After the Zombie Hunt was done, Noah left with quite a good impression. He didn’t manage to win, but he has certainly proven to be a somewhat capable mage. Even though there were a few hiccups, he ended up in the second place, and well, that was the best possible result that could happen, given the fact he was up against Solarian Wolf. The first discipline has also sparked his interest in the whole event. There was plenty of fun stuff to do, and it was a good way to relax from his regular duties, while still practicing his skills, both in combat and out of it. [break]
As he wandered through the streets of Hage, there were so many things he could throw himself into right now, but he already made up his mind. There was a huge poster on one of the stands that screamed for attention. “MURDER MYSTERY! COME AND PROVE YOURSELF TO BE A DETECTIVE!” Noah definitely wasn’t a detective, but with his adventures requiring more and more thinking, he figured out this would be a good stop. He had no idea where exactly it was, but there was a giant arrow pointing further into the city. The attraction didn’t let him wait much longer, as he saw a rather beautiful house, at least to the standards of Forsaken Region. Huge two-story house that certainly didn’t belong to this village. Above one of the exits, there was a hand-made poster “MURDER HOUSE!” Noah was at the right place, and after a little moment of doubt, he decided to enter and find out how the game works, before actually joining it. After entering the house, it almost looked abandoned. There were dim candles in the corridor, keeping very little to no light source. There was a reception desk right next to the door, where a man dressed up as a scarecrow was sitting. Once he noticed Noah, he would quickly stand up and his face started glowing. “Hello, young sir! May I interest you in a thrilling game about life and death? About trust and doubt? You came to the right place! Please wait until me and my team set everything up!”Without having the chance to reply, the man would disappear somewhere in the back, and Noah was left confused in the entry. [break]
It took good ten minutes before the man would appear again, Noah was sitting on the floor by this time, and when he finally saw him, he stood up again. “Very well sir! Everything is ready. Now please, let´s wait for more participants, and then I will tell you how this will go on!” Noah just nodded, he was too far in it to cancel it, but this wasn’t exactly his idea of the game. There were approximately eight people right now. The administrator´s eyes were glowing, as he was obviously very glad to introduce this to everyone present. [break]
“Hello everyone, hope you are having splendid festivities! You have all been gathered here, to help us solve a mystery. Laura Crescent, wife of an old aristocrat was recently found dead in the chamber on the second floor, it was a horrible event. The corpse is still there if you wish to check. There were a lot of whispers about that dreadful event, and we have started a serious investigation. The good news, the investigation was successful! We have the murderer…. Now the hard part. The murderer is one of you! I have gathered you all here for one simple purpose. Find the murderer among yourselves, and make sure Laura gets the piece she deserves!” [break]
By this time, Noah was a little confused, it was obvious that he wasn’t the murderer, and there were seven other people in the room right now. How were they supposed to find out who it was when they hardly knew each other? Another question came to his mind, and while probably being rude, he would raise his hand, the man nodded and Noah hesitantly asked. “Is any of this real?” He scratched his head, but the man just laughed really hard. [break]
“Of course not, you dum-dum! However, there is a certain corpse upstairs. This whole event was organized by Hage´s theater. We are professionals who often tour the whole kingdom! Among you, there are several actors from our group. Needless to say, you will not find who they are instant, as they are great actors indeed! Your task is to communicate together, scout the house for any clues, work as a group. That is the only way to find out who did such a treacherous act!” The man stopped for a moment, looking briefly at all the participants. [break]
“Now there are only a few simple rules. One of you is the murder. The murderer can decide to murder people from the group, symbolically I mean! If they find you lurking alone, who knows what might happen. If you are murdered, you will have a red glowing mark on your forehead. That means you won´t be able to continue solving the mystery. If the murderer manages to kill all of you before you find out who they were, you lost the game and the ghost of Laura will be haunting the streets of Hage forever, or at least until the next year when the festival repeats. You cannot leave the house during this event. Every time someone is murdered, I will use my sound magic to announce it. You may move in the house freely, however, there might be some traps, jump scares, and even more actors. Hell, I wouldn’t even be surprised if there were some zombies!” The man finally stopped and looked at the clock, which suddenly started ticking. [break]
“You have exactly one hour to find who the murderer is. If you have any questions, please speak now. Otherwise, have a great investigation, and may there be no more blood spill!” [break]
After everyone else asked their questions, Noah didn’t have any left. His mind went directly to some tactics. It would be wise if they stuck together, this way the murderer wouldn’t dare and murder someone, as everyone else would see it. However, this was the only thing that came to his mind right now, and therefore he turned towards the group he was with, and with a smile, he would ask. “Do we have any suggestions on how to proceed?” Hoping that someone would take the initiative, he waited for suggestions.
