[attr="class","text"] [attr="class","header"]NICHOLAS [break]BELL I know crime pays better, but crime and tailoring rarely comes hand in hand. [attr="class","header"]Appearance
The first thing that would come to someones mind when seeing Nicholas was his pale skin, no matter the hours he had spent in the fields, as well as the boy's long, white hair. What would follow, most likely be the obvious elven blood flowing in his veins. There are pointed ears, sharp angles to his face, and slightly stretched out features. Up close, it would also be possible to spot small, almost gray freckles here and there on his face, as well as his body. At the same time, the eyes that appear from afar gray actually hold minor specs of green. Nicholas' outfits are quite varied, fitting the young man's passion for tailoring. It could be something as simple, as loose pants and shirt, or as complicated as layers of expensive garments, topped off with a large, embroidered coat. On sunnier days one could also find him choosing one or another hat with a large rim or even a parasol, if he felt like it. [attr="class","header"]Personality Nicholas would be lying, if he said that he isn't materialistic. In his small village money problems weren't hard to find and everyone on some level was motivated to look for ways to earn more. This way of thinking had also been passed down to him, as the young mages passion for tailoring was definitely an expensive luxury. It didn't help that it proved quite difficult to be generous, if you were pinching coppers together yourself. Such, he often prioritized earning money, believing that once he will have enough, he can allow himself to do whatever he wishes to. As mentioned previously, and, probably, part of the reason why his magic shaped to become what it is now, the young wizard is quite generous in heart. He hates seeing other people in suffering and doesn't spare a though before trying to help as much as it is possible. He won't have issues of giving away the last of what he has, because Nicholas believes he can always get more later on. There is nothing hard work cannot earn. In that regard, there is no surprise that the boy has problems saying no, if asked of anything. Specifically, this applies to people he sees as pleasant to be around, cute-looking boys or someone in obvious distress. Oh, and children. The man is a true bleeding heart, when it comes to children, and it is not a rare sight at all to see him playing with random kids on the street. What truly makes Nich's blood boil are nobles. Or, more precisely, people that believe that they are entitled to something, and such, oppress others just because of that. It wasn't so prevalent back home, where most were more or less equal, but, after moving to the capital, he had gotten a very good taste of what entitlement really is. If possible, he would get rid of the whole nobility system, if it would not take everything else with it. Such, he just grits his teeth and try to not think about it. [attr="class","header"]History Nicholas was born on warm, calm summer evening. He likes to believe that it was what led his childhood to be as warm and easy as the night he was born on. The man's family lived on a farm near a small village. His mother, a burly, strong women with the gift of earth magic, tended their farm and managed the household. His father, a bit slow, but a kind man, was a metal mage and the village's blacksmith. If asked, Nick would say that his childhood was a careless one. He played as children did. Helped the adults, whenever he was asked to, and learned about the world day by day. If someone was shocked by his sharp ears or pale complexion, they for sure didn't say that out loud. It was early that the young boy noticed how much adults were focused on this topic, called "money". It was normal, knowing that his dad was one of the in the village to know how to count and, such, responsible for many managerial things in it. People would visit or he would visit them and often the topic of money was discussed amongst the adults. Over the years this helped to form Nicholas' opinion on money and wealth. As his parents were kind and generous towards their son, such, he wanted to be the same towards others. And no one ever told him it was a bad thing, but he also got plentifully scolded by his parents, when he had shared his food, dad's tools and such, when he, maybe, shouldn't have. It didn't develop into any resentment towards them, but just formed his motivation to earn as much money, as early as he can to be able to spend it as he wished. He was 10, when a traveler, seamstress by trade, had passed through their village to rest. He had been playing with the local kids there that they and they all ended up clamoring around the lady as she told the stories she had gathered over the years. She also didn't feel against showing some of her work and that cast a spell on the little boy. Since then, he had only seen clothing made by and for the village, plain colors, rough materials, simple shapes, but this...There were patterns, different textures, colors seemed to be spun out of sun and the moon. His little heart was beating in excitement. After that Nicholas paid extra attention to the women of the village and, precisely, how they sowed. When no one was looking he would sneak away with some fabric pieces, needle and a thread to practice on his own. With time he became confident enough to even ask his mother permission to take part in sewing and maintaining the clothes of the household. At age of 15, like all children, he acquired his own grimoire. A well-worn leather tome with needle and thread on its cover. It was a lovely thing and the magic that it brought with it just solidified his dedication that tailoring was something he wanted to do. Unfortunately, this was also something that created a rift between him and his family. Nicholas' parents had hoped he will want to take over their trade one day, but with time it became obvious he wouldn't. He started spending more time in the village, became friends with their elderly healer and practiced magic in the quiet corners of the area. It took 5 more years before the young mage set out on his own. The man's mother became pregnant again and it felt like nothing would change, if he didn't set out on his own. Such, Nicholas packed his bags, took the little money he had saved up over time and traveled to the capital with a merchant that had been passing through. The big city was nothing he could have imagined before, but also the most unpleasant place imaginable. Here he learned the painful divide between nobles and commoners, as well as, that his status alone kept him from attaining his dream of becoming a well-off tailor. Life was hard, still is, but he believes that while he works hard towards a goal, he will find a way to attain it. [attr="class","header"]Magic
MAGIC DESCRIPTION: Nicholas has always loved his magic and for him it's an unreplaceable tool in his everyday life. He uses it for smaller tasks as well as incorporates it in his tailoring. Depending on the spell he uses different fabrics and techniques. Smoother, more silky materials for healing, while rougher, more durable fabrics for his constructs. His golems are meant to protect the man, while every other spell is to assist, heal and boost his companions. With slightly reckless use of it, specially, if someone is in need, it's not rare for the mage to deplete his mana reserves without intending to.
