Sightings of a new monster have been seen around the city of Sosshi, and it seems they are attacking merchants and other travelers on their way into and out of the city. After the most recent attack a survivor was found and reported the incident. Find the monster and stop it’s attacks however necessary.

He will then point you in the direction of the monster, the exit pathway of the city a little ways out. As a send off he will tell you not to underestimate the small creature.

When venturing out this close to Sosshi, Gawain never had a whole lot of trouble with figuring out why Griswold had ceased to be a member of the Crimson Lions and instead opted for a job within the ranks of the Black Bulls. The Bulls had their base in Sosshi after all, being one of the only two groups that acted from the forsaken region. What with the forsaken folk being the group of people Griswold wished to protect while maneuvering under the guise of the black knight, being near to them made it easier to hear their plights and outright patrol the region, all while staying relatively close to home. Adding to the matter was the fact that he always patrolled on horseback, keeping his blades hung out for all to see as a means of establishing a presence to be feared by all those that would wish ‘his’ people harm.

In those regards, Gawain often wondered how much of a disappointment he might have been in the eyes of his former mentor. In spite of having been given the same kind of rough treatment the man himself had gone through as a manner of learning the ways of the world, the two had frequently debated and discussed the subject of classism and elitism that existed heavily throughout the country. Especially the magic knight squads and the royal capital as a whole. Still, in spite of all that, after Griswold disappeared, Gawain had decided to throw his lot in with the Silver Eagles, perhaps the most elitist magic squad out of them all. Honestly, Gawain never really cared a whole lot about how the country functioned, though he did do his best at every turn to try and understand it. But he was nothing like his former mentor in that he wasn’t struggling to change the world.

He understood that the actions of a single person would never change a country, so he never bothered to try.

The only thing he had power over was the way in which he could impact the world, and whether he would do so in a meaningful way or in a manner that just provided himself with joy while giving nothing back. And so, the boy found himself within the forsaken region today, aiming to do the work that quite frankly should have been handled by the Black Bulls, which just went to show the state that they were in right now. Making matters worse were the tales of strange bull men being sighted out in the region that attacked traveling merchants and traders along the main road, which was doing a lot of damage to the forsaken lands as a whole. But for what it was worth, help had arrived, meaning all that was needed was to figure out exactly where these threats originated from. And the best way to do just that was to speak to the survivor of the most recent attack and learn whatever there was to be learned.

Another day and another mission Melaena was being sent on. She couldn't complain much about it after all dealing with Clover's problem was the job of the magic knights and they didn't exactly get much time off. Still, she was glad it wasn't patrol duty this time. It seemed that her days of being stuck on such a duty were quickly coming to an end after the dungeon people were now calling the cursed forest. The mission in question today seemed fairly simple. She was being sent to Sosshi as it was some new type of monster attacking people on their way in and out of the city. It seemed that she was once again with a silver eagles mage whom she assumed was Gawin since if the rumors were to be believed he was currently the only one in his squad actually going on missions.

Melaena did find it somewhat strange that two knights whose squad bases were located in the noble region were being sent instead of the black bulls whose base was already in Sosshi. However, she just assumed that it was the same situation with the black bulls as it was with the silver eagles and their members just weren't going on missions. Regardless of whatever the reason the female Blake didn't care much that she was being sent after all it just gave her more chances to rise up in the ranks of her own squad. With her assignment given for the day Melaena didn't waste much time preparing not that it took all too long as she only needed her mantle as the spear and shield she was having custom-made were unfortunately not finished just yet. As soon as she finished preparing the water mage would then seek out Elenor for a portal to Soshhi. The spatial mage was certainly a blessing to have around as even if Melaena didn't mind traveling by foot or golem arriving almost instantly to a destination was much more efficient and efficiency was something that the water mage valued a lot. Upon arriving at Sosshi Melaena would spend a few minutes looking for Gawain. However, upon not finding him she had decided to seek out the survivor from the latest attack as it seemed like it would be the most likely spot to find her partner at this point.

When Gawain located the survivor of the attack, he hadn’t expected a man that was as talkative as he was, given the situation they had found themselves in. When he had been on the verge of death, it had taken him a few weeks before he got back into a somewhat cheerful state of being. It just went to show that some people were by nature more resilient than others. It was certainly something to aspire to. After allowing the man a moment to chat about things that seemed of importance to him such as his shattered cart and the loss of all of his merchandise that was not outright destroyed in the attack, the two eventually managed to circle back around to the point at hand. In so doing, the man elaborated on how he had been assaulted by a monster with a humanoid body and the head of a bull, a minotaur.

The boy had heard the stories of their kind from Griswold in the past, though the fact that they were out here seemed odd. Most mana beasts and other mystical creatures did not venture this close to civilization, especially places that held a somewhat denser population. It was why most of them seemed to be centered more in the most northern regions of the country, closer to the strong magic regions and further away from humanity as a general rule of thumb. So for them to be here either meant that they had a bone to pick with people and were outright hostile, or something more nefarious was afoot. No matter the case, the young eagle would keep the possibility of either being true in the back of his mind as he received the information he needed. Now knowing what the attacker was and where the attack had taken place, the active radius of the search for this creature was narrowed down considerably.

Thanking the man for his time and wishing him a speedy recovery, the boy could sense that the person who had been sent to tag along with him for the sake of his mission had also arrived. Even though his sensory skills in terms of mana weren’t the greatest in the world, he managed to make up for what he lacked through the use of Ki. So as he exited the building and met the woman as she was about to venture in, he gestured at her to follow as he just marched down the street with a powerful stride.

“Good of you to arrive in time. I’ve spoken to the victim and got a solid lead on our perpetrator, as well as where we might be able to find it. Apparently it’s a Minotaur, body of a man, head of a bull, yet all strangely well proportioned. Could you imagine a bull-sized head on a regular man’s body? That would be an odd sight to see, not to mention it likely being a clumsy and painful existence.”

Ruminating on the thought of a bull-headed man, Gawain just kept strolling down the street until they reached the point from which they’d be able to get out of Sosshi and back onto the main road. The chances of them being able to find the creature within the confines of town was slim after all.
