The Black Bulls and the Crimson Lions have set up a mock “war” event for the holiday fun and to keep everyone's hearts light even during these troubled times. With the almost “sibling” style rivalry between the Crimson King Ardere and the Black Bull himself Malcolm they have decided to end the year with the biggest contest they could bet on. This year the set up between the Crimson Lions and the Black Bulls is likely to cause a new trend that will last as long as the Magic Knights will exist, with everyone positioned to participate in the merriment at the cost of the two larger than life figures. Of course throughout the mock war, players will be able to congregate and socialize in the best decorated mess halls that the two squads can provide on such short notice. There will be refreshments both alcoholic and nonalcoholic in nature, with food served up by their respective squads.
The Crimson Lions occupy the Seigard training fortress, turning it into a palace of ice and snow where they defend the treasury of the Candylion King Ardere Kasai. It is here that the mages that have been hired will create large walls and routes in and out of the fort to be used in a war of attrition, painting the snowballs red with the creative use of a hybrid ice magic user.
The Black Bulls are assaulting the fortress in the name of their beloved taskmaster Malcolm Wattanabe in order to bring the candy back to the beloved people of Clover. Their Forward Operating Base is being constantly restocked with snowballs made of black ice and snow much like their red counterparts.
Pick a side and fight for the right to become the heroes of the Yule Event. Of course…snowballs can only hurt so much, but representatives from each squad will be around to keep things fair. These do not have to be actual Player Characters, but NPC’s as well and once you are struck you are expected to return back to base. So dodge, dip, dive, duck, and doge and may the best squad win.

”Alright you slouches, get that damn tent pole up so we can get the fire going…its cold out here!” Malcolm Wattanabe, the Black Bull…captain of the Black Bulls called out as he oversaw the construction of the last tent personally, but lo and behold…the men were weak and could not hoist the tentpole properly. The man walked over and grabbed the tree trunk sized pole and hoisted it up as the tent lifted with it, and as he did so the members gawked and then rushed to their anchor points to get the pole secured before the big event was sto start. This area would be the mess hall and the decorations would be set up not too long after…it was barely after sunrise and the man was already ready to just have a smoke and relax. However, he was NOT going to look like a fool in front of the Crimson Lions…Ardere was NOT getting bragging rights over this little stunt.
”Put your backs into it, or you can go home and not receive the presents I got you all!” Malcolm bellowed out as the tent went up and the Forward Operating Base was soon fully operational. Cheers echoed out across the snowfield as people began to arrive on broom, carriage, and foot. Stands were put up and tents set up for spectators and competitors. A large tree was set up in the Mess Hall with the Black Bull emblem as the crown jewel on the top.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Normally one would not expect someone like Franklin Stein to want to participate in frivolity or senseless games. However, the mad mage was quiet interested in seeing how the Yuletide snowball war would go. It wasn't that he had any particular interest to hit anyone with snowballs. He wasn't exactly known for his physical prowess so it wasn't likely that he was going to hit much of anything during the war. Nor did he think his intellect would be able to be applied to tactics where a snowballs were concerned. Still, it was a chance to support his fellow Forsaken Region squad, the Black Bulls. Most importantly it was a chance to see a wide array of Magic Knights and citizens and how they might approach the whole affair. Some, will likely be as flippant about the whole thing as he was, but he was sure there were others who would take the whole thing rather seriously. Or at least try their best to defeat the other side in this competitive battlefield. Frankie was looking forward to collecting a wide catalogue of data on all the participants. He'd be calculating relative speed of people as they ran around, strength of arm as they threw snowballs, as well as whatever application of magic they chose to use to give themselves an edge during the whole affair. Even if most people were holding back it still would give him precious information that he could work off of during his calculations for months to come.
Despite the cold weather Frankie had come wearing the typical outfit he always wore. The only thing that had been added to the whole affair was a number of satchels worn loosely around his lab coat. They were large enough that they probably could have fit any number of snowballs, but that was not why he had worn them. Instead each held rolls of parchment and writing utensils so that he could write as much as he desired and safely tuck everything away so that nothing became ruined if he were to be hit by an errant snowballs. His green mantle probably didn't do him many favors as far as blending in, but he supposed if he was going to be participating he should probably represent his Squad. Least this way if he ever worked with other Black Bulls in the future, besides Griswold of course, they might remember his participation here today and act more favorably towards him.
Although he could hear the Captain of the Black Bulls bellowing for people to prepare for the day ahead Franklin had opted to merely make the rounds and start his note taking. He made notes on how they arranged their tents and what if any magic they might have used to fortify their position. Every Squad had their own way of doing things and Black Bull was likely no different. If anyone tried to call to him to ask him to assist in anything involving physical labor Franklin merely stared at them for a long second before promptly turning the other direction and walking away. Didn't they see he was quiet busy advancing his academic understanding?! Eventually though he did end up near the mess hall where he imagined most people would likely congregate at as everything drew closer. It seemed like the most convenient place for any plans or strategies to be drawn up before they made their attack. "I wonder if they have a roster somewhere I can look at. Or perhaps a signup sheet? I don't remember seeing anything like that?" Frankie mumbled the question to himself as he looked around, waiting to see if he would spot anyone he knew or at least someone who looked suitably strong enough. Surely someone here would be willing to draw any fire directed at him for the sake of science!

Rank & Element: Junior Class & Type: Accessory Magic Specializations: N/A Appearance & Lore: The Magic Knight Mantle is an Item in which Magic Knights wear to show the Squad that are in. Each Squad has a different color Mantle along with their own squad logo as well. When these items were built they were made out of a special material that allows them to be unbreakable from any sort of attack, but does not block the wearer from any attacks. Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom has worn these Mantles for hundreds of years. Abilities:
When he had first heard about his squad hosting a Yule event along with his former squad, the Crimson Lions, Griswold had his reservations about joining. While he obviously had better things to do in the countryside, like dissuading bandits and wild animals alike from stirring up trouble in an already troubled region of the land, there was a part of him that felt obligated to join. Not being the kind of guy that was ever really around at the compound at all due to the hectic life of being on the open road and in the wilderness for most days out of the year, perhaps now was the time to show his face. Having to travel all the way down from the Fringe to the Black Bulls headquarters, Griswold did not exactly envy the people that had arrived before him as it meant not having to be part of the grunt work in setting things up.
Arriving on horseback, Griswold took Nuck into the stable and filled the trough with oats, believing it had earned a breather and a treat for the hard work he had done for the black knight. Seeing as how the horse would hardly do him any good if he were to bring it along for the competition, he closed the door behind him and wandered into the courtyard. From there, he could see his captain yelling at people to get a tent set up properly, at least up until the point where he just took care of it himself. Things like that often made him wonder how strong the man actually was, in terms of physique at least. Since his magical skills were at the very least of a high enough level to warrant becoming captain to one of the magic squads, that part did not leave a whole lot of room for pondering. And while their personalities were vastly different, they did have a fair number of things in common too.
They both possessed a lot of physical strength, allowing them to pull off feats most average human beings would struggle with when unaided by magic. They both also possessed beast magic, which was a rather peculiar and rare type of magic he had not really seen put to use all that often, even now that he actually knew how to use it himself. With limited knowledge and almost no training in that area just yet, it was just one of many things Griswold wished to work on at some point in the near future. And finally, there was the fact that they both possessed two different types of magic, which seemed to be something that was not all that rare among the magic knights anymore these days, as more and more seemed to figure out ways of tapping into new and powerful forms of magic in the same way he had.
Turning his attention away from the man himself, he went on towards another arrival that seemed to not have been around for a whole lot longer than he had. Though it was still a somewhat new face to him, it was one he had encountered several times in recent weeks, which by itself was quite funny, but not at all strange. As an active member of the Green Mantis squad, Franklin worked within the same region as himself during most ordinary days, so it made sense for them to run into one another from time to time. Truth be told, he had seen more of the man lately than he had seen his own squad mates, another thing part of him should probably feel ashamed for. Still, he knew that the kind of work he was doing in the name of the Bulls was what truly mattered and paid off, given how they were the ones that were racking in the golden stars for all of his hard work.
“Greetings Franklin, it would seem that we meet again, this time under less stressful circumstances. Did you decide upon which team you’d be backing for the duration of this little makeshift warfront?”
Coming right out with the most obvious of questions, Griswold imagined he would likely be siding with the Black Bulls, as that would have been what he had done were he a Green Mantis. They were both squads stationed in the forsaken region, so it made sense to show some solidarity towards one another that way. That said, he was a bit of an oddball, so it would make an equal amount of sense for him to pick the team that was supposed to be against them, which might also be fun as it would allow him to dish out some frozen punishment in the form of snowballs for no reason other than wanting to do so.
Ozma stretched his limbs as he flexed his fingers in their gloves to get ready for the battle that was about to commence, while it wouldnt be a bloody battle Ozma knew it would be fierce considering it was two magic knight squads battling it out on a no holds bar snowball fight. The mute mage was dressed much more warmly then usual with a heavy cloak over his normal coat and his Crimson Lion Mantle around his shoulders while his trusty spirit Iris was located on his shoulder as usual not effected by the cold as his rainbow wings seemed to shine brightly in the air, as they headed for the location of their base for the event. The paint mage pulled out a small book and started to read a bit while headed for their destination while Iris hummed a soft tune to keep her partner calm and focused for the upcoming event.
However as they approached the battlefield Ozma didnt watch where he was going and the elder Yuiee knocked into the black bull Griswold a bit as he passed and blinked as he glanced at him while still moving past towards the Crimson Lions temporary base. It was Iris that gave a small apologetic wave.”apologies but we are in a bit of a hurry my partner wanted to have me explain that to you, good luck though and enjoy watching our squad win” she explained her tone polite though a bit teasing at the end as Ozma kept moving and knew that if he stopped to explain his being mute to the man it would put him behind on time more then he already was, if he had an issue Ozma would gladly deal with it but for now his squad had a snowball fight to win by a landslide.

[attr="class","taiyoscroll"]Winter, the time of year where everything got cold. As such it should come to no surprise that this was Taiyo’s least favorite season. He preferred summer where it was warm and great for training, where the sun shone brightly over Clover Kingdom instead of having chills and blizzards. He preferred seasons where he didn’t have to wear that much clothing. Luckily for him, he didn’t mind using his mana to keep himself warm. Having grown a significant amount since he joined the Magic Knights, his control over his mana was much better. It was almost impressive and once he was stronger than his sister, he vowed to show her that he wasn’t that little boy who was weak any more but more of a person who was powerful. Sure, she would still have the drive to protect her family but he wouldn’t need to be protected like how he used to. That being said, he grabbed his scarf and wrapped it around his neck. For the time being, Cyra was staying inside Taiyo’s grimoire and if need be, he would let her out. As he stepped through the door of his chambers, he came face to face with his sister who was grinning like an idiot. “You look all ready to go! Now let’s go since we are probably going to be late if we delay.”

Hopping on their brooms, the Vermillion siblings departed for Aristaeus’ Basin where The Crimson Lions and The Black Bulls were going to face off in a fierce snowball fight. These kinds of laid back events were a nice way to get downtime seeing how hard the magic knights and by extension the royal knights worked. On arrival, Taiyo and Leona landed close to Ozma. Sorry if we are late but sis and I are here to join the fun.

[attr="class","ardereescroll"]A smirk crossed Ardere Kasai's pale lips as he tossed a cigarette into the snow. Sizzling from the reaction of heat versus the cold, he quickly ceased this reaction with a stomp of his foot. Exhaling smoke into the cold air, he found himself sporting an excited demeanor. I have to admit, if it can't be Zaven then I'm glad it's you Malcolm. We're going to have an extraordinary battle, that much I can assure you. Snapping his fingers, all of the torches in their fortress lit ablaze with the strength of a small bonfire. There was a time the Crimson Lion would not have taken part in such a childish game, but times have changed. After the loss he had experienced over these few years, he had grown to find events like this a beautiful addition to his precious memories. After all what did one have left in the end other than memories? [break][break] So he'd take part in this snowball fight and he'd sure as hell win. We've got stiff competition, Lions. But don't let that discourage you. Mount defenses along the perimeter. We've got a treasury to defend! Shouting to his squad members, the Captain himself began to prepare for their upcoming battle. They would not have much time before Malcolm mounted an assault. While he was a brash brute of a man, he likely would have some sort of plan cooked up for their assault. His fur coat began to shift back and forth, a gorgeous embroidered Crimson Lion logo on the back of it. Not many would recognize it, but those who did would know this as the coat of Lysander; Ardere's former mentor and previous Crimson Lion Captain. It was one of the few things of his to survive the Diamond war, yet here it was draped across his shoulders with pride. While he could utilize fire magic to regulate his body temperature, one did not have to sacrifice fashion of course. [break][break] The Black Bulls and allies will come at us hard, so we need to build some defense walls. Stockpile on snowballs. I want every corner of this place on lockdown. No one gets in or out without my knowing. Picking up a red colored snowball, it began to melt in his hand. The fight had not yet begun, but he could already feel the excitement welling up in his stomach.
[attr="class","florencetext"] It was once again Yule time in the Clover Kingdom which of course meant that the Yule Festival was once again in full swing. Of course, just like the past years, the events of this festival were different than the previous ones. Well other than the ball that happened every year which Lydia would have to show up to at some point. However, the event that caught the former vice-captain's eye the most was a snowball fight between the Crimson Lions and Black Bulls. [break][break] Everyone of course was invited to join one of the sides. With Lydia being the former vice-captain of the Crimson Lions it would have been fair to assume she would side with her old squad. She however decided to switch things up and side with the black bulls this time which meant she would get to face her old captain which was always fun. The pink and orange-haired mage arrived a little later than she would have liked but it couldn't be helped as matters in Carrion required her attention before she could leave. [break][break] Luckily however it seemed the "battle" had yet to start. She would pull a cigarette out using her light magic and light it taking a drag off it before making her way into Malcolm's command tent. It's your lucky day Malcolm I decided to join your team. I'll keep Ard busy so you can have the rest of the team focus on whatever you need them to without worrying about him. Assuming the black bull's captain didn't need her for anything at the moment she would grab a few snowballs putting them in a bag she brought with her before heading toward the base the crimson Lions were set to defend. [break][break] As she passed by Griswold, Taiyo, Ozma, and another person she didn't actually know she would wave at the four but would keep walking. Her goal was to get to the enemy base as fast as possible before they could reinforce enough to make it a pain for her to get inside. After all the faster she could take Ardere out of the picture the faster her team would gain the edge. Once she got out of sight from the four mages she would hide her mana. She knew it wouldn't hide her from people that could use Ki but as far as she knew the only person on the Crimson Lion's team that could use it was Ard so it would get the job done since she couldn't use magic. [break][break] After a few minutes, she would arrive at the base making sure to keep out of sight of the members patrolling the outside. She would then use her natural sensory to spot Ard and a smile would come across her face as she noticed an open window in the room he was at. The Ravencrest would then back up a few meters before taking off running at full speed before jumping through the window. Landing inside the base as Ard was giving his orders. [break][break] Hey captain do you mind coming with me? Lydia wouldn't wait for Ard to answer instead she would just run towards him at full speed before trying to grab him by the shirt. Assuming it worked she would then try and throw him full force through a wall that lead outside of the base before heading after him as she knew the fall wouldn't be dangerous for him.

Malcolm was happy to have Ardere as his opponent and when he made the comment that if it was not Zaven he was glad it was him it made the Black Bull laugh and breathe in a lung full of smoke before blowing it out into the air. "Oh trust and believe Crimson King! I will show you that not only can I make this family of outcasts one of the strongest in the country, but I will be sure to free that treasury for the people! Zaven ain't got nothing on me!" He laughed before packing a snowball and giving a signal for those that were on his team to attack.
Lydia Ravencrest, the other Royal Knight captain joined the Black Bull team and Malcolm chuckled as she stated that she would help them and hold down Ardere so that they could do their charge. "Good, give it all you got Lydia and I will be sure to buy even more wine for the celebration!" He bellowed as he began to move towards the castle.
While speaking to Franklin, a lot of things suddenly started happening as people began arriving one after the other, showing that things were starting to get into full motion. With Captain Ardere arriving and making his way over to the fortress of the “enemy” Crimson lions, Lydia arriving and heading over towards the same fortress not much later after claiming to be on the side of the Bulls in this one, as well as Taiyo entering the fray and making his way to the fortress after he and the girl he brought claiming that they were late. Making it look like things were rapidly about to start kicking off from here on out, he felt someone approaching him. Turning to face their direction, it wasn’t long before they bumped right into him. While it did little to shake the man, it made him wonder who it was that was just daydreaming their way through.
Judging by the expression on his face, this had clearly not been his intention, so there wasn’t much use in causing a ruckus. Finding it odd that he would just keep moving onward towards the crimson lion base even after the fact, Griswold scratched himself behind the ear before a girl started talking to him. Apologizing for the other and making it clear that they were in a hurry to reach their base, she also shared the sentiment that they were about to see how the Black Bulls were going to lose. Huffing out a bit of air as a partial grin formed on his face, it was clear to see how some of the people here cared a lot about taking the win for their respective teams. And even though Griswold himself was never really the type to care a whole lot for these sorts of games, he figured he’d much rather win if he could help it.
“You’re forgiven, though I suggest getting a move on. It seems some of us have already started, and I’d hate for you to have to lose to the Bulls.”
While it would have been easy to just pick up a snowball and toss them at their backs for a few easy points, especially as it seemed that Ardere and Lydia had already more or less started with their antics, Griswold was not the kind of dishonorable prick that wanted to earn his points that way. Instead, he picked up a bunch of snowballs and rested them against his cloak with his sleeve, allowing him to bring at least five snowballs into the fray, not counting the one he held in his hand. Figuring that as long as he did not rest them directly against himself, that they wouldn’t go about melting, he looked out across the soon-to-be battlefield from their side of things. Once everyone would be in position and ready to go, that was when he would start moving out into the fight.
