[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] Sol took a deep breath as he focused on getting his emotions back under control since if he went haywire it would only cause trouble, seeing that the danger had died down Sol released his golem in a burst of mana and took a deep breath as the mana beast screeched at him but it didnt move which while it put the decay mage on edge again he calmed as Jacob asked a few questions .”my apologies both of you those words brought up memorys that are less then pleasant, but to give an explanation Lilitu was one of the three Daemons from Kikka along with Ito and Sven she was the one my team had to deal with and we were the weakest of the three groups” he mentioned as he sheathed his blade after wiping it clean.”perhaps while I explain more we can find a more secure location if we remain here its far to open for whatever that blasted lantern has planned next” he muttered as he hoped they would agree for the group to move to somewhere hopefully safer then out in the open. [break][break] “to explain further we didnt exactly have a direct encounter with Lilitu but more then anything it was mana beasts under her control and it was worse then this, it was a constant threat of knowing such beasts were just out of sight ready to attack and we had no clue what was going on.” he continued the explanation glancing at the two of them as he did so.” the phrase that spooked me what what Lilitu gave us to call the beasts off for some reason so we could finish out task but despite that the higher up with us nearly got us killed when she attacked for the dumbest reason that there were more then specified.we finished the task and I ended up in an argument with her. I learned very quick that leads to a night in jail and being questioned on ones loyalty” he finished though at the end he had to admit it was satisfying to see the ravencrest upset that he had gotten away with a slap on the wrist since he wasnt disloyal at all just disapproving of her methods. [break][break] “While it may have ended in success the effect of that day still lingers as you just saw but I am more composed now thankfully though after this situation we are in I would like to ask some questions if you dont mind” he asked his tone at the end wasnt harsh just one of caution and curiousity. While it was true no doubt that Ito and Lilitu had met their demise in the events that had unfolded in Kikka it was also true that something was amiss here but he couldnt put his finger on it.Sol could not straight up accuse Aelia of being Lilitu but the fact she knew such a phrase still had him rather rattled in all honesty, he only hoped that after all this was over and when they were out of the mana zone and in a safer setting he could get the answers he sought. [break][break] Glancing around he thought for a moment as he tried to weigh the options they had avalible to them, they needed to regroup and regain their strength that much as certain but they needed to find a place that gave them ample means of escape in case the damned lantern decided to pull a fast one.”any thoughts on where we should retreat to and catch our breath? There are a few houses here but im not sure that would be the best option given we would be boxing ourselves in” he admitted. It wasnt the best choice but it was something they could look into if all three felt it was a viable option now all that mattered was what the other two thought. [break][break] [break]

Jin Zhongli
It was clear as day at this point that the planned training for them had gone all wrong. Even though Jin had a good handle of his emotions this would be the first time in a while he had been actually angry. His own lantern had seemingly betrayed him and tried to kill not only him but Aelia as well. While also doing it in front of a magic knight, whom was bound to start asking questions. Questions that Jin didn't want to answer at the moment. And this attack seemingly triggered something in the magic knight, that happened on these very same lands. Things had gotten so far off track the white haired rogue, took a moment to breathe and rub the temples of his nose.
It's not that he wasn't equipped with the mental fortitude to handle sudden disasters like the one they are facing now. The training a Zhongli receives is extensive and thorough, its more than just physical combat or how efficient you are with magic. The most important part of a Zhongli's training is their mind. Even in the harshest of conditions, and plans completely ruined do to unavoidable outside causes can you still dissolve the situation at hand? The short answer was yes, yes they could.
"Three daemons from Kikka." Jin said once he heard the words coming from Sol. He had only heard rumors of what happened in Kikka, and he tended not to believe in rumors to much. It was public knowledge that daemons were behind the attack in Kikka and they were dealt with. Jin had yet to face a daemon or anything of the like himself, that was magic knight business. In the back of his mind though, he was thinking that daemon attacks were becoming more and more frequent. It wouldn't be long before the threat my stretch beyond something the magic knights or the church could handle.
Jin would walk to small looking cabin area that wasn't so out in the open, listening to Sol talk about his time in Kikka. It was eye opening stuff, Jin had not really sought out any details of what happened in Kikka. The fact that Sol was so willing to talk about his time there, probably meant this stuff had been weighing him down. Especially considering what happened earlier. "Magic Knights have always been a funny organization." Jin replied to Sol's words after hearing he spent time in jail for disagreeing with an higher up. "Egos and positions can cloud minds very often. I've only meant a few magic knights who understand that."
Eventually Sol made it clear he wanted to ask questions, who could blame him. "Ask away. But i've got no plans on retreating and no need to catch my breath. My...lantern must be stopped, caught and dealt with before it does any real harm. It didn't beat us, it simply surprised us. Now knowing what it is truly capable of and what it is capable of doing, we should be much more prepared than before." Jin replied looking ahead. He pulled out his long dagger, and was about to summon his void golem raven for transport. But he held off for now, to answer Sol's questions.
Aelia was in his vision she seemed fine for now, he knew she would be able to handle well under pressure. But it was still refreshing to actually see it happen.

Aeila remained silent as she continued to pet the mana beast, it made her happy and it also pacified it so it was a win-win situation for everyone involved. Even though she was seemingly not paying attention she was taking in the information that Sol was giving the pair. In hers and Jin's world information came at a price and the cost would depend on the information the other was wanting, however, she was realizing that those that lived out in the light seemed to be more free-flowing and loose-lipped with the information they were willing to offer. If was just baffling to her in all honesty, then again, it made getting certain pieces of information easier to get than having to go through the more costly routes. She had no idea how she knew those words they were just similar to how she invited things to her own family graveyard.
Her eyes shot to Jin as Sol spoke about how he ended up in interrogation after he disagreed with a superior about their actions. She could understand something like that happening in her line of work because if you didn't run solo it could affect everyone else in your circle. She didn't think magic knights worked like this and in honesty, it sounded more like a powerplay by the superior. That they didn't like that someone they saw as their inferior for whatever reason was willing to argue with them because it was their life that was on the line. She didn't know who it was or how strong they were but she could see both sides of the argument. The superior knew not to trust an enemy especially if they had given slightly off information but at the same time if the group had agreed to trust they had no right to go against it regardless of rank.
It wasn't just the superior's life at risk but those around them and by the information she had been given it was clear that the daemon cared for her mana beasts as much as she, herself cared for her wraiths. From what she could tell, had they kept their word so would the daemon. Jin seemed to be thinking the same thing she had been, that the magic knights were strange if they would lock one of their own up and interrogate them for just wanting to protect their own life. For those in her and Jin's walk of life, well, she guessed in pretty much all walks of life it was always about making sure you survived at the end of the day. The fact that the superior was so willing to throw away their lives made her wonder if they were actually a rogue themselves.
Then again the person was likely self-righteous and would have claimed the deaths as a sacrifice for the greater good, to make sure the cleansing of Kikka was a success. Then again, after what was in those reports they had stolen from the royal capital nothing surprised her about the magic knights. Aelia to this point had only met one magic knight and that was Sol so she had no idea what Jin was talking about, but, she did understand the basics of power leading to corruption and wanting to assert authority. It was when Sol said he wanted to ask some questions she got nervous the mana beast beside her picking up on it started screeching at Sol once more. She did her best to calm it while Jin said that he could ask away.
She already knew that the phrase was going to be one of the things he would ask about and she had no answer for it. She nodded to Jin's words agreeing with them, they had no real reason to retreat and now they knew that the lantern was out to kill them under the pretence of making them stronger they knew how to deal with it. She did, however, walk off on her own the mana beast following her to a nearby ruin. She made sure she was out of sight of Jin and sol as she had done as she always had when claiming something to her family. From around the ruins, there was a faint glowing light. Jin would have known what she was doing as he had seen her do it many times by this point, she instantly called the mana beast and picked up her belongings knowing that the light would have sparked interest most likely in Sol. She picked up something that had lingering mana and could easily use that as an excuse for the light after all there was no way to prove her a liar, it was no longer working.

I can end and prolong the life of all, but I can't change the fate of those who fall. I can't turn back time once death has arrived...
[attr="class","julienglass2scroll"] It was clear that the situation was finally calming down as Sol came down off his panic attack and the mana beast near Aelia had also calmed as well while he had been explaining the events of Kikka, when Jin had questioned about the three daemons Sol merely nodded.”yes I dont know much about the other two but Lilitu was the one I had the most interaction with even if it wasnt face to face” he explained as he also heard Jin say that the magic knights were an odd organization which made the blood mage shrug a bit. “I'll admit we are a bit unique but we all do care about protecting the country and keeping the peace though that isnt to say that there isnt tension at times I know from experience.” he explained the end referring to his time in silver eagles and his departure from them after he had dealt with a good deal of other members not trusting him. It had been a rough patch after that but his place was now in Green Mantis and he enjoyed it greatly as he felt more at home there then anywhere else. [break][break] “I agree that egos can cause a great deal of trouble thankfully the lion that arrested me was mistaken since while I didnt agree with her methods I am no traitor to my country I'm hoping she got a stern reprimand from her captain” he said making a mental note to ask captain Ardere about it next time he was able to speak to him in the future. For now Sol would simply file that away as Jin would continue on and agree to any questions he had while explaining that he wouldnt be retreating and didnt need to catch his breath since he was still energized and ready to go. The white haired male also mentioned that they needed to catch his lantern before it caused any real harm and that now that the knew its capabilities they would be better prepared for when it struck again.at that the knight nodded and was about to ask a question before Aelias beast suddenly seemed to get jumpy and started screeching at Sol once more but didnt move. [break][break] It took a great deal of control for the blood mage to resist the urge to unsheathe his katana at the hostile noise but realized something may have spooked the beast, “Alana please calm the beast I dont know if my actions have unerved it but I dont want it to turn on us when it can be a help rather then a danger to us” he said his tone wasnt harsh but it was clear that caution was able to be heard in it showing that while he was willing to place trust in her and Jin the mage was still rather wary of the beast but was doing the best he could to not judge it instantly. Sol took a breath to calm himself as he would then turn to Jin again.”by chance Jacob where did you come across this lantern I have seen a good deal of magic artifacts but sentient ones are uncommonly rare?” he questioned no tone of accusation in his voice but curiousity and wonder since while it was clearly a threat it was in a way doing as it said and was making them stronger. [break][break] Hearing movement and spotting a light a bit away from them Sol blinked before he turned and would walk in the direction of the glow wondering what on earth was appearing now, his hand was close to his katana as he got closer not knowing what might have been the cause as he got closer. Seeing Aelia nearby with something in her hands made him blink and calm a bit.”Alana did you find something reacting to give off that glow?” he asked knowing that while the girl was shy she was in the same nasty situation they all were in. Jin's eyes turned away from Aelia and she had quietly taken the mana beast elsewhere, and he had already knew what she was doing. It wouldn't be the end of the world if Sol was aware of her magic element, but hiding it was ok for now. Eventually she may have to use her magic in front of him though.
"Where did I find my lantern? A small mysterious trader in Babel not to long ago in fact. To be fair he did warn me that the lantern could be...troublesome but I purchased it anyway because it was a sentient object. They are indeed very rare, so I took the opportunity to own one. And thought over time it would have my best interest at hand, and not attack me or my allies. But I was wrong sadly. Though it still claims to have my best interest at hand oddly enough. It does seem to be having quite a bit of fun though. Anyway it must be destroyed. Such a chaotic and untrustworthy tool cannot be allowed to roam around even in these lands." Jin answered Sol's question and rolled up his arm sleeve just once to give his wrists some room. His long dagger still in his hand, ready to be of use at any time.
Aelia had came back and the earlier mana beast was gone, it was most likely apart of her family now. Which had Jin thinking was the lantern giving them beasts for Aelia to add? It knew how her magic worked, it stated that fact multiple times and had constantly stated he was trying to bring out their truest potentials. Was his lantern actually telling the truth?
But it didn't matter anymore, as the threats started to appear once again. A few meters from them ghostly green and black specters were walking towards them slowly. Probably more summons from his lantern, at the very moment didn't exactly pose a threat because they were not close enough. But they would have to be dealt with soon enough.
"Mriggan?" Jin called out loud, but there was no answer in return. Jin could see the faint small eyes from his lantern deep into the dark forest. He instantly pointed his index finger outward towards the eyes of his lantern, a small red void in the shape of a sphere appeared and in the next moment a torrent of highly destructive void energy blasted outward to hit the lantern. Malphas
Jin had a annoyed look on his face, his spell did not strike his target as he intended. But what was left in place was trees and parts of the ground that were completely erased. The eyes of the lantern had moved, it was proving to be a very tricky nuisance. He was going to have make use of his rift formations on set locations to destroy the lantern. But for right now Jin's focus went back towards the ghostly enemies coming towards them. The white haired rogue with a swipe of an arm threw his dagger and it struck his target dead on, the blade piercing right through it's head. He then closed the distance and grabbed the dagger and brought the blade down slicing it's entire body in half the ghostly form simply dispersed into green and black mist. That was one of about eight in total. They weren't that difficult to deal with, but he could hear the laughs from his lantern. "Haaahaahahahahahaaaaaa. In time. I time. The truest potential will eventually show."
