It was a relief to know that Charles was willing to work with her. It was admittedly frustrating that she wasn't able to do anything useful for a bit. She at least had over half of her mana back by this point, but it wouldn't be her worst idea to get some more rest. Magic... magic was all she had. It was the only thing she could do. Because of magic, she could be useful. And without it, she was nothing. The potion Lydia had given her had helped, but Verena still had much to be desired. Her muscles weren't quite strong enough for any extensive physical training yet; it'd just cause more damage.[break][break]
So they were working on it. Bit by bit. As best as she could. When she could. It was all she could do. It was all she could hope to do. And yet right now, the only thing she could do was still not yet within her grasp. All because she had been caught off guard. All because she had let the difference of this dungeon get the best of her. She was lucky; had the spritelies even been a bit stronger, it could have very easily spelled the end of her as well as Charles for her own oversight. How dreadfully humiliating.[break][break]
Verena was about to interject and welcome Charles to rest, but he quickly dismissed it, thanking her instead as the two moved on. Of course, Verena struggled to keep up with the man. Her natural speed had increased, but that was akin to saying a person who suffered from morbid obesity had last two pounds. It was only a start, but there was a long way to go. The heiress was not the sort of person who was content with results as minuscule as what she had. She had to go further. She had to.[break][break]
At least Charles didn't belittle her for needing to rest. Since the Royal Knight Exams, exhausting her mana so intently at once had more of an impact on her than she thought it would. Verena had managed to recover well enough she liked to think, but doing it like this certainly carried risks. She needed to be a bit more careful. Cautious. And alert. She wouldn't ever let a situation like the Spritelies occur ever again.[break][break]
The river downstream was tempting enough... she would like nothing more than a bath to vent off these frustrations. Due to Lydia's potion, the curse that was normally present on her body was no longer present. However, for obvious reasons that were no longer an option. Not to mention... Verena eyed her map as the various enemies popped up on her map, their coordinates pointing to the mushrooms. "...No doubt about it," she muttered under her breath.[break][break]
Charles picked up on it as well. Unsheathing his blade, his piercing gaze laid upon the gigantic fungal enemies that now posed a threat to their advancement. "Conserve my mana..." she reminded herself.[break][break]
If she didn't, she didn't trust herself not to get involved. Charles was a capable mage and was her senior. He was much stronger than she was; she was certain of that. She had a long way to go still.[break][break]
Through his magic, Charles was more than capable of making short work of the first three. His powerful silver magic was capable of piercing through these shrooms; especially due to the damp nature. Verena was careful to not get too ahead, making sure to stay in the back and thus not get near any of the potential hazards. It was potent magic, easily dispersing of the threats. Between that and his sword, he made short work of all six of these oversized mushrooms.[break][break]
Verena acknowledged his warning, making sure to stay away from the mushrooms as they advanced further. It was sound reasoning; fungi were more often dangerous than not specifically because of the spores and poisons that they could emit. Charles had managed to systematically defeat them in a way that would allow for a clear walking path as they moved northbound, at least.[break][break]
[ floor 3, area 2 ]
[break]
Verena had kept her map spell active before going into the next part of the forest. Given that she wanted a better understanding of what they might be going up against, she felt it only appropriate to keep her only defense against the unknown active for a bit longer. But because of this, she was able to pick up on incoming mana signatures that the map showed as not friendly.[break][break]
It didn't show all of them; only two, however. But she wasn't quite far enough in this space yet to safely say they were all here. She wasn't going to make such a mistake as to assume that was all. She knew better. As they ventured further, Verena noted the thicker, bushier trees. But more than that, she noted Charles dwindling mana. Well... she could afford to spend a bit of mana here.[break][break]
The fallen acorn shells gave her an idea of what to expect from their upcoming opponents. They were likely going to be fighting squirrel-like enemies. The brunette closed her eyes, thinking about how to go about this. They weren't being attacked yet; they must not have been deep enough in the path. The two that she could detect were likely waiting to ambush them.[break][break]
In that case, Verena intended on coming up with a plan. Both Charles and she needed mana. It would be safe to assume these squirrels would possess nimble bodies; if she wanted to use Crazy Chain Dance, it was ideal to corner the rodents first and get them all in one place. And she needed to do so while spending as little mana as possible. "Charles, I'd suggest not going all out this time around," she encouraged. "Rather, let's split the work like before, but minimize the mana we spend. I'll try luring them all out and taking out as many as I can in the process. If my hunch is correct, we'll be fighting some faster opponents here. Whatever is remaining, I ask that you take on. If you a spell that can cover a wide area that isn't what you've been using so far, it might be a good idea. Alternatively, simple projectiles of a weaker spell will be sufficient."[break][break]
First, the decoy. "Summoner Creation Magic: Wilhelm," Verena spoke as her grimoire flared to life.[break][break]
Earthern mana rose to life, building before the two a figure of earth that rose well above the height of Charles and Verena both, a giant. Named after the Wilhelm family known for their earth mana, Verena felt it an appropriate name given their colossal influence within Clover's land. It possessed a single glowing yellow eye with a heart mark upon its left chest cavity that matched. "Cyclops" might have been a more appropriate name than Wilhelm, but Verena didn't care all that much.[break][break]
"Wilhelm, defeat as many enemies as possible," she said.[break][break]
As a Guardian golem, its sensory was horrific. However, Verena was guiding it via the map towards the squirrels, standing behind it as it shielded her. Her eyes darted around, taking note of the direction of where the acorns were now coming from. They were on each side of the trees, with four additional spots roughly a maximum of 40 meters away from her current position.[break][break]
One of the acorns hit her golem, denting it. To her east. Another hit. West. East. West. West. West. Just like that, her golem had fallen. And now, she was the focus. And yet she wasn't at all worried. They were all focused on her after all. This was going to hurt, but...[break][break]
Chains suddenly launched from her grimoire, manifesting directly in front of her as they all went towards the direction of where she had managed to pinpoint their general directions. She had cast seven chains in total, with the full expectation that she would miss at least a few due to their own speed. They were all within 25 meters of her at this point, the furthest one being fifteen meters away. She was pelted by a few acorns, but it was worth it to get the mana.[break][break]
The last six years had been far worse on her body than mere magically enhanced acorns could ever do to her body. She didn't even flinch as they hit her head, shoulder, knees. This didn't even hurt; not compared to what was happening every day of her life.[break][break]
Because of this, Verena was able to make the most of the opportunity. She hadn't managed to hit them all; in fact, her chains only managed to connect with roughly four of them. However, the rodents locations current locations were all on full display. The chains had pierced them, though they hadn't hurt them. Verena had managed to gain quite a bit of mana back as well.[break][break]
"With that done..." Verena mused to herself.[break][break]
It was time to focus on drawing them out. Some were likely to fight back, but that was fine. Whatever survived, she could handle. Charles could handle what she could bring towards him, and she would see to it that whatever was left was gone. She explained this to him as well in a hushed tone.[break][break]
"Summoner Creation Magic: Phaunus," she said as she summoned a total of six of the golem fashioned akin to a wicker basket.[break][break]
At an imposing three meters tall, as well as there being six of them, they as tall as some of the trees present. Utilizing their size, they attempted to destroy the trees that the Chipperskee were hiding within per their command, tracking them based on the restraints that now perfectly showed their locations. The ones that were further back previously had even drawn in closer. And what the two they couldn't see were still perfectly visible on her map.[break][break]
Of course, some of the chipperskee fought back. They were able to bombard her golems with enough acorns with enough force that it began to destroy some of them. But not before three of the chipperskee themselves were now without physical hiding places, as well as her golems managing to take one out in the process between the chaos of the assault.[break][break]
Of the six, one had been defeated, and three were together, trying to scurry away into the trees even further. Her golems had all been defeated, however. There were still two more that were not visible, choosing to stay out of the fighting instead and immediately go out and hide, but it was still on the map. Verena would see to that one herself; the other three were for Charles to handle all at once. The brunette readied herself to make that happen.
Element: Earth[break]Rank: Intermediate[break]Size: 8m[break]Mana Cost: 20 | 10[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Wilhelm's name is taken from one of Clover's predominant Noble Families, named after their affinity for earth-related magic. It takes the form of a massive bipedal eight-meter tall giant made of solid rock and dirt. It has a single yellow eye with a matching yellow heart-shaped design located on the left part of it's chest.[break][break]The golem is capable of transporting up to two people at a time, though no speed loss occurs due to the lower speed it moves at compared to the 10m/s listed. Instead, it just moves at the standard six meters a second as listed. In addition, it receives a +1 to [DUR] as a result of Summoner bonus.[break][break]The golem has no real notable features about it other than it's size and durability and is in many ways similar to Verena's Gaia. However, its massive size offers it more range, as the giant bulking arms are nearly as tall as it itself is, increasing its range of attack to being seven meters. In addition, Wilhelm is far more powerful; a blow from its fists deal intermediate damage and are capable of sending opponents flying four meters, plus an additional five for every 10 [POW] it possesses.[break][break]For every 30 [CON], Verena is capable of summoning an additional Wilhelm, though it is largely just kept at one as a result of its massive size. Its fists when clenched are almost the size of the average fully grown man, just being a little shy of two meters. It may not be the most versatile, but it is effective all the same.[break]
Elemental Type: Carbon[break]Rank & Spell Type: Junior, Restraining[break]Range & Speed: 25m, 10m/s[break]Mana Cost: 10 cast, 5 sustain[break]Stats Effected: -10 Mana Regen[break]Applicable Perks: Mana Prison, Sapping Bonds[break]Description: Similar to Chains of the Past, Frenzied Chain Dance acts as a chain. Unlike Chains of the Past, however, this spell focuses on debuffing a target(s) mana and thus restoring her own. This chain is made up of a solid chain link of magic that has taken the form of carbon, and as such appears incredibly dense. These can materialize from anywhere in a [1m] vicinity around the user and can travel a distance of up to [25m], moving at [10m/s]. Of course, these chains are also under ammo rules, an additional chain being capable of being made for every 10 [CON] the user possesses.[break][break]If the chain(s) is able to make contact with a target(s), they impale the target, latching into them and directly attacking their bodies' ability to regenerate mana. This is painless and leaves no mark upon the bodies, giving that the impression that upon making contact with something with mana, they forfeit a physical form (to a limited degree). These chains are connected to the caster's own mana pool and as such siphon a portion (5) of what they're able to absorb and return it to the user.
Spell Element: Wood[break]Spell Rank: Junior[break]Mana Cost: 10 | 5[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Summoner Creation: Phaunus' Gift is made utilizing mana with Wood Affinity. The golem itself is incredibly simple in design. It's a humanoid golem made from wooden branches that have been smoothed out, and then banded together with more limber wood to hold it in place, like a wicker basket. The golem is incredibly basic and barebones in it's functionality, only punching and kicking to assail it's enemies. Still, due to it's simplicity, it is incredibly easy to control, and effective for most other tasks she may need them for.[break][break]Verena is able to create one (1) golem per ten (10) control she has at once, maxing at five.

As lazy as he was to do the most work out of everyone, Charles could relate strongly to Verena as to how one tired someone would feel after fighting for so long. Her body was not used to constant combat and in terms of appearance, she didn't seem like the type of person to exercise her body that much. The silver mage didn't want to risk her to possibly get herself injured, plus relaxing and slacking was always good. He was going to be one of the last people to blame the summoner mage for trying to take a break from fighting. Unless they were in a severe life or death situation, but that wasn't the case right now. The Black Bull expected the dungeon to get much difficult later on, from his own experience all dungeons had some sort of boss or someone in charge of it. So it was much better for Verena to conserve energy until they encounter the boss which would surely pose a threat to the two of them. If she found herself unable to fight by the time they encountered the boss then that would be very problematic for the two mages. Most of his time on that section of the area was focused on wiping out the enemies as quickly as possible. Verena spent most of her time resting and getting back her mana. After all the enemies were eliminated and there were no signs of any of those weird spores on their way. Charles made his way to the next area. [break][break] Floor 3, Area 2 [break][break] Charles took notice that Verena kept her previous map spell active. Which meant that she could warn him of any incoming threats and give him enough time to prefer for battle. As he traversed through the forest, he noticed that the trees were much bigger than they were when they first entered the Autumn area. The silver mage felt the sound of one of his feet stepping on an acorn shell that was originated from one of the branches from the trees above them. Suddenly, he turned to look at Verena as she spoke to him. Judging by the way she was talking it was obvious that the summoner mage had sensed that he was running low mana. Fighting constant waves of enemies were beginning to take a toll on him, although it wasn't that notable because he always made it seem as if he was tired, sleepy, or with no little energy in general. Anyway, it was obvious that constantly using magic and his mana reserves weren't infinite, nor he was an elf that possessed deep wells of mana. In fact, it got to the point that he was breathing a lot more often and heavily, if Verena was perceptive enough she would be able to notice that. "Gotcha... If you're right, as much as I don't wanna do it I'll have to get close just use my sword with no magic... I'll try to avoid using magic as much possible for the time being." He let out a sigh and stretched his arms, the dungeon was much more draining than he had initially anticipated. It was starting to take a toll on the two of them, but if his hypothesis was correct then they should be over with the dungeon soon. Soon after his comment, Verena proceeded to summon one of her golems, as some sort of decoy to lure out the enemies that were hiding in the trees and bushes. [break][break] Her earth golem began to take hits from the acorns that were being thrown by the squirrels. The earth golem was unfazed from the attacks of the squirrels and was a lot more durable than it looked like. Although he could that it wasn't as strong as her previous golems. It meant that she was still trying to reserve her mana. It seemed to be good enough for the time being so he didn't think too about it. Out of a sudden chains made out of carbon matter came out from her grimoire. A restraining spell, actually, they were several chains, but only managed to hit four of them. Still, it didn't matter, this slowed down the rodents that were rather fast. Especially in an area around trees and branches where they could move around. Another golem was made, much taller than the one before, and destroyed the trees in order to avoid any further damage from the squirrels. [break][break] Three of the squirrels were in a group together, which made it easier for him to get rid of. While he could use his spell to target all three of them at once, but it also had the possibility of making several of the trees in the area falling on them and possibly hitting both him and Verena. Charles moved forward to three squirrels that had been restrained by the summoner mage and attack them with his sword. He slashed forward managing to hit one of them with his blade and killing it instantly from the blunt damage it received from his sword. However other two remained which tried to use the surrounding bushes to ambush the silver mage. The two remaining squirrels jumped him, their small size made them hard to spot, but thanks to his Ki he was able to swiftly detect their ambush and react to them. The Black Bull slashed horizontally, slashing the two squirrels that had ambushed him at the same time. He was able to react just in time thanks to Ki, otherwise, it would've most likely worked. The squirrels were a pain in the ass to deal with due to their agility and small size, followed by the area that allowed them to hide if a mage didn't have the ability to sense their exact location. At least with that, only two squirrels remained. "Two remain..."

It was frustrating that despite her best efforts, she still ended up using about the same level of mana that she had been using normally. As a result, her mana regenerative abilities wouldn't have been bolstered much. But she had at least siphoned a substantial amount from what she had managed to secure, catching off the four closest squirrels off guard so that her chains would reach them.[break][break]
All things considered, Verena believed that much to be fairly lucky. The fact she had managed to hit even half of them was a pretty surprising occurrence, let alone over half -- even if just barely. Charles had managed to deal with the three, effectively just cutting them down. But it worked. And far be it for her to question otherwise.[break][break]
However, there was no way she could effectively fight against opponents without using magic. However, if she was going to do this, she might as well do it right. Verena took a deep breath.
"Summoner Creation Magic: Sonia" she calmly declared.[break][break]
A single skeleton-like golem was summoned. It was made from various instruments that made up its body, and it possessed sharp claw-like weapons that were from a lesser known instrument known as a dord. These would be simple enough to use to skewer the incoming enemies in this space. And so, that was the order. The squirrels were disposed of. They weren't even remotely close to being able to keep up with Sonia, who was almost twice as fast as they were. Both mana beasts were impaled cleanly through.[break][break]
With that, everything was finished, but...[break][break]
"Charles, let's take a moment to rest before we continue. If we keep pushing ourselves like this, we'll just be running on fumes. We can go over what we've seen so far and try to engage a plan going forward. Plus... I need to let my map spell recharge. It's not a spell I know naturally," she said, as she removed the coat from around her waist and put it back on.
Element: Sound[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 3m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Scout[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems, Ranged Golems[break]Description: Verena's newest sound golem is, for all intents and purposes, the culmination of what she has been trying to achieve. With excellent sensory skills that far outperform any of her current golems and their incredible speed, Sonia golems represent her first new type of golem: Scout golems.[break][break]Sonia golems take the form of a human skeleton; however there are many differences in the anatomy--rather, instead of bone, various types of metals make up its bones, but all ultimately make up a variety of instruments. The skull is covered in a hard material that offers enhanced protection, but brass encompasses most of it, and piano keys make up its teeth. Inside its mouth is a large sound amplifier that is connected to a large brass pipe that functions as a spine.[break][break]The golems 'ribs' are made up of a variety of pipes and Sonia's shoulders have cymbals protruding them ever so slightly like shoulder spaulders. The sternum looks like a series of clarinets melded together against the pipes, though the topmost pipes connect into these clarinets. Sonia's arms are made up of batons, and its hands are made up of smaller cymbals. Attached to these cymbals are instruments are known as dords.[break][break]Where a stomach would be exists a large drum protected by a series of steel pipes connected. Similar to Sonia's arms, the legs are made up musical batons, with knees that look like very small cymbals as well. Furthermore, it possesses feet that look cymbals and dord-like toes again.[break][break]These golems are incapable of being rid upon, but for every 50 [CON], Verena is capable of summoning an additional Sonia. In addition, these golems are capable of unleashing a sound wave that can reach up to [140m] from Verena's current position relative to their own. In other words, if they are [70m] from Verena, this sound wave is only capable of reaching up to seventy meters from their own position. This sound does not hurt Verena. However, anyone within [20m] will suffer [Intermediate] damage due to the area-of-effect nature of this spell, and these sounds travel at [20m/s].[break][break]Doing so grants the caster awareness of mana signatures nearby. However, this does not allow them to differentiate friend from foe. It does, however, allow them to figure out humans from animals, mana beasts, and other non-human entities (elven and dwarven characters still count as human). This 'scream' implants images in the user's head in a manner similar to echolocation, shaping outlines of the landscape and sending them back to the user. This is solely limited to entities that are not hiding their mana in some way. What the caster does with that information is entirely up to them.[break][break]Due to this ability, these golems are the ideal scouts. With superior range, sensory prowess and speed, information gathering is a breeze when it comes to dealing with her surroundings.[break]

[attr="class","glentext"] Charles had managed to use the least amount of mana if none at all in eliminating the squirrels. He had to conserve it and wait for it to regenerate. The dungeon resulted in being a lot more taxing than he had initially expected with multiple enemies coming towards them without catching much of a break. It was much more dangerous than one would expect, despite the place looking quite peaceful and beautiful. Any lower-ranking mage would probably struggle, if not die in this place. It was the truth, as even at his level he was struggling with the constant battles. It also served as a reminder for the Black Bull that he had to improve if he wanted to take on daemons at some point. The two mages were successful in eliminating the squirrels which were more of a pain in the ass than a threat because of their small size and ability to move around the trees with ease. The silver mage simply slashed three of the squirrels with his sword instead of using its ability. It was best for him to not use any magic at all, although he would normally not prefer to get all close and personal. It was necessary for the sake of conserving his mana. [break][break] After Verena eliminated the last squirrel using her golem. That was rather different from the rest but still enough to get the job done. The summoner mage's golem was much faster and stronger than the squirrel. With that out of the way, they were able to get a small break from the enemies. Charles didn't sense or see any other enemies nearby so the area was now clear. The silver mage turned to look at Verena, she suggested taking a moment to rest before moving on to the area. The deeper they went into the dungeon the more complicated things got. Although the enemies didn't seem to be much stronger than the previous ones, they struggled because of how tired they were. Without being able to use their strongest spells then things would be much complicated. "Sounds good... We'll probably get ourselves killed if we keep moving like this. Considering how this dungeon is... I take it that the next place after this would be something like Winter. So it's going to get much colder soon." He agreed with Verena's suggestion. It was unwise for them to keep moving like this, especially when he was running out of mana and she wasn't the type of person to do a lot of physical exercises. If they didn't take this chance to rest, it could possibly get them killed if they somehow found themselves unable to rest or use their stronger spells when they got deeper into the dungeon. Charles was also concerned about Verena as she didn't seem like the type of person to be in her top condition physically. Well, he wasn't either, but the fact that she walked slower than most people made him believe that maybe she had issues. He didn't know exactly, maybe she had issues with her legs or was sick. Since they were in a dungeon, he preferred not to ask about it and focus on the matter at hand. [break]

Charles agreed to take a rest, which was perfect. Though she had little reason to doubt that he would decline, it was also just as possible that he would have wanted to keep treking forward. Personally, she didn't believe that he was lazy. There was very little reason to believe it, after all. From the very beginning, he had demonstrated a very proactive nature, even agreeing to spar her when he was significantly stronger just to help.[break][break]
Charles, in her eyes, was not lazy. He was simply the sort who preferred to work smarter, not harder. And there was nothing wrong with that in her eyes. If anything, it was a commendable quality, one that others -- herself included -- would benefit from if they took time to just think about it.[break][break]
Of course, that was neither here nor there. Verena took a seat, sitting down with her legs folded on the grass as she looked up at Charles. "So far, we've encountered places in this forest that represent the seasons. Spring, Summer, and we're currently in Autumn. Winter is safely next," Verena began to say.[break][break]
"It's hard to know what we can expect going forward beyond that. Well, that, and we can assume the temperature will match. Thanks to Ardere, I can create a simple golem that will be incapable of fighting in any capacity. It won't have any protective ability whatsoever. I can have it loom over us both. That should help if it's cold enough to be necessary," she said.[break][break]
So far, the two had encountered a new 'season' every two clearings. To that end, Verena was sure that that much would be the next result. Even still, she knew there was no point in jumping to conclusions, either. The dungeon might have as well only just started now that they had a better of what they were dealing with.[break][break]
"For that reason, when it comes to winter, I'd like to be responsible for the offense. If you can handle the defense, that would be a blessing," Verena said. "Ardere's magic will be best for that."[break][break]
Verena stretched, before laying on her back as she looked up at the looming trees. "The Basin really is a beautiful place. This dungeon's most terrifying when you underestimate it. It really reminds me of the natural world. People often overestimate their own abilities and skill. We think ourselves superior to primordial forces that existed well before we did. I'm not saying you or me specifically -- though we clearly underestimated this place. But..."[break][break]
Verena frowned, letting a soft sigh escape her.[break][break]
"I used to be terrified of people. No... that's not quite right. I still am. Arrogance leads people down the wrong path. And the fall... it usually takes a lot of people down with them. If I ever become full of myself, knock me down a peg or two, Charles. Okay?" she asked.
"I'm technically a noble, too. And I fully intend to return to my family one day and guide them to greatness. They're all truly deplorable people. But they're desperate. Scared. It's going to be like trying to polish one of the oldest stains on Clover. I don't know what to expect in the future. But I hope I never lose track of my ultimate goal."

[attr="class","glentext"] Nowadays Charles's laziness was partially a front to cover up his own personal thoughts, although it was true that the laziness was a part of his true personality. It wasn't all about it, he had his own set of goals, opinions, and ideals that he hoped to accomplish one day. After his experience in Kikka, the silver mage would often try to take a more proactive approach to avoid any further issues. It was all about making his job easier, if they were issues that could be avoided in the future by taking a different approach to things then he would most definitely go for that. At the end of the day, he just wanted to help his others and do his job. He was aware of how others struggle as he did, he never particularly bothered to help others as long as they asked for it and weren't rude about it. As in being polite and not act like an entitled noble. Work smarter, not harder seemed the best way to describe it. Charles never truly understood why people politely worked their asses off when they were more effective and easier ways to get things done. That's how humanity advanced and improved, they found much easier and effective ways to obtain certain things. That's why people use brooms to travel instead of walking, it was much faster and less tiring than walking. [break][break] "Sounds about right..." He replied and nodded in response to Verena's comment. The two mages appeared to share the same thoughts about what was going to be next after they finished the Autumn area. It was hard to think what was going to be ahead of them in the next area, different enemies for sure, but their abilities and appearances were unknown to him. This was followed by another comment that she was able to create a fire golem to keep the two warm in the Winter area where it was going to get cold. For things like this, Verena's magic was extremely versatile and capable of adapting to any situation as long as she taught. "Got it... Your magic is really versatile when it comes to things like this." He could count on one of her golems keeping them warm. It could get worse if it was too cold for them to properly fight. The summoner mage wanted to focus on the offensive when they get to the Winter area. Her reason was justified and it worked for him, this would allow him to focus on defense and protect the two with his spells. "Works for me, you can handle the enemies we encounter there, then." [break][break] After the two laid out the plans for the next area, Charles turned to look at their surroundings. It was one of the few times he could look at them peacefully without the purpose of looking for any enemies that may be hidden. "There's more than meets the eye. Which further proves that you shouldn't judge by its cover... A good way to put it, well this place is certainly a lot more dangerous than I had initially expected. So your comment is right." Verena's comment had truth in it, the Basin, while beautiful and peaceful. It had a different side which could be dangerous for anyone who may attempt to underestimate it. One of the reasons why humans underestimate things is because they overestimate their own abilities. "That's true... Don't worry, I'll make sure to knock some sense to you if it ever happens, you can count on me." He smiled in response to her comment, if she requested him to do that then he would get it done without thinking twice. At times, people required to be knocked some sense to go back to the right path. Nobody was perfect and all humans were capable of committing mistakes. [break][break] "You're a noble, huh? Well, your outfit gives it off. In times like this, it's easy for people to fall into desperation... Well, I know a thing or two about being from somewhere that has a very bad reputation, heh. Out of all squads, the Black Bulls have the worst reputation, but there's more than meets the eye. They're all strange, but ultimately good people with good intentions. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to achieve your goal. I have my own set of goals as well..." He let out a brief laugh followed by a smile, if there was anyone who knew about coming from a place with a very bad reputation was him. Just the mention of the Black Bulls would make most people think that trouble is coming. The silver mage personally believed that people overexaggerated whatever the squad did, they just did things differently from the rest of the squads. After the brief talk, Charles stood up and stretched both of his arms. He was fully rested up and ready to go. "...Let's get moving to the next area, shall we? [break][break] After having a rather interesting talk with Verena while they took a break to regain their mana. Charles began to make his way to the next area. Now he didn't have to worry about his mana running low. Thanks to the break, he was now able to use his strongest spells to get rid of any enemies ahead of them if it was necessary. The silver mage would still be careful in he used his mana, though. Perhaps after the two finished the dungeon they could talk again, who knows. For time being, it was best for them to complete the dungeon. If he really wanted to, he could spend hours talking, but he wanted to get this done before he got too lazy to do so. The new area was much bigger compared to the other two within the Autumn area. The grass was much taller, reaching close to his knees, it was windy. As he continued walking around the area, wary in the event of any enemies showing up. A large oak tree was spotted in front of him, much taller than the rest trees in the area. At the base of it was a creature that took the appearance of a deer. The Fall Guardian opened his eyes and approached the group. For the first time, one of the beasts from the dungeon spoke and seemingly addressed the two. "Visitors with the desire to see this place and clear it, I think..." Charles replied to the Fall Guardian's comment which was followed by the appearance of other mana beasts. [break][break] "Great... Seems like we have company. I'll leave those to you, Verena." He said, as he could hear and sense the movement of other mana beasts approaching their position. His best guess was that the Fall Guardian had summoned them. Some of them to which the two had fought before. The silver mage was going to handle the Fall Guardian. His grimoire came out of his holster and floated next to him, two shields made out of silver were formed in front of both Charles and Verena, they floated in front of the two mages, with sparks of electricity coming out of them every now and then. The Fall Guardian was the first one to attack him, stomping its feet and shaking the ground below him. The Black Bull was able to feel that through Ki and quickly got away from the area that began to shake, the ground below it collapse. He wanted to wait for an opening to take down the Fall Guardian when he had the chance to do so. Charles attempted to close the gap between the two, sent a gust of wind towards him in an attempt to push him. Fortunately for him, the gust of wind was blocked by his shield right in front of him, dealing senior damage to the shield instead. This was his chance to defeat the Fall Guardian. The silver mage moved to the left and rushed the guardian while he was vulnerable. The Fall Guardian attempted to send another gust of wind which broke his shield but was enough of an opening he needed. "Silver Shards." Charles extended his hand, sparks of electricity coming off of it as multiple small shards made out of silver made their way towards the Fall Guardian's torso and penetrated through its body. Once defeated, its body began to crumble into autumn leaves which were then blown away by the wind. For the most part, he didn't like getting close and personal, but it was necessary to cover the gap between him and the Fall Guardian considering it was quite fast. Now he awaited for Verena to finish off the remaining enemies in order to move onto the next area. [break]

Before they arrived before the Fall Guardian and its companions, Verena thought of the last of their conversation before they advanced. The Bull brought up her magic's versatility, causing her to smile slightly. That sort of praise was one that she truly was grateful for. It made her feel as though she was becoming a complete mage, despite the limitations that plagued her. It didn't feel like it was that long ago where she blamed her grimoire -- her four-leafed grimoire -- on being a curse. Because if it, it had caused Renfir to lash out at her, and had set her down this path. But looking at it in another light, she had near unmatched versatility, arguably only bested only by the rare magic that was Immitation.[break][break]
"Yes, well... I still have a long ways to go. I've only managed to acquire nine elements. There's still so much more to learn. But even still, thank you," she said.[break][break]
Charles agreed with her assessment of this dungeon. She wasn't belittling either of them, of course. But she was reminding them -- mostly herself, in truth -- not to let her guard lowered as she had thus far. The pixie had most certainly been a daunting task because she had underestimated this place. And it was almost too late. The brunette had gotten incredibly lucky all things considered. Charles and she both did. That they were strong enough to handle the threat before the poison took effect.[break][break]
Verena was happy that Charles agreed to her request, in truth. While she didn't think it likely, it was very difficult to know what the future would hold. She didn't trust people, and at times that included herself. At large, the noble region was filled with some deplorable people. Having to insert herself back into that fold, Verena knew that it was going to be difficult to try to stay the same while dealing with people like that. But ... she still earnestly believed she could remain the same as she was as long as she practiced self-awareness diligently, as she had been doing for some time.[break][break]
Charles brought up the Black Bulls image. Yes, she supposed that was true. Even she was uneasy when she first met him. He noted that his squadmates might have been a little... strange, but all good people. Verena bowed her head, practically in shame. It wouldn't take an expert in ki to figure out what was going through her head. She wished she could say the same about her family. That their desperation to become relevant was redeemable. That they were all good people, deep down. But she couldn't. Her family was a byproduct of the worst aspects of the Noble Region.[break][break]
It had broken them for the most part. For generations, her family at large must have been like this. They could practically feel the tug on their status. They thought that they could ride on the coattails of a long since the deceased king. Probably, the only reason they still had their status was the earnesty in which this king of what was practically ancient history seemed to acknowledge Aethril, as well as the Royal Family not showing much interest in the Reinsberg at large. Renfir almost cost them everything.[break][break]
But she was their scapegoat instead.[break][break]
"...I hope you're able to fulfill your goal as well," she said, offering a weak smile of encouragement. Her thoughts were placed elsewhere, which made it difficult to truly show her earnesty, but it was obvious from her ki that she at least meant what she was saying.
Their rest had ended. Verena didn't have an interest in talking about things further -- mostly because the conversation of her family was a particularly bitter one, and so the two moved towards the next room. What surprised her more than anything was the lack of colder temperature. Had she been wrong then? Well, it wasn't as if the plan needed to change. The temperature was more or less the same as what it had been. The leaves were still present, dyed in oranges, reds, and yellows with no sense of green.[break][break]
What was surprising was the fact that the trees parted of their own volition. Some sort of otherwordly force forced them to move to let the two get through. How curious... The two went through it, arriving at a space with knee-high grass. It made movement a little difficult, but what was more surprising was the fact the grass matched the leaves. Reds, yellows, oranges... they all littered the space, reminding her of a gentle flame.[break][break]
More of the squirrel mana beasts as well as the mushroom creatures that they had encountered so far were present, but they made no moves. A near monstrous-sized buck appeared before the two, taking a stand before the two upon an elevated platform of the earth in the center of the giant oak tree and creatures. It asked a simple question. "Who are you travelers, to take the path not taken?"[break][break]
Truthfully, Verena wasn't sure how to answer. She only wanted to learn more. Learn more about this dungeon. She wanted to learn more about the forest. Learn more about dungeons, period. But Charles was the first to answer. However, no sooner did he answer did he jump on the attack. Verena couldn't blame him; there was no point in taking any risks. But now her curiosity had been piqued. Well, it couldn't be helped. Now was the time to fight.[break][break]
"Summoner Creation Magic: Terra," she said as she glanced around. Five enemies. Charles was engaged with the buck -- the presumable boss of this dungeon.[break][break]
Wait. Boss?[break][break]
They hadn't hit Winter yet. Something wasn't quite... right. Come to think of it, not only was this abnormal for being the area when the other two seasons only had two rooms, it was the first one that had an abnormality in the form of a talking creature. It seemed this dungeon still had plenty of surprises left. It would be foolish to assume that they had managed to truly grasp what it was going on here. But... well, she would see what would happen.[break][break]
Terra, being a massive twelve-meter tall construct that stood behind Verena easily dwarfed everything in this space. If this golem had legs Charles and she would only measure up to its shins. However, for the squirrels? They were lucky to measure up to Terra's ankles. Its fist was more than capable of causing considerable damage to anything in its path. The mushrooms were about as tall as Charles and Verena, a little bit shorter. But they wouldn't escape what Verena had planned so easily.[break][break]
"Launch," Verena said, her targets being the squirrels.[break][break]
A single fist. Six meters in diameter, moving at twenty meters a second. The entire arm was as large as the body itself was, and as it drove into the ground, all three squirrels were crushed under the massive weight. The mushrooms were nowhere near as agile but were out of range for the attack. However...[break][break]
"Swat," Verena said.[break][break]
Using the other arm, the golem was able to effortlessly crush the mushrooms with substantial force, smacking them down into the earth as though they were flies. The sheer force of it all was truly terrifying as she simply remained still, calm. She wouldn't underestimate this dungeon. She wouldn't treat it any differently. For as much as the two had learned, Verena realized they hadn't learned enough. And that was dangerous in a dungeon-like this. Her eyes were focused. Prepared.[break][break]
"That should be everything," Verena said as the hand of her golem returned back in place, lowering so that she could climb on top of it.[break][break]
"Shall we continue? she asked, raised two meters off the ground so that she was roughly still level with the Magic Knight. However, once they did arrive in the winter aspect of the forest, she dismissed it so that she could properly use her magic, readying her fire golem, Bestimmung.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena rocket punches some fuckin squirrels and swats some shrooms, nbd[break][break]
Element: Earth[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 12 meters[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems, Ranged Golems[break]Description: Terra takes the form of a colossal entity made of solid earth and stone. However, it's broken up into three parts--the main body and two massive floating arms. The arms each make up the bulk of its mass and are measured at [12m] in height. The main body is roughly [8m] in its own height and lacks legs; thus, it is in a constant state of floating. This is the most advanced type of golem Verena has made thus far, and it is without question her most durable. A yellow heart-shape can be seen in the center of its chest.[break][break]There are several advantages to this design for Verena. The first major advantage lies in it the fact the body operates as something akin to a control terminal... not that there exists something in Clover Kingdom akin to that. The arms exist more as weapons; they can still be destroyed, of course, and if they are destroyed this golem offers no functionality beyond serving as a wall for the caster. It is incapable of doing anything other than floating at [12m/s], even if used as transportation for up to [3] people.[break][break]Like many of Verena's golems, this golem is capable of raw physical strength that is capable of sending opponents back considerable distance; for every 10 [POW] that this golem possesses, it is capable of sending knocking a target back by up an additional [5m] with a base value of [8m].[break][break]However, this golem is the first of hers that is capable of ranged attacks by using up more mana -- specifically, by paying half of the cost of the spell -- a skill she was sorely lacking in before. These giant fists that are floating alongside the golem are its primary and only weapons. At command, these fists can be launched at [20m/s] reaching a distance of up to [40m]. In addition, the general damage output of these falls accordingly, only dealing [Intermediate] damage with strong blunt force. However, she can only launch one fist at a time. After which, if it makes contact with anything, including the target itself, defensive constructs, golems, or even part of the landscape itself, it returns back to the main body at similar speeds to when it was launched.[break][break]However, if these fists are used within the [12m] of the main body--their maximum range of attack, it is capable of unleashing its full [Senior] damage.[break][break]These fists are very human-like--they can grab things, pull, et cetera. Anything a human hand is capable of, so are these.[break]

[attr="class","glentext"] It was obvious that Verena's magic was quite unique, at least that's how he thought of it. There was no way someone would be able to have access to nine elements. At most a mage was only able to use two elements, but she was able to use up to nine and learn more. Versatility and the ability to adapt to multiple situations were important. People would often overlook that, but with so many elements, she could adapt to almost any situation and use the element that would fit best. "Yep... That applies to both of us..." He agreed with her comment, it was the truth and the truth applied to both of them respectively. The future was uncertain, but that was no reason to give up on his objectives. The two appeared to share the same opinion in regards to the true nature of the dungeon. It was obvious at this point, given the changes in the environments and the different types of mana beasts they had encountered so fast. [break][break] Everyone was wary about the Black Bulls, they were known for their destructive nature and squad members who had rather strange personalities. Nobody would want to be around them and most people looked down on them for being a bunch of weirdos. There was no discrimination in the squad, it didn't matter how strange you were, you wouldn't be looked down on by others in the squad. It didn't matter if the person was a noble or commoner, everyone was equal. Charles would probably have a hard time if he was in another squad with his current personality and how he approached his job. He was lazy and most of the time unmotivated to do any work unless he really had to. If it wasn't thanks to the Black Bulls, then he wouldn't be the same person he is today. From what he could tell, Verena's personality was a byproduct of her family's actions and she wanted to change. She wanted to be different and prove it to everyone else. There was nothing wrong with that. The silver mage didn't particularly believe he had to prove anything to everyone else, but he knew that Verena was different and her life was different from his. He was not in his position to judge and only wished her the best of luck on her objectives. [break][break] After taking on the Fall Guardian who proved to be much stronger compared to the rest of the beasts they encountered. It was faster, stronger and its attacks were much more dangerous. Although, nothing he had encounter would be as annoying as the spritely that they encountered during the Summer area. Since he left Verena to handle the other reinforcements the Fall Guardian had called, it allowed the silver mage to focus on the mini-boss without any interruptions while the summoner mage handled the other enemies with her golems in order to move on to the next area. The size of her golem was impressive, compared to it, the squirrels were just mere ants for it to squash. Her golem ultimately made quick work of them without any major issues. After the area was cleared he turned to look at Verena and nodded. "Yeah... Let's get going. I have a feeling this wasn't exactly the boss we were expecting. It's possible something stronger lies ahead..." He said, he didn't really believe that the Fall Guardian was the final boss. Sure, it was stronger than the previous mana beasts they encountered and was able to talk, but it wasn't that strong to the point someone would say it was the dungeon's boss. Aside from the fact that there were still areas of the dungeon that had to be explored. It felt almost too easy... [break][break] Floor 4, Area 1 [break][break] With the defeat of the Fall Guardian, the rest of the leaves in the area began to fall. The air began to turn colder, the temperature was significantly dropping. The defeat of the Fall Guardian marked the end of Autumn and the start of Winter. The place felt a lot colder, which was a good time for Verena to use one of her fire golems to keep them warm, otherwise, it could make things problematic for them. His coat helped him to stay warm for a bit, but it wasn't enough. What he was wearing wasn't exactly for a climate like Winter. After all, he came to the dungeon not expecting that, so they could freeze if they stayed for too long without a proper fire. "Now might be a good time to use that fire golem... It was so cold to the point he was able to see his own breath due to the low temperature. At this point he couldn't tell what was worse cold or heat, it was a hard decision to make, but probably he was going to go for summer as it wasn't as hot and he could easily solve the heat problems by taking off his coat. The cold however was another case for him. [break][break] The next was quite big, bigger than the ones before. Charles walked through the area, the snow made it slightly hard to move around. Thankfully, once Verena had summoned her fire golem it cleared any sort of issues for them. It made walking around the place much easier as the heat from the golem evaporated any nearby snow in front of them. It was quiet, with the only thing being heard was the sound of the wind and his steps as he traversed through the snowy area. It pretty much felt desolated without any signs of life compared to the previous areas that were filled with lives and all sorts of animals that could be heard and seen. Normally, during this season animals tended to hibernate in order to survive the Winter season. This meant that the animals entered a state where their metabolism and body temperature lowered in order to conserve their energy during the Winter where food was scarce. Eventually, he spotted an area of the forest that had a pile of rolling hills in the meadow. The Black Bull briefly looked down to find several pawprints, it was clearly an animal, probably a fox or something like that as those were only animals that would roam around forests during this season. The pawprints lead to multiple burrows to which several foxes came out as if they were waiting to ambush someone. "Seems like we have some enemies... I'll let you handle those." Charles said, staying back and keeping his distance. Following his previous arrangement with Verena, he was going to let her golems do the job. This was a good chance to regain the mana lost in the previous encounter. He was definitely going to join whenever the boss showed up, though. [break]

"You're probably right," Verena began when Charles noted that the dungeon wasn't quite finished.[break][break]
It was a little too simple, but... Verena didn't like not knowing what to expect. She never did. She was the sort of person who always liked to know what she was getting herself into. Or at the very least, of what to expect. Her magic was versatile, yes. But being a jack of all trades did not make one a master. Preparation was ideal in that sense. It would be difficult to master every element that she had at her disposal compared to the likes of Ardere and others.[break][break]
The moment the temperature began to drop with the biting winds, Verena wasted no time in conjuring up a golem of fire; Charles wouldn't even get a chance to complain about it. Two, in fact. These golems were more like coats that loomed over the two. Flame radiated off of it, but these flames were contained. Controlled. Just like Ardere had shown her. The heat it offered was nowhere near as potent as she could make it, but instead offered the two a gentle warmth amid the quickly dropping temperature.[break][break]
These flaming coat-like golems that followed the two were given a simple command: they were to follow Verena and Charles and were not allowed to ever let them get out of distance. They were required to always stay within a certain distance of them to ensure that warmth. As long as they remained in this winter wonderland, that was all they had to do. They weren't going to be capable of fighting anything. They weren't going to be capable of defending them from anything. These "golems" were more like simple constructs of the magic -- it's absolute most basic that even beginner golem users could form -- no different than something any normal fire mage could use.[break][break]
Though a coat was how Verena would have personally described it, it was perhaps more accurate to refer to them as flaming capes that floated around the user. They did not touch either mage, but the fire was enough to keep them warm. That was incredibly important; it wouldn't take a genius to figure out why. All one had to do was look around at the snow that had fallen all around. Gone were the leaves. Gone was the fauna. All that remained was an empty white space with bare trees, incapable of defending themselves.[break][break]
As the two drew deeper in the Four Seasons' Winter domain, Verena took notice of some tracks. However, there was a silence that completely dwarfed the domain, causing her to stop. She didn't like it. She didn't like this silence. And Charles probably didn't, either. However, as she looked around, everything seemed so... serene. The heiress couldn't help but wonder what that said about society... about people. Though she pondered briefly about the possible meaning that could be derived from this -- this unease that came from silence -- she decided to put it away in a mental compartment. She would think about it later.[break][break]
Verena took a deep sigh. This space was much larger than what she expecting. "Charles," the brunette began to say. "I'm going to rely on you for more than just defense. It's unlikely, but we can't afford a forest fire. If you see a fire begin to start, even if it likely won't get far, it's best to drown it. If you haven't used any mana and you see a fire starting, don't risk it and use your magic to try to smother it. If that still won't work, I have another option. But I'd rather avoid it if I can."[break][break]
Once more, Bestimmung had manifested. It was significantly smaller than Terra; only reaching two hundred centimeters. Though it was taller than both Verena and Charles, it was by no means absurd in scale. In fact, one could possibly argue that it was the most realistic golem in terms of size that she had summoned -- at least, that anyone would have seen. It was clear that the woman practiced quite diligently with her golemancy; the fact she was able to seemingly effortlessly control a construct like Terra earlier was proof that she was skilled in her craft.[break][break]
"That said..."[break][break]
Verena glanced towards the tracks on the ground, making sure that Bestimmung was a significant distance away from them so as to keep the tracks fresh. "Bestimmung, follow these pawprints to wherever they lead. If you find any creatures, 'Shoot' the moment they're in range. Prioritize evasion, but ensure to eliminate as many as possible," Verena said, giving a command to her construct.[break][break]
There was no delay. The order had been given, it had been finished. As a construct that solely existed to obey commands, Bestimmung raced off in the distance, following them as it moved at almost twenty meters a second. It didn't take too long; just about three seconds worth of traveling had it arrive at the cave where the culprits were at. And immediately, the battle began as it outstretched its hand the moment that the creatures seemed to be aware of its presence.[break][break]
Red-hot flames flooded twenty meters worth of the area, creating a sea of flames amidst the once tranquil emptiness. Howls filled the air, tipping Verena off that some sort of canine-like creatures were engaged in a battle with Bestimmung. Verena tried moving during this time, moving forward along with Charles (presumably).[break][break]
The foxes attempted to use their illusions on her golem, but Bestimmungs sensory was simply too high. It had already managed to best four of the foxes with that surprise attack, leaving only two remaining. Verena wasn't moving at a hurried pace, as she had a general idea of what was going on as a result of the mana tether between her and Bestimmung.[break][break]
An eerie blue light moved towards Bestimmung, who jumped back with an agility that would make one think of Valo Starrk, avoiding the attack. Another of the freezer foxes took this chance to pounce on Bestimmung, who responded by grabbing the creature's head, smashing it into the ground as it emit flames from its body to burn the creature as if the impact wasn't bad enough. It was best to be sure. After which, it grabbed the carcass as it tossed it towards the other fox.[break][break]
Verena was, of course, keeping an eye on the creatures. She was surprised at how similar these foxes were to actual foxes. Their attack patterns were mostly the same as what she had seen. The other fox had taken this chance to try to run away, but...[break][break]
Bestimmung was faster. It caught up with minimal effort as it delivered a punishing kick to the creature that sent it flying, arriving just in front of Verena and Charles. The impact was brutal, causing Verena to frown. She didn't like this. She didn't want this. But she couldn't afford to underestimate this dungeon further. The creature dispersed into mana, becoming part of the winter climate.[break][break]
"...I wish we didn't have to defeat things in this dungeon to be able to continue," Verena said, sighing. It was clear this was depressing her. "The Ryuutei's clan head -- I consider him a dear friend. Satori Ryuutei. He and his clan are fierce believers in not letting anything dead go to waste. I don't have the skill he does for crafting, nor could I eat the way they do. But killing like this is..." Verena stopped, letting out a sigh.[break][break]
"Part of me almost wishes that this was like the other dungeons. I could at least take some sort of solace in that I'm doing the right thing, or something," she said as she continued onward to catch up with her golem. There were no fires in sight. Bestimmung's fire had managed to melt the snow, but with how cold everything was, as well as the water that came to be from the melted snow, it was enough to cause it to melt. There weren't any trees nearby, and the cave, which was mostly rock, wasn't capable of offering enough oxygen.[break][break]
There was, however, a small spark that could potentially grow out of hand, though it seemed as though it could die out at any second. Still, Verena wasn't willing to take any chances. "Extinguish that flame," she said as she looked towards Bestimmung. Fight fire with fire; though in this case, its solid form was enough to handle it before it could get out of hand. "Now, shall we continue?" Verena asked.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena comits genocide with a fire golem in the winter area against foxes, ig. uses bestimmung to burn down four out of the six at once before they realize what's going on. brutilizes one and yeets another lmaoooo.[break][break]
Element: Fire[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 9m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems, Ranged Golem[break]Description: Bestimmung's source of inspiration comes from two different people. Valo Stark, and of course, the man who taught her fire magic -- Ardere Kasai. With the Royal Knight Exams upcoming, she sincerely felt the need to create something amazing despite struggling beforehand with a source of inspiration. And so she got to work with its creation.[break][break]The first matter of business that Verena felt was prudent in its creation was that this golem needed to be able to contain the fire, rather than be in a constant state of the inferno. To that end, Bestimmung resembles a tall, humanoid figure made up of coal. Make no mistake though, this golem can and will emit enough heat to set itself ablaze when engaging in combat scenarios. In fact, when fighting does happen, it creates a flaming cape and waist cloth born of the inferno that made it, and its body lights up in accordance to the temperature.[break][break]This coal seems to serve as an armor -- a testament to Verena's durable golems [Reinforced Golems]. This "armor" is adorned as a headpiece across its head, with finely shaped coal lodging out around the neck and shoulders to give it an intimidating look. A chest piece is adorned as well, with charcoal-like markings on it to look the part of flame -- this is, of course, not charcoal, but rather it was simply burned into this piece, as are the ornate pieces going down the sternum and hip around the hips and shoulders. Something resembling a belt is adorned across Bestimmung's waist as are more pieces of charcoal armor -- a testament again to Verena's desire to make durable golems.[break][break]What makes this golem unique is that there were two sources of inspiration for it. Taking in the best of what she learned from both Valo Starrk and Ardere Kasai. As with most golems, this golem is proficient in short-range attacks. When engaging in short-range battle, this golem emits a blue hue and that does seem to be its constant state. It uses its powerful punches and kicks to deal with enemies, dealing [Senior] damage and each hit leaves burns befitting of such. It is capable of striking with enough force to knock back whomever it hits with its melee attacks per knockback rules. This golem prefers to grab onto its opponents and use its whole body to emit heat capable of damage if it manages to grab someone. This blue flame was inspired by Valo Starrk.[break][break]This golem is capable of shooting out fire as well from the palm of its hands. It doesn't take much for it to achieve this, and as such as soon as the command "Shoot" is given, its hand glows with a vibrant red and yellow color before a blast of fire is shot out up to [20m], covering everything directly in front of the golem in that range in heat capable of dealing [Intermediate] damage, and burns of equal intensity. This is not a full circle AOE, but instead only covers everything within that designated AOE in a cone-like fashion, thus not endangering allies who are directly next to or behind Bestimmung. Most importantly to Verena, as these fires are only temporary and cannot be sustained, they are incapable of causing any large-scale fires, burning out quickly after their initial attack.[break][break]Like most golems, additional ones be made via ammo rules, capping out at a total of three additional ones. However, these golems are ill-suited to being used as transportation and as such are not used as such. In addition, this golem is incapable of dealing more than [Senior] damage to a single target.

[attr="class","glentext"] The heat coming from Verena's fire golem was a blessing at the moment. His body felt warm and relaxed from the heat that the fire golem emitted. Considering how cold it was and he didn't even have winter clothing on him. The only reason he didn't have any issues was because of his mana skin protecting his body from any outside harm, but the cold was still felt. However the fire golem the summoner mage had summoned solved all of their issues. Truly a blessing and he was thankful for that, it seemed like Verena had commanded the two golems to stick close to them as a way to protect them from the low temperatures in the place. The heat that they emitted clear the path of snow as it was quickly evaporated allowing for better movement. The flames were controlled, making sure not to completely burn the entire place, but it was gentle. They acted more like a shield, barrier, or coat of sorts that protected them from the effects of the hazardous environment they were in. This made it seem as if they were heading towards the last parts of the dungeon. Which were normally the most dangerous and the weather just confirmed it. [break][break] The Winter seasons, compared to the previous ones were quite silent, devoid of life. Charles couldn't even sense any lifeforms in his surroundings. It felt as if something was missing, it partially makes sense since it was the Winter season. Maybe his Ki wasn't able to fully sense the energy of the hibernating animals nor did it reach any particular areas that had any sort of living creatures. Anyway, the silence wasn't something he was particularly fond of. Verena had told him to deal with any fires causes by her fire golems. While any fires were unlikely to occur during this season, he didn't underestimate the power of her fire golems. So in case something catches on fire he was just going to put some snow on top of it to get rid of it or just use his own magic. From previous experiences he was able to tell that silence wasn't normally a good sign, the enemy was bound to attack at some point. His previous thought was right, after that, it didn't take long for the two of them to encounter some of the wildlife that was active during this season. Following their previous plan, the silver mage stood back and allowed Verena to handle the enemies ahead of them. He stayed back and remained on guard. If one of the enemies got too close to her then he would use one of his spells to shield her from the incoming danger while she was focused on ordering her golems to attack. After all the enemies were defeated and the area was clear, he turned to look at Verena who appeared to be in a bad mood by sensing her. She probably wasn't fond of any of this and was practically forced to do so to ensure the safety of the two of them. [break][break] "Well... I would also prefer not to have fight anything to advance, but it's not like we have much of a choice..." He sighed, he could relate to Verena in a way. All of this seemed unnecessary and the only reason they were fighting was for self-defense purposes. Of course, it was very likely that the wildlife of the dungeon saw them as intruders and they were just defending their home. Even though they weren't doing anything to damage until they started attacking. "If you don't really like the idea of doing anything to them. Then I can handle it from here on out, I'm not sure if it would make much of a difference, but eh... I'm pretty sure there's more of them, so." Charles had offered to handle it next time if Verena didn't feel like doing so. It's not like he was particularly fond of killing wildlife because he believed it to be unnecessary, but he was more neutral about it, unlike her case where she felt bad about herself. After their brief conversation, the silver mage took pushed some snow using his magic and placed it on top of the fire extinguishing it. "Yeah, let's keep going..." [break][break] Floor 4, Area 2 [break][break] Following the path through the forest after their previous encounter with some of the mana beasts that were still active during the Winter season. Charles had a good feeling that those weren't the only beasts and wildlife active during Winter. Out of all the seasons they were presented, Winter was probably the most dangerous one for multiple reasons. One of them was the low temperatures that they were exposed to, but such an issue was easily handled by Verena's fire golem. If it wasn't for that, then they would probably be having a lot more issues and be much more vulnerable to the rough weather. His mana skin only protected his body from sustaining any sort of damage from the weather, but it didn't mean he wasn't going to be affected by the weather itself. As the two came across the riverbank that had been turned into ice by the lower temperatures he turned to Verena. "Let's be careful here." He said as a warning, it was unknown to them if only the top layer was frozen. With enough force, they could probably break the ice on the top and fall into the water. Additionally, it was slippery if they didn't watch their movements they could easily slip. The Winter was surely a bigger pain in the ass than the previous seasons, they didn't have to deal with that many environmental threats. [break][break] Suddenly a loud growl could be heard of the distance, focusing on his Ki and turning to look at the general direction where the roar had come from. Charles looked from above the rock ledges of the waterfall that was higher than him. A pack of mawsercats was seen. He had heard of those before, those beasts normally traveled in groups of six for hunting and protecting each other. His grimoire came out of his holster and floated next to the silver mage as two shields appeared in front of the two mages. Those beasts seemed dangerous and the fact that they were currently in a slippery place didn't help at all. With enough strength it was possible for the ice cap below them to be broken, while risky, if they played their cards right they could probably use it to their advantage. "I'll let you handle them, my shield should protect you from any incoming attacks. I'll cover you in case they get too close. As usual, he remained behind Verena in order to get a better look of the area and make the best use of Ki to track the movements of the beasts. If they got too close to the summoner mage then he would fire back with long-range spells. [break]

Charles seemed quite content with the assistance she was offering to him right now. She was happy that he seemed content with that. The looming golems that were behind the two were doing great at keeping them warm. Even with her thick coat, the heat wasn't enough to cause her to start feeling uncomfortable. Though the biting winds were likely the main reason for that. Her clothing underneath wasn't exactly meant for colder temperatures, so it was effectively forced on her. Not that it was too big an issue.[break][break]
Charles agreed to help her put out any fires that were caused by her fires, at least. It was one less thing to need to worry about, having an additional pair of eyes that would help put out any possible hazards -- especially ones that she herself may be responsible for -- was always a good idea.[break][break]
Charles shared her sentiment though. He understood where she was coming from. This felt... wrong. As though they were the invaders. This dungeon didn't allure anyone like the Cursed Forest. There were no rumors of anyone getting abducted. It wasn't any different than anyone wandering into a perfectly normal forest. It didn't seem any different. And yet, it still possessed a very real threat to the average mage. If she didn't have Charles, she might have died.[break][break]
"...Thank you," Verena said to Charles's offer. It was tempting, but...[break][break]
"...But it wouldn't do for a Royal Knight to accept such an offer. This is still a dungeon, and regardless of my personal feelings towards it, it is a duty I have as a Royal Knight, and as someone who considers the Basin my home away from home."[break][break]
Continuing on through the winter forest, a large riverbank came into view. Encased in solid ice though, it didn't seem like there would be any water coming through any time soon. Various rocks stood out alongside the river, covered in ice and snow.[break][break]
As the brunette took in the sights, she realized that mobility would probably be a little harder here. In the last space, snow was the only real obstacle, but that was easily solved by simply sending a fire golem into battle. And though it still was in her best interest to maintain that golem now, Verena realized that utilizing its speed was... likely a double-edged sword. After all, she still had to control her golem, but that didn't mean that physics stopped for her to do so.[break][break]
Ferocious roars could be heard in the distance as they drew closer. It seemed that something like bobcats were drawing in on them now. Verena let out a sigh of relief. At least with these, they posed a very real threat to people. At least in her experience, foxes did not. But these? There was at least some solace in "doing a good deed", whatever that constituted for in a place like this.[break][break]
Still... Verena glanced to her singular Bestimmung, then at the pack of six large wild cats now approaching them. This wasn't going to be an easy battle with just one. She could tell from their builds that they were going to be quite powerful opponents. They were faster than most creatures. Stronger. Beyond that, it was hard to say -- she had sat back when her golem was fighting the foxes, so she was unaware of any possible magical abilities that might have been present. If not for the rooster that Charles fought earlier, she might have been completely unaware of the creatures possessing the ability to utilize magic in some form.[break][break]
"Charles, ready your defensive spells," Verena said, though not facing him. She was focused solely on the six mawsercats that were slowly approaching them.[break][break]
Yes, she could tell that they thought of the two as trespassers. Their body language all screamed that they would make them pay for their arrogance. They were clearly ready to attack at any moment, but...[break][break]
Verena still had a plan. Bestimmung suddenly raced directly towards the six creatures. The path it was on was mostly filled with snow, and almost no ice. This path was selected for that reason alone via the mana tether. Once Bestimmung was within thirty meters of the cats, it unleashed that icy roar. Bestimmung's natural endurance would have allowed it to minimize the damage, but the cold was enough to partially frost over its torso and hand -- a clear testament to the power of these creatures. This was, of course, assuming Charles wasn't able to utilize a defensive spell in time to protect Verena's golem.[break][break]
If Charles was able to, however, Bestimmung had an additional command that was part of its order: if an object appears before you, to use it to leap in the air, and "shoot". Utilizing its speed and strength, it would have been an easy enough feat to scale whatever type of wall Charles made, using it to get airborne. This sort of feat would allow it to blast the mawsercats and drastically weaken the pack in one fell swoop with the intense flames as a result of all being together, taking advantage of the pack mentality.[break][break]
From there, it was just a matter of picking them off. Bestimmung most certainly wouldn't be lasting for too long at this rate, but it was the most effective method for the situation the two found themself in right now. Bestimmung was just a bit faster than all of these creatures, and in a battle of attrition, it possessed the upper hand. Trading blow for blow with the mawsercats. If Charles had managed to shield the golem, it would have been able to defeat all six, albeit falling to junior health. If he was unable to, the golem was only able to take out three of them before it was destroyed.[break][break]
The combination of the injuries being inflicted as well as the surprise maneuvering of the golem were the two main factors responsible for the defeat of the Mawsercats in a best-case scenario. In another scenario, it was simply capable of reacting accordingly, taking one out at a time as each one hit it. Regardless of the outcome, Verena dismissed her golem and readied another one while the duo existed sixty meters away from the current location of the mana beasts.

[attr="class","glentext"] Despite Verena's self-deprecation, he saw her as a highly adaptive and versatile mage thanks to the nature of her mage. Although this brought several disadvantages as she could only use golems for her summoner magic. She was a good choice to be paired with almost every type of mage. Such versatility and adaptability came into play when they needed a fire to help them remain warm during the Winter area. There was no need to remove his coat as the heat wasn't too bad, mainly because of how cold it was. So the combination of both heat and cold was equilibrated. He had agreed to get rid of any fire caused by her golem. Since Verena was doing all the fighting it was the least he could do, it's not like it required much effort anyway. Charles couldn't blame Verena for feeling that way and in fact, partially shared her sentiment. Unlike other dungeons, he went to where the Ki he felt was horrible and cursed. For this dungeon, it felt normal, nothing out of place and everything seemed rather peaceful. Aside from the attacks from the mana beasts, but in this case, it seemed more like the equivalent of something entering your house without permission. You wouldn't like it and you would respond with aggression for the most part. [break][break] "A Royal Knight? Ah, I see... Yeah, work is work, it would be better if the beasts didn't attack us, to be honest..." He understood what she came from. A job was a job and they had to clear the dungeon despite how they felt about it. It's not like they could do much. The silver mage would've preferred if the animals in the dungeon didn't attack at all, but that was the decision the place was considered to be a dungeon in the first place. Maybe the mana beasts and their aggression had to do with it. Even if the dungeon looked quite peaceful, it was much more dangerous than he had initially expected. Any mage that wasn't as strong as Verena or himself would most likely meet their doom in this place. Charles didn't know Verena had become a Royal Knight until now as he was not expecting that from her, but then again it once proof of her capabilities as a mage as only the most powerful mages in the Kingdom managed to enter. It's not like he believed she was weak, but more like he wasn't expecting her to be part of them. But, once he thought about it, it was a good way for her family to gain a better reputation. A member of her family as part of the Royal Knights and save the Kingdom from the daemons? It was an effective way to open a path for her goal. Most people would be forced to acknowledge her bravery, even though it would be a hard path as most nobles wouldn't simply give in over such a thing. They were ignorant and some of them would simply criticize her regardless. Some people would simply refuse to acknowledge the capabilities of someone and carry on looking down on them. He had his own personal dislike for nobles, but he was aware that they were good nobles that were worthy of respect, Verena was one of them now. If there was someone that could bring her back her family's former glory it was her. [break][break] Charles stood back and watched Verena handle the mawsercats, his main concern however came from the ice cap they were standing on. The first thing was to activate his defensive spell to protect the two of them from the incoming attacks. Two silver shields floated in front of the two mages ready to repel any attacks from the mawsercats. He was on the lookout for any attempts to flank them. The silver mage wasn't going to underestimate their ability, if they were in a pack then they could coordinate themselves to split up in order to attack both of them. The entire he was concentrated on feeling the ice cap below them. If something was about to happen then he would tell Verena to get out of the frozen riverbank. He kept an eye out of the battle. During that moment, the Black Bull created a wall out of silver in front of the golem protecting it from any attacks and allow the golem to use it as a platform without any issues. Thanks to his right timing the golem was successfully shielded by the attacks of the mawsercats. Her single fire golem managed to beat all six mawsercats just barely as it appeared to have taken damage. The low temperatures had to do with it. "I don't sense any other enemies nearby... I'm glad this ice cap didn't crack. Now that the enemies were defeated, he made his way to the next area. [break][break] Floor 4, Area 3 [break][break] After Verena had successfully defeated the mawsercats in the previous room, Charles noticed that the snow-covered trees began to open a path... A path to another place, the next area was right in front of them. The silver mage began to make his way to that area. As usual from his experience in the dungeon, wary of his surroundings. It would only be a matter of time before they encounter the next enemies. An area slightly bigger than the previous one was in front of them. Followed by a large wall made out of ice towards the north. Beneath it lied the Winter Guardian, it looked quite similar to the Fall Guardian in terms of appearance. So by now, he was able to deduce that it was an enemy just like the Fall Guardian. Above the Winter Guardian were multiple Frost Owls watching over them on top of tree branches. The Winter Guardian awakened from his sleep to the appearance of the two. He asked them a question, just like the previous Guardian did. "Interesting question... But, right now... I don't think I'm responsible enough to have so much power..." He replied to the Guardian's comment. This was followed by the Winter Guardian stomping the ground just like the previous Guardian did. However this time he sensed an avalanche coming their way. "Avalanche." Charles quickly jumped away from the place where it was going to a snowdrift. He didn't want to find himself buried in snow. If Verena had successfully managed to dodge the avalanche as well, he would turn to look at her. "You handle the Guardian... I'll take on his friends..." He said as his grimoire came alight and prepared himself for battle. [break]

"Summoner Creation Magic: Bestimmung," Verena said as they moved along, calling upon her golem once more to ensure it was in top form.[break][break]
Verena was glad that Charles shared her sentiment. In her eyes, it was just proof that he was a good person at heart. While he could be a little gung-ho, that was earlier on. When he started to see more and more of the dungeon, he mellowed out. In her eyes, it was her fault for that blunder against the pixie. If she had treated it as he had been, then perhaps that wouldn't have happened. But it couldn't be helped, and so she wouldn't bother trying to change things.[break][break]
Verena didn't intend on keeping her status as a Royal Knight a secret of some sort. But she didn't think it was important to bring it up. It simply felt appropriate to bring up why she didn't feel she had the option of just doing nothing. Perhaps if she wasn't, she might have accepted. She wasn't sure either which way though. But in any case, it wasn't important now. There was still a dungeon that needed to be cleared, and she fully intended on completing it, regardless of her personal feelings.[break][break]
With the Mawsercats dealt with, Verena took a deep sigh. Charles noted that he wasn't able to detect any more possible threats in the area. So at least that much was finished. They could advance, and what would likely be the last room. And yet, for some reason, she didn't think this would be the last.[break][break]
"Fall", as it were, had changed things up on them. Why wouldn't this space play a trick on them, either? She no longer wanted to assume she understood how this dungeon worked; not until after she had cleared it thoroughly. It was too dangerous to do so otherwise.[break][break]
The path to the next area made it obvious where their destination was. The ashen trees to the east created a narrow path for Charles and her to pass through. It wasn't hard to figure out that the forest itself seemed to be guiding them by the nose like before. There didn't seem to be any other possible paths either, so it was clear this was the only possible path available to them. Trap or not, it didn't matter as she went through.[break][break]
Atop a near tower of snow, a majestic stag seemed asleep. Two owls, and the same fox that she had defeated prior stared at them. Ah... Verena really didn't want to hurt these creatures. But she wasn't sure if she would have much of a choice in the matter.[break][break]
"Do you desire power for yourself, for others, or for no one?"
[break]
Verena blinked. Charles had an answer that was, more or less, immediate compared to her. The brunette was in a contemplative state as a result of this, not necessarily sure how to answer it just like before. True, she desired power. She desired it in a political sense. But not because she thought that--[break][break]
The stag that posed the question rose up to its feet, delivering a simple stomp to the wall it stood on. A massive avalanche came pouring down from the forty meters worth of distance between the two factions, and it came down quickly. And yet, she didn't worry. "Bestimmung, maximum firepower," the woman calmly said amidst the impending avalanche.[break][break]
The golem channeled in the scorching blue flames that she had learned when accompanying Valo through Sosshi. Simply extending its hand outward, the blue flames it was capable of conjuring were hot. Hot enough to force Verena to step back a noticeable distance even despite not being within even four meters.[break][break]
This method didn't mean too much against mages or beings with mana skin. Especially if they had higher control. But against the snow? The temperature Bestimmung was capable of reaching was easily enough to melt the snow as it even got close to her, despite the amount coming down. Of course, the downside to this meant that it effectively turned into splash mountain, as Verena ended up soaked in the process.[break][break]
The brunette let out a soft sigh, staring off in the distance. The golem that she had sustained her was ordered to increase its output to help dry her off. It was a good thing she wore a lot of layers, but now she seemed a little... irritated. Though that irritation was directed inward. It was her own fault for thinking too hard on the creature's answer.[break][break]
"...I desire power for myself so that I can share it with those without," she said after a while. "Nothing in this world can change without power. Status. Influence. Connections. Those with power continue to have power until they do not. And currently, those with power employ a system that is not right. I wish to change that very system," she said, trying to calm down. The heat felt so good, especially given the freezing temperature of this winter wonderland. Her golem "cloak" that simply was suspended behind her drew a little closer.[break][break]
Charles was keen on taking on the four enemies, leaving her to handle the stag herself. Verena had little issue with this. Though she could tell this was going to be a little more difficult than she would have liked it to be. Everything about this creature gave her the impression that it was by no means a pushover. Just like how the past guardian was a bit stronger, this one seemed even stronger. It was going to take everything she had at this point. More than just a single Bestimmung.[break][break]
Verena took a deep breath. It was going to be a difficult fight for sure, but...[break][break]
Once more, Terra manifested. There was no shortage of space for him at least. Verena couldn't tell with complete certainty, but there were probably close to a hundred meters of space in this area, roughly. So it didn't matter if she called upon two twelve-meter golems, the maximum size that she was able to call upon right now.[break][break]
Fluss, however, was a very much different golem. This was technically her first time using it, never really having much of a need to do so. It was a humanoid figure, and clearly possessed a number of similar qualities to them. However, its blue coloration to its skin. The armor that decorated most of its body was done to protect it. Intricate gold trimming surrounded the armor as well, with an elegant "helmet" with golden wings upon it.[break][break]
It clearly possessed exceptional physique, and though Verena had called upon it, it was only six meters tall, still dwarfed compared to Terra, which dwarfed everything around it. "Terra, move forward ahead of all of the golems and myself. Then 'Launch'," the brunette commanded to her earth golem.[break][break]
As ordered, the golem advanced to the frontlines. There was still the expectation that this buck would be capable of unleashing another avalanche, so she wanted to ensure that she had protection as best as she could. With its massive frame, it would be impossible for all the snow to actually get past it.[break][break]
There was an exact thirty-nine-meter distance as a result but Verena wasn't finished. She ordered Bestimmung to get into position, moving out into the trees some sixty meters away from this all. Fluss, for now, was protecting her as it was ordered to remain in front of her in case of a surprise attack.[break][break]
Once it was in position, the Terra launched one of its fists towards the buck. The buck simply gracefully jumped back, easily avoiding the attack's maximum range. And as it did so, it launched another avalanche. This one, however, was different than before. It was a little faster comparatively, but it wasn't capable of reaching either Charles or herself.[break][break]
What it did accomplish, however, was make it considerably more difficult for them to advance towards it, something that Verena realized would be an issue without flight. Terra wouldn't have much issue, but it had taken a bit of a hit. Not enough for her to truly be concerned, but...[break][break]
"...So that's how it'll be," Verena said, sighing.[break][break]
It seemed as though this buck was testing her. It wasn't being proactive. She wasn't sure if she was being underestimated because of this or not, but...[break][break]
"I understand. Fine then, I'll go all out."[break][break]
Three different commands were given to all of her golems. There was only a forty-six-meter gap separating Fluss from it. A fifty-seven-meter gap between Bestimmung and it. A forty-two-meter gap between Terra and it. It was a simple game of "tag". Right now, she was it. Her win condition was to defeat the buck. Verena's methods of victory involved cornering it.[break][break]
Right now, it possessed high ground. And because of this, it could create an avalanche whenever. It possessed powerful-looking antlers, too. Melee was likely a pretty dangerous endeavor. Right now, she was playing on the buck's terms. She didn't really like that, though she didn't exactly wish to hurt it, either. But it had to be done.[break][break]
Well, a plan had been devised now. "Terrra, pursue the buck and keep an eye on it. Fluss, carry me and follow after it," she ordered.[break][break]
Bestimmung had been given order as well, moving further up the "mountain" of snow, though it wasn't to engage in any combat. Not yet.[break][break]
While on her water golem, Verena watched as Terra advanced toward the creature. Another avalanche came down, though by this point Charles would have most certainly finished up with the other animals. The massive frame of Terra managed to prevent everything behind it from taking any damage, though it did take another hit.[break][break]
The Keeper of Winter knew it possessed the high ground, and so it seemed vigilant of Verena's earth golem's fists. Verena fell from her water golem, ordering that Terra pick up her golem as she rolled safely across the winter ground, her flaming "cape" of a golem that floated near her managing to keep her safe and warm from the cold.[break][break]
Terra's hands were massive and were able to grip the golem. Though it did result in her damaging the golem as a result, it also allowed her to have Terra throw Fluss right towards the buck. Fluss was much larger than the creature, and though the massive antlers did penetrate right into its damaged body, it was only a result of being struck by the large fist that her water golem had managed to use, propelling it akin to a piston to send it flying in the distance, greatly injuring it as it flew back an impressive fifty-thirty meters. Directly where Verena had Bestimmung waiting, who had been scaling to get into position for this very moment.[break][break]
As the Keeper of Winter was advancing towards it, crashing through the snow as a result of the explosive force of the water golem, Bestimmung managed to grab the bucks head, slamming it right into the snow as it unleashed a massive flame that ended the "test" right then and there.[break][break]
"...It should be over now," Verena said, letting out a relieved breath as she dismissed Bestimmung, leaving Terra and Fluss as her sole golems for now.[break][break]
"...But I don't think it is, unfortunately."[break][break]
...Something wasn't quite right... if these two levels had "guardians" of the respective floor, Verena wondered what became of the other two...
[break]
COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR rolled a 7; there is no avalanche problem , so I flavored that as verena summoning bestimmung just melting the snow before it even got close to her, though it soaked her. verena summons two more golems. bestimmung, fluss, and terra. terra basically is serving as a mobile wall, protecting everything immediately behind it from the impending avalanche. as at this point, it's serving as a "spell" as far as combat is concerned, and not something within the floor itself, I treated it under senior aoe rules.[break][break]
verena realizes that she needs to get in close, and her golems take some hits as a result. so being the 500 iq brainaic she is, realizing that she can't actually stop the buck unless she gets in close, she yeets her water golem at it. like, just has terra straight up yeet it at it like something right out of a cartoon, and fluss sends it flying towards bestimmung, who ends it. two instances of senior damage against grand hp, it is dead.[break][break]
Freezer Fox: 2/2[break] Frost Owl: 2/2[break] Keeper of Winter: 0/1
Element: Water[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 12m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golem[break]Description: Fluss takes the tall of a bipedal humanoid figure. As with most of Verena's golems, it is more human in its appearance than anything else. Its skin is light, almost peaceful blue like a calm ocean. As with all of Verena's Golems, however, it is armored [Reinforced Golems] with deep blue plating across its arms, shoulders, and thighs. Gold runs down the central plating and around its waist as well as possessing golden shoulder spaulders and wrist guards.[break][break]It seems to also possess a helmet of some kind, but the truth is this just part of its face. Golden wing-like ornaments are placed on this "helmet" as well.[break][break]At a glance, nothing about Fluss seems like it would embody water magic beyond its own coloration. It possesses simple hands and feet, and though it may be armored decently, nothing about it seems to be associated with its magic. However, that couldn't be the furthest from the truth. This golem is adept at swimming, and though its speed will not increase when in the water, it can still easily carry twelve people both on land in the sea for the purpose of transportation (its own speed will not suffer any demerits when used this way as a result of moving slower than the listed speed).[break][break]Aside from it's proficiency with swimming being created as her only means of fighting against such enemies beyond flying at this point in time, every physical strike Fluss deals is infused with [Senior] levels of damage, and each blow it manages to land is heavy. This is because it uses the water mana to infuse each strike as though it is unleashing the pressure of the ocean depths in each strike. Of course, it does not actually do that -- one might draw that conclusion, especially as every strike from it creates a torrent of water to accelerate each strike and cause opponents to fly back equal to the appropriate knockback rules.

[attr="class","glentext"] Charles didn't expect much from Verena initially, not in the way that he believed she was weak, but because she was a civilian. Not many civilians had combat experiences. Of course, the summoner mage had a four-leaf grimoire, the rarest type of grimoire out there and it meant that the person was blessed by mana. However, she had exceeded all of his expectations. She seemed to have some experience of her own and aside from that, she was a Royal Knight. A fact he wasn't aware of until she mentioned it. The silver mage believed that she had avoided saying it until now for the sake of sounding pretentious or arrogant. Most people who were truly like that would mention it anytime they could and rub it in front of people's faces. It felt like the right thing to bring it up and her justification was completely respectable. Now she had to uphold the standards and responsibilities of being a Roya Knight, it sounded like a pain in the ass most definitely, but the pay was probably good. [break][break] As they moved to the next area and encountered the Winter Guardian. He had a rather much quicker reply, unlike Verena who spent her time thinking. In reality, he actually gave some thought to it after his reply but didn't feel like spending his time thinking about such things due to his own laziness. At this point, he just wanted to get the dungeon over with. Charles had told Verena to handle the beast, while he dealt with his friends. Believing that at this point, his spells would be a lot more effective in fighting the other enemies. While her golems could focus on a one on one against the Winter Guardian. His first targets were the two owls that were on top of the trees. They were the ones that would likely prove the most difficult due to their ability to fly. So he decided to defeat them first. He extended both of his hands towards the two owls that were in place, sparks of electricity came from his hands, followed by small shards made out of silver coming from both of his palms. The silver shards moved towards the owls and penetrated their bodies. Defeating them, the two owls went fell to the ground after being eliminated by his magic. [break][break] Most of his attention was placed on the battle, however, he heard Verena's reply to the Winter Guardian. Something quite ambitious, which made sense when taking her previous comment about her goals. Power for herself so she could share with the weak, the ones who didn't have the power to do anything. It was a fact that only the powerful could change the world, nothing mattered if you were weak. Those who used their power for bad or unnecessary things needed to be removed, but the only way to do so is by being much powerful than them. Charles personally didn't think about power itself, but he acknowledged that it was necessary. Magical power, willpower, and other things we're required to achieve things. Just how in order to become a Magic Knight Captain one is required to be powerful enough to hold the position, the same thing for the Wizard King, the strongest mage in the Kingdom. A good dream, it was an unknown fact that the silver mage once faced discrimination from the nobility of the Kingdom. [break][break] It had become clear to him by now that the Winter Guardian was much stronger than the Fall Guardian they had previously fought with. He briefly thought if he should've handed it instead, but he had faith in Verena's ability to finish her off. It was better for her to do it, anyway. After he heard a comment like that, the silver mage believed that it was best to let her handle it. Charles still had to handle the two other freeze wolves the remained. They still posed a threat and they had to be eliminated before they became a bigger pain in the ass for him. Two large silver spikes rose up from the ground directed towards the two foxes that were running towards the Black Bull. One was immediately impaled by the large spikes, the other fox tried to jump in an attempt to dodge, but resulted in getting hit regardless. [break][break] The fight between Verena and the Winter Guardian was a ferocious one. The summoner mage had to put a lot of strength into defeating the Guardian. A show of power... That was the best way to put it in words. After the long battle, Verena managed to come out victorious. After the Winter Guardian's defeat, the silver mage was convinced that everything had come to an end. Winter was the last season and its Guardian had been defeated. It was finally all over... "Yeah..." Or so he thought, something was off. Much to Charles's dismay, another room remained. The area was different from all the areas they've gone through previously. It looked and felt different. [break][break] Floor 5, Area 1 [break][break] The area was different from all the areas they've gone through previously. It looked and felt different, it was quite vivid but different from how it felt in the previous areas. Mystical colors could be seen all around the place, mana filled the entire area. The concentration of mana in that place felt a lot higher compared to the previous ones. If the previous season wasn't the final area, then this most definitely was it. Charles continued walking around the place until he eventually stumbled, a giant oak tree that took the place of a woman. The person who was in charge of the entire dungeon and the final boss. That meant that the two previous guardians were just merely minor bosses, yet they managed to put up a good fight. Just like the previous guardian, she asked them a question. Defy or master nature, a strange question with the meaning of it being up to the person. Mother Nature wasn't alone, she was accompanied by the two remaining guardians, the Summer, and Spring Guardian respectively. It made sense, they only fought two guardians, even though they navigated through the four seasons. This battle was going to be the hardest one so far. The silver mage realized that he can't hold back. This was one of the few times where he decided to go all out. A silver aura began to surround his entire body, following by small sparks of lightning that came off from the aura itself. "I guess it's time to stop holding back... This is a pain in the ass, I'm tired already. He said, this was the last room of the dungeon. He was sure of it and he could feel it. [break]

The truth of the matter was Verena had tired herself out. She had used a substantial amount of her mana in one go, and the reality was she wasn't sure if she would be able to last. She had tossed several of her most powerful spells all at once, and so she truly wasn't too eager to continue without a bit of rest. But unfortunately, she knew that wasn't the case. They were so close now. Stopping for a bit of rest now felt... well, like she'd hold him back. She couldn't ask to rest when they were this close to the end -- she could feel it.[break][break]
The truth was Verena wasn't paying attention to how Charles was handling the bests in the prior area. She wished she could have, but the Winter Guardian was an incredibly powerful opponent. She needed to create a scenario that was impossible for it to counter properly. As long as it held an advantage such as height, there was no way for the brunette to properly combat it. So she had to get a little... creative and cross her fingers that it worked. Thankfully, it did work out in the end. She didn't want to be in a situation like that again, but she probably didn't have much of a choice.[break][break]
The Keeper of Winter had at least taught her a valuable lesson. What was ahead was going to be much more durable than what they had come across before. If that was the case, Verena knew to expect a reasonable level of magical durability as well; it came with it, naturally. To that end, utilizing her golems ranged abilities would have effectively been a pointless endeavor that would be a waste of mana.[break][break]
The speed of whatever was present in the next space was likely to prove cumbersome as well. While she didn't have any reason to believe that whatever was ahead could outspeed her scout golem, Sonia was by no means a powerhouse. Both of her golems had managed to sustain damage in the previous fight as well, but she wasn't exactly in a position to dismiss either of them with her mana reserves about half of her maximum ability. The issue was they weren't exactly fast golems, either.[break][break]
If she could last with just these golems, it would probably be fine, but she did intend on finding some sort of a backup plan-[break][break]
"Huh...?"[break][break]
Confusion settled upon the brunette's expression as things warmed up. The snow was melting --no, it was more than that. It was as if the snow was never there to begin with.[break][break]
What was once an otherwise dead and quiet landscape of a forest in the winter seasons became a space very similar to that of the first part of the forest that they had arrived in. Lush greenery, vibrant flowers. An eerie quiet with an evening canopy above the trees. Mystical colors floated calmly in the air -- Verena recognized this as pure mana.[break][break]
"...So that's what this place is," she quietly murmured under her breath as if she had just realized the truth of this dungeon.[break][break]
Up ahead, she could make out a large tree. Somehow, it possessed clear and distinctive facial features, though most of it was still hidden by foliage intended to protect itself. In addition, two other large bucks were present. Proud and dignified, yet they seemed to be opposites in their general builds. They were going to make for fierce opponents, without question.[break][break]
"Do you defy your nature, or do you master it?" the tree asked the duo as Verena brought her golems closer to her.[break][break]
Verena had no idea how to answer this question. There were plenty of meanings or things it could have inferred. But she knew the answer to at least a few of them. To defy one's nature was to defy their basic instincts. She wasn't sure if she could do that.[break][break]
...But she had come this far because she was at least willing to try, and had done so at least a few times. She didn't seek to 'defy' those basic instincts or impulses. She sought to overcome them. To not let them limit her. To restrict her. To deny her opportunity any more than it already had.[break][break]
Verena took a deep breath. It was difficult to say with certainty, but...[break][break]
"Charles I want you to handle the tree," she said. "It would probably take me too long to handle it. I'll keep an eye out on the Guardians. For now, let's keep our distance from that tree and those guardians." she said, noting that they were at least a comfortable fifty meters away.[break][break]
They weren't completely safe -- not yet. But they both had enough time to properly react if any of these creatures attempted to attack them at least.[break][break]
...She hoped as much at least. For now, it didn't seem like the opposition was making any attacks, and so Verena at least felt it acceptable to dismiss her water golem Any and all mana she could get would have been vital.[break][break]
"If they attack us before I gather a bit more mana, I'm counting on you to ready a wall," she admitted, though a little frustrated by the notion. "Fluss and Terra aren't going to be what I need for this. I can tell that I'll need to expend a bit of mana again."
