes widened and a large smile broke across his face. "These are.... yes, that's a Joatl! And a Juvasaur! I recognize the tail and skull structure from my history books and museums. These two were both apex predators of their times; masters of the land and sky!"
While the two seemed like they would be evenly matched, the Juvasaur must have gotten a lucky shot in at one point that tipped the scales in its favor, as it currently had the winged mana beast pinned while attempting to finish off its adversary.
Athena was the first to act, telling the two of them to assist the Joatl while she dealt with the Juvasaur. The request surprised him, but he had no issue fulfilling it; Cyrus knew from experience that even the fiercest of mana beasts could sometimes be pacified to an extent. And so he simply nodded. "Got it, leave it to me!" He assured the girl, watching as she used her magic bow to attack and steal the attention of the Juvasaur from its original target.
Once she was dealing with the beast Cyrus approached the Joatl, ordering his Attar golem to stand by in case it was needed. The winged creature saw the humans and spirit approaching and attempted to roll over onto its front, struggling a bit from the damage done to its leg and wing when pinned by the land predator. It lunged at Cyrus, its massive fangs heading straight for him, but Cyrus held his arm out in front of him. The beast chomped down on the limb... but thanks to Athena's defensive magic, it was unable to so much as dent his flesh.
Cyrus then surprised the creature by reaching up with his other hand and lightly patting its nose, as if telling it he didn't mind the attempt on his life. "You've got a lot of fight left in you, don't you." He said, almost like he was talking to a dog. The Joatl may have been a supposedly extinct flying reptile, but he found it far less threatening than the Chasm Crawlers of Atlantis. His hand moved from the beast's snout to under its chin, and slowly it released his arm, which he removed at a similar pace so as not to startle it.
Hama shook her head. "Didn't Zarya say something about you trying to shake hands with a dragon at some point?" She asked in a teasing tone. Cyrus chuckled but made no comment, remembering the joke as well. Instead he readied his grimoire as he slowly moved away from the Joatl's head, examining the damage to its leg and wing.
"You might have trouble flying like this... just wait a moment, friend. All will be well." He urged his patient, as a warm glow emitted from his grimoire. A mass of sap emerged from the pages and split, one part covering the gash on the monster's leg while the other enveloped the tears of its wing. The beast understandably began to thrash a bit at the unfamiliar substance covering it, but its efforts to resist came to a stop as it realized the pain was slowly going away.
Athena returned from her bout with the Juvasaur, asking how the mana beast was doing now. Cyrus looked over at her, and then at the creature she had been fighting. Though he had been focused on caring for the Joatl, he could tell that she had a fair grasp on golem commanding as well by the shape of the beast's corpse.
Cyrus smiled. "The Joatl will survive. Its leg and wing were damaged in the fight with the Juvasaur, but my healing spell will see to that in short order." He assured the girl. The beast itself looked at her curiously, before turning to look at the decapitated body of its would-be killer. Certainly, it could tell that these little creatures were not to be trifled with.
After a few minutes, Cyrus released Mother's Sweet Embrace, causing the sap to dissolve into nothing. He beckoned for the others to stand back and give the Joatl some room as it attempted to stand once again, this time succeeding after a moment. It gave its large wings an experimental flap, testing their condition, and seemed satisfied as it turned to face the humans. One by one it sniffed them, starting with Cyrus, then Sol and Athena. Cyrus smiled at its curiosity and lack of hostility. "I am glad to see you better, friend." He told the creature, once more patting it on the nose.
A thought occurred to Cyrus as he considered the creature's likely method of hunting, and he looked to the other two. "Do you both have a way to get back from here? I would be happy to provide you with a ride home, or wherever it is you aim to go after we leave."
As he asked this of the other two, the Joatl began to flap its wings again, this time actually achieving lift as it rose into the air. It let out a low rumble, possibly in an effort to communicate something, before flying out of the room to wherever its nest was. Cyrus was sorely tempted to follow it out of scholarly curiosity, but found his eyes drawn to a sizable horde of treasure behind where the creature had been. He was fairly certain that it hadn't been there moments ago, but then again this was a dungeon; the sudden appearance of loot was more likely than things making logical sense, usually.

Magic Knight's Mantle
Scorpion's Eclipse
Spells Used
Attar sustained
Name of Spell: Mother's Sweet Embrace
Elemental Type: Sap
Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Defense/Healing
Range & Speed: 150m | 75m/s
Mana Cost: 50 | 25
Stats Effected: +12 Durability
Applicable Perks: Archangel's Blessing, Healing Specialist, Self Repairing, Final Stand
Description: On casting this spell, Cyrus creates a large mass of sap that travels towards its target at high speed. Once making contact, the spell takes the shape of a shining liquid cape draped across the target's shoulders, as if the sap is wrapping them in a soothing hug. This spell is able heal the wearer for Grand level damage for either health or mana skin, as well as protect them from the equivalent of x2 Grand level spells, and the cape can be given to someone else to wear if the person using it or Cyrus so desires. The sap that makes up its form will shift to protect the person wearing it, forming a protective barrier or shield. This spell can also cleanse its target of hexes and curses as per the stat rules, and can heal injuries as sever as missing digits in a single post, smaller non-vital organs in two, and limbs and more essential organs in three. If used within three posts after someone's death, this spell can even revive someone who has died (though not the user, and only once per thread).
Thanks to Archangel's Blessing, this spell maintains its original potency when applied to multiple people. And when worn by somebody besides Cyrus, it can also increase their mana regen rate by 20 per post. With Self Repairing the spell can regenerate its durability back to full up to three times, so long as it was not completely destroyed (only one Defense spell per post can do this), and with Final Stand Cyrus is able to increase a single Defense spell's Durability by +20 twice a thread for a single post. Wearing this cape also increases the person's Durability stat by +12. Multiple instances of this spell are possible should Cyrus possess enough Control himself.
