Valo and his companion Augustus were called to learn how to sail and help out the Captain Verona De La Rouge. What it seemed like at first was just pretty honest work, with helping out with the ship learning a thing or two about sailing and rigging. It was hard work but Valo was enjoying it for the most part, even his severe allergic reactions started to subside a bit. But eventually the two were called down below beneath the ship to help with the rowing, a minimal task in Valo's eyes. He didn't come all the out here again to just row with a line of other people. He followed along though seeing as he really had no other choice in the matter. But since he was going to be rowing right behind Augustus he figured now was as good a time as any to get to know the man a little more. He started to ask him a few questions about the church and his massive sword he swung around.
Augustus started to answer him, Valo didn't much about anything when it came to the church. In his youth after causing some trouble a few of the local priests tried to bring him and his friends into the church. Hoping to pray for them and lead the gang of misfits to a better much higher path. But Valo and his friends had other ideas anytime they were bought inside, by stealing some food and money and running out. Valo chuckled as he started to remember, the only times he stepped foot inside a church was to steal from them. They always had some pretty good food and decent amount of coin too, plus any of the priests in there were much to slow to catch them. Augustus was certainly right about that part, a lot of them did like to just sit and work. But Valo admired the guy for taking a more personal approach, a deacon out rowing with some sailors who would have thought. "The old guys in a church back in Kikka sure did like to sit around, it made it a lot easier to-" Valo started to say but was cut off, with a loud announcement of pirates. This sudden yell really caught Valo off guard, he was just thinking about pirates and somehow they were here attacking the ship. Augustus responded stating that maybe Verona had an ulterior motive for bringing them out here. It would make sense, two capable wizards coming out to sail with no other purpose then just that.
Valo stopped rowing and started to stand and laugh leaving his lips. "Hoooohooo. Hahaha! What are the chances! It's good thing ulterior motive or not. I was getting real bored on this ship and things just got hell of a lot more interesting!!" he said aloud making his way back up to ship's deck, as he made his way up the ship was turning at a accelerated pace making it just a little hard to keep balance. Valo tilting over quickly grabbed hold of the edge of the door to not fall over, a grin on his face as he still tried to make his way up. After that another hard SLAM!! hit the side of the ship, the situation was getting more and more severe. With the second slam Valo gripped the the edge of the door harder. "Things must be pretty lively up there, ight no more fooling around." he said now moving up the stairs, applying some strength in his legs to not fall over. Eventually he made it to the top of the ship's deck, seeing every single sailor at work. Some were manning the cannons, others were maintaining the rigs and sails. Verona herself was steering the ship right at the helm, using her mastery of skills to move the ship while engaging with he enemy pirates.
Valo walked up a little further and turned to look at the pirate ship, their ship was massive even bigger then The Red Solaria. It was very dark and malice looking, the ship almost looked unkept but it had to be a powerful ship in order to keep up with the Solaria. There was a good number of pirates on the ship as well, more than enough to be a threat. At their ship's helm one could almost make out the captain, he was tall and wore all black with an all black tricorn on his head with a traditional skull on it. Valo grinned looking at the ship. "Yup it's definitely pirates!!"
Augustus nodded at the young man’s observation. As they continued to row with the crew below deck, Augustus and Valo’s conversation delved towards more personal matters, at least as personal as they had been since they had first met. He had not really delved into deep conversation with the Green Mantis Magic Knight. Instead, Augustus and Valo had mostly focused on completing whatever their mission entailed, before parting ways with a wave. For Augustus, it was something that had been almost routine. Even then, he had always had someplace to go afterwards. As a Priest of Raque, his duties still waited for him, which was why he did not really take any missions that might take him away from his own church for more than a day. He often times only chose to take the missions that were short term, and did not involve with him having to be away for too long, especially when the place that he would be traversing was farther than the Common Region. No, it had been a promise to himself and the church. While he took it upon himself to help the common people when more capable Magic Knights could not lend a hand, his duties with the Church of Clover came first. There was a reason why he wore the Church of Clover Sigil proudly on his neck. His duty always came first, and he could never go back against that. Especially to the Church of Clover, which has had his full devotion since a young age.[break][break]
Then they were shaken from their position. The whole boat shook, and Augustus had to hold on as the whole boat tilted all of a sudden. Yet, the boat straightened itself without much effort. Augustus could only credit the masterful maneuvering of the Captain of the ship, Verona de la Rouge. He was sure that the woman was the one to credit, especially since she had been the last one to be seen steering the ship at the helm. From what Augustus knew of the hierarchy of a sailing ship, there were at least two other people who were authorized to steer the ship. The first being the First Mate, though the person who was in that position usually took care of supplies and any other trivial matters that the Captain of the ship assigned to them. The other position that had the authorization to steer the ship was the helmsman, whose main job is to take over the helm when the Captain saw fit to take a break or to take care of other business. Augustus had taken some time to learn about ships after the first instance of being in one with Verona de la Rouge, and it seems that he retained some of the things he had read. Thought for the most part, none of them usable in a situation like this. [break][break]
“Let’s go Valo!” Augustus would urge the young man as he reported back that there were indeed pirates on the ship. He was unsurprised. The Royal Capital had had a few reports recently of increased pirate activity near the coasts of the Noble Region. It seems that the pirates were now slowly coming back and out of their ramparts. It was an interesting situation, since the nobility had been very complacent in the last few weeks of quiet seas. However, Augustus was sure that the ship captain of the Crimson Lions, Smack Caballero, would be sent to handle these ruffians. It seems, however, that someone had started to give out missions to the Captains of able ships to bring down these pirates if they can. It was the only logical explanation for Captain Verona de la Rouge to take them through this ordeal. [break][break]
As they emerged from their position into the deck of the ship, Augustus found himself shielding his face as a canon ball sailed through the air just above his head. He could still feel the hair on his head being forced from left to right, following the trajectory of the canon ball. He did not let that stop him from fully emerging, however, and without too much delay, Augustus was already unstrapping Lumiere from his back as he held it up. It was a challenge to one of the pirates that had caught sight of Augustus.[break][break]
The pirate would grin, thinking that the finely dressed nobleman would be an easy target. His grin turned sour as Augustus’ grimoire was immediately alight, and his body was covered by his Dark element, creating his, “Abyssal Armor.”[break][break]
The pirate lunged at Augustus, and instead of dodging, Augustus took the damage to his armor, causing a small dent to appear, and nothing much else. The Dark element Priest of Raque would grin then behind the helmet of his armor, before he punched the pirate on his face, his augmented strength would be enough to knock out the man with ease. Augustus knew his armor would repair by itself from the damage done, and so quickly looked around looking for his next target.

A wicked grin started to reveal itself on Valo's face, it would almost look a bit sinister. But only his old gang back home would recognize such a look, this was usually the look Valo would make when he thought of a new plan or found something new to steal. One Valo had his greedy eyes on something it was hard to distract him from it, since becoming a magic knight he's been able to suppress these kind of thoughts at least a little. He hasn't stolen anything, or done anything worthy of a crime but those back of mind thoughts always lingered. He's been able to live with it since being a magic knight pays really well, and if he wanted something he could just buy it. But this was different seeing all this play out gave Valo a rush of energy he hadn't felt in quite some time.
Valo stuck close to Augustus for now, a cannonball just barely missed Augustus and only grazed his blonde hair. "Oi Blondie you almost lost your head there. If you lost your head what am I supposed to call you?" Valo joked his attention on the enemy ship that was attacking them. The time for battle was obvious even his blonde companion started to unsheathe his massive sword as he made eye contact with one of the pirates. Valo was interested in how Augustus was going to use his sword, their past two missions didn't involve much direct combat so now was a good chance to see just what the church guy was all about. Maybe he could see something new, Valo himself wasn't much of a swordsmen in fact not at all. He preferred to use his fist and legs to do the talking, he started to stretch his arms out in fact getting ready for a big fight. Two pirates to notice to him and started to approach him, curved swords in hand. One of the pirates actually activated a spell making his sword spark with lightning, the other one used a spell to create a iron made spear that he grabbed with his free hand.
Valo started to walk towards them, cracking his neck. "You know Ive never fought pirates before. Always wanted to though. So don't disappoint." he said glaring at them . The water pirate made the first move charging in water covered blade being held in both hands. The iron mage pirate coming in behind him holding both of his weapons. Valo quickly ducked real low his grimoire glowing a reddish color, from the tip of his right foot a small flame was created and with a swing of his right leg that little flame turned into an arc of fire that made it's way towards the incoming pirates. "Bureizuāku" Valo said softly. The flame attack was aimed really low, causing the incoming pirates to trip from the attack and get burns on their feet causing direct damage. Both of the felt the sharp brunt of the attack and tripped over falling to the floor face first hard, Valo jumped into the air gracefully coming down with his right leg landing a crushing high kick on the water mage's back ending him. With the other pirate still on the floor Valo took a couple of quick steps towards him, the pirate struggling to get up was only met with a hard axe kick that struck his back crushing him. Leaving both unable to move completely. "Wellll that was a little disappointing, not gonna lie guys. I expected a little more." Valo mocked them stretching out his back.
"How bout me then!?" Valo heard coming from behind him, he turned to face him and saw a large man standing about seven feet tall a grimoire floating beside him. His large forearms were armored in metal like gauntlets that he pounded together in a typical intimidating fashion. Valo looked impressed and started to shuffle his feet in place, he replied in a cocky tone. "Wooaaahhhh look at you! Ok ok! Let's see what you got." Valo started to dash in with impressive speed, his arms tucked in by his side. The large pirate was intimidating yes in terms of size and strength, but not so much in terms of skill and other means. Valo found himself dodging his massive blows easily and was able to position him in a perfect place with his back facing the side of the boat. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike, Valo grimoire lit up in it's typical color and burst of flame releasing from his fist. "Niji Tenka!!" he said using the spell in a uppercut like fashion, his flaming fist slamming against the large pirates stomach knocking the wind out of him on impact. Not only that but the attack sent him up and few feet back, causing the pirate to fall right into the ocean. "Ooosssuuuuuuu. Yeah expected more out of ya too." Valo said taking a deep breath. But as soon as he took that breath, his body reacted and he made a familiar face. "Oh...gosh. Was doing so well.." he said before going to the side of the ship and barfing right into the ocean.

“What can I say, danger seems to find me!” Augustus would cheer as he replied to Valo’s own remark about the cannonball almost taking his head off. Truly, he had been lucky for the most part. He was sure that the cannonball would have definitely ended his life right there and then if he had not been more careful. Luck, at least, seems to be on his side at this point in time. [break][break]
He would look towards the deck now. There were too many things going on. From what he could see, the helmsman was now in charge of the helm itself, and steering the ship. Augustus knew that that specific job was the worst at the moment. Not only was the helmsman put in the open, the helmsman must also make sure that ship did not accidentally crash into the pirate ship, sinking them both. There was also the fact that the helmsman was a prime target for anyone trying to take out a random person. Augustus saluted the man’s bravery, and hoped that he would live to see tomorrow. Though it seems as though the Captain of the ship, Verona de la Rouge, was nearby all the same. It seems that she herself was casting spells left and right, trying to get the intruders of the ship out of the way, while also directing the crew to action. At the end of the day, Augustus knew that for this fight to go their way, they would need to sink the ship of the pirates. That would be the winning condition, and he knew that it would not be easy at all. [break][break]
“Oy, you there! Come and get some!”[break][break]
Two pirates, both looking like twins, had started to make their way towards Augustus. His armor made him a prime target, he supposed. Most of the rest of the crew members looked the part, and even Valo Stark did not stand out as much as the young Ravencrest noble. Even before the black coloured armor he was now donning, he would have stood out like a sore thumb. The two pirates, their grimoires out, now stalked Augustus as they started to circle him. It seems that they wanted to fight unfairly, which was not much a surprise for these types of people. Augustus would bring his sword to bear, before they finally struck. [break][break]
Both of them seemed to have the same element. Water. Though it was less surprising since they were sailors, even though they were looters and called pirates. Sailors one and all, those who were attuned to the sea usually had the element that was mostly attributed to their affinity. Augustus could see it in Verona de la Rouge, who was using some form of water magic from what it looked like from where he was standing. The two pirates would throw their punches at Augustus, hoping to catch him off guard as he was being attacked in two different places at the same time. Already expecting this, the Priest of Raque quickly pivoted to the left, doding the first strike, before sending a punch that cracked the rib of the other pirate, sending him backwards with the force of his punch and knocking him out. The pirate that was left standing was stunned for a few moments by the fate of his companion, before sending out what seemed to be a water whip. Augustus would take the hit on his armor, letting it splash on his arm guards, before launching himself forward and slamming his fist onto the man’s face, knocking him out in one punch. [break][break]
The problem was that another pirate had entered the fray. He had seen how his companions had been handled by Augustus, and had wanted to take his revenge. Augustus had seen him stalk towards his position, and quickly held Lumiere out. The pirate would lunge at Augustus using his grimoire to make what seemed to be a bronze sword to combat Augustus’ own Lumiere. The sword would try to slash at Augustus, but instead would knick the floorboard as Augustus used his augmented strength to leap into the air. He then threw Lumiere at the pirate, who had looked up too late as the sword stabbed him on the chest, effectively taking him out of the fight. [break][break]
Augustus landed on his two feet, before prying the sword out of the man’s chest cavity. He then heard hurling, and would look towards Valo. The man looked sick, and seemed to have just finished off a few of the pirates himself. He would make his way over to the man.[break][break] “Hey, Valo, are you going to be alright?” He asked, keeping his sword held up and his eyes alert. “We still have a fight to finish.”

Valo finished hurling over the side of the ship, and brought his head back over to the main deck. Augustus was behind him, fully armored and massive sword in hand asking if he was ok he seemed to get this question a lot when out at sea. So far every time something happened Valo was getting sick and needed the time to recover, he was tired of being such a burden. He would attempt to place a hand on Augustus armored shoulder, to not only state he was ok but to get back up and stand up completely. "Yeah Blondie I'm alright. Don't worry about me, I can still fight." he said now walking past him to continue the fight.
But his legs were very shaky with every step he took, a keen eye could tell he was not doing so well. His face still queasy and body movements slow, Valo needed some more time recover but the young fire mage was to stubborn to take the time. He felt he needed to at least try and keep fighting, but with all the energy in his body seemingly gone it would be an almost impossible task. Eventually one pirate not engaged in a fight met his gaze, this pirate in particular held long spear in hand. A wide grin appeared on his face as he looked at the sick Valo. "Aaahhhh look what we have here, a seasick knight in the middle of the sea! Thats an easy target!" the pirate said a grimoire floating by his side as he prepared a spell to attack Valo with.
Valo looked at the pirate and was barely able to hold up his arms his breaths heavy and slow. The pirate made his move releasing a spinning wind spell that had no problem colliding with Valo hitting him right in the chest sending him flying back a few meters, luckily his back wasn't facing the edge of the ship so he would launched back slamming into multiple barrels of tools and items. It was a painful attack that Valo had not felt in quite some time, nearly knocking the wind out of him. Due to the severity of how it looked the attacking pirate thought he had dealt with the sick magic knight. "Ha! Like I said easy target."
Valo lost consciousness for few seconds, but was woken up with a slap to the face. The young knight barely able to open his eyes started to see a familiar face. "Char-lieee?" "Yeah greenhorn! You gotta wake up! C'mon now! Open your mouth and chew on this." Charlie said shoving a peculiar substance in Valo's mouth. Valo's face reacted in disgust whatever he was chewing on tasted horrible, but he chewed on it. "Mmmhhmmm yup just like that. You'll be feeling better in no time kid. After seeing how you sick you got before, I may have picked something up to help ya out. Don't call it a favor, it was an order from the captain herself." Charlie said patting Valo's shoulder. Valo continued to chew and swallow whatever was given to him, feeling the effects already he wasn't one hundred percent yet but he was getting there. Soon Valo started to rise to his feet with Charlie's help grabbing his arm and pulling him up.
Whatever the substance was it was starting to take effect quickly. Aside from the damage he just took Valo was starting to feel loose and limber again, he started to stretch his limbs out. "Whhhheeeeeewww!! I don't know what the nasty stuff was, but I'm starting to feel a lot better." Valo said now shuffling his feet on place. Charlie looked at him with a grin. "The captain mentioned it was some special magical plant that could cure certain sicknesses very quickly. Seems it was just what you needed huh?"
Valo looked back it with a sly grin. "Yeah...yeah! Looks like I'm back in this brawl! Gotta give the captain my thanks later! But for now let's get back to it!" he said punching the air a few times before looking for the pirate that blasted him. He spotted him but before he could get to him another pirate started to approach him his fist covered in a rush of water aiming to strike the magic knight. Valo wanting to take it easy at first simply prepared a spell to meet him, his fist becoming covered in flames and rushed toward him with his superior speed and power Valo's fist hit the pirate first right in the face, once his water spell dispersed Valo grabbed his arm and used it to pull him in and landed a crushing blow to his rib cage knocking the pirate out with no chance of waking up. "OH yeah were back!" Valo said with a aggressive tone of voice. Looking the pirate that struck him earlier, he rubbed his chest he felt the pain of the attack but his mana skin came in and defended him from taking any severe damage.

Augustus would try to help the young man. He seemed to be really in distress, and he really was in a very bad position. Augustus was unsure whether to keep helping the man, or to fight back the pirates that were starting to encroach upon their position. There were quite a few of them, though he saw that the sailors of the boat itself, The Red Solaria, were well and truly fighting back now. From what he had seen prior, they had mostly been defending. Augustus’ guess was that they were first making sure that the ship was safeguarded. Possibly they had been protecting their cargo, and reinforcing whatever they could to make sure that their ship did not sink. Augustus knew just how much the ship meant to these people. It would be as if someone had asked Augustus if his home estate, the Ravencrest manor located in the Royal Capital, was important to him. It was his home, as much as this ship was the home of these sailors. Its safety was their primary concern, and Augustus could understand that. But, that was before. The defensive measures were now enacted, and the offensive was set to begin. It was as if a switch had been flipped for these sailors. From what Augustus could see, everything was now fortified. Wooden planks upon wooden planks were set around the boat. It was as if another layer had been added around the boat itself. An armor of sorts that would protect it from any ramming or side swipes. However, it would not protect the ship from cannonballs.[break][break]
It was then that the ship was rocked back and forth by an explosion. Augustus would turn to look at the damage. A cannonball had just hit the side of the boat, nicking the top portion of one of the rails. Augustus would curse out loud, before realizing that two more pirates were on him. He was not able to fight back, as each of them sent their own spells at his very open position. The blasts, simultaneous, hit him straight in the chest. Augustus would fly backwards, hitting himself on the pole of the ship itself. Augustus would grunt in pain, before letting himself get up using sheer will. The problem was that his armor was now gone. It had taken too much damage, and left him exposed. Augustus would curse out loud once again, his eyes searching as he thought of another way to deal with these pirates. He certainly needed his armor back, though he might want to wait for a little bit when he had more breathing room to cast his spell. Something quick was better, something that would need little time to use. Augustus would start to form a plan now. It was something ludicrous, but it would work. At least, he thought it would work. It was worth a shot at the very least, especially since they were advancing upon him once again. It was now or never for Augustus.[break][break]
The pirates would send their area of effect spells once again. It had worked last time for the men, so they thought that it would work this time as well. What differed before was the fact that Augustus had been caught by surprise. His Dark element spells were strong, but there was one unique spell that only a Dark element mage could cast.[break][break]
“Black Hole.”[break][break]
The two spells were met with the large dark coloured spell that swirled in some sort of fashion. From the observer’s point of view, they would equate it to something that is very hypnotic, especially with how the swirls were constantly moving in the same pattern. Augustus would use the Black Hole spell to absorb both of the area of effect spells, before the Black Hole itself would break under the amount of spells it had absorbed. Augustus knew for a fact that the spell itself had a limit, it seems to only be able to absorb a certain amount of spells of a certain amount of strength. But, it would do well enough for Augustus as he used his next spell.[break][break]
“Squires of the Black Order.”[break][break]
Two golems made of the Dark element manifested in front of Augustus, and would catch the already surprised pirates. With a thrust, Augustus would direct his golems to take advantage of the surprised pirates, catching both in a thrust and taking them out, one golem a piece. He would then turn his attention to another two, whom had sent their attacks to the golems. One would catch the first golem, and would deliver it to its end. The other Squire was able to dodge just in time with Augustus’ command, before it swiped at the pirate attempting to stab it with a copper element sword.[break][break]
The last one, the one who had felled his other golem, would run towards Augustus. The nobleman would grin, before dodging to the left, and stabbing the pirate in the chest. Adrenaline is running high, and the pirate seemed to have been sustaining injuries. Good enough for Augustus to take advantage of as he dealt with him finally.[break][break]
Augustus then looked towards the helm. There was someone new there. A pirate. And from what it looked like, it was their leader.

With Valo feeling pretty close to one hundred percent now, he was ready to really take the fight to the invading pirates. It was like a huge weight off his shoulders were taken off with is sever sickness being put at bay. He had no idea something like this existed, with little to no worries now Valo was definitely in good spirits. The best way to show his gratitude was putting a real dent in this pirate attack. It was time for him to get back on the offensive.
He never lost sight of the one pirate that managed to get a hit on him, it wasn't like Valo to let things go and he wasn't going to this time. But before he could get to him he had a couple of other pirates to take care of. "Charlie!" Valo would call over to the burly man getting his attention. "Thanks! That stuff is like a miracle medicine or something! I owe you one!" Valo said with gratitude.
"Remember. Don't thank me!"
With that being said Valo kept a mental note to thank the captain later. She didn't have to do that, but she did and that deserved some thanks. But that was for another time, Valo's thoughts were interrupted with the arrival of two similar looking pirates that jumped in front of him. They both were thin and had long black hair, their nails were grotesquely long. "Oh so you guys came to me, good less work!" Valo said with a smirk. Both pirates didn't respond with words, just action as they both just shot several sharp strands of hard string toward the young magic knight. He looked surprised for a moment but dodged at the nick of time, the sharp strong just piercing the ends of his long green cloak. Valo had dodged to his left bring him closer to the edge of the ship, with a flip maneuver he landed on the edge of the ship running along the line. The two pirates tried to hit him again firing off multiple strands of string, but a nicely timed jump caused them to miss. With his height advantage being that he just jumped from an elevated surface, he could spin and land a crushing air round house kick on one of the pirates. The attack would leave him stunned but still standing, which Valo used to his advantage when landing behind him he landed a well placed elbow strike to his ribs breaking them and sending him overboard.
Valo didn't cease his momentum though, the other pirate being caught off guard with his partner being taken out so quickly stumble for a bit. Giving Valo the chance to land a hard punch to his nose and before he could fall to the ground, Valo grabbed his arm and used it to execute an over the shoulder toss slamming him against the hard wood floor incapacitating him. Valo brushed his shoulders off, and continued to move to his next target. He ran toward the same wind mage pirate from earlier, his grimoire floating by his side as he ran forward just in case he needed it and sure enough he did. He was just few meters away from getting his pay back, but another pirate came in his path to block him a big and burly man much similar the second third pirate he already took out. "Hey you! You beat-""Yeah, yeah." Valo said pointing a finger at him, and a second later a thin beam of heat came out of the finger, hitting the pirate right on his leg causing him to stumble over. Valo never stopping his run forward though, closing the distance
The pirate started to have his grimoire float by his side despite being in pain, a number of vines started to come out his grimoire but it was to late as flaming fist slammed into his face. "First Ignition...and..." Valo said as he continued to run towards the wind mage. The pirate now fully aware of Valo's presence coming after him, the pirate didn't look worried though as he spun his spear. Valo continued to dash forward though, and when getting close enough he jumped high into the air eyeing down his target.
"Ha good luck getting past my wind shield. Sick boy!" the pirate said as he waved his arm in front of him creating a grey square shield that would block incoming attacks. Valo's expression didn't change though, he still looked confident. He started to come down his grimoire that floated by his side, glowing a red and orange hue Valo putting focus into his right leg. "Second Ignition!" Valo said coming down, his foot slamming into the wind pirates shield as burst of flames came out it broke through the shield with no effort maintaining it's same level of power as it collided with the pirates taking him out. Valo landed on the deck of the ship, feet first as smoke rose from the bottom of his boot. "OOsssuuuu." He said taking a quick breath.
Valo looked over to Augustus and saw the blonde priest looking at the helm of the ship, it was the captain of this pirates crew standing at the helm. "Blondie! We should fight him together!" Valo said cracking the knuckles in his had eyeing down the leader of this threat.

Augustus would nod at Valo Stark’s suggested plan of action. [break][break]
There was merit to it, after all. Augustus knew that if Verona de la Rouge was having problems going up against the man, then this pirate must be above the league of his own crew. Of course, he had to be above the power level of his own fellow pirates. Augustus knew for a fact that for brigands like these, power was most likely the basis of their structure. Only the strongest of the bunch can call himself a Captain, and those who challenged a Pirate Captain must be able to actually beat their current one. That was Augustus’ guess, however. There was little merit to the tales that he heard throughout his visits to the Port in Raque. Old fishermen’s tales of piracy and their buried treasures. All of them could be considered fairy tales at this point. Yet, all fiction must have some sort of basis from facts, after all. Augustus knew that whatever the case, having back up for this situation would be the best course of action.[break][break]
“We must be careful.” He would start, before pointing towards the helm where Verona de la Rouge would be staring down with the pirate captain. They seemed to be at an impasse, and Augustus was sure that it was the proper moment now to strike. He would turn to Valo then, motioning for the Green Mantis Magic Knight to come closer. [break][break]
“The time is now. The pirate captain seems to be distracted.” He would nod towards the helm, “The most important thing is to keep his attention, while one of us attacks him from behind.” It would prove to be the best course of action, at least at this point. Augustus was sure that to take the man head on would be more trouble than what it was worth. And there was also the fact that the ship was not in the best condition at this point. There were still small skirmishes happening, and Augustus knew that any sort of failure now could mean disaster for the ship they were in, the Red Solaria. The Ravencrest nobleman was just slightly attached to the ship now. After all, not only were they in it, but they had also learned how to properly sail it. Of course, it seemed to have been in exchange for their combat services, something that Augustus would need to talk to the Captain, Verona de la Rouge, later on. He would have been happy to lend a hand without the need to try and hide it, after all. Pirates were the pests of the Clover Kingdom’s seas, and they needed to be taken cared of one way or another. [break][break]
“For this, I think I would be best to take the front and center.” Augustus would suggest. “I have more of a defensive type of magic, and would prove to be the better one to try and distract the man.” He would then gesture towards the back of the pirate captain. “When I give you the signal, immediately take him out from the back. Be ready.”[break][break]
The nobleman would take a breathe in, and then out. He needed to centre himself if he wanted to be successful with this diversionary attack. Augustus knew that he needed to keep the pirate captain’s attention on him, which mean that he would need to just defend without attacking, forcing the pirate captain to expose his back for a better angle of attack for the Green Mantis Magic Knight. A backstab, if you will. He only had one chance, and he would not want to waste it.[break][break]
“Hey!” Augustus would yell out as he leapt towards the helm, directly in front of the pirate captain. He would level his sword, pointed towards his adversary, “Scum like you do not belong in these seas.”[break][break]
The pirate captain would smirk, before laughing out loud. “Scum like me? Oh, boy, is that the best ye got? Ye better be prepared fer what I have fer ye!”[break][break]
The pirate captain then used his water magic, and coat his arms with what seemed to be physical reinforcement, augmenting his strength. He would then lunge at Augustus, who quickly responded with a spell that he had already been planning on casting.[break][break]
“Black Hole!”[break][break]
The spell would be the barrier, and the pirate captain’s physical attack augmented with the water spell clashed with the Black Hole, blocking and absorbing the spell itself. Augustus would look towards Valo now, hoping he was where he was supposed to be, before shouting, “Now!”[break][break]
For the two, it was now or never. Valo Stark needed to hit the Captain from behind, and deliver enough damage to take the man out. Augustus was sure that his Black Hole would hold one more spell, though he might not need it. It would all depend on Valo Stark now, and Augustus had utmost faith in the man.

Working together with Augustus to take out the captain just seemed like sure fire idea, of course a good old fashioned nice brawl with him and the captain would be great to. But with the current situation at hand it wasn't time for a long one on one fight. The fighting with pirates had gone on long enough, while it was fun though they had to put it to an end now. So far it was clear that Verona's crew was winning the battle, with Augustus and Valo apart of the team both taking out a quite of few of the enemy pirate numbers the odds were definitely in the Red Solaria's favor. But with all the skirmishes happening the odds could certainly turn at any given moment. The only thing that would mean total victory was defeating the pirate captain.
Valo lent Augustus a close ear when he gestured for him to come closer, he spoke of caution and gestured to where Verona and the pirate captain. They two were at an impasse and Augustus thought of plan that was sure to work with the proper execution. It was a classic plan, simple but very effective one would serve as the shield and the other would attack from behind to finish him off. Valo would nod in agreement. It was then settled that Augustus being more defense oriented would take the front and center while Valo would attack from behind. A plan that Valo agreed upon fully, while Augustus was more of a defensive specialist Valo was more offensive. He had no shields and little defensive capability, but he did have a lot of offensive options. Valo would smirk upon hearing this plan, his grimoire floating to his side ready to be activated. "I'll wait for your signal then. And I'll be ready."
As Augustus ran forward to get the pirates attention, Valo would start to prepare wanting no chance of failure. He would activate two spells one that drastically increased his speed so he could really catch the pirate captain off guard. "Fureaakuseru V 2." he whispered to himself. As he slowly positioned himself a safe distance to not be seen or noticed by the captain, but a near perfect path to make his move. He would then activate his second spell "Sāto no ken." when he was in position. Sāto no ken would form two ethereal blades behind Valo that he could control and manipulate easily, while also increasing his strength to even higher levels. This spell was completely focused on offensive ability and increasing it drastically. He was now ready and awaited for the blonde priests signal.
Valo watched closely as Augustus engaged the pirate directly, he used a defensive spell to block the pirates attack. Valo on the balls of his feet was ready to move at any given moment, they were not going to fail. With Augustus call to attack now, Valo dashed forward with astonishing speed closing the gap within a moment. But he didn't need to get close to start his offense, with a simple mental thought he shot one of his ethereal heated blades forward it was spinning as the blade sliced the pirate captains lower back causing him to shout in pain. But it wasn't over yet, as soon as the pirate would shout a lethal and powerful kick coming from Valo would crush the side of his face ending it with that last blow. From the looks of the attack the pirate captain was not going to get up. With the pirate captain defeated the other pirates just about ceased their attack, giving Verona's crew the chance to finish the battle.
Valo took a deep breath and felt a hand placed on his shoulder and looked up to see Verona giving her thanks, she would attempt to do the same with Augustus placing a hand on his shoulder as well. "My Crew it is done! We came out here to sail and to end a certain threat! Today we have accomplished both! This task would have been exceedingly difficult and almost impossible without these two! Augustus and Valo! I saw their potential and their will to accomplish any task in front of them! Congratulate them as they are now honorary members of out crew!" Verona gave her speech, to her crew with the men and women shouting in victory.
She then whispered down into their ears. "I'm glad I chose you two and I'm glad you chose us." her voice meaningful and true.
She brought her head back up to address her crew again. "Now repair the ship! Fix and damages! We sail west!!"

With a stab, Augustus thrusted Lumiere into the downed pirate captain, making sure that he was truly down and out.[break][break]
Augutus would sigh in relief. It was done, finally. The small skirmishes along the boat had slowed to a stop, with all the pirates being dealt with. Augustus found himself heaving another sigh, before slowly letting the mana go on his own defensive spell. The Black Hole had proven useful now, and he was fairly sure that it would not have helped him in the long run if the pirate captain had enough time to actually find a way around his own defensive spell. Pirates are anything but lugs. They were notorious for a reason, and Augustus knew that that meant they were also really adaptable when it came down to it. However, for a skirmish like this, the pirates were not thinking straight, and therefore easily thwarted. He would not be so confident to say that they would be as easy to have been taken down. Augustus was a man who knew how to fight, and he was also a man who knew that their odds were quite horrid if the circumstances had been different. [break][break]
He would not wallow. This was a time for celebration. They had just finished off the group of pirates that had been terrorizing the seas of Clover. Augustus would smile to himself, before the Captain, Verona de la Rouge, would come up to him and place a hand on his shoulder.[break][break]
"My Crew it is done! We came out here to sail and to end a certain threat! Today we have accomplished both! This task would have been exceedingly difficult and almost impossible without these two! Augustus and Valo! I saw their potential and their will to accomplish any task in front of them! Congratulate them as they are now honorary members of our crew!"[break][break]
Augustus beamed now, his sword was held on his side as he relaxed his grip.[break][break]
"Now repair the ship! Fix and damages! We sail west!!"[break][break]
Augustus would look towards what he felt was West. It seems that their adventure was not over yet. Of course, Augustus needed to be back soon, the Church at Raque was most likely already waiting for him to return. He had promised some sort of souvenir, so he would need to see what he could get from these sailors later on. For now, Augustus would think about the future, of the possibilities that were set upon him. The future was uncertain, yet Augustus knew that he would make sure to do his very best. For the family, and for himself.
