Everything has been peaceful in Nairn snow has come, and everyone is enjoying their time preparing for the Yule Festivities. Though some of the kids who wander into the nearby forest have come back to town scared, and sometimes even a little bruised up. Upon inspection when some of the adults have gone to see what lies beyond they have come back injured as well. According to all accounts it appears some of the nearby deer have been mutated by large amounts of mana, and become quite aggressive. It is up to you to fend them off, and prevent the townsfolk from being harassed further.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie had already been in the area taking part in other odd jobs when he had heard rumors and talk about overly aggressive reindeer in the area. At first it had been children complaining about being unable to play in the forests without being harassed by the antler adorned animals. Frankie at the beginning hadn't paid it much mind. After all, he had been in the forest not that long ago to collect wood for the struggling father and his golems had not reported back any such hostile behavior. Then again he had made sure to specifically avoid any wildlife or other people while he had been in the forest. He hadn't wanted to be disturbed during his reading and collecting firewood wasn't worth having to come to any physical altercations with any territorial animals. However, it soon wasn't just the complaints of children that were starting to make their way back to Frankie. Apparently the adults themselves, had tried to deal with the reindeer and had found themselves the target of aggression as well. A couple of kids might accidentally stumble upon reindeer as they competed and prepared themselves for mating season and without understanding what was going on make themselves a target for the males. However, adults should know better. He doubted any of them would make the same mistake.
Finding himself intrigued the mad mage had decided it was worth talking to someone and possibly taking a look for himself. If the reindeer were acting outside the norm it would be worth investigating. There was no telling what could be responsible for the change of behavior and if it happened to be something relating to magic Frankie would be remiss if he lost the opportunity to study it. Finding people with firsthand accounts hadn't been that difficult. A few of the adults had gathered near the town square where they were having their injuries tended to. It didn't appear that anyone had broken limbs, but there were enough cuts and bruises that he could understand why they would retreat. If anything, they had probably gotten very luck. An adult male reindeer could easily kill man if it was properly motivated to do so. Not only could their antlers potentially impale someone, but they were strong enough that a kick or misstep could easily result in someone breaking their bones. They might not think so in this moment, but they should be relieved this was all they came away with.
Frankie made his way towards an adult who seemed to be directing all efforts to tend to the wounded. Although his arm was in a sling, he stood with an air of confidence as he called for bandages or ordered the more injured to stay still until they had been tended. "I heard that there was some trouble with local reindeer?" Frankie's sudden question seemed to startle the man out of his duties and he turned to regard Frankie. For a second, he looked like he might simply dismiss the mad mage, but a glance made it clear that he had noticed the Green Mantis mantle that Frankie almost always wore when he went out. "Errr... Yeah, we thought the kids were either making up stories or had simply mistaken the deer for a moose or some other larger, but similar animal. I wish that had been the truth." Although the words were dragged out of the man slowly his feelings were clearly genuine. "What do you mean? Were they simply more confrontational?" Even as Frankie finished the question the man was already shaking his head in disagreement. "No, they were much bigger! Never seen a reindeer as large as these. They attacked the second we got too deep into the forest. I just thank the Spirits that they didn't chase us beyond the forest. At this rate though any attempts to lumber or hunt is going to be impossible with them there." The citizen's tone made it clear that he was bothered, but Frankie could only smile as he found himself positively ecstatic. The deer had been clearly changed somehow, the question was how? Frankie wondered if he would be enough to investigate, but didn't want to bring any other citizens as they could likely be more of a liability then a help. Perhaps others had been attracted to all the commotion, who could assist?

Frankie hears about adults coming back injured, chats one up about the reindeer, and looks around to see if there are any others who might be willing to help.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] It hadn't been all that long since Johnathan stepped down as the head of the Jaeger family and Echo had become the new head, the family that had taken her in all those years ago were now classed as fallen meaning where she could travel was limited in her mind. Even though she believed she had done nothing wrong, even though she hadn't taken their last name she was still essentially part of that family and so would be judged as such. She didn't want to be taken to jail just by being associated with her family. Then again, she was still shaken from what she had witnessed only a few days ago to the point she had run away the moment she could. Echo, the man who said he loved her and that had tenderly cared for her had slaughtered half of his family starting with his own elder brother. [break][break] Just the scene of that moment made her visibly shake, she could feel something awful welling up inside of herself but it never seemed to bubble over. She had managed to find shelter thanks to a couple of farmers near the most northern point of Clover. She was thankful for their kindness, she must have looked like such a wreck when she fell flat and almost got trodden on by a horse. She hadn't said a word to them, but she did help out when asked to earn her keep. It might have only been feeding the chickens or helping to cook but it gave her some form of normalcy as she tried to work through the trauma of that day. She still had no memory of who she was and the elderly couple she doubted would have been much help to fill in the blanks but she didn't mind. [break][break] Due to the winter, the pair who had been so kind to her had fallen sick, she knew that she had healing magic but this was a natural illness and so doubted that anything more than remedies would help and so would need to find an apothecary in the hopes to procure the medicine needed. The couple was poor but she knew she wasn't given the jewellery she had when she had gone to the local apothecary they told her they would only accept yul, not items as there was no way for them to tell the real value. She begged the man to tend to the couple and she would return in a few days with the fee he asked regardless of how much it was. Begrudgingly he accepted because he could tell in her forest emerald eyes that she had become attached to the couple she wanted to save. [break][break] It was against her better judgement but she headed towards the Royal Captial believing that they would give the best price for the engagement ring she wore. She understood Echo would be angry and in his anger would hurt her if not outright kill her but if her single suffering could help two people as well as the animals and people that relied on them for foot then it was with the trade in her mind. It had taken a while but she ended up in the common region, the village of Nairn of all places. It seemed quiet enough and though cold and hungry currently she stopped for a rest before she intended to continue her travels towards the Royal Capital. It was then she saw the same odd-looking man she had at Slyphe's tree and was a bit apprehensive of getting too close. [break][break] She could hear them talking about issues with the local wildlife and being given the information, the couple who helped her were being seen to. She knew she should continue to her destination but then thought if she helped with this task then surely she could make some if not all of the yul required to pay for the medicine. Getting slowly closer she'd look to the man shaking as she knew the punishment for mingling with magic knights was a harsh one, still, if she sold her engagement ring surely it would be worse. She took a deep breath and looked at the man "I... I'm sorry to disturb you..." she whispered almost scared to let her presence be known "Do... do you remember me... from Sylph's tree?" she would ask him her hands holding onto her sleeves as she looked down biting her bottom lip hoping in part that he did and in part that he didn't. [break][break] "I... I know I'm not a magic knight but..." her eyes closed "Please... please let me help... it's important..." her tone showed urgency and desperation in it, she was frightened that much was clear by how her words wobbled. "I am living with an elderly couple and they are sick, they don't have the funds for medicine and so I'm willing to work to earn the yul for it..." she looked down clenching her sleeves harder as tears fell "So please my lord, let me help... let me help my grandparents." even though they weren't family by blood they had shown her nothing but kindness even when they themselves had struggled and now it was time to repay in kindness. She stood there awaiting the acentric magic knights decision "I promise I won't get in the way." she whispered hoping that this would make him agree.

Kikka is a town known to be the defensive foot-hold for the Clover Kingdom, it is the town that sits in the grey area of what could be considered the noble region and the common region. It is due to this that there is a diverse range of people and backgrounds that called this place home. [break][break] A young fire mage found himself getting into trouble when he decided to steal some vegetables from a garden of jewellers. The mother of the family was the one that caught him and even told the boy and his mother that they just needed to ask due to them having more than enough. It was the beginning of a new bond between the family and the fire mage. [break][break] Over time the boy grew and where he was wanting to learn the next flashy fire move from the former purple orca. She would tell him that he needed to learn how to walk before he tried to run or those he cared about would get burned by those same flames that treasured so much. Of course, being young he didn't understand what she was getting at. [break][break] The woman's husband attempted to teach the street smart and somewhat rough male his craft. He, of course, got bored real quickly because crafting jewellery was a slow process that often was very detail orientated. Still, the man tried. On the day the fire mage was scheduled to leave Kikka for the exams the man called the young mage into his workshop. [break][break] He was just finishing up a double ring set and told him to put every wish and promise he could into a single flame and release it onto the ring. Somewhat sceptical the fire mage did what he was asked and thought it was for some sort of trinket for the woman that had helped him grow. The man placed the ring into a box and handed it to the budding mage. [break][break] "Valo, we see you as our son and we are proud to see the man you've grown into. You've helped create something that is unique and special, keep it with you and give it to someone that you believe deserves what you put into it." [break][break] The now young man gave bravado with his normal attitude but took the ring. He held onto it for three years until something terrible happened. The family that he had loved so much was taken from him. The one that had seen him at his most vulnerable and had helped him through the grief was a young woman. A woman who themselves couldn't fight due to their beliefs. [break][break] He remembered the ring from all those years ago and offered it to her, telling her if she was ever in danger just to call him and he'd come running.

The flames eventually dissipate and leave the person being healed with almost metallic blue flaming intertwining symbols going around their body. The flames are intricate and delicate so they could easily be mistaken as tasteful jewellery. Speaking the name of another while twisting the ring will give them the benefits of the healing. With the use of the ammo rules, additional people can be healed per trigger. This ability heals for junior rank damage, this ability will also actively attempt to cleanse those being healed by it from any debuffs, poisons, hexes, curses, venoms as per the clashing rules.
Type & Uses: Flow ¦ 3 uses ¦ 2 cooldown[break] Rank & Specialization: Junior ¦ Sensory ¦ Communication[break] Mana Cost: 6 ¦ 3[break] Range & Speed: Within Same Sub-Board (Board if no sub-board) ¦ 10m/s[break] Stats Affected: n/a[break] Description:[break] Turning the bottom ring to the right is how this ability is activated. From the ring springs, a book made with a blue flame cover but upon opening it the flames are an orangy-red as normal. Speaking the name of the person that the wielder wants to speak from creates their name at the front of the book in orangy-red flames. When a connection is made an identical book is created in front of that person with the casters name so they know who is contacting them. As those communicating speak the pages start to fill in with blue flaming text as if being written, this is so facts can be looked over at a later point while the spell is active. As this is only junior currently only one person may be contacted at a time. If used for reinforcements the person being asked must wait 2 rounds after the initial contact has been made before they can enter, as this ability grows stronger it will allow for contacting people in other areas, if contacting people in other areas and requesting aid they must wait 4 rounds after the initial contact has been made before they can enter.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie had been looking around for any sort of assistance in this endeavor when he heard a familiar voice. His gaze dropped to a woman he recognized. If memory served, her name was Hinota, and just as she said they had met and spoken to each other at the Sylph Tree. There too she had seemed on the meek side, as if worried something she did might slight someone or get her in trouble. "I recall, we had a conversation about your reasons for visiting the Sylph Tree. A case of amnesia if my memory serves? Fascinating... I mean disturbing for what you must be going through. There is no need to apologize, you have not interrupted anything." Frankie would admit he was surprised to find her here. Although she had talked of a fiancé and his family he had expected her to be residing somewhere in the Common Region at least. He had hypothesized that she might have been visiting and more used to a wealthier status, from the sounds of it he might have been wrong with his assumption.
"Grandparents? Elderly couple? I thought you were living with your fiancé?" She had mentioned knowing only getting information from that side of the family. Surely, if she were living with her grandparents they would be able to fill her in on her past life or introduce her to acquaintances before she forgot everything? No matter, the mystery all be it intriguing wasn't as fascinating as the nature of her amnesia. Perhaps if she joined him he might get a chance to continue studying it? Maybe she might at some point be hit in the head?! Of course, not fatally or terribly so. However, a jostle to her cranium might be a sufficient enough experiment to see if physical trauma might be enough to reawaken her memories. There have been studies of such things being sufficient, though he had never had a chance to put it to theory. "Remember, I'm not a lord so please refrain from mistitling me. If you are willing to take on all related risks for joining me I have no issue. I am not responsible for any physical harm that may befall you though I will do what I can to make sure it doesn't come to that." Frankie glanced over to the civilian he had been speaking to earlier. Thankfully, the man was not that far away and still listening to the conversation. If Hinota agreed then he would have a witness should anything befall her. Pretty sure losing stars over physical harm coming to a civilian would get him in severe trouble.
"If you are sure you can keep up." Frankie having made up his mind turned to an open area, withdrawing his grimoire. "Earthen Raptor!" He chanted the command phrase for his spell, Carbon Matter swirling out of the pages to fashion four large eagles. With a wave of his hand one approached Frankie and the other moved over to Hinota. "The forest isn't terribly far, but it would be faster to fly. Please feel free to mount that one and we can be off. Have you any experience flying or in defending yourself or others?" Frankie figured he should ask these sorts of things before taking the woman into what could potentially turn into a fight. It would help him decide on whether he could bring her on foot into the forest or if he should keep her on his golem and out of reach of any of the altered reindeer. Without really waiting to make sure she mounted Frankie got on his own eagle and with a mental nudge commanded his to take to the sky. He also made a similar command for the other eagles, with a small alteration to Hinota's mount to only take off once she was truly mounted and safely secured. Once they were airborne they would fly towards the edge of the forest.
With the wind whipping around them in the air Frankie had to move his mount fairly close to Hinota's and shout to be overheard. "When we reach the forest line I will be setting down. If I stay in the sky they will likely simply ignore our presence, but if I am on the ground then if they still hold true to their territorial instincts they will no doubt come to scare me off. You are welcome to touch down with me, but if you do I hope it's because you feel confident in holding your own. Otherwise you can safely stay to the sky." With those words they quickly came into sight of the woods. True to his words Frankie set down, his mount and two of the eagles remaining airborne, but close by. Their arrival had generated no small amount of noise and due to the way they had landed a few branches and the like had snapped in their approach. All of that noise had been sufficient to alert the forest that someone had intruded. Already the woods had gone quiet though there was no way to tell whether that was because of Frankie and Hinota or because the reindeer had scared off the other local fauna. In any case the mad mage could just hear the sounds of movement in the brush in the distance and knew it would not be too much longer until these 'violent' reindeer would be upon them. He couldn't wait to dissect them!

Frankie meets Hinota and does remember her. He agrees to take her with him, but notes curiosity on whether she can take care of herself. Takes the pair to the forest where it is clear the reindeer will be joining them any second now.

Upon doing so Carbon will pour out of his grimoire. The Carbon Matter will gather until a 6m in size eagle has been crafted. Per the Golem rules additional Golems can be created when using this spell based on Frankie's Control to the maximum based on rank of the spell, 4 being the max at Intermediate. These eagles will often serve as a way to keep Frankie airborne and away from ground based enemies. As well as serve as dangerous predators that will swoop in to assault with claw and beak. [attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The floral mage smiled as he seemed to recognise her from the aforementioned event nodding a little "I'm glad that you remember me and yes that is the case." she said her voice saddening as he brought up the amnesia that she was currently affected by. "I remember that you were indeed fascinated by my situation but I am sure if you were in my shoes you wouldn't think the same. It's like living in a completely new world not knowing or understanding the things around you, almost like you are a stranger to yourself..." she looked to the ground "It... it's terrifying and lonely... not to know one's self or one's history" she whispered gripping her sleeves tightly to the point her knuckles were going white as she was close to drawing blood from her palms with the use of her own nails, it wasn't intentional but she was angry and frustrated at the entire situation. [break][break] She released her sleeves as he spoke of her not interrupting anything "I am glad." she said with a soft smile it was then he seemed confused by her words and said that he thought that she was living with her fiance. "a... ah... um... well..." she stuttered "S... something bad happened at my fiance's home so I... I ran away..." she confessed not wanting to go into detail, even if pushed she wouldn't she was told that magic knights were corrupt and couldn't be trusted. She was also afraid that what happened to the rest of the Jaegar who went against Echo would happen to her if she went against him or said something to someone she wasn't meant to. "I ran to a farm and collapsed, an elderly couple took me in and I've been living with them ever since so they are like my grandparents" she explained to him to clear up the confusion she may have caused. [break][break] "I believe we had this conversation also at Sylph's tree. You are not noble in the traditional sense of wealth and prosperity but you are due to your role as a protector of those who can not help themselves and as a scholar in the pursuit of knowledge. I did, however, forget that I agreed to call you Lord Frankie so for that I apologise." she said reminding him a little of the previous conversation. She nodded "Yes, I'm willing to take on the risk it is better than the alternative I believe." she said once again not going into any detail, she honestly didn't want to think what would happen if she sold the engagement ring Echo had given to her to gain medicine for common farmers but if she needed to she would and deal with the aftermath. [break][break] "I, Hinota, wish to accompany you, Lord Franklin Stein on this endeavour. I understand the risks. I accept and agree that you hold no liability if I get hurt or worse." she said in full earshot of the person he was talking to, she wanted to make sure that if anything did happen to her that Frankie didn't get into any trouble for it. The citizen nodded showing he had heard her words and walked away as he was thanked by Frankie "I... I can keep up." she said moving to bring out a small silver key with blue roses and turning it as she did a set of wings made of bluebell petals appeared on her back, as he set off she did too keeping pace with him as the golem went at the same speed as her wings though she did look around her to see if anything could help her memory. [break][break] Hearing his question she looked down "I... I don't know..." she said honestly, she knew that Echo said that she had healing magic but she didn't know if she had any experience using it on anyone "My fiance said I am able to use healing but I've yet to use it since I lost my memory so I... I don't know how good it is... I... I'm sorry." she almost like she was letting the eccentric mage down because she didn't know how useful she could be to him in this task bit she would do her best she listen to him as she was told what was going on. She nodded to his words "I think I should come down on the ground, the wings will only last so long before it will end and put myself in danger of another head injury which I'd rather avoid if possible." she would say calmly. [break][break] Seeing the forest quickly get closer she started her descent landing lightly on the floor as if she was well versed in this way of flight "Seems I know how to fly." she said more to herself than Frankie. She watched and listened as Frankie landed alongside her, he wasn't as graceful almost like he wanted to draw attention towards them 'What is he thinking?!' she thought to herself, she knew they needed to take out the threat but she thought they would take to it more like a hunter than the way it currently seemed like it was going to happen. She raised her left hand, it would seem almost random the action she had taken but soon after above her head appeared a baby green and purple seal, it only appeared for a few seconds later hundreds if not thousands of cherry blossom petals seem to burst free from it and dance around the area the scent of the blossoms, however, the smell of lilac. [break][break] Frankie wouldn't have realized it but the spell still wasn't fully active though he may have mistaken it as some sort of sensory or shrouding spell. This, however, wasn't the case it was a shielding and healing spell but this one was uncommon as it would follow her movements though that wouldn't be apparent at current. "P... please lead the way..." she said looking around as she noticed the forest seemed to be completely silent, it was unnerving to her. Since 'returning home' with Echo she had watched both him and his cousin Zeus train in the forest zone that had been created, there was always some sort of noise but here there was just nothing. "S... some... something isn't right." she whispered holding her sleeves almost as if trying to comfort herself.

Name of Spell: Active Defence[break] Elemental Type: Plant[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand ¦ Defence Creation ¦ Healing[break] Range & Speed: 150m ¦ 75 m/s[break] Mana Cost: 50 ¦ 25[break] Stats Affected: +12 durability (Self), +20 mana regen (ally)[break] Applicable Perks: Archangel's Blessing, Self Repairing, Elemental Oddity, Healing Specialist[break] Description:[break] Hinota often says she was raised learning how to read the tides of battle and this spell shows just how true that statement is. Quickly raises her left hand above her head creating a baby green and purple seal in the top of her a few seconds later hundreds if not thousands of cherry blossom petals seem to burst free from it and dance around the area the scent of the blossoms, however, the smell of lilac, at this point the spell is still fully inactive as it isn't doing what the spells function truly is thus not making this an aoe spell. This spell doesn't act like a normal shielding spell as the petals follow Hinota's movements and condense in pockets big enough to take on incoming spells while leaving the ally in questionable to attack unhindered. The condensed petal pockets act as a shield and so clashing rules still take effect when they intercept an attack and can defend against archmage damage. The petals can split off in the attempts to defend more incoming attacks using the ammo rules equal to Hinota's control and she can even send them to defend another person at the same time by using the ammo rules but she can not go above what her control allows. (Example: A has three projectiles incoming and Hinota has just enough control to protect against all three projectiles but B is also getting attacked by something Hino needs to decide whether or not to protect A against all incoming projectiles or send some of the petals to protect B thus not going over what she can control via ammo rules.) The flames eventually dissipate and leave the person being healed with almost metallic blue flaming intertwining symbols going around their body.

There had been a number of things Frankie had wanted to answer to or refute. However, given the emergency of the situation he had opted not to drag things along. If she wanted to run away from her home that was her decision to make. It seemed at least that she had somewhat landed on her feet by running into the elderly couple that had taken her in. He also kind of liked the idea of amnesia, although he supposed he'd want it to be selective. The idea of relearning some of the amazing and fascinating truths of the world sounded pretty nice to him. There was nothing like that first rush of a new discovery or an epiphany. Simply going back and rereading or relearning something he was already well accustomed to just didn't have the same oomph. However, he could see her point somewhat and bringing up either would likely only upset her further. The mad mage wasn't always the most socially intelligent, but even he could understand that trying to delve deeper into either topic might upset her. Besides, she had specifically refused his question to make her a test subject so he would at least try to make his curiosity in her condition less the bluntly obvious.
Besides, he figured he could at least do this much since she had seen through his wishes and made sure everyone was well aware of her volunteering to come with. He had also had other things to distract him, not just the creatures of the forest, but all the new revelations with her magic. "Fascinating! You seem to have all manner of magic at your disposal. You can fly and do whatever was that other spell you just did there. You made it seem like you didn't know how to fly until just now? Was it the same with that other spell? Did anything trigger when you did it or was it simple muscle memory? Perhaps a memory of when it first appeared as a page in your grimoire?" Frankie knew he might be treading upon a tight rope here since she had made it clear she didn't want to be a test subject, but she had just now done a number of things worth questioning. Perhaps as things developed she might find herself using more and more magic she was unfamiliar with and that could stir memories back into being that she had thought forgotten. He hadn't read any studies on this in regards to amnesia, but he supposed it could work and if it could that would be revolutionary as everyone had some sort of magic or another. Which would mean even those who couldn't afford expensive healing magic could find some way to work through their condition if only given a chance to experiment with their magic.
Frankie might have continued asking all manner of questions, but Hinota's recognition that something seemed off reminded him that they were here with true purpose. "We made a lot of noise in their territory. If these animals are truly as violent and as territorial as the citizens had described they won't abide by our intrusion." Frankie explained, understanding it wouldn't be long now before they were face to face with the same creatures that had attacked the citizens and he didn't want her to be surprised by it. Sure, enough the silence that had reigned was broken by the sounds of animal chortling and the crunch of tree branches as they snapped under the heavy hoof falls of the reindeer. A few moments afterwards and the pair were face to face with four impossibly large reindeer. Although they were clearly still reindeer, they were larger then what should have been possible for their breed. Their mouths frothed and their eyes looked almost mad. If it weren't for their extreme size Frankie might have suspected they were afflicted with rabies.
For a long moment Frankie did nothing, said nothing, he just observed. Then one of the reindeer broke off from its herd and charged straight for Frankie. It moved so quickly that he hadn't enough time to mentally command his golems to intercede. His mind raced to come to a solution and a few had come to mind. However, before he could act petals from Hinota's spell previously condensed and created a small shield that interjected themselves between Frankie and the reindeer as soon as it got too close. The charging reindeer found itself stopped in its tracks, unable to break through and get past the petals. "Incredible! So it was some sort of Defensive spell?" Frankie posed the question aloud though he suspected Hinota might know as much about the spell as he, something from before her amnesia. In any case he couldn't let the chance slip. "Servants of Creation!" He shouted the spell's name, causing more Carbon Matter to generate and form the shapes of five apes. They circled the closest reindeer that had been stopped just a few feet away and immediately pounced. Rather than kill the thing outright though they worked to wrestle and choke it until it went unconscious. Living subjects would be better to study then dead.
The other reindeer seeing one of their own being attacked immediately charged in. Frankie made a mental command for his flock of eagles to intervene. He made sure they didn't attack, their claws and beaks would be ill suited to try and take out these creatures without accidentally killing or maiming them. However, they could serve as bait for the rage of the reindeer and keep them from all charging in at once. Even as they interposed themselves Frankie wound his arm three times and unleashed his next spell. By flinging his arm forward three ball and chains launched out, formed from more Carbon Matter. The reindeer were so preoccupied by his eagles that they had not seen the attack until it was too late. Suddenly they would find themselves weighted down and slowed. Their body more sluggish, mana draining from them, they were suddenly far weaker then they had been moments ago as Frankie's apes finished knocking out the one reindeer and charged the remaining. It wouldn't take much longer now, but the mad mage was curious if Hinota had any other tricks up her sleeve. "My golems can render them unconscious so we can figure out exactly what is going on here unless you have some other way. Your previous magic was quiet impressive so I am open to alternatives." Not only had her spell protected him, but despite all of the magic he had used he hardly felt exhausted at all. As if something she had done had helped him with his natural regeneration.

Frankie is astonished and intrigued by her magic. The reindeer appear and attack, Hinota's defensive spell assists. Frankie is using his apes to knock them out without killing them while his eagles act as decoys and his restraining magic slows them down. He asks Hinota if there is anything else she can potentially do to assist before he just knocks out the rest.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] She had no idea what was running through the mad mage's mind but given their previous interaction in regards to her amnesia told her they almost envied her in a way. That was such a strange thought in her mind, she could understand wanting to learn things anew if you were a scientist but surely even he would understand as he was learning things he already knew anew it would mean that he slowed the progress on things he hadn't already. She remained silent on her thoughts on such matters as it wasn't her pursuit, in the long run. Currently, the only thing she wanted to get was the yul for the medicine the elderly couple she was living with needed she bit her bottom lip not sure if this would be enough but she could hope if not she may be able to find other means to do such a thing. [break][break] She shook her head in regards to flying "I am unable to fly without the aid of an item I have in my possession to gain the wings I have." she said showing the key in her hand a weak smile on her face. "From what I was told I have had it for quite some time, I was told I found it in a market stall and bought it because I thought it was beautiful." She couldn't argue that the key she held was beautiful and was expertly crafted but she doubted it would ever have been sold on a market stall, she also had the feeling that there was some sort of sentiment attached to it something that wouldn't have been there if she had been the one who purchased it but without her memories, all she had was a gut feeling and that wasn't proof of anything. [break][break] She listened to him as she spoke of her spell, her hand moving and her hand cupping as the mad mage was attacked almost cocooning him in the petals preventing him from taking damage once the threat had been neutralized she lowered her hand uncupping her hand the blossoms starting to flutter around once more freely. "It... it's a healing spell with defensive capabilities." she whispered letting him know what the spell was doing, she had read over her grimoire time and time again so she knew her spells and understood her limitations. It was clear to her that she wasn't ever meant to be on a battlefield but more a first aid tent or hospital helping to deal with wounded people that got caught up in strife or catastrophes. She had tried to heal the couple herself but it was clear it was medicine and not magic they needed so that was why she had done and was doing as she did. [break][break] "I've read my grimoire but my reaction for this spell was instinct more than anything else because I can control where the petals go." she said simply holding her sleeves as she was unsure what else to do or say. "No. No memories were triggered." she said shaking her head, she was well aware he was fishing for information but she didn't want to be impolite on this occasion as they were sincere questions she believed anyone would ask. She shook her head "No, you made a lot of noise entering due to how big your golems are, I daintily descended to the forest floor." she corrected the other, she knew that they would have to deal with the reindeer menace but that didn't mean that there weren't other dangerous things that they wouldn't deed to deal with and all that racket could have made them come while the deer fled. [break][break] Closing her eyes she took a deep breath holding it for a few seconds before releasing it as she did a storm of different coloured vibrant petals seemed to enshroud her, upon first thought Frankie might have believed that this was meant to hide their presence but that isn't what she had in mind at all, which was made clear as the petals seem to create a tree around 20 meters away from her. Appearing on the lushness of what would normally be green leaves would grow beautiful glowing pale purple and white wisteria dangling from the flower petal-like tree. The scent of the purple wisteria smells of lavender while the white wisteria smells of chamomile giving a relaxing atmosphere. The purple wisteria slowly crept forward and entangled two of the overgrown deer tightly making them make a hellish noise. [break][break] The doll-like mage covered her ears tears falling "I... I'm sorry... I... I..." it was clear that this was hard for her, not only had it slowed them but as the wisteria got tighter the deer just stopped moving completely. When they stopped moving the wisteria slowly removed from the deer which laid still and unmoving, they were still breathing as she made sure not to take the lives. To her, there was no reason to in any way, shape or form. When knocked out they could be relocated to another place where they didn't do harm to people. "There's no need to kill it when knocking it out or scaring it off works just as well." her tone was distant, it was as if she was talking to someone not there. This situation seemed somewhat familiar to her, almost like a de javu moment but there wasn't anything other than a feeling once more.

(Example: A has three projectiles incoming and Hinota has just enough control to protect against all three projectiles but B is also getting attacked by something Hino needs to decide whether or not to protect A against all incoming projectiles or send some of the petals to protect B thus not going over what she can control via ammo rules.) If not destroyed the shield aspect of this spell repairs at the beginning of each round (3 times max) [break][break] In addition to being a shield, the petals are able to condense and move around individuals healing them instead of protecting them against incoming attacks, using ammo rules she can heal several allies as long as she has the required control. Using the example above Hinota can heal as well at the same time as defending but can not go above what her control allows via the ammo rules. The healing aspect of this spell can heal for grand damage to either health or mana skin as well as giving +20 towards the person who's being healed mana regeneration if hinota herself is healed by this spell she does not gain the benefit of her mana being regenerated. It can also close decently bad wounds and lost limbs in a single round, regrow smaller non-vital organs in two rounds, regrow limbs and organs in three rounds and can even revive people in two rounds. When healing a person the spell also actively attempts to cleanse debuffs, curses, hexes, poisons, venoms by using clashing rules. This spell will remain active until Hino herself deactivates it or she runs out of mana.

Closing her eyes she takes a deep breath holding for a few seconds before releasing it as she does a storm of different coloured vibrant petals seem to enshroud her, upon first thought one might believe that this was meant to hide her presence but this isn't what she has in mind at all as the petals seem to create a tree around 20 meters away from her. Appearing on the lushness of what would normally be lush green leaves would grow beautiful glowing pale purple wisteria and white dangling from the flower petal-like tree. The scent of the purple wisteria smells of lavender while the white wisteria smells of chamomile giving a relaxing atmosphere but this isn't where the debuff takes place, however. If an enemy gets within 75 meters of the petal tree the wisteria creeps forward binding them, this not only slows them by 20m/s but deals Senior rank damage due to them being tightly bound by the purple flower, though a person can break free by using clashing rules. By using ammo rules so long as Hinota has the correct amount of control she can bind additional people. [break][break] The white wisteria, however, reacts differently from their purple counterpart as if an ally within 75 meters gets injured or are running low on mana it will creep forward as if it was ready to bound them but at the last moment, it will burst the petals vanishing releasing what appears to be a gentle white glowing light that surrounds the ally in question, the glowing petals themselves will smell of cinnamon and will either heal for grand damage to their health or mana skin while also giving +20 mana regeneration, if used on Hinota she does not gain the benefit of the mana regen. This spell can also close decently bad wounds and lost limbs in a single round, regrow smaller non-vital organs in two rounds, regrow limbs and organs in three rounds and can even revive people in two rounds. Like the debuffing wisteria, she is able to use ammo rules to heal more than one person as long as she has the control needed to do so. The healing aspect of this spell can also actively attempts to cleanse debuffs, curses, hexes, poisons, venoms by using clashing rules. This spell will remain active until Hino herself deactivates it or she runs out of mana.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie hadn't had a chance to remark on the fact that her flying had been a product an item rather than her own innate magic, but he had nodded his head at least to show he had been following along. He had heard of such magic items so it wasn't completely unsurprising that she had something of the sort. Especially when something like flying magic was considerably useful for any manner of situations. The mad mage had no personal experience as he had yet to get his hands on any such tools. He heard that they were common enough in dungeons and could be purchased. As far as stores though he didn't think they were so simple as to find them in the stalls on some common street. It was usually specialty stores that would have them, curio shops that would sell them at a premium cost. It was part of the reason why Frankie had none to call his own yet. As much as he would enjoy owning something like that both for use and study the reality was that he did not have the Yul to spend for anything so extravagant. Any bit of money he earned went right back into his research and thus he'd likely have to rely on the generosity of others or perhaps delving into some future dungeon if he were to build his own little armory of useful items.
"An incredibly practical spell then. It helps tend to the wounds of anyone who might be injured while at the same time protecting them from any additional harm that might befall them while they are healing. A very potent combination!" Frankie had to admit he was thoroughly impressed with Hinota. He had completely misread the woman. She might not remember how she achieved it, but her magic was clearly far greater than his own currently. Even if he had all day he doubted his golems would make even a dent in her barrier. Most likely he'd long exhaust his storage of mana before the wall of petals even quivered from strain. Based on her display of magic he wasn't likely going to witness the head injury he had earlier thought about, but this was a far better find as far as he was concerned. Magic with dual application wasn't super common and nor was it very easy to pull off. However, in return for complexity it seemed capable of spells with greater strength, range, and utility. Seeing such a spell in action was always useful in inspiring and driving new ideas for his own magic.
"I see, I suppose if it were that easy for memories to be triggered you might have recovered from your condition sooner. However, the fact that muscle memory is active is intriguing. It means that you aren't suffering from sensory motor amnesia at least. This should mean that if you ever need to follow your instinct in other areas it should come naturally. Perhaps finding areas where you react instinctively outside your magic will give you further data on your life previously? Such as being able to paint in watercolor effortlessly or finding you can dance a waltz or other ballroom. Advanced skills in those areas would clearly be a sign that you were proficient in your life previously." Frankie didn't know how much of her condition she had already explored and come to understand. Perhaps he was just saying things she already knew all too well. Still, he couldn't help, but postulate at least a little . Since she had given him new information to work with he couldn't help, but dissect it and see if new truth could be derived from it. There was always a slim chance that some of it might prove new and helpful to her.
Stein knew she was correct in her accusation that he had made all the noise on entry into the forest, but given their current situation he didn't see much point in addressing it. The fact of the matter was that noise pollution had been created and it had attracted the reindeer. It had been his plan after all. If they were as territorial as he had been told there wasn't likely going to be any other territorial animals in the area. Anything like predator or other competition for the reindeer would have already been run off by the herd. So, he had felt reasonably confident in his hypothesis that the only creatures they would need to contend with were those they were seeking. Others might come to investigate what might have happened after the fact, but by then they should be long gone. Once the reindeer were taken care of hopefully things would return to status quo in the forest and the townsfolk could resume their standard business here dealing with the local wildlife in the same way they always had.
Speaking of the reindeer Frankie had to bring his attention back to the animals. He had allowed his minder to wander with the possibilities of Hinota's magic and her condition. There were far too many interesting things going on, he was simply spoiled with things he'd love to study. As he did so he commanded his apes to make their way towards the remaining three and render them as unconscious as the first they had dealt with. Only, before they could reach the group Frankie watched as two of the reindeer were suddenly caught up in wisteria, their bodies not only grappled by the plants, but also compressing them until they were knocked out. The flowery magic had likely squeezed the air out of them until they could not breathe and eventually they asphyxiated. Based on the element being used Frankie could surmise this was yet another spell in Hinota's repertoire. He added Restraining magic to the list of specializations she was skilled at. Although this was an area of magic he had just used her application was clearly different. His own Restraining magic did not have the capability of hurting others, while hers clearly did. It was an area of expertise he was actually looking to figure out himself.
Frankie was about to congratulate her and thank her for the assistance when he noticed the state of hysterics she was in. Clearly, the violence of it had gotten to her. Frankie had seen citizens who reacted poorly to violence before act in similar fashion, but typically those same people didn't display abilities that clearly showed they knew how to handle themselves in a fight. Deciding it was best not to push her further Frankie opted to redirect all his apes to target the final reindeer. He'd handle the last creature to save Hinota from needing to do anything further. The eagle that had been facing it had scratched it up somewhat in an effort to keep it preoccupied, but per his orders had not killed or maimed it. Already exhausted and slightly hurt it proved little trouble for the apes to subdue. Oh, it had kicked and dismantled one of his apes, but ultimately the others overran it. One of his apes leaped upon its back, driving it to the ground and placing its head into a lock until it eventually passed out in much the same way Hinota's spell had done earlier to the other two. Once they were all knocked out Frankie turned to the distraught woman.
"Hinota... It is done. None of them are dead, see for yourself." Frankie spoke softly as he looked down at her, recognizing that psychologically she was a tipping point and further push might damage her psyche. A part of him wondered if her reaction was perhaps left over trauma from whatever had caused the amnesia, but he refrained from asking as it would likely only cause her to shut down. "We had to render them unconscious so we could transport them away from here. Once they are gone the area will be safe enough for the citizens again. I am going to move them to another section of the forest and while I am at it I am going to drain their mana further. Perhaps see if what has caused their mutation was an unhealthy infusion of mana beyond what is normal for their species. It might reduce their size and aggression." A part of Frankie had wanted to dissect them, but sometimes it was better to mark and release a creature for study in the future. By doing as he promised he'd be able to check on these animals later to see if their anatomy and behavior changed at all. Based on what he found it could help him deduce what changed them and if it was a byproduct of something directly with the reindeer or perhaps the area.
Trying to think of additional ways to help bring Hinota back from whatever she was experiencing in her mind he reached into a pocket and pulled a small pouch filled with Yul. Although he hated parting with money he figured what he had gotten from this as research was worth the coin. Plus, once this was reported back to the town they would no doubt compensate him for the trouble, making up for any lost money now. "As promised here is some Yul for the couple you are staying with. This should be enough to pay for any medicine they are in need of. I plan to study these animals further and let the townsfolk know that this area is safe. However, I plan to return in three days or so to see if any changes have happened, if any other animals took up residence once the reindeer left and became inflicted. You are welcome to find me in town then. If the couple still need assistance perhaps I can do something or there might be further opportunity for you to assist and make more Yul you can provide them as thanks." Frankie was hoping he might get more opportunities to see her magic in action and also study her amnesia indirectly. To do this he was all too happy to provide some emotional support and get her back to the right state of mind. Besides, her assistance had been irrefutably useful. She had earned his respect with her magic. "I can see you back to the town if needed. Otherwise, I will stay behind and see to the reindeer to make sure they get moved safely before they wake up or something else finds them." Frankie was hoping she would be of sound mind enough to use her flying item to get back to town on his own. He had a lot to do and not enough hours in the day to do it. However, he would make an exception if necessary. Whatever was the case he would work based off Hinota's response, reporting what he needed to with the town later, and wishing his farewells to Hinota. In three days time he would come back and perhaps then he might get more insight on just what might have caused such a strange mutation in the local fauna.

Frankie compliments her magic and draws some theories on how her amnesia might work and some ways to get more clues about her past life. He marvels at her restraining magic before noting her small breakdown. He deals with the last reindeer before speaking to Hinota in an effort to help her regain her senses. He offers to go with her back to town and will either do so, coming back for the reindeer or stay with the reindeer and reporting to the town later. He promised her that he would be back in 3 days and they could meet and talk further then.

[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The floral mage smiled to his nodding as even though he hadn't commented on it, it showed he understood what she had said. She didn't believe him dumb, in fact, if not for the personal probing and bubble invasions she would indeed find him rather charming if not in a strange manner. She had noticed other than his eccentric appearance he didn't seem to have anything to call his own, of course, she could be wrong but as he himself had already stated that he was a commoner without hard work she believed it unlikely that he would own magical items even as a magic knight. From what she understood though they were meant to be defenders of the kingdom they weren't exactly paid well. She bit her bottom lip thinking that perhaps she could get him a small gift but then she was concerned he'd break it just to see how it worked. [break][break] "My entire grimoire is filled with healing spells, there are some others as well but it seems to be what I specialize in." she said thoughtfully. She didn't want to get too much into it nor did she really want to bring out her grimoire to show him, he seemed nice enough but he was like a squirrel that had lost some of its nuts during winter and so trusting him with something that was part of her very being was something she was uncomfortable in doing. "Thank you for the praise, it seems to be one of my stronger spells." she let him know but outside of that she didn't give too much detail, something like that didn't need to be known all he needed to understand was that she could defend and heal if any task called upon it which was to their benefit. [break][break] "I do hope the study of my spell helps you in your research however." she wasn't wanting to have the spells active too long as though her mana wasn't really affected too badly she felt anxious about a curious magic knight studying it. She was paranoid that he would recognise her magic or heard someone speaking of it and realize she was some sort of criminal or those with who she stayed with normally were. She looked down gripping her sleeves as she said that her instincts were good and so should follow them in the future, the problem is so far they hadn't helped her if they had she wouldn't have seen a massacre happen as she would have trusted her gut feeling that day. There was nothing she could do to take away that awful memory, well she could bang herself on the head again once more but that may end up with adverse reactions given she currently had amnesia. [break][break] "So far it has given me nothing but feelings of things been familiar but not quite right. I've put it down to lacking the memories to go with them but I'm not sure if that is the case." she admitted to him, it wasn't exactly like she could voice this to anyone every time she had she was told it would be better when she remembered, that this was a phase that would pass, but what if it didn't? What if she didn't want it to? The one she called her fiance had killed half his family starting with his eldest brother in cold blood. It was either she knew he was like this and was complicit in the dark acts also so didn't mind it, that she was kept unaware of his dark acts or he was lying to her the issue was she still didn't have enough information to tell which it was. [break][break] "I... I enjoy flower arranging, dancing, painting, singing, playing music, embroidery, weaving and apparently shopping." she wasn't so sure about that last one given when she had returned to the Jaegar estate she didn't have a room of her own nor was there any clothing. It was very odd to her but it had been explained away and she had accepted it because she didn't believe she had anywhere else to turn. "I also enjoy playing go, talking tactics and politics." she added, she knew those three would be strange in comparison to the other more feminine things she had listed. A lot had happened while she was trying to get the noise those two reindeer had made out of her mind, she eventually looked to him and then to the four unconscious deer on the ground. [break][break] She could see their warm breath on the cold air meaning they were every bit alive "You aren't going to dissect them are you?" she asked, she knew given his words it wouldn't happen but given his curiosity, she wouldn't put anything past him in honesty. "They likely are part of a herd inside the plant grand mana zone. The name currently escapes me I'm sorry." she knew mana zones were a thing given where she was found and guessed that there would be one for each grouping of elements. So put out the possibility that they may have got lost and left the forest so they couldn't find their way home. She was hoping that was the case because then they could be returned so they and the citizens could be safe but for now, she wasn't going to argue with Frankie over wanting to observe them. [break][break] She could only look at him as he held out a bag of yul to her, she bit her lip and slowly held out her hands to take it "Thank you for helping me." she whispered, she was grateful to him for the financial aid, more than he would know. When he said he would remain to study and would return in a few days even offering for her to tag along again if she wanted she nodded. "I... I'd like that thank you." she was sincere in her words "I... I'll remain with you for now and when you return to town I will go back also." to her it just made more sense because where she wasn't the strongest in sensory she was afraid that he may need aid in case something else jamp out of nowhere, she just hoped he would agree, even if he didn't what was he going to do force her? When everything was said and done and they headed back to the village she waved her goodbyes and headed back to the farm to pay the bill to the apothecary and tend to her 'grandparents' before she set off in a few days to see the eccentric mad mage once more.
