With the crows dead in the field, the rest of that particular night goes by splendidly as you find no signs to indicate that the scarecrows themselves were ever an issue. Once dawns comes, you explain the situation to the farmer, who tells you to either sit out the remainder of the day in a nearby tavern as he is not convinced. When you return at the start of the next night, you notice the amount of scarecrows has seemingly doubled, which is quite odd as the farmer has no knowledge of how they got there, claiming they just appeared. More importantly, as the sky grows darker and darker, you hear the howling of wolves in the distance.

[break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these crows being active at night is weird enough as it is as they are not known to be a nocturnal species. Flocking about and seemingly watching those from atop a barn or a fence as they move around the farmland, they bide their time and wait for the right moment to swoop down and attack in large numbers.
Health Limit: Intermediate [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Intermediate [break]Magic Element and Types: - [break]Combat Style: As can be expected of wolves, these beasts attack in ways that benefit one another. [break]Additional Information: With pale white eyes that seem to glow with the same intensity as the full moon, these wolves come in three different colors, which is by itself quite odd. Some of them are brown, some are grey while others are black as soot. Proving that they are more than likely not from the same litter, or even from the same part of the world, there is clearly something odd about them.
With his mind still pondering as to what had gotten into the minds of those crows that attacked them earlier, Griswold wondered as to what that strange mana had been about. When he had knocked his crows out rather than killing them, he could feel how a peculiar energy seemingly left their bodies, leaving them in a confused state. While that may have also been due to the fact that he had literally smacked them out of the air with his fists, Griswold believed that it had most likely been due to a mix of both. Hopefully, it wouldn’t be too long before something would pop up that would allow him to piece this together to whatever was going on around here, as he hated it when nature got put up to do someone else’s dirty work. Especially creatures that were normally not violent and really did not stand much of a chance against a human. Sitting down on a nearby fence, he just kept waiting.
As time went by, it did not take an overly long time before Griswold noticed something out of the corner of his eyes. Drawn there due to the faintest hint of mana, it seemed as if it had disappeared almost as soon as it came, leading him to question whether it had even been there in the first place. Normally his senses were among the things he trusted most, because they hadn’t sent him into the wrong direction yet so far, and most likely never would. Being among those things he had honed through rigorous training ever since he was a child, through struggle and through strife, he often doubted that there were those who had better senses than him, though they might be out there. It just meant that he hadn’t met them yet, which by itself was grounds enough for the elven mage to keep wanting to improve them when and where he could.
Strangely, when he looked to where this probable bit of mana may or may not have appeared, it seemed that several of the scarecrows had changed position. And perhaps it was just his mind playing tricks on him, but he could have sworn that there were somehow more of them now. Beginning to think about what Jun had said about how scary or “cool” it might have been for these things to actually be coming to life, the black swordsman hopped down from the fence and wandered over to the nearest one. Believing that if there were truly anything there, his body would warn him to the danger, he started putting his hand into it and feeling around. Still feeling nothing but clothing, the wooden frame and the straw that had been put between the two to give the thing more body, he turned his attention to the mercenary.
“Something’s not quite right… check the other scarecrows, make sure none of them are actually somehow weaponized.”
When he said weaponized, he did not mean they had turned into some explosive or something along those lines, clearly implying that one of these new ones might very well be a golem of some kind. Though it would be quite hard to believe since he could not sense any actual mana or motion from them whatsoever, the most likely thing to have happened here was the fact that they were just being played by someone around the farm somewhere. But again, that would mean that there would have been some kind of mana signature to sense and track, which there simply wasn’t at this time. For now, the only thing they could really do was to make sure none of these scarecrows would end up taking them off-guard and attacking them at the worst time imaginable. Once that had been resolved, they could move on from there.

Jin Zhongli
There were sometimes when doing certain jobs for people, where it could just get really...boring. Jin had been in the same place on top of the roof for quite sometime just waiting for whatever was going to happen to just happen. But in his time being raised as an assassin for hire, he had learned the value of patience and sometimes you did just need to wait for hours on end. But at least when he was waiting on someone in particular or following them there was something interesting to do and watch. But here he was just watching scarecrows that were already confirmed to be just that regular scarecrows.
After a few more hours went by, Jin already had convinced himself that this farmer was loosing it and nothing was really going on other than his own madness. Perhaps the chills and spooks of the season had gotten to him, and he wanted people to just watch over his farm land as he slept. As long as he got paid Jin didn't mind it, but he wouldn't be willing to do it again. So with that the white haired rogue dropped his guard, and made his way down from the roof with a quick hop and flip back down to the ground. A loud yawn escaped his mouth "Alright Griswold I think I'm going to call it a..."
Right when he was stating that the Solarian Wolf seemed to have spotted something as he put it not quite right. And surprisingly something wasn't quite right, Griswold was already checking inside the new scarecrows that seemed to have popped up out of nowhere. Did someone or better yet something slip through both of their senses and somehow more of the scarecrows were here. Now things were starting to get interesting maybe the farmer wasn't mad. "Right." Jin replied to Griswold and immediately started to check the other scarecrows and just like the ones he checked they were just normal scarecrows. Jin was a tad bit disappointed with the fact that they were not alive at all, still thinking seeing something along the lines of that would have been pretty cool. "Same over here, nothing." he shouted back to the swordsman.
Jin was a somewhat of a sensory mage, for his own current level his sensory was adequate. But he knew Griswold's sensory was far superior to his own a the moment. So it was quite surprising on how these knew scarecrows showed up and slipped past his sensory, to Jin that is what made this all the more interesting. So now he was thinking it was probably time to start taking this more seriously as there actually could be a real threat here. "So now we know it's something real. I was starting to have my doubts. Now we just gotta find out what exactly is going on." Jin said out loud to Griswold. The white haired rogue turned to face the farmer's house and saw the farmer looking outside the window with a nasty look on his face, he didn't really have the face of a humble and scared farmer. But his face was saying something else, Jin just had no idea what it was really. It would make no sense for this to be a set up, but now Jin wasn't going to ignore the fact that whatever this was it could be anything.
His eye contact with the farmer though broke when the howling of wolves could be heard in the distance, and it sounded like quite a few of them. Jin had looked out and then turned and looked back to the house, seeing the farmer was now gone. Probably to go hide and protect himself, at least that's what Jin would like to think. With the wolves approaching Jin called out to Griswold. "I'll follow your lead."

Interestingly enough, it seemed that neither he nor Jun were able to find anything that was wrong with these scarecrows, which was by itself more bothersome to him than it would have been if they actually found something there. It implied that there was something off with his senses, that he was picking up on things that seemed to not be there at all. While that still would not go on to explain why these things had switched places from where they had originally stood, he had to factor in the idea that they might be getting tricked. That this was all part of some elaborate scheme aimed to pester people that came to look into the notice that had been posted by the farmer. But this was more than just some kind of joke to be played upon the farmer, as it was now being played on a magic knight and a mercenary, meaning all of this would cost the guy some money.
Still looking around to figure out if maybe they had missed the signs of some kind of mechanism that made all of these things move from some further away position, he still couldn’t shake the idea that he had sensed something. But he had to put that thought away for the time being, as he could now actually sense something similar to the birds. Believing it might be the same thing he had only managed to scan a glance of for a fraction of a second, it did not take long before whatever it was revealed itself.
“You’re right, we should have a chat with the farmer to see what is going on. In fact, why don’t you go ahead and learn all that you can while I deal with these real quick.”
Believing it to be wise to send someone to go and protect the farmer and at the same time figure out exactly what the man knew about the situation he and his farm had been thrown into, and because he would rather be the one who handled the encroaching wolves. Knowing the limits of his physical strength quite well, as well as being aware of the flanking methods they applied when trying to bring down a foe, Griswold was the best fit when it came to fighting these animals and making sure they would survive the encounter. While he did not doubt Jun in terms of capabilities, he had seen how he had dispatched the crows earlier, and would rather see to the continued survival of these animals if at all possible. Due to the fact that the wolves lingered in the tall vegetation of the fields for a while, it would have given Jun plenty of time to make his way over to the front door to enter the building and begin searching for the missing farmer.
Regardless of whether he would stay or do as Griswold had asked of him, the black swordsman would unclasp the harness from the front, causing it to fall down from his back and to the floor along with the two sheathed blades attached to it. Doing the same to his cloak to allow for easier maneuvering and making sure the wolves would not end up ripping the thing to shreds, he made his way over to the nearest wolf. Even with his widened focus, his speed was quite far beyond that of the wolves, allowing him to strike a knuckled blow to the skull of his first target. Slamming it into the soil quite hard, his extrasensory abilities took note of a second wolf lunging at him from the side. Realizing these were classic wolf moves where one would draw attention so another could go for the throat of the occupied prey, Griswold angled his body and let the beast move past him. Using the momentum of its leap as he grabbed the beast with both hands, he twirled on his feet and threw the wolf back into the field.
Tossing it into a crow that had been apparently crouching in the tall vegetation, it might have been taken out, though it caused the others that seemed to have been watching closely to take to the skies. Following the behavior of these animals, it was quite clear that there was something controlling them, causing some to partake in some very activities. That said, it was quite clear that it know all about how wolves acted in the wild, what with making use of their flanking methods perfectly. Clearly sensing the same kind of mana in the wolves he had assaulted as he had felt within the birds earlier, he was slowly but surely getting a better idea as to what all of this was. Because by now, even a complete idiot would have been able to tell that whatever was going on, the creatures at least were under some form of control. Smacking an attacking bird of the sky with the back of his hand as it approached, he hoped Jun would fare better and might get some information.

It was quite odd the arrival of more wolves, and now the crows once again. This time they were more in number than before, apparently whatever this was now knew of Griswold and Jin at least that's what it told him. Jin was prepared to fight again his spear in his dominant hand with one twirl it was readied for action. His light spear had it's many uses, but every time he held it something felt wrong. Truth be told he was never much into long weapons, he was proficient in their use of course but it wasn't really his preferred style. He had to think of ways to profit off this weapon, he was sure someone somewhere wanted it for it's attacking and healing abilities.
Surprisingly though Griswold recommended that Jin speak with the farmer instead, this was surprising to him. He was sure Griswold could handle the incoming threats on his own without much struggle. But still Jin was used to working for his pay, but it wasn't such a bad idea. So there was no reason to not do it. "Oh. Ok. If you're sure, be safe!" Jin said simply resting his spear on his shoulder and started to walk to the front porch of the house. He turned his head back the solar swordsman once more and saw flinging a wolf around and a smirk was on his face. He knocked on the door twice and waited before knocking again three times this time. The farmer couldn't pretend he wasn't home, since they already made eye contact. But he could just not feel comfortable opening the door with the attacks going on inside. Truthfully Jin could get in without much trouble at all, and he wouldn't have to use force either. Lock picking was also a skill of his when he needed it, though most times he could just erase the door in front of him. But this wasn't one of those situations. A few seconds past and the farmer looked through the window seeing Jin, where the white haired rogue waved to him with a big bright smile on his face. It was an amusing look, but the farmer wasn't amused at all. Jin pointed to the door, and the farmer begrudgingly came and opened the door.
Now his focus was figuring out what this farmer was about, he was suspicious of him and how he was acting. Jin's work most of the time dealt with people whether he was stealing from them, extorting them, interrogating them or getting rid of them and on rare occasions saving them and rescuing them. It all just depended on whom was paying the most at the time. So Jin going to talk to the farmer honestly felt natural to him. If something was going on he was sure he could at least start to figure it out.
"What do you want? Shouldn't you be out there fighting them creatures? And not bothering me." the farmer said as soon as the door was fully opened. He was a tall guy not as tall as Jin though, and he was much older but it was easy to tell he still kept himself busy with physical work. No actually the better look he got at him, his build was more than just standard farm work. He looked as if he had seen combat in his life time.
"Don't mean to be a bother, but in order to get to the bottom of whatever this is. I wanna talk to you for a bit." Jin replied to him quickly still standing outside. The farmer looked at him and then out to Griswold whom would still be out fighting all the wolves and crows. He grunted then stepped to the side in order to let Jin in. "Shouldn't you be helping your friend out there? He's severely out numbered." Jin took the opportunity to step in his home, immediately scanning the scenery to spot anything that stood out. "Oh him? Trust me he prefers it this way. I don't think he liked how I handled the crows from earlier." Jin answered him leaving his spear at the door, this action was done to give the farmer some security that he was not aiming to attack him or pose a threat. "May I leave my spear here? If you don't mind." Jin asked him. The farmer hesitated before nodding. From what Jin could tell nothing immediately in the room stood out to him, till he saw it. A red vintage Crimson Lion magic knight mantle was hanging on his wall. So he was a magic knight?
"Whathya mean he didn't like the way you handled the crows? You took em all down didn't cha?" the farmer brought up the topic once more. Walking over to his big chair there was a small limp in each step, Jin could tell he was doing his best to hide it. And it probably would have fooled others. "That's what I'm paying ya to take em all down permanently. I don't want them back on my land." he continued taking a seat on his chair looking straight up at Jin, his fingers gripping into his arm chair. "Well technically you're not paying us for that but, I think he's trying to find another way to solve this problem of yours. Without to much blood being shed." Jin replied believing that was the best way to put things for this subject. The farmer just grunted in return it was obvious this detail was bothering him. Jin decided to take a seat in the chair not far from the farmers. "You ain't worried about him?"
Jin smirked "Nope not in the least bit. He is very capable. You might have heard of him, who knows. Anyways. Just out of curiosity when did you notice these scarecrows started appearing?" the white haired rogue asked him. The question seemed to make the farmer uncomfortable though, just for a second. Perhaps he was trying to remember when exactly. "Just a few weeks ago. My wife started to notice them first. I didn't think much of it then, but I noticed them a little after that. And now I want them gone, but they keep coming back." the farmer's voice started to rise and get a little angrier. "And it's only getting worse out there."
Jin took notice to his tone and his anger, while he had a very valid reason to be upset it seemed out of place to him. "Well I think the arrival of the crows and wolves is a sign. A good sign or bad sign we will find out, but a sign of things being set in motion. Perhaps whatever it is that is 'haunting' your farm will reveal itself soon enough." Jin said to him speaking his honest truths on the matter. While of course keeping some more inner thoughts to himself. "How long have you been farming here?" Jin asked his next question hoping to get more details.
The farmer looked away then looked back towards Jin. "Why you asking?" was all he said his voice had just a tiny hint of annoyance. "Just out of curiosity. If you've been here long, it would make the arrival of these scarecrows even more weird. But we can probably start to pin it to certain things. To help us figure out what is what." Jin replied with a simple honest tone.
"This been my land for a long time."
"Was there anything in particular that may have caused this, a disturbance or anything?" Jin asked him next, to which the farmer just looked at him with stern eyes. "No and this is starting to feel like an interrogation."

Regardless of the reason, if there were some things Griswold hated, it were people who acted like they owned every form of natural life in an area just because they purchased the rights to the soil. Another thing he hated was when something took control of the wildlife and made them do horrible things, putting themselves at risk so whatever culprit could just sit back and wait while remaining completely unharmed. It wasn’t too long ago that Griswold had encountered a fairly similar situation, when the town of Hage had been under threat by wolves that were getting increasingly close to their farmland while driven to acts of aggression out of sheer hunger and malnourishment. When he looked closer into the matter, it turned out that this was all due to some artifact called the Bloodstone, which was located inside of a cave deeper in the forest. An artifact that allowed a werewolf that dwelled there control over other forms of lupine life.
Wolves, Wargs, even other werewolves were all under the control of the “top dog”, which created some incredibly dangerous situation near Hage, which was not something Griswold could condone, for obvious reasons. Believing the lives of peasants were generally hard enough without some kind of influence caused by sentient monsters, it was something that had been punished accordingly. At the time, he had taken down various Wargs with his bare hands, and it was quite well known that the average Warg was a lot more ferocious than the grey wolves one encountered in these parts, controlled or not. In a sense, it filled him with the kind of confidence he needed to take these beasts out without the use of magic, or having to pull a weapon and risk either accidentally killing or maiming them for the rest of their days.
With a swift kick, Griswold knocked a wolf several meters through the air before it fell into the dirt, slapping down several more crows that came flocking to him in an attempt at tearing into his face with their talons. And while Griswold might not have been in the business of having the most mana of anyone around, there was one thing that could not be denied, this being the fact that he had what was likely one of the densest mana skins in the entire country. So if some wolf or crow, or rather the person controlling them believed that they were going to get through that with tooth or claw, they had another thing coming. Becoming somewhat aggressive in his approach as he was done fighting controlled puppets, the black swordsman began tapping into his true speed, the thing he generally kept hidden as he did not need to move at high speeds constantly.
If he let it out in short bursts, it would always keep enemies guessing as to what he could do, at how fast he could truly go, which was no different with these animals. Clearly catching them off guard, he punched the nearest wolf a fair distance across the field, followed by another pair of their temporary avian allies. In a way it was quite funny how this person controlling these animals believed that these were the kinds of creatures one would consider using against a trained magic knight in this fashion. Had it been him, he would have taken his loss and tried again elsewhere, which just went to show that whoever was behind this had different motives that Griswold either did not understand yet, or showed that this individual was just plain stupid. Tenaciously stupid. Though that gave him an idea, or rather, a hunch as to something he might be able to attempt.
“Whoever you are, I imagine that if you can control these animals, you’ll be able to see and hear what is transpiring here. So hear me when I say that when I find you, you will answer for the suffering you’ve caused them, several times over.”
As things were, it made sense to believe that this person would be able to figure out what was being said by Griswold. After all, he had to control these animals into doing their bidding, which meant they had to be able to at the very least hear or see some of what was going on. Otherwise, it seemed like it would be rather difficult to pull this whole thing of, or so he assumed. Watching as the remaining animals were just stand around for a bit, almost as if the one controlling them was thinking over the things he had just heard, it was not long before what animals he had left at his disposal were just thrown at the magic knight. Realizing that this person had understood him entirely well, it meant that they did not care for threats or anything else Griswold had to say to him.
Pulling out all of the stops, the elf used his flat hands just slap the birds hard enough to make them go down, with the wolf leaping at him and getting struck straight in the sternum with Griswold’s open palm, what animals remained had all been systematically taken down. The fun part about it was how it proved to him that all of the training he had gone through to prepare himself for the great obstacle had paid off to some extent. Still, whether it would be anywhere near enough to deal with the whole Aamon situation, that remained to be seen. Scuffing as he spat on the ground, he began doing what he believed to be the right thing, which was to wait for Jun to finish up inside of the building so they could go about the information he had obtained. But while he waited, Griswold began collecting all of the beaten crows from the area.
Putting them into the same spot he had put all of the other crows, giving them the time they needed to rise from under their stupor and make their way up into the wild blue yonder. If he left them where they were, there was a good chance one of the wolves was going to just gobble them up off of the ground and snack on them while they were woozy from the beating. Only going as far as moving two of the wolves by hand, he made sure to grapple their head in a way that wouldn’t allow them to bite him, all while moving them a bit further from the farm, as well as the birds. As long as everyone remained inside and waited for the wolves to leave on their own accord, everything was going to work out just fine.

A small smile appeared on Jin's face when the farmer stated how he was feeling about these questions. While the farmer didn't lash out in any anger or frustrations things were becoming slightly more clear at least to Jin. He didn't have exact details yet but now he wasn't so blind anymore. "Oh? Interrogation? No no this is not that trust me. The more information about you and this farm only helps us in solving what is going on. By the way whats your name?" Jin asked him in a honest voice.
The farmer grunted seemingly coming to an understanding, but he was still a bit nervous. "Just call me Liston." Something had definitely transpired here and Liston was holding back some truth. Jin was pretty confident in that thought, but he doubt he would get him to reveal anything that was a to obvious. For now he still had to work and look for his answers elsewhere. He looked towards the red Magic Knight Mantle once more, deciding it was time to ask him about it.
He casually gestured to Crimson Lions mantle and asked. "How long ago were you a magic knight?"
Liston looked surprised as he turned to his head to look at it, as if he had forgotten it was there. Hinting that it may have been quite sometime. "I-I forget that's hanging up there sometimes. It was a different life back then, Years ago I served and was proud to serve."
Jin looked slightly surprised, not by what he said but how he said it. It seemed to open up old wounds for him. Jin never had any quarrel with magic knights in particular, in some ways he admired them and in others he could careless about them. In his line of work he met all sorts of magic knights, some whom didn't deserve their colors and while others liked to go above and beyond. Griswold out there was one of the one's that liked to go above and beyond. He couldn't say he knew the Solarain Wolf particularly well, but what he did know about him he admired.
As for the white haired rogue he would lying if he didn't think how his life would be different if he was a magic knight. Saving lives and being honorable he would probably be apart of the Azure Deer given his skills, it was a fun headspace only for a few though. If he thought about it for to long, he would get bored cause for him being on the other side of law was just more appealing. And it was the necessary path for him.
"A Crimson Lion too? Long way from the Capitol I thought they would give retirees a home of their own in the Capital for serving the Lions?" Jin mentioned and asked Liston. The rogue was quite knowledgeable on most factions in Clover, especially the Magic Knights. Only because he had to be, one didn't survive being a rogue for long without knowledge. But what he was saying was rather common knowledge for those that lived in the Capital. Liston looked surprised to hear it though, and had a look on his face that wanted to ask how Jin knew of such things. "How'd you know that?" he asked looking Jin up and down. To which he replied. "Who wouldn't know that, unless you live way out here in the Forsaken Region. But once you visit the Capital it's all a retired Crimson Lion vet ever talks about." Jin said a small chuckle.
Liston got up suddenly and started making his way towards the door. "I think we've spoken enough tonight. Find out what's happening with my farm, or your not getting paid." He said opening the door and looking outside, only to see Griswold finishing his fight with all the wolves and crows all of them knocked out on the grass. Jin grabbed his spear and walked outside with a smile on his face. "See told'ya he could handle it all on his own! It was nice chatting Liston!" the rogue said to him with a simple wave as he walked towards Griswold.
