Within the Rogue’s Refuge, there is a black market where one can find the most strange, unique and interesting wares, not to mention some of the most illegal and dangerous stuff in the entire country. It is within this black market that a rather mysterious and ridiculously secretive person known only as the Agent of Avarice calls the shots. Making deals with all sorts of people from within the country and from outside, the Agent takes on all sorts of requests which he will then distribute to those who can prove themselves worthy. Receiving the orders through a proxy, the taker of this mission is to go to the fringe in order to find a Wolpertinger, capture it and bring it back alive. While it is not a kill order, that does not mean one should be sloppy, meaning there are special requirements involved that need to be followed precisely.

Health Limit: Intermediate [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s (15 m/s when flying) [break]Physical Damage: Intermediate [break]Magic Element and Types: N/a [break]Combat Style: N/a [break]Additional Information: A truly strange and rare appearance, the wolpertinger has the body and the head of a hare, a pair of deer-like antlers, the wings of a goose and elongated canines reminiscent of those of a sabertooth tiger. Because it is such a rare sight to behold, most believe it to just be the result of a drunkard's tale. However, the fact that such creatures actually exist within small pockets of the fringe is proof of their existence, though it makes them no less rare. Moving incredibly fast, being small enough to hide in tight spaces and being capable of taking flight, it can deal a vicious bite when it feels trapped. As such, capturing one without harming it is not easily done, even if it is not a violent and wild beast.
It hadn't been too long ago that she had been inside the rogue's refuge and dealt with one of the many agents of avarice. They had mistaken her as a defenceless young woman who had no place being in the refuge let alone in front of them requesting a job. She had proven efficiently that though she didn't look like much, her looks were very much deceiving when she threw a dagger at the person's head and barely missed their head. As one could imagine there tune very quickly as she retrieved the dagger after they had given the task they wanted to be completed. It was a simple job of dealing with gaining a specific wolf pelt. She hadn't been overly happy as some of her own wolf wraiths had been hurt but she had completed the task with little issue and skinned the animal expertly.
She had delivered the pelt back to the agent and was subsequently paid, she brought the funds back to Jin so it could be put towards their base of operations. It hadn't been much but then she didn't know that, she was proud of herself that she had done it on her own and had brought funds to help them survive. Jin had seemed happy enough as she had done it on her own without being told to do so, she had no idea if he had been worried but it had been the first time she had wandered off by herself while the other assassin had been sleeping. It wasn't as if she could leave a note as she couldn't write but she had done her best by leaving a very childish drawing on the table to let him know. The problem was it was something that a toddler would have likely done so there hadn't been a lot of detail.
That night however when she had got ready to leave she had been watched, due to her lack of sensory she had no idea and so travelled in darkness towards the rogue's refuge and towards the market of Avarice. She had moved town many winding streets until she ended up in an unseen part of the refuge even many rogues would have difficulty finding if they didn't know the way or what they were looking for. This hadn't even been the second time she had been here, she had been there several times and so knew the way without needing to look for the many telltale signs of the path needed to be taken. Eventually, she stopped but it was only about halfway to her final destination. She felt as if she was being watched meaning she couldn't continue forward "Show" she demanded letting the person know she knew they were there.
'The capable and prepared never sleep with both eyes closed Jin.' As his mother used to lecture him time and time again. Suffice to say that it was an effective tactic that made the white haired rogue a very light sleeper. And that he slept with one eye open at all times, not physically of course but mentally. Sounds and movements a shift in mana, would cause him to awaken. One could argue this was not a guaranteed way to get a good nights rest, but when you were trained to sleep this way all your life you tend to just get used to it. As was Jin. So while he was indeed sleeping, when his raven haired partner was moving about at night he was well aware. Jin honestly had no issue with Aeila going out on her own and doing her own thing, he trusted her to make smart and proper decisions. But he would be lying if he said, he wasn't interested in what she had to do so late in the night.
So the rogue took it upon himself to follow her and see where she was going. Walking into the dining room without making a sound after she left, he noticed her drawing that she put on the table for him. A smile was on his lips as he looked at her drawing, she had the markings to look for the Black Market from what he could make out. At least she gave him the means to find her, if he needed so she wasn't trying to abandon him or anything. Her picture didn't have allot of detail, but it didn't need it. He gently folded the picture in half and slid it into the inside of his jacket pocket. Knowing she could take care of herself, Jin was tempted to leave her be. But this was to good of an opportunity.
Jin stuck to the high grounds again when it came to keeping his eye on Aeila. She lacked a traditional mages sensory, or for better words it was just rather low and she needed more practice. But she made that up with her natural skill and pure instinct, which did not need so much practice. While she was no slouch in that department, Jin specialized in hiding his presence completely from even the most skilled sensors. While he wasn't using any of those abilities currently, hiding himself was natural to him. Eventually he made his down to ground level, keeping his distance from her. But alas the little game of hide and sneak was over when she demanded whoever was following her showed themselves.
And so he did, he stepped out of the shadows from behind her on the right side with a smirk on his face. "Ok ok. You got me." he said holding his hands up, in his left hand he was holding her drawing and flipped it open using his right hand to point at it. "I really enjoyed your drawing. I just wanted to see how it measured up to the real thing." The rogue said with a smile. Then continued. "But I also wanted to see what you are doing out here. I think it's time we start completing some work together, don't you agree?" he asked placing the picture back in his inside jacket pocket, and putting his hands in his pockets awaiting her answer.
She had no need to open her grimoire but it had started glowing setting off her flower showing she was ready to call one of her wraiths to search out the person who was following her. She knew the rules of the black market and she wasn't about to go irritating the ones who ran it but not following their laws. She watched and listened as a familiar voice confirmed that he was caught, seeing the person match the voice the glow faded from both her grimoire and flower. "Why follow?" she asked confused, she had left him the symbol he needed to look for to enter the black market. "I do bad?" she asked concerned that he didn't trust her not to make proper decisions and end up with something bad happening. She was stunted on certain things but she didn't think she was that much of an idiot.
"Not trust?" she asked she hugged her grimoire to her chest and started to wonder if she was as stupid as she kept being told, she looked at the image and rushed forward to make him put it away shaking her head "No show, always eyes." she whispered in a panic "Against laws." she continued, she wished she could go into more detail but they were out in the open and so she really couldn't "Explain later promise." she said so he knew that she wasn't about to keep him in the dark on things. There was a specific set of rules to the black market and those who didn't follow them, well, they didn't have a long life expectancy if the rumours were to be believed. She really wasn't going to be the one to put them to the test, she had been told to obey the rules here and would.
"Not been before?" she asked wondering if this was the first time he had ever visited the black market of Avarice, she didn't know how you got invitations or got invited in, but, she had shown him the marking meaning anything he did was on her. As far as this place would have been concerned she had vouched for him and so she'd be just as culpable if he did anything wrong. "Day hurt, easy night." she tried to explain covering her eyes so he knew she preferred doing things at night due to her light sensitivity. "Work night." she knew he would understand they had been living together for a while now and he would have been fully aware of how the light affected her. She tried to abide by his rules and not keep her veiled hat on but there were days where it was just too much and she ended up in tears due to the pain.
"Work together?" she repeated after him as she thought back to when they were training and the small talk that happened at the bench. She nodded to his words "Yes... survive together." she said with a smile, she moved towards him and leaned in "Rumour Elipse Raven run." she whispered as if telling him an important secret "Not know who are but people not say loud, people seem squirrely when talk." she explained hoping he could fill in the blanks, she could tell by how people seemed nervous to talk about them that they weren't the type of people to be taken lightly.
The white haired rogue awaited her answers, and got met with her questioning if he trusted her. Truth be told it wasn't that he didn't trust her or anything but he simply just wanted to know what she was up to. So far they had both only been on their tasks and missions separately, which was just a little odd to him. She seemed to know more than what she lead on, on the surface she was a young women who had very little knowledge of the outside world. But from what Jin had seen this wasn't exactly the case, she had a ton of experience and knowledge especially in their field. But she was essentially trained to be an assassin like him, so maybe it made sense she had these connections. "I do trust you. I was just honestly a little curious." Jin answered her honestly.
But she didn't want to explain just what she was doing here just yet, which was fine to him. That already gave him a ton of information, she was here on a mission and not a typical one. One most likely given out by the Agents of Avarice, whom lived by their secrecy. Jin had no direct feelings about them, he didn't dislike them but he couldn't really say that he liked them either. They paid well for the jobs they put out, thats all that could be said about it. "I have. Once, twice maybe a few times."Jin answered her question about if he had been here before. But she did explain that she preferred to work at night rather than the day, which he figured. She was attached to her veil cause she needed it during the day, almost as much as her grimoire. "I know. I figured as much.” he replied with a smirk.
She then recalled the conversation they had not to long ago, about them working together and surviving together. Which made the rogue nod now that she finally understood why he followed her. "Mmmhhmm. So why don't we do this one together hmmm? We could use the practice.” he said again leaving his hands in his pocket. The duo had to eventually get to the point where they could not only work together, but be in sync with one another. He knew that sometimes their line of work usually fell into doing a job solo, at least the small stuff. But as they got the point where it was time to take bigger jobs and needed an ally they would have each other. And one could only get to the point of a perfect partnership with some good old practice.
But Aeila then began to say something worthy of allot interest. Something he also only heard slight whispers about from time to time, they started right after the Kikka incidents as well. This mentioning of Eclipse Raven. Jin had no idea what this Eclipse Raven was, or their intentions. They didn't seem to entirely linked to the Agents of Avarice as well, though he figured they probably had to work together to some capacity. Jin simply bent down as she whispered in his ear about it, and looked down obviously in a focused thought. To him this Eclipse Raven was worth keeping in mind, like everything else. Knowledge was true power especially in their world. Jin's curiosity in whatever Eclipse Raven was only grew more and more. And he would seek out answers. "Hmm. Ive heard whispers. It's worth keeping them in mind. Answers will show themselves sooner or later. And we will find some of our own.” Jin replied with a whispers of his own.
After that he would stand back up with a smile. "Well you are in charge, lead the way.” Jin said quietly speaking about the mission she was on. The assassin didn't really know what her objective was or how she planned to do it. He would listen and follow her lead first, and provide whatever she needed in support.

Aelia looked at him as he spoke about trusting her but he was curious, she honestly felt as if he was lying. There were plenty of ways to get her attention without getting others. It wasn't like it was a short walk from where they were staying to the black market so he could have reached out well before. "Not trust." she said, her tone she used it wouldn't be clear whether about if she didn't trust him or if she didn't believe him, it was clear she was less than happy about the situation. She started walking once more towards the black market and towards where she would meet the Agent of Avarice to get a new task. She stopped hearing that he had been there only once or twice, this surprised her as though she didn't know how much that was, she was sure it wasn't a lot.
Given she was taken to the black market frequently when she was with a caretaker, she would have thought that he would have been more than she had been. She was curious to know if he knew she preferred to work at night than why he asked what she was doing, it made no sense to her in all honesty. She could do things during the day but if she did it too often or for too long it would do damage to her eyes that would last for days where she really would need to live in a closet or with her veil on. She was trying to show she wasn't dependant on it and would only wear it when Jin said she could as she never dared to touch her veil by herself, she had never been allowed to and even now she was still scared to.
She saw the others smirk and looked to the side remaining silent as she hugged her grimoire closer, she knew he wasn't being mean but she didn't really understand why he was smirking. The only time people really had is when something bad happened so she really hoped this wasn't where it was going to go. Her mind was still doing mental gymnastics over the work together thing as she had always worked alone, this was what she was taught to be normal for someone like her. The survival thing was easier to understand as nothing wanted to perish and she understood together they were stronger and would have a better survival rate regardless of whatever tasks they took. She was working hard to realise that these two things actually factored together, that you couldn't have one without doing both. She wasn't exactly stupid but it did take her longer to understand or work things out thanks to how she was treated.
"Practice?" she asked with a puzzled look, it would have been the first time they worked together and she guessed that meant additional things would be needed. She had told him what she had found via whispers not to incur the wrath of the owners of the market, it would seem that Jin too had heard the rumours and told her that they would find out answers in time. She knew they would end up doing their own investigations to find out more information about the 'Eclipse Raven'. It was then he said she was the one to lead them to their task but in honesty, she hadn't got to the Agent of Avarice just yet. "Not got, go get." she said so he would understand that she was just going to collect the task in question when she had called him out.
She continued down the streets quickly as if she had the roads memorized, in a way she did as she could navigate this place entirely with her veil on. Eventually, she stopped at what would seem like a wall and put her hand on it gently flaring her mana twice before she moved a little beside where she had been "We both go." she said to Jin allowing him to know they were now expecting two people and walked through a wall. It was an unusual thing but these were people that could get their hands on pretty much anything they wanted after all. When the pair got in she looked to the agent she would be dealing with this time, they were taller than the last one she had dealt with but his build was still an unknown factor as was his appearance thanks to the mask and clothing.
"I see you've returned A and you brought a 'friend'" the man would say making her nod "He J. He like me." she explained the best she could "You know and understand the rules?" he would ask and he nodded quickly "I bring, I take fault if bad." she said showing she understood the rules of the market but she knew she had nothing to worry about. "Very good. So, is it another task you want to pick up this evening." he asked and she nodded and was handed a piece of paper, normally she'd take it and have Fredrick read it when they were out of the black market and away from everyone but she passed it to Jin "We do." it was that simple, she had taken the flyer which meant she had accepted the job from them. "See soon." she said walking out hoping that Jin would explain the flyer when they got to a more convenient place.
"Yes, some practice we spoke about this remember?" Jin attempted to remind her of the conversation they had, about surviving together. And how that led into the explanation of teamwork, partnership and some much needed practice. Jin had little worries that Aeila could take care of her own, defend herself when need be. Say the smart things and make the smart moves, she's proved herself very capable in this regard. So much so, it would make his own mother proud. Another thing his mother would have loved, was her near blind obedience she tended to have. It was often she would just agree to what he would say and take it as a form of command. Oh his mother would have loved that indeed. Hence why those chains needed to be broken.
"The conversation we had about working as a team. This night is as good as any to get started." Jin continued rubbing his chin and looking up into the night sky while following Aeila. She hadn't gotten the information she needed yet, so that was the first stop. "Understood Leader A, continue to lead the way." he continued in his jokingly manner. The girl needed allot of things, if her chains were going to at least begin to crack. But one of those things, and arguably the most important of them all. Was confidence. Now confidence in Aeila's situation was a weird point to try and approach. From what he could tell Aeila was actually particularly confident when on a task, she showed little hints of discomfort or uneasiness when it came to taking a life. This is what training at such a young age could do to a person. Aeila didn't need to be confident in her skills she already had that, what she needed to be confident in was her decisions and her own opinions. But baby steps needed to be taken.
She walked to the location with little errors and at a quick pace, not only has she been around here before. She's been around here quite a lot, which made Jin remember the first time he met her. With the golden boy, they both were like fish out of water. But it seemed Aeila was playing them as fools. A little laugh escaped his mouth as he thought of it, he too liked to lead people astray from time to time. Jin had known and worked with the Agents of Avarice before, he knew their rules and how strict they were about them. But when he took jobs for them in the past, he never went as Jin with the stark white silvery hair and piercing blue eyes. He had disguised himself in the past, and not through means of magic.
So this would be the actual first time he as himself is meeting with an agent. Aeila was taking a risk in bringing him along, but there was no reason to worry. Jin doesn't fail in any of his tasks, he'd been groomed to complete any mission and detail with the utmost efficiency. As they exchanged words Jin just simply stood aside and watched gently taking the piece of paper handed to him. Walking out behind her taking a quick glance at the paper, stopping himself from chuckling. He waited till they walked to safe area to speak about it.
"They want us to catch a small animal." Jin told Aeila quietly with a slight laugh in his voice. He hadn't been asked to do something like this since he was young, this mission definitely wasn't the most exciting one for the two to be working together on but it is what it is. Jin folded the paper and slid it into the inside of his jacket pocket then continuing to whisper. "A Wolpertinger. It has thebody and the head of a hare, a pair of deer-like antlers, the wings of a goose and elongated canines reminiscent of those of a sabertooth tiger. Usually hiding within small spaces and pockets of the fringe. Apparently they are fast, small and can fly. Also they have a nasty bite. Lastly we can't kill it or harm it. Seems like some kind of test." Jin said to her, awaiting her response, to see what she thought on the matter.

The raven-haired mage nodded to his words, she remembered the conversation but the way he went around it threw up all sorts of red flags to her. If they were to practice like he wanted following instead of making his presence known wasn't the way to go, it just sewed mistrust for her towards him. She knew she wasn't as strong as him but that didn't mean that she didn't have her own strengths, hers wasn't within her own capabilities but in the family, she was slowly growing and their abilities which made her quite the pain in the ass if she was to become a person's enemy. She had gained two strong wraiths in the way of Fredrick who Jin knew of and one he didn't know of. The crimson-haired woman she had collected when she went to the wildlands, she was still too weak to summon her at current.
"No trust" she repeated, this time it was more a case of her saying her thoughts on this more than her believing that he didn't trust her. She was trained well enough to survive in the underworld of society and blend into the world around her even if she couldn't speak properly at the best of times. "If want practice then no stalk, show self, not wait." she sounded upset as she spoke, she really did believe that he didn't trust her and so she couldn't trust him. It was hard to find someone in their line of work that you could open yourself a little to let alone trust enough with your life, she was starting to wonder if she should end this partnership after this job and try and find her way back home herself. She'd likely get lost or worse and if she did find her way home she had no idea what to expect without kind words from another.
She stopped as she was called leader and shook her head, she still wasn't comfortable with that. She was always taught to obey and follow orders, the thought of giving orders scared her. She honestly didn't believe herself smart enough for that kind of thing but who could blame her given everything she had been through in her life. She was confident in her skills and abilities, not so much in things outside what she was taught, she never needed it before as she was trained to follow directions and not question anything after all she wasn't smart enough to do things without specific directions, she'd never be able to last on her own, the world would see her for the monster she was if she didn't have the protection of another. It all scared her.
She knew how it would make it seem, that she had been playing the one who kidnapped her and Jin given the way she knew her way around the black market. It was one of the very few places she never wore her veil, she never understood why and she never questioned it. One of the few kindnesses she was given was that when she picked up work within the market they always done it when her eyes wouldn't hurt. She didn't understand why this was always a granted kindness even when she had done bad, she could only put it down to wanting to appease the agents or they knew the task was to be done under brighter light than she could take for too long. She just moved silently through the streets trying to not think too much about it, it was what it was and nothing could change it.
Aelia knew she was the one taking the risk by bringing Jin into the circle so to speak but she knew that he was like her and even if he hadn't been by rumours alone it is quite simple to understand that you didn't cross the agents. You especially didn't cross the agents in their market, to do so was to sign your death warrant and you could put money on the fact that you would meet your demise one way or another. The reason for this is whoever took the bounty either succeeded or they themselves would become the prey to another hunter. You never took a task you couldn't complete because failure just wasn't something they would forgive easily and you would have to work hard to get back into their good graces. She had yet to fail a mission but then she had always been punished harshly for failure and would do everything to avoid it.
After the flyer had been given and they got to a safe area he explained what the task was to do and gave a description of the animal that they were to bring back and alive. "W... Wol... p.... er.... t... ting.... er?" she said it was clear she was struggling with the word but was breaking it down to try and get it right. She looked at Jin for help with the word, it was the only way she could get better "No harm. No kill." she said showing she understood to rules being dictated to her and looked to him to lead the way as she believed that he would have better knowledge of where they needed to go. She hoped that this could be done in the evening because she didn't want the pain the dawn brought to her eyes.
When Aeila said there was no trust in his actions, he had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. It wasn't a big deal though, just a minor annoyance which given their situation it is to be expected. There was nothing he could say to convince her that him following wasn't a matter of trust but just simple curiosity. But if thats what she wanted to believe, he could do nothing right now to convince her other wise. So it was best to just let it go.
She shook her head at his words when he referred to her as the leader, which was not surprising. He probably have shouldn't have said it out loud, it most likely made her nervous. He also realized that this where their upbringing and training were different. Each child bearing the name Zhongli were expected to lead and organize groups for many different tasks. This was because just in case the leader in the moment had fallen or was unable to lead do to other circumstances there was always another that could take the previous leaders place. Before everything completing the mission efficiently was the most important thing. Considering her reaction she was probably not trained to do so. She underestimated herself heavily. Given the nature of her magic and how she uses her wraiths in such a efficient matter, taking the role of leader would be allot easier for her than she thinks. But no matter that was for another time.
"No? Don't wanna lead tonight? It's ok. But you should stop underestimating yourself. You are more capable than you realize." Jin said to her looking ahead. Like always Jin's purpose was to heal her mind and build confidence. Allot of her barriers came from the mental aspect, where as her previous...guardians sought to her bring her confidence down. This behavior was something he had seen often with his other siblings whom failed missions they were given to by mother.
"Mmmhhhmmm. A Wol-per-tin-ger. Wolpertinger. Sound it out slowly as practiced, and break it down." Jin said helping her learn the new word of the creature they had to catch. But now he began to think on where they would be able to locate the creature, he knows now that they hide in small spaces and pockets throughout the fringe. But that in itself could be lots of different places, now was the time to use basic logic and thinking in order to break down an actual location. "So if this creature has elongated canine's that resembles a sabertooth tiger, it is possible that it eats meat. If that is the case that can begin to narrow down our search to all the available meat vendors in town. But even that is still to broad." Jin began to say in a low tone to Aeila. "I believe we can lessen our search even further than that."
"We also know that it hides in small spaces and pockets, but still assuming it eats meat it's going to hide near the closest food source. So it won't just hide out near any meat vendor or shop. Critters are also creatures of habit, meaning if it has easy access to food and it's hiding spot it's most likely going to continue to rely on that pattern for it's survival. Basically i'm narrowing down the possible locations to one place in particular. Kiro's Meat Shop." Jin said looking at it's direction.
"Kiro's Meat Shop isn't popular at all. Mainly because of the dirty alleyway that's behind it where most of the left over food is left behind. It creates a stench that travels into the shop keeping the people away. Of course that also attracts critters, and because of that alley way it's an easy access and escape for any wondering animal. I believe that is where we will find our Wolpertinger." Jin said finally walking to it's location, but also listening out if Aeila had any objections.
Once the meat shop was in sight, Jin pointed up to the nearest rooftop signaling that he was going to take a higher ground for a better vantage point. But before he did so he would speak of the plan in place to catch the creature. "Just in case we see the Wolpertinger, we should have a plan in place to catch it. I'm going to get a higher look to try and spot the little guy, once I give you a thumbs up signal. I need you to summon your wolves and have them approach on both sides of the alley way. This will force the animal to take flight in a certain path, and I will handle the rest from there. Remember no harm, no kill." Jin said to her in a low tone again. He would wait for her nod or approval that she understood the plan before moving up with a series of flips and jumps.
Getting into his position he crouched low to see if he can spot anything, and luckily enough all his theory crafting was correct. He could spot the little bugger eating some left over pieces of meat right in the middle of the alleyway. Right after that he stood up and gave Aeila the thumbs up she needed to activate her spells and scare the creature into the air like he had planned.
It was hard for her to believe that it was out of curiosity that he'd been following her, the only time it ever happened was when her caretakers or brother were making sure she wasn't trying to run away. As if she would have done such a thing, she knew the torture she would have endured even thinking such a thing. Even though it was slow she understood that Jin wasn't like those she knew in her past, like those who merely wanted to use her as a living weapon, but still, it hurt that he had followed her and not let his presence be known until she called him out. She didn't understand that she was being irrational, but then how could she? She wasn't raised to think for herself just to get from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible without leaving a trail.
Being called a leader made her more than nervous it made her scared, almost as if she had overstepped her allowed role. She didn't comprehend that what she did with her wraith family was more or less what a leader did. Then again she had no idea what a leader was, she was kept in the dark and child-like because it was easier to manipulate her into doing what she was told without arguments. If she had the choice when she was younger this would not have been her chosen path, she wanted a caring family. One that she could love and would love her in return; it was likely why she loved her wraiths like her pixie sticks so. They saw her as a mother and she would do everything in her power to protect them, she had given up years of birthday 'gifts' because she claimed them when they were viewed as useless.
She still had the memories of how she claimed each wraith seared into her memories, she couldn't remember a single one dying peacefully. Most of them were begging for help from the pain they were feeling, the worst ending was her pixie sticks because they were fairies and so were playful creatures from what she had been told by them so to see them being trodden on as if they were nothing gave her nightmares. It was why she had taken the beating from the caretaker, why she had given up five birthdays without a second thought, she could prolong death in a manner of speaking but couldn't really give them back their lives like a high ranking healer could. They were enthralled to her, but the prayer she spoke, the one sentence that she knew without having to be taught seemed to be the reason they kept who they were.
"No leader." she said simply, she was more than content to remain inside her own lane and do as she was told like she had her entire life, she had listened to Jin and Fredrick talking. That she would need to start evolving if she hoped to survive on her own, it had been happening slowly as she now sat at the table without being instructed and chose what she wanted to eat once a week. It wasn't a lot of progress but it was still steps in the right direction. She had even taken to going out on the evening on her own to pick up tasks from the black market without looking for permission to do so or requesting her veil when they left the house. The light still hurt even the moonlight did within reason but she was trying to seem normal and not draw attention to them.
She listened to the white-haired void mage as he tried to help her understand how to say the word. "Wol-per-tin-ger" she parroted, even though it was slow between each part of the word. She knew if she tried to speak it without breaking it down she'd likely still get it wrong but it was something she could practice so she was happy. "Deer bunny smiladon?" she said as if taking in what an odd creature could look like. She wondered if he was right about it looking like a giant cat, something like that would have been reported and would have likely been killed or put into captivity. Something small and fast would have been better especially in a town, it could move quickly and without too much notice. She looked at him as he said that they could likely narrow the search area.
As he continued to talk she realized she misunderstood what he meant by 'like a sabertooth'. He was talking about the teeth and not the size meaning it looked more like a rabbit that made a lot more sense in her eyes. She nodded and looked in the same direction that he had only knowing what he was looking towards as she couldn't read. It was the closest area to their current location, due to it being tucked away down an alleyway, then again the stench of the rotting food in the alleyway behind it helped with that too. It was kind of sad because from what she remembered it had some of the best meat in Kikka. She shook her head showing she agreed with what he thought, it wasn't blind obedience, in this case, it just made the most sense to her. It was plentiful for food, easy to escape and wasn't well travelled.
With the agreement made they walked in the direction of the butcher's shop, seeing him signal towards the roofs she looked up while listening to him. It seemed like a simple enough plan, even one that a brain dead idiot could follow. She was far from dumb, if she made mistakes then she had always been punished severely until she didn't. It was effective as anyone could imagine but it made her afraid to slip up even in the slightest, it was what also fed into her obedience. "No hurt. No kill." she once again parroted showing she understood the rules of their task and nodded showing she agreed with her role all she could do was wait until she was to play her part. She wished he spoke more on what he was going to be doing after her wolves chased it but remained quiet on the matter.
When she showed her approval all she could do was watch as he moved to the rooftops, she held her grimoire close awaiting the signal to summon her wolves. She wouldn't do it a moment before because it would be a waste of mana and even a single change in the surroundings could make it run away in a differing direction or have it remain in hiding. "Howl" she whispered allowing her mana to move to each side of the alleyway the moment she saw Jin give the thumbs up. A single dire wolf standing at two meters tall and was three meters from snout to the tip of their tail, their fur a dark grey almost black colour and golden amber eyes that look almost feral now stood at each side "chase." she whispered the moment she did they each ran towards the unaware Wolptinger, it darted in a random direction the moment it sensed the wolves until it took to the air trying to escape its predators.
A smirk was on the rogue's lips as Aeila's commenced with the plan to perfection. He watched as she summoned her wolves and gave the Wolpertinger chase. Now if his plan went correctly giving the creature nowhere to go but up, would force it to take flight. Which is exactly what he wanted. Jin stood back up on his feet and saw the Wolpertinger flying in the air, pressing both of his hands middle finger and ring finger together he started to activate a spell of his own. Since there was no eyes on him, using the spell was fine in his eyes. "Flauros." he said simply.
Within an instant an illusion was cast surrounding the Wolpertinger with multiple images of himself attempting to grab it. Using his control and sensory abilities he made sure Aeila was free from the illusion just in case. But the illusion started to cause the creature to focus and panic on the wrong things, taking it way off it's flight pattern and instead of going further up it started to come down towards the rooftop Jin was standing on. Using another function of his spell his own presence and mana signature completely vanished leaving the Wolpertinger thinking that landing on that roof was the safest move. Once it landed a very quick hand grabbed it with enough force for it not to wiggle it's way out. As Jin ended his spell sensing and seeing the real him was very easy. The blue eyed rogue looked the creature in it's face. "Aren't you a cute weird looking thing." he said simply.
Eventually making his way back down to Aeila's location, now holding the Wolpertinger with both hands making sure it was not injured. He had a soft smirk on his face. " Good job. Let's deliver the Wolpertinger and get going. What do you say?" he asked her walking towards the refuge as he saw no reason for her to say no."And on the way we can practice some more words."

She watched as her wolves executed her orders, she followed after them at her own pace as not to get too close and cause the plan to fail. She knew her wraiths were able to move the small distance as she had one at one side and one at the other, it was nothing more than forcing it up. Still, there was room for error and it was something she wasn't prepared to make happen if she could help it. As predicted the wolpertinger flew up to where Jin was waiting, within an instant he had cast a spell of his own, her wraith wolves coming to herself as to let her know that nothing had changed, it was only needed for a split second though as the mana that created the illusion quickly weaved around her to let her see the truth. She was thankful for this as her sensory was non-existent.
She watched as their prey got caught in the illusion and was obviously frightened, she felt sorry for the poor thing as she too knew what it was to be scared and confused due to not understanding what was going on. Standing still she watched as the wolpertinger landed on the roof near Jin. It must have likely believed like the others it was real but that just wasn't the case. And in one quick motion, it was over, Jin had grabbed the distressed animal tight enough it couldn't wiggle free but not so tight to cause damage. Moving down the alley she grabbed a wooden crate with a lid, some of the meat and placed it within it. It would be easier in her mind to pass guards with a box than a rare wild animal that was likely on some protective species list.
She just got back to her original spot dismissing her wraiths as she opened the crate lid wide enough that they could get it inside without harming it or it flying away. Seeing his smirk it was clear that the animal was unharmed which was what was asked of them, she nodded to his words smiling as they made their way back to the agents to hand in what was asked for and claim payment for their troubles.
