Verena's expectations of the hunter had... changed a little. For better or for worse was another matter entirely. However, she hoped that she was able to demonstrate to him that she was at least a somewhat capable hunter. For all the strength that she had managed to obtain, the brunette was still only an okay hunter. It was clearly not her strongest skill, but it was obvious she had at least a bare minimum knowledge to be able to hunt with some degree of proficiency.[break][break]
However, it went without question that she was overjoyed at the prospect of being able to learn a new element type -- especially something as rare as Light magic. Verena knew that Lydia Ravencrest possessed such magic. Most likely the woman would be a far superior teacher than this young man as well -- she was one of the strongest mages in the entire Kingdom -- arguably, in the entire world, after all. She possessed wisdom, experience, and as the Vice-Captain of a Magic Knight squad, was most certainly a capable teacher. In fact, her dear friend also trained under Lydia, and given how strong her friend had supposedly become in seemingly no time at all, it went without saying that the head of the Ravencrest family was likely an astounding teacher.[break][break]
...But that therein lied the issue. Lydia embodied strength. Excellence. Discipline. Perfection. Suna might have been able to rise to meet those expectations, but Verena did not believe that she herself could. Of course, she would never say that. She knew that the moment she did and Lydia somehow got word, then she would certainly be treated as such.[break][break]
The redhead that she had accompanied the dungeon with was most likely lost on what to expect. Everyone was. Why would anyone ever really come prepared on teaching someone else how to use their magic, after all? He might have agreed to it, but Verena had told him not to worry about what to do until after the hag's life had been extinguished. Of course, that had been finished some time ago, and the two found themselves on the outskirts of the Rogue's Refuge, a comfortable distance away from where they had exited the Cursed Forest.[break][break]
The moon hung overhead, the sole source of light. Verena's vision was decent enough due to her years of traveling and living in the forest, but of course one could never really do without enough light sources especially when training. Admittedly, it was this type of atmosphere she wished to have had when training with Hans, but... unfortunately, the Nightfall Swordsman had to leave just as they were getting started. It seemed urgent, and so Verena never questioned it, even if she felt immense disappointment. She was so close...[break][break]
Verena's white coat was dirtied a little, though there was a brook nearby. Moving over to the brook, she silently motioned for the hunter to follow. If she was able to see at night, a far more experienced hunter than she was was most definitely capable of such a feat as well.[break][break]
"Let's see..." she said as she began unbuttoning her coat. "I confess, I dislike removing my coat in any level of public detail, even with an audience of one. But as this is the only coat I own like this, I must keep it clean and take care of the moment I have reason to believe something is might be damaged..."[break][break]
"Would you be so kind as to use your magic to illuminate the area?" she asked.[break][break]
Before Echo could protest, if he was at all, Verena interrupted. "This is still part of teaching as far as I'm concerned. Mana is at its most 'vocal', for lack of a better term, when it's in use. For me, using any amount of mana in any amount of way is just as valuable as explaining how your spells work."[break][break]
Though it Echo was the one who was 'teaching', it was obvious that Verena was an incredibly well-educated individual; this went beyond just having a 'noble's education'. She was borderline obsessed with knowledge based on how she was carrying herself right now.[break][break]
"Apologies, I'm about to go on a bit of a lecture here. It'll be beneficial for both of us though, so I hope you don't mind," she said, smiling up at the youth.[break][break]
Her smile was sincere; genuine. It exuded gentleness and gratefulness. She enjoyed being able to have moments like these. However, it was brief, as she put her coat into the river, holding onto it as she let the water soak it a bit.[break][break]
"Summoners are able to learn new elements by being able to 'befriend' mana. Mana might not be sapient like you and me, but it still possesses a level of sentience. That is why the grimoire selection ceremony occurs in the manner it does, after all. That sentience becomes an imitation of some kind of its user after a while. "[break][break]
"I can feel that in a person's mana. So I can tell what it enjoys doing and how it enjoys being used. My mana is then used to 'summon' that element, shape it, and mold it in a form that allows the mana to be used how it wishes. Mana doesn't care for the form; only that it gets used."[break][break]
Verena took a deep breath, closing her eyes. Flipping the coat over so that the water in the brook could catch the other side as well and try to rinse some of the dirt off, the brunette took a moment to focus on this. There was no point in trying to rush it. She did want to clean off her coat.[break][break]
"In other words, there are two ways we can do this. You can demonstrate your magic and spells to me, and I'll simply observe. I am a visual learner after all. Or..." a pause.[break][break]
She never liked this option in truth.[break][break]
"We could have a simple spar."[break][break]
Verena did not know what his story was. It was not her place to ask. If he wanted to tell her, he would. But she could tell that he was working through something. Some very powerful emotions. Those emotions weren't on full display then, but she could tell that the young hunter just didn't have a reason to let those emotions run rampant.[break][break]
What was it she once heard again? Fighting often allowed a person to work their feelings out? It sounded impossible, but she was willing to give it a shot. After all, she knew a thing or two about powerful negative emotions.

It was over, it was finally over. Echo was relieved that him and Verena were able to get out of the dungeon alive. He didn’t really want to admit it but he needed her help, and the fact she had given her aid had to be repaid somehow. It was custom that a noble should give a token of gratitude or appreciation when helped in such a big way. There would be a screaming majority who would say one’s life is priceless, so Echo basically owed her big time. The noble hunter had not much to his own name as far as money or valuables. However after learning of the young lady’s magic in the dungeon he already had an idea of what she would want. She would want Echo to teach her how to use light magic, a magic belonging only to a few with the 4 leaf grimoire. Learning how to properly use his magic in the way that he does took Echo a lot of time, so how long the young lady would think it would take is unknown. But after seeing her magic Echo believed that maybe it somehow gave her the ability to learn at an enhanced rate, but only time would tell.
When the rag tag duo would exit the dungeon the mall still hung overhead, and they found themselves not too far from the outskirts of the Rouge’s Refuge. *The Refuge isn’t far off, so I guess I don’t have to keep too low of a profile out here. But being out in the open like this still leaves me weary a bit.* he thought to himself as he looked over his surroundings. It would appear that even a girl such as Verena had eyes capable of seeing clearly without sufficient light. Echo had eyes almost like a hawk, seeing clearly in almost any environment at any time of day, due to many years of training and studying to be a hunter. She managed to find a brook nearby and would walk over and prompted Echo to follow with a gesture. The boy followed deciding not to skip out on her using the cover of the night. The choice to not leave was more than likely based off the fact that after their “experience” together Echo had found himself rather attracted to the girl. This attraction was not merely in her beauty, it was probably hardly about how she looked. Echo found the girl to be very capable as a mage something that he valued in a woman, due to it relating to her level of “power”.
As the two walked over to the brook the young lady would begin to unbutton her coat while speaking at the same time. She would say how she disliked getting undressed for an audience even if it was only one person, however she found the maintenance of her coat of the top priority. She then asked Echo if he could use his magic to light up the area, to which he was about to protest but she would quickly stop him by going on a slight rant. She would tell him to consider it as part of the teaching, as she was a visual learner. Echo would sigh as he would create a small orb of light that shined way brighter than any normal torch or lantern. It would light up the area surrounding the brook wonderfully, and Echo would be sure to not make it to bright or else they could be seen and snuck up on by anyone. So Verena would begin to take off her jacket and begin to wash it in the brook. As she washed the jacket she would tell Echo she was about to go on a bit of a lecture and he would immediately slam his hand into his face.
“Oh boy here we go..” He would say with a face of slight discontent, he would however put up with it because it was Verena. The woman would then begin to lay out the details of how her magic worked, how she basically befriend the very mana. The things she was explaining seemed very complex and complicated even for a teen of noble education. So in the long run Echo would shrug off all she said until she got to the important part, the actual how he was supposed to teach her part. The woman would flip the coat in the water before she would get down to the meat of the conversation. She would say that Echo could simply do spells and she would watch and observe, this was somehow supposed to give her a feel for the element and allow her to use it. The second option came after a brief pause as she said that the two could have a sparring match. Echo smiled from amusement before saying “You are funny Verena, but no way in hell I’m fighting a girl like you. You are capable I give you that but I know for a fact the power you have is nothing compared to mine! From what I understand and hear that magic you got is just a cheap form of imitation. But you know what I’ll humor you babe, only because I like you though.”
Echo words would drag off as he ended his speech and would then walk up to Verena. He would stoop down so as to be on the same level as her washing her Jacket in the brook. He looked her in her eyes, making deep eye contact just as their first time meeting in the cursed forest. “We can spar, we will play a game called hangman tag. You get 5 points, every time someone lands a hit on you you lose a point. At 0 points you lose… oh but if I win I have a special request.” The hunter would stand back up and take a few steps back from Verena and say “If I win we shall have a proper date at my family estate. So you still interested?” He would say as he pitched forth such a wild idea at a wild time.

Verena had spent far too much time being afraid of people to not pick up on body language. As they were leaving, she noticed that the redhead seemed to tense up a little. Not enough for her to express worry, but still enough to get her wondering. Whatever it was wasn't any of her business though, so it was perhaps best to let sleeping dogs lie, even after they had arrived at the brook.[break][break]
Verena never considered her audience when she spoke; she was so used to speaking to the likes of Satori, Hans, or Suna, and had no real understanding of how to interact with anyone who was younger than her. The age gap wasn't too much, but it was likely large enough for both of them at very different places mentally, at least, one might have been able to argue that if it wasn't for the fact that it really just boiled down to the brunette being a bookworm who couldn't stop learning about magic. Or rather, reading in entirely.[break][break]
Verena's brow raised, however, when Echo mused about her power being a cheap form of imitation. About her power being inferior to his. "Ah..." Verena began to say, slowly standing up to her feet and dusting off her dress, making sure that no dirt had ended up on that, either.[break][break]
"Your sensory is lower than my own, isn't it?" she inquired. "Ah... that's quite unfortunate. There's a technique employed in the east that has a few notable practitioners here, such as Satori Ryuutei and Ardere Kasai. I suggest looking into it. 'Ki'. It may save your life one day," she politely responded to the noble.[break][break]
Verena brushed her hair past her shoulder, making sure to get it out of the way as she thought about it. "That's an interesting proposal. Your light magic lets your spells move at speeds that give you a very distinct advantage versus others, making it difficult to handle... and of course, you're much faster than I am..." she began to say, placing a hand under her chin as she took a moment to seemingly ponder her next course of action.[break][break]
Of course, it went without saying this was all a ruse. If at any moment he reached for his grimoire or moved to nock his arrow from his quiver, Verena cast her Carbon Magic: Survival Instincts. However, if he wasn't taking the pre-emptive move, Verena began to ponder this just a bit.[break][break]
Verena was not thinking of how to embarrass the boy though. He was young and still very inexperienced. If he kept up this attitude, he would die an early death and that would be a waste of his potential. He did need to be humbled, however. She did not endure everything she had up unto this point to be thought of as weak, or her magic 'a cheap form of imitation'.[break][break]
No, Verena was instead focused on what she could do to help him without damaging his ego (of course, not so focused where her guard would be lowered in case of any surprise attacks). Mentally reviewing their dungeon run, Verena took into consideration where he was weakest. "Well, I'm no Chisana Shengxaio, but..." she began to say.[break][break]
Six. Twelve. Eighteen.[break][break]
"You'll have to forgive the sloppy work," Verena began to say as various bodies began filling in quick succession, all appearing around Verena. Six large earth golems. six slightly smaller (compared to the earth golems) cloth golems. Six quadripedal, albeit phasing in and out of the world. Only the latter was non-bipedal. The earth golems all possessed stone edges sticking out like miniature mountains on their four-meter tall bodies, arms, and legs with a massive hammer-like protrusion adorned over their head.[break][break]
The cloth golem possessed no head but it did possess an arm that was just as tall as it was, reaching to the ground. It was bundled tightly together. The fabric used to make them was an eerie green everything about them gave the impression of 'unnatural'. It was clearly the form of a human and did possess some human-like traits in its anatomy aside from the missing head and massive arm. Yet it was as if the cloth represented the internal organs with how it appeared of the body, all pulled inside out.[break][break]
The sound golems seemed quite unstable as if they could disappear at any moment. Three bust-like statues that seemed too big for the body rested on top of this quadripedal body. Each one seemed to possess a mouth-like piece as well somewhere on them. These seemed the least intimidating, at least.[break][break]
She wanted to keep her options available in any surprise attacks to be able to use Survival Instincts. It wouldn't do her any well to get hit so quickly on after all. Not when she had so much to teach this youth...[break][break]
...ah, maybe she was a little upset.
The golems were poised in a specific formation near her. Her sound golems were poised to be right beside her with her earth golems encircling the seven of them. Her cloth golems were poised to be placed in front of her, facing Echo in a slightly enclosed manner on him in an attempt to cut off his possible areas of attack as well as means to infiltrate her formation.
"It's embarrassing, but these golems were made when I was still very, very inexperienced. Fortunately, they're about the level of the enemies we encountered in that dungeon. Now then..." Verena asked as her gaze was firmly on the noble. Yet her expression was soft, a gentle smile adorned on her expression.[break][break]
Spell Element: Earth[break]Spell Rank: Junior[break]Mana Cost: 10 | 5[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Utilizing earthern mana, Verena constructs a bipedal golem made up of various types of rocks and stone. Various rocks protrude from it's forearms, knees, and from the back of it's head down it's back, akin to spikes... but if spikes were blunt, like incredibly small hills, no larger than a full grown man's leg, though each of these tend to differ in size. These rocks are placed over thicker and more durable rocks that function akin to an armor plating, but don't offer any defense beyond the normal body itself.[break][break]A golem created via Gaia's Blessing's head is stretched out just a bit, giving it's forehead the impression of a hammer due to the bluntness in which it appears. Though it possess' decent strength as a result of it's size and build, the more devastating thing it can do is headbutts. Of course, it is still a Junior ranked golem, so it is incapable of dealing any truly devastating damage. These golems will usually stay near Verena, and rarely leave her side. She often uses them to ride upon.[break][break]Verena is able to create one (1) golem per ten (10) control she has at once, maxing out at five. Due to Summoner, she gets an Earth affinity bonus (+1 Durability), in addition to her Puppet Master and Reinforced Golems perk.
Spell Element: Sound[break]Spell Rank: Junior[break]Mana Cost: 10 | 5[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Unlike Verena's previous golems, Song of the Muses is not quite humanoid in appearance. It possesses three heads on a body that is on all fours, akin to a dog in that sense. The body seems to be constantly in a state of flux, a result of a seemingly unstable summon. In truth, this is just because Verena does not quite yet have a true mastery of the element, making it ill suited for combat at this point in time. Each head resembles the bust of a human statue superimposed on a four legged animal. The body itself lacks a tail, and if it was to stand on its rear legs, it would reach the maximum height for a balanced golem at this current level.[break][break]Because this golem is still in a state of 'instability', it is ill-suited for combat, something Verena is already aware of. To counter this flaw, each head of Song of the Muses is capable of producing a single pitch, unique to each head. The head on the left can emit a sound that is solely capable of being measured at 493.88 hz, the one in the middle is capable of emitting a sound solely measured at 698.46 hz, and the head on the right is capable of emitting a sound that measures at 830.61 hz. These sounds effectively do nothing but are rather obnoxious if you happen to hear them. They're loud enough to be heard equal to the maximum range at this rank (twenty meters), however.[break][break]Song of the Muses is ill suited for combat, but if absolutely necessary, it can use the three heads to headbutt. However, that's the only real offensive aspect it has. Verena is capable of spawning more of them for every ten control she has, maxing out at five total. The true utility of this golem lies in coordination with others, diversionary tactics, and alerting others. It's closer to a Scout golem in that sense, but without any of the benefits that come with such.
Spell Element: Cloth[break]Spell Rank: Junior[break]Mana Cost: 10 | 5[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Arachne's Heartache takes the form of a many layered bipedal creature wrapped in various layers of cloth. Due to its nature as a Guardian Golem, it is four meters in size, with one arm large enough to carry a person in the palm of its hand--specifically, its right arm. The golem is incapable of moving faster than three meters per second when transporting a person. The fabric itself semes to be folded alongside a variety of other fabric, though the main color seems to be various shades of brown. On the left part of its chest, one red patchwork is visible in a circular shape, albeit rough. The golem lacks a clear head despite being bipedal, instead just containing arms and legs.[break][break]The golems left hand is what it uses for attacking as well as defending due to it's massive prportion, easily being roughly the size of its body. This arm is especially bundled tightly together, and a variety of cloth has been seemingly stitched in red fabric across the golem's entire arm, giving the impression this arm was sewed on.[break][break]This same arm serves as its primary form of attack and defense--that is to say, it shields whomever it is transporting in its right hand with its left. Due to the many layers of cloth all interwined so tightly together, it can cause blunt damage to whatever it hits with it, while also having a three meter reach. When using the arm in a sweeping like motion, it can cause knockback damage to occur, starting at 2 meters but increasing by an additional 5 meters for every 10 [POW] it has.[break][break]The golem's lower body is designed to support the massive left arm, but as a result it has poor mobility, befitting of a Guardian golem.[break]
Elemental Type: Carbon Matter[break]Rank & Spell Type: Senior, Defense Creation & Restraining[break]Range & Speed: 80 m, 40 m/s[break]Mana Cost: 30 (cast) 15 (sustain)[break]Stats Effected: +6 DUR, -20 Mana Regen[break]Applicable Perks: Hazardous Shields, Juggernaut, Mana Prison, Sapping Bonds[break]Description: Upon usage, Verena creates a wall that is 2x4x5 (length x width x height) made of pure carbon and as such is akin to a jet black in color. The wall appears as though it's constantly moving around, and this is in part due to [Juggernaut], as it is capable of, with limited usages, of strengthening itself in what would otherwise tear right through, or damage it to render that damage obsolete. If someone tries to attack the wall, the carbon will react and will spike out, damaging whoever is attacking it equal to [Intermediate] damage thanks to [Hazardous Shield]. In addition, the wall is capable of shooting out a solid "chain" of carbon though, plus one additional chain for every 50 [CON] she has. These chains function in accordance to clashing rules, and cause strain on a person's ability to regenerate their mana, depleting it by 20 (though if their mana regenerative ability is lower, then it will be reduced to 1). If they catch a person, their ability to cast spells is reduced by fifty percent of what would be their normal casting limit. In addition, if they manage to bind someone, their mana will be sapped by ten, giving Verena half of what is drained.

After Echo pitched his question to the young girl it would seem as if she was slightly hesitant to accept his deal, especially after the young man made a piss poor choice of insulting her. Sadly this was his way of flirting and showing any type of interest, as that was the type of environment he grew up in. The young woman would speak on how the young man had a lower sensing ability than that of her own, and suggested that he look into a technique well known and used in eastern lands known as Ki. Echo had heard of such a technique before although he never truly saw the need for such a thing when he was a very adept sensory mage. However the girl knew more than he did most likely so he thought further research into the topic might not be bad. After speaking of this Ki technique the woman would then speak on Echo’s pitch. She said his proposal was indeed interesting, but that was all she would say of that. She would then speak on a few key points about his magic to which the hunter would laugh before saying “Oh someone was paying attention in the dungeon I see. Sadly your foot notes you took won’t help much.”
Echo was always arrogant in this way, extremely so in fact. He would wait to see what else Verena would say, however before long she would begin to say seemingly random numbers out loud. But after not much time it would be seen that these numbers were not random, they were instead numbers corresponding to the number of golems she would summon forth. Verena called forth 3 different types of golems, but the tricky part was that there was 6 of each type making for a total of 18 golems. Echo let off a grin, as he could feel the amount of mana coming off the golems and off of Verena. Echo was never usual the one for senseless fighting or anything but the flow of power coming from this woman felt amazing. The feeling felt so good that Echo began to compliment the girl saying “Damn Verena I thought you were hot but damn this gets me worked up and turned on… Its no way I can not make you my girlfriend now.”
The hunter would stare at the golems with his face blank and emotionless, the same face he always had when he was about to start a new hunt. After her golems had appeared and assumed some sort off defensive formation around Verena the young woman would ask Echo if the number of “tags” they got were 5, to which Echo would reply to with a simply “Yeah, now lets go!” With those words Echo would immediately dash backwards placing a bit of distance between him and Verena, about 5 additional meters to be exact. As he did this he would release his grimoire from his waist pouch allowing it to freely float alongside him. He would then tap his fingers on his head which would turn him invisible before his feet could fully touch the ground. Once the hunter was invisible he would hope that Verena could not see through his spell but he wasn’t sure. He made his way to the young woman’s flank where he would then take aim and fire a single arrow her way hoping that he would hit, before moving to a slightly different spot to the right of where he was. This time forming an arrow of light and firing that at her instead. WC: 600 TWC: 1635 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Name of Spell: Laser Arrow Elemental Type: Light Rank & Spell Type: Junior | Attack Range & Speed: 25 meters | 20 m/s Mana Cost: 10/5 Stats Effected: N/A Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Quickshot Description: The user generates an arrow made of light(76 cm in length), that is either fired from a bow or thin air and fired at the target. The arrow will go 25 meters at a speed of 20 m/s before dissipating. For every 10 in control the user has they can create one additional arrow to fire.
Name of Spell: Hunter's Light Bending Elemental Type: Light Rank & Spell Type: Junior | Sensory Range & Speed: 10 meter AoE + Sensory stat x4 | 20 m/s Mana Cost: 10/5 Stats Effected: -4 Sensory Applicable Perks: Heightened Senses, Quickshot Description: The user places 2 fingers upon their temple and taps their finger's against their head activating the spell. The spell uses magic to "bend light" around the user and make them seem as if they are invisible. The bending of light around the user also makes anyone within the spell's range to have their awareness in general lowered. The required sensory to see through this illusion goes down by -2 for every post the spell is active.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll"] Verena saw no need to engage in the redhead's provocations. She was more interested in studying his magic. She already had gotten something of an idea of how his mana was. The best description she got from the feel of this one's mana was arrogant. That was an unfortunate trait to possess. But she needed to learn more about it. So she needed to take her time with this. How to preserve his ego so that he would continue to show her his magic, all the while beating into him a degree of humility.[break][break]
...No, that was her own sense of pride. It was more important she learned this element. The Royal Knight Exams came before her own sense of pride. At least, right now. The magic he possessed was far more important, so drawing it out until she was able to properly learn how the mana wanted to be used. She still needed to make sure this one could live up to his potential as well. As he was, he was going to end up taking a very bad end at a very quick pace. The brunette didn't want that on her conscience, even if it wouldn't have mattered to most.[break][break]
Turned on? Make her his? Verena couldn't help but inwardly sigh, her expression losing that smile and returning to the stoic nature. This is what separated men from boys, she felt. There was nothing she could gain from marriage from this one. The brunette was selfish in a way. Her own sense of ambition and goals were always her first priority. And she wanted someone who wished to see her own goals to fruition. It would have to be someone from nobility, of course. Her family couldn't afford a worse reputation, after all. Though sometimes she wondered if it was even possible.[break][break]
"There is something I'm afraid you're sorely mistaken about,"" she said, though it didn't seem as the brunette was going to elaborate any more on this point.[break][break]
After all, why would she? Part of learning -- education -- was for one to figure that out on their own. Simply giving someone the answer defeated the entire purpose behind teaching. So she would beat it into his being. Under normal circumstances, the best approach would have been to target the caster when there were this many golems. All the more so when Verena herself was practically a sitting duck.[break][break]
but the issue with doing that right now was a pretty simple one.[break][break]
Even if she couldn't see where Echo was at, her golems were still capable of identifying him. "Muse, sing A." the woman calmly said once Jaegar used his first spell.[break][break]
A loud, high-pitched, high-frequency noise was emitting. It was just frequency, but between its high pitch and volume, it would have been very aggravating. It didn't cause any the redhead any injury -- internal or external -- but it was very annoying all the same. This feat was possible by causing her mana that made up that golem to vibrate in a way to create a frequency. And that frequency would have been measured at 493.88 hertz. This was the very first sound golem she had managed to produce after learning the magic from Suna.[break][break]
Echo might have disappeared from Verena's range of sight, but this noise would have definitely still had an impact on him if he had no means of blocking off his ears. The Reinsberg also assumed that he was a hunter of proficient skill, at least. That meant his eyes, ears, and nose were likely all vital and important sensory tools to him, beyond his own magic sensory. But that also meant they would be a bit more sensitive than most if that was the case. Though of course, for anyone this would still be quite irritating.[break][break]
Of course, though she knew the spell was coming, reacting to it was another matter. Her wall was created, but only after the arrow managed to imbed itself into her, even if just barely. It was enough to stick. However, the woman didn't have much of a reaction to a single arrow managing to strike her. In fact, she actually seemed as though she had just had a flash of inspiration or wisdom come to her. And that was precisely because she did. Light magic moved too quickly for the average person to keep up. And as they were in combat, it'd be a little bit more difficult to study the structure behind it.[break][break]
However, this gave her a chance to more properly take in a moment to understand the mana. Of course, she knew that as long as he was invisible that he'd be able to launch even more attacks. And that was why...[break][break]
The brunette was still staring straight ahead as several chains manifested from thin air around her. But immediately, they all launched towards where the arrow had been shot at. Almost no time at all had passed since she had been struck. She might not have been able to see the archer, but what the man didn't seem to consider was that his magic was bright and they were in a forest at night. It might have moved too fast, but his position was immediately given away.[break][break]
The chains were not all meant to hit the youth, however. They were split up in such a way that allowed them to cut off as many escape routes as possible. One directly from where the arrow was shot, one a little bit behind, and the rest were shot a bit ahead. As her goal wasn't to immobilize him, she didn't need to aim for his legs. Any part of his body was good enough. So long as one chain connected, that was all that mattered.[break][break]
If the chains did manage to hit him, however, they didn't cause any damage. Instead, they simply imbed themselves straight into him. His mana regenerative abilities would fall, but so too would his mana, siphoning some away from him. Worst yet, if a chain did manage to connect bind itself to him, it didn't matter if Verena or her golems could see 'him'. That chain would stick out as a sore thumb.[break][break]
"You're not using your magic to its fullest potential, you know," Verena calmly said as she pulled the arrow out of her arm, staring at it.[break][break]
The Reinsberg ordered any golems that could identify Echo (either her Muses if the youth had managed to avoid all of the seven chains, or all eighteen period if even a single chain managed to connect). She was going to pressure him, back him into a corner, though only one of these golems was ordered to attack -- specifically, a single Arachne. If it managed to get close enough, that massive arm of it tried to swipe towards the light mage, and if it managed to hit, it would send him back quite a bit.[break][break]
He was a hunter, and this was the forest. If his magic was going to give him away, he needed to be better at hiding. But more importantly, it allowed Verena a chance to more properly gauge this mana and attempt to cast it. The young man was something of an after thought right now. If he dispelled this spell, it'd mean that she wouldn't be able to get a feel for it, and that would be frustrating.[break][break]
"Arrogant. Self centered. Stubborn. Blinded," Verena thought to herself as she focused more on the arrow in her hand than the fight at large. "His magic wants to be recognized. Not unlike the caster, I imagine... What a fragile ego... but that's okay, I accept that part of both of you."[break][break]
Assuming her golems were chasing Echo, Verena hadn't moved, still taking her spot behind her wall. It seemed like an excellent chance to try her hand at something. Bits of mana began gathering near her and encircling the area as they began glowing. She had the basic principle behind it. It was a very simple concept. But she still hadn't quite earned the trust of this magic yet... It seemed knowing what it wanted to do wasn't quite enough.[break][break]
"He should be ready to attack me again," she thought to herself, getting ready for whatever his next move might have been.
Elemental Type: Carbon[break]Rank & Spell Type: Junior, Restraining[break]Range & Speed: 25m, 10m/s[break]Mana Cost: 10 cast, 5 sustain[break]Stats Effected: -10 Mana Regen[break]Applicable Perks: Mana Prison, Sapping Bonds[break]Description: Similar to Chains of the Past, Frenzied Chain Dance acts as a chain. Unlike Chains of the Past, however, this spell focuses on debuffing a target(s) mana and thus restoring her own. This chain is made up of a solid chain link of magic that has taken the form of carbon, and as such appears incredibly dense. These can materialize from anywhere in a [1m] vicinity around the user and can travel a distance of up to [25m], moving at [10m/s]. Of course, these chains are also under ammo rules, an additional chain being capable of being made for every 10 [CON] the user possesses.[break][break]If the chain(s) is able to make contact with a target(s), they impale the target, latching into them and directly attacking their bodies' ability to regenerate mana. This is painless and leaves no mark upon the bodies, giving that the impression that upon making contact with something with mana, they forfeit a physical form (to a limited degree). These chains are connected to the caster's own mana pool and as such siphon a portion (5) of what they're able to absorb and return it to the user.

He did it he actually managed to land a shot, he kinda didn’t believe in himself in the beginning. But for him to hit her so easily he was amazed. However right after the young hunter shot his laser arrow, the young lady would launch a counter attack using the flight path of the arrow as a sign of where he was. While he knew that would be a problem he figured that he would be fast enough to move out of the way of whatever she through his way. Sadly she would not yet launch a direct attack she would instead use some sort of sound spell from a golem to make a very annoying noise. The noise seemed so loud and concentrated, the mere sound of it would cause Echo to lose focus and accidentally drop his invisibility spell.
After his spell had been dropped he thought to himself *Shit* right as he would try to move chains made out of a weird substances would emerge and attempt to restrain him. As he caught sight of the chains at the last second it was no way he had time to move out the way and so he would sit there and take his hit like a man. He would allow the chains to grab him, not believing there to be anything else he could attempt in such a situation.
When the chain latched onto Echo he felt no pain at all, he instead felt as if the very mana was being sucked out of him. Looking at himself and the chains he would say out loud “What the hell is going on?” He would then look at Verena and let off a smile before saying “You know you are pretty good, I don’t think us fighting will do any good. Besides I’m already worn out from that forest…” He would say to the young lady before falling out in the grass of the area. He would look up at the moon filled sky, and then lean his head over to look at Verena.
“Im tired but you still need to learn, so just come and watch a bit. I did wanna fight you but my body has other plans right now…” the young red head would then summon forth his grimoire and the book would begin to glow with the power of light. No doubt Verena could feel this power as it took place, and within seconds she would then see it. From the magical book of Echo came out a small orb of light, no bigger than one’s fist maybe. The orb of light would then travel to Echo’s hand and wrap around it similar to that of a glove. The young man would then hold his light empowered fist upward, specifically so that Verena could clearly see it.
“This is probably the first spell I ever learned… And that mana you drained from me earlier, I’m sure it too had hints of my element that you could feel too right?” The young boy would then lower his hand after she had enough time to look. He was so tired, even just trying to spar so shortly after leaving the forest was a lot for the boy, he just hoped that he could help Verena faster so he could go home and get some sleep.

Verena could tell that the youth was surprised to have landed even a single hit. She never once claimed to be untouchable, however. She had already admitted her sensory prowess was quite low earlier after all. It seemed as though he didn't seem to pick up on that, and used that spell with the intent not to take advantage of her weakness, but because it was a convenient period. Though the latter made sense, it called into question if he was strategical of mind, or if he was just a kind person not wishing to take advantage of another's shortcomings. It was too soon to tell either way.[break][break]
"...Admittedly, the only reason I brought up sparring to begin with was because the entire time in the dungeon, you seemed to give the impression of wanting something... more? I can't quite put it into words. I apologize for assuming something," Verena said, bowing her head slightly.[break][break]
Verena did not think of herself as 'pretty good' if she was to be completely honest with herself. She was just at the threshold. While she wouldn't consider herself weak anymore, she knew she still had a long way to go. She was still too helpless for her own liking. And it was because she didn't think of herself as 'pretty good' that she chose not to comment on it, though she knew that the redhead was likely being sincere in his words.[break][break]
It made sense that he would be worn out though. For her, not even the old hag posed a threat. However, he was young, inexperienced, and above all else, reckless. He hadn't fine-tuned his mana to be able to properly allow it to grow, and it wasn't as if the young man was capable of handling hordes of enemies on his own yet, either. The arrow had left her person, but she had managed to get a somewhat more improved feeling from it.[break][break]
Verena moved closer when Echo told her to come to watch. But of course, he already knew that she likely had developed something of a familiarity with his magic when she had managed to take some for herself with her chains. He was pretty smart if he was able to figure that out, though she chose not to address that point, either.[break][break]
Instead, once she was close enough, she watched as he cast some sort of spell that allowed light to be emitted from his fist. A close-ranged melee spell? Interesting. The brunette did suppose as far as magic at large went, a spell like this made sense to be able to use for ones 'first spell'. It was a simple enough construct that allowed one to harness mana to enhance their power. A bit of an... unnecessary spell, given his current fighting style, but its simplicity gave him both an advantage when it counted as well as the room to be developed further.[break][break]
Verena took notice of how the spell worked. Upon being cast, the mana didn't just gather to his fist, but around it and enveloped the area. It was giving off an aura, and yet it clearly was not an aura. Without any real sense of danger, the woman drew closer as she immediately grabbed his wrist, pulling it closer to her face -- unless, of course, Echo pulled away.[break][break]
"...I see," she began. "Light magic truly is fascinating. And the mana itself seems to be aware of that. I can see why it's a rare magic."[break][break]
It was as if it had its own personality. There likely similarities between Echo and his own magic, but it seemed as if his magic did harbor some ... uncertainty about its host. Of course, bringing that up would simply be rude. She knew better than to say something like that, and so she held her tongue.[break][break]
"I think I have enough information to be able to effectively do this," Verena began to say as she looked over to the boy, releasing his wrist and stepping back. The woman, though shy, had no sense of personal space and boundaries when it came to magic. It was clear that she got very excited about this topic.[break][break]
Between being able to see the magic up close and personal, seeing it being used in combat, the feeling of the mana, and even the 'taste' of it, she had managed to absorb quite a bit of information from this. It was indeed a very useful turn of events. One that she fully intended to make full use of.[break][break]
Verena moved to make some space between the two, before bringing her arms down to her hips as she only slightly raised her hands upward. Concentrating, Verena took a deep breath and closed her eyes.[break][break]
The most information she received about light magic stemmed from when she had siphoned part of it from the boy. The magic in question was confident -- borderline arrogant. It seemed to be aware of its rarity by the standards of man. If she was to befriend it, then she needed to agree with that. This confidence was, after all, not unwarranted. It was a very powerful type of magic that not only blessed the user with physical speed but also moved at incredible speed itself.[break][break]
But this magic... it seemed damaged. This was most certainly a consequence of its user. The best feeling she could think to describe it was probably something like... concern. Concerned about something. Just what she wasn't sure; it wasn't a feeling she had ever experienced when trying to learn someone else's magic before. The only thing she could probably think of at the time when she realized that was that it might have something to do with its user, but she also knew it was none of her business to ask. But... if she was to be able to properly use this magic, then she probably had no choice but to ask. But that was something like a last resort.[break][break]
"If you want someone to confide in, you can trust me. I will give you what you want. I will show you the world. I will let you embody all that you were meant to embody, and I will help you. Heal you. I know what it's like to be broken. To be hurt. To be concerned for someone else's sake and even my own."[break][break]
The mana that Verena had provided the area with began softly glowing, a warm feeling given to it as bits of yellow began to sway, basking in the glow of the moonlight. It seemed as though she was making some real progress.[break][break]
"You are indeed a truly powerful type of magic. You can save lives as quickly as you can take it. But more importantly than what you can do for the world of man, you embody the very life force of the planet. Without your presence, we would only know night. Darkness would be all that we know. You and you alone are the force that has permanently ended that emptiness."[break][break]
As she was communicating with this magic, she had gone completely quiet. However, there seemed to be something that caught her off guard, flinching a bit.[break][break]
"...Ah. Yes, I suppose I do. But you know, it's not as if the darkness is a truly evil thing. Light and darkness, life and death. Aren't these two opposites born to keep man in check? If light was eternal, then we always be seeking further and greater heights. And if darkness was perpetual, then there would be no man at all. Isn't it through the existence of man that you were able to become truly appreciated, after all?"[break][break]
The glow seemed to be even stronger. It was almost as bright as Echo's own magic. To the redhead, this might have appeared strange. It was obvious that some sort of communication was happening, but the only thing he would have heard was maybe an occasional animal. A hoot or a howl.[break][break]
"Of course I wish to acquire your power to become stronger. But I don't desire to hurt anyone. I simply want the power to protect myself and others. My ideal is not to stand at the top through the defeat of others. My ideal is to reform this country. To make it a better place for all. Using the system of man to change the system of man. Rather than achieving fame through becoming the strongest, wouldn't you agree that changing the future of an entire kingdom is a much better way to achieve lasting fame?"[break][break]
The glow became even stronger now, shining even brighter than what Echo was capable of. While not necessarily blinding, it seemed to have responded to Verena in some form. The woman smiled softly, slowly opening her eyes.[break][break]
"You really are blessed to have such magic," Verena said. "Don't ever forget that."[break][break]
The mana in the area grew in intensity, growing to almost blinding levels as it danced and raced around in excitement. It rose up high, high above both as it encircled both. It truly was just like the element, she felt, to wish to 'show off' in this type of manner. It formed a large circle -- practically a halo -- above them both in this forest, as if creating a spotlight that both were in.[break][break]
Verena watched with astonishment as she looked up towards this circle. "...yes, we really are blessed to be able to use magic like this. To call upon magic at all, when it's more ancient than humanity itself."[break][break]
The light that shined over both suddenly dove into Verena's grimoire all at once, casting both the brunette and her grimoire in a blinding light. It seemed as though she had been acknowledged, though there was no way to say with complete certainty.[break]

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR training over maybe?
As Echo wold lay on the ground, his body sore and stiff he would think to himself a bit about how this situation would make him feel internally. Before today Echo had really thought that his magic had placed him above most people, he thought that the magic would give him power yet this would help him learn that even with such a powerful magic he would have to still earn the power he needed. Earning that power would be the only way he could get stronger, in hopes of one day killing his father and leading his family to “salvation”. Verena would tell the youth how she never really wanted to spar, however she thought it may be the best course as the youth felt like he was holding something in. Was it really that obvious? Could the sad tale Echo held in really be felt through the sharing of a few hours together? He didn’t think the vine he carried could be that far off, but maybe it was exactly how she said. “Wanting something more huh? I mean I do want something more, but I can’t tell you what it is… I used to once think I wanted to be strong just to make my family happy, but now it feels like I have begun to lose my way…”
As he spoke a few tears would shed here and there but only from his left eye. The young woman would examine his magic covered hand as he laid there, as she would be making small comments about the magic that Echo had. She wold say that light magic was really a fascinating magic. She would even go as far to say that the very mana that made up the magic knew that it was “special”, something that Echo would scoff at before laughing and saying “Oh so you mean to tell me my magic is an arrogant airhead like me? That can’t be good.” After saying this the young hunter would let off a light smile, this would probably be the first time Verena had seen the youth smile since they had met. After Verena had finished her examination of Echo’s hand and the magic surrounding it she would say she thinks she can effectively do it now. Echo was just a bit confused as the woman said this, thinking there was no way she could have mastered the magic so soon.
Verena woud release Echo’s wrist before stepping back as she prepared to do something. Echo was very interested in what was about to happen and so he would sit up off the ground so that he could watch the magic about to take place. The area that the two stood in within the forest would begin to glow a warm light all around. Mana would seemingly begin to ‘dance’ and fly around them as Verena was doing something along the lines of focusing her magic energy. The lights would get brighter over time and the mana dancing more fluidly than before, Echo just stood in amazement as he watched the spectacle. As this all went on the very environment seemed to understand the powers at work because the only noise that could be heard was the sound of owls and other nocturnal animals. Watching this had felt strange to Echo as he had never seen anyone use light magic besides himself, due to the magic’s rarity. However the fact that this girl had met Echo only hours ago, and she had somehow already learned how to do even this much… the sight was incredible to say the least.
Echo would simply continue to watch as the ‘ceremony’ would continue on. “So this is it? This is what power feels like Verena?" The youth would grab a piece of the light mana flying around them, using his sensory abilities to get a feel for the magic. He could feel that the light magic Verena was currently giving off was a bit more powerful than his own. This would indeed hurt the pride of the noble hunter, however he could expect nothing more from a woman of such quality. After feeling the power of Verena’s blooming light magic Echo would smile as she seemingly finished the ceremony. He would smile at her one more time as she said to him that he was truly blessed to have such a magic. Echo had never felt like his magic was a blessing so to say, but more or less a tool given to him to exact his revenge. Verena seemed much more happy now that she had learned to befriend the element of light, Echo was also happy as he thought that the most pure of element deserved to be with someone of pure heart unlike himself.
Echo would try to make his way onto his feet, struggling to do so but he would accomplish the act either way. After making it to his feet he would dust himself off a bit before looking to Verena and saying “Im glad you were able to learn so quickly… however I must go now before my family thinks something bad happened to me….” The young hunter would pause for a moment before looking at Verena deeply in the eyes and saying “I don’t want this to be the last time I see you. I’ve actually grown to like you a bit. Can’t say I’ve had that with anyone else ever. I know technically there was no winner or loser but I still really want to go on that date if that’s possible.” The young boy’s face would begin to blush as he would turn around to hide his rose filled cheeks. Beginning to walk away from the woman Echo would wave behind him saying “You don’t have to answer me now, but you know my name I’m sure you should have no problem finding me or my family if you decide to say yes.” Echo would then begin to limp his way off towards the Rogue’s Refuge, so that he could try to go and finally get some rest, and possibly some medical attention.
