[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol waited until the last match had finished before he headed down the stairs and towards the entrance of the arena, he felt the sunlight beat down on him as he stepped out onto the coliseum grounds and he glanced up at three captains, for it was these three who would be judging them, scrutinizing their options and the examinees potential heavily. Still strapped to the blood mages side was his beautifully ornate katana since he didn’t think it would be against the rules to battle with a weapon so he armed himself before coming here. While he was still getting used to its abilities since it was oddly temperamental at the moment, almost as if it had its own personality. [break][break] Sol couldn’t help but notice that the sword fit perfectly in his hand and was the perfect length for him as well as if he was always meant to wield it since he was born, however, that was a bit hard for him to believe currently since he had only obtained it a little ways back in a dungeon so he had no clue what the inner workings of such a blade was. Though from the way dirt and decay seemed to have avoided the blade since before he got it the red-eyed noble had no doubt that the blade was extremely powerful. The gaze that was on Sol's face was a mixture of determination and focus as he stopped and turned so he would be facing his opponents, his hand steady on his katana as he awaited for the two to arrive. [break][break] Down on the field if they didn’t get cold feet that is, Sol honestly hoped that they would at least give it a try since the only way for them to get any kind of chance to impress the captains would be to fight against each other. There was much he had endured to get to this point, the humiliation, the looks of disgust and mistrust that came his way like a magnet just because of the element he was unfortunate to be born with and the eyes that were anything but normal. [break][break] As he waited Sol thought about the two opponents he would be facing, he knew a bit about Joseph since he had been on the same team as him in the excursion to reclaim Kikka, while he still had some trauma from that mission he did remember that Joseph seemed to be a sensory type and he recalled him not having much offensive ability though that didn’t mean Sol would underestimate him, the blood mage knew that underestimation was deadly and he didn’t intend to come at Joseph or Willow with anything less than the intent to win by any means necessary. [break][break] while he knew about Joseph mostly Sol knew next to nothing about Willow and that in his mind made her a dangerous wild card since he didn’t know how she would fight and what her magic specializations were. the crimson eyed noble would have to plan around the unknown aspect of her carefully. If they did come down he spoke after a moment “ Let's show them what we got, because let's face it we are not the strongest here so we have to think differently” he said before going on “if we cant impress them, then... we shouldn’t be standing here because the threat is all too real” he explained with his tone being serious as his gaze turned fearsome and focused and the grip on his katana tightened a bit.

There had to be something to being a knight beyond some power ceiling. She couldn't stand on the stage with the others, but she could match up to the other two she was poised to come to blows with. Win or lose, there was a chance, but, the chance to be something more came with trying harder. Willow Omens was rambling through her thoughts to herself as she tried to think about 'what does it mean to be a royal knight'.
The knight systems of the different kingdoms all stood for different things, Clover was for the defense of the people and the kingdom, as everyone in the kingdom was a part of the kingdom's vitality. New Haven had their warriors who were about protecting the land, and going on pilgrimages to find other refugees. Diamond was about might making right. Spade was -- we try not to think much about Spade. Heart kingdom was more of a mystery than anything else.
What it means to be a knight, beyond wanton fighting... She mulled the thought over in her mind, even as she took the stage for the fight.
With no major equipment on hand that she felt comfortable with, Willow stood out as a common mage, she stood out further by the choice of garments.
Pink hair, with streaks of paint across her cheeks to outline the elfen markings of her heritage. Her outfit looked to be of New Haven origins -- it was mostly well-fitting and breathable leathers layered over her standard attire. She looked as though she had stopped home before coming to these exams.
Without having met any of these other two before, she would represent her people and strive to make a proper first impression -- though anyone that knew of New Haven knew they had a tendency to leech mana from other people, building up power and draining their foes dry. Hunters who chipped away at their prey until they were weak enough to be taken away in one decisive blow.
The formerly skittish girl had a look of steeled resolve on her face, a somber look of trying to acknowledge the combatant(s) she was up against.
"I am having the pleasure -- It is a pleasure to meet you. I am having the hope to one day be of better strength. Please be allowing me to serve as a guide to greater heights." She spread her legs, bent at the knees, while her arms jutted out and fingers splayed like claws, she was unarmed and striking up a grappling pose befit of a physical reinforcement fighter.
[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol sighed as he saw that Joseph had not joined them down on the floor and he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment at that since he had worked with the man before and had been hoping to see what he could do when it came down do combat, however he still had one opponent in front of him so he still had a chance to show off what he could do and he would make sure to show that he could take down enemies better then he could before and that he had grown immensely from the time he spent in Kikka on the last excursion. Glancing at his opponent the blood mage was a bit surprised by her attire and her hair color while odd hair colors were not uncommon he had never seen bright pink hair nor her attire that consisted of multiple leather layers. [break][break] Upon hearing her words Sol slipped into a ready stance the same time as she did and he spoke once more.”If you seek strength then make sure to learn from this battle even if you take a loss do not falter but build upon it from there now the time for talk is over” he declared as his grimoire floated beside him and suddenly the noble caused a pool of blood to gush from the ground as he suddenly dashed to the side of Willow aiming to flank her and attack from the side, while he did two long and emaciated arms emerged from the pool and pulled up what appeared to be a gangly and starved creature made of blood with strong yet thin limbs and a long whip like tail. The beast had razor sharp claws and out of what appeared to be a hard blood human skull was a fearsome monster like skull with razor sharp fangs and a sharp tongue and as well. finishing of its appearance was a set of hard blood antlers that could gore someone with ease. Sol only uttered three words as he was moving [break][break] “Attack and Subdue!” he declared as the beast suddenly charged forward with frighting speed rushing at the young woman on all fours and quickly closed the distance with its jaws wide open and its body ready to deal significant damage though it wouldn’t attempt to maim since its orders were to subdue not kill, Sol quickly would rush in at Willow from the side as the wendigo would attempt to shoulder charge her using its boney body to inflict harm. If it missed Sol would keep going and aim to deliver a diagonal slash at the woman with his blade aiming to disable her but not deal fatal harm. Sol didn’t intend to make this easy for her and if he had his way he would end this quickly since the longer it dragged on the more it was possible for his opponent to turn the tide and gain an edge on him and do damage. She was spry, she was wiry, she was ready to fight. There would be no third combatant, there would just be herself and Sol. Between the two of them, there was one thing that was certain, her speed was matched if not greater than her foe. His spells were another story, but there was one thing that Willow had considered in her time of conversing with the fragments of people of the past that dwelled within her: there was worth in getting closer.
"Being ready to go until a loss I am. But refusing to roll over and accept it is the game's name for the day!" She sounded like she didn't speak the common language too well.
"The winds of fortune are howling! The tides of fate are crashing!" She shouted to herself as the two were ready to get underway.
She was no stranger the scary looking beasts, even though her nerves usually faltered a little at first sight of them. With Sol summoning a beast reminiscent of the undead she had seen in the dungeon, Willow just made a run for the monster and Sol himself, her grimoire at the ready.
CHarging in at the spell itself and Sol, she sought to slide along the ground and under the hulking beast, using her diminutive size and the large gait of the creature to get under it while aiming for Sol, her eyes never leaving his body. Two blue magic circles formed, floating in front of her palms as she aimed for Sol directly, ready to take a blow from the golem passing over her or its tail on her way out from under it, but she was aiming for Sol at close range.
"Jtuh Xkobbqi! Wquf Tynhonv!" "Drizzle Shot! Hunting Flow!" It sounded like two voices at once, layered over one another. One in her native tongue, the other in common speech. And out shot two spells. One of which was a straightforward bullet of water, condensed into a proper spell rather than unbridled mana. The other took on the elongated form of an eel with no animal features, like a free-flowing worm of water. If either missed, the Drizzle Shot would just fly on until it struck a wall, but the other spell would stop in the air and move with her command.
CLenching her fist tight for the one that was used to cast hunting flow, Willow was using a tracer, a spell that wouldn't let up until it was stopped or hit something. ANd if either struck, she'd feel all the more powerful for it, and Sol would feel all the weaker.
Willow's people were known for several things; the first being their natural unorthodox style of physicality over long range bombardment with spells, the second being that a majority of New Havenites grew in power the longer that they fought, and lastly was that they stole mana from others by touch or draining it with their own spells.
She was here to play, getting hit or not, she wanted to show Sol why getting close to her was a bad idea!
WC: 518 TWC: 948 Combat summary: Willow ran at Sol and his spell, and slid along the ground, aiming two spells from her slide at Sol (Drizzle Shot and Hunting Flow)

[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol merely listened as Willow responded to his words before she then started to shout almost as if to hype herself up and Sols eyes narrowed with his hand on his katana.” You talk far to much” he said his tone turning hard as they started their battle. As she ran at both Sol and his wendigo the blood user nearly shook his head at the foolishness of that idea as she then slid towards his beast aiming to go under it as he suddenly shifted his movement aiming to be alongside his beast as it took both of her spells since Sol was positioned differently now and was slightly trailing behind his beast so its limbs and body shielded him. As she slid the Wendgo would suddenly bring its arms down hard and slam her into the ground with extreme force right as she was under it though its lost a small bit of its strength from pushing thru the spells so it didn’t do as much damage as Sol would have hoped. [break][break] Sol meanwhile turned and ducked behind a pillar near them while his beast was attacking so he could plan ahead for this fight, he knew he was stronger then her but he knew he needed to plan this carefully or it could still blow up in his face so he needed to play to his strengths since he knew he could overpower her but in the end that meant he needed to corner her as well so his golem could knock her out. He peeked out to keep an eye on his beast but trying to stay out of Willows line of sight before he smirked and made droplets of blood form on his fingers before he snapped them and caused the droplets to fall and absorb into the ground. From the spot where Willow was located tendrils of blood would start to erupt from the ground near her feet and would aim to start wrapping around her body the hardened serrations on the tendrils would dig into her limbs and body causing pain as well as slowing her down immensely. [break][break] The wendigo was still right above her and this time it aimed a two slam both of its clawed hands into her body once more and this time to break her mana skin, truly for most it would a terrifying position to be in since by legend these creatures were known to pray exclusively on humans while this golem wouldn’t those with the knowledge might feel a bit nervous for the girl, if by some chance the girl managed to move the creatures tail was whipping around risking a hit if she got to close to it. Sol at this point seemed to have the girl pinned and was playing it smart now the blood mage would work to bust her mana shield before knocking her out since he didn’t want to give her another chance to try and surprise him.. no he intended to finish this quickly and efficiently. Even if she spoke too much, she wanted to say the things she did. Sol had told her to basically be quiet with his words and actions, and their fight had progressed all too quickly and was already on the verge of ending. She was inexperienced and naive, she hadn't been out much and neglected her growth. Her grimoire was mostly blank, and her spells were lackluster even through everything she had been through.
Even if her plan wasn't working out she was learning her limitations. Willow had already seen the wall and hit it face first. Now she was learning just how steep it was to surmount and get over. The girl was under the wendigo, even as it was massacreing her, or trying to.
She felt herself buckle under the blows it delivered, followed by that snapping sensation. A crackle of static, the sign that her mana skin, the first line of defense against being truly harmed, had broken. Her people were resilient, but everyone had their limits. Maybe if she had prepared more, she would have been able to handle this with he natural feats of New Haven.
Alas, she was curling up and trying to protect her head and face with her arms, letting her limbs get cut up and harmed if the thing attacked her further. Willow at least knew when to not fight back. To her, this wasn't a proper place to get maimed or lose her life.
"Stop!" She shouted out to Sol, hoping he'd at least let up before she lost an arm! Seemed like she was surrendering.
I don't know where the future[break][break] will take us,[break][break] But we will blaze it together.[break][break]

[attr="class","ardereescroll"]The fight between Willow and Sol. Admittedly Ardere had his own reservations on the engagement, but they were both soon to be Knights after all. At least, they were supposed to be for the purposes of the Mission. The chosen few who came to the Royal Knights Exam possessed strength beyond that of an ordinary Knight. Unfortunately strength did not only come from one's physical prowess or magical knowledge--it came from deep inside. [break][break] Fear and regret were the slayers of courage and commitment--two ideals required to be a prosperous warrior. Ardere did not have a single doubt in his mind that the two below wielded courage and commitment on some level. Sometimes one just needed a little push. Allow me a moment. A light sigh emitted from his pale lips as the Captain addressed his fellow spectators. His body began change as it was engulfed in flames, forming an armor of sorts across his skin. Leaping down from the Captain's box, he kicked off the side wall of the Arena with supreme strength that only a truly powerful mage could possess. A massive crater appeared on the wall, causing the entire arena to rumble and shake for a moment. [break][break] Like a blazing meteor shooting across the sky, the Crimson Lion Captain appeared by Willow and the Wendigo golem summoned by Sol. Simply holding a hand up as a way to say "stop", he walked over to stand over Willow. If that did not work, he would simply dish out a kick into the golem to dispel it instantly. He stood with magnificent flaming mana emitting from him, a power all in the arena could feel now. Allow me a moment Sol. Leaning down to talk to Willow, flames began to peel away from his face to reveal skin underneath and a set of soft amber eyes. Look at me Willow. Just for a moment. His eyes blazed with conviction and concern for the well being of this Mage She was cowering in fear now, not from any Daemon or horrific monster, but from another mage. You want to fight to protect the people you care about, right? You want to prove yourself here, yes? That's why you, a civilian came all this way to fight here isn't it? Exhaling softly, he looked to her calmly and plainly. Then you do not surrender on the ground like this. You must gather your strength. No Daemon will accept a surrender. They will kill you and destroy everything we hold dear. I've seen it, and I've lost too much because of it. Grinding his teeth, his mind dwelled on a place long forgotten but was soon consumed by his desire to help this young woman. If you truly wish to surrender, I'll allow it. But I do not think you are so easily defeated. So if you're going to do so, then do it on your feet. Stand tall in front of your opponent and bow your head in respect. If not, then summon all of your courage now, my young Mage. Giving an encouraging smile, Ardere stepped to the side to await her decision.
Name of Spell: Crimson King: Tyr[break] Elemental Type: Fire[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation/Physical Reinforcement[break] Range & Speed: Self | N/A[break] Mana Cost: 40 (20)[break] Stats Effected: +Grand Strength[break] Applicable Perks: Mana Conservationist, Concussive Blows, Battle Knight, Brute, Herculean Strength.[break] Description: Ardere has used this spells for years, and is considered one of his most used spells. Based on the Ifrit spell Lysander used and the Abyss Armor Elizabeth utilized, this spell has been honed and practiced. The mage creates an armor of flame across his entire body, lighting his hair on fire in the process. This also causes his muscles to expand and strengthen as the PR aspect of it reinforces his strength. This allows him to punch holes in buildings, or even level them. The power of the flame and reinforcement are used in tandem to make this a monstrously terrifying offensive spell.

[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] It seemed that with one error the battle had shifted instantly into one sides favor and with Sol lurking amongst the pillars watching he suddenly heard the cry of stop from Willow as well as Captain Ardere appearing on the field Sols voice rang out loud and clear. “Halt! six steps back and wait” he called out from his spot behind the pillar, the golem which had its arm raised for another strike slowly lowered its arm and moved six steps away from the downed mage and the captain but it was clear that the blood beast was ready to strike again the moment a command was given but it wasn’t making any move to attack at all as it waited, The beast was hunched over but there was tension in its legs and its was flexing its fingers and claws almost twitching them as if sensing its creators urge to want to finish this battle quickly. The tendrils around her limbs would slacken before turning back into liquid that other then possible staining her clothes a bit wouldn’t do anymore harm though the noble knew the wounds from the serrations would sting something fierce [break][break] As much as Sol understood why the captain was stepping in it also did slightly bother him since he was on the cusp of victory but he wouldn’t let it get under his skin. The blood mage knew that his skills were improving every day and he intended to push thru this and fight against the archdeamons, the nobles slitted ruby eyes watched Willow carefully and he was ready to issue a command at a moments notice though if she did throw in the towel he wouldn’t blame her if anything he would offer advice and even a bit of praise since in battle discretion was sometimes the better part of valor,Sol tightened the grip on his sword as he waited and could only wonder what the final decision she would make would be. She was ready to be maimed here, prepared to start biting onto some dust and tearing it apart to get a grave ready for herself. Instead, something happened, causing her to start in surprise. A red knight in shining armor that had come in, announcing a respite in activity to give her a moment with him. Sol relented to let her have a conversation with the man, whoever he was.
As her arms dropped to let her see the man, there was an immediate sense of guilt, joy, and...agitation? Her eye twitched for a moment as Ardere appeared before her. Something was stirring as he spoke to her. The color of her eyes shifted, something reminiscent of the teal of the former Willow that rested deep inside her.
Ardere right in front of her, asking her to be brave, to be a stoic figure in the face of adversity, no matter what, she'd have to face it headlong, even if it meant defeat. His words rang true to her, she felt it in her core as she turned to her side and skipped up to her feet. Propping up to a full stance, she took a deep breath, lurching backward to gaze up at the heavens.
Part of her was stirring, something that was resting in the recesses of her soul. The spirit of the original Willow, who had taken to watching over the new one, felt a little spark of kinship right off the bat upon seeing Ardere. At least they could rest easy now. But Willow, as she straightened herself up, looked at Ardere with one eye shut, almost like she was wearing an eyepatch. Maybe that would be enough to give him a hint.
After all, the previous Willow never did let him live that down after the volcano dungeon all those years ago, from before the shattered timeline.
With the vim and vigor renewed, a sense of pride welling up inside of her, and the spark of defiance and fire of adversity raging, Willow Omens was prepared to put her all into this fight, even if it meant getting maimed in the process.
She was starting to resemble the old Willow in spirit at least a little bit. "The wind of fortune are howling! The tides of fate are breaking! The light of tomorrow shines on the land." She rallied herself with her own battle cry, waiting for Sol!

[attr="class","ardereescroll"]Ardere gave a slight smile. He did not wish for Willow to be severely injured, but he at least had to instill some fighting spirit in her, lest she be a liability out in the field. The Captain had hoped this was not the case and it seemed he was correct, thus he'd let the fight continue. Alright. On the count of three you may both resume. Leaping into the air with enough strength to shake the arena slightly, he held out his fingers for a countdown. One. Two. Three. Begin! Making his way back up to the spectator's box, he let out a heavy breath. He could only hope he did not make the wrong decision for Willow. If she could merely go out with some style, then at least she'd prove to herself she could be strong. Ultimately it was one's view of themselves that mattered most. He knew what it was like to have doubt and fear in his own abilities. It was a war to get past that, but he had won it. Ardere had faith in the mages down below, Civilian and Knight alike that they could find that inner strength as well. He could not bear to lead another one to their death.. [attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] The moment the word begin left the Crimson Lion captains mouth Sol reacted in an instant,”Go!” he ordered mentally thru the tether as the Wendigo shot forward and cleared the 6 step distance with almost blinding speed, the construct had been tensed and ready to attack from the moment it was told to wait, it would aim to shoulder charge into the girl and knock her to the ground once more this time with no mana shield to protect her it would cause some serious pain. The Blood mage was intent on not letting his opponent gain any momentum and he intended to finish this quickly since there was no point in drawing it out because in his mind the enemy would seize any chance it could get to turn the tables and gain the advantage, as harsh as it might be the nobles mindset was one of brutal efficiency and no mercy as he knew he would be given none in return. While his golem had lunged another sharp snap could be heard as Sol sent blood droplets to the ground once more before the blood tendrils would erupt from the ground around Willow intent on wrapping around her limbs again causing serious pain and binding her movement. [break][break]
Since he was still hidden behind a pillar with his head only slightly poking out to survey the battle field he knew his binding spell would most likely catch her off guard again,” Restrain!” Sols ordered mentally thru the tether again as the golem would make one more movement and would aim to wrap its clawed hand around Willows neck not enough to choke her but enough to make her feel the sharpness of the hardened blood claws and know that any movement would cause injury. The crimson eyed noble was intent on making sure he didnt get her any chance to gain ground or to turn the tides he was ending this here and now.

Through it all, whether by her choice to take it and fight her way through the golem, or to face the man hiding behind the pillar head-on, Willow tried her hardest to get through the pain and injuries she was sustaining, but one blow from that golem without her mana skin left her reeling. Her body was thrown back, with no way to actually outspeed or avoid the golem, she was sent to the ground and quickly restrained. As if she was being shown just how faulty her power was, how weak she was in the face of a noble. The Havenite refused to give in though, spurned on by the speech of Ardere.
Restrained to the ground and pinned with no means to fight back, Willow was on her last legs, any further damage and she was liable to pass on. Her head was ringing, her vision was cloudy. Everything felt like it was on fire because her heart raced to try and revitalize her. It was a sense of drowning in the air like there was nothing to do but agonize in the sense of slipping away no matter how she struggled.
With gritted teeth and a pained look in her eyes, she stared up at the golem, with its hand around her neck, she felt like Sol was actually trying to kill her. The fragments of Elie and Elias, acting as her shoulder angel and devil, tried to urge her to call out for help, to not be stupid here. The original Willow was watching on from within the depths of her soul. Willow couldn't make any noise, she couldn't even cough properly.
It was clear though that she was on the verge of death, would Sol go so far as to prove himself by murdering someone though?
So, here's the thing -- you might die here, kind of? But we'll do our best to keep you clinging on. A brash and taunting voice echoed out in her mind. Elias! That isn't true, there's no way they'll let this happen! We just need to take a moment to-- To remember this guy's face and get stronger, yeah, I know Elie. No, I meant we need to take a moment and work on US, and by US, I mean she needs to work on herself and get stronger as a person. Oh, yeah, totally knew that.
Willow meanwhile just had her eyes shut, and waited for the results one way or another.
